In today’s review we are looking at one of the latest disposable vapes from Vuse – the Vuse Go 1000 Creamy Tobacco!

vuse go 1000 pod review

Launched in 2013 and now part of the R.J. Reynolds Vapor Company, Vuse have grown into a vaping powerhouse and they now have the largest share of the vaping market in the US.

They were formerly known as Vype in the UK and have a large market presence with many of their products stocked in local shops and supermarkets as well as vape shops.

We recently took a look at the Vuse Go Reload 1000 Pod Kit and have also reviewed some of their other products in the past, such as the ePen, ePen 3 and the Pebble kit.

What Can We Expect From The Vuse Go 1000 Creamy Tobacco Disposable Vape?

Designed for convenience and ease of use, the Vuse Go 1000 Creamy Tobacco Disposable Vape comes pre-filled with 2ml of e-liquid. So it can be used straight out of the box with no set-up process required.

vuse-go 1000 front view

This is the ‘new and improved’ version of the Vuse Go 1000, which features new ceramic heating technology designed to deliver a bold, intense flavour experience.

A nicotine salt blend is used and this comes in 20mg strength. Using nicotine salt provides a smoother throat hit than traditional freebase nicotine and fast nicotine craving satisfaction.

This delivers a classic mouth-to-lung vape, mimicking the draw you would get from a cigarette and it provides a discreet amount of vapour.

The compact design of the device means you have a small form factor vape. You can see exactly how much e-liquid you have left so you’ll always know when it is about to run out!

Many thanks to Vape Club for sending the Vuse Go 1000 Creamy Tobacco Disposable Vape over for review!

Let’s dive in and have a deeper look at this device and as always, all views are my own!

Design & Build Quality

You’ve got a very small form factor device here (measuring in at a tiny 73mm x 40mm x 19mm) making it smaller than palm-sized for most people!

It is so small you might hardly notice it is there when you’ve got it in your pocket.

vuse go 1000 in hand

Vuse have designed this so that you can see exactly how much e-liquid you have remaining in the pre-filled 2ml capacity chamber. Which is something a lot of other disposable vapes don’t do.

This means it is easy to see when you are running low on liquid and perhaps need to pick up another device.

You also have a pre-charged internal 600mAh battery, designed to last you until the e-liquid has run out. At the base there is also an on/off switch for the device too.

Quick Start Guide

It is as easy as taking the device out of the packaging, pulling the silicon plug out of the mouthpiece and taking a puff!

As it is an inhale activated device, simply take a puff on it to get vaping.

back vuse go disposable

There’s nothing else really to mention feature-wise – but there is an on/off switch at the base of the device if you want to switch it off when not in use for peace of mind.

Once you have finished the 2ml worth of e-liquid in the device, simply dispose of it (ideally into a vape recycling bin, these shouldn’t go into your household waste!) and replace it with a new one.

How Does The Vuse Go 1000 Creamy Tobacco Disposable Vape Perform?

This has been designed to provide a mouth-to-lung vape which is similar to what you would expect to get from a cigarette, appealing to smokers who may be considering or in the process of switching to vaping.

vuse go creamy tobacco

Now, it’s been quite a long time since I last had a cigarette, but I can confirm that you get a pretty cheek-suckingly tight vape from this device. My main issue was that I felt the power from the device was quite weak and I had to take a good, long inhale on it to get anything from it at all.

Vapour wise, there’s not a lot produced which makes this quite a discreet and stealthy little device!

I mainly vape 10mg nicotine salt e-liquid these days and this is a 20mg device, but I didn’t get a particularly strong nicotine hit from this. Necessitating repeated puffs to get nicotine craving satisfaction.

I didn’t have any issues with the battery running out before I had finished the 2ml worth of e-liquid and the vape was consistent all the way from start to finish.

Flavour

I was sent the Creamy Tobacco flavour for review, however the Vuse Go 1000 box-styled disposable vape also has Blackcurrant Ice and Berry Blend flavour options available on the Vape Club website.

vuse go 1000 creamy toabacco

The Vuse Go 1000 is also available as a pen-styled disposable vape, with a ton of different flavour options available!

They say:

“A blend of fragrant vanilla and sweet caramel, fused with woody notes of smoky tobacco.”

We say:

Predominantly, I get quite a creamy note when taking a puff on this, with a mere hint of caramel flavouring in the background, which is very subtle and can be easily missed.

The creamy note just tasted like a standard cream flavour to me, lacking in vanilla.

A note of tobacco brings smoky notes to this, but much like the caramel it is a subtle flavour note and not as full-bodied as a lot of tobacco flavours out there. The tobacco note actually delivers a bit of throat hit, not much I must say but I did pick up on it!

Overall, I felt that the device was letting the flavour down. It is under-powered and if it had a bit more ‘oomph’ to it then the flavour notes would be a bit more prominent I imagine it would be tastier too!

Do You Really Get Up To 1000 Puffs?

Vuse claim that you can get up to 1000 puffs from one of these. Based on laboratory testing of a newly manufactured Vuse Go 1000 device, with a puff duration of less than one second.

mouthpiece

Realistically, not many people are going to be taking puffs of less than a second though!

As the vape is quite weak from this device, I was taking quite long puffs of several seconds at a time.

This gave me a puff count of 288 in total and I would imagine that most people using one of these would achieve around the same number. In real world usage that was less than a day’s worth of vaping before I needed to dispose of the device.

Of course, the amount of puffs you will get will vary depending on how often you take a puff. But I would say it is highly unlikely anyone will get anywhere near 1000 puffs during real world usage!

Pros

  • Can get vaping right out of the box
  • Very simple to use
  • Clear chamber allows you to see exactly how much e-liquid you have left
  • Small form factor

Cons

  • Very tight airflow
  • Vape is also quite weak and under-powered
  • Throwaway disposable vape, can’t be re-used once finished
  • Nowhere near 1000 puffs

Final Verdict

I’m guessing the target market for this device is going to be people who are looking to make the switch from smoking to vaping. Something like this may well do the job and get them to quit.

It is a fuss free device, that can be used straight out of the box, which will appeal to many people I’m sure. Especially if they are new to vaping and confused by the myriad of different vaping options available.

However, this does offer quite a weak vape, so don’t be expecting to have your socks blown off with in your face strong flavour! I did feel the nicotine hit wasn’t particularly satisfying as well, even with these containing 20mg nicotine salt.

If you like the look of these, but are put off by the fact that this is a disposable vape and can’t be re-used, then it might be worth taking a look at the Vuse Go Reload 1000 as those offer the ability to recharge the device and replace the pods.

Many thanks to Vape Club for sending the Vuse Go 1000 Creamy Tobacco disposable vape over for review. This can be purchased from them for £5.99 or 3 for £15 in their multi-buy offer!

Vuse go reload 1000

Vuse launched in 2013 as part of the R.J. Reynolds Vapor Company and since then they have grown to have the largest share of the vaping market in the US.

They also have a large market presence in the UK, with many of their products being stocked in local shops and supermarkets.

Originally Vuse was known as Vype in the UK and we have looked at a couple of their products such as the ePen, ePen 3 and Pebble kit.

What Can We Expect From The Vuse Go Reload 1000 Pod Kit?

This is a simple, low-maintenance pod system aimed at beginner users. It offers the convenience factor of pre-filled pods that slot easily into the device and also promises up to 1000 puffs from each pod!

Vuse go reload 1000 banner

Vuse pods feature a flavour-boosting ceramic coil and 2ml of 20mg nicotine salt blended e-liquid to provide a smooth throat hit and fast acting craving satisfaction. Once you have finished your pod, simply swap it for a new one!

A 530mAh battery is built into the device. This can be recharged via the included USB-C cable, allowing you to use your device over and over again. No need to throw it away once you have finished off your pod!

Vuse go reload 1000 features

As this is a starter kit, it delivers a mouth to lung vape with a small amount of vapour that replicates the draw that you would get from a cigarette.

The pre-filled pod flavour and device colour will differ depending on which option you purchase. The options are Blue (Blueberry Ice or Blue Raspberry), Orange (Watermelon Ice), Red (Strawberry Ice) and Aqua (Mint Ice).

Design & Build Quality

In terms of size, this is quite similar to a small disposable vape – much like a Lost Mary BM600 for example.

It’s certainly one of the smaller pod systems I’ve held and gets absolutely swallowed up by my hand!

vuse reload go in hand

There’s a magnetic connection between the pod and the device, making it easy to insert a pod.

vuse go battery

But once the pod is inserted, you can’t see how much e-liquid is remaining without removing the pod.

vuse go pod

On the side of the device is a button which is used to lock the device and a charging port is found on the base.

vuse go reload 1000 back

Overall, the build quality of this device just feels like more of a cheap disposable vape. It’s quite plasticky and doesn’t feel very robust, but I guess this is a sub £5 pod system after all!

Quick Start Guide

Getting started with the Vuse Go Reload 1000 is as easy as taking the protective sticker off of the included pod and popping it into the device.

Vuse go reload 1000 guide

The auto draw system means that you simply just take a puff on it to vape!

Once you have emptied your pod, keep hold of the device but discard the pod. Simply insert a new pod into the device to continue vaping.

vuse go reload side

You have a basic LED light to indicate how much battery life is remaining. But it is limited to blinking five times when the battery is running low and ten times when the battery is empty and at that point you won’t be able to puff on the device.

There’s a button located near the base of the kit and this is a child safety lock.

Click it three times to lock the device. You won’t be able to puff on it when the child safety lock is engaged and to unlock it click it another three times.

To charge the Vuse Go Reload 1000, simply plug the included USB-C cable into the charging port at the base of the device.

charge port

It charges at a rate of 0.5A, so it takes around an hour and a half to fully charge up.

The LED will light up a solid White colour to indicate that the device is charging and it will turn off when done.

How Does The Vuse Go Reload 1000 Perform?

There’s a wide range of different pods available for the Vuse Go Reload 1000 Pod Kit and the pods are cross compatible with the Vuse Pro and the Vuse Epod 2 as well.

I’ll be looking at the five different ‘Extra Intense Flavour’ pod packs I was sent along with the pod included with my kit.

Blue Raspberry

vuse blue raspberrySo this is the pod that was included with my kit, as Vape Club sent the Blue Raspberry version over for review.

I get a slight hint of a blue raspberry flavour on the inhale that is quite candied. It’s definitely a very artificial blue raspberry that is for sure! There’s a slight hint of sweetener on the exhale but that is about it really.

Flavour wise, it’s pretty bland compared to what I’m used to, there’s not really much to it if I’m honest.

Berry Blend

vuse berry blendWell there’s a hint of a berry blend here. I pick up on a raspberry flavour with a faint hint of strawberry in the background, but not much else to note. It’s quite a basic berry blend in that regard.

There was quite a nasty, artificial aftertaste afterwards that I found to be quite unpleasant. This could have done with a bit of menthol at the end to blend in with the raspberry and strawberry flavour and perhaps mask that artificial aftertaste a bit.

Banana Ice

vuse banana iceNo mistaking what this is when you take it out of the packaging, there’s a very strong smell of Foam Banana Sweets!

I’ve got to be really honest here, this is quite possibly the worst banana flavour I have ever tried. I am not a fan of them as it is, but this one is particularly bad.

Straight away I get the Foam Banana Sweet but this is quickly overwhelmed by a horrid chemical taste mixed with a bit of menthol that made me want to gag. I have a pretty strong stomach but I really could not handle this.

Then I opened the second pod up in the pack to give it a go, just in case the first one I tried was just a bad one, but nope, I got the same result.

Awful, truly awful stuff.

Apple Sour

vuse apple sourOooh, there’s a lovely smell when I take this out of the packaging, it reminds me of apple juice!

And you know what, this actually isn’t too bad. It tastes like a candied apple flavour and it’s not the strongest flavour either, but it is quite subtle and pleasant to vape on.

There’s actually quite a nice sour flavour note right at the end too. I would have liked a bit more flavour out of this one but it does the job I would say!

Passionfruit Ice

I’m sorry to say but this is another absolutely awful pod.

There’s just no passionfruit flavour here at all. There’s a horrible chemical taste at the start then some weak menthol and that is it.

The chemical taste was absolutely terrible and didn’t resemble passionfruit in the slightest. I have no idea what it was!

It’s completely un-vapeable in my opinion.

Creamy Tobacco

vuse creamy tobaccoI’m not really sure what is going on with the tobacco flavour, it starts off promising but then just tails off and is overwhelmed by a strong hint of cream.

There’s an earthy note to the tobacco but that is about it really.

There’s a bit – a small hint – of throat hit here too which is pleasing for a tobacco e-liquid.

This isn’t one for people making the switch from smoking to vaping, nor does it represent a true tobacco e-liquid flavour.

There’s a lot better options available!

Device Performance

These kits are set up to deliver a mouth to lung vape and they do exactly that. The draw is quite tight – certainly tighter and more cigarette-like than a lot of other pod systems on the market.

Don’t be expecting to blow big clouds with this either, there’s a very discreet vapour production!

Vuse go reload 1000

As for ‘Extra Intense Flavour’ with the pods… Well I think we will agree to disagree on that one. I guess I’m used to very strong flavours usually from a lot of the stuff I use, but these flavours are very subtle and pretty flat I would say.

I did have issues with some of the pods gurgling when I took a puff on them and the pod is quite noisy as well when inhaling.

A 530mAh battery is built into the device which will probably do the average user a full day, but it struggled to get me into late afternoon.

This kit isn’t terribly fast at charging either. You are looking at around an hour and a half to charge the battery from flat to full!

Puff Count

Claiming that you can get 1000 puffs out of a 2ml pod is a pretty big claim to make. I’ve never got close to 1000 puffs from anything with a 2ml capacity. It’s a stretch for any of them to make 500!

As expected, I didn’t get anywhere near 1000 puffs during testing. This is a lower powered device compared to some of the kits I’ve reviewed recently, but that actually made me draw harder and longer on the device to get something out of it. And that will drastically reduce the amount of puffs that I get out of a pod.

I ripped through a blue raspberry pod in just 311 puffs, lasting me just about half a day. Getting through a pack of two pods per day could become quite costly in the long run!

After having a read through the manual, I found that 1000 puff claim was obtained by testing the device in a laboratory using a one second puff. Honestly I don’t think anyone will get anything out of this by puffing on it for a single second!

Realistically, you need a good long and slow puff on this to get anything out of it at all.

Pros

  • Flavours are quite clean and fairly decent
  • Beginner friendly, easy to use system
  • Very cheap pod system
  • Tiny form factor

Cons

  • Build quality isn’t particularly great
  • Can’t check how much e-liquid you have left without removing the pods
  • Not a huge amount of puffs out of each pod
  • Feels pretty under-powered
  • Quite noisy when you puff on it
  • Gurgling noise when taking a draw
  • Long charging time
  • Very basic design

Final Verdict

I’ve got to sum this review up by taking my ‘experienced vaper’ hat off and really summarise it for the target market of a device like the Vuse Go Reload 1000 Pod Kit.

It’s not a kit that I can recommend to more experienced vapers. The flavours aren’t exactly anything to write home about, there are far better options available for a bit more money (Vape Club have plenty of great options!). This is pretty under-powered compared to most of the popular pod systems out there.

I guess with a device like this, it’s not something that is going to be aimed at more advanced users or at those that like a bit more power in their vape. Rather, this is a kit that is aimed at people who are making the switch over to vaping from smoking. Even then there are a lot better options to consider for just a bit more money.

That end of the market will be looking for a product that is dead simple to use, offers basic flavours and most importantly doesn’t break the bank.

And the Vuse Go Reload 1000 Pod Kit ticks all of those boxes there. I mean the kit itself actually costs less than a disposable vape and it has the bonus of being able to be re-used!

Plus, there’s the convenience factor of just being able to pop to the newsagents to purchase new pods, or even pick them up from the supermarket when doing the weekly shop.

It’s a very simple device that just involves slotting a pod in and replacing it once it has run out, it is as easy as vaping gets really. The battery can be recharged plenty of times. So for just under £5 you get plenty of re-usability out of this.

Just stick to the Apple Sour or Berry Blend flavours if you are going to pick this up!

Many thanks to Vape Club for sending the Vuse Go Reload 1000 Pod Kit over for review.  This can be purchased from them for £3.99 currently with the pod packs available for £6.99 for a pack of two!

The Vype ePen 3 kit is apparently the 3rd generation of ePen!

epen 3 main image

We reviewed the original ePen back in 2014 – so this range from Vype have been going for a while and are often found “over the counter” in shops, garages and supermarkets.

Also the refills for Vype devices are easy to buy with them being stocked locally to most people – not having to wait around for vape mail.

Vype have been evolving to keep up to date with vaping trends – first joining the pod mod market with the Vype Pebble kit.

vype epen 3 bannerA pod mod is basically a small device – which uses low power – so can afford to have a smaller battery. You will usually use high nicotine strength or nic salt e-liquid in one of these devices to give you a good nicotine hit and throat hit despite the low power.

Often pod mods are ideal for those just starting vaping, giving up smoking and even some sub-ohm and more advanced vapers like a pod mod to hand for when out and about.

This is a closed pod system – which means the pod (tank) which contains the e-liquid and heating element (coil) is sealed and you cannot refill with your own liquid or replace the coil when it has deteriorated. You remove the pod, discard it and buy another! Simple.

There are not many specs on the Vype website – I suppose not wanting to get too technical and frighten off starters – however I would like to know things like the coil resistance, power output, coil material etc. It does say that the ePen 3 is more powerful at 6W rather than the 4.4W on the ePen 2.

The pods come in a pack of 2 in a range of flavours. You can also choose the nicotine strength. The vPro versions of the pods contain nic salts – very helpful for those trying to avoid cigarettes.epen 3 pod packaging

There are 5 colours to choose from – Black, Red, Gold, Blue and Silver.vype epen 3 colours

There is also a special limited edition range designed in collaboration with the British Designer Henry Holland called “Vype x House of Holland”. hoh vype epen 3

Thank you to Vype for sending this over for review – I will however report back honestly on my findings of the device in my possession.

Build Quality & Design

This is a really basic kit and I received the Red colour version.epen 3 in hand

The colour is more of a Maroon with a matt finish so not the most exciting device to look at.

It is very plain with the front sporting a recessed “Vype” logo in the same colour as the device body.epen 3 branding

The pods click into position and are extremely secure. They do not have a single wobble or any chance of falling out. In fact this has almost become a “Con” as they are quite hard to grip to remove. But for stability this is obviously a “Pro”.vype epen 3 top view

There isn’t much weight to the device even with a pod installed. It is just on the right side of not feeling cheap but it is a bit bland in my opinion. However nothing is badly made or tacky.epen 3 size comparison

Set-up Guide

The Vype ePen 3 is supplied without a pod installed.epen 3 as supplied

To start you will need to charge the battery fully and install a pod.

To help you the pod bases have colour codes for the different flavours and they also state the nicotine strength. It would be helpful to have the flavour written on the pods too.epen 3 pod colour codes

Basic operation

  • To switch on/off – 3 clicks of the fire button
  • To vape – press and hold the fire button
  • Battery charge remaining – the colour of the LED light indicates the battery charge remaining – Green = 40-100% charged, Amber (more Pink on mine!) = 10-40% charged and Red = less than 10% charge left. When the battery has fully depleted the LED will flash white 5 times and the device will turn off.
  • Auto switch off – if the device is not used for 10 minutes it will automatically switch off. Simply turn on again with 3 clicks of the fire button.
  • Charging fault = the LED will flash red rapidly whilst charging. Disconnect the device from the charger and contact Vype for assistance.
  • Charging disconnect = after 3 hours of being left on charge the device will cut off the charging. This is to prevent overcharging.
  • Other protections = there are over voltage, over current and short circuit protections. In the case of a short circuit the LED will flash red 3 times and the device will turn off.
  • 8 Second fire cut off = if the fire button is held down it will automatically cut off the firing after 8 seconds and the device will turn off.

How To Charge The Battery

  • Using the supplied Micro USB cable plug the small end into the bottom of the ePen in the USB port.epen 3 charging
  • Install the large end of the connector into a suitable USB outlet.
  • The LED will change colour as the device charges. It is fully charged when the LED stays green.

I found from empty to full charge was around 1 hour 15 mins on my PC! Excellent!

How To Change The Pod

  • Simply hold the pod and the battery and pull the pod out. There will be some resistance to removal.epen 3 pod removed
  • Prepare a new pod by removing the protective cover on the base and mouthpiece of the pod.epen 3 pod protectors
  • Install the pod into the battery. There is no wrong way round to install this as it will work either way around. Push it in firmly until you feel a “Click”.

How Does the Vype ePen 3 Kit Perform?

Flavour & Cloud Production

The Vype ePen 3 is designed to be a simple kit for those who are not very technical or who just require something easy.

Therefore this won’t be chucking out huge clouds and enough power to jump start your car.

I will be judging this mainly on flavour and throat hit – the two main requirements of this type of kit.

With all the pods I found there wasn’t much vapour –  but this was to be expected. The throat hit I found to be immense and the flavours are discussed below.

There is no bedding in time – the pods are chucking out flavour right from the first vape and of course it is super easy to change between flavours.

Blended Tobacco Pod – 18mg Nicotine (Included in Kit)

vype epen 3 blended tobaccoI have recently got back into tobacco flavour e-liquid after tasting some from the excellent Apollo nic salt range.

Sadly this is not a great example. In fact this tastes more chemically than any tobacco liquid I have ever tasted.

There is a slight hint of chocolate and coffee with an accompaniment of nail varnish remover.

Not for me really sorry Vype.

Crisp Mint Flavour Pod – 18mg Nicotine (Included in Kit)

vype epen 3 crisp mintThis pod was included in the kit and is the one with the Green bottom!

The Crisp Mint flavour is basically a menthol version ideal for people who smoke menthol cigarettes.

The taste is very very close to menthol cigarettes with an added minty sweetness and it is really lovely.

With this being a 18mg nicotine strength you can really feel the throat hit. Imagine taking too long a drag on a menthol ciggie and you can get that hit with a long inhale.

Believe me this pod is not weak or wussy. Even the most hardened long term hardcore smoker will find a hit from this.

There isn’t a massive amount of vapour but that isn’t an issue as the taste and throat hit from this pod has already done the job of feeling like inhaling on a cigarette.

Very satisfying and those partial to a menthol smoke will find this does the trick!

Fresh Apple Flavour Pod – 6mg Nicotine

vype epen 3 fresh appleLike with the Wild Berries flavour simply opening the pod packaging greets you with a really apple-y smell.

This is not a true apple – like apple pie – but more of an apple flavoured sweet taste.

There is none of the sourness you would get in a fresh apple. But the taste is still very fruity and yummy. Especially if you have a sweet tooth like me.

After a few vapes of this I found the flavour vanished quite rapidly. I think after the first wallop of apple your taste buds acclimatise to it and it then feels a bit dilute. Quite strange that.

So not quite full marks here but not a bad one either.

Infused Vanilla Flavour Pod – 6mg Nicotine

vype epen 3 infused vanillaAnyone who reads my reviews know one of my most feared flavours is Vanilla.

For a standard flavour there are so many variations. When it is good it is lovely, when it is bad it either tastes like mouldy newspapers or a vanilla air freshener.

This thankfully (phew) is one of the better Vanilla flavours.

This is sweet and creamy – rather than musty and revolting.

I feel like I am drinking an Ice Cream soda when I vape on this – the creamy ice cream is really lovely.

Wow Vype this is a winner!

Crushed Mint Flavour Pod – 18mg Nicotine Salts

vype epen 3 crushed mintThis is far colder than the Crisp mint pod and a lot more menthol.

There isn’t as much mint or sweet flavour either.

Again like the Crisp Mint this will satisfy the menthol smokers – but the taste is slightly more “watery” but with more of a cold sensation.

This is more like “Extra Strong Mints” whereas the Crisp Mint is more like a tasty sweet Spearmint.

And I will mention again this freezes your tonsils in a split second!

Wild Berries Flavour Pod – 12 and 18mg Nicotine Salts

vpro pods wild berriesEven just trying to wrestle these pods out from the hardcore packaging I get a lovely fruity smell!

These have a berry yoghurt-y type taste. They are very smooth and being nic salts are not at all harsh despite being high nicotine.

This was a bit more sour and creamy than I was expecting but still a very nice flavour but there is a perfume aftertaste left behind in your mouth.

So these are not high scorers simply because of that weird aftertaste which is quite off putting.

Master Blend Flavour Pod – 18mg Nicotine Salts

vpro pods master blendWhoa this really has a throat hit but sadly is very much like the Blended tobacco pod. Very chemically although this time there isn’t even chocolate or coffee.

Just a really musty old ashtray type of taste.

There is plenty of “OOmph” with this pod but I really dislike the tobacco flavourings that Vype are using.

Refilling Pods

Obviously it isn’t recommended to refill closed pods.

However I thought I would have a bash. The Master Blend pod was so hideous I thought I would sacrifice it to my experimenting.

Below is a layout of all of the pod components. I also recommend dismantling this over a sink as nobody needs anything on their person or furniture that smells this bad.epen 3 pod dismantle

  • The base is held in with 4 securing type tabs. I did try prising the tabs out each one at a time but that didn’t really work.
  • I found a really thin blade screwdriver worked all the way around the pod base – slowly and patiently just prising the base from the pod body worked.epen 3 pod base
  • Then you are greeted with the rubber assembly which holds the coil. There is a small cut out where you can put your screwdriver to prise this out gently.
  • Once dismantled give everything a really good rinse under the tap – I doubt that smell and taste will ever disappear but it can’t get any worse!
  • Install the coil assembly – it will only push in fully one way around so if you are having issues remove it and turn it 180°.
  • There is a tiny little fill hole in the rubber assembly and if you are lucky your 10ml bottle spout will fit in there and you can refill. It is a bit of a guess how much liquid you are putting in!epen 3 refilling
  • Replace the base with the base “prong” fitting into the filling hole. Make sure everything is fully secured.
  • I would leave the pod to stand upright on a tissue for a few hours to check it is not leaking before installing into the device.

If there is still some moisture in the pod your first few vapes will be just burning this off so you might not get much vapour, flavour and some popping.

My first 6 vapes were just the moisture clearing. Then I started getting my flavour and vapour coming through. I used the Apollo Nic Salt Tobacco flavour.

The taste was still sadly tainted by the vile original liquid but it is way way better than it was!

Battery Life

At 650mAh this is a pretty decent battery capacity when you see the size of the device.

To give you a rough idea using the 6mg Vanilla pod I got over 5 hours of very heavy vaping. If using the stronger nicotine or nic salts pods you will be vaping a lot less as you will get a nic hit far quicker.

Pros

  • Replacement pods available in lots of outlets – corner shops, petrol stations, supermarkets etc.
  • Good quality feel
  • No rattles and pod is held securely
  • LED indicator to inform of battery life
  • Great throat hit and airflow
  • No malfunctions or leaks
  • Super easy to operate and use
  • Can refill the pods if you want to have a tinker!
  • Couple of great flavours
  • Surprisingly good battery life!
  • Quick charging

Cons

  • Quite difficult to pull pods out of device – hard to grip
  • Slightly dull looks – but that is just my opinion
  • Tobacco flavours are very chemically and unpleasant.
  • More expensive in the long term than a pod kit you fill yourself. Plus you are restricted to the flavours and strengths Vype supply only.
  • Have to remove pod to see liquid level remaining and that isn’t easy as the pods are heavily frosted.

Final Review Verdict

This is as simple as vaping gets. A fire button and a slide in pod. No refilling, no adjustments and no messy business of installing coils.

The Vype ePen 3, whilst looking a bit bland and yawny in my opinion, was solid and well built and that did inspire confidence in the performance.

I found the throat hit and flavour levels to be great – this should really satisfy a hardcore smoker who mistakenly believes e-cigs are a bit wussy. This really does give your throat a bashing but not in a bad way.

I do recommend that a new vaper avoids the tobacco flavours as they are not going to be very satisfying and could actually put someone off vaping.

This kit would be ideal for someone who wants a simple vape and the ability to just pop into a supermarket to buy supplies.

Anyone else who has used other devices and likes other brands of e-liquid would find this a bit disappointing. The flavours are the main let down with this kit but there are a couple of good ones!

The device performed perfectly and I had no leaks or malfunctions – so in theory the device is great.

Please don’t be put off by the standard tobacco flavours – they do not represent all the tobacco e-liquids on the market now – some are lovely and rich. These taste and smell of old ashtrays and even the battered taste buds of a smoker will not find these very impressive.

vype-pebble-kit-colours

So Vype are obviously promoting their latest ‘pod mod’ to the younger vapers out there. As a hip ‘down with the kids’ grandad it goes without saying I was the obvious choice to review it.

For those not in the know a ‘pod mod’ is a disposable closed system vaping device where a cartridge is snapped onto the battery.

They are clean – easy to operate and are perfect for everyday out and about vaping.

You can see the best pod mod vapes here. But come back to that later, we have a Pebble review to be getting on with!

The Vype Pebble

So is my review of the Vype Pebble Kit ‘Written in the Stars’ and am I ‘Not Letting Go’ of this little vaping gizmo [thanks Google] let’s take a look.

This product was received free of charge for the purposes of review. As always our views are our own.

In The Box

It’s a functional slide out sleeve packaging – and again we see that ridiculous TPD warning label on the front.

vype-pebble-kit

  • 1x Pebble device
  • 1x Pebble refill cartridge: Golden Tobacco
  • 1x USB charging cable
  • 1x Pebble user guide

There’s not a lot in the box if I’m honest – you get the battery – the charger – the e-liquid pod and small instruction manual.

vype-pebble-contents

As you can see I received the neon lime ‘lizard green’ version – other colours include: black – yellow – red and blue.

Key Features

Like all the closed system pod mods the key features are simplicity – ease of use and leak free ‘pod’ changes.

vype-pebble-pod

All you need to do with the Pebble is snap the cartridge on – press the fire button for one second and vape away – there’s no need to hold the fire button down.

I only received an 18mg nicotine Golden Tobacco flavoured cartridge included with the kit – so I can’t comment on the other refill flavours:

  • Fresh Apple
  • Master Blend [tobacco]
  • Smooth Vanilla
  • Tingling Mint
  • Wild Berries

vype-pebble-connections

The pods are available in a variety of nicotine strengths ranging from zero to 18mgs.

Design and Build Quality

To all intents and purposes the Vype Pebble looks exactly like one of those hi-lighter pens if a little flattened out.

It’s well-made if a little plasticcy – and snaps together well but without that satisfying click other closed systems I’ve tried have.

Might sound silly but without that ‘click’ you do instinctively check that it’s in place.

vype-pebble-in-hand

Not sure if it’s just the one I’ve received but the mouthpiece is extremely wobbly which means sometimes the connections don’t quite meet and you can get a fresh air vape.

In order to get a decent vape I found myself having to literally push the device hard against my lips to complete the seal – very annoying.

Getting the pod off can be a pain too.

Vype has added little grippy bits on the side of the cartridge which are tiny and offer little if any grip and given the mouthpiece is curved your fingers do slip when pulling the pod off.

Design wise it’s certainly striking to look at with the coloured batteries against the black mouthpiece looking very smart.

It’s slim and light as feather meaning it will slip into your pocket or bag with ease.

How Does the Vype Pebble Perform?

OK mine arrived with hardly any battery life and took a little over an hour to fully charge up which seems a long time for something so small.

There’s no LED screen just a light with the usual flashing red meaning your battery is dead – right up to solid green meaning it’s fully powered.

vype-pebble-battery

There’s a few safety features including auto cut-out after 8 seconds of vaping – if it’s left untouched for 10 minutes the Pebble shuts down as it does after 3 hours of charging.

Using the 18mg nicotine Golden Tobacco cartridge my first few inhales were nothing to write home about – I really had to work at it.

Half an hour in and my head was spinning – I felt like I could ‘Pass Out’ [thanks again Google] with the effort the Vype Pebble was making me put into getting a decent hit.

You’d think 18mg nicotine would give a good throat hit too – sadly it didn’t and the taste wasn’t very nice either.

Vapour wise things were a little better with about the same amount as a normal cigarette – once I’d puffed on it a few times that is.

However, the smell was really quite horrible smelling of stale cigarettes – oh dear this review isn’t going to well is it.

What I Like

If I’m honest – I mean really really honest – there’s not much I like about the Vype Pebble.

OK if I lighten up a little – the design is fun and the mouthpiece [when it stops wobbling around] actually feels nice in my mouth.

What I Don’t Like

I really don’t like the wobble on the mouthpiece and the longer I’ve used the stock cartridge/pod the looser it’s got meaning more than a few ‘fresh air’ vapes.

Even at 18mg nicotine the throat hit most MTL vapers and those new to vaping look for just isn’t there.

Whilst any e-liquid flavour is a relative thing – some love it some hate it – the Golden Tobacco tasted and indeed smelled like ‘stale’ cigarettes.

You can’t vape whilst charging and in the few days I’ve been vaping on it the battery – despite Vype suggesting otherwise – barely lasts half a day.

Also – and whilst I said the design is cool and funky – it does look like an item from a ladies make-up bag – again that’s just my impression 😉

Price-wise, it’s quite expensive for what you’re getting – though to balance that out x2 refill pods are not wallet busters.

Final Review Verdict

The Vype Pebble kit is a classic case of style over substance in my humble vaping opinion.

Sure it looks modern and with the neon colours it will indeed appeal to the younger vapers out there – but there are much much better alternatives.

Sooo…

If I was at a Tinie Tempah concert [as if lol] and whilst moshing in the ‘Mosh Pit’ [thanks again Google] and the Pebble dropped out of my pocket – would I scrabble around looking for it at the risk of getting trampled to death?

No – I’d just ‘Let Go’ 😉

Pros

  • Small compact and sleek
  • Tinie Tempah likes it

Cons

  • Wobbly mouthpiece
  • Barely any throat hit
  • Pricey
  • No pass through vaping

The Vype eBox is the latest and most advanced e cig device from Nicoventures, a subsidary of British American Tobacco.vype ebox review

The eBox offers a tank system e cig to cater to vapers that want a little more control from their vape devices. This follows on from other e-cig starter kits such as the Vype ePen 3, eStick and eTank.

Vype What Can We Expect From The eBox by Vype?

The eBox is what’s classed as an all in one (AIO) device. This basically means that the tank sits within the body of the e cig.

Despite it’s compact size it features an impressive 2000mAh battery. The tank comes with replaceable coil heads and can be filled from the top (top-fill).

Vype e cigs are targeted more towards new vapers and while the eBox is more advanced, it is still a fairly basic device when compared to the vape options out there.

Basic isn’t a bad thing though if it’s done well. So, does the Vype eBox offer an improved addition to their product line-up? Let’s find out.

This kit was sent for free for the purposes of this review. As always our views are our own.

In The Box

  • 1 X Vype eBox
  • 1 X Glass vape tank
  • 1 X 2.1 Ohm Atomiser coil
  • 1 X 10ml Dark Cherry eLiquid bottle (10ml)
  • 1 X USB charging cable
  • 1 X User manual

Features

  • 4-12W Power Output
  • 2000 mAh battery capacity
  • Side by side mod/tank
  • Top Fill, 2ml Tank
  • Built in safety features (Auto cut off, Temperature & Voltage Protection, Charge cut off)

Design and Build Quality

The Vype eBox is a compact device that has a ‘side by side’ design similar to the likes of the Smoant Knight V1 and Tesla Stealth mods.

Side by side is just one description that simply refers to the design feature where the tank sits on the side of the vape mod rather than on the top.vype ebox

I for one really like this type of design as it offers a nice compact mod that is easy to carry around in the pocket.

My hands aren’t the biggest but I found the eBox sat well in the palm and the rubberised finish makes it a pleasure to hold for extended periods of time.vype ebox e cig review

The mod looks the part as well. I’m all for clean lines and minimum fuss when it comes to mod design and Vype haven’t disappointed with the eBox.

The top of the vape mod features a clean and simple OLED screen that shows battery life, current wattage, coil resistance and current voltage. The OLED screen only appears when one of the buttons on the side of the mod are pressed.vype ebox oled

Theses buttons are well set in the side of the mod with no rattle. The power button sits above the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ function buttons. We will discuss more in the next section on what these buttons offer in terms of functionality.vype ebox in hand

The base of the mod features an /on/off switch. So if you are here looking at why your Vype eBox doesn’t work, be sure you have switched it on! Easy mistake to make!

The micro USB slot is located on the end at the bottom of the mod. So you can stand the device upright when charging.

Vype Tank

The tank screws into place in the side of the mod. All threading was quality and screwed in with ease.vype ebox tank

How To Fill The Vype eBox Tank

  • Remove the tank from the mod
  • Unscrew the top section of the tank
  • Fill with e liquid upto the 2ml juice line
  • Screw the top section back on
  • Important: Don’t vape for at least 5 minutes. This will allow enugh time for the e liquid to soak into the coil. If you jump the gun the cotton could burn and the coil will be unusable!vype ebox tank threading

Replacing the coil head

The coil head looks similar to that of the Innokin Endura T22 and T18 kit. To remove and replace simply do the following:

  • Unscrew the base section of the tank
  • Remove the top section of the tank
  • Pull the coil head out through the bottom of the tank
  • Push fresh coil back into the tank. Be sure the coil head is inserted correctly and aligned.
  • Replace base section
  • Refill tank (see above)
  • Replace top section

All very easy to operate. One thing I would recommend, especially if you are a new vaper, is to practice taking the tank apart and putting it back together BEFORE filling with e-liquid.

Overall, the Vype eBox is a solid, well put together mod.

How Does The Vype eBox perform?

First let’s take a quick look at the function button and what they do.

  • On/Off – Press fire button 3 times in quick succession to turn on and off
  • Press ‘+’ and ‘-‘ function buttons to scroll through wattage settings.
  • Press ‘+’ and ‘-‘ function buttons together – This shows puff count (resets when mod is turned off)

That is pretty much it. Very simple, built for new users in mind.

Selecting Wattage

When you have filled your tank and you are ready to go which wattage should you vape at?

This is all down to personal preference. I settled on the max 12W as I prefer a slightly warmer vape.

If you go below 7W you won’t get much at all, this is normal. Just have a play around and once you have found your setting you’re good to go.vype ebox setup

Flavour and Vapour

The Dark Cherry e liquid in the kit was good. The cherry came through well although there was a hint of menthol in there (I think) which I wasn’t expecting. It added a cooling to the vape on the exhale that I personally enjoyed.

I am used to sub ohm vaping with tanks such as the Aspire Cleito Pro and while the Vype eBox isn’t going to match that for flavour of clouds I found it good considering the max 12W power the box offers.

The vapour volume is just average, but again this is compared to the best box mods and tanks I use on a regular basis.

If this is your first vape device or you are stepping up from one of the other Vype e cigs then it will be just fine.

The one big issue I had was with how hard the actual bottle was to squeeze. It’s solid. In the end I had to literally pull the entire top cap off the bottle to get at the juice!

Airflow

There is an adjustable airflow ring at the base of the tank which is easy to turn and operate. I didn’t, personally, find that it made too much difference to the vape.

Closing the airflow with give a slightly warmer vape but in terms of vapour volume and flavour there isn’t much in it.

Overall, as a mouth to lung vape tank, it performed well and I didn’t get any leaking.

Why Does My Vype eBox Say ‘Check Atomiser’?vype ebox check atomiser

This is something that I encountered a couple of times and a message that can indicate a ‘short’ issue with your tank.

I found an easy fix for this though, should you encounter the same.

All I did was remove the tank, turn off the mod, replace the tank and turn it back on. This, for me seemed to sort things out.

What I Like

The form factor and build quality of the Vype eBox is very good. The soft touch, rubberised finish is a pleasure to hold.

The eBox is also small enough to take out and about and slip in and out of your pocket without getting in the way.

It’s also very easy for new vapers to use straight out of the box and offers good flavour.

What I Don’t Like

Th eBox is targeted toward newer vapers so with that in mind there isn’t a huge amount not to like.

There are four things that would make this even better.

The first would be to offer a removable/replaceable drip tip for those that don’t get on well with stainless steel in their mouths.

The second would be to design the tank so that the coil head can be replaced without having to empty the tank.

The third would be to include a spare coil. If a new user makes a mistake with the coil by accidentally dry burning the cotton in the coil they have no back up.

Last but not least, the Vype e liquid bottles are the hardest I have ever come across. I ended up having to take the whole top of the bottle to get at the juice.

Neither are negatives, just possible improvements.

Final Review Verdict

Pros

  • Very easy for new vapers to use
  • Kit comes with eveything you need to start
  • Performance is good for the level of device
  • Tank and coils produce good flavour
  • Compact, portable device
  • Very good quality

Cons

  • Only comes with one coil
  • Fixed drip tip
  • Juice bottle very difficult to squeeze!

Vype ePen – The Future of Vaping?

Update – Check the latest Vype ePen 3 review here.

I have reviewed a number of Vype products in the past, each one gradually getting that little bit better as they evolve, their latest cig-a-like release was called the eStick which when compared to their initial releases was a much improved product.

They have also recently enter the ‘box mod‘ market with the Vype eBox.

Their latest product is called the Vype ePen, which as the name suggest is targeting the vape pen e cig market.

It’s interesting to see where the BAT owned e cig brand would go in terms of bigger battery devices after the proposed regulations by the European Parliament. After receiving the ePen could this be a glimpse into the future of e cigarettes? Is this a product that takes a step closer to fitting within TPD regulation guidelines?

Is it good enough to land a place on our recommended vape pen list?

Let’s take a closer look.

In the box / Presentation

Vype present their e cigarettes in a uniform way across product lines with the acrylic case. It all looks good, neat and tidy. Inside the ePen kit you will find:

  • 1 x Rechargeable 650 mAh battery
  • 2 x ePen Caps (refill cartomisers)
  • 1 x Hygiene mouthpiece cap
  • USB Charger

Battery/Build/Design

The first thing about the Vype ePen is that it is unlike the majority of other pen style e cigs on the market. There was a device I remember called the E-Lips (I think that was the name) that comes closest but that never really took off.  Vype E Pen Review

The ePen is like an EGO battery that has been flattened slightly into an oval shape. The feel in the hand is a familiar rubberised soft touch material but the device feels a little ‘plasticy’ and light weight.

The battery has a 650 mAh capacity that gave me around 5-6 hours of use which is as expected for a battery this size. The threading, unsurprisingly, will only fit Vype cartridges.

Shape of the Vype E PenThe battery itself has two power buttons each providing two voltage settings. As described in the Vype instructions – “Press and hold the ‘double arrow’ for more vapour, press and hold the ‘single arrow’ for less vapour”.

I suppose I need to take into account that this is for new vapers or their existing customers making the switch from their cig-a-like range so simplicity is probably at the forefront of their mind and rightly so.

There is no mention of what the two different voltages are but I suppose the above instruction kind of explains it all in a ‘that’s all you need to know’ kind of way!

The difference between the two voltage settings isn’t, for me, that noticeable. Yeah, the higher voltage button does sound like it’s putting more leg work into heating the e-liquid and gives a touch more vapour but the flavour difference is negligible.

The only real difference will come in running the battery down quicker if the higher voltage button is used consistently.

Vype ePen E Cigarette

The 3 click on/off function is also there which does of course come in handy and the actual buttons themselves provide a satisfactory ‘click’ when pressed.

Spare / Replacement batteries

Vype have made available spare parts with the ePen which is a welcome addition, a spare battery can be bought.

If you are considering this electronic cigarette I would recommend buying a spare straight away as back up and to use in rotation.

This just ensures you aren’t caught short with a dead battery.

Overall – The Vype ePen battery is a strange device for me. I’m all for change and new innovative products but the execution of this leaves a little to be desired. The two voltage buttons aren’t really necessary and it just all feels a little lightweight which thinking about it may be a plus point for many, especially new users.

Vapour / Flavour

The Vype ePen kit comes with two Blended Tobacco cartridge/cartomiser refills or Refill Caps as Vype calls them. They hold 1.5ml of e-liquid and are not refillable.

The ePen uses a cartomiser type design that has the atomiser built into the base.

Vype cartridge refill for epen

It looks like Vype have produced a cartridge that would fit in with regulations, it is under the maximum 2ml capacity for a tank and it also looks as though it has been designed so as to prevent any leakage.

The latter is a good thing for sure, I had a good play around with the cartridge and not one drop of e-liquid anywhere but inside the container.

This, of course, ensures the cartridges cannot be refilled although I’m sure there will be ways around it, those that would want to do that though probably wouldn’t go for this device in the first place.

I guess that is the whole point of having something of this type of design that users cannot compromise and risk liquid getting all over the place.

So, once you have screwed the cartridge onto the battery comes the ‘ePen Top’. This is a sleeve that sits over the cartridge that has a hole in the end of which you draw through.

The addition of the sleeve finishes the whole look of the e cig off but if I’m being picky I’m not a fan of vaping through the rubberised plastic end. That’s a personal preference though and may not be an issue for others.

ePen mouthpiece

Performance

The ePen I have to say performs well, the Blended Tobacco flavour is OK, not the best I have tried but not offensive and the amount of vapour produced is pretty good.

I just can’t get my head around what ultimately reminds me of something my doctor would prescribe to help me quit cigs. Take 3 drags, 8 times a day Mr Williams. It just has that kind of feel for me.

My other half, on the other hand wanted to pee on it, I told her it wasn’t a pregnancy test. The brief argument was settled by taking a quick drag, she looked horrified until I blew out a cloud of vapour.

Vype looks like a pregnancy testing kit

Refills

Refills are available in a pack of three. There are just the three flavour options and one nicotine strength available as I write. Cherry, Blended Tobacco and Crisp Mint.

Prices are more expensive than the equivalent amount of e-liquid but these are of course pre-filled.

The prices are on the expensive side, it would be more reasonable to see packs of 5 cartridges for the same price.

Overall – The blended tobacco flavour was decent and the vapour volume good. The caps only hold 1.5ml of e-liquid though which heavy vapers will get through pretty rapid and with the prices for 4.5ml of e-liquid it could be just on the wrong side of expensive.

Returns/Warranty

Vype do have a 28 day refund policy if you are not happy with the product.

Customer Service

Vype are available through a free phone number (UK), email and are also active on Facebook and Twitter. I also used their live chat system on site and had my questions answered within 3 minutes which is great.

Overall Vype ePen Review Verdict

I personally couldn’t shake the feeling that the Vype ePen was like using some sort of medical device prescribed to me by my GP or found on the shelf in the birth control section of Boots.

It has of course been devised to comply with the TPD rules and regs and from first glance I think it does this or at least it’s the closest I have seen.

It all just felt too sterile and I have to say it just didn’t work out for me, it wasn’t an e cig I particularly liked.

Having said that, this isn’t targeted to existing vapers. New users that want a ‘plug and play’, ‘set it and forget it’ type of e cig that has more power than a cig-a-like then this isn’t a bad choice as it’s super simple to use. You may only use it as an introductory e cig but If it gets you to ditch the cigs then that’s got to be a good thing.

Here are a few takeaway points.

Good

  • Tobacco flavour was decent and vapour volume was good
  • Would be more suited to light/moderate smokers making the switch
  • No leaking from the cartridge
  • UK Made e-liquid
  • Pretty much a ‘Press and play’ setup that is clean and super easy for new users to get to grips with

Not so good

  • All feels to much like some sort of medical device
  • According to my other half it looks like a pregnancy test.
  • Too much of a lightweight plastic feel for my personal preference
  • Vaping through a plastic tip long term is not for me
  • The 1.5ml capacity cartridges are small and heavy vapers may have an issue with the cost of these.
  • Refills cost
  • The two voltage options are not much use.
  • Heavy smokers may still struggle with the life of the refills, they may find they are using a large quantity.

Is this a glimpse at what the future of vaping could be like if and when the regulations come into play?

It seems Vype are releasing new e cigarette kits in pretty quick succession recently with the latest being the Vype eStick.

The first review we carried out was of the Vype Disposable, their first e cig.

The second was the Vype Reload which addressed the need for a rechargeable battery and was a definite improvement.

With the resources of BAT behind them I would expect them to get the product spot on.

The Vype ePen 3 is the latest review and the best of the vype range.

What we are looking at today is the new kit that looks to offer an improved vaping experience all round. Read on for our hands on Vype eStick review.

In the box / Presentation

Vype do presentation very well, there has obviously been considerable care taken on this front. The eStick comes in a very tidy case that contains the following:

  • 1 x Rechargeable battery
  • Portable Charging Case
  • 3 x Cartomisers
  • USB Charger

Battery/Responsiveness

The signature style of Vype is to keep a realistic look and feel to their electronic cigarette and that is something they do very well indeed.

The look and size of the e cig is pretty much identical to a cig with the weight, while heavier, being the nearest you are going to get to the real thing.

There are two colour options, black & white, the former of course won’t quite have the same aesthetic effect.

Vype Battery and refill cartomiserWith the small size comes impaired performance (when compared with other e cig brands) but this really doesn’t and shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Remember the battery is contained in the main body of the e cig which is of course very small.

It does react well when taking a drag so no problem on that front although there is a small issue I found which I will cover below in the ‘Vapour/Flavour’ section.

Vype Reload E Cig Size Comparison

So I mentioned the poor battery life, now lets look at the portable charging case (PCC) that does help somewhat with this problem.

PCC functionality and Performance

This is of course where the real improvement comes into play with the introduction of a PCC.

In short a PCC allows you to charge a battery when you are on the move as well as carry around spare cartomiser refills.

The previous Vype Reload e cig required the batteries to be charged directly via a USB outlet.

The same slick looks of the case have been kept although this is slightly bigger due to the addition of the battery in the pack.

It also feels solid but is still highly portable sliding in and out of pockets and bags with ease.

I have use a fair few PCC’s of all shapes and sizes but this is different to others I have come across in the way that the batteries are charged. Vype case for recharging batteries

To charge the battery in the Vype PCC you simply slot the battery, tip down, into the charging slot and close the lid.

A blue ring light will illuminate around the e cig to indicate a charge is underway and one to four lights will illuminate on the front of the pack to let you know how much power the actual pack has left. The PCC worked perfectly.

One thing I will say though is be sure to get into a routine of keeping the case fully charged!

Also when you have finished using the e cig just pop it back on charge. This should make sure the e cig battery is always charged.

Spare / Replacement batteries

This is where things are let down somewhat. For some reason Vype don’t sell (at the time of writing) spare batteries on their own.

The only option you have is to buy a brand new starter kit. The kit itself isn’t badly priced but if all you need is a battery the full kit is overkill. Not to mention wasteful in terms of product.

This is an area that I personally think needs addressing.

Overall – The Vype batteries are very close in looks and size to a real e cigarette and while this results in poor battery life the new PCC does go some way to remedy this. The PCC functions very well and looks great.

The big downfall for me is that there is no option to buy spare batteries. If your battery dies you have to buy a full kit which is not a great way to go.

Vapour / Flavour

The Vype eStick kit has three Tobacco flavoured ‘eTips’ (12.5mg nicotine) included in the pack. No choice in the flavour you start with but for most smokers trying e cigarettes for the first time the flavour should be fine.

Vype eStick review In terms of looks the refill tips are available on white or black to match your choice of battery colour.

They also have the effect of being a soft tip filter that the majority of other e ig brands don’t have.

Again this adds to the familiarity of a cigarette. If you prefer the orange flecked filter design you have the option of buying the older Reload cartridges. For me personally the white is just fine.

I tried all of the flavours available, Cherry, Blended Tobacco and Crisp Mint.

  • I found the tobacco to be a very good version and gave a decent throat hit and OK vapour volume.
  • The Cherry was also very good, there wasn’t the overly sweet flavour you can sometimes get, this is a dark cherry that has deeper cherry flavour. I found this very easy to vape all day.
  • The Crisp Mint gave a nice subtle mint aftertaste that worked well with a nice thoat hit, good flavour and vapour volume.

My favourite from the three on offer? I would say the Cherry would be my go to flavour. Of course tastes differ for everyone so you may well think differently.

If you do let me know in the review section below.

How Does The Vype Estick Perform?

I had an issue with both the Tobacco and Cherry flavours in that when taking a drag the draw was very airy and required primer drags to get it going. There is a way to rectify this, if you cover one of the holes where the cartridge attaches to the battery this tightens up the draw. It’s just not ideal when you have to so this. I didn’t have any of these issues though with the Crisp Mint cartridge though so maybe it was just the cartridges I received.
Vype RefillRegarding the life of the refills, this is difficult to gauge due to the fact that everyone vapes differently. I personally found the life to be just OK. The size of the refills are tiny and when comparing to the results you get from the likes of Green Smoke and Jacvapour there is really no comparison, the latter two last a lot longer.

  • Quality Vype e-liquids are made in lab conditions within the UK.
  • Refills When it comes to replacing the eTips Vype has them available in a pack of 4. This is far better value than the price they were previously but is still, in terms of refill life/price, some way behind the other brands previously mentioned. Vype do also offer a free pack when you buy 5 so that’s the way to go if you don’t mind buying in bulk.

Overall – The flavours are very good, providing plenty of vapour. Some could argue at the lack of flavours but I think for Vype’s target customer three is plenty.

Prices have improved, the only real downside I experienced was an airy draw but this can be rectified easily enough.

Returns/Warranty

I for any reason you are not happy with the Vype eStick you can return within 14 days for your money back.

Customer Service

Vype are available through a free phone number (UK), email and are also active on Facebook and Twitter.

Overall Vype eStick Review Verdict

The Vype eStick has a lot going for it and as an e cig package is definitely an improvement on their previous offerings but with the resources of BAT behind them I would expect nothing less.

For me it isn’t near however, being the best e cig in the UK. Here is a simple breakdown of the good and not so good points I found.

Good

  • Realistic looks and size when comparing to a cigarette (Can be very important for smokers making the switch)
  • Portable Charging case works very well and looks great
  • All the flavours are very good (for my taste buds at least!)
  • Well suited for light – moderate smokers
  • Starter kit price is good

Not so good

  • Cannot buy replacement batteries – Need to buy a whole new starter kit
  • Due to their size, refill eTips don’t last as long as other e cigarette brands available
  • I had some issues with ‘airy draws’ with two of the flavours
  • No option to buy different nicotine strengths. Something I think is important for those wishing to cut down on nicotine intake
  • Heavy smokers may still struggle with the life of the refills, they may find they are using a large quantity.

Vape Starter Kit Guide

Our Vype Disposable review a few months back provided some mixed reactions from us from, we enjoyed the flavour but ultimately it was expensive for a disposable e cigarette that didn’t last that long.

Vype Reloaded – Does the rechargeable Vype make for an improved vaping experience?

Fast forward a few months and Vype have released a rechargeable version of their e cigarette that should eradicate the issue of the poor e cig life. Or does it?

We popped on over to the Vype website and purchased the Vype Reload Regular kit, read on for our review.

Latest: Vype ePen 3 vape review

Vype Reload ReviewIn the box / Presentation

The Vype Reload is really well presented in a simple display carton that contains the following:

  • 2 x Rechargeable batteries
  • Flip top carry casse
  • 2 x Cartomisers
  • USB Charger

Battery/Responsiveness

Vype are trying to make the switch for smokers as easy as possible, in this wemean they are keeping the look and feel as realistic as possible with their Vype e cig design.

The battery has the familiar ringed body, red glowing tip and even feels quite light weight (for an e cigarette) in the hand.

They have certainly achieved the realistic look they were going for and is the most realistic looking ‘cig-a-like’ I have tried.

Vype Reload E Cig Size ComparisonThe battery performance itself is a game of two halves. On the one hand it reacts well when taking a drag but on the other the battery life is very poor.

Does that come as a surprise? No definitely not, this is after all one of the smallest e cig batteries currently available and battery life is of course the first thing to suffer when e cigs are made this small.

Vype Reload E CigThis is obviously the reason why they made an alternative to their disposable e cigarette, once that ran out of power the only option was to throw it away and start again which would prove to be quite an expensive practice in the long run.

At least with the Vype Reload you can recharge the battery to use again.

This does make this a more viable option when compared with the disposable but issues still remain.

The battery life does still pose a problem despite the ability to recharge. I found I was having to recharge after around an hour of use.

The problem comes if you are away from a computer/laptop for lengthy periods of time as you need to use the USB port to charge your e cig.

There are of course two batteries that you can keep in the carry case but even then both of them will run out fairly quickly depending on how much you vape.

For light smokers switching to e cigs you may just about get away with it but moderate/heavy smokers making the switch are going to have a real problem.

If however you are just using this at home or in the office while near or using a computer then you can rotate your batteries or even just put the battery back on to charge in between using it.

When it comes to buying replacement batteries there is no option on the site (at the time of writing) that I can see where you can buy them.

This just leaves buying the starter kit again which I would say isn’t ideal but with the price of the cartomisers it may just be a more economical option as the starter kit includes 2 cartomiser refills and two batteries.

Overall – Vype is the most realistic looking ‘cig-a-like’ e cigarette available on the market but the small size does effect the longevity of the batteries. Moderate to heavy smokers will find they are running out of power on an all to regular basis.

Vapour / Flavour

The Vype Reload starter kit comes with two Classic Regular flavoured cartomisers, this is the only option with the kit but when buying cartomiser refills separately you can choose from Bold (16.8mg nicotine), Regular (11.3mg nicotine) and Menthol (11.4mg nicotine).

Vype Reload RefillsMy first impression when I took the e cig out of the packaging was that these are the smallest cartomisers I have ever come across!

They really are tiny!

They have kept on with the cig-a-like theme with the refills not only looking like a filter with the speckled finish but also featuring a ‘soft filter’.

The cartomiser does have movement in it for sure but it is on the firm side so don’t expect it to be as soft as a cigarette.

The fitting differs from other e cigs as well. Most e cig brands require you to screw the cartomiser into the battery, with Vype they have what I can only describe as a bayonet fitting that you get with light bulbs. Push it in and turn to the right to secure the cartomiser in place, works well I must admit.

ECOpure E-Liquid

Vype use Ecopure e-liquid (made by the company behind Intellicig e cigarettes) in their e cigs which is no bad thing, I personally really like their tobacco and menthol flavours and they produce a good amount of vapour as well.

The good thing about Ecopure is that their ingredients are sourced in the EU and are manufactured in Bioscience labs in Manchester University. The e-liquid is also produced in batches that is certified and traceable.

So I really have no issues with the flavour, vapour production and the fact that the e-liquid is produced in a professional and clean environment is a definite plus. But does this mean that they have knocked this one out of the park?

Well…. no not quite.

As mentioned before these are the smallest cartomisers I have ever come across in an e cig, they are about an inch long.

My first thought was that these are going to last about 5 minutes! And although I may be exaggerating a little there the life of the refills is very poor.

Referring to the Vype website again they do state a life of around 250 puffs (in lab testing) but this is way off the mark for normal vapers.

In my testing, not in a lab, I got around 90-100 puffs before the flavour started to diminish and the vapour started to dry up.

Vype Cartomiser Refill

Disappointing but AGAIN I didn’t expect anything more due to the size of the cartomisers. It does all depend on how you vape and you may indeed get more ‘puffs’ out of your e cig, I would love to know how long your cartomisers lasted so please leave a comment below and let me know.

When coming to buy replacement cartomisers they are sold in packs of two. This is I found was the most disappointing thing of all as they are very expensive. They do offer discounts for bulk purchases but the best deal will see you forking out for 5 packs which is just 10 cartomisers in total.

It would be a lot easier to swallow if they provided at least 5 in a pack or better still just increase the capacity of the cartomisers so they last longer. I realise this would mean making the carry case a touch longer as well but as it stands at the minute they just don’t last long enough.

Overall – I really like the ECOpure flavours and the vapour volume produced is also good. The size of the cartomiser refills however are tiny. This of course means that they run empty very quickly.

This may not be a huge problem if the price to buy replacement refills wasn’t so high but unfortunately they are.

Returns/Warranty

Vype offer a 14 day return on their electronic cigarettes.

Customer Service

Vype are available through a free phone number (UK), email and are also active on Facebook and Twitter.

Final Verdict

The Vype Reload for me have missed an opportunity somewhere along the line here. The product itself from the presentation of the packaging, carry case and the e cig itself is very good quality, certainly looks the part.

The ECOpure e-liquid is definitely one of the better tasting tobacco flavoured e-liquids I have tried in pre-filled cartomisers. So where did it go wrong?

Unfortunately with a cig-a-like e cigarette that is the same size as a cigarette, you have to compromise somewhere. The Vype Reload has compromised on the life of both the battery and the cartomiser.

The battery could, I guess, be forgiven to an extent but the cartomiser refills really don’t last long enough. I was getting around 90-100 puffs before they started to fade out. Forgivable if the cartomisers were priced to accommodate this.

The only thing that would make this a viable option would be to include more cartomisers in their standard packs, at least 5 but to keep up with what other brands offer then it would need to be around the 7-10 mark.

Vype would also do very well to introduce a portable charging case, or what is better known as a PCC.

With the small size of their batteries and cartomisers they could come up with a unique cool looking case that would not only help solve the battery issue but would also allow for more cartomisers to be carried around with you.

So to sum up…. If you are a moderate to heavy smoker then you may struggle to make this work long term due to both the life and price of the cartomisers, you would be more suited to a vape pen or if you still insist on a cig-a-like then choose between Vapour2 Cigs and the ePuffer Magnum Snaps.

If however you are an occasional/light smoker that will only use an e cig intermittently throughout the day or even the week then this could do a job for you.

Back in December 2012 BAT acquired CN Creative who are a ‘Bioscience’ company that produce Intellicig e cigs and Ecopure e-liquid with the aim to enter into the e cigarette market. The Vype electronic cigarette is the product they have released to the market.

Now it’s a bit of a strange one for me reviewing this e cig. As many smokers turned vapers will probably agree, one of the Big Tobacco companies producing e cigarettes just seems kind of wrong.

The fact that there are also proposals that will restrict the sale of e cigs and ‘possibly’ play into the hands of the big corporate tobacco manufacturers is without doubt a massive concern not only for vapers but for the small businesses that have been the driving force behind this growing industry.

Having said that this is an e cig review site and I was interested to see what the product was actually like.

I purchased all 3 of the e cigs they have on offer, all disposable, and I’m going to review the product as I would any other e cig product. So how does this stack up to the best e cigarettes on offer?

vype-reviewIn the box / Presentation

The Vype e cigs come in individual plastic flip top lid carry cases that are small enough to carry in the pocket without getting in the way. Each colour coded to identify each flavour.

In the case you will find:

  • 1 Disposable electronic cigarette
  • 1 instruction sheet

Battery/Responsiveness

The actual e cigarette itself as a whole is exactly the same size as a tobacco cigarette and feels very lightweight in the hand compared to other disposables I have tried. They have even gone so far as to wrap the battery in paper and use a ‘soft filter’. Their efforts of replicating a tobacco cigarette have paid off as this is by far the most realistic I have tried to date, red glowing tip included.

vype-cigarette-size-comparisonWhether the complete replica cigarette is a good thing though I’m not so sure, but if you were to look at the Vype e cig as a ‘Quit Smoking’ aid (which is what they will most likely be aiming for by 2016) then I guess it fits the bill to make everything as seamless as possible for smokers.

Onto the actual performance of the battery itself, as would be expected from such a small device, this doesn’t last long at all. It lasted me around 110-120 puffs before the light started blinking and no more vapour was produced.

The Vype website states that the battery will last for around 130 puffs, so not far off the mark depending on your personal vaping habits and as we have seen from other e cig vendors no wild claims of 200+ puffs per e cig.

Having said that if you are a heavy smoker switching to e cigarettes and Vype was your first e cig then you are going to be disappointed. This could last you just half a day or even just hours depending on how much you are puffing away. vype e cig

It isn’t the best value out there. Again though, I doubt they are going down the cost saving route as being the main benefit when marketing the product.

Overall – The lightest e cig I have felt and the closest representation of a cigarette I have come across yet but the battery life as expected is very poor. It does however almost match up to Vype’s quoted amount of puffs (130) so it does do as it says ‘on the tin’ so to speak. Heavy smokers/vapers will go through these very quickly.

Vapour / Flavour

vype disposable electronic cigaretteVype comes with just three options (i purchased all three) designed to keep everything as simple as possible.

The Red is the Classic tobacco flavour, Blue is the Classic tobacco Regular flavour and Green is the Menthol.

Each e cig, as mentioned before, comes in colour coded flip top boxes which are a quality design but does come across as overkill on the packaging especially as the e cigs cannot be bought separately to refill on their website meaning you could end up with a pile of fliptop boxes.

The e-liquid is made by Ecopure, a UK based company, and is made in their ‘Biosciecnce’ labs in Manchester in a ISO Class 8 Clean Room. Sounds impressive for sure although I’m not too sure what that is!

Onto the flavour itself

I have used Ecopure e-liquid in the past when reviewing the Intellicig XL and I found it to be one of the better tobacco flavours I have tried. I have to say that Vype didn’t disappoint in this department, the flavours are realistic with each one offering something that little bit different.

The Red Bold Tobacco flavour gives a realistic tobacco flavour that gives more throat hit than the Blue Regular.

The Blue Regular gives a nice smooth vape with just the right amount of throat hit for me.

The Green Menthol flavour I found very easy to vape giving the familiar ‘ice’ hit in the mouth and a subtle throat hit. Again a nice smooth vape. All of the above also gave a very good vapour volume as well.

My personal favourites were the Blue Regular and Menthol.

Overall – Full marks for the flavours on offer, with the Blue and Menthol standing out for me, but this wasn’t so much of a surprise as I have always been a fan of the Ecopure juice.

Final Verdict

The Vype e cig is without a doubt targeted towards the new e cig user and with the money the company have behind them it is inevitable they will reach that market in one form or another, whether it be online or in a bricks and mortar retail outlet, most likely both.

Basing my view solely on the product itself I would say that it is without doubt the most realistic looking ‘cig a like’ I have tried to date. Its lightweight, exactly the same size as a conventional cigarette and has a decent build quality.

The fact that it is ‘realistic’ will be a big draw to new e cig users making the switch but there is one big (and important) downfall. The battery life is VERY short, lasting me just 110-120 puffs.

vype electronic cigarette reviewA moderate to heavy smoker making the switch will feel they are going through these disposables at a pretty fast pace and unwrapping a new e cig every few hours will not only get pretty expensive but very tiresome.

If you happen to be a light/occasional smoker that just needs that hit of nicotine every so often then these will be best suited to you.

The positive to be taken is that the flavours available are excellent as is the vapour volume produced and do give a very realistic vaping experience due to the Ecopure juice used so no issues on that front.

One of the other things I think that needs to be addressed is regarding by replacement e cigs. It would be nice to see an option where the e cigs can be bought separately without a plastic case included.

I already purchased the case, I wouldn’t see myself needing more than 2 cases if I were using these e cigs all the time. At the moment all the Vype bundle offers include a plastic carry case.

BAT entering the electronic cigarette market, a market that is an alternative to the very product they sell to this day that hooked billions around the world, leaves a sour taste in the mouths of many.

I know from readers here at ecigclick.co.uk that many e cig users won’t entertain a product from a big tobacco company and I can see why. But the fact that they are producing this product is very real and if looking at the positives BAT can and will introduce e cigarettes to a wider smoking audience.

To me Vype seems to be a product to help smokers quit as it isn’t suitable as a medium/long term alternative due to the short life of the e cigarette.

But the fact that they are producing this product is very real and if looking at the positives BAT can and will introduce e cigarettes to a wider smoking audience.

This is what brings me to the conclusion that for those that are just looking for that ‘healthier alternative’ to deliver their nicotine rather than quitting altogether Vype will be just a short term solution, in effect acting as a gateway/introduction into the e cig world.
