What Can We Expect From The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro?

A pocket friendly vape with lots of smooth edges and one of the biggest displays I’ve ever seen on a vape pod. The whole front panel is a LCD colour screen!

It displays everything from your battery charge remaining, pod specifications, power level, puff count and any warnings.

Caliburn G3 Pro screen

It’s not all fur coat though, the Calburn G3 is packed with all sort of goodness.

An impressive 1000mAh internal battery which can be charged via the USB Type C port at a quick 2A charge rate.

Adjustable wattage up to 35W. Don’t worry though, if you just want to plug and play the device selects the appropriate adjustment range to match the pod installed.

Manual firing (button press) or use the auto draw firing. The fire button can also be locked for inhale activated auto draw only. Airflow too. It’s got it all, which we will get to below.

Caliburn G3 Pro activation

Good news as well for all Caliburn G3 users. The pods are compatible all of the G3 family of devices. And plenty of options there are as well!

Caliburn G3 Pro Pods

The kit includes the 0.4ohm and 0.9ohm pods. However the FDA version swaps the 0.4ohm for a 0.6ohm pod.Caliburn G3 Pro 360 view

These have “PRO-FOCS” technology. Nobody seems to know what that means, but usually pods / coils with this branding kick out excellent flavour.

Here is an introduction video from the Uwell YouTube channel.

You can choose from 6 colours: Midnight Black, Space Grey, Stone Grey, Pacific Blue, Rose Gold and Emerald Green.

Design & Build Quality

I received all 6 colours – of course the Rose Gold one found its way into my hand straight away!caliburn g2 pro device colours

The packaging is great and also has an anti-counterfeit verification system. Simply head over to the Uwell verification page here and follow the instructions.

caliburn g2 pro authenticity

The instructions are some of the best I have seen in a while, really informative and cover all aspects of operation!

caliburn g2 pro instructions

If you find the included instructions a bit small to read you can download a digital copy here.

Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro Mod

The first thing I noticed was how heavy this pod is!

It has the same battery capacity as the OXVA Xlim Go but the difference in weight is incredible! The Xlim Go weighs 41g and the G3 Pro is 92g!

Caliburn G3 Pro v Xlim Go
Left = Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro. Right = OXVA Xlim Go

The main reason is because the G3 Pro is made entirely of metal – Zinc Alloy to be precise and it feels extremely robust in the hand.

Also of course that huge screen which takes up the whole length of the device!

caliburn g3 pro front views

A brushed metal shell is the skeleton of the main device and the front, rear and bottom panels attach to this.

On the one side of the shell is the airflow adjustment slider. This has a rubbery action which makes it nice to move but not loose enough to move on its own.

caliburn g3 pro airflow adjustment
Top image = airflow fully closed / Bottom image = airflow fully open

Also this side has the “Uwell” logo etched in.

caliburn g3 pro airflow side

The opposite side houses the fire / operation button. This is a great size of around 12x7mm and it is quiet but super responsive.

Underneath that is the USB type C port which functions perfectly.

caliburn g3 pro usb side

You will see the text “Sample not for sale” stamped into my kits – this will not appear on retail items!

The rear panels of the devices have a patterned finish. There are two styles. A swishy paintbrush style on the Pacific Blue, Emerald Green and Rose Gold devices. Or a kind of circuit board / geometric design on the Midnight Black, Space Grey and Stone Grey kits.

caliburn g2 pro rear finish

On this panel is the Caliburn logo in a shiny Silver finish. This panel really does look classy.caliburn g3 pro rear branding

The base of the mod has a hard Black plastic finish with the required legal logos and battery capacity etched in. It stands up solidly and takes effort to push it over!

caliburn g3 pro bottom view

Inside the pod compartment you will find 2 spring loaded electrical contacts and 2 strong magnets. These are the perfect strength to ensure you can remove the pod when you need to but it won’t fall out either.

caliburn g2 pro pod compartment

One down point is the e-liquid viewing window. This is cut out of one side of the mod only so it is very dark to try and view your e-liquid.

caliburn g2 pro viewing window
Image has been lightened significantly to display the e-liquid level

It is not too bad with the fully clear side fill pods but becomes very dark with the 2ml top fill pods.

Screen

caliburn g3 pro screen objectsThis takes up the whole of the front of the device!

At the top is the “G3Pro” logo which lights up when vaping, charging and to display warnings.

Below that is the current output level – in this case “15” for 15 Watts.

Underneath this you will see the “ProFOCS” logo which denotes the technology the pods use.

Then you will see the coil resistance with the “Ω” (ohm) symbol. This tells you the resistance of the pod installed. When vaping this changes to a puff counter with the “P” logo.

Next you will see the flame symbol as well as the icon which looks like walking sticks. These icons show the firing mode – auto (button or inhale activation) or inhale only. We tell you more about this in the quick start section.

At the bottom of the screen is the battery charge display and each bar lit up represents 25% charge.

The screen is actually clearer and brighter than I could capture in the photos! It really is stunning!

When vaping or pressing the button there is a Robot figure which dances. I find it quite cute but it could be seen as being tacky or childish. It could ruin the otherwise classy appearance of the device.

Anyway I have videoed it in action so you can decide for yourself. It would be great if in future you could download new animations for it – please Uwell!

Caliburn G3 Pod

There are 2 styles of pod – top fill and side fill. The top fill pod is usually found on TPD regulated kits with a 2ml capacity. The 3ml pod is the side fill version.

uwell caliburn g3 pod v g2For this kit I received the side fill version but I have used the top fill in the past so will copy the details below.

Weirdly both pods included in the kit are a different height. The 0.4ohm is much taller than the 0.9ohm? I am not sure if the capacity is different or if it is just due to the size of the internal coil?

caliburn g3 pro 0.4 v 0.9

Side Fill Pods

Anyway these are a tinted Black colour all over but the e-liquid level is still nice and easy to see as the tinting is not too dark. On the 0.4ohm version though this is completely transparent with no tinting at all.

The mouthpiece is a very very smooth design and is super comfortable to use. The size of the pod width decreases with a small step below the mouthpiece area.

g3 pod min eliquid line

In the lower half of the pod you will find the minimum mark etched in plus the “Uwell”, “Pro-FOCS” and required legal logos. They are very faint so they do not look garish.

The base of the pod appears to be made from solid Black plastic which has a Red O-ring to seal between the outer pod and base.

On the bottom of the pod you will find the coil resistance and optimum power level etched in along with the “G3” logo.

g3 pod base markings

There are 2 Gold coloured electrical contacts and 2 magnets to connect the pod to the mod.

On the outer edges of this face are the 2 airflow inlet holes.

Filling is taken care of with the side fill port. The port has a Silicone cover with arrows marking the point where you lift it to access the port.

caliburn g3 fill port cover

It is easy to lift but I did find it was a bit fiddly to close the port as you need to align the cover exactly. Also the cover does not rotate out of the way very easily for filling.

g3 fill port

The port is a Rectangle shape and measures approx 5x4mm and I found it worked well and I didn’t get any airlocks when filling. I used 30ml and 120ml bottles and there were no problems at all.

Top Fill Pods

You can recognise the top fill pods as they have a Black mouthpiece rather than the fully transparent pod with the side fill port.

The top fill is accessed by “snapping” off the mouthpiece. I found this difficult, but it is easier to keep the pod in the mod and push the mouthpiece across to remove it.

gk3 tenet mouthpiece removal

Sadly I resorted to biting it to remove it – hence you might see some teeth marks in my photos – sorry!

With the mouthpiece removed you are faced with what looks like 3 ports! The Red port is the fill port, the Black port is the air vent and the central port is where the vapour comes out.

caliburn g3 pro top fill ports

To fill you need to use the bottle nozzle to press down on the valve in the Red fill port. This is very clever as it also opens the vent port allowing air to escape and prevent air locks when filling.

When you remove the bottle nozzle both ports close. A very very good design which resulted in zero air locks!

gk3 tenet pod valve
Left = Valves closed, Right = Valves open

The rest of the pod which is not covered by the mouthpiece is transparent and not tinted.

On the base of the pod you will see the “G3” logo, pod resistance and recommended power. But this is quite difficult to see as it is lightly etched into the Black plastic of the base.

As with the side fill pod this has 2 bottom airflow holes – one is bigger than the other. In other Caliburn G3 Kits you can rotate the pod 180° for 2 different airflow settings.

gk3 tenet pod base

The pod base also features 2 magnets and 2 electrical connections.

Quick Start Guide

The kit comes with the 0.4ohm pod installed. Make sure to fill this before removing the isolator sticker at the base of the pod. If you vape before filling this will burn out the coil and the pod will need to be binned.caliburn g2 pro isolator

You will need to fill, charge and set up the device to get going – I will guide you through the steps below!Components-g3-pro

Icons enlarged for illustration purposes
  • Low battery – The screen will display “Warning” and the low battery icon. The “G3Pro” logo will flash 10 times and the device will stop firing. To rectify charge the battery.
  • Short circuit / too low resistance – The screen will display “Warning” and the short circuit icon. The “G3Pro” logo will flash 3 times and the device will stop firing. To rectify clean all pod and device contacts. If still not working try a new pod. After that if the issue persists the device may be faulty.
  • Open circuit / no pod installed – The screen will display “Warning” and the open circuit icon. The “G3Pro” logo will flash 4 times and the device will stop firing. To rectify make sure a pod is installed. Clean all pod and device contacts. If still not working try a new pod. After that if the issue persists the device may be faulty.
  • Over time – if you vape for longer than 8 seconds the screen will display “Warning” and the “8s” icon. The “G3Pro” logo will flash 5 times and the device will stop firing. To rectify simply inhale on the mouthpiece or press fire again.

How To Charge The Battery

The charging rate is specified as 2A.

  • Using the included USB type C cable, connect the small end into the USB port on the mod.caliburn g3 pro charging
  • Connect the large end of the cable into a suitable USB outlet.
  • The screen will display the battery symbol and the “G3Pro” logo will pulse whilst charging. When fully charged the screen will turn off.

I found it took around 40 minutes to charge from full.

How To Fill the G3 Pod

If using a new pod leave to stand for 5-10 minutes after the first fill to allow the coil to saturate with e-liquid.

Make sure to fill when the e-liquid level is above the minimum marking on the side of the pod.

Side Fill Pod

  • Remove the pod from the mod.
  • Tip the pod onto its side and lift up the fill port cover.g3 fill port
  • Add e-liquid and watch the level through the side of the pod.how to fill uwell caliburn g3
  • Replace the fill port cover firmly.
  • Insert the pod back into the mod.

Top Fill Pod

  • You do not need to remove the pod for filling.
  • Snap off the mouthpiece by pushing it to the side.gk3 tenet mouthpiece removalcaliburn g3 pro top fill ports
  • Push down on the Red port with e-liquid nozzle.

  • Replace mouthpiece.

How Does The Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro Perform?

As there are 2 different types of pod on here, I will use different e-liquid to suit.

If any of these terms are over your head – have a read of our handy guides below!

0.9ohm Caliburn G3 Pod

For this pod, I used my own e-liquid mix which is 50/50 PG/VG made from IVG Bubblegum Concentrate at 20% ratio. This is quite high a flavour ratio as I prefer plenty of flavour, but sadly this means it can be a coil killer sometimes.

I add nic salt to approx 6mg strength.

This is such a great pod it really is!

Even at only 15W (which is the default automatic level set by the mod) it is perfect.

Admittedly the first few vapes may feel slightly lack-lustre but hang in there and soon the flavour starts flooding through!

For a low power output this really does give a lovely warmth and flavour. As for vapour this is never going to be a cloud chucker but it is what I would expect.

I only use 6mg of nicotine so I am unable to comment on the throat hit. If that is something which is important to you I would suggest grabbing the 0.6ohm G3 pod as that will suit you much better.

Right now I have vaped 36ml (1022 puffs) and the flavour is still superb!

0.4ohm Caliburn G3 Pod

For this pod I used the Choppa Vapes Choppa Collection e-liquid in Blue Slush which has a 70%VG / 30%PG ratio. This is ideal for higher output pods and coils.

There is no nicotine added to this as I like my e-liquid flavour strong.

The mod immediately set the optimum output at 35W.

I have to say this little pod is pretty surprising.

Yes it is only 35W on a small coil but it performs blumming well!

There is plenty of heat and a very good quantity of vapour.

The flavour too is absolutely spot on!

Airflow

I have to admit to being a bit puzzled about the airflow.

On other kits which use the G3 pods there are 2 airflow settings which you choose by rotating the pod 180° in the mod. This chooses between the larger or smaller airflow hole on the base of the pod.

Of course this is the same with the G3 Pro – but here we also have an airflow adjustment slider. So I am very puzzled as to whether rotating the pod gives even more airflow options?

With the 0.9ohm I can barely notice any difference whichever way around I install the pod, so if there is any airflow alteration it is likely to be only very slight. I could not sense anything obvious. So I will just rate the airflow range according to the slider settings.

I use a rating system for airflow – 0= fully closed and 10= like breathing unrestricted fresh air!

For the 0.9ohm pod I would say it is around 1.5 fully closed (you can still trigger the auto fire) and 4.5 fully open. This means it is ideal for MTL and a more restricted RDL airflow.

For the 0.4ohm pod I would rate this around 1.5 fully closed and 5 fully open – again ideal for MTL and RDL vapers.

Leaks?

Not a dribble at all – perfect!

Mod Performance

The mod is very responsive and I have found the power stayed stable right until the last few puffs before the battery charge ran out.

The output felt authentic, i.e. 15W on here feels like 15W on similar devices. This is not under or overpowered in any way.

The charging is quick too which means you will be up and running in no time.

Robustness

Well I gave one of these kits to my neighbour. He could even break an Aegis – so vapes have a very tough life with him!

Anyway he ran over this vape with his Vauxhall Zafira and as you can see in the video below it looks pretty trashed!

But it still works! Obviously the screen is knackered, but you can inhale on the mouthpiece and it works perfectly!

That really shows the quality here, a lot of vapes and phones would not work after undergoing this treatment!

Battery Life

This will always rely on your own vaping habits and the pod selected. I am a very heavy vaper so this must be considered. Plus I think I have 3ml pods – not sure! For a guide these are my timings…

With the 0.8ohm pod at the standard 15W I got around 260-300 puffs and a whopping 9-10 hours from one battery charge!

Pros

  • Amazing super clear screen
  • Heavy but very robust
  • Excellent quality
  • Compatible with other Caliburn G3 pods
  • Proper adjustable airflow rather than just the 2 settings (rotating pod 180°) on previous versions
  • Caters for MTL and RDL vapers
  • Quick charging
  • Beautiful flavour
  • Excellent battery life – 9-10 hours even for a heavy vaper like me!

Cons

  • The dancing Robot thingy on the screen could look a bit childish / tacky to some
  • E-liquid viewing window is only cut out of one side of device so not a great view
  • Puff counter only displays when vaping and briefly after. It would be good to see this on the main display (subjective)
  • Cannot reset puff counter (again only bothers me when reviewing – wouldn’t be an issue personally in normal use)
  • The kit contains 2 very different pods and beginners may not know to use different e-liquid / nicotine strengths in each?

Final Review Verdict

This kit is funky and very chunky!

It feels super robust but it is quite heavy.

The screen is gorgeous and looks very technical and the overall appearance is pretty classy.

A couple of improvements which would make me happier are a fully cut out both sides e-liquid viewing window and the ability to change the animation theme. Some people might find the dancing Robot thingy a bit childish/gimmicky.

Oh and another – you can only see the puff counter when vaping and for a second after you stop. As you can’t really see the screen when vaping you have to be quick to catch it if you have locked the fire button. With all this space on the screen the puff counter could have been on the main display. But if I wasn’t reviewing this kit – I would only probably look at the puff counter when the pod died to see how many puffs I got. Plus you cannot reset the counter, this would only be an issue when I put a new pod in for instance.

The kit includes a 0.9ohm and 0.4ohm pod. Which is strange. I understand Uwell want to keep MTL and RDL vapers happy but these are two very different pods.

Those wanting to use strong nicotine e-liquid may accidentally use the 0.4ohm pod and find the output a bit harsh. Equally those wanting some low ohm vaping may be disappointed with the 0.9ohm pod.

So if you are MTL only or RDL only you will only have one pod in this kit which meets your expectations. I know Uwell want to showcase the full range of this pod but in practicality terms it doesn’t quite work. I have had to explain to people the difference between the pods. Starter vapers don’t need that added level of complication.

But pretty much all my whining can be dismissed by the performance of this kit. The flavour and vapour make this a joy to use. The Caliburn’s have had an excellent reputation for flavour and this kit just adds to that pedigree.

As quality pod kits go – the Uwell Caliburn G3 Pro is up there with the best. You won’t regret buying it at all!

The Uwell Caliburn GK3 Tenet is a new compact pod kit from the popular Caliburn family.

gk3 tenet main imageAs the name suggests this is heavily based on the Caliburn GK3 with the additional more industrial styling of the Tenet range.

gk3 tenet banner

The Caliburn range are split into the A series and the G Series. So far the G series have given us the original Caliburn G, G2, GK2, G3 and GZ2.

gk3 tenet other caliburns
Left to Right: Original Uwell Caliburn, Caliburn G2, Caliburn G3, Caliburn GK3 Tenet

Of course the brand name Uwell will be familiar to most vapers – not only due to the Caliburn series but also the Crown, Valyrian and Nunchaku ranges.

Thank you to Vape Club for sending this over for review! I will report on my experience with the device in my possession!

What To Expect From The Uwell Caliburn GK3 Tenet …

The “K” in the title stands for “KOKO” (Keep On Keeping On) and the “K” badged kits have a square format rather than the standard bar shape.

Inside the little square device is a 1000mAh battery which is charged via the Type C USB port at up to 2A.

To keep everything simple this has an auto draw activation and will automatically adjust the output to suit the pod installed up to 25W.

gk3 tenet components

There is an operation button which is used to switch the device on and off and turn off the lighting.

Talking of lighting – the panel on one side lights up in various RGB colours when you vape – you can of course turn this off.

Around the operation button is a circular light which is animated and lights up to display the device status – such as charge remaining and faults.

This is compatible with the G3 range of pods with fixed coils. All the previous Caliburn G devices used removable coils which I did prefer.

g3 pod new

This device is not backwards compatible with previous G pods.

There are 3 pod resistances to choose from – 0.6ohm, 0.9ohm (both included in kit) and a new 1.2ohm which promises to be on the way soon.

caliburn g3 pods

Apparently the new pods have bigger coils and improved flavour output.

g3 pod updates

When it comes to filling there will be two options. For the 2.5ml standard versions these will have a side refill port. For the 2ml TPD regulated areas this will be a top fill which is also designed to be Child Resistant (CRC).

g3 filling options

You also have the option to use Pre-filled pods – for those who want the simplicity of a disposable vape but the sustainability of something reusable. These were reviewed alongside the Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite.

g3 prefilled pod

You can adjust the airflow by rotating the pod 180° in the mod – which seems a slight backward step compared to the excellent little Red adjustment wheel on previous Caliburn G pods.

There are 7 colours to choose from: Black, Evening Sunshine, Dark Ocean, Sweet Morning, Powder Blue, Grey and Vista White.

Uwell Caliburn GK3 Tenet Design & Build Quality

I received the Sweet Morning colour in the 2ml version.

The packaging is great, despite being very compact they have crammed a lot in there! The kit generously includes 2 pods, lanyard and charging cable!

The lanyard is of excellent quality I might add!

The main body is made from metal which is cast into an “industrial design”.

Whilst the front of the device has a large shiny Black plastic panel with mirror finish Silver patterns.

These patterns also light up when you are vaping with RGB lighting. You can turn the lighting off.

gk3 tenet light panel colours

The video below shows the panel in action!

I love the look of the front panel, some might find it a bit “busy” but it is super shiny and the Silver bits have a holographic finish when you angle them in the light.

gk3 tenet panel

The rest of the body has all sorts going on. There are fake screws, fake screwed on plates and some weird dial shape with numbers on the back. Sadly these remind me of a cheap watch, where you get dials which are fake. I wish they were actual screws or plates screwed on as these details detract from the appearance.

gk3 tenet design details

On the rear you will find the round operating button which is nice and clicky. But you only need to use this to turn the device on or off or if you are fiddling with the light setting.

gk3 tenet rear view

Surrounding this button is an animated light ring. It has all the RGB colours and the light circles around the ring. I think this is what is meant by the “Pacific Rim Theme” which is written on the box and the front panel. I love this effect and you can see it in action in the video below.

Both sides feature more of the same mock mouldings and the side where the pod sits has a single airflow inlet hole.

gk3 tenet side views

An e-liquid viewing window is provided which works perfectly as this time Uwell have cut out both sides so there is plenty of light to show the level clearly.

gk3 tenet window

At the top is a hole for attaching a lanyard.

On the base is the USB Type C port, the required legal logos and what I assume are venting holes in case the battery has a tantrum.

Uwell Caliburn G3 Pod

Sadly the G3 pod is not interchangeable with the G/G2 pod. They just do not fit in the others device. You can see the two pods side by side in the image below.

Left = Caliburn G2 Pod, Right = Caliburn G3 Pod

With this kit I have been supplied with the 2ml Top fill pods. But I have also experienced the side fill pods in my Caliburn G3 review so I will discuss both.

g3 pods top side fill
G3 pods – Left = Side fill, Right = Top fill

Side Fill Pods

Anyway these are a tinted Black colour all over but the e-liquid level is still nice and easy to see as the tinting is not too dark.

They are 2 different sizes, the smaller hole when selected will give a more restricted airflow and the larger hole will give a less restricted airflow.

The Red port is the fill port, the Black port is the air vent and the central port is where the vapour comes out.

gk3 tenet pod top view

To fill you need to use the bottle nozzle to press down on the valve in the Red fill port. This is very clever as it also opens the vent port allowing air to escape and prevent air locks when filling. When you remove the bottle nozzle both ports close. A very very good design which resulted in zero air locks!

gk3 tenet pod valve
Left = Valves closed, Right = Valves open

The rest of the pod which is not covered by the mouthpiece is transparent and not tinted which means the view from the window in the mod is excellent.

On the base of the pod you will see the “G3” logo, pod resistance and recommended power. But this is quite difficult to see as it is lightly etched into the Black plastic of the base.

As with the side fill pod this has 2 bottom airflow holes – one is bigger than the other so you can rotate the pod 180° for 2 different airflow settings.

gk3 tenet pod base

The pod base also features 2 magnets and 2 electrical connections.

Quick Start Guide

As this is such a simple device you only need to fill the pod, charge if required and set the airflow.

Also after filling the pod you will need to remove the isolator sticker from the base of the pod. This is there to prevent an electrical connection whilst in transit or until the pod is filled with e-liquid. Firing an empty pod will result in pod damage due to the coil burning out.caliburn g3 pod isolator sticker

I will guide you through the steps below!

Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off = Press the fire button 5 times.
  • Vaping = This is an “auto draw” device – simply inhale on the mouthpiece and it will fire.
  • Battery indicator = The ring around the operation button is the indicator. It lights up when vaping – Green = Over 60% charge remaining, Blue = 30-60% and Red = less than 30%.
  • Battery indicator when charging = When you connect the charging cable the device will vibrate twice. When fully charged the decorative light panel will stay on in a solid Green colour and the same with the LED indicator around the button.
  • Airflow = There are two airflow settings. To change setting remove the pod and rotate it 180°. When the large airflow hole is on the right with the fire button facing you it will be the less restricted airflow. And vice versa with the small hole on the right – more restricted airflow.gk3 tenet airflow selection
  • Turn off lighting effect = Press the button 3 times in 2 seconds. The LED indicator will flash Red 3 times if you have turned the lights off and in Green 3 times to indicate you have turned the lights on.

Protections

  • Open circuit: When no pod is installed or if there is an open circuit the LED indicator will flash Blue 3 times and the device will vibrate once. Install a pod or clean all contacts. Failing that replace with a new pod.
  • Low Voltage: When the battery charge is too low for the device to operate the LED indicator will flash Red 10 times. The device will vibrate three times and stop working until it has been charged.
  • Short circuit: The LED indicator will flash Red 3 times, the device will vibrate twice and the output will cut out. Clean all contacts, replace pod.
  • Over time protection: If vaping for longer than 8 seconds the firing will cut out to prevent damage or overheating. The LED indicator will flash Green 5 times and vibrate twice. Carry on vaping as normal.
  • Inserting / removing pod: The device will vibrate once when you remove or insert a pod. The LED indicator will flash 3 times – Green when inserting pod or Blue when removing pod.

How To Charge The Battery

The charging rate is specified as 2A.

The device will vibrate twice when connected to or disconnected from the charger – just in case you were worried what it was doing!

  • Using a USB type C cable, connect the small end into the USB port on the mod. gk3 tenet charging
  • Connect the large end of the cable into a suitable USB outlet.
  • The LED around the button will change colour – Red when first charging.gk3 tenet charging led
  • The LED will display a solid green and then vibrate when fully charged.

I found it took around 55 minutes to fully charge.

How To Fill the Pod

If a new pod leave to stand for 5-10 minutes after first fill to allow the coil to saturate with e-liquid.

  • Snap off the mouthpiece by pushing it to the side.gk3 tenet mouthpiece removalgk3 tenet pod top view
  • Push down on the Red port with e-liquid nozzle.

  • Fill whilst observing the e-liquid level through the side of the pod.
  • Replace mouthpiece.

How Does the Uwell Caliburn GK3 Tenet Perform?

I tested this with my DIY Bubblegum e-liquid made from 50/50 VG/PG and IVG Bubblegum Concentrate. There is around 6mg nicotine salt added.

If any of these terms are over your head – have a read of our handy guides below!

0.6ohm Caliburn G3 Pod

This pod should be able to cope with 50/50 and up to around 70/30 e-liquid ratios as it is just on the cusp of being a MTL / RDL / DTL pod at 0.6ohms!

This gives an excellent flavour, is quite warm and a great throat hit even with only 6mg nicotine strength. If you are using a higher nic strength you might find this pod a bit too harsh and would be better off using the 0.9ohm.

There was a slight dryness to the vape – on the G3 I did knock the power down slightly, but unfortunately you cannot do this on the GK3 Tenet. But I still really enjoyed using this pod, I would have just knocked it down 1W.

After 9 refills the pod flavour is still going strong!

0.9ohm Caliburn G3 Pod

The flavour is absolutely perfect – no complaints at all and I got all the rounded flavours that make up my Bubblegum e-liquid.

As for vapour this is average, exactly what you would expect from this kind of device.

I don’t get much throat hit as I only use 6mg nicotine – but I would imagine that you get a decent rasp at the back of the throat with higher nic strengths.

The first 2ml of e-liquid had a slightly strange taste in the background, but this soon cleared with the second filling.

I have refilled this 8 times and the flavour is still ace!

Excellent pod!

Airflow

For both pods I preferred to use the more open (less restricted) airflow settings.

To help rate how restricted the airflow is, I use a scale – where 0 = fully closed, no airflow up to 10 = breathing fresh air.

So you only have 2 airflow settings to choose from – adjusted by rotating the pod 180° when inserting into the mod.

With the 0.9ohm pod the airflow on the largest setting was around 4 which is a loose MTL or ideal RDL restriction. On the small airflow setting this reduces to around a 2.5 which is great for a true MTL. In the more restricted setting the vapour does get quite hot so I preferred the more open setting.

The airflow on the 0.6ohm pod was around 3 on the smallest setting which did get a bit hot. I would say it is around 5 on the larger setting. This is more RDL than DTL territory.

Mod Performance

I had zero issues and the auto draw fire was super quick and responsive with no stuttering or missfires.

I will say that when the Red LED illuminates to indicate the battery charge is running out the output does suffer a bit. After a while it does become quite weak – but this is pretty normal.

Leaks

I did get some slight misting of condensation with both pods – easily dealt with but no leaks at all!

Battery Life

This will always vary according to the power output selected, pod used and your own vaping habits. As a guide I got the following (with the panel lights in use I may add!)…

With the 0.9ohm pod I got around 8.5 hours and 4 (2ml) refills to one charge.

For the 0.6ohm pod it was still around 6-7 hours and 3-4 refills.

Pros

  • Excellent build quality
  • E-liquid window has cut outs on both sides of mod so has plenty of light to see clearly
  • Vibration alerts are handy
  • The light up front panel is super shiny
  • Love the light ring around the operation button
  • Excellent MTL and RDL airflow settings
  • Great battery life
  • The flavour is just epic!

Cons

  • Lack of full airflow adjustment – it only caters for MTL and RDL – too restricted for DTL.
  • Fixed coil rather than replaceable coil
  • Not compatible with pods / coils of previous Caliburn G kits
  • Slightly unusual appearance (subjective) – the fake screws and mouldings cheapen the finish
  • I still find the top fill mouthpiece hard to remove – resorting to biting it!

Uwell Caliburn GK3 Tenet Final Review Verdict

The only real downside of this device is its appearance.

I love a bit of industrial design and really liked the original Tenet.

But with the GK3 there is just a bit too much “fakeness”. Fake mouldings of screws and dials is a bit off putting. All this still wouldn’t stop me buying it as the performance is as wonderful as you would expect from a Caliburn.

Another slight negative is the fact there are only 2 airflow settings. I much prefer a full airflow adjustment. Saying that it does cater well to those who like a tight MTL and a looser MTL/RDL airflow.

I am not sure if it is my useless hands or if the mouthpiece is a nightmare to remove on the top fill pods. I would much prefer the side fill pods.

Performance wise I cannot fault this and it is super simple for even beginners to enjoy!

Another solid Caliburn to add to the range!

One of the most recognisable pod system ranges is the Caliburn series from Uwell and today we’ve got the newest addition to the range – the Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite to review!

uwell caliburn g3 lite airflow side view

Since the release of the original Uwell Caliburn the range has grown exponentially. There are a huge number of different Uwell pod kits bearing the Caliburn moniker and they have become a very popular choice indeed.

Uwell (which originates from ‘I wish you well’) are based out of China and were founded in 2015. They prioritise innovation and user experience and pride themselves on manufacturing their products to the highest possible standards with strict quality control systems in place.

They have become a massive name in the industry. Not just for the Caliburn range but also for products such as the Nunchaku, Valyrian and Ironfist. We’ve also recently taken a look at one of their most recent products, the Uwell Caliburn GK3!

So, what does the Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite have in store? Let’s find out…

What Can We Expect From The Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite?

Uwell’s Caliburn G3 Lite is marketed as a more compact version of the Uwell Caliburn G3.

g3 lite banner

However don’t let its ‘compact-ness’ fool you!

This pod system is capable of a maximum output of 25W

It features an even larger battery than the G3, with a 1200mAh built in one here compared to the 900mAh one found inside the G3.

g3 lite battery

With the increased size of the battery, Uwell say that it is possible to vape for 3 days with one charge! As expected, the Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite charges via USB-C.

You’ve got compatibility with the G3 series of refillable pods which take advantage of Uwell’s Pro-FOCS flavour technology.

These offer side filled or top filling options and are available in resistances of 0.6ohm, 0.9ohm and 1.2ohm. So there are options there for both mouth to lung (MTL) and restricted direct to lung (RDL) vapers. We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.

g3 lite pod options

The Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite comes bundled with a 0.6ohm G3 pod.

Uwell are also saying that it is ‘great to switch’ with the Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite. Now what that means is that not only can you take advantage of the refillable pods you can also use G3 pre-filled pods that offer a wide range of different flavours. We will also be looking at those in today’s review!

g3 prefilled pod

There’s a 360 degree viewing window which means it is possible to check the current e-liquid level at a glance, without having to remove the whole pod.

A handy LED light allows you to check your current battery level at a glance.

Many thanks to Uwell for sending the Caliburn G3 Lite and the G3 pre-filled pods in for review! Let’s dive in and have a deeper look, as always views are my own!

You’ve got eight different colour finishes to pick from: Space Black, Basalt Grey, Pearl White, Chili Red, Ice Blue, Pastel Pink, Pale Purple and Mint Green.

Design and Build Quality

This isn’t one of the smallest pod systems out there, measuring in at 111.4mm x 28.8mm x 16.3mm. This means that the main body of the device sits in the palm of my hand whilst the top (roughly from the 360 degree viewing window onwards) pokes out of the top.

I must say that it is very comfortable to hold though!

uwell caliburn g3 lite review

With a weight of 46g, this is quite a lightweight little device too.

It is constructed from PCTG and PC and the Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite is quite robustly made. There’s no sharp edges to be found here, just smooth curves all the way around the device.

Also, I was sent all eight G3 Lite colour options whereas they all look pretty great, my personal picks were the Chilli Red and Space Black versions! One aspect to note is that it is very hard to tell which colour option you have selected as the packaging is the same regardless of the colour you have selected. It even just features the Space Black version on every box!

To check the colour, you need to look for the barcode sticker on the top of the box, which tells you the colour option inside. Uwell could at least make the packaging relevant to the selected colour option!

On the body of the device there is a small LED light, which enables you to check the current battery level at a glance, though you’ll need to take a puff first to do so!

On the side of the device is the USB-C charging port and just above that is the fixed airflow hole.

usb charge point

A dual airflow system is used on the Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite, which means that you do have some control over the airflow, but it is limited to two basic options.

On the base of each G3 pod are two different airflow holes.

Basically, the one that is closest to the fixed airflow hole on the device is the one that gets used and the other airflow hole on the pod is blocked off.

blue caliburn g3 lite

So, you can pick from an airier or a tighter draw, but you don’t have the option of really fine tuning the airflow like you do on some other pod systems out there.

A nifty little design feature is the 360 degree viewing window at the top of the device. This allows you to see just how much e-liquid is remaining in your pod, without the need to remove the pod itself.

g3 lite mouthpiece

And this does work really well in practice. I’ve never felt the need to remove the pod to check how much e-liquid is left in it, which is a minor irk that I have with other pod systems!

The pods themselves connect securely via a magnetic connection in the top of the device. These are held firmly in place with no wobble and you can install and remove them very easily.

pod battery kit contents

Of course, you can also use the G3 pre-filled pods if you don’t want the hassle of filling your own. These are available in packs of two. Though the 360 degree viewing window is negated when using one of these! The pods themselves are completely Black and you can’t check the e-liquid level inside them, which is a poor design choice in my opinion!

Quick Start Guide

g3 lite components

How To Fill The Caliburn G3 Lite Pod

Obviously, this section only pertains to the G3 refillable pods, as you can’t refill the pre-filled ones!

The kit I received had the side filling pods.

  • You need to remove the pod from the device, locate the silicone filling port cover at the side, then push this to one side to reveal the filling port.
  • Once the filling port is revealed, pop your bottle nozzle in and fill it up. Taking care not to overfill the pod otherwise e-liquid will leak back out of it.
  • If using a top filled G3 pod, snap the black mouthpiece off on top of the pod to reveal the filling port and fill away from there.

uwell g3 pods

For a brand new pod make sure to let the pod stand for five minutes after filling before using it for the first time. This allows the cotton in the coil to properly soak up the e-liquid and eliminate the chance of a nasty burnt hit the first time you have a puff on it.

Also, it is recommended to use e-liquids with a 50/50 VG/PG mix ratio (so nicotine salts are a great choice!) but I have also used 60/40 and even 70/30 mix ratios without any issue.

Operation

Not too much to say here, the Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite has no buttons and an auto draw system, so simply take a puff to get going!

An LED light on the device displays the current battery level when you take a puff on the device. With Green meaning that you have 60-100% battery life remaining, Blue meaning that there is 30-60% remaining and Red is…basically get to a charger, because there’s only 0-30% left!

caliburn g3 lite indicator light

The LED light will also flash Green twice when inserting a pod and Blue twice when removing one.

Safety features are built into the device and you’ve got short-circuit, low voltage, 8 second cut off and open-circuit protections for your peace of mind.

Charging

As with the vast majority of pod systems on the market, the Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite features USB Type-C charging.

The charging port is located on the side of the device, meaning you need to lay it flat when charging.

And it charges from flat to full in under an hour, which isn’t too bad!

How Does The Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite Perform?

The fixed FeCrAl meshed coil inside the 0.6ohm G3 pod really does provide a lovely, flavoursome vape and is right up there with some of the best pods that I’ve tried. You can really taste the nuances in your e-liquids and get the best out of them with one of these pods!

uwell pro g3 lite pods

It outputs up to a maximum of 25 watts, which is decided by the mod according to the resistance of the coil and the amount of battery charge left.

g3-lite-pod system

At full charge with a 0.6ohm pod, this doesn’t feel too overpowered to me, but just right for a long and smooth draw on the device and a good RDL hit.

My preference is to use the slightly larger airflow hole for an airier airflow, but turning the pod around to the smaller airflow hole will give a tighter mouth to lung draw. Some fairly decent vapour production with the larger airflow hole too!

Battery Life

Battery life is excellent. The 1200mAh built in battery really does the job here.

I actually took this away camping with me recently and used it as my main vaping device. The battery lasted me well into my second day before I needed to get my powerbank out and charge it.

pre filled pods caliburn g3 lite

I vape pretty frequently so if you are a less frequent vaper, I could definitely see this seeing through three days or so!

G3 Pre-filled Pods

As I’ve already mentioned, not only do you have the option of using the refillable G3 pods, but you can also use G3 pre-filled 2ml capacity pods in the Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite and Uwell kindly sent some for us to try out.

They come in the following flavours and have a 0.9ohm coil inside:

  • Blueberry Sour Raspberry – a sweet and tangy Blueberry Sour Raspberry flavour, definitely one if you have a sweet tooth!
  • Blue Razz Lemonade – a delicious mix of Blueberry, Raspberry and a punchy citrus Lemonade undertone.
  • Lemon & Lime – tasted like a Lemon and Lime Ice Lolly to me, very refreshing!
  • Cherry Cola – a great take on a Cherry Cola flavour, this one absolutely hit the spot and reminded me of Cherry Cola sweets!
  • Cherry Ice – a rich Red Cherry flavour with a nice cooling note to it.
  • Watermelon Ice – an artificial Watermelon flavour with a chill at the end.
  • Watermelon Strawberry Gum – I felt that both the Watermelon and Strawberry notes tasted a bit artificial, but not unpleasant and there’s a note of Bubblegum in there too!
  • Pink Lemonade – a pretty solid but unspectacular take on Pink Lemonade, could do with being a bit stronger flavoured!
  • Pineapple Ice – a solid Pineapple Ice flavour that features an almost candy like Pineapple flavour mixed with a nice nip of koolada.
  • Strawberry Ice – I felt the Strawberry tasted a bit more like the fruit here and the cooling sensation blends in well making for a tasty little vape.

So, you’ve got some of the most popular disposable flavours on the market available in the pre-filled G3 pod range. Making them a great option as an alternative to throwaway disposable vapes.

All in all these are pretty solid flavours, I didn’t really have an issue with any of them and they each provided an enjoyable vape.

They aren’t over-flavoured and the mixing balance is quite spot on with them. Particular highlights were the Cherry Cola, Blue Razz Lemonade and Strawberry Ice flavours and my wife quite enjoyed the Lemon and Lime one!

My only issue with these is that the pods are completely Black so there’s no way that you can see how much e-liquid is left inside them. My only warning that one was about to run out was the hints of a dry hit creeping in with each puff!

Pros

  • G3 pods provide a great vape
  • Excellent battery life
  • Easy pick up and play option
  • Competitively priced
  • Compatible with refillable and pre-filled pods
  • Mouth to lung and restricted direct lung hit options (dependent on pod)

Cons

  • Identical packaging regardless of colour option selected
  • Very limited airflow options
  • Only one pod included in the kit
  • No way of checking e-liquid levels in the pre-filled pods

Final Verdict

If you are in the market for a budget-friendly, easy to use pod system then you can’t really go wrong with the Uwell Caliburn G3 Lite!

This will be available in the UK at a sub £15 price point, which I think offers real value for money. You are getting a solidly designed device, with great battery life and excellent flavour from the G3 pods.

Plus, having the option to purchase pre-filled pods makes this a very good option as an alternative to single use disposable vapes. As you can just chuck one of the pre-filled pods in and vape away. Better for the environment, better for your wallet and you get a better vape than you would get from a disposable!

Battery life is a big plus with this device. The built in 1200mAh battery just seems to go on and on and it has definitely outperformed similar pod systems that I have used this year on that front.

It gets the thumbs up from me!

Many thanks go to Uwell for sending the Caliburn G3 Lite and G3 pre-filled pods in for review, this is available in the UK very soon!

The Uwell Crown S is the latest addition to the popular Crown range.

Uwell crown s banner

The Crown range is quite diverse from pod kits such as the Crown B and Crown X, sub ohm tanks such as the Crown 3 and Crown V (5) and even box mods including the Crown 4.

What To Expect From The Uwell Crown S?

This is a pod kit with 2 main components – the pod (or tank) and the mod (or battery).

uwell crown s components

What makes this stand out from other kits is the output!

Uwell say this has a maximum output of 75W! Which is huge for a pod kit.

You cannot fully adjust the output though, but you have 3 power levels to choose from. The actual output will be dictated by the mod according to which coil is installed.

crown s output

Inside the mod is a 1500mAh battery which is charged using the USB Type C port at a fast 2A charge rate.

There is an airflow slider on the side of the mod to fine tune your incoming airflow.

When it comes to vaping you have 3 activation methods to choose from. Either select auto draw, button fire or both!

crown s activation

The pods boast a 5ml capacity as standard – which will sadly be reduced to 2ml for TPD regulated areas.

A side fill port is provided for refilling.

The coil is fixed in the pod – this means when the coil fails you discard the pod section and replace with a new one. No messy coil changes.

crown s pod options

0.2ohm and 0.6ohm pods are included in the kit and it looks like there will also be a 1ohm version available separately.

Here is an introduction video from Uwell.

You can choose from 7 colours: Grey Titanium, Midnight Gold, Pink Shore, Relaxing Red, Purple Galaxy, Blue Sky and Dark Knight.

I love the idea of a 5ml pod capacity – such a shame us poor sods in the UK will have to cope with it being reduced to 2ml – urgh. Which will be even worse with the 0.2ohm pod!

What To Expect From The Uwell Dillon EM…

This is a pod kit which has 2 main components – the mod (or battery section) and the pod / cartridge (or tank).

dillon em components

The battery section features a 900mAh battery which is charged at a fast 2A rate using the USB type C port.

dillon em charging

An LED indicator is provided which will display battery levels and any fault conditions.

dillon em views

Life is made very simple as you simply have to just inhale on the mouthpiece for it to fire (auto draw).

dillon em autodraw

The output is specified as 25W maximum, but from what I can tell the device will adjust the output to suit the pod installed.

There are 2 airflow settings which are achieved by removing and rotating the pod 180° to select the wider or smaller airflow inlet holes on the bottom of the pod.

dillon em airflow

A new range of pods have been created for the Dillon EM and the coils are fixed in the pods. This means no messy coil changes, simply discard the pod when the flavour deteriorates.

The pods have “EM Lock” (Electro-Magnetic Lock) which basically means that a shield surrounds the coil. This opens / closes electromagnetically when inserted in the mod to help prevent leaks, flooding and oxidation of e-liquid.

dillon em lock

You get 2 pods included in the kit: 0.6ohm and 0.9ohm. These have the “PRO FOCS” flavour technology, which is very mysterious – but usually results in excellent flavour!

dillon em pods

In standard format the pods have a 2.5ml capacity and filling is via a side fill port on the pod. For TPD regulated areas this is reduced to 2ml. There are also “CRC” (Child Resistant Container) versions to meet regulations in various countries.

Here is an introduction video from the Uwell YouTube channel.

You can choose from 4 colours: Silver Quartz Fibre, Off White Micro Arc, Purple Aura Quartz and Luxury Black Gold.

The EM Lock idea sounds good in theory – but is there any chance it could result in dry hits if the lock system has a fault?

The Crown range is very varied, initially being just a range of sub ohm tanks such as the original Crown, Crown 3 and Crown V/5. But there were also pod kits such as the Crown M and Crown B plus mod kits including the Crown V/5.

What To Expect From The Uwell Crown X…

This is a pod kit meaning you have two main components – the Mod (or battery section) and Pod (tank and coil section).

crown x components

Looking firstly at the mod, this has a 1500 mAh battery which is charged via the USB Type C port at a fast 2A charge rate.

This has variable wattage so you can adjust the output up to 60W maximum. A “Max Boost” system ensures that the output stays consistent regardless of battery charge.

When it comes to firing you have different options, you can select from auto draw (inhale to fire), manual button firing or both!

Also there is a slider provided to adjust the incoming airflow to your preference.

Moving on to the pod section, this houses the removable coil.

The coils have the “Pro-FOCS” flavour badge – and nobody has a clue what this means. But when this is present you always get great flavour!

You get the 0.6ohm and 0.3ohm Mesh coils included in the kit, they appear to only be compatible with this device at present.

A side fill port allows access for filling with up to 5.3ml of your own e-liquid. Unfortunately for those in TPD Regulated areas this is reduced to 2ml.

Today we are reviewing the Uwell Caliburn GK3!

uwell caliburn gk3 in hand

This is the successor to the Uwell Caliburn GK2, released in 2022 and it was very popular!

For those who may not have heard of them before, Uwell are a huge name within the industry, with a vast range of products sold across the globe. The Caliburn range of pod kits have become internationally recognised best sellers over time!

Since they were founded in 2015, alongside the Caliburn range, they have scored some huge hits with award-winning products such as the Uwell Crown tanks, Nunchaku, Valyrian and the incredibly named Ironfist!

caliburn gk3 banner

These products have helped make Uwell a well-respected household name in the vaping industry.

The name Uwell originates from ‘I wish you well’ and they are based out of China. Uwell prioritise innovation and user experience, with their products manufactured to the highest possible standards with strict quality control systems in place.

What Can We Expect From The Uwell Caliburn GK3?

So, the Caliburn range features bar style and square style pod mods and the Caliburn GK3 is Uwell’s latest square styled pod mod.

Compared to its predecessor, the GK2 – you now have variable wattage with the GK3 and can adjust the power output of your vape from 5-25 Watts in 1 Watt increments.

front of caliburn gk3

A large, segmented digital LCD screen can also be found on the GK3. Uwell claim this uses a minimal amount of battery power and the screen can be left on for up to two years if the device is not being used!

caliburn gk3 screen

Rather than the replaceable coil system that was found with the G2 pods, the pods on the GK3 have an integrated FeCrAl mesh coil.

The design of the pod incorporates ultrasonic welding with a U-shaped channel mechanism to eliminate leakage as much as possible.

There are 3 resistance options to choose from – 0.6ohm and 0.9ohm (included in kit) plus a 1.2ohm which is apparently on the way.

caliburn g3 pods

Depending on the capacity there are 2 different fill methods. The 2.5ml standard capacity pods have side fill ports and the 2ml (for TPD regulated areas) pods have a top fill port.

caliburn g3 filling options

A dual airflow system at the base of the pods allows you to switch between two different airflow options. Either you can have an airier or tighter draw to suit your preferred vaping style, as Mouth-To-Lung (MTL) and Restricted Direct Lung (RDL) hits are available. We tell you what the terms MTL and RDL mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.

Other features include an integrated 900mAh battery that is recharged via a USB-C cable and a wide ClearView window to view your e-liquid in the pod.

There are 4 colours to choose from: Black, Silver, Red and Blue.

Design and Build Quality

Constructed from PCTG, PC & ABS, the Uwell Caliburn GK3 measures in at 74.8mm x 49.2mm x 17.1mm and weighs only approximately 52g.

It’s a small and svelte little device, ergonomically designed with rounded edges to sit nicely in your hand.

gk3-pod-system-front

One of the first aspects I noticed was the large, segmented LCD screen. This clearly displays information such as the selected power output, coil resistance, puff count and battery status.

caliburn gk3 screen layout

Pushing the button at the side will also illuminate the backlight, allowing you to view the screen under low light conditions.

uwell-caliburn-gk3-pod

Built into the Uwell Caliburn GK3 is haptic feedback, which vibrates under certain conditions. The haptic feedback comes into play whenever you turn the device on or off, insert a pod or stick it on to charge and it is a nice little touch.

Something a little different and could also aid sight-impaired vapers out there.

On the opposite side to the screen is the ClearView juice viewing window, designed to help you view how much e-liquid you have left in the tank. With ‘MIN’ etched onto the side to show you when it is time to fill the pod back up.

caliburn gk3 back view

It’s a good idea in theory, however I did find it difficult at times to see the juice in the pod and resorted to removing the pod to see how much I had left. It could have done with a viewing window on the other side to allow light in and provide better visibility!

Even though it is a pretty lightweight device, it feels very robust and has held up just fine with day to day use so far!

Quick Start Guide

  • Five clicks of the side button will turn the Uwell Caliburn GK3 on and off. The screen will light up and you’ll get a vibration from the inbuilt haptic feedback to acknowledge this!
  • Pressing the side button three times in two seconds will allow you to adjust the power output setting, which can be changed in 1W increments.
  • Keep pressing the button to get to your desired power setting, then either leave it for three seconds or take a draw on the pod (as long as there is e-liquid in it!) to set the wattage.
  • Four clicks of the power button will reset the puff counter. Handy if you like to keep a track of the amount of times you’ve had a puff on the device.
  • Next up, you’ll want to fill the pod…

How To Fill The UWELL Caliburn GK3 Pod

The Uwell Caliburn GK3 comes with a 0.6ohm and 0.9ohm Caliburn G3 integrated coil pod, which features a FeCrAl (Kanthal) mesh coil and Uwell’s patented Pro-FOCS technology which allows for full and rich flavour.

how to fill the uwell caliburn gk3 pod

  • In order to fill the pod, you’ll need to remove the mouthpiece to expose the filling port. I’ve actually found this quite difficult to do with the pod in the device itself and have quite often had to resort to removing the pod from the device to fill it.
  • Once you have got the mouthpiece off, you’ll need to insert your bottle nozzle into the red filling port (not the black port opposite!) and push downwards before squeezing your bottle to fill the pod. This pushes the U-shaped channel downwards to help guard against leakage.
  • After filling the pod for the first time, let it sit for five minutes before vaping it to allow e-liquid to properly soak in.

Charging

On the LCD display, you’ll be able to clearly see how much battery life is left in the Uwell Caliburn GK3. 5 bars of battery indicate that there is over 80% charge left, 4 bars indicate 60-80%, 3 bars indicate 40-60%, 2 bars indicate 20-40% and a single bar indicates 1-20%. If no bars are displayed, there will be no output from the device.

A USB-C charging cable is included in the kit and you simply need to plug this in to a power source and into the charging port located at the base of the device. I’ve found that it will take just under an hour to charge the device from flat to full.

caliburn gk3 usb port

Safety protections are built into the device, including short-circuit protection, low voltage protection, open-circuit protection, overcharge protection and an eight second vaping cut off.

How does the Uwell Caliburn GK3 perform?

In terms of flavour…it’s excellent! I can’t really find fault with the flavour that this device provides. I get a tasty, flavoursome vape from both the 0.6ohm and 0.9ohm pods, picking up the flavour notes in my e-liquids that I would expect to find there.

caliburn gk3 pod battery

It is definitely one of the better pod systems that I have tried in terms of flavour delivery and has an enjoyable, smooth vape.

I’ve definitely enjoyed my time puffing away on this. My preference is the 0.6ohm coil at 25W which suits my vaping style. The 0.9ohm coil is no slouch though, I’ve been using this to vape 20mg nicotine salt based e-liquids at 15W and found it to be excellent for this.

The difference between the 0.6ohm and 0.9ohm pods is that the 0.6ohm pod is designed for use with higher wattages. Getting the most out of the 25W max output of the device and delivering a warmer, restricted direct lung hit with the larger airflow setting.

uwell caliburn gk3 front view

The 0.6ohm pod is designed for a tighter, cigarette-like mouth to lung inhale with the smaller airflow setting and a max power output of 15W.

At the base of the pod, there are two airflow holes, with a larger and a smaller one. The larger one will deliver an airier vape and the smaller airflow hole will deliver a tighter one.

You simply change between the two by taking the pod out, rotating it 180° and re-inserting it into the Uwell Caliburn GK3.

It isn’t a device that is designed for delivering large clouds, but vapour production isn’t too bad at all with the 0.6ohm pod and the larger airflow setting. Having a good, long draw on this with the power turned up will deliver some pretty impressive clouds of vapour!

A 900mAh battery is built into the Uwell Caliburn GK3, which I haven’t had any issues with.

The vape seems to stay pretty consistent right down to the last bar of battery and I have averaged a day’s worth of full use from it before needing to pop it on to recharge. That is exactly what I would expect from a pod system these days.

Pros

  • Smooth, flavoursome vape
  • Large, clear screen with backlight option
  • Easy to use menu options
  • Great lifespan from the pods
  • Feels very lightweight
  • Competitively priced
  • Two different airflow options
  • Variable wattage allows you to tailor your vape
  • Ideal for nicotine salts
  • Battery lasts all day

Cons

  • Airflow not fully adjustable
  • Can be difficult to see how much e-liquid is left in the pod without first having to remove it
  • Mouthpiece can be difficult to remove from the pod unless you take the pod out first
  • Wattage only adjustable in 1W increments

Final Verdict

Uwell have scored another hit here with the Caliburn GK3 pod system!

Performance wise, I can’t really fault it. It offers a great restricted lung or mouth to lung hit, with plenty of flavour and the ability to adjust the wattage to suit your vape is excellent. The 900mAh battery keeps going all day too.

The large LCD screen is a real bonus with this kit. It’s clear, easy to see all the information displayed and viewable in all light conditions. Especially with the addition of the backlight, which makes the screen viewable even in the dark.

It offers plenty of value for money, packing all the features you could need for a pod system in such a small pocket friendly package!

So, what do you think of Uwell’s latest addition to the Caliburn range? Let us know in the comments below!

Uwell are an industry titan and they have focused efforts on developing different ranges of disposables, with their latest disposable efforts known as the Uwell DH600 Disposables.

These join others that Uwell have produced such as the Gabriel and Caliburn Bars.

uwell dh600 disposable review

Since they were founded in 2015, they have scored some huge hits with award-winning products such as the Uwell Crown range, Caliburn, Nunchaku, Valyrian and the absolutely amazingly named Ironfist!

These products have helped make Uwell a well-respected household name in the vaping industry.

The name Uwell originates from ‘I wish you well’, and they are based out of China. Uwell prioritise innovation and user experience, with their products manufactured to the highest possible standards with strict quality control systems in place.

They have expanded rapidly and their products are widely sold all over the world.

What Can We Expect From The Uwell DH600 Disposable Range?

Making up the Uwell DH600 Disposable range are ten different flavours and these are…

  • Watermelon
  • Grape
  • Blueberry
  • Red Fruits
  • Berry Lemonade
  • Mint Spring
  • Fresh Apple
  • Peach Soda
  • Gummy Bear
  • Mango

Quite the mouth-watering fruity selection!

Though saying that, as a fan of dessert and tobacco-based e-liquid, I would love for more dessert and tobacco based disposable efforts to come to the market, as it seems to be absolutely saturated with fruit flavours.

If any disposable manufacturers are reading this, get on it!

Anyway, back to the Uwell DH600 Disposable range. These come with a 1.2ohm mesh coil fitted and are pre-filled with a TPD friendly 2ml of 20mg nicotine salt based e-liquid. A non-rechargeable 500mAh battery is built into the device and each one is rated for up to 600 puffs.

A mouth-to-lung (MTL) vape can be found on the Uwell DH600 Disposables, similar to one you would get from a cigarette and the nicotine salt-based e-liquid is absorbed by your bloodstream quickly, giving you a quicker nicotine hit with smooth flavour delivery.

It’s a disposable device so these are ready to go right out of the box, ideal for convenience and for those new to vaping, simply take a draw on the disposable to activate it.

Vape Club have been kind enough to send over the full range of Uwell DH600 Disposables for us to review. I have been a fan of Uwell products since the early days of the excellent Uwell Crown, so let’s have a look at how their latest disposable efforts fare!

Specs/features

  • Ten different flavours
  • Pre-filled 2ml capacity
  • 20mg nicotine salt strength
  • 350mAh battery
  • 1.2ohm mesh coil
  • Rated for up to 600 puffs
  • Draw activated disposable vape
  • Mouth to lung (MTL) draw

Design and Build Quality

Each Uwell DH600 comes individually boxed, with the nicotine strength and relevant nicotine warning clearly printed on the front.

On one side of the box you’ll find the selected flavour displayed in large font, next to a QR code which enables you to check authenticity.

uwell-dh600-disposable-box

On the opposite side of the box, you’ll find the device specs. The base of the box has the licence numbers and manufacturing date. On the rear of the box you’ll find further information such as contact details, warnings and ingredients.

The device itself comes wrapped, so to use it you need to take it out of the wrapper and remove the silicone stopper from the base and the mouthpiece.

A cylindrical design is used for the DH600 Disposable, making it easy to hold and use, with a fixed mouthpiece and Polycarbonate casing.

uwell dh600 flavours

They are pretty lightweight, which is unsurprising when they only weigh 32g each! On the device itself, the Uwell logo is printed in Silver, along with the respective flavour and UKCA mark.

A pretty tight mouth-to-lung draw is present, as these devices are aimed at people making the switch from cigarettes and are likely to want the draw to replicate what they would get from a cigarette.

You only need to take a puff on the device to get it to work, as these are draw activated disposable devices and have no adjustable power settings or adjustable airflow to worry about.

A 500mAh battery is built in, which is more than enough to last and a tiny, almost pin-prick, sized LED lights up at the base whenever you take a draw. This will blink rapidly when the device has reached the end of its life.

I felt that the build quality of these disposables wasn’t great and the design of them isn’t particularly eye catching either, they feel a bit cheap in the hand.

You can actually rotate the casing around which at first I thought was a design fault, but after checking out Uwell’s website it turns out that this is intentional, as this is a ‘fidget’ feature! So if you are looking for a fidget that vapes, then look no further…

Then again, these are disposable vapes so they aren’t going to be something you’ll be keeping around for a while, the performance is what matters here!

With that in mind, let’s have a look at how I fared with each individual flavour.

Watermelon

watermelon-uwell-dh600

They say…

The Watermelon Uwell DH600 disposable vape is a distinct one-fruit blend. You’ll be able to taste juicy Watermelon on each inhale of this sweet, almost crisp summer-inspired vape

We say…

I have to be honest and say that I really didn’t get on with this one at all. As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, I’m no great fan of Watermelon flavours, yet I have been surprised by some recently and actually enjoyed them.

Unfortunately that wasn’t the case here. I got a fairly muted, artificial tasting Watermelon flavour with an off-putting chemical after-taste.

This could have done with some menthol or koolada to balance it out. As a result I couldn’t take more than a few puffs on it as I really didn’t get on with it at all.

Grape

grape-uwell-dh600

They say…

The Grape Uwell DH600 disposable vape showcases a classic berry flavour. A rich Grape provides sweet and juicy notes to this distinct fruit taste

We say…

OK this one really isn’t too bad, though I felt that the Grape flavour was a little on the muted side and could have been a bit stronger.

There’s an authentic tasting Black Grape flavour…and that is about it to report really! It pretty much does what it says in the description.

It’s nice, it captures the sweetness of Grape quite well despite being on the under-flavoured side, it isn’t overpowering and it was pleasant enough to vape on and enjoy. Not too bad!

Blueberry

blueberry-uwell-dh600

They say…

The Blueberry Uwell DH600 disposable vape is ideal if you’re looking for a sweet and simple berry blend. A punchy Blueberry delivers sharp notes that get mellowed by a juicy taste

We say…

I found this to be a bit of a bland Blueberry flavour. The flavour is there, it just isn’t terribly exciting, much like the Grape one I found it to be quite underflavoured. Even with taking long and slow draws on the device, I couldn’t really get much out of it unfortunately.

Red Fruits

red-fruits-uwell-dh600

They say…

The Red Fruits Uwell DH600 disposable vape draws upon exotic and garden fruit flavours. Each puff will layer sweet notes of Strawberry with a slightly tart Kiwi and a juicy-tasting Pomegranate

We say…

Red Fruits has got a bit more flavour to it! It has got a nice fruity punch and I can definitely detect the Strawberry blended with Kiwi.

Not so much the Pomegranate, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing as I’m not a fan of Pomegranate flavour! The flavours blend well together and make for a tasty, fruity and enjoyable experience.

Berry Lemonade

uwell-dh600-berry-lemonade

They say…

The Berry Lemonade Uwell DH600 disposable vape showcases bold berry and soda notes. On inhale, you’ll be hit with a sweet and tart fusion of mixed berries before a fizzy taste from Lemonade sets in

We say…

This had a lot of promise, but unfortunately the berry flavours just weren’t there for me! I can almost detect them on the inhale, but despite vaping on this multiple times throughout the day, I didn’t really pick up anything other than the fizzy Lemonade flavour notes.

It’s a shame as I was looking forward to a nice berry blast followed up with a citrusy Lemonade, but this one just didn’t deliver it.

It’s not offensive by any stretch, it’s just unfortunate that I couldn’t detect any berry or fruity notes in this one at all really.

Mint Spring

mint-spring-uwell-dh600They say…

The Mint Spring Uwell DH600 disposable vape delivers a cool chill in each inhale. The distinct taste of freshly-picked mint leaf runs alongside the sweet floral notes of this vape

We say…

This one I could really get on board with! Mint Spring is a nice, refreshing vape that brings fresh minty notes and a nice cool breeze of menthol along with it.

There’s also a nice sweetness on the undertone too. It reminded me of a cool glass of water flavoured with mint and I found it to be a lovely little subtle vape. Sometimes less is definitely more!

Fresh Apple

fresh-apple-uwell-dh600They say…

The Fresh Apple Uwell DH600 disposable vape features the crisp flavour of orchard fruit. A mix of sweet and sharp tastes is brought to this vape by the Green Apple notes

We say…

A straight forward Green Apple flavour, which is delivered pretty well. It’s got a crisp Green Apple vibe, quite understated though and not too punchy.

I did enjoy vaping on this, I found the Apple flavour to be quite sweet and refreshing, though I would have definitely liked the flavour to be a little bit stronger!

Peach Soda

uwell-dh600-peach-sodaThey say…

The Peach Soda Uwell DH600 disposable vape is a soda-inspired blend with a fruity twist. The sweet soft notes of Peach are complemented by a fizzy flavour on exhale

We say…

I did quite enjoy this one I must say. There’s plenty of Peach flavouring on the inhale, followed up with a pleasant fizzy note that lingers on the tongue.

The essence of an authentic Peach flavour has been captured really well and blends nicely with the fizzy notes.

I was left with a juicy and sweet mouth feel at the end, and I vaped though this one pretty quickly in the space of a day!

Gummy Bear

uwell-dh600-gummy-bear

They say…

The Gummy Bear Uwell DH600 disposable vape is a fusion of classic confectionary-inspired flavours. Each puff features the sugary taste of Gummy Bears, layering a mix of fruity notes to complement the candy

We say…

Normally I’ll give Gummy Bear flavours a wide berth, this one on the other hand I quite enjoyed. It’s a sweet, candied vape – which normally doesn’t suit my palate at all being a fan of dessert vapes, but it is not too in-your-face or over flavoured.

I get the same mouthfeel I would expect after eating an actual Gummy Bear, that thick and sticky sweetness that seems to hang around the palate for quite some time!

I think people who enjoy candy flavours will definitely get on well with this one, it’s a disposable vape that will satisfy any sweet tooth out there.

Mango

They say…

The Mango Uwell DH600 disposable vape is the ideal choice if you want a simple taste of the tropics. Every puff in this distinct vape delivers sweet and juicy notes of Mango

We say…

After being excited to try this one, unfortunately I felt a bit let down by the flavour. The Mango flavour is there, but I felt it to be a bit bland and muted.

It really seemed to lack the juiciness of a Mango and didn’t seem to have much substance to it, which is a shame as I am a sucker for a good Mango flavour.

Puff Count

Uwell rate the DH600 Disposables as offering up to 600 puffs from each one, but your experience may differ. Your own vaping habits can affect what you get out of them, such as how frequently you puff on them and how long you take a draw for.

I used the Fresh Apple flavour to measure how many puffs I got, marking down whenever I took a puff on the device. It clocked in at a very respectable 596 puffs before it bit the bullet!

That being said, the flavour was becoming very weak and muted towards the end and I didn’t feel like I was getting much of a nicotine hit by this point.

Final Review Verdict

There’s some really good flavours present in this range, such as the Mint Spring, Peach Soda and Fresh Apple and then there’s also some really underwhelming flavours here too.

I found some of them to be quite muted and they really could have done with a little extra punch in the flavour department.

These disposables have quite a tight mouth to lung draw compared to some of the other disposables I have been using recently, with discreet vapour production.

Definitely not one for the cloud chasers out there!

The flavours that I did enjoy from this range were very good indeed, I enjoyed giving them a go and a special mention has got to go to the Mint Spring flavour which was my pick of the bunch.

What To Expect From The Uwell Caliburn Explorer…

The first thing you might spot is the cross shaped fire button – there is a good reason for this…

caliburn explorer components

Basically this has 2 coils. Each side of the pod is a section of its own with its own e-liquid tank and its own coil.

caliburn explorer button

Therefore you can select which coil you want to use. If you have coils of different resistances it means you can switch between the two, or you can even combine or alternate!

Pressing the “up” bit of the cross button activates dual coil mode. This also means the contents of both tanks will be output together – so a mixture of both flavours. Plus this will give maximum vapour output!

caliburn explorer dual coil mode

You can use the left and right buttons to select from the left coil or right coil and the flavours in their tank.

caliburn explorer single coil mode

Or if you press the down button it will alternate between both coils and flavours.

caliburn explorer alternate

The coil resistances will of course affect the output. The device will select the appropriate output for each coil in use.

In theory when you combine them the resistance will half meaning two 0.8ohm coils will be 0.4ohm in total if used in dual coil mode. Therefore the device will output the maximum of 32W.

caliburn explorer pod features

When it comes to coils this gets even better! This is compatible with the Caliburn G and G2 coils so plenty of compatibility and choice. You get 2 each of the 0.8ohm and 1.2ohm coils in the kit.

caliburn x coils

Inside the device is a 1000mAh battery and 2A fast charging USB Type C port. LED indicators inform of device, battery and coil selection status.

In standard format the pod will hold 4ml of e-liquid – that is 2ml in each side of the pod. However for us poor souls with TPD regulations this is reduced to 2ml in total – 1ml in each side.

caliburn explorer capacity

A side fill port is provided for each compartment of the pod.

You get 2 airflow options – to change you remove the pod and rotate it 180° to align the opposite airflow inlet.

There are 4 colours to choose from: Black, Silver, Pink & Cyan and Orange & Black.

In theory this sounds very clever! A similar system was employed on the Crown M kit with a coil with two resistance options which our Neil C found to work well!

Just imagine all the resistance and flavour combinations which could be at your fingertips!

More Details On The Uwell Whirl F…

This is a vape pen style device with a Hexagonal profile.

whirl f design

The first thing that caught my eye is the Spinner! If you look on the image below, it is the Gold coloured textured area. This basically is a fidget spinner which you can spin around to keep your fingers amused. Something ex-smokers might find helpful as you often feel like your hands are bored without a cigarette.

Inside the device is a 450mAh battery which charges using the USB Type C cable included in the kit.

whirl f components

It will output up to 11W and operation is super simple as this has auto draw firing. This system fires automatically when you inhale on the mouthpiece.

An LED indicator displays the device status and battery charge remaining.

whirl f features

The tank section is a removable refillable pod. The coil is fixed inside the pod, so you will discard this when the vape performance has deteriorated. No messy coil changes to contend with.

Also this uses the “Pro-FOCS” technology – I have no idea what it is but the Uwell kits which have this, give out epic flavour!

whirl f pro focs

Inside the pod is a 1.2ohm coil which is ideal for those needing higher nicotine e-liquid to help quit the ciggies.

whirl f pod features

A side fill port is provided and the pod will hold up to 2ml of your own e-liquid.

There are 4 colours to choose from: Champagne, Black, Blue and Green.

I did initially think the fidget spinner was a bit gimmicky. However ex-smokers do often find their hands feel empty and weird without a cigarette. So it might actually be a clever idea!
