The UD Gaxi 60W Kit is from a brand also known as Youde located on the coast of the South China Sea, is a young and upcoming vape brand, specializing in stylish and affordable gear.gaxi kit ud main

The name most likely won’t ring any bells for you currently but we may be hearing a lot more from them in future as the company has recently undergone a massive expansion project and hit the ground running with the delightful little GAXI kit I’m reviewing for you today.

Now…the brand seems to have some pretty interesting gear on the market already, probably best known for the Youde Goblin range of RTA and the Zephryus Sub-Ohm Tank which I’d absolutely love to get my hands on.

Their kits section seems to have been reserved in the past, mostly, for teeny tiny all in ones and cigalike sized pods like the VIE, which I am lucky enough to own (a great little, draw activated, nic-salt loving pod mod) but today’s review is about a mini mod kit, the UD GAXI.

What Can We Expect From The Gaxi Mini Mod Kit By UD

The Gaxi is a simplistic and altogether delicious 60W mini mod that comes with one of best MTL tanks I’ve ever vaped.

It’s seldom that a tank can pull off out of control MTL and really decent DL as well, without the need to change coil or drip-tip and yet, this one does. The mod, is pretty damn cool too…read on to find out more!

Build Quality & Design

Gaxi Mod

On receiving the attractive and very well presented, black Gaxi boxes (I got two colours! The black and the blue, lucky me!) I was excited to sample goods from a relatively unknown brand (to me) but to be fair, was not expecting much…especially when I saw the size of the spare coils they sent me for the tiny Tinis tank…some of the smallest coils I’ve laid eyes on!gaxi kit ud hand

The brand’s motto is ‘Unification of Design’ and this really shines through in the unique ergonomics and visual appeal of this mod.

A short, round edged rectangle with racing twin stripes down both sides, one side’s stripes interrupted with the biggest, roundest fire button you could hope for. The fire button doesn’t make an audible click but it has a tactile click and something about the aesthetic just makes you ask, “why haven’t I seen a mod that looks like this before?”.gaxi kit ud front

This isn’t a TC mod and it makes sense that the brand has given the fire button pride of place over the screen, since it’s really all about simple, straight-fire vaping on this little beastie. I love the concept!

This little guy features a built in 3200 battery but no battery vents are to be seen. Only 2 little screws on the bottom, which I doubt I’ll unscrew unless my battery packs in!

When facing the fire button, the narrow vertical side on the left has a micro USB port at the bottom and a small but bright 22mm long screen above that.gaxi kit ud 510

I can’t help but notice the parallels (22mm tank, 22mm screen) and adherence to form like this is what makes this little mod and tank come across so, well…perfect, I guess.

On top is a centralized 510 connection that’s tight but spring loaded, set inside an SS tank seating that’s emblazoned with some pretty cool decorations.

The front side has the monster FIREBUTTON which has a bright LED behind it so that a ring lights up around the button when you fire, changing colour as battery levels wane.

There is a sizeable gap beneath the fire button which would mean that e-liquid leaking down the side of the mod should definitely be avoided although after a little research, I discover that the circuitboard is water, dust and static proof, which certainly makes me feel better!

gaxi kit ud screen

The fire button is a magnificent 25mm in diameter, whoop whoop, and sits flush with the mod’s side.

Both mod and tank combined weigh in at 174g so a nice weight to this mini, which adds even more of a quality feel to this zinc alloy mod, who’s immaculate, racing stripe finish makes it look the absolute business.UD Gaxi review

Below the firebutton are two conjoined adjustment buttons, long and just 1 mm thin, not clicky but very responsive, nonetheless.

All buttons are made of black plastic.

I was keen to take off the Tinis tank and fit some bigger ones, the first of which was the Prince tank by Smok. No overhang and what a unique look, with the length of the mod and tank almost the same but the squat design of the Gaxi actually complementing the bubble glass on the Prince nicely.gaxi kit ud back

This mini mod looks awesome with all the tanks and RDA’s I fitted, anything up to a 24mm and it manages to hold its own!

Tinis Tank

The Tinis tank is a sturdy little thing, surprising really. It’s really small, don’t get me wrong…but it just feels so solid and strong.

The airlow ring, which is adjustable, has 4 tiny, evenly spaced slots along its upper edge, although the size of the ring makes it a little difficult to adjust while screwed in. The airflow ring is black.

Above that is a small 2ml tank and above that, a complex looking top cap, which slides and swivels open at once with an extremely firm but very satisfactory movement, to reveal to particularly small fill holes which only really work with the smallest nozzles.

There is a white arrow indicating the point away from which you need to push the cap to open it.

It will only open when the mouthpiece section, a delrin disk, connected to the proprietary drip tip, is unlocked, there are markings so that you know what’s what on this section also.

The drip tip is about the thickness of a 510 on the outside, but its walls are extra thick so that the opening through which you draw is just 4mm across.gaxi kit ud tinis tank exploded view

The tank is colour coded to match your mod and while I’m not one for itty bitty 22mls, this one was set to surprise me more than once.

It feels very, very well made indeed. Nothing rattly or flimsy at all, whatsoever, nice…

Break down was super easy, with quality o-rings all round. I was interested to find that the coil head, which is minuscule, slips into a shaft connected to the top cap, from underneath, and is held in place by an o-ring…as opposed to being screwed into a base seating…the central shaft screws into the base seating instead.

Let me just say, the size of these coils is very misleading, I later found out.

How Does The UD Gaxi Kit Perform?

The Gaxi Mod

Look, this mod is not about fancy power curves and TC functions, it’s not about navigating through a colourful interface that takes up half the side of the mod…it’s clearly just about good, clean and convenient vaping on the go.

Beyond the obvious good looks of the Gaxi mod, it’s a phenomenal performer and I really put it through the motions, vaping it on numerous coil sizes and with tanks of varying description, I found its performance to be flawless, throughout its 60W range.

gaxi kit ud lightAs mentioned earlier, I spent a good deal of time vaping the Prince tank (probably one of my favourites, I have 5 of them now) on this little guy and enjoyed better performance at 60W on the Gaxi, than I had with the prince on some of my larger mods.

Ramp time is near instantaneous, even on the biggest coils. I’m currently vaping the Prince with a huge 0.15Ohm coil head, firing at 50W and the Ramp is INSTANT, vapour production excellent and it actually feels like 70W! This is the lower end of that coilheads spectrum but this mod pulls it off really well.

I also like the fact that the mod sets itself to 15W with the 1.5Ohm coilhead and 25W with the 0.8 Ohm head…I’d usually have aimed higher but soon discovered that with this mod and these coils , it simply wasn’t necessary.

It sets a 0.15Ohm coil head to 55W and vapes it like a dream at that wattage, it’s an awesome little mini-mod!

New atomizer readings are instantaneous and flawless. Battery life is brilliant!

I can’t fault this mod, one of the simplest but also, without doubt, one of the best small vape mods I own of this tiny size…and cute as a button!

The Tinis Tank

The Tinis tank is sooo small and the drip tip so narrow that I expected nothing but mouth to lung (MTL) here but I tell you, this tank does awesome restricted DL and, wait for it, outstanding MTL…Flavour and cloud through the roof but we will get to that in the coils section.

I’m seriously blown away by this tank’s ability to do MTL and restricted DL perfectly with no need to change coils or drip tip (you can’t change drip tips anyway). And…as someone who usually doesn’t enjoy MTL that much, it’s tanks like these that make me wanna carry an MTL device on me more and more. Wow, really satisfying!

I do find that the airflow adjustment can be tricky, there isn’t the best knurling on the airflow ring…that’s my only complaint, that and the fact that with this kind of vapour production, 2mls ends up being too little and I wish there was a tank glass extension, even for MTL!

How To Fillgaxi kit ud tinis refill

  • Look for the unlock marking on the top cap and twist to unlock
  • Look for the arrow marking on the side of the top cap and push the top of the top cap away from it
  • Swivel and open
  • Refill through one of the holes

How To Change the Coil

  • Unscrew the glass from the base
  • Pull the coilhead out of the central shaft
    replace
  • Screw the tank back onto its base

Stock Coil Performance

Now, don’t get me wrong, the 1.5 Ohm, 13-18W option is an excellent one for the stealth vaper or someone looking to conserve even more battery power; it’s got good flavour and does 15 W like not a lot of coils can, with decent cloud to boot. Not a big range but a good performer for lighter vaping.

This 0.8 ohm coil, however, is the beeezkneeez. This coil loves MTL, the thickest, fullest, most outstanding MTL you could ask for, with awesome flavour, between 20 and 28 W, though I’ve vaped it up to 40 with no qualms!

Wow, what really gets me is how well this coil in the Tinis does both DL (restricted) and MTL. Definitely my favourite of the two…and it’s so small!gaxi kit ud tinis coils

Do yourself a favour though, buy an extra coil pack, small coils like this can’t be expected to run forever, I’ve had mine in just over a week and it’s still going strong but I’d give it another week at most.

How To Operate the Menu System

  • 5 Clicks on or off
  • Long hold + and – to set resistance
  • Hold – and fire to lock or unlock
  • Hold + and fire to see the serial number

Battery Life

This 3200 mAh battery lasts for ages, battery life is soo damn good, especially since this mod makes lower wattages feel like higher ones!

I get a good 8-10 hours vaping the 0.8 ohm coil at 25W, with charge as fast as lightning in under an hour!

The Indicator light behind the fire button shines red from 0-20% (when you fire), blue from 21-60% and white from 60-100%.

Pros

  • Compact and ergonomic
  • Sexy, racing stripe finish
  • Looks sharp with larger 23mm tanks
  • Superior battery life with fast charge
  • low wattage MTL and DL vape with awesome cloud and flavour
  • Simple operation
  • Massive, responsive fire button
  • Instant Ramp

Cons

  • Airflow ring not easy to adjust, very small
  • Tank empties fast

Final Review Verdict

I have a bunch of mini mods which I reserve as spares and emergency mods when my 18650s or 20700s run out of power. Many come in kits with mini tanks which, while convenient and effective for beginners, don’t necessarily float MY boat and often feel flimsy or leak.

I found the Tinis to be such an enjoyable MTL tank to use, which such great flavour and cloud on the 0.8 Ohm coils, that I will keep it near by as a go-to MTL tank in future. It never leaks, it’s brilliantly made. The Gaxi mod is versatile, sitting happily with large and small tanks, with a stunning finish and ergonomic size that packs punch and battery life. If you’re looking for a pocket mod, you can’t beat the Gaxi 60W Kit by UD.

And..

Would I buy the UD Gaxi if I lost/broke the device? Definitely

The Youde ED Apro 24 is a new sub ohm tank which uses Mesh style coil heads.

apro 24 advertThere is also apparently a UD Apro 22 which is a 22mm version.

Youde have a good reputation for building great tanks and we have reviewed a few here in the past which performed well – the UD Simba Tank and the UD Goblin Mini V2.

This new tank as I stated above uses mesh coil heads – which seems to be the new thing in vaping.

apro 24 componentsMesh has a larger surface area to atomise liquid so theoretically will give better flavour and vapour.

The kit includes 2 mesh coils heads which are SS316L and wicked with Organic Cotton. The coil heads are 0.2ohm and 0.5ohm and they have a pull/push installation system.

There are also Ni80 coil heads available in 0.8ohm and 1.5ohm.

apro 24 mesh coilsThe tank as the name suggests is a 25mm diameter (?) and the apparently “innovative” bottom cap design will reduce leaking from condensation.

A “Stealth” airflow system basically hides the air inlet holes in the viewing window – but I am not sure if the airflow is adjustable?

The tank comes in 2 colours – Black and Silver.

From what I can see online so far – this is a pre-order status and looks to be available towards the end of January 2018.

The price does look excellent.

The push pull coil heads could make life a lot easier for people who are new to coil changes.

I think for the price this could be a great buy and a good introduction tank for those new to sub ohm vaping.

Do you think this is a tank Youde like to buy? (Sorry….)

Today we will be looking at the UD Skywalker RDA, a new addition to UD’s collection of drippers.

UD or ‘Youde Technology’ are a company based in china well known for their affordable vaping devices, atomisers and accessories.

They have previously released products such as the Balrog, and the Goblin Mini V3 and Zephyrus series of atomisers.

The UD Skywalker RDA is available in black and stainless steel finishes.

As always my opinions are honest and my own.

What’s In The Box

  • Skywalker RDA
  • Spare O-Rings & Post Screws
  • BF Squonk Pin
  • 2 x Fused Clapton Coils
  • Warranty Terms Leaflet
  • Information Leaflet

Features

  • W: 24mm H: 29.5mm
  • Weight: 120g
  • 4mm deep juice well
  • 2 posts design with 3mm wide vertically slotted posts
  • SS, Delrin & Ultem Construction

Build Quality & Design

So let’s start from the top! At the top of the Skywalker, you have an 810 or ‘goon style’ drip tip. On the black version you get a delrin drip tip, and on the SS version, you will receive an SS drip tip.

Beneath that is the Ultem or PEI airflow control barrel. This has one o-ring in the top to secure the drip tip and one external o-ring so that it grips the outer airflow barrel.

This has three slots in it to allow dual or single coil builds on the deck. I have found that it is quite tough to adjust the airflow on this atty.

The outer airflow barrel is made from stainless steel and has two dual horizontal cyclops airflow holes, and as you can see from the picture, they are split in the middle.

You also have a logo with two Lightsabres behind it, along with “Skywalker RDA” beneath it.

The deck features two massive posts, with big and chunky post screws which are adjusted with a flat head screwdriver.

These posts can acommodate up to 3-4mm wide coils quite comfortably.

The juice well is also roughly 4mm deep. Around the outside of the deck are two o-rings which secure the outer airflow barrel.

At the bottom of the deck, the user can choose to use either the solid 510 pin, or the hollow pin for squonking depending on what device they are using it on.

This is easy enough to change with a flat headed screwdriver.

Overall, this RDA is built very well.

There were no signs of machine oil, no sharp edges or any defects that need addressing.

The only slight downfall is the noisy airflow which may bug some people.

I believe that this is due to the bar that splits the airflow into two.

Here are a few pictures of the Skywalker RDA on various devices:

The Sigelei KAOS SpectrumThe COV WraithThe Lost Vape Drone BF

Prebuilt Fused Clapton Coils

Included in the Skywalker RDA are two prebuilt fused claption coils. They fit nicely on the deck and produce some good flavour and reasonable clouds!

The Dodgy Branding

The UD Skywalker features text, font and logos which are under trademark with Disney/Star Wars/Lucas Arts.

This, in my opinion, is a bad move from UD and puts this RDA in a bad light.

Extremely lazy branding indeed. How hard is it to think up a name of an atomiser without infringing copyright or IP laws?

For example, they could have called this “The Cloudbuster RDA 3000” without any problems… Feel free to use that one in the future, UD!

I personally do not agree with or endorse the branding on this atomiser from UD.

How Does the UD Skywalker RDA Perform?

Coil Performance (Included Fused Clapton Coils)

The included fused clapton coils come out to 0.14Ω when paired, which is a great resistance for dripping, but the coils do tend to pop and spit at high wattages.

I wicked the coils with some Texas Tuff Cotton.

40w Test:

An extremely tepid and ‘meh’ vape. The coils ramp up nicely, but aren’t producing much flavour or clouds

50w Test:

I would say 50w is the bare minimum to vape with the included coils. They start to crackle and pop, but not too badly. The flavour is pretty standard at this wattage, and so are the clouds.

60w Test:

Now we’re getting somewhere! The flavour and clouds are coming through nicely. A warm vape, but nothing too bad. This RDA can still go higher!

70w Test:

Again, some nice flavour and clouds, the vape is becoming a lot warmer and I’m getting the odd spit of hot e-liquid on my tongue.

Sweet Spot:

I personally like vaping this at around 64w, you get a great combination of flavour and clouds, and not a lot of hot e-liquid hitting your tongue.

Ease Of Build On The Skywalker RDA

The Skywalker RDA is extremely easy to build on. The wide post slots allow coils up to 3mm wide to fit comfortably.

I would recommend cutting the legs off the first coil before installing the second coil though.

The posts and post screws are built very well and I haven’t experienced any weakness, bending or warping when clamping down the coils.

See The Skywalker In Action With My Video Review & Build Tutorial

What I Like

It’s a lovely looking RDA. I like the contrasting black and Ultem sections on the Skywalker.

The deck is extremely easy to build on and wick as well.

It produces reasonable flavour and clouds no matter what build you put on it. The hollow squonk pin.

What I Dislike

The branding – A massive no-no.

The Ultem may bug some people, but that’s completely subjective.

Stiff airflow control. The noisy airflow.

Final Review Verdict

A great RDA, easy to build on and use, but it’s a shame that the branding lets it down.

Would I buy the UD Skywalker RDA if I lost or broke it?

If it was re-branded. Yes. But in its current state, not at all.

Have you used the Skywalker RDA? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Pros

  • Very easy to build on
  • Great looking RDA
  • Decent flavour and cloud production

Cons

  • Branding – Not a good move for me
  • Stiff and noisy airflow

  • Clear OLED display

Design and Build Quality

The UD Sifu B-Tab measures in at 90mm x 55mm x 26.5mm, meaning it isn’t the smallest device on the market.

I have pretty average sized hands and this feels huge in the palm of my hand, and it isn’t the most comfortable unit either! UD Sifu B Tab review

It is manufactured from aircraft grade aluminium, and although the device is bulky it has a very nice finish to it.

I felt that the OLED screen is a particular highlight on this device, clear in any light condition, and easy to read the information that is displayed on screen.

There are two spring loaded 510 connectors present, one at the side for use as a building station, and one at the top of the device if you wish to use it as a mod.

There are two holes for the multimeter wire leads, once fitted you can test your coil resistance before you fit the coil to your atomiser, and large stainless steel buttons that are very responsive.UD Sifu B Tab Multi Meter

A USB port is found for charging and upgrading, and one of the best features is the magnetic battery door cover.

This also flips over and reveals a non slip surface, meaning you can build without fear of your Sifu B-Tab sliding around!UD Sifu B Tab base

How Does The UD Sifu B-Tab Perform?

All in all, it actually performs very well indeed as both a building station and a mod!

Neither feels like a gimmick that has been tacked onto the device, and both offer the same functions as their stand alone counterparts.UD Sifu B Tab

As a building station, you have all the functions you need to build your coils. Resistance is accurately read down to 0.01ohm, and you can test fire coil builds with resistances as low as 0.05ohm.

The multi-meter leads mean that you can clip these onto your coil build and test the resistance before fitting your coil. This means you can be sure you are satisfied with your coil resistance without having to install the coil first to check.

As a mod, the UD Sifu B-Tab is actually a great little device.

You have 70w of power to use, and temperature control can support wires made from Ni200, Titanium, Stainless Steel 316L and there is a TCR input as well, should you wish to use a different wire in temperature control.UD Sifu B Tab build

The chip provides stable and accurate performance, and I have found it to be perfectly reliable.

Battery life is a bit of a downside unfortunately. The UD Sifu B-Tab only takes a single 18650 battery, and this does drain quite quickly during usage.

You can access the battery compartment easily thanks to the magnetic battery door cover, and USB charging is also built into the device as well.

What I Liked

Even though it is a pretty hefty unit, the UD Sifu B-Tab is solidly made, and it’s able to withstand heavy day to day usage.

I’ve given it a really good bashing, and it’s absorbed pretty much everything I can throw at it!

It’s even survived a few hard drops on the floor as well, which is pretty impressive.

The large stainless steel fire button is great and the magnetic battery door cover has a non slip coating, so you can flip it over and give your Sifu B-Tab more traction when building on a flat surface.

As an all in one solution, this is a really handy unit to have. You have got a fully functional building station, as well as a vape mod that has pretty comprehensive functions, and neither mode feels like it has been tacked on as a gimmick.

The OLED display is very clear and easy to read under pretty much any light condition. I never had any trouble seeing what was displayed onscreen!

What I Didn’t Like

The main drawback to the Sifu B-Tab is the size of this unit.

It really is a big old beast, and it’s heavy too, it isn’t the most pocket friendly unit around.

It’s quite large and uncomfortable to hold in your hand when using it as a mod.

It only takes a single 18650 battery, so battery life is very limited. It does run down quite quickly, so you do need to carry around spare batteries with you or be near a power source that you can charge from.

The UD Sifu B-Tab isn’t the cheapest device on the market.

Final Review Verdict

Surprisingly, the more I have used the UD Sifu B-Tab, the more it has grown on me.

I didn’t like it at first, which was probably down to the size of the thing, however as time went on I have used it more and more.

It does provide a very handy all in one solution, and I have found myself taking it with me on trips away from home as it provides a handy building station, with the bonus of it being a solid backup mod.

The UD Sifu B-Tab functions very well as a building station, as well as a mod with some very comprehensive features, so for your investment you do get a very good package here.

As a building station it works as well as anything else available. When using it as a mod you have all the features you would expect to find from some of the more popular mods available.

Would I buy it again though if I lost or managed to break it? Maybe… If I could find a good price.

Pros

  • Great all in one build deck and mod solution
  • Solid build quality
  • Big and responsive fire button
  • Handy unit to take away on trips

One of the most recognizable names in the industry, the Goblin Mini RTA manufactured by UD has undergone its third revision and is now available in the form of the Goblin Mini V3.

ud goblin mini v3 reviewThis shapes up to be the best version yet, which given how good the performance of the original Goblin Mini and Goblin Mini V2 was, should make for a successful release by UD!

UD have taken some of the best features found on the , such as top filling, bottom pendulum airflow control and the small low profile height.

They have built on these even further, adding features such as juice flow control to stop leaks, two build decks that cater for single and dual coil builds with the largest amount of deck space yet and spit-back protection built into the chimney itself.

On paper, this looks like a world beater of a tank!

  • 510 threaded

Design and Build Quality

With the Goblin Mini V2 I was really impressed that the unit arrived free of machine oil, a first for UD and the products I have used. Thankfully, the Goblin Mini V3 follows suit.

All parts were nice and clean when I took the Goblin Mini V3 out of the box which I was pleased with. The Goblin Mini V3 can be fully stripped down to clean if need be.ud goblin mini v3 rta parts

Construction of the Goblin Mini V3 is excellent, especially for the low price you pay for the tank.

I think the overall look of the tank is an improvement over the Goblin Mini V2, and even though it is a small unit the glass tank section feels really solid and the stainless steel feels like it could take a beating!ud-goblin-mini-v3-reviewed

Not that I recommend testing that out.

One of the biggest improvements here is that the 510 threading for the drip tip now truly supports 510 threaded drip tips, with no wobble experienced. You have a stainless steel drip tip fitted as standard, and there is a delrin drip tip also included within the package too.

Top filling is still accessed by removing the top cap, however there is also a limited juice flow control you need to turn off before filling the 2ml capacity.how to fill ud goblin mini v3

This can be turned on and off by rotating the tank, it’s not a true juice flow control as such as you can’t really control the flow of juice to your build, but this does eliminate leaks when filling the Goblin Mini V3 up.

If you find the 2ml capacity is a little on the limited side, there is a 4ml tank extender that you can buy.

Goblin Mini V3 Build Deck

Two build deck options are available with the Goblin Mini V3, you have a two post velocity styled deck for dual coil builds, and a side Velocity deck for single coil builds.

ud goblin mini v3 rta decks

There is even more space available to build with now, and thicker diameter coils aren’t as much of an issue as they were with previous Goblin Mini’s.

I managed to fit in 3mm coils with relative ease, and the chimney is slightly wider to accommodate.

The move to a two post Velocity styled deck has made it even easier to build on, and this offers up a lot more options too.

The post screws trap coil leads down perfectly, with large post holes to slot the leads into, and it’s an incredibly easy tank to wick now too. Simply make sure your coils sit over the airflow holes and push your wick into the juice channels, and you are good to go.

Airflow

The pendulum styled bottom airflow that has been a mainstay of the Goblin Mini series is still here.

Ud have re-deigned this to include a metal cover on the base to cover the little tabs at the bottom and the sharp edges, which prevents the airflow system from damaging the top of your mod.UD Goblin Mini V3 airflow

The tabs are adjustable from either side, and offer you the pretty much the same level of airflow as found on the Goblin Mini V2, which ranges from a very restricted lung hit to a wide open lung hit with a lot of vapour.

How Does The UD Goblin Mini V3 Perform?

I rated the Goblin Mini V2 as one of the best RTA’s around for clouds, and the Goblin Mini V3 performs just as well on this front, this was one area on the Goblin Mini V2 that UD definitely didn’t need to improve upon!

In my opinion the flavour I was getting from my e-liquid, Twelve Monkeys Tropika, is as close to RDA performance as it gets, and I believe the single coil deck provides the best level of flavour out of the two.

If you enjoy your clouds, the Goblin Mini V3 can chuck out plenty of vapour.

This is a cloudy little beast of a tank, and it’s able to keep up at high wattage too. It draws in a lot of air for an extremely airy lung hit when fully open, I’ve found that keeping the airflow open about three quarters of the way still provides a lot of vapour and some very intense flavour!

Capacity is a small 2ml and the Goblin Mini V3 will require multiple refills throughout the day if you vape heavily.

The juice channels on this tank are very large indeed, in order to keep your wicks fed with e-juice constantly, which means that a lot of juice gets used quickly.

It does cope extremely well with high VG juice however, and this does wick amazingly well.

What I Liked

I love the fact that this time around, UD seem to have truly eradicated leaking issues and have produced a leak-proof tank.

I believe that the juice flow control and newly designed build deck goes a long way to helping prevent leaks, and this gets rid of one of the biggest issues encountered by the Goblin Mini V2.

Anti-spitback technology has been built into the chimney and this works very well, helping prevent any occurrences of spitback without impacting the flavour the Goblin Mini V3 provides.

The pendulum airflow system on the base could scratch up the area around the 510 connector on your mod with the Goblin Mini V2.

However with the Goblin Mini V3 this is now protected with a metal cover at the base, preventing the pendulum airflow from scratching your device.

As with the two previous Goblin tanks, the Goblin Mini V3 provides amazing flavour and big vapour too. That is one area UD didn’t need to improve upon from the V2, however the V3 performs as good as the V2 did, if not slightly better.

What I Didn’t Like

There isn’t a whole lot I didn’t like about the Goblin Mini V3, if I was to pick out one negative it would be that the 2ml capacity is very limited, but that can be rectified by buying the inexpensive 4ml extension tube.

Final Review Verdict

I was so impressed with the V3 that I really struggled to find anything negative about this tank, UD have definitely gone all out to fix faults that were found on the Goblin Mini V2 and have provided what is pretty much a perfect RTA.

What really impresses me is that UD seem to have gone back to the drawing board, looked at what worked and what didn’t with the Goblin Mini V2, and improved upon the faults that RTA had.

This, in my opinion, has resulted in one of the best RTA’s to come out this year.

The Goblin Mini V3 is an RTA that possesses it all, top level flavour, large airflow, dedicated dual and single coil building options, top filling and much, much more.

The build quality of the tank is faultless too and given how good this tank is, you should get plenty of usage from this top performing RTA!

Pros

  • The first truly leak proof Goblin tank!
  • Stellar flavour
  • Plenty of airflow options
  • Can chuck the clouds if you want it to
  • Two RBA decks for true single and dual coil compatibility
  • Delrin drip tip does a great job of keeping heat away from your lips
  • Juice flow control for leak free top filling
  • Spit-back protection built into the chimney
  • Outstanding wicking
  • Much easier to build and wick than ever before

Cons

  • 2ml capacity doesn’t long at all, and you need to pay extra for a 4ml extension tube
  • Erm nothing else!

This review is taking a closer look at the UD Anzu RDA. Before the review, let’s give you a little background on the company itself.

Youde Technology Co. Ltd is an electronic cigarette manufacturer based in Zhuhai City, South China. Many vapers will be more familiar with them known as UD. And most vapers will also know, UD have a massive catalogue of vaping products to their name.ud anzu rda

Everything ranging from CE4 clearomizers, Genesis style atomisers, RDA’s, RTA’s, coiling & wicking accessories, Mods, the list is endless.

What Can We Expect From the Anzu RDA by Youde?

Over the last 2-3 years they have focused predominantly on their Rebuildable Tank Atomizers, following their success with the original Goblin V1 RTA. However, UD have now jumped back into the RDA arena with their latest product, the Anzu RDA which features the ever popular 2 post velocity style deck and massive adjustable bottom & side airflow.

They say first impressions are generally correct and to be totally honest I wasn’t overly impressed with the Anzu when I first unboxed it. However, they also say never judge a book by its cover.

What’s In The Box

  • UD Anzu RDA
  • Stainless Steel Drip Tip
  • Delrin Conical Drip Tip
  • Spare Screws
  • Spare O-Rings
  • 510 drip tip adapter

UD Anzu Main Features

  • Velocity style posts with four 2.5mm post holes
  • Dual Coil design
  • Adjustable dual airflow design – Bottom and side
  • 510 threading connection
  • Adjustable 510 pin
  • 22mm overall diameter
  • 31mm High (without drip tip)
  • 102.6g in weight
  • Stainless Steel 510 drip tip
  • 12mm Cone Delrin Drip tip

Build Quality & Design

Aesthetically, the Anzu is not the most impressive looking atomizer on the market, although it is very streamlined and the quality & finish to the device is of a very good standard.UD Anzu RDA review

The Anzu RDA can be broken down into its individual parts and reassembled with absolutely no issues and all parts fitted clean and flush. Overall the Anzu feels very sturdy & robust.ud youde anzu rda parts

The deck of the Anzu uses the highly popular dual post Velocity style design with 2.5mm post holes which provide great diversity when it comes to build styles.

Deck posts are fitted with flat-head grub screws which is a great change from the very popular Hex style, which personally I feel tend to strip far too easily.ud anzu juice well

On the base of the build deck we have two large (3.0 x 6.5mm) air holes each with a raised lip to retain E-liquid in the deck and also prevent leaking into the air flow channels. The juice well is reasonably deep with plenty of room for your cotton sit.ud anzu rda on mod

The Anzu consists of three main components; the dual post build deck, the bottom airflow section and an upper section which incorporates an airflow control ring.

You have a choice of drip tips to use with the atomizer, either the pre-installed stainless steel tip or alternatively the wide bore Delrin drip tip. Of course, you can always use your own 510 drip tips by using the included adapter.

Airflow

The Anzu has an abundance of airflow! At the bottom of the outer sleeve, which UD refer to as the Stainless Steel Tank section, there are two sets of four large air holes which you can adjust to suit your desired vaping style by rotation the sleeve.ud anzu airflow

UD have also provided additional airflow at the top of the device with two sets of ten small air holes which can be fully adjusted by rotating the air flow control ring.

There is a slight problem with this top and bottom airflow arrangement, if you intend to only use the side airflow and close the bottom airflow down completely, the side airflow will not be directed at your coils.

Personally, this wasn’t an issue as I just preferred having the bottom airflow wide open and the side completely closed off as this seemed to provide a more flavoursome vape will still producing some respectable clouds.

Building on the deck of the Anzu is extremely easy thanks to the large space around the deck. Having flathead screws in the posts just seemed to make everything so much easier.

I tested a number of builds on the deck with no issue at all, finally settling with a dual two Framed Staple Coil setup with a final resistance of 0.2ohm. For the wicking, I use a generous amount of Cotton Candy.

How Did The ‘Anzu’ Perform?

My test e-liquid, as always, was Beard Vape No 5, which I have vaped for a long time and know exactly how it should taste & perform.

The first thing you notice when vaping the Anzu is how airy it is as there’s virtually no resistance!ud anzu rda coil

Performance wise, I was incredibly surprised, the Anzu RDA provides extremely good flavour. As mentioned, I found it performed best with the bottom airflow wide open and the side airflow closed completely off.

One thing I did note when trying the side airflow was that it did have a noticeable effect on flavour which became quite muted but the cloud production greatly increased.

Overall, the Anzu performed exceptionally well. There were no leaking issues, flavour was spot on and cloud production was respectable.

What I Liked

Being completely honest, RDA’s are not in my daily vape routine but I have to say that overall I was quite impressed with the UD Anzu.

Building on the deck is very easy thanks to the generous amount of space provided and airflow is more than ample.

The overall finish and quality of the atomizer is of a very good standard for a mass produced device.

The thing that really sold me on the UD Anzu though, was that it is a superb flavour RDA.

What I Didn’t Like

Initially, I wasn’t overly impressed with the aesthetics of the Anzu. Yes, it’s streamlined and feels very sturdy but it’s not the best looking device currently about.

I suppose my one and only real issue with this atomizer is the side airflow. As mentioned earlier, if you intend to only use the side airflow and close the bottom airflow down completely, then the side airflow is not directed at your coils.

This doesn’t appear to affect the performance greatly but it could play havoc with your OCD.

Final Review Verdict

Pros

  • Good price point
  • Build quality is very good
  • Velocity style deck and generous space allows for easy building
  • Exceptional flavour

Cons

  • Side airflow does not direct air to coils when bottom airflow is closed

Build Quality and Airflow

The UD Simba is manufactured from 304 Grade stainless steel and it also has a glass tank section, with a spare handily included in the box. The UD Simba is a top filling tank, so you screw off the top cap and you have two very large juice filling holes to fill your tank up with.UD Simba review

There is juice flow control, so you will want to rotate the tank to close this off when filling the tank, and open it back up again when in use.

One thing I did find out was that if I left the juice flow control open when I wasn’t using the tank, it would have a tendency to leak my whole tank of juice out, so it is best practice to shut it off when not in use!UD Simba tank airflow

The UD Simba can be used with pre built coil heads, and it can also be used with an RBA deck as well if you wish to build your own coils.

Switching between the two styles is easy, as the tank screws away nicely to allow you to switch between the different coil types that are on offer for this tank.Ud Simba Vape Tank review

The airflow with the UD Simba is a really interesting and unique system. You have a traditional airflow control ring found at the base, which you can adjust, however airflow is also controlled via rotating the drip tip, so you can finely tune the airflow even further.UD Simba Sub Ohm Tank

You can close down or open up the airflow further through the drip tip, and also adjust the airflow control ring at the same time. It opens up a lot of different possibilities.

How Does The UD Simba Tank Perform?

SS316 Ceramic Coil

The coil head that comes pre-installed with this tank is a dual coil set up, with SS316 stainless steel dual coils wicked with Japanese cotton and surrounded with ceramic.Youde (UD) Simba coils

The flavor with these coils really is outrageously good in the 40-50w range, a nice warm vape as well and there is plenty of vapour.

As a bonus, if you have a mod that supports temperature control with stainless steel 316, then this coil will be compatible.

Kanthal Ceramic Coil

Included in the box is a 0.5 ohm kanthal ceramic coil, and this coil head was even better for flavor!Youde Simba Kanthal coil

At 35-40w the flavor of my e liquid was incredibly smooth and tasty, again there was loads of vapor as well. With these coil heads having a ceramic coil, the coil heads last much longer than traditional cotton wicked coils, and are much more heat resistant too, preventing dry burning issues.

Single Coil RBA

Finally you also get a single coil RBA deck as well.

This is a single coil RBA with two posts and a ceramic single coil adapter on one side. It’s really easy to build on, part in thanks to the large post holes and the large juice channels on the side of the coil.UD Simba Review

If you are a beginner shouldn’t have too much of a problem with this. You can also red more about this with our guide to RBA’s for beginners.

This tank gets through a lot of juice!

The juice feed holes are huge on this tank and it wicks juice very quickly. That being said, it really is an exceptional wicker, I haven’t encountered a single wicking issue even with max VG liquids.

What I Liked

The lifespan of the ceramic wick coil heads is exceptional. These really do last and last, and mine still tastes as good as it did when I first got it out of the packet. This will certainly save you money on buying expensive pre built coil heads!

The inclusion of an RBA deck is a great move. It’s easy to use and will last even longer than the pre built heads, as you can utilize your own builds as and when you need to.

The performance of this tank really is excellent. The e juice flavor comes through crisp and pure, and you get loads of vapor to match as well. It’s become one of my favorite sub ohm tanks.

What I Didn’t Like

The airflow control. I found that when not in use, this had to be shut off at all times otherwise the Simba would dump out my tank of juice. It’s easy to forget to shut this off when not using it!

The tank is a really nice looker indeed, however I did feel like it felt a little lightweight and possibly wouldn’t survive being dropped! The finish was quite prone to picking up scratches when being carried around in my pocket.

The ceramic coil heads get through an awful lot of e juice, and quickly too. Even at 40w this tank did need refilling often!

Final UD Simba Ceramic Tank Review Verdict

Overall, the UD Simba tank is one of the best releases the company have come out with in my opinion.

There’s excellent flavor and vapor provided, and the ceramic wick coils last for ages before needing to be replaced. I’m a couple of weeks into using the ceramic wick coil and it’s still going strong!

The options to use an RBA deck and stock coils are great, as this makes the tank appeal to those that build and those that can’t or don’t wish to.

The build quality is great and the performance of this tank shows that you don’t need loads of power for top results.

Pros

  • Ceramic coil heads last for ages
  • Easy to swap out between pre built coil heads and the RBA deck
  • Easy to use top filling system
  • 4.5ml capacity
  • Really nice looking tank
  • Very competitive price
  • Excellent flavor
  • Big clouds

Cons

  • Although the tank looks nice, it feels lightweight
  • Leaks badly when the juice flow control is left open
  • Ceramic coil heads get through a lot of juice

The original Goblin RTA and its successor, the Goblin Mini were absolute smash hits for Youde and both units were two of the biggest selling rebuild-able tank atomizers in the industry, famed for their rebuild-able dripping atomizer level vape.ud goblin mini v2 review

The Goblin Mini built on the success of the Goblin RTA and sported a few revised features, such as an innovative pendulum airflow control system and the ability to build single coils.

What Can We Expect From The Goblin Mini V2 By UD?

The Goblin Mini V2 aims to offer the same excellent level of performance, but fix a couple of issues that were present with the V1, namely the bottom filling and wobbly drip tip.

Does the Goblin Mini V2 offer the full package? Let’s have a look…

Kit Contents

  • 1x Goblin Mini V2 RTA
  • 1x Stainless Steel drip tip
  • 1x Pyrex Glass drip tip
  • 1x Heat-sink and Pyrex drip tip adaptor
  • 1x Spare Pyrex Glass
  • 1x Ceramic single coil adaptor
  • 1x Spares kit
  • 1x Instruction leaflet

Key Features

  • Diameter: 22mm
  • Height (exclude drip tip & 510 thread): 28.6mm
  • Capacity: 3ml
  • Colour: Stainless Steel or Black
  • Material: Full SS 304 body and heat resistant Pyrex glass
  • 4 post build deck
  • Top filling
  • 510 drip tip adaptor
  • Pendulum airflow control
  • Adjustable 510 connector pin
  • Single or dual coil builds supported

Build Quality & Design

One thing that I didn’t like about the previous versions of the Goblin was that they always seemed to arrive coated in a very generous helping of machine oil. I inspected the Goblin Mini V2 on arrival and I couldn’t find a single speck of machine oil anywhere!

Still, I made sure I gave it a thorough clean before I began to use it to be on the safe side.

There’s two key changes to the build and design of the Goblin Mini V2, and although on paper they seem small, they make a massive difference to the Goblin Mini overall.

The first is that now there is a standard 510 drip tip fitting, so you can use your own drip tips without needing to use an adaptor. If you liked the old Pyrex glass drip tip, this is included in the package, and you need to make use of the included heat-sink to use it.

I found it to be extremely wobbly however and I nearly ended up losing the Pyrex drip tip for good on more than one occasion. Possibly the biggest change of all is that the pesky bottom fill screw has been done away with entirely, and in its place is an excellent top filling method!

The top cap is threaded smoothly and you can twist this off to reveal two filling ports, which allow you to fill on the move easily now. It’s a great addition and means you don’t have to worry about fiddling with/losing fill screws anymore!

Looks wise, it’s almost identical to the Goblin Mini, with a stainless steel and pyrex glass construction and now with a few ridges on the outside added, but it sports the same height give or take a mm (and excluding the drip tip), which is a really good thing, as the Goblin Mini is a great looking and very well constructed atomiser for the price.

Building the Youde Goblin Mini V2

At first glance, the build deck looks pretty much the same as it did with the Goblin Mini v1, with four posts and cross head screws, however it’s a little larger to give you a bit more room to play with. There is a ceramic single coil adaptor included if you prefer to build with a single coil.ud goblin mini v2 review

The post screws to me seemed smoother, I found them to be a little tight with the V1, but I was able to screw down and unscrew them easily. The juice channels are still huge and capable of wicking any percentage of VG, and you are still going to struggle to get a coil thicker than 2.5mm in there!

For my build, I used exactly the same build as I did with the original Goblin Mini, as this performed very well for me first time round and I wanted to compare performance side by side, I went for 7 wraps of 0.4mm kanthal around a 2.5mm screwdriver.

I again used my trusty Kendo Gold wick, with the wick tails tucked into the top of the juice channels, which prevents against leaking I find with the Goblin Mini.

How does the Youde Goblin Mini V2 Perform?

One thing the Goblin tanks have always been superb at is performance and the Goblin Mini V2 offers the same premium performance on the flavour and cloud front. It performs just as well as the Goblin Mini did- and that in my opinion was one of the best performing tanks of all time.

The range of airflow options means it appeals to lung hitters and mouth to lung hitters alike, and if you love your clouds you will love this tank, as it has deceptively huge airflow when fully open. Flavour is absolutely excellent (from my Wick Liquor Contra juice) and on par with an RDA, which very few other tanks can offer.

Capacity of the Goblin Mini V2 is 3ml and you will get through this quickly, as due to the large size of the juice channels this drinks juice like no tomorrow. Those large juice channels however do enable the V2 to wick any juice mix ratio you can think of!

Overall, the Mini V2 performs just as well as an RDA does, with the convenience of a tank. It is one of the best tanks out there in my opinion when it comes to flavour and clouds, and with the ability to single as well as dual coil, lung hitters and mouth to lung vapers are catered for with this superb little atomiser.

Airflow

The airflow is pretty much exactly the same as on the original Goblin Mini, the same airflow size is used and there is still a pendulum airflow control present, the only change is that you can now adjust the airflow from either side, as there is a tab on either side of the Goblin Mini v2 now. ud goblin mini v2 review

The airflow can be opened right up for an airy lung hit and big clouds, or closed right down if you use a single coil build and mouth to lung.

What I like

I love the way the Goblin Mini V2 performs. One thing I have always relied on with the Goblin tanks is their excellent performance, on the flavour and cloud front, and the Goblin Mini V2 is no different. I know I can pick it up, fill it with my favourite e liquid, and just kick back and enjoy it every time.

The size and looks of the Goblin Mini V2 are a big plus point for me. I love the small size and minimalist looks, I think it’s a great looking tank that looks good on anything I put it on.

Top filling is a huge inclusion. I really disliked the bottom fill screw with the Goblin Mini but the top filling method present on the Goblin Mini V2 really is outstanding and offers a real hassle free method of filling the tank.

The pendulum airflow system is loved and hated by many, personally I’m a fan. I really like the fact you can finely adjust the airflow to suit your own needs.

What I dislike

I’m not a huge fan of stainless steel drip tips, so the inclusion of the Pyrex version is great. You have to use the included heat-sink adaptor in order to use the Pyrex glass drip tip, and unfortunately the Pyrex drip tip is wobblier than ever before when placed in the adaptor!

Thankfully you can do away with the adaptor and just use your own drip tips.

The size of the build deck has been increased ever so slightly, but it still offers a very limited space to build. You are restricted to coils of no more than 2.5mm in diameter, and if you like nice and big coils, such as Clapton coils, you will really struggle to fit these in.

Final Review Verdict

The Goblin Mini V2 really does offer the total package, if you are looking for excellent flavour then you will find it here, if you want big clouds, the Goblin Mini V2 can definitely produce them!

The original Goblin Mini was an outstanding atomizer that had a couple of minor problems, it’s great to see these have been rectified with the Goblin Mini V2. The inclusion of an excellent top filling system and the ability to now use your own drip tips have just added the finishing touches to a superb product.

If you want an atomiser that offers the convenience of a tank, but the performance of an RDA, then look no further than the Goblin Mini V2. It’s priced extremely competitively and the performance of it is well worth double or even triple the price tag!

Pros

  • RDA level performance on clouds and flavour
  • Excellent top filling system
  • 510 drip tip fitting means you can use your own drip tips now
  • Can use with single coil builds
  • Can mouth to lung or lung hit depending on your preference and build
  • Heat-sink adaptor included to reduce heat
  • Very small form factor
  • Sports the best machining out of any version of the Goblin so far
  • Premium performance at a budget price
  • Has wicked any juice mix ratio I have used

Cons

  • The glass drip tip is still extremely wobbly when used in conjunction with the heat-sink adaptor
  • It’s a very thirsty tank and requires constant refilling when chain vaping
  • Still limited space to build

UD (also know as Youde), are a Chinese manufacturer that have made some great products in the past, such as the Bellus and Goblin Mini, both of which gained high praise from vapers around the world. They are also know for manufacturing vaping accessories and wire for the DIY vapers.

What Can We Expect From The UD Balrog?

The Balrog is UD’s first step into the vape mod market and a mod they are marketing to “Fit All Expectations”. With temp control capability they have certainly covered the bases and all looks good but does the Balrog offer something improved from the multitude of vape mods on the market?UD Balrog 70 TC Mod Review

Build Quality and Design

Design

The UD Balrog is a tiny box mod. OK, not on the level of the Council of Vapor Mini Volt but still small enough to sit snugly in the palm of the hand and has more in the way of features and functions.

One of the first things I noticed with the mod – and something I’ve never seen before – was a ring attached to the top of the device. This contains (or sits around) 510 threading and features cotton that acts as an absorbing material for any stray e-liquid. I guess in principle the idea is a good one to catch any slight leaks from the tank.Youde Balrog Review

I had an immediate problem which you could probably put down to user error. I couldn’t get the ring off the mod. The instructions hint that it comes off by way off an image and there is spare absorbing cotton in the kit so it is supposed to come off.

I only tried by hand though, maybe getting some kind of tool to help will do the trick?

If you can’t get it off and the cotton does do it’s job in soaking up any excess e juice / condensation then I can imagine this won’t look to pretty in a short space of time.

Sitting alongside on the top of the mod is a small hole which is where you would connect you lanyard if you like hanging your mod around your neck. A little wasted on me but the option is there and works as it should.UD Balrog 70 Review

I do really like the purlicue ergonomic button that UD have opted for here. What’s a purlicue button I hear you ask?!

Good question…. I looked this up and this is what I could find:

Purlicue meaning:
“Distance between the thumb and forefinger”
“A flourish in writing; also, any trifle or oddity”

Clearer? Great stuff… If you can explain further to me in the comments below it would be appreciated 🙂

Whatever UD have decided to call it, the button has a nice and satisfying click to it and is as sold a power button you are likely to see. If you have the button facing the palm it activates with a simple squeeze making it a pleasure to use.

The OLED display screen is below the power button on the side of the mod and set below the screen are the two metal function buttons and micro USB port.UD Balrog 70 TC Mod Review

The OLED screen is small, although I have just been using the Innokin Cortex for a couple of weeks (Large OLED Screen), but it is bright and clear.UD Balrog 70 Review

Lastly is the magnetic battery cover. It snaps into place firmly and the four batteries assure this cover isn’t going to come off by accident any time soon.UD Balrog 70 TC Mod Review

Build Quality

The mod casing is made up of a metallic material, possibly stainless steel or zinc alloy. I can’t honestly tell you what but what I can say is that it created a nicely weighted mod that doesn’t feel flimsy in any way.

All the buttons feel solid and there is zero rattle.

Overall the Balrog temp control mod has superb build quality. Feels like it could take a bit of heavy use in it’s stride.

How Does The UD Balrog TC Mod Perform?

As would be expected from a temp control mod such as the Balrog there are a number of features and functions to familiarize yourself with.

Functions

  • On/Off: Click button 5 times in quick succession
  • System Menu: Click power button quickly 3 times. Menu will appear, press function buttons to scroll through the settings and power button to make your selection. The following options will be available:
  • TC Mode -> Ni200 & Ti -> Once selected you will then be given the option of ºC or ºF.
  • Power (Wattage) Mode
  • System -> Sub menu options allow you to set the screen display – Sensitivity (Adjust Temperature sensitivity) – puff count
  • Pressing power button and bottom function button locks device
  • When switching Coil to TC mode: Press +/- at the same time to allow coils to be recognized. Coils must be room temperature.

The function buttons on the mod I received did not have ‘+’ / ‘-‘ labelled on the buttons, maybe this is a sample I received for review. Not a huge deal but something to keep in mind as the instructions refer to these for functionality.

Balrog 3ml Tank

UD Balrog 70 TC Mod ReviewThe Balrog tank has a 3ml capacity, maybe not enough for some vapers but the tank itself has a very small form factor and a nice clean looking deign.

The top filling design is unique in that the refill holes are located to the side once you remove the top piece. There wasn’t any benefit from the holes being located on the side, at least not for me. UD Balrog 70 TC Mod Review

It was still simple to fill but I had to mop up a small amount of e liquid spillage that had found it’s way down the sill on the inside of the tank.UD Balrog 70 TC Mod Review

The drip tip that is installed on the tank has a narrow bore hole that is suited to vapers that prefer a tighter draw making it possible to mouth to lung vape.

There is also a wider bore drip tip included for those of you that prefer a bigger direct lung hit.

Kanthal Coil Performance – 0.5ohm coilUD Balrog 70 TC Mod Review

The 0.5ohm Kanthal coils are recommended to work within th 20-38W boundaries. I filled with vape juice, waited 5 minutes and set the Balrog to Power Mode at 24W. The flavor was just OK and came across a touch muted yet still a decent amount of vapor being produced.

I ramped things up gradually going to 28W – 34W – 38W and a few in between. The warmth of the vape increased as would be expected but the flavor was still average for me.

Ni200 0.15oHM Coil

Working with the Ni200 coil in temp control I hoped for better flavor coming through but it just wasn’t happening. I even left it a day and ensured it wasn’t a case of vapers tongue but the flavor still wasn’t great for me unfortunately.

Not sure what happened with the above coils not performing and it was pretty disappointing considering UD’s track record in tanks.

I had been vaping the Aspire Cleito and Innokin iSub S in the days following up-to this review and I even tested the same juice in all three tanks. They results compared to the Balrog tank were night and day when it came to the flavor produced.UD Balrog 70 Review

At the moment the temp control is compatible with Nickel and Titanium. Can’t be used with Stainless Steel as things stand.

What I like

The actual Balrog mod is excellent in terms of build quality and the small form factor. It sits comfortably in the hand and is a very portable device with plenty of power. The new purlicue button, when it faces the palm, makes it a pleasure to use and vape with.

Just a slight squeeze of the mod will activate the power button.

The replaceable 18650 battery is a plus for many vapers as well.

The Balrog also looks like the firmware is upgrade-able which is a definite plus.

What I Dislike

The Balrog tank. I just didn’t get on well with it or more specifically get on with the coils. In terms of the build quality and size the tank itself it’s actually good.

Maybe I got a couple of bum coils? It’s possible, I just found compared to what I have been using recently that the flavor was disappointing.

The temp control menu system. After using the Cortex TC mod from Innokin for 2 weeks prior to this review I found the Balrog just seemed overly complicated. I guess this is down to the new board that Innokin are using but for those new to temp control the Balrog isn’t exactly a pick up and play type of e cig mod.

That brings me onto the instructions included. They aren’t really set out that well for new users in mind, don’t really give anything but bare bones information  and there are silly mistakes such as saying the Balrog is 70W on one page and 60W on the next.

I know it may be a small thing but there’s no excuse for it nowadays considering the USA is likely the biggest market they are going for.

There is also zero safety guidance for best use of a mod with a replaceable battery.

Supplied USB cable doesn’t charge the battery on my mod. I assume this is for firmware updates only. The instructions don’t give any information.

Final UD Balrog Review Verdict

The Balrog TC mod from UD is definitely a game of two halves for me. The mod itself I really liked for various reasons, I think this is a great little device. But the flavor produced from the Balrog tank not so much, I found it average.

If you are reading this and looking for a small, well built mod for use with Kanthal coils in wattage mode then it’s a great option and I will continue using this but with a different sub ohm tank.

Pro’s

  • Superb build quality
  • Mod is well designed and fits well in the hand
  • Purlicue button is well designed for an improved user experience
  • Replaceable 18650 battery
  • Firmware can be upgraded in the future on the device

Con’s

  • Flavor from the Balrog tank and coils was just OK
  • Instruction manual needs improving and making clearer, along with improved safety guidance.
  • TC does not support Stainless Steel

We all know that Youde provide some outstanding budget genuine re-buildable tank atomisers, and they are responsible for manufacturing two of the most highly rated and best selling RTA’s of all time in the form of the Youde Goblin and the Youde Goblin Mini. youde bellus review

Not to mention some outstanding re-buildable dripping atomisers such as the Youde Godzilla and a very good sub ohm clearomiser in the form of the Youde Zephyrus.

What Can We Expect From The Bellus RTA By Youde (UD)

The Youde Bellus is the next ‘evolution’ in re-buildable tank atomisers from Youde, with a 5ml capacity, airflow featuring a massive 32 airflow holes, a spiral airflow design, a non leak design and the premise that the Bellus will follow in the footsteps of the Goblin by offering RDA level flavour and clouds.

It can also be filled top and bottom, and be used in single as well as dual coil mode, and it able to be filled from both the top and bottom.

I’m a longstanding Youde fan and always looking forward to using their products, as I still use their atomisers daily, the Bellus has got me really excited so lets see if the excitement is worth it!

Kit Contents

It’s packaged almost identically to the Zephyrus, in a clamshell plastic box, inside this package you will get-

  • Youde Bellus RTA with spiralled drip tip
  • Replacement silicon insulator
  • Replacement glass tank section
  • Red silicon adaptor
  • 4 black O-rings
  • Silicon drip tip o-ring
  • Red Silicon seal ring
  • Replacement post screws
  • 2 pre built 26AWG Kanthal A1 coils
  • Single coil adaptor
  • Japanese Cotton Pad

Youde Bellus Quality, Build & Looks

If you are looking for a rebuildable tank that is incredibly easy to set up then look no further than the Youde Bellus. The deck has two posts, with massive post holes, an airflow hole to one side, huge juice channels to wick max VG and plenty of space to build on.

bellus rta by udIf you are more comfortable building using a single coil, then a single coil adaptor is included, just ensure that you place this to the opposite end of the airflow hole.

A bonus was that this was the first re-buildable I have ever got from Youde that has not had a single trace of machine oil that I could find, even after stripping the Bellus right down, however I still thoroughly cleaned it to be on the safe side.youde bellus parts

Everything comes apart on the Youde Bellus and the threading is as smooth as anything out there. To access the build deck, you simply unscrew the bottom ring and pop the deck out from the bottom- you can also refill from the bottom using this method (which I would highly recommend over top filling) and access the build deck without losing any of your juice.bellus rta parts

It’s amazingly simple to set up, and you even have two pre built coils as well as Japanese Cotton to get you going.

Using the included 26AWG Kanthal A1 prebuilt coils meant that I had the Youde Bellus set up in under 5 minutes. I simply slotted the coils in at either side of the deck, tightened down the screws, snipped off the excess wire, dry burned, raised and centred the coils then measured my resistance. This read at a stable 0.35ohm.

I then wicked with a generous amount of Japanese Cotton, but still ensured that the wick could move if I gave it a tug at either end of the wick, cut off the excess cotton, juiced the wick and made sure that the wick tails were resting in the juice channels.bellus rta deck

I found that this meant I got no dry hits, the Bellus was able to wick max VG and no leaks were experienced when carrying it around!

To fill the Youde Bellus you can fill it from either the top or the bottom. Bottom filling takes a little longer but it is my preferred method with this tank as I have found that I get some major juice leakage from the airflow holes if I fill from the top.Youde Bellus rta top fill

To bottom fill, you unscrew the Bellus, invert the tank, unscrew the bottom ring, remove the build deck and fill through the fill ports. I haven’t experienced a leak through this method.

Top filling on the other hand, seems to leave me covered in juice that leaks out of the airflow holes, even when inverting the tank after with the airflow closed. To top fill you unscrew the top cap and fill through either of the two fill ports. I wouldn’t recommend top filling though due to the amount of leakage!

Key Features

  • 5ml Capacity
  • Airflow with 32 airholes
  • Spiral airflow design
  • 304 Stainless Steel
  • 510 Thread
  • Glass Tank is compatible with Goblin Mini RTA.
  • New non leak airflow design.
  • Direct blow coils, extreme vapour production.
  • 22mm diameter
  • 45.5mm Height without 610 thread and drip tip
  • Includes 2x 26ga KA1 Pre Built Coils

Airflow

The airflow control ring sports a total of 32 air holes, split into two lots of 16 on each side. Underneath this, there is large airflow hole on either side of the tank, and rotating the airflow control ring can close these down or open them up.

There’s a handy dot marker present at the top of the ring so a quick glance at this will tell you the positioning of the airflow control. I did find the airflow control ring to be a little loose, and there were times where I took the Youde Bellus out of my pocket and the airflow setting was not where I had previously set it.

Its also very noisy, with a loud whooshing noise present with every inhale, that some users may not be comfortable with. Even closing the airflow down doesn’t seem to make much difference.

Overall, this is one airy tank, the Youde Bellus sports some huge airflow to satisfy your cloud chasing needs!

How Does The Youde Bellus RTA perform?

Youde are known for providing top performing atomisers and the Bellus is no exception! The flavour and clouds from this tank have both been astonishing and as good as the Goblin and Goblin Mini, this is really outstanding dripper level stuff.

Flavour is absolutely top notch with a very flavourful vape coming from all my favourite juices. Clouds were as good as it gets for a re-buildable tank, with huge rolling masses of fog produced every time!

Its able to wick max VG without any trouble, there are huge juice channels present and as long as you have wick in the juice channels, you’ll find the Bellus is able to keep up even chain vaping at high wattage. It does however get quite hot when vaping at over 40w, and it is thirsty too with the 5ml capacity being drained in no time at all!

Final Youde Bellus Review Verdict

Youde are known for their rebuildable atomisers to provide outrageously good flavour and clouds, and the Bellus is no exception!

The flavour and cloud production is hugely impressive, and coupled with the fact that it is available cheaply, has an incredibly easy two post set up as well as being very easy to wick, great build quality and some huge airflow, this is an atomiser I would recommend to anyone.

The only downsides to this are that this is one noisy unit, the AFC ring is a little on the loose side, it gets hot when chain vaping and a major negative for me is that it always seems to leak through the airflow holes when you top fill it. However, the positives mentioned above far outweigh these negatives, and the Youde Bellus is a real top performer, on the level of the Goblin Mini in my eyes.

The Good

  • Usual outstanding vapour and cloud performance as expected from Youde!
  • One of the easiest dual coil atomisers you are likely to build on
  • Can be used in single or dual coil mode
  • Huge 5ml capacity
  • Solid build quality
  • No machine oil present
  • Huge amount of spares included
  • Can be top or bottom filled
  • As long as you don’t fill from the top, and put wick in the juice channels, this thing doesn’t leak!

The Not So Good

  • I’ve found no way to fill this from the top that avoids leaking from the airflow holes
  • Airflow control ring is very light and moves quite freely
  • It’s very noisy!
  • Gets very hot when chain vaping at over 40w
