5. JAC Vapour UK Made E Liquid (Best E-Liquid For New Vapers)

Jacvapour has been producing some superb vaping devices and their UK made e-liquid range is no different.

Top fruit picks are Boulevard, which promises “Mardi Gras fruit punch and fortified Malibu Loganberry pulp” and Contra which is described as “Sicilian vine citrus and Porta Fortuna fruit compote”.

I’ll leave it down to our pickiest e liquid reviewer to give his thoughts on the Boulevard:

What I can say is fruit lovers rejoice – especially if you enjoy a deep and mysterious fruity vape that reminds me uncannily of Rowntrees fruit gums that I sucked and chewed on back in the day!

Not too sweet – not too sharp – just a wondrous explosion of levels and levels of flavour that still blows my mind – absolutely stunning…and then some.

7. Apollo E-Liquids – (Best For Choice)

Apollo have a huge range of e liquids from their own brand flavours to guest e liquids from the biggest brands. What we like about Apollo e-liquids is that they offer an e liquid to suit different devices.

If you use a vape pen style e cigarette and vape mouth to lung then go for the 50PG/50VG e-liquids. For sub ohm, direct to lung vapers the Apollo MAX VG range comes with an 20PG/80VG ratio, this is the one for you.

The flavours in this range are excellent, our personal picks are the Smoozie, Zour and Due Time but there is plenty to pick from for all flavour profiles. They are also made to the highest safety standards available.

The 50/50 range gives you tried and tested flavours such as Tobacco, Menthol, Strawberry, Grape and Watermelon to name a few.

Not only that but they also offer more ‘off the beaten track’ e-juice blends including French Vanilla, Baja Burst which is a blend of tropical fruits and Razzle which combines Raspberry, strawberry, blueberry and blackberry.

9. Twelve Monkeys – (Best Fruit Vape Juice)

Twelve monkeys always get thousands of votes in our annual Ecigclick Awards and after trying their ranges I can see why. I vape at least 4 of their flavours on a regular basis. Mangabeys has to be one of my all time favourite vape juice flavours. Then there is Tropika, Congo Cream, Kanzi… Ok back to the task in hand!

The brand has various different ranges, their original Twelve Monkeys, an Ice version of these flavours and the excellent Origin range that is offered in a 65VG/35PG mix so sits well in most of the latest vape tanks, both Mouth to Lung (MTL) and sub ohm.

Elements e liquid. This is a brand that has found success over the other side of the pond before repeating that success in the UK.

A new brand, launched late in 2017, Freeman Vape Juice is only available in the USA at the time of writing. We reviewed the full range recently and were really impressed overall. One of the most surprising things was the price, just $19.99 for 120ml.

The range includes a wide range of flavours covering tobacco, menthol, fruits to milkshake. All come in 80VG/20PG so more suited to the sub ohm vapers amongst us. Our personal favourites were Trail Blazer, that offers a slight twist on tobacco, Fall Spirit that is a super tasty Apple and Caramel mix and Cococaine which is a mix of Coconut and Cookie, a beautiful vape.

Definitely worth checking out a few others depending on your personal flavour profile and at this price it isn’t going to break the bank to try.

How To Choose The Right E Liquid

As you will know, there are plenty of quality UK e liquid brands so it’s virtually impossible to tell you what the best e juice is from all those available. For the USA the choice is even more diverse.

We have however tried and reviewed our fair share so we have a good idea of the brands that are taking the required steps not only to mix some great flavour combinations but ensure they take the actual production side of things seriously.

With a huge influx of US juice brands hitting UK shores we wanted to highlight the fantastic work e liquid brands in the UK are doing, while of course including some of the best from around the world.

The above, ‘best e liquid UK’ list features brands that offer what I personally think are fantastic quality e cig juices for vapers not only in flavour but in the way they produce the e-liquids.

Are they made in the right conditions? Do they test their e-juices? If not do the companies that supply the flavourings carry out tests? We try and look at all this but what this list should do is give you a good starting point on where to buy some top quality e-liquid. You won’t go far wrong with any of the below.

Did you know that not all e-liquids will be suitable for the e cig device you are using?

Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as just choosing a juice and vaping. This is a mistake a lot of new vapers make and then blame their equipment for not working properly.

You need to take into account the type of e cigarette you use, this will determine the type of e-liquid you should buy. Once you know your device the main thing you need to look out for is:

• The PG/VG ratio of e liquid.
• Nicotine strength

You can read more in depth information about PG Vs VG here but here is a general quick guide on what you should be looking for.

Device type:

Vape devices with a coil resistance above 1.0 Ohm (eg: Endura T18/T20/T22 Series, Aspire K2, vape pen style e cigs and some pod mods)

If you use the above type of e cig then you will likely vape in a style that is know as Mouth to Lung (MTL).

If that is the case then it is recommended you stick to 50PG/50VG e-liquids and nic salts for best results. Or a maximum 40PG/60VG. You can also vape a higher nicotine strength.

Sub Ohm Tanks for Direct to Lung vaping where your coil resistance is 0.5Ohm or lower.

It is recommended to use e liquid with a higher VG ratio. The minimum of which should be 40PG/60VG. We would also recommend using a maximum of 6mg nicotine. The most popular strength is 3mg.

Vaporesso rarely make a mistake when it comes to vapes and the lates XROS 3 pod system doesn’t buck that trend.

This best selling pod vape may be pocket friendly but it has an excellent battery life (1000mAh Battery) with 6 – 8.5 hours of vape time reached depending on the pod used.

It’s simple enough for all levels of vapers to get to grips with and the two pods that come included in the kit offer excellent flavour.

The auto draw function means those that find pressing a button to vape too taxing will be kept happy. There is also an adjustable airflow on the side that enables you to tinker just a touch with the ‘tightness’ of vape.

On our testing we also found it to be leak free, which is always one of the main selling points for any pod vape.

Add the 1500mAh battery and dependent on what wattage you vape this could last a good couple of days in between charges.

The SMOK Nord range has been out for a while now and even we are struggling to keep up with the number of options available! Not a month goes by where it seems like a new Nord is being released! ha..

Of course, exaggerating a little there but there are a lot of Nords.

One of the latest, the SMOK Nord 5, has gone down the bells and whistles route and offers an impressive 80W output. This is the Nord for vapers that want more control of their vape as well as having that higher wattage power to work with.

It has all the usual attributes to make it on to the best pod vape system list such as top build quality, good battery life, great hand feel, all that stuff.

We also have good airflow options and of course wide wattage ranges so you really should be able to tailor a vape that is perfect for you. If you are a direct to lung vaper then the coils included in the kit will fit the bill.

We also like the new leather trim that is available, looks very nice indeed.

The Brez is lightweight but still well built, it’s super compact making it highly portable and barely noticeable in your pocket.

It’s perfect for new vapers that want a device that is simple to use, you can literally pick up this pod and be vaping within minutes or seconds really if you don’t count taking it out of the box.

One of the things that impressed most was the pod flavours. They rock. The kit comes complete with 5 nic salt pods included.

Nevoks are fairly young as a company (2019) but what they have released so far has been pretty solid. One of their latest, the Feelin AX, stands at the top of the pile.

Nevoks have obviously taken a lot of time to get things right. The 1500mAh battery offers some excellent vape time and the two coils/pods (0.8Ohm and 0.6Ohm) included with the kit pump out some impressive flavour.

In our hands on testing we also had zero leaks plus it catered to a wide range of vape styles by way of it’s excellent airflow control. To top all of this off we were getting a 45 minute charge time!

As one of the newest devices on this list really does tick a lot of boxes and should be on your short list.

Suitable for established vapers wanting a ‘back pocket vape’ and for new vapers dipping their toes.

11. Voopoo Drag Nano 2 – (Best Mini Vape Pod – This is tiny)

They say small things come in small packages and that is certainly true when it comes to the Voopoo Drag nano 2 pod vape.

Measuring in at 72 x 44 x 14.2mm and weighing in at approx 57g. This fits with ease into a pocket and can even be worn around the neck with the supplied lanyard.

Some pods can feel a little on the cheap side but this feels quality in the hand and looks great too.

The 800 mAh battery is also good for the size and should see you through 6-10 hours of use depending of course on your vape style and pod type used.

The pods are made for simplicity. No replaceable coils. Once the pod dies then just replace with a whole new pod.

The kit comes with 2 pods (1.2Ohm & 0.8Ohm) both of which offer good flavour.

One of the main selling points of pod system vapes is that they are easy for new vapers to use. The Drag Nano 2 is as easy as they come to use and with the added build quality should last a while too.

What we really love about them is that they are perfect devices not only for new vapers but also for more the more experienced, making a perfect back up/secondary vape.

The Apollo Ohm Go kit looks the business. Luckily it’s not a case of ‘all fur coat and no knickers’.

The hype is justified though, some of these vape mods are fantastic. They are however a little more advanced and require more of a learning curve, they aren’t necessarily for everyone. Having said that, they are very easy to use.

What E Cig Should I Buy?

The first thing that needs to be decided if you are new to vaping:

• What size e cigarette do you want?
• What e cig size is best for your needs? ie: Are you a heavy smoker? If so a kit with a larger battery may be needed) Do you want portability? Do you want a discreet vape?
• Are you a mouth to lung or Direct to Lung (Sub Ohm) vaper? – Important to know this before deciding anything. In short most new vapers making the switch from smoking will be mouth to lung (MTL) vapers as this is how the majority smoke a cigarette.

The Four Main E Cig Product Categories:

Mini e cigarettes: (Also referred to as a ‘cig-a-like’)

These can range in sizes but are the smallest and most familiar (to smokes) e cigarettes available. Some are the same size as a cigarette and certain e cig brands have a variety of sizes, the bigger ones having a larger battery capacity.

All tend to have the appearance of a cigarette. These can be good e cigs for beginners to help the transition to e cigarettes. They offer a mouth to lung vaping experience, similar to the way most smoker. There are downsides to them however.

Pod Mods

The latest craze in the e cig category and one that has been picking up steam since 2018/2019.

These are designed to take the mess out of vaping and provide a plug and play experience.

Vape Pens / Stick Style E Cigs

These are of course bigger but provide longer battery life. Great for new vapers or the next step for those currently using cig-a-likes.

Most offer a mouth to lung (MTL) vape but there are increasing number of sub ohm (Direct to Lung) kits coming to market should you wish to experiment.

Box | Vape Mods

These would generally be used as a step up from vape pens but we have seen such an increase in popularity for these that many new vapers are opting to go for these from the outset.

There is a slight learning curve but they are super simple to use, if you are willing to take 10 minutes to learn then they are a superb choice.

The majority of these kits are best used with sub ohm tank (Direct to Lung) but Mouth to Lung (MTL) tanks can also be used, there are also benefits to using the latter.

Pros and Cons of Mini E Cigs (Cig-A-Likes)

These are usually the first port of call for a high percentage of smokers making the switch to electronic cigarettes.

I will try and keep it simple by listing the positives / negatives that comes with this type of e cigarette.

Pros

• ‘Plug and play’ option
• Makes the transition to e cigarettes more familiar due to their small appearance.
• Highly portable and discreet enough to carry around and use when out and about.
• Good for a no nonsense ‘charge and vape’ first e cig experience.
• The lightest e cig option. (Although don’t expect them to be the same weight as a cigarette!)
• Good entry point into the world of e cigarettes.

Cons

• The smaller the batteries the less charge they carry = Less vaping time and frequent charging.
• Limited battery life will mean (at a minimum) 2 batteries are recommended to be carried around at all times.
• Heavy smokers will get very annoyed with battery life and want to throw their mini e cig out of the window. To get around this a kit with at least 2+ spare batteries is recommended or a portable charging case.
• Limited opportunity to customize
• The quality of mini e cigs can vary widely, choose carefully, cheapest isn’t always the best.

As a former smoker (15 Marlboro Lights a day) I personally found mini e cigs a great starting point when first starting out. I was drawn to the cig-a-likes for the very reason that they were small and looked like a cigarette and for me at the time this was a very important feature.

It has to be said there wasn’t the choice back in 2010 that we have today, however.

Even to this day I don’t want to take a huge e cigarette out with me when I go to a bar or restaurant. I will take a small vape pen or a pod system if real stealth vaping is required! Both will be mouth to lung vapes as they produce less clouds/vapour.

Here at Ecigclick we have tried and tested over 50 different mini e cigarette brands to date with only a few being worth spending any money on. The two cig-a-like kits recommended above are, for us, the best available.

Pros and Cons of Vape Pens / Stick Style E Cigarettes

This type of vape kit is again used as an entry point to vaping for many smokers, mainly those that are not too concerned with buying an e cigarette that looks like a cigarette.

These type of e cigs are about the size of a cigar or a marker pen, depending on the type you go for. The smaller the device the smaller the battery capacity.

They are also ‘the next step’ for a number of vapers that may find they need an e cig with a longer battery life (as opposed to a cig-a-like) and more options to tailor their e cig experience more to their personal vaping needs and preference.

There are again many different options here from your basic e cig which consists of a battery and a tank to devices that allow you to change either the wattage/voltage to customize the way you vape.

Sub ohm vape pens are also now proving popular but not necessarily the best place to begin your vaping journey.

Pros

• Improved battery life when compared with cig-a-likes, allowing for more uninterrupted vaping. The larger the ‘mAh‘ rating the longer the battery life.
• Fill with own e-liquid which can be more cost effective in the long run.
• Very often more than one coil type will be available. This basically means you can try a couple of different vaping styles.
• Coils are replaceable in the tanks. Again, cost effective.

Cons

• May be too big for some users, especially those that don’t want to draw attention.
• Quality can vary. Be sure only to buy reputable brands from reputable companies. Be wary of cheap e cigs and vape pens from market stalls.

Pros and Cons of Vape Mods | Box Mods

There are different features such as variable wattage, temperature control or indeed both in the same device.

Most are also good devices for new vapers that may want to experiment with sub ohm vaping further down the line as they can accommodate both mouth to lung and sub ohm tanks.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though!

There are two main types of box mod you will come across:

• Mods with integrated battery – When the battery eventually fails the whole mod needs to be replaced
• Mods with replaceable batteries – No need to replace the whole mod when the battery performance deteriorates, just swap out the batteries. Does require battery knowledge and additional purchase of external charger.

I personally use both and have had a mod with integrated battery last over well over one year. For a £30/£40 device that’s pretty good going.

If going for a mod with replaceable batteries it’s important to learn about battery safety, how to carry spare batteries and charge them safely.

All the box mods I recommend below are regulated, in other words they feature micro computers to control settings as entered by the user. Please stay away from mech mods (unregulated) if you do not not what you are doing.

Pros

• Battery life can be considerably longer depending on the setup allowing for long periods of vaping without requiring a charge. Perfect for heavy vapers or those that use their device out and about away from a charge point.
• Many have variable wattage settings that allow you to control the power output which in turn helps tailor settings for optimal user experience. Ie: More / less vapor – Warmer / cooler vape.
• Batteries can be removed and replaced (in some) rather than having to replace the whole device.
• Certain devices can provide the power for those wanting to get into sub ohm vaping further down the line.
• Can be used with Mouth to Lung (MTL) vape tanks – Battery life will be even better with these types of tanks due to the low power they require to work.

Cons

• It is necessary to know the capabilities of these devices before buying. They aren’t for everyone.
• Learning curve – Some vapers just want a simple / straightforward device.

The Smoko Vape starter kit is undoubtedly the easiest vape for new vapers to get to grips with. Why is that? Well this device comes with pre-filled cartridges. So no messing about choosing and filling with e-liquid, no mess.

We weren’t actually expecting much from this kit when it came in for review with it appearing, on the surface, to be too basic. How wrong were we!

The build quality is excellent throughout, the battery life very good but what impressed us the most was the cartridge flavours. The tobacco/cigar and menthol flavours on offer do a superb job at replicating the real thing and the fruit flavours have been nailed. There is also no huge cloud production for those that don’t want to fog out a room.

What Is A Vape Pen?

There are a number of names for these devices, from vape pens, vaporizer pens, e pens or even an e cig vape pen.. Now they are all the same thing apart from a vaporizer pen is commonly used to describe a device that can be used with dry herb or wax. Vaporizers Pens for Dry Herb

These work in a different way to standard vape pens. Vaporizers feature an oven/heating chamber that you pack your dry herb or tobacco into. This oven then takes a few minutes to heat the dry herb ready to vape.

3 in 1 Vape Pens

This is where things get interesting for vapers looking to vape dry herb, wax/oil and e-liquid. Of course, not all at the same time.

How Does a Vape Pen Work?

This is a very basic explanation but it’s quite simple.

The battery provides electric current to the coil in the atomizer (tank). There is cotton wrapped around the coil that will be saturated in e-liquid. The coil heats up and then vapourizes the e-liquid that is soaked into the cotton. This results in the vapour that you inhale. I said it was simple right?

How Do I Use a Vape Pen?

Vape pens come in various shapes and sizes but all tend to work in a similar way. You have two main parts – a battery and a vape tank. The battery is the main body of the device that you hold. The tank includes a coil that, depending on what stick pen you choose, will be:

• Replaceable coil – (when flavour drops simply replace the coil head)
• Disposable tank – (Whole tank is replaced when coil dies)

When you take your vape out of the box for the first time we recommended you get acquainted with your tank before filling with vape juice. So, take it off the battery and disassemble and reassemble a few times. By doing this you will be in a better position when the time comes to replace the coil after use.

OK.. So you know your tank and how it all fits together, excellent. Now we move onto filling and vaping.

This is a general ‘how to’ and will work for most vape sticks.

1. First, read the instructions included with your kit
2. Charge your battery using the supplied cable
3. If a coil is already installed you can move straight to the next step. If not insert the coil according to specific instructions for your tank.
4. Fill the tank – This may be top fill or bottom fill. Again, follow the instructions to see what type of fill method your tank has
5. Once filled, allw tank to stand for 10 minutes. This allows the liquid to soak into the cotton in the coils. If you do not follow this step you run the risk of burning the cotton which means you will need to replace the coil!
6. If you have a push button vape pen ensure battery is turned on (Usually 5 quick clicks of the fire button)
7. Press the button down and inhale
8. You are vaping

How to Choose the Right Vape Pen For You?

There are a few thing to look out for when choosing a vape pen. Do you want a small, lightweight device that will slip into a shirt pocket with ease? Do you want something that feels solid and built to last? Do you want the longest battery life possible? Do you want to vape mouth to lung (like smoking a cigarette) or sub ohm vape (direct to lung)? All of these questions need to be taken into account.

We have all options above. All of them have the vaping industry standard safety features built in.

Sub Ohm Vapes for Direct to Lung (DTL) Vaping

These are higher powered vape pens that are for those that prefer a bigger, warmer clouds and fuller flavour. The big difference between these and your standard vape pen is that they are vaped direct to lung (DTL) style. They have wide mouthpieces/drip tips that allow a huge amount of vapour to be drawn. They should be used with a minimum e-liquid ratio of 70VG. The downside is that they use a lot more e-liquid due to the higher wattage used.

If you are a beginner or looking for a first vape device then these aren’t always recommended. After smoking this can be a very odd way of getting your nicotine hit as the vapour is drawn directly into your lungs rather than into the mouth first, like you would smoke a cigarette.

The Freemax Twister above is a a great example of a superb sub ohm vape pen.

Vapes for Mouth to Lung (MTL) Vaping

These are generally smaller in size than the sub ohm vape pens above. They don’t require as much power as the coils are smaller in both size and resistance (Ohms). These are perfect starting points for new vapers making the switch from cigarettes as they are closer to the style of smoking.

For a lightweight, slim device the Innokin Jem Pen is a great choice. For an all rounder that offers great flavour and excellent build quality then the Apollo Ohm Go is recommended. If you are looking for something that is pure quality in terms of build then the ePuffer Titan is the one for us.

Automatic Vape Pen or Button Press?

When we say automatic we are talking about vaping without pressing any buttons. With an automatic firing vape you simply inhale and the device activates.

With a button operation vape you need to first press the fire button and then inhale. There are benefits to both, I personally prefer a fire button as it allows me to ‘pre-heat’ the coil for a split second before I vape.

Variable Wattage

There are a number of vape pens on the market that offer variable wattage. This just allows you to control of the wattage you vape at. Maybe you have an fruit e juice that is best a lower wattages and a dessert e juice that shines at higher wattage. With this type of device you can adjust to your preferences.

It goes without saying that disposable vapes have had a pretty bad rep recently. It’s not unwarranted on some fronts but I believe, on the recycling front, disposable vapes will only continue to improve.

It goes without saying you should do your best to find a place to recycle your disposables. There are options:

• Find a recycling centre near you that accepts vapes – www.recycleyourelectricals.org.uk
• Visit your local vape store. If they sell disposables they should have a recycling bin
• Keep an eye out in supermarkets, shopping centres or other areas with high footfall. I recently saw a disposable vape recycling bin at Chill Factor in Trafford Park, Manchester.
• By far the best way to reduce waste is to use disposable vapes as a stepping stone to a reusable/rechargeable vape.
