Both mods are of a sturdy metal construction. Whilst they are very similar to each other in their functions, they do have minor differences like battery type and output power as well as styling.

The B60 has a 1600mAh internal battery and a power range of 5 to 60W.

8 colours have been released – Cyber Storm, Cyber Black, Laser Black, Pink Keep, Laser Gunmetal, Winter Splatter, Spring Blast and Summer Breeze.

Lost Vape Centaurus B60 & B80 AIO – Design and Build Quality

I have the standard 5ml versions of each device.

Both of these AIO mods are manufactured to high standards of design and quality and are made from Zinc Alloy, Stainless Steel, Delrin and PC.

Starting At The Top

The tops have a Stainless Steel 510 mouthpiece connection screw, which can be unscrewed allowing the removal of the Pod/Boro tank.

Magnetic Panels

Magnetic removable plastic panels are fitted front and back!

The panels are simply removed by prising them off with a thumbnail in the slot at the base.

One panel has 3 airflow slots cut into it which aligns with the Pod/Boro tank.

A range of different panel styles are available for different looks!

Lost Vape Centaurus B60 & B80 AIO Bodies

The box-style chassis of each device is made from seamless Zinc Alloy with a smooth finish for a comfortable hold!

The front panel of the B80 sits flush with the fire button. The panel covers the 0.42” OLED screen, plastic adjustment buttons as well as the USB Type C charge port.

With the B60, the screen and plastic rocker adjustment buttons are located on the side of the mod with the USB Type C charge port under the rear panel!

Each metal chassis has 3 airflow slots cut into one side.

And 3 heat sinkholes on the bottom of each mod.

Both AIO devices have the V2.0 Lost Vape Quest chipset, giving a fast fire and options for RBA (variable wattage) and Smart modes (device automatically selects the correct output).

Lost Vape UB Pod and Boro Tank

They are both made of PCTG material!

Both of my tanks have the standard 5ml capacity but 2ml TPD versions are available.

The Boro Tank has a single RBA build deck. It has a 3mm airflow screw pin pre-installed which can be replaced with either the included 1mm or 2mm pins for tighter airflow resistance.

The accessories for the Boro tank (and B80) kit include O-rings, airflow screw pins, 2x Delrin mouthpieces, mouthpiece, screwdrivers and a 510 connection adaptor!

No DIY coils, Type C USB cable or User manual came with my kit.

The UB Pod takes the existing Lost Vape UB Ultra coils. I was supplied with 3 of these coils to try – 0.15Ω, 0.2Ω & 0.3Ω.

The airflow for this pod is adjustable but can be a little fiddly!

Lost Vape Centaurus B60 & B80 AIO – Quick Start Guide

For this example, my main focus will be on the B80!

I will be using the 0.2Ω coil in the UB Pod.

In the Boro tank I will install a 0.5Ω KA1 24g 3.5mm spaced coil.

The liquid I will be using in both tanks is Fruit Falls “Peach Berry”.

Lost Vape Centaurus B60 & B80 AIO Operation

The basic operation of the B80 and B60 are the same!

  • Click the fire button 5x fast to turn the device on/off
  • Three rapid clicks will turn on/off the RBA and Smart modes
  • Each mod will fire coils from 0.15Ω to 3.0Ω

Lost Vape Centaurus UB Pod

  • Remove the UB Pod from the mod using the supplied spanner to unscrew the 510 mouthpiece screw!
  • Prime your coil with a few drops of e-liquid on all visible cotton and push it into the Pod
  • Open the rubber fill port and carefully fill the tank with e-liquid
  • Install the UB Pod into the mod and replace the 510 mouthpiece screw

Lost Vape Centaurus Boro Tank

  • Make your DIY coil or use a pre-made DIY coil!
  • Remove the RBA build deck from the Boro tank and push the build deck from its base
  • Screw the deck onto the 510 adaptor, then screw the deck and adaptor onto a suitable mod or build deck.
  • Install your coil, cutting the wire tails as near to the posts as possible.
  • Insert your cotton through the coil, cut and fluff and then tuck the cotton tails into the build deck.
  • Dampen your cotton and coil with E-liquid.
  • Remove the 510 adaptor and reassemble the Boro tank.
  • Carefully fill the Boro tank with e-liquid, install the tank into the mod and replace the 510 mouthpiece screw.

Whichever tank you use – leave to stand for around 3 minutes so the cotton can soak up more e-liquid before use.

How Does the Lost Vape Centaurus B60 & B80 AIO Perform?

Both of these devices are simple to use – however, I prefer using the Boro Tank in either mod utilising the RBA mode – as I like to dictate the wattage I use.

Flavour and Vapour Production

I was impressed by the excellent flavour of both tanks with my chosen liquid – in fact, I found the flavour from both was pretty similar.

The vapour production from both mods was nice and cloudy!

Airflow

I left the airflow of the UB Pod wide open and set it at 45W, and for the Boro tank with the 3mm airflow screw installed I set it first to 45W and then to 20W!

I found that the UB Pod airflow is hard to turn while in situ due to my hands, so I prefer adjusting it while it’s outside of the mod.

While I love using the 3mm airflow screw in the Boro tank for a cloudy DTL vape, the 1mm gives a great MTL vape and the 2mm gave me a great RTL vape! We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.

Compatibility

The B60 and B80 mods are equally compatible with the UB Pod and the Boro Tank!

Personally speaking, I prefer the 0.2Ω ultra coil in the UB Pod.

I have been aiming for around 0.5Ω with my DIY coils in the Boro Tank.

The only real negative thing I have found with the Boro Tank is that if the wattage is too high, the coil tends to cook the liquid making the flavour slightly off-par!

As a minor annoyance, I believe both mods were designed with left handed people in mind – firing the mods right-handed always seems to cover the airflow lol.

Pros

  • Excellent quality and design
  • Customisable replaceable magnetic panels
  • Good flavour and vapour production

Cons

  • UB Pod airflow adjustment is fiddly
  • Airflow side placement
  • Boro tank at high wattage tends to cook e-liquid

Final Review Verdict

Whichever of these Lost Vape AIO mods you choose – you can be assured you have purchased a quality device that if looked after could last many years.

I tend to think of these devices as pocket/travel mods!

In the last few weeks of owning these mods, I have received a constantly good flavour and vapour production, without suffering any misfire or leaks.

I would recommend both these devices to all vaping levels regardless of experience!

Today I’m taking a good look at the Vandy Vape Pulse AIO Kit – a Billet style box mod made in collaboration with American YouTuber Tony B.vandy vape pulse aio sunny hand check

Vandy Vape of course is an e-cigarette manufacturer based in China. They have bought us many great kits and atomisers like the Mesh V2 RDA, Pyro V3 RDTA, Gaur 21 Mod and the cute little Apollo Kit.pulse aio banner

Since releasing the original Pulse BF Squonk kit Tony B has updated the Pulse several times, all of which have been very popular. In turn this has bought us a more affordable way to vape!

What Can We Expect From the Vandy Vape Pulse AIO Kit?

The Pulse AIO is a budget friendly version of the much more expensive billet box device. I would describe this kit as an internal pod box mod!vandy vape pulse aio against woodThe device is also compatible with most Boro tanks and the kit includes an RBA and stock coil tank.pulse aio boro

If you are not sure what the term “Boro” refers to – basically this is a tank designed for use on Billet Box mods and the front slide off tank panel is made from Borosilicate glass – hence the name.

These tanks are really versatile and you can buy different rebuildable decks and “Bridges” which are adaptors that allow you to use different stock coils in the tank. Also a lot of devices by other manufacturers are compatible with this system.

The device is powered by a single battery with a maximum output power of up to 80W!

There are 6 colour options to choose from: Black, Frosted White, Frosted Green, Frosted Black, Frosted Red and Frosted Blue. You can of course purchase the side panels separately in a different colour to create your own combination.

 Design and Build Quality

The kit comes well presented in a card box and includes an excellent amount of extras.

I received the Frosted White version.

Vandy Vape Pulse AIO Kit Overview

The device measurements are 97.5mm tall including the mouthpiece, 55.6mm depth and a width of 28.2mm.pulse aio components

The whole device is made of Polycarbonate making it fairly light but with a feel in the hand that is very substantial!vandy vape pulse aio display

From the top

The Pulse AIO comes with a Teflon 510 mouthpiece and to be honest I really don’t like this drip tip! It never seems to sit correctly in the tank not even if I lube it with e-liquid.vandy vape pulse aio mouthpiece

The tank securing 510 nut is removable and holds the tank in place with pressure!vandy vape pulse aio 510 nut removal

Side panels

Both plastic panel doors are held in position by magnets, the only difference between the panels is the front panel has a hole for the fire button.

vandy vape pulse aio door panels

Both panels have thumbnail slots to help remove them from the case.vandy vape pulse aio slot panels

Inside the Vandy Vape AIO

Looking under the front panel you will see a large clicky plastic fire button and the button is replaceable. In fact the whole device is highly customisable – more about that further on!

vandy vape pulse aio face work

The small OLED screen measures approximately 14mm by 5mm and the screen is clear and bright.pulse aio customise

Below the screen are the adjustment buttons (again replaceable). Whilst quite small and made of plastic they have a nice click to them! The unit also has a USB “Type C” charge port rated at 1amp.

This side also has cut outs to help remove the both the tank and battery.vandy vape pulse aio open front panel

Looking under the side panel, the device will hold a 21700/20700 battery or a 18650 with the aid of the included battery adaptor.pulse aio battery

When new, the unit comes with the 3.7ml RBA tank installed. Also included in the box is a 5ml stock coil tank that takes the VVC range of coils.vandy vape pulse aio open back panel

Removal of the tank is accomplished by unscrewing the 510 nut. The Pulse AIO has an adjustable 510 screw under the tank for those that may wish to use Boro tanks in the device.vandy vape pulse aio adjustable 510

Lastly you will see Vandy Vape own chipset board, sealed in a plastic box that has lightly moulded advertisement on it.vandy vape pulse aio moulded advertising

In effect what Tony has done here is to rearrange the insides of the Pulse Squonk!

Sides and Bottom

The sides are rounded which makes the unit really comfortable to hold!

One side of the device has 3 airflow holes which match up perfectly to the tank airflow.vandy vape pulse aio slots airflow

Normal safety marks have been moulded on the bottom of the device. Curiously there are no other markings on the exterior of the mod to say this is a Vandy Vape product.

Customisation

Tony’s version is customisable with replaceable buttons, button surrounds and screen panels. These are all available separately.

You can even change the screws!pulse aio plates

The Tanks

Tony has named the tanks “Vessels”. Think about it, naming the device “Pulse”, Vessel does make sense!

The kit comes with 2 tanks.vandy vape pulse aio 2 vessels

RBA Vessel

Is made of clear plastic with “Pulse” as advertisement. The tank will hold up to 3.7ml of liquid and has a Silicone fill port plug.

The base/build deck is metal with a curved build deck and the deck is designed to hold 1 coil.vandy vape pulse aio rba tank

Because the deck is curved, the airflow strikes the sides and bottom of the coil.vandy vape pulse aio deck rba

A black plastic airflow ring is removable from the 510 connection threading, which is great because you can then attach the build deck to a mod or Ohms reader to prepare your coil.vandy vape pulse aio revealed 510 rba

Stock Coil Vessel

Again made of plastic with a metal chimney and coil section it has an adjustable metal airflow ring.

One of the things I hate about pods is the TPD liquid capacity of 2ml!pulse aio coils

No such worries with this tank it has a liquid capacity of 5ml.

It uses the Vandy Vape VVC coil range and 2 come with the kit.

These are also compatible with other Vandy Vape kits such as the Rhino, Unicorn, Nox, Jackaroo Mini and Jackaroo Pod.

  • VVC30 0.3Ω – 30 to 45W
  • VVC60 0.6Ω – 18 to 26Wvandy vape pulse aio coils vvc

How Does the Vandy Vape Pulse AIO Kit Perform?

To start with today I will be making my own DIY Kanthal 24g coil for use with the RBA deck, the coil was created using a 3mm bit spaced and reads 0.5Ω.

I will then swap the RBA tank for the stock coil tank with the 0.6Ω coil.

With both tanks I will be using “Sweet Lime Slushy” by Digi Vape. Kwik Vape liked the recipes so much they bought the company!vandy vape pulse aio outside bricks

Basic Quick Start Guide

RBA Deck

Make your coil or use those that come with the kit.

  • Cut the coil tails around 6mm using the coil leg cutting guide and place coil in the clamp holes and screw down the clamp screws.vandy vape pulse aio wire coil in
  • Insert your cotton, cut approximately where I have and fluff and tuck the tails into the deck.vandy vape pulse aio fluffy cotton in
  • Dampen the cotton and coil with e-liquid.
  • Install the tank into the Pulse AIO mod and fill with e-liquid via the fill port.vandy vape pulse aio fill rba

Stock Coil Tank

  • As always make sure you prime your coil before firing of the device by filling the tank and leaving to stand for 5-10 minutes. You can also add a drop or two of e-liquid to the inside of the coil before installing – be careful not to add too much or this could cause spitting.vandy vape pulse aio coil prep
  • Place the coil into the tank and fill with E-liquidvandy vape pulse aio stock tank fill
  • Install the tank into the mod.
  • Place your choice of battery into the mod

You can charge the battery via the USB 1A type C port, but as always I recommend using a standalone charger.

Adjustment buttons
  • Holding down the plus button and fire together will lock/unlock the device
  • Fire and minus button together will flip the screen.
  • Holding both adjustment buttons together will activate the menu system, which includes Rst, Ver, TCR, Smart, and Normal.
  • This device will adjust from 5 to 80W.
  • In volts the power will adjust from 0.5V to 6.0V
Protections

The Pulse AIO has several protections including 10 second timeout and low battery warning.

So what do I think of the Pulse AIO from Vandy Vape

When I first opened the box, I wasn’t impressed at all by the plastic look of the device. However the Polycarbonate is quite thick and sturdy, to me a see through body normally denotes cheap materials!

Over the time I have been using the device I have come to appreciate the sheer all over design and quality as well as it’s customisability. In fact I have striped the unit down to almost bare bones and most impressively found no hint of glue anywhere!vandy vape pulse aio outside bamboo

Vessel Tanks

This is a nice little RBA to use, it gave me fair flavour. I did find leaving the plastic airflow ring off allowed for bigger clouds!

I do have to warn you – the base/deck is quite loose so I recommend reassembly of the AIO before filling!vandy vape pulse aio toot rba

The 5ml stock coil vessel was highly impressive, it’s a perfect tank for out and about!

While I wouldn’t call the vapour production from the VVC0.6ohm coil stellar, as a 20w mouth to lung vape it sure did tick my box for flavour!vandy vape pulse aio stock tank ready

I wasn’t so impressed with the longevity of the 0.3Ω coil, it only lasted me 2 days at 40w!

Battery life

18650 batteries work great with this kit however it is my recommendation you take advantage of 21700 batteries.

My 21700 lasts me 2 days with the Stock Vessel at 20W and at least ¾ of a day at 45W with the RBA Vessel.vandy vape pulse aio 45w rba

Pros

  • Good Quality
  • Excellent Design
  • Good flavour and vapour production
  • Wonderful battery life
  • Side filling vessels
  • No liquid leaking
  • Adjustable 510 connection for Boro tank compatibility

Cons

  • 0.3Ω VCC coil longevity
  • Mouthpiece

Final Review Verdict

The Pulse AIO is an affordable take on the more expensive Billet Box design.

The only thing I really didn’t like was the mouthpiece!

Other than that the mod is simple to use, the flexibility of having the RBA tank really is an attractive quality to me.

The stock coils gives good flavour and vapour production even if the longevity is a bit suspect!

Would I recommend the Vandy Vape Pulse AIO Kit?

If you want to learn to build DIY coils this would be an excellent starting place!

Would I buy this kit again due loss or damage?

One word “Yes”!

I’m reviewing the Oumier Wasp Nano Stick which as the title suggests is an RDA/AIO hybrid…interesting!

Oumier is a relatively small player in the world of vaping, founded in 2013 it tends to stick to just a few different models at a time.

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Product Shot

The Wasp Nano range has been quite a winner for them.

We’ve reviewed the RDTA and the RTA, both of which scored perfect 10’s! So there’s some big expectations going into this.

What Can We Expect From the Oumier Wasp Nano Stick?

If you’ve ever seen a Wasp Nano RDA, then you know pretty much what to expect at the top of this kit.

The Oumier Wasp Nano Stick is a single coil dripper, with a plastic top cap.

What’s more unusual is that Oumier has married this to a rechargeable battery to make an AIO – I’m honestly not sure I’ve ever seen a dripper/AIO like this before!

Not only that, but it has some pretty loud graphics, and if that’s not enough to get you noticed, the whole thing lights up like a glow stick as well.

Definitely an interesting one! Is it all flash and no substance though? Only one way to find out!

This was sent over free of charge for the purpose of review (thank you), as always I shall report back honestly with what I find.

Inside the Box

  • Oumier Wasp Nano Stick with RDA
  • 2x Coils
  • 2x Screws
  • Screwdriver
  • 2x Silicone rings
  • Cotton
  • USB Type C cable
  • Instruction manual

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Box Contents

  • Dimensions – 105x24mm
  • Power Output – 3 step: 3.3-3.6V, 3.6-3.9V, 3.9-4.2V

  • Charging – USB C 1A
  • Coil – Single coil

Design and Build Quality

The Oumier Wasp Nano Stick comes in three colours: Gold, Stainless Steel, and Black (which I received)

As you can see, the different colours also mean you get a different design on the main tube. Either a tiger (I think?) a flaming skull, or the word “Stick” (which rather oddly has a pencil on it as well…)

wasp nano stick colours

It cycles through several colours when vaping, lighting up the whole of the tube.

wasp nano stick lights

Very edgy…

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Body

The main tube of the body is 24mm, it’s made out of a clear plastic, with an internal white plastic that will be housing the battery.

This combination of clear on the outside, with black printing, and an internal white tube, helps everything “light up” when you’re vaping.

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Full Shot

The base has your expected regulatory marks, the name of the device, and a small battery venting hole.

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Base

Moving to the top of the tube there’s a metal collar with some decoration. On one side of this is your fire button, and on the reverse is your USB C charge port.

Interestingly you can see that although the tube is 24mm, the dripper itself looks to be 22mm (like the wasp RDA that it is based on) so there’s a bit of a shoulder at the top.

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Controls

Although the fire button looks to be all of a piece, it actually has two transparent windows at the top for the fire button LED to shine through.

This is used to communicate the status of your battery.

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Power Button

  • Green – 70%+
  • Blue – 30-70%
  • Red – 30%-
  • Flashing Red x5 – Low battery

However it also pulls double duty as a way of being able to adjust your output.

Press the fire button three times when it’s on and the light will flash to tell you which mode it’s in.

  • Green – 3.9-4.2V
  • Blue – 3.6-3.9V,
  • Red – 3.3-3.6V

Finally you can switch on/off the device with a standard 5x press of the fire button, and happily you can disable the “breathing” LEDs by a 4x press.

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick the Dripper

Anyone that has played with a Wasp Nano RDA will instantly know what to expect with this.

It’s a single coil deck with side airflow, two flat head screws hold the legs of your coil in place, and you have plenty of room to trim them.

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Deck

Over the top of the deck you place the top cap which is also your drip tip.

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Topcap

And you rotate that to line up with the airflow slots that are positioned level with your coil.

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Airflow

Sadly it doesn’t have a 510 as the whole kit is one piece, despite the fact it looks like they just took a Nano RDA and stuck it on the top.

Building the Oumier Wasp Nano Stick

  • Unscrew the deck screws with a flat headed screwdriver

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Unscrew

  • Place your coil and tighten down the screws to hold it in place

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Tighten

  • Snip the ends of the legs, you’ve got plenty of space to do this, but also it’s not vital to have them cut super close as it has a plastic top cap

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Snip

  • Straighten your coil with a screwdriver or coiling rod

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Straighten

  • Feed your wick through the coil

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Wick

  • And trim the tails so it will rest in the top

Trim

  • Place your wick tails into the top of the deck

Place

  • And prime it with e-liquid

Prime

  • Then just replace your top cap, and you’re good to go!

How Does the Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Perform?

I’ve been using the Nano Stick for a few weeks now, and it’s an unusual bit of kit.

You have limited control over it’s power (3 options) so you should know your Ohms Law to make sure you build a coil that suits you.

Handcheck

It’s also really disconcerting building on a device where you can’t check the wattage before putting power through it.

Although it’s not nearly as worrying as doing this on a mech mod might be (due to low resistance protection) it still feels a bit weird!

First things first, I absolutely loathe the light show this thing puts on!

I don’t mind mods that light up so much, but when they’re cycling through colours whilst you’re vaping it just seems unnecessary.

Lights

Happily you can turn this off with an easy 4x press of the firing button!

Oumier Wasp Nano Stick Flavour

Flavour from this RDA is really strong and punchy, if you’ve ever used a Wasp Nano RDA you know what to expect.

Personally I feel like this shines with strong simple flavours, I tried out some more delicate and complicated creations I had made with Dripper Labs, and whilst it was OK, it didn’t seem to have much separation of the flavours.

By contrast, using a liquid like Green Energy by Fizzle, and it smacked you round the face with a great flavour.

Airflow and Cloud Production

There’s plenty of airflow on this little thing.

The really wide bore mouthpiece means there’s plenty of room, and fully open it’s an 8.5 on the 1 to 10 scale, where 1 is fully closed and 10 is fully open.

Closing it down and you can make it considerably more restrictive. I found there was a little boost to flavour once you began to close it down, but not my much.

It’s quite a noisy airflow, the plastic cap I think is amplifying this! But very smooth and little turbulence.

Pros

  • Easy to build
  • Great flavour
  • Tried and tested RDA

Cons

  • Stuck with the tube for the life of the device
  • Flashing light (though you can switch them off)

Final Review Verdict

So that was the Wasp Nano Stick from Oumier!

It’s a really interesting one, because the top of it is tried and tested as the Nano RDA, and just like it’s other iterations it delivers on the goods.

I’m less convinced by the idea of sticking it on top of a semi regulated tube, and making it so that it’s all one piece.

I’d be able to recommend this a lot more highly if it had a normal 510 and you could move on from the tube in the future.

As it is, you’ve got a cracking little RDA, permanently attached to a tube that has some control. Probably not enough for people that prefer a regulated mod, and not as simple as something like a mechanical (or even semi-mech).

I also can’t quite get over my natural dislike of building on something where I can’t check the resistance of my coil first.

I know that I’m not like to have any accidents due to the regulation, and whilst I feel like I’m a decent enough builder who can hit the resistance I aim for fairly accurately, I do like to know what resistance my coil is.

I’m honestly not sure what type of person this is targeted at?

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments if you have one, or if you’re thinking of getting one.

The new Aspire PockeX Box review and this is the third vape kit carrying the name, but with a few alterations to say the least!

As you can see, this is a side-by-side rendition, with a couple of tweaks to the tank as we’ll see later on.

aspire pockeX box review in hand

I’ve been fortunate enough to review both of the original Aspire PockeX kits, the original Pockex AIO back in 2018, and the recently released Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition.

I scored both reasonably high, and indeed, they have become hugely popular with new vapers despite me not rating the flavour that highly…as I always say – what the hell do I know lol.

Aspire has been in overdrive this past few months with new and impressive releases week in week out.

The new Aspire PockeX Box is another of those popular side-by-side designs following in the footsteps of the impressive MIXX and BOXX – however unlike that dynamic duo, this one is as simple as vaping gets.

What Can We Expect From the Aspire PockeX Box?

Simplicity is key here.

The original pair are both dead simple to use and great for brand new vapers.

The Aspire PockeX Box is definitely following the same route with easy fill and coil swap.

There’s no menu to worry about and the chip recognizes your chosen coil wattage and sets it automatically – easy!

It’s powered by an impressively large 2000mAH battery and is fast charging meaning plenty of vape time.

So let’s take a look to see if the Aspire PockeX Box is worthy of the hugely popular name.

For the record this was sent to me by the kind folk over at UK Aspire Vendor – thank you – and as always my thoughts and opinions are not swayed by freebies.

Aspire PockeX Box Key Features

As I’ll probably mention a lot in this review, the Aspire PockeX Box is essentially the PockeX pen style vape kit but in a different format/design.

It’s powered by a rather large 2000mAh internal battery and there’s no menu to worry about – pop in your coil, and the chip takes care of the wattage – easy!

aspire pockeX box review

The original PockeX came with x2 0.6ohm coils – the Aspire PockeX Box comes with just one – plus a 1.2ohm and all Pockex coils are cross compatible.

Apart from the smart side-by-side design, this version features an adjustable airflow which will of course let you fine tune your vape.

The tank is attached to the battery section and the acrylic tube can removed for cleaning. After taking it on and off a few times, the o-rings are tight, and of course the coil and tank screws into the mod so it won’t be going anywhere.

It’s a simple top fill design and I’ll talk more about that a little later.

Design and Build Quality

Side-by-side styled mods have made a bit of comeback this year with Aspire releasing some absolute crackers as you’ll have seen from above.

I guess you’re either a fan of them or not – I kind of like them – and certainly prefer them to pen styled vape kits.

pockeX pen and box

So yeah, and stating the obvious, the Aspire PockeX Box is a side by side design with a bit of AIO chucked in.

It’s quite a heavy little thing – I’m guessing that’s the generous 2000mAH battery.

The body of the mod is made from toughened plastic with a very nice grippy pimpled surface – nice feel to it.

The tank has a different look to the original PockeX’s – this one of course having and AFC ring and it’s clear rather than caged.

afc

The fire button is sited quite high up but is comfortable for thumb firers – those that prefer the finger might need to fiddle about a bit…ooer!

The fire button is a tiny bit rattly but has a decent enough throw to it – certainly not spongy.

So a solidly built little kit that has some weight to it with all the moving parts doing their jobs nicely.

I’ve had this for about a week and my only issue at the moment is the AFC ring is a little stiff – hopefully that will loosen up a little over time – it certainly means it stays put in your pocket or bag!

How Does the Aspire PockeX Box Perform?

Just like the previous renditions of this popular vape kit, the Aspire PockeX Box is about as simple as vaping gets.

The only things you really need to do is swap out the coils when needed – alter the airflow to suit and fill it up and vape – easy!

aspire pockeX box components

Both of those actions are easy peasy making this ideal for a brand new vaper.

The key here I guess is what style of vaping are you after – and as always this will be down to the coils you use.

The included PockeX 1.2 ohm U-Tech Coil is designed for MTL vaping – a tighter vape especially using the airflow.

Whilst the 0.6ohm is designed for DTL – as in airier – however the airflow can tighten that up to a restricted direct lung hit.

So let’s take a quick look and see if that is indeed the case:

Aspire PockeX Box 0.6ohm Coil

I have a feeling the world and his uncle has used this coil at some point!

Aspire states this is best between 18/20w however given you can’t change the wattage it’s a bit irrelevant on this kit.

06 coil

As expected the flavour is pretty good – OK – slightly better than pretty good.

I still don’t think it matches my go to Aspire Nautilus coils – but still a decent taste – decent vapour too.

I found even with the airflow wide open, this is a rather tight vape.

With 10 being very airy this is 6 to 7 – so expect a very restricted direct lung hit.

Aspire PockeX Box 1.2ohm Coil

I used the same coil in my review of the Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition so have a bit of a benchmark to work from.

Once again this coil seems to take 3 to 4 fills to kick into life – flavour wise that is – so stick with it!

1.2 coil

In this acrylic tank this coil still falls a little short on flavour – it’s OK – just not popping the juice that much.

And trust me almost closed off the airflow and this coil gives a really tight vape – out of 10 with ten being loose this one’s an easy 5 to 6.

Even wide open it’s still a very tight vape – proper MTL as we say 🙂

Pros

  • Dead simple to use
  • Amazing battery longevity
  • Choice of coils + vape styles
  • Decent flavour
  • Fast charging
  • Tough smart design

Cons

  • AFC ring very stiff [still]

Final Review Verdict

The Aspire Pockex duo of vape kits have proved extremely popular, especially with smokers looking for an easy first device.

In fact my long time smoker sister packed up using the one I gave her, and now uses the Anniversary edition.

The Aspire PockeX Box will probably be going to her too, and not because I don’t like it – I just don’t have a use for it.

You’d have to prise the Aspire Nautilus Prime X out of my cold dead hands – and there’s my issue with the Aspire PockeX kits.

It boils down to the flavour off those U-Tech coils for me.

I just don’t think they’re on a par with the Nautilus ones – it’s that simple.

However, for brand new or intermediate vapers, I’ve noticed many swear by them and I reckon that could be down to taste buds still subdued due to smoking.

In other words they’re getting decent flavour – only later when trying other Aspire coils will they realize the difference.

Hope that makes sense lol.

Box or Pen..?

It’s also down to style preference – go for the traditional pen or this new side-by-side box – the choice is yours.

I reckon the Aspire PockeX Box is a great little starter kit and if you enjoy the U-Tech coils then I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Have you used any of the Aspire PockeX kits?

Do you LOVE the flavour..?

Is this one you’re going to add to your collection?

In for review we have the new Artery Cold Steel AIO RBA version…

You can also get this in pod form, so just keep in mind that this review is about the RBA version, the body is identical, but they use a different pod.

Artery Cold Steel AIO Product Shot

You might remember that the Cold Steel brand used to be made by EHPro.

Due a restructuring, Cold Steel is now branded as Artery (with the original Cold Steel 100 and 200 remaining under EHPro).

This is the second Cold Steel product from the Artery brand, after the AK 47 Pod kit.

What Can We Expect From the Artery Cold Steel AIO?

As mentioned up the top, this is the rebuildable version of the Cold Steel AIO.

Whereas a lot of manufactures of AIO’s allow you to put a rebuildable section in to their existing pods, with various compromises, Artery has redesigned the pod to take a dedicated rebuildable.

Unfortunately this means that the RBA version has half the e-liquid capacity of the the standard pod (2ml vs 4ml) as the deck takes up a lot more space than a coil does.

I’m quite interested to see how this works, as I often feel like the the rebuildable section of AIOs is there more as an afterthought.

So does it live up to it’s promise? Let’s find out!

As usual, this was sent over for the purpose of review (thank you) however I am not influenced by freebies, and I shall report back honestly on what I find!

Design and Build Quality

The Artery Cold Steel AIO is available in 4 colours, Black (which I received), Stainless Steel, Copper and Gunmetal.

Artery Cold Steel AIO Colourways

Artery Cold Steel AIO – Body

It’s very industrial feeling! Not overly heavy, but it feels very rigid and solid and in the hand.

Obviously it’ll be a fair bit heftier when you put in a 21700 battery.

Artery Cold Steel AIO Branding

The ridges that run down the device make it very easy to hold, quite grippy. Feels almost like it should be the magazine of an assault rifle. Imagery that Artery definitely lean into when you see cross hairs popping up on the screen as you power it on!

On either side you’ve got airflow holes to supply air to your pod, because they’re so high up, you’re unlikely to end up blocking them, no matter how you hold the device.

Down on one side you also have “Cold Steel AIO” moulded into the body, with “Designed by Artery” printer underneath.

Artery Cold Steel AIO – Base

Turning it over you can see your battery door, which is a screw down cap type.

It has a large negative indicator on the inside, with the regulatory marks on the outside, inside the tube there’s a positive indicator.

Artery Cold Steel AIO Battery Cap

As usual for a 21700 device, there’s an 18650 adapter sitting inside when you get this.

One thing I did notice about this is that it feels like it grinds a little when you’re screwing it down. It’s not the most reassuring threading in the world, as it feels like you’re cross-threading.

You also have a USB C charging port on the base.

I’m never terribly keen on a charging port being at the bottom, as it means you’ll have to lie down your device to charge it.

However you can always avoid this by using an external charger, which is what I always recommend.

Artery Cold Steel AIO – Pod

To remove the pod from the device you’ve got a push marking with an arrow on the rear.

It’s not immediately clear what you’re supposed to do here, so the trick is to push in on the tab, and then push up.

Artery Cold Steel AIO Pod Release

The pod itself is made from slightly smoked PCTG, so it should be fine with all e-liquids.

The fill hole is on top behind a sliding plastic cover, and I found this to be a bit of pain. It’s got quite high walls on either side of the fill port, so it’s not easy to see where you’re putting the tip of a bottle.

Artery Cold Steel AIO Fill Port

Add to this, if you end up over filling it, or end up with an airlock, you can quickly end up with a lot of e-liquid filling up the small cut out.

It’s OK to do with smaller 50/50 bottles, but anything chubby with a short nozzle, is going to be annoying.

Artery Cold Steel AIO How to Fill

At the top it’s a relatively wide bore 510 drip tip, I did test some of my own drip tips in it, and one thing to watch out for is it’s quite a loose fit. So you may find that if you put your own drip tips on, that they wobble about a bit.

Flipping the pod over you can see the airflow control ring on the base of your deck.

This confused me so much to being with, because it feels more like a tank than a pod (due to the deck) I was expecting an external AFC. Instead we have the same kind of AFC you see on a lot of pod systems.

Removing the deck is easy enough, you just pull it straight down and out.

Artery Cold Steel AIO – Deck

This was a bit of a surprise seeing the deck for the first time.

I’m use to the deck in a pod kit being… tiny, instead, this one has a deck that wouldn’t look out of place on a single coil RTA.

Deck

There is absolutely tons of airflow coming up under and around the coil, and with the positive being on one side and the negative on the other, with 4 places to secure your coil, it doesn’t matter if you have legs pointing the same direction, opposite directions, or if your coil is wrapped clockwise or anti clockwise.

It’s a minor thing, but it’s definitely a pro in my book, as I hate to get a device and realise that my coil is wrapped the wrong way round!

I’m not going to do a full build tutorial on this one, but you can see that it’s pretty easy to do.

With the small adapter you get in the box, you can add a standard 510 to the deck so you can put it on a build tab.

Coil Placement

Alternatively (like I did) you can use this, and the 510 adapter for the device, and build directly on the mod.

Artery Cold Steel AIO Wicked

When the pod is mounted back on the device you can look straight down the drip tip and see your coil, as it’s so close to the mouth piece, I’m hoping we get lots of almost RDA like flavour!

Top of Pod

Screen and Controls

You’ve got a relatively small but clear black and white screen, the fire button is above it, and the +/- buttons are underneath.

Screen

Controls are pretty simple, 5 clicks on/off, with 3 clicks of the fire button to enter the menu giving you these options.

  • Power Mode
  • Temp Mode
  • Voltage Mode
  • By Pass Mode
  • Curve Mode
  • Power Lock/Unlock
  • E-Juice Test

Most of these are fairly self explanatory, and some of them have sub menus.

For example, Power Mode gives you the option of Soft, Normal or Strong, and Temp Mode has Nickel, Stainless Steel, Titanium or TCR.

What’s more interesting is the Power Lock/Unlock and E-Juice Test.

Artery Cold Steel AIO – Power Lock

With the power locked, the device will set a maximum wattage based on the resistance of the coil.

I personally hate these modes, so I always turn it off. But it’s nice that it’s there to keep people within a more-or-less sensible wattage range when they’re starting out.

Artery Cold Steel AIO – E Juice Test

E-Juice Test is a totally new one on me, and I had to look in the manual to see what it was, turns out it’s a dry burn protection.

Now most manufacturers that include this sort of function, rely on temperature sensing to cut the power when it can sense a dry burn.

The downside is that this be a little temperamental, and it only works with certain wires (those that work in temp mode).

Artery has gone a totally different way. Rather than sensing the resistance of the coil, there is actually another connector within the pod that measures the amount of e-liquid so it can tell when it’s running out.

I tested this and it works surprisingly well!

Because of where the sensor is positioned (towards the back of the pod if the fire button is facing you) it can be a little sensitive to angle.

So if you tilt it towards you a lot when you’re relatively low on e-liquid, it will cut in sooner than it needs to.

Obviously this will only work with the pod, as there’s no way for it to test this with a tank when it’s mounted using the 510 adapter.

How Does the Artery Cold Steel AIO Perform?

Airflow and Cloud Production

Right out the gate it’s obvious that this is not designed for mouth to lung!

Direct lung, or restricted direct lung is the order of the day here.

Handcheck

To be honest, that should come as no surprise having seen the massive amount of airflow on the deck.

On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is really tight, and 10 is fully open, this is about an 8. There’s a little bit of restriction, but you can easily manage a full direct lung inhale.

Although I dislike having to take the pod out every time I want to change the airflow, I found there actually wasn’t much point in doing that. Even closing it down so there was only a quarter of the airflow, it didn’t change the draw much at all.

Despite the honeycomb airflow on the deck, I found it to be quite a turbulent vape.

It’s also really noisy, with a constant high pitched “whoosh” whenever you inhale…Not exactly stealthy!

Artery Cold Steel AIO Flavour

I’ve tried a range of builds in this now, on the basis that there must be some secret sauce to get it to perform.

Sadly if there is, I still haven’t managed to crack it!

I used the fused Ni80 coil that came supplied first of all, despite the fact I’m not the biggest fan of Ni80.

Then went on to some of my favourite fused Clapton stainless steel coils.

No matter what coil I put in it though, I could only get the flavour to a level I would describe as “good enough”.

It’s OK, but it doesn’t really pop.

On more complex e-liquids with various flavour notes, I found I couldn’t really distinguish them very well.

And on simple e-liquids with one dominant flavour, everything just felt a little washed out.

As always, this part of the review is quite subjective, and your mileage may vary depending on what coil you run and the e-liquid you use.

As a Mod?

The Cold Steel AIO also comes with a 510 adapter, so if you prefer to use your own tanks then you can do.

510 Adapter

Obviously some of the clever features (like the e-liquid level check) won’t work, as there’s no way for it to communicate with your tank.

However, I actually liked this better as a mod than I did as an AIO.

Not sure that’s what they would want to hear, but it’s the truth. As a mod, it’s a decently small single 21700 mod. Nice rigid feel to it, and you can fit up to a 24/25mm tank on it without any overhand.

Pros

  • Clever e-liquid level check
  • Easy to build and wick
  • Nice to use as a mod

Cons

  • Noisy
  • Filling is awkward
  • No external AFC
  • Flavour is only “ok”

Final Review Verdict

That was the Artery Cold Steel AIO, now for my final thoughts.

In all honesty, there are some things that I really quite like about this.

The deck is really easy to work with, and unlike most other AIO kits that have a rebuildable section, they haven’t tried to cram a deck into the space the coil will normally take up.

However, because you have to use a totally different pod, I would have liked to have seen them lean into this a bit more.

There’s no reason to keep the airflow control on the base of the deck if you’re redesigning the whole pod. I can’t believe there wasn’t some way to manage a proper external AFC.

I’m also not entirely sure who this is aimed at.

If I were looking to get a decent rebuildable, I’d get an RTA and a small 21700 mod, that way I’ve got flexibility.

Alternatively if I already owned and liked the non rebuildable version of this, I might consider picking up the RBA section and pod to give me some more options.

But buying an AIO that is only compatible with a rebuildable section, unless you then buy a secondary pod to take coils? That seems a little weird.

Are you using this one or thinking of buying it?

The Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition is exactly that, a kind of tribute to a hugely popular AIO pen style vape kit.

Indeed this ‘new‘ release has no changes internally whatsoever, the only difference is the new fancy gradient design and colour combos.

aspire pockeX anniversary edition review

Oh, and the x on the end is now a capital X…makes all the difference apparently 😉

I reviewed the original Aspire Pockex AIO back in 2018 and at the time rated it quite highly, especially as a starter kit for smokers looking to quit by switching to vaping.

After that review it was given to my heavy smoking sister who absolutely loved it – and it certainly did its job, for a while anyway lol – no willpower that one…

So given there’s no internal changes, this is pretty much going to be a rehash of the original Aspire Pockex review.

Saying that, it will be interesting to so how and if the Pockex or PockeX stacks up 3 years on in a vape market filled with pod kits.

What Can We Expect From the Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition?

Nothing has changed, so we’re looking at a pen style AIO design with a top fill.

There’s no airflow control or indeed wattage to worry about, it’s all done automatically.

aspire pockeX anniversary edition review colours

There’s a quite large 1500mAH internal battery and that should give you quite a lot of vape time, and you can vape whilst it’s charging – always a bonus with vaping starter kits.

As I’ll probably keep saying, the only change is externally with this fancy gradient style.

OK, the Aspire PockeX Anniversary edition vape kit was sent to me by the UK Aspire Vendor – thank you – and as always my thoughts and opinions are not swayed by freebies.

I’ll try not to repeat myself too much during this review, but really all that’s changed with the Aspire PockeX Anniversary edition is the colour combos…

And those colours now feature a funky fade look in either: Red Gradient – White Gradient – Pink Gradient – Grey Gradient and Gold Gradient.

aspire pockeX anniversary edition

There’s still a 1500mAH internal battery and the option of switching between sub ohm and mouth to lung vaping by swapping the coil.

The kit comes with the 0.6ohm coil for DTL vaping and the 1.2ohm for a tighter MTL draw – read more on the difference between MTL and DTL vape styles.

The Aspire Aspire PockeX Anniversary edition is a top fill – more on that later – and fires using the fire button – also more on that later!

No matter where you are in the world you’ll be getting a 2ml capacity and the kit is compact making it ideal to slip into a pocket or pop into your bag.

Design and Build Quality

The main device is built very well indeed – it’s got a bit of weight to it and feels solid in the hand.

Despite being a pen style AIO, the Aspire PockeX Anniversary edition stands up very well indeed and takes a bit of force to topple it over.

Therefore you can charge whilst it’s standing up – always a bonus as there’s less chance of leaking…more on that in a moment.

The original Aspire Pockex had one niggling issue and that was the rattling fire button.

I’m afraid it’s the same with the Aspire PockeX Anniversary edition – the fire button rattles and moves around, however, the throw is decent enough with a nice click.

Design wise and hey it’s a pen style kit so there’s not a lot you can do to ‘jazz it up‘.

I do like the fade look and the Red Gradient version I received is very eye-catching.

The only design feature I don’t like is the filling method and we’ll look at that next.

Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition – Quick Start Guide

  • x5 clicks of the fire button on and off
  • To fill remove the top cap and fill to line
  • To replace coil screw into top cap
  • Press fire button to vape

Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition LED Colours

  • Base of device is red when charging – green when fully charged
  • Fire button Blue means battery is above 30%
  • Orange light means below 30% – time to charge

How Does the Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition Perform?

I reviewed the original back in 2018 – a different time in very many ways.

So in effect, this is the 3rd anniversary of its release – not really a milestone in the scheme of things…

Pretty much all vape companies release follow-ups to popular kits, with at least some making little tweaks to improve on the original.

As I’ve stated, that’s not the case here – everything remains the same except for the colours.

It’s now 2021 [well spotted me] and yes the original was a good kit at the time – especially for brand new vapers, but the vape industry, has moved on.

So I can only judge the Aspire PockeX Anniversary edition based on today’s market.

How does it fare against the plethora of pod and other similarly styled vape kits out there right now?

Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition Fire Button

First up that fire button.

The original rattled like hell and so does this one.

fire button

You probably can’t see from the photo – but it’s off centre too.

Sure that doesn’t effect it’s performance, it fires on clicking, but it niggles me and my slight OCD.

Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition Filling

In the original review I praised the easy fill system, but as I’ve said, vaping has come a long way in such a short amount of time.

To fill you need to unscrew the top cap and this also brings out the coil – as you can see from the Quick Start Guide, the coil is screwed into the top cap.

aspire pockeX filling

You can stand the top cap upside down so there’s no juice leakage on your desk, lay it on its side and there will be.

You really have to be careful filling the Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition and pay very close attention to the fill level marks.

Failure to do so and as soon as you begin screwing the top cap back on, the juice will displace flooding your coil and leaking everywhere.

A mm or so and it happens, resulting in gurgling and spit back – yuk – so be careful.

Mine hasn’t leaked at all so that’s a good thing – though I have flooded the coil more than once – annoying 🙂

Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition Flavour and Clouds

I rated the original quite highly for flavour – so what do I make of this revised version?

Let’s take a look at the individual Aspire PockeX 0.6 Coils.

Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition 0.6ohm Coil

This one’s designed for sub ohm vapers and is best with slightly thicker e-liquid at 60/40 or 70/30 VG/PG.

There’s no need to worry about wattage, the chip inside sets it for you and there’s no way to alter it.

06 coil

OK, I used the multi award winning Dinner Lady Lemon Tart in this one and had no issues with it wicking.

The flavour was just about touching the good dial – judged after 3 fills – whilst the vapour was decent and temperature wise, it’s on the cool side.

There’s no airflow control, so this is what I’d call a loose restricted lung hit if that makes sense.

Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition 1.2ohm Coil

This one is designed for mouth to lung vapers or those coming straight off the cigarettes.

As an aside, I’d like to have seen this coil pre-installed – I’m sure new vapers would be happier…

1.2 ohm coil

OK, for the review I used 12 Monkey’s Tropika nic salts – we haven’t reviewed the nic salt variety, but I know this flavour extremely well.

Again, the flavour was close to good, but by no means very good.

In fact it seemed to take a little longer – in this case 4 fills – before the coil bedded in and I got passable flavour.

Vapour as you’d expect was a little less – not by much – and again a very cool vape.

The lack of airflow means you vape what the coil gives you and in this case it’s bang on my preferred MTL style – tight, but not too tight.

Pros

  • Dead simple to use
  • Easyish top-fill
  • Easy coil swap
  • Smart new colours
  • Great price
  • Choice of coil options
  • Pass thru – vape whilst charging
  • Great battery life – day and a half on full charge!
  • Great price!

Cons

  • Be careful on the top fill!
  • Fire button rattle and alignment
  • Dare I say nothing new!!!

Final Review Verdict

First up the elephant in the room – the AIO tank.

The tank part is held in place by an o ring and clamped down as you tighten the top cap with the coil connecting to the base.

aio tank

I know a lot of vapers had issues with the original Pockex tank coming away or not sealing properly.

I’ve not had this issue with the Aspire PockeX Anniversary edition and it has been in and out of pockets and my rucksack.

The issue appeared to be when filling. So make sure the tank is pushed down firmly and makes the seal, hold it in place until you begin screwing the top cap down is my best advice.

As I said I’ve had no leaks, but can see how easy it could be if you take your eye off the ball.

AIO stands for All In One by the way, and so it’s a bit of a head scratcher as to why the tank section isn’t all in one and secured.

No biggie and Aspire do sell spare tanks/glass for the PockeX should yours become damaged…

Aspire PockeX Anniversary Edition Overall Performance

Three years ago this was a pretty decent vape kit – especially for new vapers as it allowed both MTL and DTL.

Back then the flavour off the coils was slightly above the average for other kits of its kind, and that’s how its remained.

The flavour is good – but not that good – that has to be down to the PockeX coils.

For an anniversary edition, it might have been nice to see at least a couple of changes, but nope Aspire has just changed the colours.

It may appeal to new vapers or die hard fans of the original Aspire PockeX, but knowing what’s out there now, it’s not one I’d be likely to pick up.

So…

Are you a Pockex or PockeX fan?

How do you find the filling and flavour?

Do let me know in the comments below…I don’t bite…mostly 😉

The Aspire Nautilus Prime X AIO / pod kit review, and this is a follow-up to the original set-up released last autumn.

There’s been some major changes, none more so to the overall design and the fact this new version takes an 18650 battery – more on the updates as we go on.

aspire nautilus prime x aio pod kit review

OK, Aspire really doesn’t need much of an introduction even if you’re brand new to vaping.

It’s one of the most established and indeed respected vape manufacturers on the planet.

Legendary tanks such as the absolutely incredible Cleito sub ohm tank and of course the original Nautilus tank were game-changers in the world of vaping. Both are still going and still on sale and if you haven’t tried either, you really don’t know what you’re missing!

Along the way Aspire has brought out some amazing vape gear including the much loved Aspire Rover 2 kit – the fantastic Pockex starter kit and the recently reviewed and extremely flavourful Favostix pod kit.

Over recent months Aspire has taken a new path collaborating with ‘high end‘ mod makers creating absolute gems such as the: Aspire x NoName Zero.G – the Aspire 9th Tank and the recently reviewed Paradox Mod

What Can We Expect From the Aspire Nautilus Prime X?

Aspire says the new version of the original Prime X is designed to be more ergonomic and trendier

Given Neil Cozens reviewed the early version, and given his sartorial style [or lack of] – it was pretty obvious the trendier version had to be reviewed by a trendy fashion guru – aka me ha!

Aspire Nautilus Prime hand check 1
original prime x

I can be such a bitch…lol…

OK, enough banter…on with the updates…

For a start the Aspire Nautilus Prime X is powered by a single 18650 battery and there’s the very slightest increase in voltage – by .4 to be precise.

The new version comes with x2 pods/cartridges and x2 coils.

The pods are different in that one is designed for the BP coils and the other for the Nautilus series of coils.

The included coils are: Nautilus Mesh Coil 0.7ohm and the BP Mesh Coil 0.3ohm.

All of the Aspire BP and Nautilus coils are compatible with the Prime X but they can only fit in the relevant pod.

New Additions For the Aspire Nautilus Prime X Coming Soon!

Due for release very soon, is an RBA deck and also a 510 adaptor meaning you can use your own tank or dripper rather than the pods/coil combo – loving the sound of that!

If we get them in – or if I open up my dusty wallet and buy them – I’ll update this review…

BTW as you’ll see one of the first things I did after a couple of days testing the Aspire Nautilus Prime X, was buy more coils…as to why…stay tuned it’s all good 🙂

OK, this new version also features a slider air control and a crystal clear colour screen with plenty of options.

afc juice window

The modes included are: Auto/Wattage/Voltage and Bypass – and you can change the screen colours too.

The design of the new version is where things have taken a major change for the better – and we’ll look at that in a moment.

Right then, on with the review and I’d like to thank Aspire UK for sending this to me and as always my thoughts and opinions are not swayed by freebies.

Design and Build Quality

I haven’t had my hands on the original, but straight out of the box and comparing it to the photos of its predecessor, I can see it’s a real and I mean marked improvement design wise.

As you can see, I received the full black version, and I have to say design wise, I absolutely bloody love it and then some.

aspire nautilus prime x buttons and logo

The matching pleather side is cushioned – I guess with a foam of sorts – and is incredibly comfortable to hold – a good grip too.

The very smart silver buttons contrast wonderfully with the blacked out look and are very responsive, with the matching airflow control having a lovely stiff action – it stays in place for sure!

nautilus-prime-x-colours

On my ‘murdered out‘ Charcoal Black version, the logos are unobtrusive, and given they are stamped, they add yet more grip – I like the chosen font too.

Overall and from a design perspective, I am extremely impressed and have to say it adds a touch of class to vaping…as in, I feel I should be wearing a dinner suit whilst vaping this one, rather than PJs lol.

One issue with this kind of murdered out black look in a pod kit is the e-liquid view window.

As you can see, the pods have a very dark tint to them, however, there is a vape juice view window of sorts, but it’s my tired old eyes that can’t see through it clearly…better eyes than mine will.

Filling is also an issue if you have poor eyesight, I have to hold it against a light or window to check I’m not overfilling.

solid battery door
solid battery door

Build wise, and the Aspire Nautilus Prime X pod kit is exceptional to say the least.

The matte finish zinc alloy body adds a bit of weight to the device, and it’s tough enough to take a few knocks.

It is rather weighty but not quite the ‘brick in your hand‘ if you catch my drift!

So…let’s see how the Aspire Nautilus Prime X vapes.

Aspire Nautilus Prime X Quick Start Guide

It’s all very straightforward:

  • x5 clicks of the fire button on and off
  • x3 clicks of the fire button locks and unlocks
  • Holding down left and right buttons enters menu option
  • Scroll and use fire button to select option
  • To fill – pull out the pod/cartridge and fill via port

How Does the Aspire Nautilus Prime X Perform?

Quite beautifully is the simple answer…review over then lol.

From the unboxing, filling, personalizing – the crystal clear screen – and then vaping on it – the whole vape experience is superb.

screen

OK, there’s maybe a couple of purely subjective niggles that I’ll get on to later, but first a look at the included pods and coils.

BP Mesh Coil 0.3ohm – Best 30-40w

I used an old favourite of mine, the 70/30 PG/VG Wick Liquor Contra and had no issues with wicking.

This coil is preinstalled inside the BP pod and is predominantly designed for lower wattage sub ohm vaping.

aspire nautilus prime x bp pod

However, thanks to the airflow control, you can shut it right down and get a more than respectable tight MTL vape – does feel a tad warm to me though.

My vaping sweet spot was 33w with the airflow 3/4 open giving me a restricted direct lung hit with good to very good flavour.

I’ve been vaping on this coil on and off every day for the past 10 – averaging about 3 hours per day I guess and it’s showing no sign of deterioration.

Good coil – good flavour – great clouds.

Nautilus Mesh Coil 0.7ohm – Best 15-25w

For the taste test on this coil I opted for the Dinner Lady Lemon Tart nic salt…mostly to see if there was any leakage from this runnier vape juice.

I needn’t have worried, once again – and as expected – the coil and pod coped admirably with not even the tiniest amount of residue left.

aspire nautilus prime x pod

The flavour was superb, with all the notes I love from this multi-award winning e-liquid coming to the fore. It really did take me back to those halcyon days of this juice inside the original and legend that is the Nautilus tank…flashbacks to more innocent times 🙂

My sweet spot is at 22w with the airflow again 3/4 open – absolutely perfect.

Nautilus 2S Coil Inside the Prime X

As I mentioned earlier, after a couple of days I did buy more coils, and NOT because I was unhappy with those included either.

It’s more the capacity of those bloody pods…

nautilus 2s coils

Seriously now, let’s hope the new UK vape regulations will scrap the silly 2ml rule – have your say on that HERE – it will take a moment and is VERY important.

With the BP pod/coil being sub ohm – that 2ml capacity is annoying as you seem to be filling it up every 20 minutes or so – depending on how much you vape of course.

To be honest, it’s almost like having a guzzling dripper on your mod…

It’s the same with the lower wattage coil – it seems to empty far far to quickly. Then again, that could be me sucking up Dinner Lady Lemon Tart like it’s going out of fashion.

However, I did buy the coils I’m familiar with, and yup, using the the Nautilus 2S 0.7ohm mesh did seem to slow the juice rate down a little…guess it’s just me being a greedy sod.

Pros

  • Great flavour
  • Great battery life
  • Good clouds
  • Stunning design
  • High quality build and materials
  • Choice of modes and can swap the screen colours
  • Compatible with most of your favourite Nautilus coils
  • Easy fill
  • Easy to operate especially using Auto mode

Cons – Purely Subjective!

  • The TPD version is a proverbial pain in arse with the constant filling – NOT Aspire’s fault!
  • Pods have a very dark tint – tricky to see juice level even with a juice window
  • No extra air escape hole on the pods – so be careful it can flood out!

Final Review Verdict

It feels like I’ve been spoiled as a vape reviewer just lately with a wealth of really solid vape gear landing on my desk.

The Aspire Nautilus Prime X not only joins them, but is without doubt one of the very best vape kits I’ve ever had the pleasure to use.

Stunning build and design, simplicity personified in the way it’s operated and a fantastic performance from those Aspire coils we all know and love.

What more could you want? Apart from bigger capacity for those of us still stuck in the dark ages of the TPD!

And don’t forget, with an RBA and a 510 adaptor on the way, the Aspire Nautilus Prime X can only get better.

Bravo Aspire – take a bow 😉

As great looking pod kits go you’d be hard pressed to find one as gorgeous as the new FamoVape Magma AIO.

Trust me, my photos don’t do this one justice – it really is a beauty and then some…

famovape magma aio reviewedIt’s designed to look like a smart phone and it certainly pulls that off and looks and feels great in the hand.

As to if it vapes as well as it looks – we shall see in this vape review.

We’ve reviewed a trio of Famovape vape kits: the Chillax starter kit the sub ohm Vector tank and the very well received Magma 200w mod where this gorgeous little guy gets its name from.

So…not too many vape device to the Famovape name – but what they have produced have gone down well with both vapers and vape reviewers.

For the record, the FamoVape Magma AIO was sent to me direct from Famovape – thank you – and as always freebies in no way affect my thoughts and opinions.

Right…on with the review.

What Can We Expect From the FamoVape Magma AIO Kit?

Good flavour and ease of use is the obvious answer!

Not many pod, or come to that vape kits, can pull off both MTL and DTL style vaping – it will be interesting to see if the FamoVape Magma AIO can do it.

AIO’s and pod kits need to be dead simple to use to – no faffing about with swapping coils or filling it up.

It’s most definitely a very stylish elegant sleek looking vape kit – as to if it’s style over substance – we shall see in this review.

Key Features

This is an AIO [all in one] styled pod kit and a more beautifully crafted vape set-up you’d struggle to find – it’s a stunner.

It’s ultra slim and manufactured with high quality materials.

famovape magma aio in hand

The pod has a 2ml capacity with a dead easy fill system and the mouthpiece is rotatable through 360 degrees.

Powered by an internal 900mAH battery it maxes out at a respectable 40w.

There’s x2 coils in the box: 0.4Ω for sub ohm and 1.2Ω for MTL vaping.

And the FamoVape Magma AIO is available in a range of very sexy looking colour combos: Dark Blue – Elegant Black – Fire Feather – Rainbow – Snow White and Dreamland which I received.

famovape magma aio coloursBTW – I have looked for more photos of the colours but there are not many to be found – sorry 🙂

Design and Build Quality

I’ve already touched on the design of the FamoVape Magma AIO – so one word…WOW!

This is absolutely stunning and then some!

famovape magma aio screen

Famovape says it’s designed to look and feel like a mobile phone and they’ve definitely pulled that off!

It’s definitely slimline but still manages to feel perfectly weighted and the moment you touch it you know this is a quality piece of kit.In Hand

The pod is kind of T-shaped and as you can see slots into the body of the device adding a tinted glass stripe down both sides which only adds to the very pleasing look.

All the working parts fit together smoothly and even the fill port feels like it won’t be snapping off any time soon.

I have mentioned the slightly tinted pod and to be honest it is a little bit of a struggle to see your juice level – but holding it against the light helps obviously.

The push ‘n pull coils slot in and out smoothly too.Couldn’t be easier to change the Magma coil. Simply line up the arrows. How to change the Famovapr Magma coil

Great looks – great materials and extremely well put together…

Let’s hope it vapes just as well 🙂

How Does the FamoVape Magma AIO Perform?

OK…for the MTL 1.2Ω coil I used the SuperGood Cocktail Selection Nic Salts Cosmopolitan.

filling pod

And for the DTL the same brand and flavour but in 70/30 PG/VG.

FamoVape Magma AIO 1.2ohm Coil – 8 to 15w

I began at the low end of 8w and was pleasantly surprised – a decent warmish vape with decent flavour to boot.

I didn’t fiddle about and went straight to the max of 15w.

m2 coil

A much much better vape with plenty of good flavour and the taste was impressive to say the least – good clouds too for an MTL coil.

FamoVape Magma AIO 0.4ohm Coil – 20 to 40w

Again I began vaping at the bottom end of the scale and again I was pretty impressed.

Plenty of vapour in the mouth and thick and tasty too – with bags of clouds – impressive.

m1 coil

At 30w it’s fair to say the vape warmed up as did the flavour and cloud production…

At the max of 40w I was in vaping heaven – great flavour and amazing clouds for such a little guy…

FamoVape Magma AIO – Airflow

Yep – this one has adjustable airflow and is on the base of the pod.

The good news it it can be changed in situ and moves very easily indeed – yet stays in position.

famovape magma aio pod

Wide open and this is an airy vape whilst closed off as you might expect it’s a very tight draw.

Little or no turbulence and it’s a very smooth vape indeed.

FamoVape Magma AIO Rotatable Mouthpiece

I really like this feature!

It might sound silly saying that – but it’s dependent on the way you hold and vape the FamoVape Magma AIO.

Side on is my preferred way so being able to adjust the mouthpiece means it’s very comfortable indeed.

rotatable mouth piece

However my partner [ooo get me all loved up lol] prefers it face on – ooer – so to speak haha.

Anyway – it’s a nice simple little touch that really does make a big difference.

Pros

  • Stunning design and I mean stunning
  • Excellent build quality
  • Slimline – ideal for your pocket or bag
  • Adjustable airflow
  • Good flavour off both coils
  • Great clouds
  • Super fast charging – 50 minutes flat to full battery
  • Easy to use
  • Good price

Cons

  • Tinted pod limits juice level view – minor niggle

Final Review Verdict

I like vape review deadlines – I love the sound they make as they woosh past my ear…

And whilst I’ve been under no editorial pressure to get this one out in quick smart time…

I have been asked by my partner on an almost hourly scale since she first saw it if I’d finished the review yet.

Not because she wanted to read it I might add lol – more because she wanted the Famovape Magma AIO so badly lol – and trust me she’s very hard to please – vape wise I mean lol.

She absolutely loves it – as do I – and seriously, she rarely puts it down.

So…forget my recommendation – I mean what the heck do I know about vaping lol – if it has impressed the missus – then it really must be something special…trust me 😉

Good flavour – good clouds – longevity in the coils – a choice of vape styles – extremely well put together topped off with a truly stunning design says it all.

I’m or should that be we, are very impressed and have NO hesitation in recommending the FamoVape Magma AIO for both beginners and even hobbyist vapers.

So…

Have you got your hands on this vape kit?

Like what you see?

It seems like only the other day I was reviewing the Oxva Origin, so I was very pleasantly surprised to receive the Oxva Origin X for review.

In my closing notes I mentioned how impressed I was with the coils and how I was keen to see what they come out with next if they continued to use them.

Oxva Origin X 3 Configurations

Along with a new coil, this new version has some optional accessories that really underline their commitment to producing a true AIO (All in One).

What Can We Expect From The Origin X by Oxva?

Oxva as a company are still fairly new on the scene, their CEO is Justin Lai who is known for designing the Aegis range of mods, and the Zeus range of tanks.

You can read Harley’s review of one of the latest Aegis mods here, and Neil’s review of the Zeus X Mesh RTA here.

Their first AIO was called the X, then they released the Origin which I reviewed here, and today I’m going to be reviewing the Origin X. Like the Origin, this is a pod mod/AIO, powered by a single 18650.

Oxva Origin X Cover Shot

So slightly confusing naming conventions aside, the biggest change from the Origin is definitely going to be the additional accessories that are now available.

Like some other manufacturers they have released a 510 adapter plate, to use the Origin X like a mod with any of your favourite tanks.

For people that want to play around with rebuilding, they already had a rebuildable coil.

Now they have added a rebuildable RDTA section that allows you to put in considerably bigger coils as well as dual coils.

So three different possible configurations means there’s a lot to cover!

This was sent over free of charge for the purpose of review directly from Oxva, thank you.

As usual, this will in no way impact my review and I will report back honestly with what I find.

Design and Build Quality

Side by side, the Origin X looks very similar to the Origin, it’s comfortable in the hand and surprisingly small.

Oxva Origin X Colourways

It comes in 4 different colours, with Black Carbon Fibre, Pine Green, Marble Grey and Black & Red Trim.

Oxva Origin X – the Body

The battery door is held in place by 4 strong magnets. You’ve got clear battery polarity indicators, but they could have been a touch more obvious if they’d been coloured white rather than just moulded into the plastic.

It takes a single 18650, and a battery ribbon helps you remove it.

Oxva Origin X Battery Door Removed

I never had any issues with the battery door coming off unexpectedly. In fact the magnets on the battery door are so strong, that it’s a good thing they give you a little fingernail gap to help you to remove it.

Oxva Origin X Battery Door Opening

In a change from the Origin, they have now put the charging port on the base, as well as the regulatory marks.

I’m not a fan of charging ports being on the base as it means you will have to lie the Oxva down to charge it. However I would always recommend charging 18650 batteries with an external charger, so this may well be a non-issue.

Oxva Origin X Base and Charging Port

I did test charging it via this port, and I was impressed that even with the biggest coil, I didn’t get any leaking. In another change from the Origin, they have upgraded the port to be USB C, so that gets a big thumbs up from me.

The body itself is very lightweight, and it feels a little plastic-y. However that’s pretty subjective, and I realize that not everyone is as fond of stainless steel dual battery mods as I am!

Despite a hint of plastic, it still feels very rigid, and there’s no flex I noticed.

Oxva Origin X – the Pod

The pod itself is made from clear PCTG. The drip tip is now built in to the pod and is very comfortable.

Unlike the Origin, the pod is now put in from the top, so there’s a little less dismantling of the unit when you need to fill up/change your coil.

Oxva Origin X Pod

One of my complaints of the Origin was that they used a non-standard sleeve style drip tip (that I worried about losing!).

With the drip tip now moulded into the pod that ceases to be an issue, and it allows your mouth to be really close to the coil for hopefully excellent flavour.

Oxva Origin X Magnetic Attachment

It’s a fairly wide bore on the drip tip, so I would say this device is definitely set up more for DTL vaping rather than MTL, though that’s not to say you can’t MTL with it.

Read more about the difference between Direct Lung and Mouth to Lung here.

The fingernail hole you had to remove the battery cover, is repeated on the pod. With a little cut out on the back, and a ridged section at the front, you can easily get enough grip to remove it.

Oxva Origin X Drip Tip

Which is good as the magnets are super strong!

How To Fill The Oxva Origin X Pod

Remove the pod from the device and turn it upside down.

Pull out the silicone stopper and fill with you preferred e-liquid.

Oxva Origin X How to fill

It’s a relatively small opening, so larger bottles might be a problem.

There’s also no secondary hole to allow air to escape, so be careful to not seal the fill hole with e-liquid.

How To Change The Oxva Origin X Coil

Changing your coil is going to be slightly different depending on whether you’re using the new 0.2Ω coil or not.

On all the previous coils you have an airflow ring on the base that you need to unscrew once you’ve pulled out your coil, and swap over to the new one.

Oxva Origin X Replace Coil

The 0.2Ω does not have this ring, it is always fully open.

Regardless which coil you are using, you just need to remove your pod from the device – turn it upside, pull out your coil, and put in a new one.

Remember to leave your coil to sit for 5 minutes to make sure it is fully saturated.

Helpfully the device itself will tell you there’s a new coil when you reinsert the pod and prevent you from firing it immediately.

If you want to override this, just press the wattage button and it will let you back in.

Oxva Origin X – 510 Adapter

The 510 adapter allows you to use the Oxva Origin X as a single battery mod.

It locks into place with the same magnetic arrangement as the other pods, and you then screw your favourite tank on top.

Oxva Origin X 510 Attachment

The 510 pin isn’t spring mounted, but it does have a little bit of play to account for different pin lengths, it feels like it is probably mounted on a silicone gasket of some description.

In use a 22mm tank looks absolutely perfect on it, and you can happily go up to 24mm without really worrying about overhang.

Oxva Origin X – RDTA Section

Up until now Oxva only offered the RBA section for people that wanted to rebuild.

You can click here to see my thoughts from the Oxva Origin Review.

Oxva Origin X RDTA Section

This new rebuildable is one of the most interesting accessories for the Origin X! A post less, dual coil, RDTA!

As you can see in the photo, it’s certainly a lot bigger than using just the normal pod, as your coils sit at the top of the tank, with the wicks dropping down below them.

Oxva Origin X – RDTA Deck

The deck is a standard dual postless configuration. The grub screws require an Allen key to unscrew, and you have a decent amount of space to fit more complex wires in.

Oxva Origin X RDTA Deck

You can either set it up as a dual coil, or you can put one bigger single coil in.

On either side of the deck, you can see the wick ports that allow your wick to drop down into the tank.

Oxva Origin X – Tank

The RDTA pod comes apart into three pieces.

You have your main tank section of PCTG, which unusually is L shaped – unlike the normal pod, you can fill this when it’s on the device.

This L shaped tank is supposed to help make sure your wicks are always saturated, as until you vape through the top section of the reservoir, they are always going to be immersed in e-liquid.

Oxva Origin X RDTA Pieces

After that you have your top cap and airflow control.

This locks into place with a couple of cut outs on either side, allowing you to spin the black section around to open/close the mirrored airflow of three large holes.

Also the drip tip is removeable, it is a standard 810, so if you prefer to put your own one on, then feel free to!

How to Build the Oxva Origin X RDTA Section

I’m using the prebuilt coils and agleted cotton that came with the device for this section.

The coils are Ni80, 2.5mm ID, 26ga*2 + 38ga. In use they ohmed out to 0.24Ω.

  • Unscrew the deck screws

Oxva Origin X Unscrew Deck Screws

  • Trim the coil legs, I trimmed them to 5mm using the Coily Tool

Oxva Origin X Trim Leads

  • Insert you coil legs, tighten the screws and straighten the coils

Oxva Origin X Straighten Coils

  • Dry fire the coils to get them glowing evenly, rake with ceramic tweezers as needed

Oxva Origin X Glow Coils

  • Insert the wicks through the coils

Oxva Origin X Insert Cotton

  • Trim the wicks so they will reach down into the tank section

Oxva Origin X Cut Cotton

  • Thin the cotton out with tweezers and fluff slightly

Oxva Origin X Fluff Cotton

  • Place the wick into the wick holes, be careful not to overstuff it, don’t force it in

Place Cotton

  • Your wick should be poking down so you can just see it when looked at from the side

Correct Wicking

  • Prime the coils well with e-liquid (any excess will drain into the tank)

Prime Coils

  • Remove the rubber bung and fill with e-liquid

Fill RDTA

  • Replace the top cap, making sure the teeth lock into place

Replace Top Cap

Oxva Origin X – Screen and Controls

Just like with the Origin before it, this is a simple two button device.

Your fire button has a 5 clicks on/off, as well as 3 clicks to lock it.

Screen

It’s a minor niggle, but I wish the 3 clicks only locked the adjustment button, instead it locks the whole thing so you can’t fire it either.

I did feel that the fire button was maybe a little far down the device, as when I picked it up I’d often try to put my thumb on the ridged section of the pod. I soon adjusted though.

Your wattage adjustment button is below the screen and it will only scroll up.

Press and hold and it will scroll quickly through the whole range (5-60W) in 1W increments.

When it reaches the max it will show “Power Max” and then round robin when you press it again.

In my review sample the device sets a maximum wattage depending on the resistance of the coil. This is fine for the stock coils, but a little frustrating for the rebuildable options.

Happily I have heard from the manufacturer that this is not going to be the case on the retail version.

The wattage will be automatically set to what it thinks is right for the coil, but it will not be restricted.

Big thumbs up for listening to feedback on that one Oxva!

The screen shows basic information including Wattage, resistance, volts being drawn, battery indicator and puff counter. If you wish to reset the puff counter, just press and hold both buttons.

How Does the Oxva Origin X Perform?

I have tested out all 4 of the coils, the RDTA section and the RBA coil for this review.

In use I found that the RBA coil and the 3 Unicoils with the airflow control ring behave pretty much identically to how they did in the Oxva Origin.

Handcheck Pod

For this reason I’m going to be focusing on the new 0.2Ω coil and the RDTA section, but if you want to read my thoughts on the other coils, click here to jump to that section in the Origin review.

Oxva Origin X – 0.2Ω Coil – Airflow and Cloud Production

The 0.2Ω coil does away with the replaceable airflow ring at the base that the other coils use, instead it is all open, all the time.

Because of this, and the large bore of the coil, this gives a really nice unrestricted DL vape. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being totally unrestricted, this is about a 9.

0.2 Ω coil

Cloud production is also seriously impressive. For a dinky little AIO, this thing is capable of fogging out rooms surprisingly quickly! The clouds are also really thick, luscious seems to be the right word.

Oxva Origin X – 0.2Ω Coil – Flavour

Flavour is similarly impressive to the cloud production.

I used a variety of different e-liquids to test this out, including Shandy from Fizzle e-liquids at 70/30.

Impressively the coil seemed to take almost no time to break in, and I was getting great flavour from the word go.

Really punchy, full-on flavour from this coil, in fact it is even a little bit better than their two previous sub-ohm coils, which I rated highly!

To make sure it wasn’t a “one hit wonder” I tested out spare coils with a range of other e-liquids, and I wasn’t able to find a flavour profile that it didn’t perform well with.

Coil life is another area that gets a big tick from me, I’ve been vaping on the same coil for well over a week, and I haven’t noticed any drop in flavour.

Oxva Origin X – RDTA Section

I was really impressed at how much this feels like a “proper” rebuildable tank.

The airflow control ring gives you enough control, and wide open is a 9 on the 1-10 scale.

Handcheck RDTA

Flavour and vapour are strong and well defined, though it’s important to remember that it can only go up to 60W.

So if you’re building dual coils, you might want to aim for a little higher resistance than you might normally.

I’m a big fan of top coiling RDTAs, as I love how close your mouth is to the coil (like a dripper) but having the capacity of a tank, that’s not to say that they’re without issues though.

The L-shaped tank helps to fix the problem of your e-liquid not reaching the wick and saturating it.

Similarly it means that you don’t have to have enormously long wicks dropping all the way down the length of the tank.

I do worry that after a while the tank may pick up loose threads of cotton over time, but in my time testing it I haven’t run into this.

Oxva Origin X As A Mod

I used the Oxva with a variety of different tanks and rebuildables to see if there were any issues.

On my first try I was a little disappointed that it set a maximum wattage based on coil resistance, as not every manufacturers coils are going to behave in the same way, even less so when you build your own!

Tank on 510 Adapter

However I’ve since learned that they listened to this feedback and so this isn’t going to be the case in the retail version.

The other thing I was worried about was that the 510 adapter might be a bit loose, and lead to the tank and adapter separating from the rest of the device.

Happily the super strong magnets that they use mean that the adapter stays very firmly connected to the device.

It’s easy enough to pull the whole thing out when you want to, for example if you want to switch from the pod to it being a mod, but otherwise things stay where you put them.

I even held it upside down a bit and shook, and it didn’t go anywhere! Obviously the weight of your tank may make a difference here, so I wouldn’t recommend it.

Oxva Origin X Battery Life

As always battery life is going to be based on lots of different factors.

Using the device at 55W on the 0.2Ω coil I was able to get about 150 long puffs out of it.

For a single 18650 battery (2500mAh) this compares pretty favourably with other mods I’ve tested.

Of course there’s not much else to power on a small device like this, the screen is small and switches itself off quite quickly.

Pros

  • Great flavour
  • Useful accessories to use as either a mod or an RDTA
  • Really neat, comfortable device

Cons

  • Fill holes a little small and no secondary hole to allow air to escape
  • No way to lock just the wattage button and still allow it to fire

Final Review Verdict

I think it’s fair to say that Oxva has knocked it out the park with the Origin X.

A big part of that is down to the great coils they’re using.

As I said in my original Origin review, I’m really glad to see that they are maintaining cross compatibility with all of their devices so far.

Flavour is spot on, and the cloud production is impressive!

Having not one, but two options, for people that want to rebuild, is another big plus for me, as it gives you plenty of opportunity to tailor the vape to exactly what you want.

As a whole, it gets an almost perfect set of scores. But I’m a big believer that nothing is perfect, and there are still things that could make it better.

A larger fill hole, coupled with another opening to release the air would have made filling a little bit easier.

I think this is really a device that can grow with the vaper.

You can start off with the pod and stock coils – if in the future you want to get a tank and try something new, you can get the 510 adapter and not have to buy a new mod.

Then for those that want to experiment with building their own coils, you can pick up either the RBA section and continue to use the pod, or go with the rather impressive RDTA section.

All in all, it’s been a pleasure to test this kit.

It’s good to see that it’s not just the big, established companies that can make a splash in the hyper competitive world of AIO’s.

So is this a set-up you’re interested in getting your hands on?

The new Oxva Origin AIO is certainly a smart looking device and comes from a new vape company with a named designer you might be familiar with.

Pod systems seem to have been on the way out for a while now, so it’s good to see a new vape company cutting its teeth on an AIO’s.

Oxva Origin Three Quarter View and Box

I have to admit that I hadn’t heard of this company before. Cynically I wondered whether this might be another no-name brand that quickly disappears.

However a little bit of research turned up the fact that the CEO (and designer of the Origin) is none other than Justin Lai.

If that name is familiar, it’s because he is the designer behind the Geekvape Aegis line of mods and the Zeus tanks!

So this company definitely has some design chops behind it!

What Can We Expect From The Oxva Origin AIO?

As an AIO it has a removable tank with replaceable coils, and it also uses a single removable 18650.

In fact Oxva say this is the smallest AIO that takes an 18650 battery and fires up to 40W!

This was sent over free of charge from Oxva – thank you – but as usual I will report back honestly on what I find!

Design and Build Quality

The Oxva Origin comes in 5 different colours:
Oxva Origin Colourways
Black and Red, Brilliant Black, Muzo Green, Silver Aurora, and the one that I’m reviewing, Black Carbon Fibre.

Oxva Origin AIO – Drip Tip

Starting at the top, we might as well start with my one niggle with the kit.

The drip tip is perfectly comfortable, which is good as you’re not going to be able to change it easily, it’s a sleeve design that is held on with two o-rings.

Oxva Origin Drip tip next to drip tip connector

I can see why they’ve gone down this route, as it allows the tip to be closer to the coil than if you had enough space for a 510 drip tip.

But I still think it’s a bit disappointing, especially as it can wobble a bit and I’m frightened of losing it.

Oxva Origin AIO – Body

This is a really comfortable device, it fits in the hand wonderfully.

Oxva Origin Opened to show battery and tank

To gain access to your tank and battery compartment, there’s a single removable side panel. This has a little cut out to get your fingernail in to remove.

Oxva Origin Open Here marking on side of device

On one side you have a little window to check your e-liquid level. The tank has a moulded section that fills this window, so it doesn’t get obscured by shadow.

Oxva Origin Side View

Below this you have three airflow holes, and under that is the brand name OXVA in silver and red – very slick.

Oxva Origin AIO – Tank

The 3ml tank is made of clear PCTG – the TPD version does of course have a 2ml capacity.

To remove it from the kit you pull it from the right hand side, and it pivots out around the connector.

Oxva Origin Pod Removed from Device

It’s really satisfying how this spins out, and it’s nice and easy to do.

Which is a good thing, as unfortunately, the airflow control is not really accessible without removing the tank.

This is a pet peeve of mine with AIO systems, and I wish more would allow you to adjust your airflow on the fly, without having to take things to pieces.

How To Fill The Oxva Origin AIO

  • Remove the side panel from the device
  • Take the tank out by spinning it round (not required but recommended)
  • Remove the silicone stopper and fill with your preferred e-liquid
  • Replace the stopper, reinstall your tank, and remember to wait 5-10 minutes if you’re using a new coil

Oxva Origin How to fill

How To Change The Oxva Origin AIO Coil

NB: The tank should be almost totally empty before doing this

  • Remove the side panel from the device
  • Take the tank out by spinning it round
  • Invert the tank and pull the coil straight up and out
  • Unscrew the Airflow Ring from the coil you’re removing
  • Screw the Airflow Ring onto the new coil
  • Push the complete assembly back into the tank, being careful to line up the two flat edges
  • Fill it up and then put everything back together

Oxva Origin How to change your coil
Interestingly if the device detects that you’re using a new coil, it won’t fire until it either times out (I think it’s 5 minutes) or you press the wattage button.

This is a nice touch to stop you accidentally burning out your coil if you haven’t switched it off before changing it!

Oxva Origin AIO – Screen and Controls

This is a two button device, and it’s super simple.

You have a fire button with an LED ring. This fires pretty much instantly thanks to the Photon chip they are using, and has a 5 click on, 5 click off.

Oxva Origin Controls

Below this you have your screen, showing wattage, volts being drawn, the resistance of your coil, and your battery life.

Oxva Origin Screen

At the very base of this side is your USB port. It’s capable of 2A charging which is good, but sadly is a micro USB, rather than the increasingly common USB C.

Oxva Origin AIO – Wattage

Below this is your wattage button, it only adjusts the wattage up starting at 5W, and round robins once you get to 40W.

It scrolls super quickly, taking about 2 seconds to scroll through the whole range.

If you are using the 0.5Ω coil, it will only allow you to go up 25W, and the 1.0Ω coil goes to 15W.

I can see the reasoning here, to stop you burning out your coil with too high a wattage.

It makes sense for the new vaper to have this safety feature in place, but as someone that knows what they’re doing, I kinda wish it didn’t impose it’s limits on me.

Oxva Origin AIO – RBA Section

As with most RBAs for AIOs, this is super tiny.

But it’s not that difficult to work on. To test it out I installed a simple round wire coil, but you could get away with a thin clapton or similar.

Oxva Origin RBA Handcheck

In the package for the RBA, you get a 510 adapter that you screw on to the base.

This allows you to put it on resistance tester to build, and also dry burn your coil.

Oxva Origin RBA on build station

Once you’ve unscrewed the small cross headed screws, you just need to pop your coil between the coil and the post, and tighten the screw down to hold it in place.

Use a coil jig to adjust your coil and make sure it’s centred over the air hole.

RBA Coil Positioned

Wicking it up is similarly easy, just make sure not to over stuff it.

Although you have a decent amount of space for the wick to sit in the cut outs, you don’t want to choke this off when you screw on the top cap, so be prepared to thin it out slightly.

RBA coiled, wicked and primed

Once you’ve finished wicking it, drop some e-liquid on to it to pre-saturate it – known as priming the coil.

After this you can screw the top part of the RBA section down. My own attempt in the below picture has just a bit too much cotton in it, but subsequent attempts were better.

RBA Section full built

Once that’s all done, you can screw the RBA section back onto your airflow adapter and put it in the tank ready to go!

How Does the Oxva Origin AIO Perform?

I’ve really been enjoying my time with the Oxva Origin, it’s a little flavour machine with it’s two stock coils.

Oxva produce a 0.3Ω mesh, a 0.5Ω mesh, and a 1.0Ω Kanthal round wire. As well as their RBA section I looked at above.

Coil Choices

For these tests I mostly used Fizzle’s Shandy e-liquid at 70/30 VG/PG for the two mesh coils, and SVC Labs Berry Ice at 50/50 for the 1.0Ω and the RBA (which I built as a 0.9Ω).

Handcheck

You can read more about VG and PG here.

Oxva Origin AIO – 0.3Ω Coil – Airflow and Cloud Production

There’s bags of airflow with this coil.

Fully open it’s an 8.5 on a 1 to 10 scale from tightest to wide open.

Happily it’s not just the airflow that is generous, as this thing can manage some pretty impressive cloud production.

I’d be quite happy comparing this to smaller stock coil sub-ohm tanks. Cloud production is good enough to fog out a room with a bit of chain vaping.

I did get some spit back at the beginning of using this coil, but that seemed to disappear on the second day, so I’m going to put it down to the coil breaking in.

Oxva Origin AIO – 0.3Ω Coil – Flavour

Great flavour from this coil. Although it can’t match the sort of separation of flavours you’ll get from much bigger coils or rebuildables, it’s really punchy.

Of the two stock coils, this one was definitely my favourite.

It’s rated 30W-40W, but if you’re keen to save your battery life I was happy with it all the way down to 25W.

30W seemed to be the sweet spot for me though, but if you like a warmer vape you can definitely bump it up to 40W with no loss of quality.

Oxva Origin AIO – 0.5Ω Coil – Airflow and Cloud Production

This coil gives you a slightly more restrictive draw, around a 7 on the 1-10 scale.

Still a direct to lung draw fully open, but if you close the airflow right down, you can also get a loose mouth to lung draw from it.

Cloud production is slightly less than the 0.3Ω, but not by much.

Oxva Origin AIO – 0.5Ω Coil – Flavour

Flavour to me is pretty indistinguishable from the 0.3Ω.

It doesn’t give you as warm a vape, but the flavour is ticking all the right boxes.

Although this can manage a lose MTL, I think it still performs at it’s best as a Direct Lung coil.

Oxva Origin AIO – 1.0Ω Coil – Airflow and Cloud Production

Obviously this is a much tighter draw than the previous two coils, and as the device sets your maximum wattage to 15W, you’re not going to be fogging out any rooms!

Even fully open this is quite a restrictive coil, on the 1-10 scale it’s about a 4.

Nice and smooth airflow though.

Oxva Origin AIO – 1.0Ω Coil – Flavour

Flavour is pretty good, but it’s not quite in the same league as the other two coils.

It’s decently punchy, and it’s pretty comparable to a lot of other stock coil MTL tanks, especially if they are tanks that are set up to do DTL as well.

It also seemed to take a longer to break in, it definitely wasn’t reaching it’s potential until it had had a full tank worth of e-liquid put through it.

Oxva Origin AIO – Battery

Battery life is always going to depend on a lot of different factors, wattage, frequency of vaping, the battery you’re using, all of these are going to play a big part.

I was able to get just under a day of moderate vaping from this at 30W, and I would say that lines up pretty favourably against other single battery systems I’ve tested.

Pros

  • Great Flavour
  • Comfortable and sleek
  • True AIO from DTL to MTL
  • Decent Rebuildable option

Cons

  • Impossible to adjust the airflow without removing the tank
  • Sleeve style drip tip rather than standard 510
  • micro USB rather than USB C

Final Review Verdict

Although three cons might look like a lot, they are all small niggling issues.

The main thing I’m looking for in a device like this is quality of the vape, and how easy it is to get on with.

It’s an extremely nicely put together piece of kit, and definitely the type of kit I would keep as a back up, or recommend to a new vaper.

Comfortable, great flavour, really small for a removable battery device.

All in all it’s checking a lot of boxes!

The fact that OXVA has used the same coils for both of their devices makes me hopeful that they’re going to make more.

All three coils that I’ve tried have been really good, and after a couple of weeks of using them, I haven’t had one die on me (although I’ve obviously been swapping between them).

So great flavour, super simple, with some intelligent design decisions that should help the new vaper.
