The Wotofo Profile X is a leak-proof RTA it has top filling, a smooth honeycomb airflow and features a new type of build deck.

Wotofo is based in Shenzhen, China. They have produced some fine devices in the past like Mdura Pro or the MDura Mini Kit. By far their biggest success is their Profile range of toppers like the Profile PS Dual Mesh RDA, Profile M RTA and the Profile RDTA.

What Can We Expect from the Wotofo Profile X RTA?

For those that don’t know RTA stands for Re-buildable Tank Atomiser!

This RTA has a spacious combination deck that will allow the use of either mesh strips or single/dual wire coils.

The Profile X features a ¼ turn fill cap and is a leakproof design. The removable top airflow ring is honeycombed which helps to produce a smooth draw with better flavour.

Wotofo has produced the Profile X in 6 colourful designs that include: Black, Stainless Steel, Rainbow, Gun Metal, Blue and Gold!

The Profile X RTA was sent directly to us for review by Wotofo!

And as always my thoughts and views are my own, after a considerable testing period.

Design and Build Quality

I was sent the standard Gun Metal version.

It came in a card box with a plastic lid.

Wotofo have included a good amount of extras under the foam tray that includes:- A spare glass tank, Cotton, O-rings and Spare screws, Screwdriver and Mesh bending post, 3 Mesh strips, and 2 Ni80 Framed Staple Clapton round coils.

The exterior of the Profile X RTA measures in with an overall height of 43.7mm, with a base diameter of 28mm, this includes the mouthpiece and connection pin.

My standard tank came installed with a 5ml glass tank which I’ve since changed for the 8ml that is included in the box.

The Profile X breaks down into 5 main parts 6 if you include the airflow ring. The RTA is constructed of Stainless Steel, Pyrex and Resin.

Starting at the top

The Profile X RTA has a low-profile resin 810 mouthpiece.

The stainless steel fill cap has a ¼ turn, which makes the RTA easy to fill.

There are 2 embedded O-rings, 1 to help keep the mouthpiece in place and on the reverse side for leak prevention around the inside of the cap!

This tank’s centre section is all one piece and incorporates 2 large kidney-shaped fill ports under the cap.

The tank has a honeycomb airflow ring which is removable for easy cleaning.

When removed the ring reveals a slot airflow that has a downward directional angle!

Looking at the chimney section it seems to be rather short, but this isn’t really the case as the main shaft of the chimney is hidden behind the adjustable airflow section!

The coil cover has been designed with 2 large liquid intake slots and the barrel has been printed with the Wotofo logo.

Looking into the coil cover you will see that it has some doming which helps to draw liquid and condensation back down to the coil and cotton. You will also see inside the reverse end of the airflow. This section also has well-turned threading to connect the base!

Build Deck

Unscrewing the base from the main body reveals the build deck, which has 2 wire clamps operated by a Philips-headed screw for each clamp. Behind the clamp screw are 2 other screws, these operate the postless round wire slots.

This RTA has a spring-loaded German peek insulator. Looking into the slots of this peek insulator, you will see the slots for your wire tails and at each end of the insulator is a slot for your cotton tails!

On the bottom of the base, it has been printed with all the normal safety and manufacturing marks, along with a non-adjustable gold-plated contact pin.

The kit comes with the following coils:

• 2 x Ni80 Framed Staple Clapton wire coils 0.33Ω 40-55W
• 1 x NexMesh Chill Kanthal A1 mesh element 0.15Ω 60-80W
• 1x NexMesh Turbo Kanthal A1 mesh element 0.13Ω 60-80W
• 1x NexMesh Extreme Kanthal A1 mesh element 0.16Ω 60-80W

The tank also comes with the choice of Pyrex tank 5ml or 8ml, if you have purchased the TPD version of the RTA it will come with a 2ml liquid capacity!

Wotofo Profile X RTA Quick Start Guide

For this example I will be using the NexMesh 0.15 mesh strip called “Chill” and because of my Nickel allergy, I will be switching to a pair of my own DIY Kanthal wire coils.

For liquid, I will be filling the Profile X with EJuice Warehouse “Apple Burst”

Installing Mesh

• Bend the Mesh strip using the included Mesh tool and insert it into the clamps. Tighten them down, but don’t over-tighten as you may damage the mesh strip!
• Insert the 6mm cotton shoelace that is included in the box, under the Mesh. Fluff, trim and tuck the cotton tails into the cotton slots.
• Dampen the cotton and mesh with e-liquid and reassemble the tank.
• Fill the RTA with your E-liquid – and enjoy a great vape.

Installing Round Wire Coils

To build your deck with round wire coils!

I assume you have a basic understanding of how to create a coil if not please take a look here.

To place round wire coils into the deck you will need to unscrew the post screws behind the mesh screws. The wire tails are inserted into the wire slots visible through the German peek insulator, I would suggest you heat and scrape the coils so they heat up evenly!

Then treat the build as above by inserting your cotton, fluffing, trimming and tucking and then dampening the cotton before reassembling the RTA.

*Tip – with both methods don’t allow the cotton to touch the deck thread! Or you won’t be able to screw the tank back together!

How Does the Profile X RTA Perform?

I think I have said in the past I love using RTA’s and by extension RDA’s for the sheer quality of vapour and flavour produced also let not forget the cost effectiveness of using DIY coils and mesh strips.

So to start with, I set the Profile X RTA up with a pair of 24g Kanthal round coils built on a 3.5mm rod they totalled almost 0.2Ω.

I’m using my Hellvape Hell200 mod set first at 30W to bed the coils in for a few toots and then I took the power up to 60W in increments of 5W.

I set the airflow to approximately ½ which is my own preference. I received a decent flavour with a nice warm vapour production.

I’ve used this setup for over a week without experiencing any leaks or other problems!

After a week of using DIY coils, I switched to use one of the NexMesh strips that came with the kit – I used the one they call “Chill”.

Like for my DIY coils I took it easy for a few puffs and bedded the mesh in at 30W, again in 5W increments I worked the power up to first 60W and then to 80W.

This time I opened the airflow fully and I received a slightly muted flavour at 80W but the vapour production was very cloudy.

I have now settled on 65W with a ¾ open airflow, which gives me the best flavour with a decent vapour production for my everyday vape.

Pros

• Great quality and design
• Good flavour
• Great vapour production
• Easy to build
• Very easy to fill and maintain

Cons

• I have no concerns with the Profile X RTA

Final Verdict

This is a very easy-to-build RTA, the combination deck has plenty of room to fiddle with your coils, in fact I class it as a bonus in being able to use either mesh or DIY coils.

This is also a very easy-to-maintain RTA, changing cotton and filling it with e-liquid is really very simple with the ¼ turn cap.

For me, the Profile X RTA gave me a smooth draw with a good flavour and great vapour production.

I’d recommend this RTA to those with experience in building or to those that want to give building a go!

You’d think that after more than 2 weeks of testing and general use of the Profile X RTA, I would have been able to find a flaw or two, the truth is I didn’t find anything that would put me off buying this RTA again!

So What Can We Expect From the Wotofo Gear V2 RTA?

I like using RTA’s almost as much as I love using RDA’s, I tend to get nearly the same vapour and flavour quality as I do from an RDA, with the added bonus of a liquid tank.

RTA’s can be great for everyday vaping!

The Gear V2 is one the newest RTA’s produced by Wotofo!

It is fairly small in height, it holds a single coil and has a 24mm diameter.

This is a top fill tank.

This RTA has a fairly decent liquid capacity, overall the Gear V2 does remind me quite a lot of a pod tank with its plastic casing and non-removable mouthpiece.

Wotofo have released the Gear V2 RTA in 6 colours!

This RTA was sent to me directly by Wotofo for the purpose of review.

Design and Build Quality

I was sent the standard 3.5ml Stainless Steel version of the Gear V2 with an almost clear tank, so my review is based on this!

As always with Wotofo they include extras under the foam tray to get you started.

This version is nothing like the original Gear RTA; I never owned the original but research has shown me they have completely redesigned the V2.

While the V2 build deck and chimney are made of Stainless Steel the cap and barrel are made of a PCTG plastic, also the mouthpiece and cap are one part!

The RTA has an airflow that is non-adjustable, leaving no room for customisation by the user basically what you see is what you get!I have got to give Wotofo credit for the clean look of the Gear V2 from a manufacturing point of view it has been put together well. As for the design however I can’t help but feel they have gone down the easy cheap route!

Wotofo Gear V2 RTA – Overview

Measuring in at approximately 38.5mm tall this includes the drip tip and connection pin. The RTA has a tank diameter of 24mm and is made of PCTG and Stainless Steel.

The Gear V2 only has 3 parts that are easily cleaned by running them under a tap!

Wotofo Gear V2 – Component Parts

From the top, the moulded cap screws on to the tank section via the top part of the metal chimney section.

The cap includes a moulded fixed mouthpiece which is fairly wide at 10mm but does taper down internally to around 5mm, the cap itself measures around 20mm.

The tank section has a liquid capacity of 3.5ml for the standard version, a 2ml version is available for TPD compliance.

The top of the tank has 3 liquid fill slots and 2 O-rings to stop leaks from the cap.

With a plastic tank that has an internal lined striation pattern, the tank also holds the imbedded metal coil cover and chimney sections with “GEAR” printed as advertising.

Both the cap and build deck both screw to either end of the metal chimney section, with metal to metal threading.

Personally I feel this is a good thing or I’d be worried about the threads being stripped!

Wotofo Gear V2 RTA – Base/Build Deck

On at the bottom of the base you will see all the normal expected information!

The RDA has a gold plated 510 connection pin.

The connection threading while shallow has been turned well. Although the 510 pin sticks out enough, I personally wouldn’t use this RTA with a hybrid connection!

The airflow slots for this RTA are non-adjustable, and are seated in a concave within the body of the base with a knurled ring above for decoration.

Viewed from above the knurled ring has a channel that holds an O-ring; the plastic tank sits upon this ring to eliminate leaks from the tank base.

The deck posts are chunky blocks with flat head screws to either side, the wire is trapped under the screws!

Each side of the deck has a slot for your cotton tails.

Looking carefully at the bottom of the deck you will see the threading that the coil cover screws on to!

While I personally don’t like the design of the Gear V2 RTA, it is OK with a good manufacturing quality!

How Does the Wotofo Gear V2 RTA Perform?

I am going to use the Gear V2 on my Ehpro Cold Steel 100, with a spaced DIY 24g Kanthal coil created on a 3mm bit!

The e-liquid I am using is from Kwik Vape “Caramel & Vanilla Latte”, please see my opinion at the end of this review!

How to prepare the Wotofo Gear V2 RTA for use!

Building your Deck

Make your coil in the normal way or use one of the pair that comes with the kit!

• Insert the coil and tighten down the post screws; trap the wire beneath the screw and clip the tails as close as you can to the post screws.
• Pulse and strum the coil to get rid of any heat spots. Check for any short circuits and rectify if necessary.
• Load your cotton into the coil – comb trim and tuck the cotton into the deck!
• Dampen the coil and cotton with e-liquid to get things started.
• Screw the tank on to the deck.
• Remove the top cap and fill with E-liquid

How Does The Wotofo Gear V2 RTA Perform?

Building the Gear V2 is easy – I suggest holding the coil in place while screwing down the post screws.

My single Kanthal 24g 5 wrap coil came out at around 0.5Ω!

I have been using wattages from 20 to 50W depending on my mood, there is no getting away with it this is a direct to lung RTA!

This is also very airy RTA due to not being able to restrict the airflow; which sad to say doesn’t fit my style. I prefer a much more restricted DTL vape!

Seating the coil nearer to the internal airflow I have found does temper the airflow a little, but nowhere near enough for me to enjoy the vape from this one.

I however did get a great deal of vapour from this at 35/50W.

Flavour

Was fairly good, not disappointed here with that! I did feel if I had been able to turn the airflow down this would have been a right old flavour banger!

In the time I have been testing the Gear V2 RTA I haven’t had any leaks, but I have noticed some condensation forming within the airflow slots.

I guess customisation is something I look for with most tanks!

Opening the box – disappointment hit finding the airflow wasn’t adjustable and mouthpiece was not replaceable. Although the mouthpiece is quite comfortable in the mouth!

KV Caramel & Vanilla Latte, I love a good coffee vape it’s been percolated in collaboration with Riot Squad, and is a delicious creamy vanilla coffee latté with a hint of sweet caramel. I did let this liquid steep for a couple of days after I put my nic shot in, after steeping I was able to taste every note of flavour, yum – pass the donuts please lol.

Wotofo Gear V2 RTA – Final Review Verdict

I’m not going to pull any punches here – this is not an ideal RTA for me!

I don’t feel that justice has been served to the original Gear RTA; which had a great name for function!

The airflow being non-adjustable is a big downer for me!

It’s a shame because I reckon this could have been a real flavour banger had it been more customisable!

While the tank is good to look at, in my opinion though it has been spoilt by the PCTG material which makes this RTA look more like a pod tank!

Would I recommend the Wotofo Gear V2 RTA?

This might be an excellent RTA deck for beginners to learn how to put a coil in an RTA.

Would I buy this RTA again due loss or damage?

No not really, while the presentation of the Wotofo Gear V2 is fine, I prefer a much tighter DTL vape than this RTA can supply me!

Wotofo Recurve V2 RDA Overview

I think Wotofo must know I like a bit of bling because I received the RDA in Gold.

It measures in at 35.5mm tall including the mouthpiece, and has a diameter of 24.6mm. The RDA is made of Stainless Steel and the 810 mouthpiece is made from Delrin.

As I said the Recurve V2 comes with a decent amount of extras; cotton, coils, replacement post screws, BF pin, O-rings.

Along with an Allen key, screw driver and a coil building tool!

The Recurve V2 will dismantle into 5 parts; 8 parts if you take into account the 510 connection pin and the BF (Squonk) pin and also the airflow adaptors!

Wotofo Recurve V2 RDA Airflow Ring

Made of Stainless Steel the airflow/cap ring has flat top for seating the mouthpiece, the top edge of the cap is bevelled and is easy to turn within the barrel.

The 810 mouthpiece is made of Delrin and sits flush on the cap; it is held tightly in position by an embedded O-ring within the cap.

The airflow ring has projected fins for the different airflow options and they are operated by turning the cap in the barrel.

Wotofo Recurve V2 RDA Barrel

Again made of stainless steel, Wotofo have given us 3 slots on each side of the barrel as an external airflow.

The shape of the barrel is consistent with its predecessor in that it has a slight curve to it, as advertising Wotofo have engraved the word “Recurve” on the front side of the barrel.

Taking a look inside the barrel you will see that the Recurve V2 has projections directly under the airflow slots these will lock into place with the build deck, so the barrel doesn’t move while turning the airflow!

Wotofo Recurve V2 RDA Base and Build Deck

The base of the deck has a lot of info on it; including design and safety marks.

The RDA comes with a standard gold plated 510 connection pin which as I said can be swapped for the BF (Squonk) pin; the 510 connection threading has been turned well!

The sides of the base have 2 small cut outs to seat and lock the barrel in place, along with 2 O-rings that have been seated around the sides of the base for a firm leak proof placement of the barrel.

In between the 2 O-rings you will see 2 post screws on either side of the barrel

The build deck is completely different to that of its predecessor, it is a flat postless design that has a slight depression to it so that the liquid will find the 2 wide cotton slots either side of the deck. The liquid well is quite deep and will hold up to 2ml of liquid and cotton.

The positive wire slots each have a peek insulator and this deck will take single coils up to 5mm and dual coils up to 3mm.

You will note that the Recurve V2 comes with 2 different internal airflow adaptors for single or dual coils. These sit over your coil/s and peg into the two holes either side of the wire slots to hold them in place. The adaptors have a honeycomb style of airflow.

The Recurve V2 RDA has a great quality and design, it has been thought out well. As a bonus I didn’t find any machine oil within the deck when I first opened the kit lol.

How Does the Wotofo Recurve V2 RDA Perform?

For this review I will be using the Recurve V2 on my VooPoo Alpha Zip, and because of my allergy to Ni80, I will be using my own DIY 22g Kanthal 5mm coil!

For e-Liquid I will be using a new liquid to me Super Juice “Awesome Red Aniseed” by IVG.

How to prepare the Recurve V2 RDA for use! A Basic guide

Choose which pin you want to use, 510 or BF (squonk) pin; I will be using the 510 pin for this example!

And of course which type of coil you wish to use; either those in the box or make your own like me!

• I cut the tails of my coil using my coily tool to around 7.5mm and seated it with a slight lift!
• Pulse and strum the coil/s to get rid of heat spots.
• Load your cotton into the coil – comb and trim and tuck into the deck. I have found if I leave a gap when tucking the cotton the liquid flows better.
• Dampen with liquid.
• Test fire and place one of the airflow adaptors over the coil ensuring it clips into the peg holes on the deck.
• Reassemble the Recurve V2 RDA and enjoy!

Wotofo Recurve V2 RDA in use

I have always said that RDA’s are my jam not only just because of flavour and vapour production – which for me is always excellent, but also for the cost of maintenance! In the long run the purchase of wire and cotton is far cheaper than buying stock coils!

As a single or even as a dual coil deck, I had no problems and found it very easy to build on!

I did find the deck screws were particularly tight when new and ended up using a slightly larger Philips head to unscrew them to seat the wire.

The airflow for this RDA is swishy but quiet full open, and produces a nice clean flavour and produces a good amount of vapour!

With my single 0.4Ω 5mm coil in place and the airflow cut to 2 slots open the best wattage for me was around 60w as a direct to lung vape!

The airflow is quite good open fully with this coil I was able to push the wattage up to 100w without too much heat!

Personally speaking – I like a more of a restricted DTL draw and closing the 2 top slots bought me much nearer to this, although I would have preferred if I could have cut the airflow further!

As the Recurve V2 stands this is definitely a direct to lung RDA, when fully open and at higher watts I had no problem filling my small office within a few toots!

What Mod can I use the Recurve V2 RDA on?

The quickest and easiest answer would be any mod you like lol

I have tested the RDA with both squonk mods and regulated mods; the Recurve V2 performed excellent with either.

As for hybrid mechs, the 510 pin does protrude enough for me to be happy in using and recommending this RDA on this type of device!

Final Review Verdict

I‘m impressed by the vapour and flavour production that the Recurve V2 RDA can produce, a very nice looking RDA that does what it says on the tin!

I have to say I do prefer this version over its predecessor with the new flat postless deck and airflow adaptors gives a much tastier vape. I did feel that the airflow could have been slightly tighter on its lower setting; however I have no complaints on the overall design and function of this RDA!

Would I recommend the Recurve V2 RDA?

I would recommend this RDA to users that are intermediate to experienced!

Would I buy this RDA again due loss or damage?

I can most definitely see myself replacing the Recurve V2 RDA should the need arise!

What Can We Expect From the Wotofo Profile PS RDA?

I can count on one hand how many dual mesh RDA’s are out there (not many), and to be honest I am quite fascinated by this one.

In the past I have always used mods that could handle parallel or series built coils like the Wismec Noisy Cricket V2.

Never in my wild imaginings would I think of changing from parallel to series just by swapping out a connection pin on the RDA!

But this is exactly what Wotofo and Mr Justright1 have done with this topper, I really believe this RDA to be a worlds first in RDA innovation.

Included with the kit are 4 pins to allow you to drip or squonk in series or parallel mode!

Design and Build Quality

The Wotofo Profile Dual Mesh PS RDA is made from stainless steel, it has an excellent quality of manufacture and design, and in the time I have been using this topper, it’s been solid and sound.

Wotofo has presented the Profile PS nicely in a card box with a plastic sleeve, with the extras under the foam tray.

Wotofo Profile PS RDA – Overview

As you can see I was sent the gun metal version.

It measures in at 35.5mm tall, and has a wide tank diameter of 28.5mm.

The RDA is a hefty little beast weighing in at 6.7oz, and comes with a low profile 810 resin mouthpiece preinstalled.

The extras bags have all the normal things you would expect to find including 3 of the 4 connection pins, I will say they have been a bit stingy in only supplying 2 mesh strips!

But no worries before this review in my tests with the PS I used kanthal mesh cut to size.

This RDA will dismantle into 6 parts – 9 parts if you take into account the 2 series and 2 parallel pins and parallel adaptor screw.

Wotofo Profile PS RDA Airflow Ring

Has a knurled decoration for easy movement within the barrel.

A low profile replaceable 810 mottled resin mouth pieces sits flat on a slightly raised platform and is held in position by an embedded O-ring.

The airflow ring consists of 27 honeycomb holes on each side of the ring in 3 rows; along with a single O ring help’s turn the cap in the barrel.

Inside the airflow cap you will see that it has been domed for improved flavour, any condensation or liquid will also drop back down to the cotton.

Wotofo Profile PS RDA Barrel

The stainless steel used for the barrel is quite thick and weighty, the barrel airflow is handled by 3 wide slots on each side.

And has “Profile PS” engraved on the front for advertising. BTW the PS stands for Parallel Series.

Looking inside the barrel you will see that it has 2 projections these will lock into place with the build deck, so the barrel remains stationary while turning the airflow.

The bottom of the PS has all the usual information.

The PS comes with the parallel gold plated 510 connection pin preinstalled which can be swapped out for any of the other 3 pins, under the parallel pin is an adaptor for use with only the parallel pins.

The 810 connection threading has been turned well.

The sides of the base and post have been sand blasted to give a different look to the deck, and the two side wire clamp screws have been recessed in cut outs that hold the barrel in place, the base has an O ring for the barrel to slip over.

Looking at the build deck you will see one central post, it has wire clamps at each end and 1 on top, this clamp also serves as the squonk valve with a hollow screw.

Each of the side clamps has a white peek insulator plate on springs that serve to keep your cotton tight to the mesh strip.

The liquid well is deep and will hold up to 3ml of liquid and cotton!

A lot of thought has gone into this RDA, the design is sound and the quality of workmanship is excellent.

My biggest and only complaint after taking the Profile PS out of the box is it was swimming in machine oil, I mean the whole thing was coated, a quick wash sorted that!

So How Does the Wotofo Profile PS RDA Perform?

In this part of the review I will be using the PS as parallel dripper on my Wotofo Mdura Pro, then swapping out the pins for the series squonk pin and using the RDA on my Wotofo Profile Squonk mod!

For liquid I will be using an old favourite of mine TJuice Red Astaire, I made 120ml from TJuice’s 30ml DIY liquid concentrate.

How to prepare the Profile PS RDA for use! A Basic guide

Choose which pin you want to use, parallel or series in either squonk or drip mode, I will be using the parallel closed pin to start with.

• Find your coil tool and bend the mesh strips.
• Seat the mesh into the clamps! Ensure the mesh is straight and level before tightening down the top clamp screw!
• I like to heat the mesh at this point by pulsing on a low wattage. You don’t have to do this, but as my fingers have been all over the mesh it’s advisable!
• Load your cotton – comb and trim and tuck into the deck.
• Dampen the cotton with liquid.

Reassemble the Profile PS RDA and enjoy!

A word about Series V Parallel mesh builds

Loading this RDA for either series or parallel is exactly the same the only difference will be the pin chosen.

The mesh supplied by Wotofo are 0.3Ω strips this means that for a series build with this RDA both coils will total 0.6Ω and for parallel with the same build will total 0.15Ω.

Using either of the series pins will help to preserve your battery power, especially for those who use single battery squonk/regulated mods.

In squonk mode as you push the bottle the liquid will waterfall from the valve over the coils and cotton.

Wotofo Profile PS RDA in use

I personally found the PS a bit fiddly to build on due to my arthritis, you have to hold both of the mesh strip ends into the top clamps then screw down the hollow squonk valve/screw.

In parallel drip mode for me 55 to 60w with the airflow cut down to half was just about right for my micro lungs lol.

In series squonk mode using my profile squonker I fired this beasty at 45w topping off at 55w with the same airflow.

Both modes gave fairly good flavour with excellent vapour production; I did notice that the series squonk runs a little warmer than the parallel dripper.

For use with hybrid mechs, the series and parallel 510 pins do sits out enough for me to be happy in recommending this RDA for use with these devices.

Pros

Cons

I don’t have any serious concerns with the Wotofo Profile Dual Mesh RDA.

• The amount of machine oil in this RDA when new was horrible but fixable
• Only 2 pieces of mesh come with the kit
• Low profile drip tip

Final Review Verdict

I am very impressed by the vapour production that the Wotofo Profile PS RDA produces its thick and cloudy, the flavour production was fairly good.

Only supplying 2 mesh strips was disappointing! I’ve also ended up changing the 810 drip tip for a slightly longer one!

Innovation is something I always look for with vaping products and have to say I think Wotofo has nailed it with the changeable series and parallel pins.

Would I recommend the Profile PS Dual Mesh RDA?

I would have no qualms about recommending this RDA, for intermediate and experienced users.

Would I buy this RDA again due loss or damage?

“Yes” I can see myself buying another as replacement or even as a 2nd topper!

What Can We Expect From the Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod?

This mod doesn’t need to be pigeonholed solely as a regulated squonking device!

It has two modes of operation, in squonk mode it comes with a 7ml squonk bottle and runs up to 80w on one 18650 battery, and in dual mode the device is capable of 200w of power.

The chipset inside is the fast 0.001 instant fire Wotofo NexChip.

At the time of this review the Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod is available in 2 colours.

This device was sent to me for the purpose of review.

Like always my views and thoughts are my own after a long testing period.

I was sent the Gunmetal version for this review, and it was presented nicely in a cardboard box with a plastic over sleeve.

Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod Overview

Measuring in at 93.85mm tall with a 30mm tank diameter, the width of the device is 44.4mm it’s made of Zinc Alloy and plastic materials, and weighs 135g straight out of the box.

From the Top

The Profile Squonk has a centralised stainless steel 510 connection plate with well turned threading, and a gold plated hollow squonk pin that is springy.

Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod – Front

It has a bright 0.96” TFT colour display that shows everything you would normally expect to see.

Both adjustment and fire buttons are made of plastic, and while the fire button is at the top centre of the mod, it has a nice clicky feel to it and is easy to reach and use.

Alongside the screen at the bottom is printed “NexChip inside”.

Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod – Body

Thanks to the beveled sides and the 44.4mm thickness of the device, it is very comfortable to hold in the hand for an extended period of time.

Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod – Battery Door

On the rear of the device is a plastic magnetic battery door that has been moulded heavily with logos, the door has 2 strong magnets top and bottom to hold the door in place, and has a wide thumb slot for activating your squonk bottle.

Removing the door is aided by a thumbnail slot.

Inside the mod you’ll find a pre installed a 7ml silicone squonk bottle, which sits inside an aluminium cage that has a screw cap.

Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod Battery Sled

When the bottle is removed the device has a clean plastic battery sled with a side ribbon for removal of your battery and squonk bottle.

Personally I think there is a slight design flaw here – to change your battery out, you have to pop out your bottle as well.

Had Wotofo used 2 ribbons centre seated, removal of just the battery would be easier.

The battery sled is well marked for battery orientation, with gold plated battery contacts and marked on the sled as A & B – B being the hollow 510 squonk pin.

I can see another small problem here with liquid on your battery, in dual mode.

Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod – Bottom

On the bottom of the device you will find your Type C USB 2A charge port, along with loads of advertising and safety marks.

All told the Profile Squonk is good quality, although I feel it’s a wee bit tall for a squonk.

Before I even used this device I spotted a few minor issues with it, or am I just being picky?

How Does the Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod Perform?

For this review I will be using the Wotofo Srpnt RDA in squonk mode.

And later with my Hellvape Fat Rabbit RTA in dual mode!

I will also be using Flavour Burst – Apple Burst e-liquid in both atomisers.

Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod Quick Start Guide

Decide if you want to squonk or not!

As a Squonking device

• Remove the plastic battery door and take out the 7ml bottle, unscrew the cap and fill with E-liquid.
• Replace the cap and replace into your mod along with a freshly charged 18650 battery!
• Prepare your BF RDA as you would normally, and then screw on to the Profile Squonk mod.
• Lightly squeeze the bottle until you see liquid dampening your cotton.

As a normal dual battery vaping device

Remove the bottle, making sure you clean any remaining E-liquid from all contacts in particular the squonk pin! Insert 2 freshly charged 18650’s add your tank and away you go!

You can charge the batteries via the type C port, but as always I recommend using a standalone charger!

Functions

• Click the fire button x5 fast to turn the device on and off.
• Using the up and down buttons will alter the wattage.
• Click the fire button x3 will completely lock and unlock the mod.
• Holding down both adjustment buttons will lock and unlock the wattage.
• Fire and up buttons together, will allow you to change to any of the 6 theme colours – red, yellow, blue white, purple and green.
• Fire and down button together will clear the puff counter!

The device will adjust and round robin from 5 to 80w with a single 18650 or 5 to 200w with dual 18650’s

The mod has a 0.001 instant fire thanks to the NexChip, and includes protections like Atomizer detection, Overheat and PCB safety shut off.

Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod – In Use

Let’s to the heart of this device!

Squonk Mode

I love squonking – it can be a good alternative to dripping!

I’m not going to lie here and say this the best squonk mod I have ever used, that pleasure for me belongs to the Dovpo Topside dual, however I will say it would be perfect for beginners to learn about all the pitfalls of squonking before going the route of a more expensive squonk device!

Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod – Screen

When I fired up the device in squonk mode, the first thing that caught my eye was the greyed out battery B indicator.

The next was the size of the fonts and the amount of wasted space on screen; while the screen is easy to read indoors, outside in direct sunlight it’s not!

Squonk Mode

I had no problem using the device in squonk mode, it does take a few seconds for the squonk action to start working.

And just for the record the Wotofo Srpnt RDA functioned perfectly on the mod producing good flavour and excellent vapour production!

The only thing that got on my nerves is when switching out the battery was also having to remove the bottle at the same time.

Although in an odd way this did serve a purpose as each time I did so, I wiped out any stray liquid in the battery sled.

Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod Dual Mode

I’ve got to say I hate this door, there is far too much blatant advertising on it and in this mode one of the two 18650 batteries is left partially open to the elements.

I also had to make sure in dual mode, that no liquid was left in the hollow 510 connection as well as the tube used to transport the liquid to the 510, before inserting my dual 18650 batteries – I did this by blowing into the 510 connection and giving the sled a good clean after.

The mod functioned wonderfully as a standard vaping device, with my Fat Rabbit RTA on top I achieved 120w without bothering my micro lungs to much lol.

Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod Battery Life

In squonk mode I find at 35/40w I get about 2 hours vape time, and in dual mode I get just about 3.5 hours at 65/70w.

Final Review Verdict

OK I found some minor niggles with this device, but I don’t want them to detract on the way this device functions which is admirably in both modes.

This is an innovative mod without question due to the 2 modes, however I can’t really say who would go for this type of device?

I can’t really see the device being a hit with the diehard squonk crowd, and as a regular device some might have an issue with the thumb slot.

The advertising on this mod is blatant and over the top!

Would I recommend the Wotofo Profile Squonk Mod?

Maybe for those who want to learn how to squonk and all its pitfalls before buying a more expensive squonk device.

Would I buy this device again due loss or damage?

For me personally “No” I have better squonk devices at hand.

What Can We Expect From the Wotofo Srpnt RDA?

I guess in a way the Wotofo Srpnt RDA could be loosely be called the Serpent v2, the original Serpent BF RDA I bought for use as a Squonk RDA, it was a good topper and one I used for a long time on my Eleaf Pico Squeeze!

Wotofo has abbreviated the name from Serpent to that of Srpnt for this RDA, I guess this is to save confusion between the two RDA’s!

The Srpnt has a lovely wide build deck, in fact it can take single sized coils up to 5mm and dual coils up to 3mm it has an intriguing airflow system.

Squonk Ready!

Wotofo has included a BF pin, which stands for “bottom feed” this is used with squonk mods.

Talking of squonk mods I can’t wait to test this RDA out on Wotofo’s new Profile Squonk Mod when it comes in!

Design and Build Quality

Wotofo Srpnt RDA

I was sent the Black version of the Wotofo Srpnt RDA.

It measures in at 22.7mm tall, and with a diameter of 24mm, and is made of Stainless Steel – with an 810 resin mouthpiece.

This RDA comes with lots of extras; cotton, coils, replacement post screws, BF pin, O-rings, Allen key, screw driver and a coil building tool.

The Srpnt RDA will dismantle into 4 parts – 7 parts if you take into account the positive base post – and the 510 connection pin and the BF (Squonk) pin.

Wotofo Srpnt RDA Airflow Ring

Made of Stainless Steel the airflow/cap ring has an engraved decoration reminiscent of snake scales around the top edge of the cap this is for easy movement within the barrel.

The 810 resin mouth piece sits flat on the cap and is held in position by an embedded O-ring, the top of the A.F cap has 3 engravings that read “SRPNT”.

The airflow ring has 3 different airflows, two resembling windows on each side, comprising of 4 holes each window, the holes measure 1.9mm and 1.6mm.

The smallest airflow has 2 holes and they measure 1.9mm.

Inside the airflow cap you will see that it has some doming going on, this is so any condensation or liquid will drop back down to your coil/s!

Wotofo Srpnt RDA Barrel

Again made of stainless steel, Wotofo has given us a window slot on each side of the barrel.

For advertising they have engraved a snakes head along with the word “Srpnt”!

Taking a look inside the barrel you will see that the Srpnt RDA has 2 projections these will lock into place with the build deck, so the barrel doesn’t move while turning the airflow.

Wotofo Srpnt RDA Base and Build Deck

The base of the deck looks quite confusing as there is a lot of decoration and info going on, however Wotofo has included all the usual expected information.

The RDA comes with a standard gold plated 510 connection pin which as I said can be swapped out for the BF (Squonk) pin; the connection threading has been turned well!

The sides of the base have 2 cut outs to seat and lock the barrel in place, along with two O-rings that have been seated around the base for a firm leak proof placement of the barrel.

The build deck is where the magic is as far as I am concerned!

Comprising of the normal positive and negative posts, the posts are tight against the sides of the build deck, leaving a large space for your coils in the centre, there is enough room for a 5mm single coil maybe even larger.

The 2 posts each have two wire terminals with Philips head screws, the internal deck airflow is situated between the posts, the internal airflow is designed to line up with the cap and barrel airflow when they are in place.

Removing the BF pin and positive post you will see the post sits on what Wotofo call a German peek insulator.

The Srpnt RDA has a good quality of design, my only complaint is I found machine oil within the deck when new, a quick wash sorted that lol.

How Does the Wotofo Srpnt RDA Perform?

For this review I will be using the Wotofo Srpnt RDA on my Wotofo Mdura Pro.

Because of my allergy to Ni80, I will be using my own DIY 22g Kanthal 5mm coil, for e-Liquid I will be using Summer Vibes “Peach and Passion Fruit”.

How to prepare the Wotofo Srpnt RDA for use! A Basic guide

Choose which pin you want to use, 510 or BF (squonk) pin – I will be using the 510 pin for this example.

And of course which type of coil you wish to use; either those in the box or make your own like me!

• Seat the coil/s and cut the tails!
• Pulse and strum the coil/s to get rid of heat spots.
• Load your cotton into the coil – comb and trim and tuck into the deck.
• Dampen with liquid.
• Test fire and re-dampen with liquid if necessary.

Reassemble the Srpnt RDA and enjoy!

A word about dual coils

If you use dual coils in this RDA, make sure they do not touch each other or the deck in any way as this will cause a short.

Make sure the coils are situated in front of the internal deck airflow.

Wotofo Srpnt RDA in use

As a single coil deck I found the Srpnt very easy to build on! As a dual build deck I found it a little more on the fiddly side, but this was due to my hands!

The airflow is swishy fully open, and produces a crisp clean flavour with a great amount of vapour.

I found with my single 0.51Ω 5mm coil in place the best wattage for me was around 65w as a direct to lung vape!

The airflow is quite good open fully with the large holes and even with this coil I was able to push the wattage up to 100w!

I really didn’t really feel any big difference between the two larger airflow settings!

The smaller of the two sets of 4 holes, I feel could have been halved to add more restriction to the draw.

Personally I like a more restricted DTL draw so I tend to leave the airflow on the 2 hole airflow option most of the time at 65w, again though I would have liked to have seen these holes smaller there by adding to the restriction!

As the Srpnt stands this is definitely a Sub Ohm RDA that produces clouds that can fill my small office within 3 or 4 toots when fully open and at higher watts!

What Mod can I use the Wotofo Srpnt RDA on?

A quick answer would be any mod you like!

I have tested the RDA with both squonk mods and regulated mods, the Srpnt’s performance with either is really good.

As for hybrid mechs, the 510 pin does sits out enough for me to be happy in using this RDA on this type of device.

I don’t have any serious concerns with this RDA!

• The Srpnt RDA doesn’t cater well to those of us that like a more restricted vape.

Final Review Verdict

I am very much impressed by the vapour production that the Wotofo Srpnt RDA can produce, which was thick and cloudy and by the flavour production.

However I would have preferred that the airflow provided was tighter, saying that this RDA has an interesting airflow if you like a lot of vapour with good flavour then this RDA, is one you should look out for!

Would I recommend the Wotofo Srpnt RDA?

If you are after a cloudy beast that can give you good flavour I’d say “Yes” but not for those who are just starting their DIY journey.

I would be of a mind to recommend this RDA to users that are at the intermediate to experienced stage of their vaping journey.

Would I buy this RDA again due loss or damage?

For 20 quid “Yes” I could see myself replacing this one!

More Details On The Wotofo MDura Mini Kit…

The kit consists of the MDura Mini box mod and the NexMini Sub Ohm tank. The NexMini tank is also included in the MDura Kit.

Looking first at the mod – this is a single 18650 battery mod which uses the familiar screw on top cap design.

The output is variable between 5 to 80W and your vaping data is displayed on the 0.96in colour TFT screen.

A USB Type C port is included with 2A charge rate for emergencies and the NexCHIP is the brains of the device.

On the top of the mod is a standard 510 connector for use with other 510 atomisers and the tank also has a standard 510 connector.

Depending on which kit you buy the tank has a different capacity – 3.5ml (straight glass) / 4.5ml (bubble glass) for the standard version whereas the TPD compliant version has a 2ml glass and a 4.5ml bubble glass.

On the base of the tank is the honeycomb airflow inlets which are adjustable to suit your preference.

Filling is via a childproof locking slide top cap which moves across to expose the fill port.

The tank uses the D range of coils with the #D43 0.2ohm Clapton Mesh and the #D41 NexMESH coils included in the kit.

As a company Wotofo have been around since 2012 and based in China, they have bought us devices in the past like the Dyadic Sqounk mod and Chieftain mod, toppers like the Profile RDA, and the Profile Unity RTA as well as few pods systems like Manik Mini pod kit and Manik Mini pod kit.

What Can We Expect From the Wotofo Mdura Pro?

The Wotofo Mdura Pro is a very heavy and very substantial device, and covered with an IP67 rubber coating.

Comfortable to hold, with the added security of being shock, dust and water resistant!

A large colour TFT screen, maxing out at 230w and powered by two 18650 batteries.

Running things inside is Wotofo’s own chipset – ‘NexChip’ – which supposedly adds speed and reliability to the device.

This is a perfect mod for an active outdoor life.

Design and Build Quality

Whilst I was sent the mod only kit, you can purchase the kit with the rather nice looking NexMesh Pro 2ml Sub Ohm Tank!

The device comes presented in a cardboard box with a plastic lid.

As you can see I was sent the King Kong Blue edition.

No kidding, this mod is a brick, measuring in at 88.1mm tall, 47.4mm depth with a tank diameter of 33.1mm.

The mod has zinc alloy and rubber construction with metal buttons, with the batteries in place it’s a great old handful.

From the Top

The Wotofo Mdura Pro has a stainless steel 510 connection with very well turned threading and a gold plated spring loaded connection pin.

Wotofo Mdura Pro – Workface

The 1.3 inch colour TFT screen is clear and bright indoors- outside I feel it could be a lot brighter.

The screen shows you everything that you would expect to see with this type of device!

Above the screen is printed Wotofo’s web address and below the screen tells us the NexChip is inside, the screen is surrounded by a metal frame.

The metal adjustment buttons are a little small for my fingers, they do however have a nice click to them.

Also the workface has a “type C”  USB charge port that is covered with a rubber bung.

On the back of the device there is a leather panel that is also surrounded with a metal frame the leather material has advertising “Mdura” printed on to it, the leather panel has been lightly stuffed for comfort.

Wotofo Mdura Pro Sides

Due to the IP67 covering the sides are rounded and comfortable in the hand.

On the left side if looking at the screen you will see a large metal fire button is raised from the body, while clicky the fire button has a slight spongy feel to it!

Wotofo Mdura Pro Battery Door

You will see Wotofo has printed the usual CE and recycle marks on the door, and has 2 sets of 4 battery vent holes either side of the door switch.

This door is a flip door, activated by the thumb switch, it has a rubber seal and is quite weighty.

Once the door is opened you will see the gold plated battery connections marked +A -B.

Inside of the battery compartment Wotofo has covered the sled in plastic to avoid battery shorts, also you will see the Red + and Blue – symbols for the orientation of your batteries.

How Does the Wotofo Mdura Pro Mod Perform?

For this review I will be using my Profile Unity RTA, while a good match RTA, my gold tank doesn’t really go with the mod but then I do like a bit of bling lol.

For e-liquid I will be using is Dr Vapes “Lychee & Exotic Fruits”, it gave my taste buds a real treat – a virtual explosion of exotic fruits with sweet lychee highlights so yummy!

Basic Quick Start Guide

Wotofo Mdura Pro Mod

• Place your two 18650 batteries into the device following the battery guides!

Wotofo say you can charge the batteries via the USB type C port, but as always I recommend using a standalone charger.

• Clicking the fire button x5 fast to turn the device on and off.
• Press and hold the menu system button; you can then change the mode settings, standard, power, power+, Ti, Ni, SS as well as TCR setting.
• A quick tap of the menu button will put the device into stealth mode tap it again to wake the screen up!

Adjustment buttons

• Both adjustment buttons together will lock and unlock the device.
• Holding the fire and minus buttons together will clear the puff count.
• Fire and plus buttons together will activate the screen colour option.

The device will adjust from 5 to 230w and will round robin the power!

• Short circuit protection
• Overcharge protection
• Over discharge protection
• Reverse polarity protection

Wotofo Mdura Pro – In Use

I’m not much of a high wattage vaper and tend to stay below 100w, but I have to say I was very impressed with this unit.

The menu function give you 3 options for wattage a standard and 2 boost like options which are very powerful as well as the other wire options, and the Nexchip allows a fast almost instantaneous fire.

At 80w in Standard Power I received a nice warm cloudy DTL vape, switching to Power, the boost kicked in and I almost burnt my lips as I was not expecting much of a difference!

Silly me, I ended up cutting the watts down to 40w so I could vape!

As for the Power Plus mode it was so hot I was not comfortable at all, no matter what wattage, I spent most of my time barfing up a lung lol.

I swapped out the Profile Unity RTA for my Oxva Arbiter Solo RTA so I could get mouth to lung style draw, at 25w the flavour was out of this world!

Wotofo Mdura Pro Temperature Control

I don’t use temp control these days, however I felt I had to give it a go this time.

Due to my dislike for titanium and my nickel allergy I tested the device in TC SS mode at 420f and 60w.

The unit delivered excellent flavour and again a cloudy vape that was just right for me.

Wotofo Mdura Pro Battery life

At 60w DTL to I get about 4 hours vape time with the dual 18650 batteries, which I thought was pretty good going!

With MTL at 25w, I pretty well managed all day!

Shock and Water Tests

OK you know I had to test this out!

Shock test:

I dropped the mod from hip high to simulate the device falling from my pocket onto a stone path!

Result:

LOL this sucker gives an impressive bounce due to the top quality of the IP67 covering, I can’t see any damage or scrapes to the rubber, but  because the mod came to rest on its back there are a few scratches on the metal frame!

Water resistance:

I did two tests, first was the dunk test I left the device in water for 20 minutes without batteries!

Result:

The mod worked fine after I dried it and put the 18650’s back in!

Pour test:

Leaving the batteries in and tank on, I tipped a jug of water over the setup!

Result:

Directly pouring water over the device had no discernible effect on the setup apart from getting a little water in the airflow of the Unity RTA!

I would call these tests successful.

Final Review Verdict

A great device for those looking for a heavy substantial device that is rugged!

I won’t say indestructible as I am sure taking a sledgehammer to it will do the trick lol.

The menu system is simple to understand and with the “NexChip” installed the device fires really fast! The only thing that lets it down for me is the brightness of the screen!

Would I recommend the Wotofo Mdura Pro?

This is a simple easy to use device, if you like a heavy mod this will be an easy recommendation from me!

Would I buy this device again due loss or damage?

Like my original Geekvape Aegis Legend, the Wotofo Mdura Pro has already taken its proper place in my daily rotation!

So “Yes” if I lost it I would be seeking to buy another!

More Details On The Wotofo MDura Kit…

The kit consists of the MDura box mod and the NexMini Sub Ohm tank.

Unlike the MDura Pro kit this is not IP rated – no mention of being waterproof, shock or dustproof?

Also as you can see the styling is different with a smaller 0.96in screen located on the panel at the side of the mod rather than the larger screen on the Pro version.

The brain of the mod is the NexCHIP which is also used on lots of other Wotofo devices and provides a fast firing speed and plenty of user protections.

You will need 2×18650 batteries to power the mod (although there is an error on the Wotofo website saying only 1 battery in the specs).

Output wise you get 5-200W and there only seems to be a Variable Wattage mode available.

A Type C USB port is provided with a 2A charge rate.

The kit tank is the NexMini sub ohm tank which uses the D range of coils.

You get the D43 Clapton Mesh and D41 A1 NexMESH coils included in the kit.

There is also the option of a D42 Net Mesh 0.2ohm coil and D44 Dual NexMESH 0.15ohm coil available separately.

If you are into rebuilding the SMRT V8 Baby rebuildable coil kit also from Wotofo is compatible with plenty of mesh options to choose from.

Or there is a RBA deck you can install too.

A slide fill cap takes care of refilling with a child-lock port valve also available.

On the base of the tank is the airflow control ring to allow you to adjust the incoming airflow to your preference.

There are 4 colours to choose from: King Kong Black, King Kong Blue, King Kong Red and King Kong Orange.

What To Expect From The Wotofo Troll X RTA?

So what makes the Troll X stand out in a world full of RTA‘s?

The first thing that I saw was the airflow system. Basically there is a bottom adjustable airflow inlet and the outlets on the deck are the interesting bit.

You can change the airflow type on the deck by changing the insert – you can even do this with coils installed.

Both types of airflow insert are included in the kit and you have a honeycomb multi-hole insert for smoother airflow or the other insert has 2 large slots for heavy duty airflow!

As with most 24mm RTA’s this is designed for single or dual coil builds and the deck has 4 clamp screws without posts.

There are 3 capacity options – the standard version comes with a 3ml straight glass and 4.4ml bubble glass. But for TPD regulated areas the straight glass has a reduced capacity of 2ml – but you still get the bubble glass included!

Filling is taken care of via a slide top fill cap.

There are 6 colours to choose from: Black, Stainless Steel, Blue Metal, Blue, Gold and Rainbow.
