1. The Firefly 2 (Editors Choice)

firefly-2-in-hand

If you’re serious about vaping dry herb and concentrates then this is most definitely the vaporizer for you.

Not only does the Firefly 2 look fabulous – the designer is a former Apple guy – it vapes like an absolute dream thanks to its clever convection heating system.

The bowl looks small but trust me a little bit of coarsely ground herb goes a very long way and the oven heats in 3 seconds flat!

The vape experience of this is sensational and due no doubt to the ‘borosilicate glass vapor path’.

Now that sounds a bit ‘sci-fi’ but basically the vapour travels through glass keeping the taste crisp and not too hot – it’s bloody lovely truth be told.

Controls are simple with two touch sensors on the side.

By using the app you can hook this up and alter the settings on the fly choosing various baking temps etc.

It’s not cheap but you are paying for a device that is wonderfully designed feels great in the hand – can switch between herb and concentrates and vapes like a dream.

I honestly couldn’t fault it and can’t recommend it highly enough – the Firefly 2 is most definitely ‘the best vaporizer money can buy’.

Features

  • 2 x 7 x 7 inches – 5 x 17 x 17 cms
  • 140 grams
  • Herbs – waxes and concentrates
  • Internal 7.4v lithium-ion battery
  • 55 watt heater/oven
  • Firefly 2 app to change settings
  • 6 heat presets via Firefly 2 App [android and iOS]

2. Davinci IQ Vaporizer (Best Design & Quality)

davinci iq vaporizer review
The Davinci Q is a feature packed Vaporizer that can be fine tuned and controlled by an app on your phone.

The design is superb, like nothing else we’ve seen. Powered by a 18650 battery (which is replaceable) this device is still a portable and pocket friendly unit.

The flavour is incredible and the vapour production is also impressive. There isn’t much wrong with the Davinci Q, worth every penny and with it’s 10 year warranty it actually turns out to be very good value for money.. Highly recommended.

Features

  • Compact, Lightweight but sturdy
  • Superb build quality & design
  • Incredible flavour & Very good vapour production
  • Replaceable 18650 battery
  • 10 year warranty wow!
  • Bluetooth app
  • Firmware upgrade-able

3. Volcano Digit Vaporizer (Best Desktop Vaporizer)

volcano-digital

The Volcano Digit Vaporizer is most definitely not one you can pop into your pocket – this is more your desktop device!

It takes oils and dry herb with your filling inflating a balloon through a special valve.

Once the balloon is filled you can remove it from the device and enjoy inhaling directly from it – about as clean a vape as you can possibly get!

The Digit features a fully customized digital temperature LED display system with operating temps of between 104 and 446F.

This is a serious piece of kit and German engineering at its finest and the Volcano family of vaporizers are definitely for the really serious users 😉

Features

  • Large Digital LED Display
  • Advanced Air Temp Control System
  • Food Safe Aluminum Heating Block
  • High performance Heating Cartridge
  • Strong Diaphragm Pump
  • Advanced German Technology
  • Temperature between 266° & 446°F
  • Electromechanical Design
  • Automatic Shut-Off Feature
  • 3 Year Warranty

4. Pax 3 Vaporizer (Best Selling Vaporizer)

pax 3

The Pax series of vaporizers has been the benchmark for all other devices since they first arrived on the scene.

Now into the third edition the Pax 3 is another dual use vaporizer switching from dry herb to concentrates simply by switching out the insert.

This is yet another convection heating style and to avoid ‘hot-spots’ the chip includes an advanced control system which technically means you will get a much better vape.

Pax Labs has also incorporated what they’re calling ‘lip sensing technology’ which basically means it heats when it touches your lips but cools down when not in use between draws!

It also vibrates when your filling is baked – which could make you giggle I guess lol.

The Pax 3 can be paired up with an app meaning you can tailor your perfect settings and the 3500mAH battery means you will be getting plenty of sessions between charges.

I have only heard good things about the Pax series of dry herb vaporizers and this is indeed one serious users should take a look at.

Features

  • Herb and concentrates
  • Haptic feedback (vibrations indicate when vapor is ready
  • 15-second heat up (30 seconds faster than PAX 2)
  • 4 temperature settings
  • 3500 mAh battery (16% larger than PAX 2)
  • Double the oven power of PAX 2
  • Bluetooth enabled; compatible with PAX Vapor app
  • Dimensions: 98.5 (H) x 30.6 (W) x 21.4 (D) mm
  • 10-year warranty

5. Vapour2 Pro Series 3X (Best 3 in 1 Vaporizer)

vapour2 pro series 3x review
This is a little different to the other vaporizers on the list and is more for those that like the idea of having a device where you can vape both dry herb, wax, loose leaf tobacco and e-liquid.

It’s a very well built, highly portable vaporizer that has a number of advanced tech features such as motion activated battery indicator and magnetic cartridge and battery connections.

The performance is good with e-liquid but it is really the dry herb cartridge where it comes into it’s own providing a good bake to your herb with a lovely warm vape and a nice smooth throat hit.

The standard kit doesn’t come with the dry herb cartridge but even added as an extra the price is still very reasonable, this cartridge also includes all the tools you need for packing and cleaning.

A very easy device to use at a great price point for a dry herb vaporizer.

Features

  • Easy to use
  • Excellent build quality
  • Herbs – waxes and e-liquid
  • Portable

6. Black Mamba Vaporizer (Best Budget Vaporizer)

Black-Mamba vaporizer
Now this is a sweet little dry herb vaporizer for those of you not wanting to splash out too much hard earned cash.

This is a conduction style heater which basically means your filling sits directly on the heat source within the ceramic chamber – meaning a super-fast bake of 2 seconds!

You can expect the flavour to be crisp too as like the Firefly 2 the Black mamba features a glass vapour path and a glass mouthpiece which those in the know swear by.

This is indeed a funky looking piece of kit that judging by the customer reviews I’ve seen is well worth the reasonably low price.

Features

  • Size: 145*46*26.5mm
  • Heating Time: 20-30 seconds
  • Battery: 1600 mAh built-in battery
  • Working Time: 1 hour
  • Great value

7. G Pen Elite (Quick Baking Vaporizer)

g-pen-elite

Now this is a very cool vaporizer that’s bristling with new technology.

It’s got a very cool design that looks as if it will fit nicely in the hand and also features one of the largest ceramic baking chambers you’re likely to see in a portable vaporizer.

The heating comes from 360 degrees suggesting you’ll get an extremely even bake with temps between 200° – 428°F (93° – 220°C).

The designers say the G Pen Elite takes 30 seconds to fully heat up your fill and the LED display shows the heater in action as well as the battery life.

This is not a device I’ve used but once again and judging by the extremely positive customer comments – this is a solid vaporizer to say the least.

Features

  • Quick bake time
  • LED display
  • Temp range: 200° – 428°F
  • Large capacity

8. Vaporfi Orbit Dry Herb Vaporizer

orbit in hand

The orbit was the cheaper of the two Vapori products I reviewed and for me it was a much better vape.

This is a simple to use no frills device that heats quickly and so long as you haven’t packed to tightly you do get a good even bake.

You need to pack it then turn it on and wait until your herb reaches your perfect temperature with the Orbit operating between 360F and 420F – it takes a good 2 minutes to reach max temp.

I found the lower temperature left a muted taste whereas at the max it really kicked in giving a superb deep rich taste and a surprising amount of vapour.

I’m guessing the better flavour I was getting comes from the fact the bowl is right under the mouthpiece compared to the base of the larger more expensive VaporFi Atom – however the end result on both was the same – a nice mellow high!

This one can be vaped whilst charging with the internal 2200mAH battery you get a ton of use out of it before it needs to be re-charged.

This is a decent vaporizer that’s simple to use – well built – feels good in the hands and vapes very well indeed – decent price too.

Read: Vaporfi Orbit Review

Features

  • Battery Capacity: 2200 mAh
  • 135mm x 20mm
  • Heating chamber capacity: 1.7 ML
  • Colors: Select between Black or Red

9. Vaporfi Atom Dry Herb Vaporizer

vaporfi atom in hand

This was the first dry herb vaporizer I tried and whilst it gave a decent vape it certainly wasn’t the best of the three I’ve reviewed.

However that is probably down to the mouthpiece included in my review pack – I received the tighter curved one that really did give a restricted inhale.

So not only was I getting a natural high from the herb – the sheer amount of puffing I had to do to get a hit had my head spinning!

So if this one is on your shopping list – make sure you add a looser mouthpiece to your cart!

OK so this is Vaporfi’s flagship vaporizer and is slightly more expensive than the Orbit.

It’s powered by a very respectable 3000mAH battery – more power than you’ll ever need if I’m honest – but hey you’ll get plenty of sessions between re-charges.

This one is a bottom fill with quite a large bowl that on the higher temp of 464F bakes evenly and gives a decent flavour but not as good IMHO as the Orbit.

I have a feeling being so far away from the mouthpiece [the Atom is much longer] means the vapour loses a little once it reaches your lips.

A nifty little trick with this one is the motion sensing technology to check battery level.

You basically give it a shake to wake it up as after 30 seconds of no use it goes into sleep mode – handy if you’re feeling shall we say a little floaty!

Overall this is a decent vaporizer and I’m sure judging by customer reviews if you get the right mouthpiece it’s a great device so bare that in mind!

Features

  • Battery Capacity: 3000mAH
  • Motion Sensing Technology
  • Single-Click Activation
  • Streamlined Mode Navigation

What Are Vaporizers and How Do You Use Them?

Slowly but surely the use of dry herbs and concentrates is not only being accepted in the mainstream but cannabis is being legalized in many countries.

As more people enjoy the benefits both for recreation purposes and medicinally – it naturally follows the health risks of burning not heating should be met – and that’s where the vaporizers come in.

In simple terms they are similar to a vape device however instead of a tank you get a chamber which is in effect an oven.

Your fill is baked/heated at a set temperature and this releases the good stuff without the nasties you get from burning.

I know the vape world is split on whether these should even be allowed but hey I’m easy about it especially as cannabis and the like are legal in very many countries.

However, I do have to stress that in the UK for instance certain types of filling material is illegal – so bare that in mind!

What I will say is many people find vaping every day herbs such as mint can help with a variety of ailments and issues – so do bare that in mind too!

Other herbs that are legal and vapable include cat mint – lavender – lemon balm and many others – a quick search on the web will show you the apparent benefits of vaping common or garden herbs 😉

A Vaporizer for all Tastes and Budgets

As I said in the intro to this piece the use of weed/cannabis is fast becoming accepted and legalized around the world.

I have no doubt whatsoever that in a few years the UK will go down the legalization route in much the same way most states in the US has.

But here’s the disclaimer – IF the use of the sort of dry herb and concentrates we’re talking about is illegal in your country then we are definitely NOT advising you to buy one of these devices.

OK the prices of these types of vaporizers are relatively high compared to your typical vape device but the cost is coming down – slowly for sure – but definitely coming down.

Of the ones I’ve used the Firefly 2 and Davinci IQ stand out by an absolute mile but at a lower price the Black Mamba does look like an ideal starter kit along with the Vapour2 Pro Series 3X for its flexibility and performance.

So in much the same way as vaping devices there is something for all tastes – requirements and of course budget!

If you are considering what the best dry herb vaporizer is to buy then I hope we’ve helped you make a decision based on the few we’ve picked out as worthy of your hard earned cash!

Peace man and happy toking without the smoking!

It is a bit of a change in direction for me with this review – I have the Arizer Air SE Vaporizer in my hand!

arizer air SE main image

I am not the most experienced in using Vaporizers – I prefer my trusty Dynavap devices.

However I have had a play with vaporisers in the past and our lovely late Neil H sent me the DaVinci MIQRO vaporizer to play with. Sadly I only used it a few times and then due to building work at home, I bloody lost it!

arizer air se banner

So please bear with me – I may not get all the right settings – but this is also an insight into how easy this is to get to grips with. If I can work it out, then most people who can use a vape box mod should be able to.

If you would like to know more about dry herb vaporizers and how they work read our guide.

A little bit now about Arizer.

arizer logo

Their website does not elaborate on the story of the company but it says…

“At Arizer we focus on making our product better to serve our customers better. We don’t take the title of best dry herb vaporizer lightly, so we keep innovating and improving our products.”

Thank you so much to Joshua Seraj from Tools420 who sent this over to me for review. He was a pleasure to deal with, knowledgeable and very helpful

I will record my findings on the device in my possession. Your experiences may vary!

Time to play!

What To Expect From The Arizer Air SE …

This is an update to the previous Arizer Air and Arizer Air 2.

arizer air se diagram

Basically this is a device with a battery which heats up an oven bowl. The heat of the bowl then vaporises the dry herbs for inhalation. Inhaling the vapour is safer than inhaling burnt matter which contains more toxins. Plus it gives a purer flavour.

arizer air se herbal vapour

The main component is the Stainless Steel bowl which has a ceramic heating element beneath. This design has the benefit of not having to buy new coils or chambers. You simply keep the bowl nice and clean.

Press a button to start the heating cycle and the power LED will indicate when fully heated to the required temperature.

arizer air SE product image

There are 5 temperature levels to choose from which are displayed using a different coloured LED. Plus there is also a battery charge remaining display too.

arizer air se settings

Once heated you use the included mouthpiece to inhale the vapour. The oven will stay hot for 10 minutes so you can get multiple inhales from one heating session.

arizer air se materials

Providing the power is a removable 18650 battery – which is actually included in the kit! There is a Micro USB charging port, but you may prefer to remove the battery and charge it in an external charger.

arizer air se battery image

An audio alert (Beep) will sound when turning the device on and off. You can of course turn this off – thankfully – as the Dog was petrified of it!

This is not suitable for wet products / e-liquids / concentrates / dab etc – it is for dry herb only.

You can purchase many accessories and replacement parts. There are different mouthpieces and bubbler / water / flask adaptor options available too.

arizer air se bubbler

There are 2 colours to choose from: Blue Haze and Reefer White.

Arizer air se colours

This is a dry herb vaporizer for herbs. Many people swear by using ‘legal’ herbs such as Mint – Lavender and even Catnip for aromatherapy purposes. Google is your friend to see what benefits vaping on certain herbs may have 😉

None of us at EcigClick are suggesting you vape on anything that may be illegal in your country…

Let’s see if this device can sit with some of the best vaporizers for dry herb.

arizer air se features

Arizer Air SE Design and Build Quality

I received the Blue Haze version which is made from mainly slightly transparent plastic.arizer air se side view

The packaging is great with the main device sat in a foam protective compartment and a box holds all the accessories.

arizer air se packaging

Sadly I feel the instructions are not great. Yes they tell you about most of the device operation, but not simple things like how to add your material etc. Here are a few pages of the instructions as an example – but there are more details on the control panel on other pages.

arizer air se instructions

Main Device

At the top of the device is a metal area which houses the heating chamber. This has a finned design for cooling.

You will see a round cover with the “A” logo, this swings out of the way for installing the aroma tube assembly.arizer air se top view

The pivot of this cover is a bit deceptive, the area with the large lip sticking out is the pivot. You would think at first glance this large lip was where you lifted the cover – but it is not! Opposite this is a smaller lip where you can lift the cover slightly to swing it. It closes tightly when not in use.arizer air se chamber view

Below the cover is the oven assembly which sits in a chamber. This is quite easy to access for cleaning. Inside the entrance to the chamber is a thick O-ring which seals and secures the glass aroma tube in position.

Arizer Air SE chamber O-ring

Around the chamber are airflow inlet holes which direct the incoming air through the chamber into the aroma tube. If you want to restrict the airflow you could cover one of these.

arizer air se airflow
Arizer Air SE airflow inlets

On the base you will find the Micro USB port and the legal logos. There appears to be a serial number too.

arizer air se USB port

Control Panel

On the control panel you have the heating indicator light and the “on” on symsymbol light. I will describe in the Quick Start Section what the indicators mean.

arizer air se control panel

Below this is the rocker switch. This has up and down arrows etched in and the centre part of the switch is for turning on and off.

The switch is responsive and I have had no issues at all.

Battery Compartment

The battery compartment is accessed by sliding the cover off the rear.

arizer air se battery installed

An arrow indicates where to push to open and it will slide down the device body. The rails run all the way down to the base of the mod, so when replacing the cover you will need to align it at the bottom of the mod and slide it all the way up.arizer air se batt cover

The cover feels sturdy and requires a bit of a press on the arrowed area where the spring catch is for it to move.arizer air se cover battery

Inside the compartment is the battery sled. arizer air se battery polarity

Both terminals are marked on the circuit board behind the compartment and what appears to be an isolating material is applied to the circuit board.

The bottom terminal (negative) is spring loaded so this will help to keep the battery in contact at all times. Plus this ensures the battery is held in securely.

Aroma Tube

The kit includes a 70mm straight glass aroma tube.

arizer air se assembled

This is made of clear glass and also contains the compartment where you add your dry material. You then install the tube into the chamber on the mod.

arizer air se aroma tube installed

Sorry if there are some signs of use on my Aroma Tube, I gave it a quick wash – but didn’t spot the remaining bits until photographing & zooming in!

In this compartment the base has small holes for the vapour to travel through without allowing particles of the material to escape.

arizer air se aroma tube chamber

This is a great design as the majority of the material will stay in the glass tube rather than entering the oven section and being harder to clean.

The kit includes some metal screens but the Arizer website says the following on the topic…

“Note: Metal screens are included and available for your convenience but they make vapor harsh and diminish the flavors. The Air SE Glass Aroma Tubes have a built-in screen to keep vapor pure and flavorful so we recommend using whole or coarsely ground botanicals with no metal screen for smooth and Tasty vapor.”

arizer air se screens

So I basically didn’t use the screens at all.

This feels very delicate and I would be scared of breaking it, but you can buy replacements plus Curved, Tipped and Frosted Glass versions. There are also different lengths of tube available – the longer the tube the cooler the output will be.

arizer air se tube options
Arizer Air SE Tube Options: L-R: Standard Tube, Curved Tube, Tipped Tube and Frosted Tube

Also the kit includes a stopper to keep your material safe in the aroma tube when not in use plus a travel case for carrying the tube.

arizer air se aroma travel tube

If you want to use this for aromatherapy purposes, you can buy a glass dish adaptor which you add your aromatic herbs to, heat and just let the vapour fill the air!

Quick Start Guide

If you are new to electronic vaporizers this may all seem a bit daunting. Hang in there and I will guide you through getting it up and running.

There is a plastic isolator sticker which must be removed in order to power up the device. See the image below for its location.arizer air se isolator

A video from Arizer included below shows how to do this.

Make sure to charge the device first then do a heating cycle to remove any impurities from the bowl section (with bowl empty). Set it to the highest temperature setting.

The device will get hot so make sure to wait until components are cool before filling or performing any maintenance / cleaning.

If you are not sure what temperature setting to use you can either start at the lowest and work your way up or do a search for the herb of your choice and the optimum temperature setting.

Also I have included the “Quick Start Video” from the Arizer website.

Basic Operation

arizer air se display

Press and hold the centre of the adjustment button to turn the device on or off. This ensures the device cannot be accidentally switched on by just knocking the button.

Press any button and the device will heat up to the previously used temperature setting. This prevents the device accidentally heating up on its own as you have to press the button to trigger the heat cycle. If you want to adjust the temperature I cover that in the next section.

The on sym icon will flash Blue whilst heating and turn solid Blue when fully heated. If the icon is Red the device will not heat up and requires charging.

Whilst the icon is lit in Blue the bowl is at the correct temperature for vaping.

arizer air se white

When fully heated, you inhale through the glass aroma tube in a slow steady draw.

When the heating cycle is over (the bowl has cooled below the required temperature) the device will turn off and you will need to reheat.

To turn the audio alert on or off press the “up” button for 2 seconds. The audio alert will beep when the device is switched on or off.

Temperature Adjustment

arizer air se temperature displayWhen you first switch on the device the colour of the LED shows the battery charge remaining. I go into more detail on this in the next section.

Then the LED colour will indicate which temperature mode you are using.

Use the up and down button to select from 5 temperature options.

  • Blue = 180°C / 356°F
  • White = 190°C / 374°F
  • Green = 200°C / 392°F
  • Orange = 205°C / 401°F
  • Red = 210°C / 410°F

Battery Indicator

arizer air se battery iconThe upper LED will blink once in the corresponding colour when you power on the device.

  • Green = 100% charge remaining
  • White = 70%
  • Orange = 40%
  • Red = 10%

How To Install / Remove The Battery

To install / remove the battery you will need to open the rear cover.

Make sure you are clued up on battery safety and always check that the battery wrap has no damage, splits or bulges.

Eleaf iStick Pico Le battery safety card

  • Slide down the rear cover in the direction shown.arizer air se batt cover
  • If a battery is installed remove it by pushing the battery against the spring loaded bottom contact and lift out the top of the battery.arizer air se battery removal
  • To replace make sure the battery is in alignment with the correct terminals – Positive (+) is at the top and Negative (-) is at the bottom. The battery also has the terminals marked as below.arizer air se battery markings
  • Install the battery bottom end first. Press against the spring to push the positive end of the battery into position.
  • Replace the cover by sliding it on from the base of the device, the securing rails run all the way to the bottom of the mod.

How To Charge The Battery

For charging it is recommended to remove the battery and use a dedicated charger. However if you need a charge in a hurry you can use the supplied USB cable. The indicator light will change colour to display the charge progress. When fully charged the light will stay on in Green. arizer air se charging

It is worth noting that you cannot charge the battery using the USB port of an older computer / Laptop which only outputs 0.5A. You need to use a mains plug or port with at least a 1.3A output.

arizer air se charging rate

Sadly it does take a while to charge and I lost track of the time!

How To Fill & Use

Unfortunately the instructions do not really tell you much about filling, so I will tell you how I did it.

  • Remove the aroma tube (mouthpiece) from the device.
  • Turn it upside down.
  • You can put a screen in the base of the tube chamber, but to be honest this is already shielded for stray particles so I didn’t bother.
  • Add ground up material to the tube chamber, do not overfill. arizer air se tube filling
  • Tip the Arizer Air SE device upside down and slightly lift then slide across the chamber cover.arizer air se chamber view
  • Insert the tube into the device. If you have difficulty in inserting the aroma tube, Arizer suggest heating the oven first, then install the tube. arizer air se tube insertion
  • Switch on the Arizer and select temperature level.
  • If you want to stay at previous temperature level just press any button for the heating cycle to begin. Or use the up and down adjustment to scroll through the temperature modes. The “on” indicator light will flash whilst heating.
  • Once the correct temperature has been reached the “on” on sym indicator will stay lit up solidly.
  • Take some inhales from the mouthpiece. Try to hold in the vapour for as long as you can without hurting yourself obviously!
  • You can keep vaping until the device indicators turn off – 10 minutes after heating.
  • To continue, turn on the device and press any button to start the heating cycle again.

How Does the Arizer Air SE Perform?

arizer air SE in hand

I only used the lowest power level (Blue = 180°C / 356°F) as this is a similar temperature to the Dynavap which gives me a great experience with my particular dry herb.

The inhale is so very smooth and can be deceptive! You think nothing is happening until it comes to the exhale! Depending on the material and heat setting you will get some vapour. It was not thick vapour like with an e-cigarette, more like a trickle.

As there is no burning the flavour is purer, there isn’t excessive heat and this is unlikely to make you cough. I did not find it harsh at all, but I was on the lightweight lowest temperature setting!

I found it was around 40 seconds for mine to heat up to the lowest temperature but it then stayed at temperature for 10 minutes. During that time I could easily get 7 vapes, that was with big gaps inbetween!

You cannot adjust the session time of 10 minutes, which was a bit long for me, I wasn’t vaping on this constantly. But if there are a few of your sharing the device this is ideal.

After each session I checked the condition of my dry herbs and even after 3 sessions there was still plenty of life left in it. Give it a bit of a stir with the excellent pokey thing. This is extremely efficient in its use of the material, after all it doesn’t end up all turning to ash!

When the flavour drops or the material has taken on a dry or dark appearance it is time to clean out the aroma tube chamber.

I did find with very dry or small ground material there would sometimes be some of this coming up to the mouthpiece. This could be cured by adding a screen or not grinding the material too finely.

This area does get a bit stained after a while, so I used household Washing Up Liquid with one of those thin bottle brushes, plenty of hot water and job done! I left it to air dry before use.

arizer air se tube cleaning

Thankfully the design of the aroma tube chamber means that the material is mainly retained in there and does not enter the oven chamber. This prevents sticky residue which would contaminate the oven area. The glass is far easier to clean!

I really enjoyed using the Arizer Air SE, it was gentle and it was quite a surprise how much I effect it had as I felt like I had inhaled very little!

Battery Life

This will vary according to the temperature setting you choose.

But to give you an example my experience is below.

I have done 10 heat cycles (10 minutes each) to one charge, 1 was to maximum temperature (to sanitise the chamber) and the rest were to the lowest temperature. Which is way above the specified battery life – very impressive!

Pros

  • Very inexpensive compared to some vaporizer models
  • Plenty of accessories available and compatibility with previous Air and Solo models
  • Simple controls
  • Removable 18650 battery means you can swap to a charged battery when in use and if the battery fails you can simply replace it without having to discard the whole unit.
  • Heated bowl design means no replacing coils or elements
  • Excellent flavour and vapour
  • No harsh smoke
  • Stays at temperature for 10 minutes – ideal for multiple users
  • Automatically turns off when below temperature
  • Quick heat up – less than a minute for lowest setting
  • Very long USB cable (6ft) – so there should be little restriction as you can use this whilst charging (pass-through)
  • Easy to clean, the main maintenance will be cleaning the aroma tube which is easy with Washing Up Liquid and a small diameter bottle brush
  • Arizer say to expect 6 x 10 minute heat up sessions per battery charge. I got 10! Which was a nice surprise!

Cons

  • Instructions are not the best – I was still left with plenty of questions after reading them!
  • Micro USB charging instead of Type C = slow charging time. But it is recommended to use an external charger anyway for removable batteries.
  • Can only charge using a mains plug – a computer or laptop USB port is not powerful enough.
  • Limited temperature customisation and missing features you would find on more expensive devices.
  • Being mainly plastic construction, it may not look as classy as other vaporisers
  • Not that portable, it is a bit chunky and the glass tube would be vulnerable to damage. You do get a carrying travel tube to protect it when not in use though.
  • I would like a separate icon for battery charge status so this could stay lit at all times.
  • You cannot adjust the 10 minute session time, I would prefer to make this shorter when using on my own to conserve battery life.
  • If you use very dry or finely ground material it can enter the mouthpiece tube. Rectify this by using a coarser grind or using a screen.

Arizer Air SE Final Review Verdict

This is a lower price and not the most stylish vaporiser out there, but the performance was perfect for me. It really outperforms your expectations! I was expecting a “Budget” experience, whereas the performance betrayed that label!

The heat up was really quick and the output was extremely satisfying.

Sadly the instructions are a bit rubbish. Hopefully if you are thinking of purchasing you can see my guide in this review to help you get going. This did impact my “ease of use” score.

The fact that this has Micro USB charging which is a bit bloody slow did impact the “design” score. It could be improved with Type C charging. However you really should charge the battery in an external charger anyway. Purchasing a spare battery which you could charge separately and just swap would be a quicker way of keeping this in action. But you can use this whilst charging.

One other slight gripe – which comes under the “design” category is that there is no separate icon for the battery charge status. You will only briefly see this when you switch on and it is the same icon as the temperature. This could be confusing? Also it would be great to see the status as you are using it.

There are plenty of accessories available to customise the experience further and many are compatible with previous Arizer devices.

It is not particularly stealth like when in use, it is a bit of a chunker, plus with the glass tube on top is it long! Also I would worry about damaging the fragile glass tube. You do get a travel tube carrying case included in the kit plus covers to keep your material in place in the chamber.

Maintenance wise this is pretty simple! You don’t need to buy coils, heating elements, screens etc. The chamber on the mod never looked unclean – but the aroma tube did get a bit of staining. Simply wash and leave to air dry!

I have really enjoyed using this! Yes it is tricky to set up for the first time, but after that it is very simple. Plus the output is excellent 😉 !

In for review is the Dynavap M Plus vaporizer.

dynavap m plus main image

I have been very excited about this! The reason being – that I actually own and regularly use an older Dynavap model!

Mine is the Dynavap M 2020 – which I am including in some of the images in this review so you can see the differences between this and the upgraded M Plus.

dynavap m plus v 2020
Left = Dynavap M 2020, Right = Dynavap M Plus

Sorry for the state of my M 2020 – I have had to resort to using a standard cigarette lighter on it in the past so there is some soot accumulation.

I will explain a lot more as the review progresses!

dynavap logo

Dynavap were founded by George Breiwa and the first Dynavap vaporizer was released in 2015 – called the “VapCap”.

first dynavap

They state on their website…

“DynaVap proudly designs, engineers, and manufactures all of our vaporizers in-house using the highest quality materials available.”

I would like to thank Joshua Seraj from Tools420 who sent this over to me for review, he is an absolute star!

tools 420

I will record my findings on the device in my possession. Your experiences may vary!

Let’s get going then hey!

What To Expect From The Dynavap M Plus …

Introduction

The design has evolved from the original Dynavap M up to this model the M Plus in 2023.

dynavap m range

This is a dry herb vaporizer for herbs (not just the stuff that’s illegal here in the UK!) Many people swear by using ‘legal’ herbs such as Mint, Lavender and even Catnip for aromatherapy purposes. Have a search online to see what benefits vaping on certain herbs may have 😉

Myself nor anyone at EcigClick is suggesting you vape on anything that may be illegal in your country…

If you would like to know more about dry herb vaporizers and how they work read our guide.

dynavap promo pic

In case you are wondering what on earth this device is – well it is basically a type of pipe – but you do not burn any material. You actually just heat it to the right temperature for the herbs to release the vapour – the flame never touches the actual material, it just heats the surroundings. Therefore you are not inhaling toxic burnt matter and the taste and vapour is much purer.

Think of it as putting your food in a pan and heating it, rather than directly on top of a flame where it would burn.

Also this is far more efficient meaning you use less material yet still get the same effects.

Design

The main components are the stem, tip and the cap.

mplus components

However it can be dismantled further.

The main stem is made from Stainless Steel with an internal tube structure (condenser) and tip which can be removed for cleaning. The components are secured in position using O-rings.

Part of the stem is a mouthpiece which is tapered so it can be used with adaptors for adding to bubbler or bong style assemblies.

dynavap M Plus with adaptor

On the top face is the square airflow inlet – which you can cover to open or restrict the airflow as you please.

At the base of the tip is the chamber. You add your dry herbs into here and they sit on the CCD (Circumferential Compression Diffuser) mesh screen.

dynavap m plus ccd
Stainless Steel CCD screen

A serrated edge is provided around the chamber to help grind up the material as you replace the cap.

Then you install the cap to the tip of the device. Here you will then use a flame or induction heater to heat up the cap section. This will click when the correct temperature has been reached. It is a case of inhaling the vapour until the cap clicks again and it is time for reheating!

The click occurs at 350°F / 177°C but you can buy a cap for lower temperatures. Plus there are “Armoured Caps” available which take longer to heat but will retain the heat longer.

Here is an introduction video from Dynavap which covers the design aspects and updates.

Further Information

In fact there is a whole playlist of videos for you to watch which details the whole evolution of the “M” range. You can find it on the DynaVap channel on YouTube here.

Plus there are plenty of video tutorials on their channel too – check them out here.

There are many accessories you can purchase to customise the M Plus including the Dynacoil (to convert for concentrate use) and alternative mouthpieces.

Also you can buy all the spares you will need! Starting from replacement CCD screens (in Titanium or Stainless Steel), O-rings and Cleaning kits to all the main components of the device. So you could keep it going for years in theory – just replacing parts as required. Just like “Triggers Broom” or the “Ship of Theseus“.

Let’s see if this device can sit with some of the best vaporizers for dry herb.

Kit Includes

  • Dynavap M Plus

  • Heat indication markers for those who want a single hit and intense experience!
  • Larger capacity – it has a 15% larger chamber
  • Textured finish – to give enhanced grip and a more tactile feel.

Dynavap M Plus Design and Build Quality

The kit only contains the device itself and its components. There are no spares or instructions included. However as covered above in the “Further Information” section there are plenty of instructional videos to help get you started.

The packaging is extremely minimal – compare it with the packaging of the 2020 version. I do prefer the 2020 version. But it is what it is, it protects the device during transit and works in the way it should!

dynavap m 2020 v plus packaging
Left = Dynavap M 2020 packaging, Right = Dynavap M Plus packaging

This is a solid but very lightweight device and it fits in the hand nicely.

It is a similar size to a standard cigarette but is obviously a bit heavier!

Everything feels extremely well made and if it is anywhere near as good as my trusty M 2020 – you should have no quality issues at all.

Plus the fact there is so very little to go wrong – you will only be really performing standard maintenance such as cleaning!

As described above the main stem has a “Bark like” texture to aid with grip.

dynavap m plus design
Top = Dynavap M 2020, Bottom = Dynavap M Plus

There has been a modification to the mouthpiece to enable it to connect to other devices, but at a glance there is not much to notice.

dynavap M Plus mouthpiece
Left = Dynavap M Plus, Right = Dynavap M 2020

As you can see the airflow inlet has had a big redesign from the spooky eye inlets on the 2020 to the Square window on the Plus.

air inlet dynavap M Plus
Top = Dynavap M 2020, Bottom = Dynavap M Plus

Looking at the tip design, as you can see this no longer has the fins you see on the 2020 version, plus there are more serrations to help grind up the material.

dynavap m plus tip details
Left = Dynavap M 2020, Right = Dynavap M Plus

You will also notice the punched markings which denote the area to aim the heat for the strongest performance.

dynavap m plus tip markings

Inside the tip is the chamber. This has increased in size for the M Plus. Looking inside the chamber you can see the CCD screen.

dynavap m plus chamber
Left = Dynavap M 2020, Right = Dynavap M Plus

The weird protrusion on the rear of the device is actually a kind of pivot. It is worth noting the “M” machining marks around the pivot – very nice attention to detail!

dynavap m plus pivot

If you hold the Dynavap M Plus like a cigarette, that allows you to pivot and rock the device between your fingers to restrict the airflow inlet to suit your preference. Also it helps with holding it in the correct place to access the airflow.

dynavap m plus in fingers

Inside the cap is the serial number and the date of manufacture.

dynavap m plus cap markings
Top = Dynavap M 2020 cap markings, Bottom = Dynavap M Plus cap markings

The cap feels very thin and flimsy you can actually bend it with your fingers. However this is useful in two ways as – 1) it heats up quicker and 2) if the cap is loose on the tip you can slightly squeeze it to make it a tighter fit. When the cap is boiling hot, the last thing you want is it falling off and burning someone or something. So I would suggest you make sure the cap is not loose before heating.

I did try swapping the caps between both my devices and they were compatible with both.

The prong on the cap is actually a great functional bonus, you can use it as a scoop to clean out the spent material in the chamber.dynavap m plus cap scoop

Quick Start Guide

There is no user manual included in the kit – but you can view one online here from Tools420.

Basic Operation

Once you get the hang of it – this device is one of the simplest vaporizers you can buy!

How To Fill

  • Remove the cap.
  • Hold the stem with the chamber section pointing upwards.
  • Add the ground or small pieces of material into the chamber.
  • Replace the cap whilst rotating to help chop up any larger pieces.
  • Check the cap will not fall off. You do not want it falling when hot. If it is slightly loose – remove the cap and give it a gentle squeeze and it should be a tighter fit on the tip.

How To Heat

Use a Butane Torch style lighter or an induction heater.

You can use a regular cigarette lighter if you are stuck but it will take longer to heat and it will leave sooty deposits on the cap. I know as I have had to resort to this myself in the past!

Induction Heater Method

An induction heater works on the same principle as an induction hob. This uses the magnetic field created by the device cap and inductor which creates a current to create heat.

dynavap M Plus induction

With an induction heater you insert the cap end of the whole device into the heating port and remove when you hear the cap make a loud “snap” noise. This noise denotes that the required temperature has been reached.

Note: there is sometimes a quiet “click” noise prior to the louder “snap”. This is also the same when it is cooling down.

Using A Torch Lighter

If using a lighter, the area you heat is important.

DYNAVAP M PLUS HEATING ZONES
Dynavap M Plus heating zone guide

If you want a gentle hit, aim the flame towards the bottom end of the cap.

For a slightly stronger hit move the flame nearer the top of the cap towards the tip.

I have included a video of myself heating up the Dynavap M Plus below as a guide.

For those who want the strongest hit, there are dots marked on the tip of the device to give you an area which you should aim the heat at. This may result in the whole chamber contents being used up in one go – so is not the best setting for longevity of your material or newbies! I found this area to give a harsh output!

To put it simply – the rule I follow is the nearer you get to the main stem the hotter the material will get. If you aim towards the end of the cap it will be cooler.

Rotate as you are heating and a loud “snap” from the cap will indicate when the material is at the right temperature.

Note: there is sometimes a quiet “click” noise prior to the louder “snap”. This is also the same when it is cooling down.

Time To Vape

At this point you can inhale the vapour through the mouthpiece and cover the inlet port as much or little as you want to tailor the airflow.

Listen out for another “Snap” noise and this will indicate the device has dropped below the optimum temperature and it is time to heat it again.

Keep using until the flavour or vapour tails off and you can clean out the chamber and add new material.

How Does the Dynavap M Plus Perform?

Obviously the quality of flavour will depend on the material you are using.

I used my Honest dual flame torch lighter to heat up my Dynavap M Plus.

Torch lighter

I tried heating in all 3 different areas.

Using the lower temperature heating area I got the flavour of my herb but not much vapour and it was quite cool.

Moving the torch up to the area where the cap ends by the tip – this was perfect for me. Again not loads of vapour but the flavour was strong and I got a great throat hit. Also I could get a longer inhale on this setting.

Using the high temperature area denoted by the markings on the tip – was a bit too much for me! It basically used up all the contents of the chamber in one heat cycle and it was hot and made me cough! This setting is for the hardcore only! I am too much of a lightweight!

I found I got 2 good long inhales per heat up.

You may think you are not inhaling anything as it is very smooth. Sometimes this might catch you out as you take very long draws thinking it is not working, then suddenly cough up your bum hole. So I suggest just taking it easy to start with. You will feel and taste that it has been working when it comes to exhaling.

As for the airflow, I found instead of partially covering the hole when inhaling, I would open and close it rapidly. If I felt there was not much vapour I would open the airflow hole and if it was getting a bit strong I would close it.

Pros

  • The Dynavap devices are the simplest vaporizers you can buy
  • You are only inhaling vapour – not combusted material so it is less toxic
  • No coils or elements to keep buying and replacing.
  • Maintenance very low apart from cleaning.
  • Can be used anywhere and easy to carry
  • Minimal components so there is little to go wrong
  • Spare parts are easily available
  • No longer need to buy tobacco, rolling papers etc to consume dry herbs
  • Extremely sturdy
  • Quick heat up time – quicker than the M 2020
  • No electricity needed
  • You can purchase custom cases for use out and about
  • Adaptors and customisable extras are available
  • More efficient use of your dry herb material

Cons

  • No instructions included – but there are plenty of guides online.
  • A metal mouthpiece is not the nicest thing to put on your lips.
  • Slightly expensive – but still cheaper than a lot of electronic vaporizers

Dynavap M Plus Final Review Verdict

Yes these are pricey devices. However for those who want to enjoy dry herbs without the burning, tobacco or even having to roll up – this is a perfect solution.

I got my first Dynavap last year, as I had given up smoking and having to still buy and use tobacco for my dry herbs felt like I was defeating the object of quitting smoking! Not to mention the taste of tobacco was no longer something I enjoyed.

The Dynavap for me meant I could ditch tobacco completely, which also saved me a lot of money too!

There is a slight learning curve to operation which is not aided by a lack of instruction leaflet. There are plenty of videos and instructions online though. After a few attempts you will nail it and it will become second nature in no time.

Personally for me the price was worth every penny for my M 2020, and I would spend my own money for the M Plus too – they are such a clever idea.

The simplicity of the assembly means there is very little to go wrong and if there is an issue you can dismantle and buy all the spare parts easily.

It is not as delicate or clumsy as using bongs or glass style devices. Plus it is obviously way more portable.

Not to mention no longer inhaling burnt matter.

Buying and using the Dynavap M range has been nothing but positive for me. I still love my M 2020 but the M Plus has the edge with the quicker heat up time.

Let me know your thoughts on the Dynavap M Plus in the comments below!

The Aspire Proteus Neo is something different – it is a device for providing the experience of a Hookah but in an electronic way!

Aspire of course are a well-respected vape company with ranges that have been popular for years such as the Nautilus, Zelos and PockeX.

What To Expect From The Aspire Proteus Neo…

As mentioned above this is a lot different from your standard vaping kit.

proteus neo components

This is an E-hookah device which is designed to fit above a hookah bowl / vase with hookah hose or (hoses) to provide the heating system for the liquid.

proteus neo in use

A standard Hookah basically burns Shisha (flavoured tobacco) and the resulting smoke passes through the water bowl to cool it before it exits through the hose into the human using it.

Basically this is an alternative way to enjoy Shisha but instead of burning you are vaporising Shisha in a liquid form or standard vape e-liquid.proteus neo diagram

So with that in mind you fill the Proteus Neo head with up to 25ml of Shisha liquid / e-liquid. This is not compatible with dry tobacco, Shisha or herbs. The instructions say you can use e-liquid with a 70%VG ratio.

proteus neo filling

Then you set up the water container and install the appropriate Silicone adaptor to the hookah head base. The adaptor needs an airtight fit in the water container.

proteus neo set up

There is a built in 5700mAh battery which you can charge using a USB Type C cable at a quick 2A charge rate.

proteus neo battery

Once set up the device will activate when someone inhales on the hookah hose and it will provide vapour to pass through the water to cool it.

proteus neo draw activation

Inside the device is a 0.17ohm Proteus Neo mesh coil and this is replaceable.

proteus neo coil

Plus you can also adjust the airflow to suit the preference of the user.

proteus neo airflow

An LED indicator informs of the battery charge remaining and any fault conditions. There are also plenty of protections to help prevent short circuits, overheating etc.

I have to admit to knowing little about how Hookahs and E-hookahs work (I do understand a Bong though!) In theory vaporised liquid in an E-hookah should be less harmful than inhaling the smoke from dry products which are combusted in a standard Hookah.

Let me know if the Aspire Proteus Neo E-hookah is a device you fancy having a play with!

The DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer review, and as the name suggests, this is the micro version of the top of the range DaVinci IQ vaporizers.

This company really does produce, some might say, the Rolls Royce of vaporizers with the DaVinci IQ 1 and 2 being the vaporizer of choice for many of us out there.

DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer in hand

I say us, I’ve been fortunate to review both, and the DaVinci IQ 2 vaporizer blew me away, pushing away the awesome Firefly 2 as my first choice on a session 🙂

So let’s see if micro, or in this case MIQRO, means smaller in performance and not just size.

What Can We Expect From the DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer?

Just like the larger vaporizers in the range, you can alter you temperature settings at the press of a switch.

The oven pearl features too, not only does it help tamp down your herb, it can also be adjusted to lessen the capacity.

DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer kit

There’s no airflow control as such, however swapping out the mouthpieces can significantly change the draw.

Sadly this isn’t a dual device – as in use with herbs and wax – but that’s not really an issue.

Obviously being a micro version, there’s a smaller external battery and in this case it’s a 900mAH 18350 – given this is a vaporizer and not an e-liquid vape device, that’s certainly enough power for purpose.

OK, this was sent to me direct from DaVinci – thank you so much – and as always, my thoughts and opinions are NOT swayed by freebies.

For the record I used CBD Flower and not Marijuana for review purposes…

Vaporizers can be used with all kinds of herbs from Catnip to Mint and a quick Google will show you the benefits users say they get from legal herbs.

To go into stealth mode [lights off] simply hold the fire and down buttons – fire button and up to go back.

To switch from F to C hold down all three buttons.

All those modes seem a lot to take in – honestly it just looks complicated when written down!

A few minutes with the DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer and you’ll soon get the hang of it all 🙂

Design and Build Quality

I’ve been fortunate to review all of the DaVinci vaporizers and as always the build design is very good indeed.

Though saying that, I still have a slight issue with the battery door latch.

battery door latch

I mentioned it on the DaVinci 2 and the same issue is on the Davinci MIQRO Vaporizer – it feels a little flimsy and can be a pain to get it to bite shut.

I have a feeling the adjustable oven pearl may be another weak point.

It’s screwed onto a rubbery post and again feels a little flimsy…

adjustable oven pearl

Other than those two niggles, everything else is smooth and very well made.

The Same But Smaller !

Design wise it’s an exact micro version of the larger ones.

It has a bit of weight to it – and size wise it fits snugly in the hand and of course is very pocket and bag friendly.

DaVinci MIQRO vaporizer review colours

I did at first think the instructions sticker on the back was part of the design – it isn’t and can be removed lol…I get worse ha!

The DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer has the same ceramic air path and coupled with the zirconium air flow system, I’m expecting the same level of flavour and clouds as the larger versions…we shall of course see.

The LED lights on the front are clear and bright and you can easily read the temp mode you’re in – as you can see above you can turn those off to go stealthy.

led lights

A nice touch is that after a ‘session’ the LED lights can form a ‘secret message’ letting you know if you’ve won a prize…I haven’t!

USB Cover…

Oh dear – this is a real pain in the a**!

To get to the USB port you have to remove a little logo embossed silicone plug.

It’s NOT attached to the device and will/does seem to have a mind of its own.

usb cap

I’ve lost count the amount of times it’s sailed off into the distance – so be careful!

Obviously losing it doesn’t affect performance – it just looks better with it in!

How Does the DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer Perform?

For such a small device you can pack quite a bit of product into the DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer oven…quite impressive really.

As mentioned you can adjust the ‘oven pearl’ and that will cut down on the amount – it also tamps everything down nicely.

DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer Review oven

If I’m honest I wasn’t expecting the flavour to match that of the larger vaporizers, however I was pleasantly surprised.

Mid Temp Perfect For Me

Using my go to CBD Flower, whilst the flavour at the highest temperature setting was slightly – and I mean slightly – less than I’m used to, it was very good indeed.

It just lacked a little bit of depth, no big thing in the scheme of things.

Speaking of temperature, I found the lowest setting was decent, mid range at 410F was near perfect, whilst the highest setting did feel a tad too warm for me.

You can of course alter the temp by using the up and down buttons [see above].

DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer Mouthpieces

On the larger versions I’m happier with the extended mouthpiece.

I find that a lot looser than the flat one.

DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer Review flat mouthpiece

On a scale of 1:10 with 10 being tight, the flat one is around an 8 to 8.5…as in tight!

On the same scale but airy, I find the longer one about a 7 to 7.5 – a nice restricted lung vape so to speak.

It’s a pity there’s no actual airflow control, I’m sure that’s something down the road on future large and mini versions.

DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer Battery Life

Given one this is a vaporizer not a vape, a 900mAH battery ain’t that much of an issue.

It charges anywhere from between an hour to 90 minutes.

And given you don’t use a vaporizer as much as you would a vape – unless you’re a real hardcore stoner – fully charged you can get about 45 minutes to an hour’s session.

Remember this is a micro vaproizer – for longer party sessions go with a larger device…me being Captain Obvious again…but you get my drift…

Pros

  • Good flavour and clouds
  • Temperature options
  • Choice of mouthpiece
  • Generous oven – can change capacity
  • Simple elegant design
  • Decent battery life
  • Great price!
  • FIVE year warranty!

Cons

  • Battery door latch could become an issue
  • USB cover port far too fiddly
  • Adjustable oven pearl a little flimsy

Final Review Verdict

I really like the DaVinci MIQRO Vaporizer, despite a couple of minor irritations.

It’s ideal for on the go herbal vaping and especially for those that don’t need to vape on a bucketful of herbs lol.

size comparison
size comparison

On my first vape I did have a bit of a struggle getting a good deep lungful, however fiddling with the packing, temp and mouthpiece made things much better.

Not a big learning curve, but like most things, trial and error is the way to go.

For its size it certainly delivers a powerful hit once you get your settings right, and fully packed I was able to vape in Boost Mode for a good 10-15 minutes with obvious breaks in between.

If this is your first vaporizer you really will be pleased with the flavour and clouds and at a decent entry price point I certainly recommend it.

So is this a vaporizer you’re using or thinking of buying?

The niiceOne herbal vaporizer review and this is a dual purpose device that features touchscreen controls and despite that comes in at a very reasonable price.

I was only chatting the other day about how expensive some herbal vaporizers can be, so I’m intrigued to see how this sub £100 kit performs.

niiceone herbal vaporizer in hand

niice Tech is a UK company based in London with a team made up of technology, healthcare and importantly vaping experts – so these guys and girls really should know their stuff.

The company is committed to developing new products with a focus on state of the art hi-tech but keeping the overall price to the consumer as low as possible.

Incidentally, the niiceOne herbal vaporizer is their first release.

I’ve reviewed quite a few of what you’d call high end vaporizers, so will be very interested to see if this UK designed device can hold its own whilst remaining at a very competitive price point.

What Can We Expect From the niiceOne Herbal Vaporizer?

The niiceOne herbal vaporizer can be used for either plant or concentrate and using the same oven.

The kit comes with a choice of mouthpieces – a raised one and a flat – more on those later.

concentrates vaporizer oven
for concentrates

The device has touchscreen operation which is a first for me – and is definitely one of the first vaporizers to go down that route.

OK, let’s see how this one vapes.

For the record this one sent direct from niiceOne – thank you – and as always my thoughts and opinions are not swayed by freebies…

Inside the Box

niiceone herbal vaporizer box

  • 1 x NiiceOne vaporizer
  • 2 x mouthpiece (one flat, one raised)
  • 1 x mouthpiece for concentrates
  • 1 x micro USB cable
  • 1 x cleaning knife
  • 5 x pipe cleaner
  • 1 x cleaning brush
  • 1 x user manual

Key Features

As I’ve already mentioned, the niiceOne herbal vaporizer is made for dual use – that’s concentrates and plant.

It’s a single but dual oven, so there’s not need to swap it out if switching between herb or concentrate, but there is a choice of mouthpieces – more on those in a mo’.

dual oven vaporizer
single oven – dual use

It’s got a bit of oomph behind it too with a rather large 2680mAh internal Li-Ion battery that can bake your material in about a minute.

As for temperature, this is where the niiceOne herbal vaporizer stands out as it has 100 different temperature options between 175°C – 235°C [345F – 455F].

That might sound like overkill, but all it really means is you can adjust the temperature in 1 degree increments.

Design and Build Quality

The niiceOne herbal vaporizer is made from quality materials and despite the ‘entry level price‘, looks and feels good in the hand.

Put it this way, and compared to some of the more expensive vaporizers I’ve used, this one holds its own for sure, both in looks and much of the build quality.

niiceOne vaporizer reviewed
only available in black

The outer-shell feels like aluminum alloy giving it a nice weight, and that matte brushed effect gives it look more expensive look than the price suggests.

The oven chamber is made from stainless steel and ceramic and can take up to 0.5g of product – enough for one and maybe for 2 😉

Design wise and it’s very reminiscent of the PAX3 if a little wider.

Airflow Control Comes From the Different Mouthpieces

As for the two mouthpieces, one is flat whilst the other is slightly raised like a duckbill style you find on some popular pod mods.

Given there’s no airflow control, this is the only way you can swap out the tightness or looseness of the draw.

This vaporizer is operated via the touchscreen and I’ll take a look at how that performs in a wee while.

OK, let’s give this one a toot or two to see if the flavour and vapour is on par with vaporizers that are twice the price.

But first let’s see how you get the niiceOne herbal vaporizer baking and ready to vape.

niiceOne Herbal Vaporizer Quick Start Guide

  • Click button on the top right hand side x3 for on and off
  • Device vibrates and screen says Hello
  • Set vaping mode by holding middle of the screen for one second
  • Screen shows mode options: Dry Herb or Extract – select by pressing on the screen
  • Swipe down on the screen and this lets you swap between C and F or turning the vibrate effect on/off
  • Use up and down buttons to select your perfect temperature setting
  • Once selected hold fire button x3 seconds and the oven will begin heating up
  • There’s a digital count ‘up‘ to show progress
  • Whilst warming up the lights will show orange and turn to blue and vibrate once ready
  • Vape!

Incidentally, there’s no user guide in the box – you can view it HERE.

Note: there is a tool bag with the kit containing all you’ll need to clean the niiceOne herbal vaporizer: pipe cleaners, concentrates knife and brush.

niiceone herbal vaporizer toolkit

It is very important you keep on top of cleaning the chamber – a clean oven is important to maintain the flavour and performance.

How Does the niiceOne Herbal Vaporizer Perform?

Unfortunately I still haven’t got my hands on any concentrate – CBD or any other

So I’m only going to be able to try this one out using CBD flower and a variety I know very well indeed.

mode settings

I found there’s plenty of room to pack in your product – I say pack in, don’t force it down, just kid of ‘tamp‘ so it can can breathe.

There were no problems with baking and after about 50 seconds the blue lights came on with no issues at all.

led lights
blue lights ready to vape!

Very smooth to operate indeed – impressive.

niiceOne Herbal Vaporizer Raised Mouthpiece

OK, I set the temp at 420F – my favourite setting on all vaporizers lol – the first vape and there was the slightest back taste of burned new something

Kind of like the smell you get from a new heater/radiator kind of thing – maybe heat it up empty before using for the first time? Don’t quote me on that – just thinking out loud!

niiceone herbal vaporizer raised mouthpiece

It soon passed – a couple of seconds – but memo to me, clean the chamber with an alcohol wipe first time you use it!

OK this is quite a warm vape – almost but not quite, too hot for the first few puffs. Not unpleasant by any means, just felt a lot hotter than other vaporizers I’ve used at this temperature.

It took me a couple of draws to actually get what I would class as a mouthful of vapour, but once I got it going, things perked up a lot.

And you really do get a decent amount of rich vapour in your mouth – I actually coughed until I got used it – this really does kick it out!

On the exhale there was indeed a cloud – more like an MTL vape tank than sub-ohm, but very respectable indeed.

Flavour wise, once I got past that ‘newness‘ taste, it was very good.

As for the draw, it’s really quite loose – think restrictive lung hit, and bang on my preferred regular vaping style – no need to huff and puff put it that way.

Whilst not quite matching the likes of the Pax 3 or indeed the Firefly 2, for the price this was pretty tasty…

niiceOne Herbal Vaporizer Flat Mouthpiece

I gave the chamber a good clean out this time lol.

I packed the same CBD flower in exactly the same way, but this time set the temp to 350F as 420F was a little on the hotter than warm side for me, plus I wanted to try it at a lower temp.

flat

As expected the vapour was cooler, and to be honest I really enjoyed the flavour off this setting.

There really wasn’t a lot of difference flavour wise and given this is a more restricted airflow, if anything the taste jumped up a couple of notches.

It’s definitely tight and with 10 being wide open this is a 5 to 6, but you don’t have too work too hard if that makes sense.

Of the two mouthpieces and despite preferring an airy vape, this mouthpiece at that temp was my go to sweet spot.

Good vape indeed!

Pros

  • Dead simple to use
  • Touchscreen works OKish
  • Vast amount of temperature options
  • Dual use out of the box
  • Choice of mouthpieces
  • Good flavour
  • Great clouds
  • Even bake – if packed correctly!
  • BIG battery!
  • VERY reasonable price

Cons

  • Funny taste first time used – clean the oven!!!
  • Touchscreen can be hit and miss – may be my stupid fingers!
  • Only airflow control is the choice of mouthpieces

Final Review Verdict

Herbal vaporizers come in all shapes and prices with some of the most well known being actual wallet busters.

Sure, the Pax3 and the Firefly 2 are superb devices, but man are they expensive.

temp control

I’ve reviewed a few of the entry priced vaporizers and not all have been up to scratch.

For a ‘budget priced‘ vaporizer, this one definitely is up to scratch in a big way.

I’ve seen the niiceOne herbal vaporizer on sale for under £70 and in most places it’s sub £100 by a long way – a bargain for what you’re getting.

The beauty of this one is you don’t need to splash out for a separate oven – it does both out of the box – and there’s some premium touches too.

Very Easy To Operate

I love the simplicity – especially the touchscreen that has no issues once you get used to it.

Yes, it does take a bit of getting used to but like many touchscreen devices, you need to be precise or it will jump to the option above or below – no biggie in the scheme of things.

switch
on off bake switch

Most important is the overall vape experience, from packing to baking to vaping.

The niiceOne herbal vaporizer is a real pleasure to use and the flavour is certainly on the better side of good – good amount of vapour too.

It sounds daft, but on higher settings the vape is close to being hot.

I have a feeling that’s due to the airway design – it might be a little on the short side, obviously meaning there’s no chance for the vapour to cool down…

Great Value Vaporizer

That aside, you can get this one for less than half the price of one of the big boys and in truth there’s a cigarette paper sized gap between the performance.

So yeah, I like it and if this is more your budget, I have no hesitation in recommending it highly.

Put it this way, I was going to give this to my dear old friend ‘Hippy John‘ – 75 and still going strong – must be what he ‘smokes‘ lol.

I’m meeting him on a park bench on Easter Sunday for a few beers – open air public beer dates are a thing nowadays – however I won’t be handing this one over:)

This one is staying right here – sorry dude lol.

Soooo…

Are you using the niiceOne herbal vaporizer?

Considering buying it?

The FURNA vaporizer review, and this is a dual oven device that offers a couple of nifty features, so does that mean it will get a high review score?

We shall of course be taking a look at how this rather pricey device performs in this vaporizer review.

furna vaporizer review in hand

Vaporizers are now all the rage and can be used to vape on herbs and with the right equipment, concentrates as well.

Obviously the majority of users will be adding cannabis, however if that isn’t legal in your country yet, CBD flower and concentrates as well as many legal herbs can also be vaped.

These include: catnip – spearmint – basil – chamomile and very many more.

Google is your friend as to how each plant can help when vaped.

BTW medicinal cannabis is legal to use here in the UK but under strict conditions – find out more from the UK Government.

I’ve been fortunate to review a number of vaporizers from the extremely expensive to the more wallet friendly.

It’s fair to say the FURNA vaporizer is priced at the higher end so let’s see if it deserves its top spot in the market.

What Can We Expect From the FURNA Vaporizer?

This is a dual oven herb and concentrates vaporizer, though for using the latter you’ll need to buy the kit separately.

It has a 3500mAH internal battery – not USBc fast charging – and FURNA reckons you can get about 20 sessions per charge.

I’ve had this for about a month and used it a couple of times per week, and reckon that’s about 15 to 20 sessions and the battery is still going strong.

The dual oven means you can pack two and customize them both with coloured nibs and indeed different symbols on the main screen – nice touch.

The oven is conduction rather than convection – more on that in a moment – and the kit comes with all you need to vape on herbs – except a grinder.

I’ve reviewed a number of vaporizers, from the very pricey to the budget and mid range.

The FURNA vaporizer given the price, is aimed at the higher end of the market and of course we shall in this review if it deserves its lofty price tag.

OK on with the review, and this was sent to me free of charge direct from the company – thank you – and as always freebies in no way impact on my thoughts and opinions.

FURNA Vaporizer Specs and Features

  • 15 – 20 sessions per charge
  • Temp range: 320 – 420 F (160 – 215 C)

  • Conduction heating
  • Isolated air path
  • Swappable ovens
  • 2 year warranty

Design and Build Quality

The outer shell of the FURNER vaporizer appears to be zinc alloy that has a bit of a slippery feel about it, whilst the rest of the plentiful ‘bits and bobs‘ are made from a mix of plastic and silicone.

push open pod
push up to pop out the oven

It’s a heavy piece of kit in the hand – down to the internal battery I guess – and that is a decent sized one too at 3500 mAH. That’s plenty of power for using a vaporizer and FURNA say you can get up to 20 sessions out of one charge.

It’s is nicely put together and all the moving parts move well enough, though the twisting off and on of the mouthpieces can be a little crunchy at first but soon wears in.

The slide to remove the oven is a nice touch and is a very smooth action indeed, push up to pop the pod out and down to click it into place, however, the slider does rattle a wee bit.

That rattle could also be the fire/select button that sits on the slider, it does have a nice throw to it with a resounding click when pressed.

slider

The button on the base, used to enter the menu, is a little stiffer but hey it does the job.

As far as the design itself goes, it looks a lot like the Vaporfi Atom vaporizer, to be honest most handheld vaporizers out there do all look a little samey, except maybe the sexy looking Lookah Ice Cream.

It’s certainly a big bugger and apart from the rather large FURNA logo, the only other design feature is the coloured tips. In my box there’s a couple of sky blue – a black and a purple…handy for remembering what material you have inside each one. And remember the dual oven means you can carry another or have it ready for a larger session.

It only appears to be available in Black right now, which is a pity, but hey – you can’t go wrong with black, and it is the new whatever 😉

So…nothing to get excited about design wise – as in looks – build wise it’s pretty solid, so let’s see how this one performs.

But first…

FURNA Vaporizer Quick Start Guide

  • x5 clicks of the fire button [labeled B1 on the user guide] on and off
  • Press button on base [B2] to enter menu
  • Use B2 to scroll through the options – Temperature – Screen – Symbol – Units – Language – About and Exit
  • Scroll using B1 to select option press B2

It’s all very intuitive and once you’ve had a couple of goes it all becomes second nature…honest!

screen1

A quick word about each option:

  • Temperature: select and use B1 to scroll in 5 degree increments
  • Screen: brightens or dims the read out
  • Symbol: Customize each oven – chip recognizes it – ideal for different flavours
  • Units: switch from Centigrade to Fahrenheit
  • Language: choose!
  • About: shows current model
  • Exit – obvious!

How Does the FURNA Vaporizer Perform?

For this vaporizer review, I was only able to use one oven as I only had one flavour – blame the covids…and the pubs shutting…

I used the perfectly legal CBD Flower – the Artisan CBD Frosted Kush – I received a very large jar of that lovely stuff for the Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer review, and I know the flavour very well indeed.

furna vaporizer oven

As I always say, ground the material down to about the size you’ll see herbs in supermarket jars.

The FURNA vaporizer comes with a number of accessories in the box – not a grinder though – including a rather nifty funnel. This is a bloody brilliant addition that obviously channels the herb or in my case CBD flower – into the oven without any mess…simple but genius 😉

herb funnel

It’s quite a deep oven, and FURNA says you ideally need to pack in about 0.23grams – pack down using the included tool [or of course your own] but not too tightly as it needs air.

Set you preferred temperature – I went for 420F – I could list all the temps and how they fared, but given the choice is between 320 – 420 F (160 – 215 C) and in 5 degree increments, I’d be here all day.

Suffice it to say, start low and increase until you find your sweet spot…I like mine warm…

I did try at the lower end of the scale, but it was a coldish vape with a muted flavour for my tired old taste buds.

How’s the Flavour Off the FURNA Vaporizer?

As I said, on the lower settings it wasn’t much to write home about.

Bumped up to 420F and things perked up a lot.

store pod

I was getting deep rich botanicals off the flower and on the exhale a hint of that sweet frosting…just a hint but enough.

Vapour wise it was OK, though we’re not looking to be chucking clouds with a vaporizer.

Though if I’m brutally honest, I was getting less vapour than many vaporizers I’ve used and only the slightest throat tickle – though this particular CBD flower is very smooth.

There’s no airflow control on the Furna vaporizer, something I reckon a lot of us like, and the draw is pretty loose, on a scale of 1:10 with 10 being extremely airy, this is high 8’s mid 9’s.

Even Baking?

To get a perfect bake you really need to work on your packing style.

After a couple of goes I got it right and also gave it a bit of a stir between puffs.

It’s a conduction oven rather than convection – I’ve explained this before:

The vast majority on the market are conduction that is to say the material is heated/baked directly on a hot surface – whilst convection has hot air passing through the material.

This is why with conduction stye vaporizers, it’s extremely important you nail your packing or else things can toast a little too much on the outside leaving the inside if you like a little raw.

Here’s an excellent video from FURNA on how to do just that:

As you can see from the video, the FURNA vaporizer and its dual ovens means you can pack and go 😉

Yes the FURNA vaporizer is dual use – as in herb and concentrates – however you’ll need to buy the concentrates oven separately – bit of a shame.

Cleaning the FURNA Vaporizer

Keeping your vaporizer clean is key to keeping the performance and flavour at it’s best.

Here’s a handy video guide to show how to keep your FURNA vaporizer in tip top condition.

Pros

  • Dual ovens
  • Large temperature range
  • Customizable as in coloured nibs and oven symbols
  • Included funnel is great idea for messy buggers!
  • All the tools you need [except a grinder]
  • Heats up quickly with even bake if packed right
  • Good flavour
  • OKish vapour if that’s your thing
  • Herbs and concentrates [see below]
  • Intuitive menu – plenty of options
  • Clear and adjustable screen
  • Great battery life

Cons

  • Main body is a little slippery
  • Rattle from the fire button or slider
  • Concentrate oven sold separately [subjective]
  • Lack of airflow control
  • A little pricey

Final Review Verdict

A budget vaporizer this is not, and at the price it’s just about premium quality.

It feels OK in the hand, but I’m not getting that total premium quality overall feel.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s put together very well indeed with good material, it just doesn’t feel substantial, despite its weight.

That rattle has become more apparent the more I’ve used the FURNA vaporizer and you don’t need to shake it too much to hear it…might just be mine.

I love the option of dual ovens and it might have been nice to have the concentrate adaptor included, that may be me just being greedy…but it is a pricey kit.

The symbols and nibs to identify the ovens is a great touch, as is the ability to flip the oven for storage so no pocket crap gets into the mouthpiece.

Speaking of which, the mouthpiece is very comfortable, however the lack of airflow control means this is a rather airy vape.

Would I Highly Recommend the FURNA Vaporizer?

Flavour wise and yeah it’s good there’s no denying that, and the vape is smooth – again could be down to my CBD flower and your chosen material may be different.

So would I recommend the FURNA vaporizer?

It’s a tough call if I’m honest.

Yes I know vaporizers are in general pricey, but performance and flavour wise this one just and I mean just about justifies the lofty price tag.

Obviously FURNA is aiming high in the vaporizer market – price wise that is – and if the addition of the dual oven and symbols idea takes your fancy, then go for it.

As to if money was no object I’d buy after using it…

It’s a maybe from me – me on the fence again?

Naw…

If you’re using the FURNA vaporizer do let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below 🙂

Let’s take a look and review the new Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer which as the name suggests is made for vaping on dry herbs.

Yup – that includes cannabis flower and leaf – however as that is illegal here in the UK for recreational use – for this review I’ll be using legal CBD Flower…

Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer Review in hand

Lookah has been around for a very long time – est 2009 – and in particular specialize in stunning glass bongs and water pipes, some of which are absolute works of art.

Based in Los Angeles, they stock a wide range of products and to be honest I could spend a bloody fortune there lol.

The Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer is the first the company has brought out – so it will be interesting to see if their vast knowledge has created a most excellent device…

What To Expect From the Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer

Straight out of the box and this looks like one of the easiest to operate dry herb vaporizers I’ve ever used – and I’ve used many.

The clue is in the name when it comes to the design – as you can see it really does resemble an ice cream cone.

lookah dry herb vaporizer reviewed

There’s x4 temperature settings which I shall be testing and the ceramic oven has a stopper that can reduce the fill.

A reminder that vaporizers can be used with all kinds of herbs such as spearmint and even catnip and in the future I will add a guide as to what each offers the user.

OK, let’s take a look at this smart looking entry priced dry herb vaporizer.

For the record this was sent to me free of charge for the purpose of this review direct from Lookah – thank you – and as always freebies in no way affect the thoughts or opinions of this old stoner…really dude…really 😉

Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer – Temperature Settings

Once the device is turned on using x5 clicks – you scroll through the temperature settings with a single press of the fire button.

The Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer vibrates when the temperature is reached and ready to vape.

  • Level 1:Green – 392°F ( GETTING STARTED: Low temperature with less vapor, plenty of terpenes and rich flavor, suitable for first hits on the fresh chamber of flower and flavor chasers)
  • Level 2: Blue – 410°F (LIGHTLY TOASTED: Good and smooth taste, slightly hotter vapor with a good level of release)
  • Level 3: Purple – 428°F (HALF BAKED: Smooth and more robust vapor, slight flavor loss, suitable towards the end of a session)
  • Level 4: White – 446°F (FULLY BAKED: Maximum vapor production, but high terpenes and flavor depletion, suitable for experienced users)

Incidentally you have 240 seconds to vape on your filling before the device cuts off and you’ll need to reheat.

Design and Build Quality

It really is a very smart looking piece of kit that really does resemble an ice cream – nice choice of colours too.

The fire button is very clicky indeed and the cleaning tool slots into the base.

cleaning tool

The top/mouthpiece is held on by strong magnets and the capacity of the oven can be altered by removing the silicone stopper which also can alter the airflow albeit slightly.

oven stopper

It does feel a little plasticcy for want of a better word, however certainly NOT cheap and feels like it will take a few knocks.

The oven features a nano ceramic heating element – which in my experience really does offer a cleaner tastier vape.

Lookah-Ice-Cream-dry herb vaporizer colours

OK so the Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer looks good and has a really cool design…so how does it vape?

How Does the Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer Perform?

Given the recreational use of cannabis is illegal here in the UK, for this review I used the last of my perfectly legal CBD Flower – the Artisan CBD Frosted Kush – sent to me for the Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer review.

I ground the flower to about the same kind of size as herbs found in jars and loosely packed it into the oven/chamber.

cbd flower vaporizer

I know the taste of this CBD Flower very well indeed, so let’s see how it vapes through the x4 temperature levels.

Level 1:Green – 392°F

Ummm not so sure this temperature level is ideal ‘for flavour chasers‘.

For me it felt a little too cool and the usual whack of flavour wasn’t coming through.

Sure it was a decent vape but I felt it needed a bit more oomph – not a lot of vapour or kick on the throat either.

Level 2: Blue – 410°F

Much better to say the least and I felt the earthiness of the terpenes really began to shine through.

I was getting more of that slightly sweetened frostiness too.

The vapour was slightly thicker – but still not that cloudy – however the hit to the throat was a nice little tickle.

Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer oven size

Level 3: Purple – 428°F

I’m not sure I’ve ever vaped on a herb at this high temperature.

Saying that it really wasn’t hot but the warmer side of warm if that makes sense.

At this temp the terpenes really did pop and that sweet sugariness from the CBD Flower really came to the fore.

The device didn’t warm up at all BTW.

Level 4: White – 446°F

This is a pretty high temperature for sure, however I found this the very best one for me.

The flavour was intense with deep rich notes coming through creating a very moreish vape indeed.

The clouds whilst not sub ohm style, were like a decent MTL vape and the throat hit like the vapour was warm with a nice tickle to the tonsils.

I did find vaping half an oven on Blue and then swapping to White gave me the best experience…

Pros

  • Dead simple to operate
  • Good flavour
  • Decent vapour
  • Good oven size – can be adjusted
  • Lovely design
  • Great build quality
  • Choice of temperatures
  • Great price!

Cons

  • Dry herb only no concentrates
  • Lack of proper airflow

Final Review Verdict

I’m going to call this a budget herb vaporizer – but that in NO way takes away the performance – it is really very very good for the price.

The design is very eye catching – I would like to have seen some kind of knurling to make it less slippy – but that’s a nitpick to say the least.

The x4 temperature settings are great and very noticeable compared to a few herb vaporizers I’ve tried where they all feel a bit the same.

The oven is just big enough for a large or sharing session and the removable stopper cuts down the fill by about a third.

It is extremely easy to operate and would be perfect for those of you new to herb vaporizers and it won’t break the bank either 😉

As you can probably guess, the Lookah Ice Cream Vaporizer has really impressed me and remember I’ve reviewed some of the best and most expensive out there – so yeah, HIGHly recommended.

Designed by a former Apple designer Mark Williams the Firefly 2 is known in vaporizer circles as the iPhone of those devices – for obvious reasons!

Is The Firefly 2 The Best Dry Herb Vaporizer Money Can Buy?

However, after using this bad boy for a little over a month – I don’t think that label does it justice – it’s the Rolls Royce – with might I add gold trimmings and diamond encrusted wheel nuts!

In a word this is amazing – yeah I know I’m already gushing but trust me this is something a little bit special to say the least!

This is an upgrade to the original Firefly – which sadly I never used – and those in the know say as upgrades go this is perfect.

The Firefly brand was formed by Mark and partner Sasha Robinson back in 2012 – they met at the Burning Man Festival [go figure lol] and had a dream to create the ultimate vaporizer.

So from the sound of my intro it looks as though they have succeeded – or have they?

Let’s take a closer look.

This was kindly sent to me by Mark and Sasha free of charge for the purpose of this review – to say I’m grateful or should I say ‘stoked’ is an understatement.

However, and as always, my thoughts and opinions are my own and most importantly honest.

Disclaimer:
If the use of certain dry herb offends you or more importantly is illegal in your country or state – then obviously this review is not for you and most importantly neither are we promoting its use. Please check your country or state for laws regarding the use of marijuana and certain ‘concentrates’.

firefly 2 instructions

Key Features

OK the first thing to note is not only the simple clean lines and elegance of this device – but the ease of use.

Secondly is the sheer speed of the bake – 3 seconds flat and your herb is at a toasty 400F.

firefly app

Pair this up via Bluetooth with your chosen device and you have an extremely easy to navigate and operate system as well as upgrading the firmware.

Unfortunately, as I’m an old guy I didn’t have anything that I could ‘pair it up with’ – however I was able to borrow my sons phone [I forgot to take a photo of it ‘paired up] and set up the Firefly 2 as I wanted it.

If like me you’re in the stone age the device can be used straight out of the box until you find or borrow a suitable phone or tablet.

The Firefly 2 can be used for both herbs and concentrates and just like the designers say ‘a little goes a long way’.

The vaporizer is extremely lightweight and certainly pocket friendly and features two touch sensors.

This can be changed to one via the app – however I found that keeping the two setting was best.

So how do we get the Firefly 2 to send us to that happy place?

Firefly 2 Quick Start Guide

[Please check the list of compatible devices – as I mentioned none of mine would pair up.]

OK, to get into the control system you’ll need to pair the device up via Bluetooth – once that’s done you can tinker to get your perfect settings.

The screen is pretty self-explanatory:

  • Switch heating profile from concentrates to herb
  • Increase decrease temperature
  • Update firmware
  • Battery level indicator
  • Set the sensors from one to two or left or right

Operating the Firefly 2

Its best to charge the device as soon as you get it – to do this connect the USB cable to the charging dock and then to your PC or whatever you use to charge.

I found that on a flat battery it can take around an hour to fully charge – out of the box it was ready in 15 minutes as it must have had some power left in the tank.

firefly 2 battery

To remove the battery you’ll need to slide off the base – take out the battery and replace with the spare.

You do need to put the device [with battery installed] on the dock to charge – it’s very similar to those re-chargeable batteries you find in cameras – so vaping whilst charging.

firefly 2 charging

OK I found that like the previous dry herb vaporizers I’ve used the herb doesn’t need to be finely ground – keep it quite coarse.

The bowl looks small but trust me due to the amazing [and very even] convection heating system as I’ve already said ‘a little goes a long way’.

  • Fill the herb to the rim of the bowl and pack it down gently giving it space to breathe.
  • Replace the magnetic cover.
  • Place both fingers on the touch sensors to begin baking your herb or concentrate.
  • LED light turns to ‘green’ [lol] when ready to vape.
  • Inhale long and deep – whilst still holding the sensors.
  • Once you release the sensors the Firefly 2 stops heating.
  • Stir your bowl every 5 or so puffs.

For heating concentrates follow the same procedure but first change the profile via the app to concentrates and place one of the supplied pads in the bowl.

And like the amount of herb you really don’t need much!

Design and Build Quality

One word – sublime.

The design is down to former iPhone designer and Apple employee Mark Williams and it shows.

Little wonder those in the know call this the iPhone of the dry herb vaporizer world – it not only looks good it feels good and everything marries together beautifully.

firefly 2 in hand

The Firefly 2 is elegant to say the least with clean un-fussy lines and a wonderful texture to it that is good to grip and apparently made from aerospace grade materials – not sure what they are but this is a joy to hold and look at.

The magnetic top cover is held on with very strong magnets that do take a bit of a tug to pull off – which is a good thing ensuring an airtight bowl.

Speaking of the bowl it does come with pads for concentrates – unfortunately I was unable to get my hands on any.

The bowl and indeed the mirrored glass top is made from ‘Gorilla Glass’ the type found in higher end mobile phones whilst the vapor travels along what Mark describes as a borosilicate glass vapor path – this I assume is where the incredibly rich – deep – clean – crisp and ultra smooth taste comes from.

The mouthpiece is plastic and comes with a particle filter to capture those loose strands that might get through and there is word of glass tips becoming available soon.

The mouthpiece can be removed for cleaning purposes though trust me you need to be careful as out of the box it’s in there tight!

I received the jet black version which I have to say looks bloody gorgeous and black – blue – gold – red – white – zebra wood and oak are available.

The front is topped off with a discreet Firefly 2 logo – which looks very similar to a cannabis plant – and really does add to the absolutely stunning look of this dry herb vaporizer.

To say I’m impressed is a real understatement.

I’m not an Apple fanboy – I had the first iPhone but prefer Android – but Mark Williams is nothing short of a design genius.

This is understated yet sublime simplicity in design of the finest I’ve seen on any vape device and ever likely too.

Wow.

How Does the Firefly 2 Vaporizer Perform?

Oh my!

Packing is as easy as can be [keep it loose!] and the magnetic cover snaps into place with a satisfying click.

The touch sensors are just that – light to the touch to say the least and flash on instantaneously.

firefly 2 pack herb looseI absolutely love the orange glow that lights up the bowl and the tip of the device – guess you can see what it’s called a Firefly!

Using a new and very pungent strain I’ve been able to pick up – that I’d been using in the VaporFi Orbit – I filled the bowl and got baking.

I was immediately met with the most amazing aroma – it seemed this herb had been waiting for this device in able to fully release its depths!

Because of that I was a little shall we say conservative with my first toke as I was expecting to get walloped by what the smell was suggesting.

I needn’t have bothered because instead of the harsh taste and throat hit I was expecting what I got was the smoothest tastiest draw I’ve had in a long time.

My God anyone who likes the taste of herb will know exactly what I’m getting at – earthy – rich – natural and the taste and smell of the terpenes was mind blowing – literally.

Based on that I held on my next draw for a full ten seconds and really did get the benefit of a smooth clean tasty and extremely potent bowl of goodness – and we ain’t talking cornflakes!

Wow again!

And oh boy – this is a superior vape in every way.

With a clearer head I looked a little more closely at the heating system to find there’s ‘55 laser-drilled micro jets of superheated air’ streaming into the bowl and just like the designer says this really does give ‘rich, thick vapor on demand.’

You can literally cut the vapour with a knife it’s that dense and as I keep banging on about – with a flavor to match.

I dunno about the iPhone of dry herb vaporizers – for me this is definitely the Rolls Royce!

What I Like

Looks and ease of use aside – which in themselves are fantastic – it’s the depth of flavor you get from this beauty.

And given it only bakes when you’re taking a draw – the bowl lasts a lot longer.

firefly glow
firefly 2 glows

As design goes it’s quite simply stunningly simple yet elegant and screams class.

The ease of use is straight out of the box simple and paired up with your Bluetooth device the settings are a breeze to use enabling you to really tailor your vape.

But it’s the flavor and vapour that stands out here – my goodness its rich – deep – satisfying and I’m pretty sure that means it brings out the very best in your chosen ‘filling’ – and then some.

Here’s another Wow!

What I Don’t Like

OK back with my grumpy reviewer hat on and to be honest there’s not a lot to dislike about the Firefly 2.

However I have to say the mouthpiece being plastic is maybe a bit of a letdown – glass would have lifted this device to a higher level than it already is – it’s also a bugger to get out the first few times so be careful!

Whilst charging is super fast you do have to charge the battery whilst still inside the device – so make sure you keep one battery fully charged to stop you from hanging around!

However to balance that battery life is superb and I guess I was getting about 8 lengthy sessions out of it before I needed to re-charge – me and the battery!

And finally the price – it might make you gulp a little but trust me for the serious herb and concentrate user it’s a small price to pay for the sheer pleasurable perfection the Firefly 2 delivers.

Final Review Verdict

It’s not often you see the words stoner and sophisticated in the same sentence 😉

However with the use of this type of herb fast coming into the mainstream for all types of users then it’s only natural the more discerning are catered for – particularly those of us who prefer to ‘toke without the smoke’.

firefly baking
green for go

I say sophisticated and the Firefly 2 really does deserve that label but like the very best designed things out there it’s the simple clean lines that makes this stand out from the crowd – it looks bloody classy.

Looks as we know aren’t everything and underneath that gorgeous exterior lies a real tamed beast of a device that delivers the best vaping experience – e-liquid or herb – I’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy.

Dude this is sick – gnarly – and literally dope – see I told you I was down with the kids lol.

I suggest the serious stoners and regular users of ‘green’ should invest their hard earned greenbacks in the Firefly 2 – trust me with the right filling it will light up your life giving you the perfect buzz 😉

Pros

  • Simple to use
  • Lightweight
  • Elegant looks
  • Superfast baking
  • Mobile app for tailored settings
  • Herb and Concentrate
  • Superb flavor and vapour
  • Easy to clean

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Mouthpiece in very tight at first

The Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer has had a major overhaul with a whole host of improvements on the original Davinci IQ device.

It’s now dual purpose taking both herb and wax material, and an airflow control has been added.

Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer review

There’s plenty more improvements which I’ll look at later, but they’ve come at a hefty price.

A budget vaporizer this isn’t, and it’s right up there price wise with the most exclusive vaporizers on the planet!

So is it worth quite a lot of your hard earned green?

Let’s see.

This was sent to me free of charge direct from Davinci just in time for Christmas and for the purpose of this review.

It came in a very smart presentation box which included a jar of CBD Flower a magnetic grinder and thumb drive – so thank you so much for the extra goodies 🙂

davinci iq2 review

As always my thoughts and opinions aren’t swayed by freebies and the review was done with a ‘clear head’ given I used legal CBD Flower kindly supplied by Davinci.

So is this one a work of art?

What Can We Expect From the Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer?

The most obvious new feature is the Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer is now dual purpose – meaning it can take both herb and wax/extracts.

Add to that the airflow feature that Davinci says means you can get a 50% cooler vape than on most vaporizers – and for once a mark 2 product has indeed had much more than a design makeover.

It doesn’t stop there either with the revolutionary Fill Your Own – Know Your Dose app.

davinci iq2 vaporizer app

By using the app and popping in the amount, strain and potency of your material – the Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer will track and report back to you the amount you’ve used per session and draw.

If you add the max dose you require – the device will shut off when that is reached.

It’s not something I would use personally, however in places where cannabis is legal and comes with detailed descriptions – I can see the point.

Many users are now using legal CB Flower as well as other herbs such as mint – lavender and catnip – Google is your friend as to what herb does what 😉

As I always say, here in the UK cannabis is illegal and therefore no-one really knows the strain or indeed potency…

The device is slightly bigger, as is the oven – the IQ Pearl is also 30% larger and is designed to pack the materials more tightly.

The vapour pathway has also been modified which is supposed to make it much easier to clean and the overall look of the device has a very smart sand-blasted aluminum shell.

The Davinci IQ2 comes in x4 very smart colours: onyx – gunmetal – azure and amethyst.

davinci iq2 vaporizer review
with the extended mouthpiece

Design and Build Quality

Just like its predecessor, the Davinci IQ2 is wonderfully designed and machined – kind of.

The previous vaporizer was nice to the touch, but could get a little slippery.

This has now been changed thanks to the brushed aluminum finish which also adds to its premium looks.

There are a couple of niggles though.

The 18650 battery cap – on top of the device – is a little annoying as you need to pull it open and close the catch manually and at times it can be fiddly to bite – doesn’t feel premium either.

battery door

My preferred extended mouth piece needs to fit on to the silicone adapter before use and that too can be a tad fiddly to fit.

The ‘dosage pad’ is also a bit of a nuisance.

This is a little ceramic cage designed to either halve the amount of materials you’re using – or allow the use of wax/extracts/dab with the supplied ceramic disc.

dosage pad

I found the top of the canister was fiddly to get on securely and to be honest 0.2g of the legal CBD Flower I was using wasn’t enough for a regular user like me – ideal for short sessions though 🙂

If you are looking for smaller oven fills – the Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer has optional extras in the shape of glass spacers which can be bought from the website – I don’t have any but would think this would be a much easier/cleaner way to level off your chosen dosage.

Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer Oven

The baking oven is made from glass and ceramic with a reasonable size to it meaning not too much spillage when filling.

iq pearl

The IQ Pearl – that ball you see under the lid, is larger than on the original and can theoretically be adjusted – to be honest I didn’t see the need as it did the job of packing the materials in tightly enough for my tastes.

Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer Flavour Chamber

The flavour chamber is back and can be found under the lid at the top of the device.

This has a dual purpose in that it helps cool the vapour and can also be used as storage for enough herb for more sessions.

flavour chamber

You remove it by using the ‘pick’ supplied in the accessory box.

How Does the Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer Perform?

First up lets do a quick rundown of how to get vaping:

Davinci IQ2 Quick Start Guide

  • Open the oven on the bottom of the device
  • Pack tightly with chosen material in this case herb
  • Turn on the IQ2 with x5 clicks of the power button
  • Adjust baking temp via up and down buttons
  • Choose from x4 presets:
  • Mode 1: starts at 350F and increases to 370F
  • Mode 2: starts at 370F and increases to 390F
  • Mode 3- starts at 390 and increases to 410F
  • Mode 4: starts at 410 and increases to 430F
  • Device vibrates when temp is reached and ready to vape
  • Precision mode: hit power button once and use up and down buttons to get perfect temp
  • Boost mode: hold power button and temp will jump to the max of 430F
  • Hold all 3 buttons to switch between F and C

Using the Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer

I used the legal CBD Flower supplied – in this case the Artisan CBD Frosted Kush.

I’ve hi-lighted the word ‘legal’ – as according to UK law, legal CBD Flower comes in under 0.2% of THC.

For those in the USA – 0.3% is perfectly legal.

cbd flower
CBD Flower

OK legalities over lol – this product looks identical to a cannabis bud and I’ve not yet had the pleasure of trying a flavoured CBD Flower!

I used the beautiful magnetic grinder kindly sent to me by Davinci and ground finely – think herbs in a supermarket jar size.

I really did pack it in knowing the IQ Pearl would tamp it all down.

Davinci IQ2 Temperature Tests

I began on the lower temperature with the airflow closed off to its lowest setting.

It was a decent vape – a little warm and with the same restriction of an airy MTL tank – decent flavour and very very good clouds.

At mid-range the temp jumped slightly and by opening up the airflow to half-way the flavour seemed to improve and the vape was much cooler as you might expect.

airflow control
airflow control

I have used the device with the airflow fully open at 430 and found my personal perfect vape.

Bags of flavour – the cool side of warm and a really quite impressive amount of vapour.

By that I can see the airflow works beautifully given 420F was a little to hot for my taste off the original device.

davinci iq2 vaporizer in hand

I do NOT have any wax/extract – so was unable to test that aspect of the Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer.

I did try and use the dosage pad for a smaller fill and after a bit of fiddling about was able to use it – sadly it’s a little too fiddly for me.

I have had a look at the app too – but as it’s not something I’d use I didn’t really have a play around with it.

The app can be found on the Google Play store.

Pros

  • Dual purpose
  • Stylish design
  • Amazing flavour
  • Incredible vapour production
  • Simple to use
  • Easy to personalize settings
  • Cool app
  • Firmware upgrade-able
  • 10 year warranty

Cons

  • High price point!
  • Battery door a little flimsy

Final Review Verdict

The elephant in the room is of course does the Davinci IQ2 Vaporizer deserve such a lofty price tag?

Yes and no – get me on the fence ha!

I can’t fault the vape quality off this one at all – and trust me it’s slightly edging out my go to Firefly 2 Vaporizer and that should tell you all you need to know 🙂

It’s beating it in flavour for sure and definitely vapour production if that’s your thing.

I also like the fact it is powered by an 18650 battery rather than internal and I did find one hour was about the max I got out of it.

Remember this is not like a regular vape device – so 1 hour can be about 6 sessions per charge.

However that battery door worries me and unlike the rest of the device it doesn’t feel as well made – good it’s a 10 year warranty 😉

The app is great – but really down to the real vaporizer connoisseurs who enjoy tinkering with facts stats and dosage and not something I’d use at all.

It’s definitely easy enough to use straight out of the box so ideal for a beginner, but at the current launch price this is definitely one for the real enthusiasts.

Would I buy it?

It’s over twice the price of the original and sure you get some very good improvements…

Simply put – I couldn’t afford it – but if you’re a serious user – this is the best vaporizer I’ve had the pleasure of trying out.

So is this a vaporizer you’re interested in buying?

Or one you’re already using?

Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
