The new Sense Herakles Pod kit is a 40W hybrid AIO system combining together the portability of a pod device with the flexible power of a box mod.

Sense Technology Co Ltd is based in Shenzhen, Guangdong China and have some interesting products listed on their webpage.
Sense Herakles Pod Kit header1

We’ve reviewed a number of the company’s vape devices including: the Orbit Baby, Orbit Pod System, the Arrow kit, and the Screen Tank.

Sense are also known for its three generations of Herakles sub ohm tanks.

What Can We Expect From the Sense Herakles Pod Mod?

To be honest when I opened the box I thought I was looking at the Smok RPM40 they are basically twins with the exception of the branding and sidelights of the Herakles, their appearances are remarkably similar.Sense Herakles Pod Kit Herakles and RPM

Both kits have in built batteries of 1500mAh – both offer a maximum 40W output.

The pods are slightly different with the Herakles pod being much larger at 6ml and comes with coils with antibacterial cotton which is supposed to increase the flavour.Sense Herakles Pod Kit check hand

Sense have released the Herakles Pod Mod in 5 colours, with flashing sidelights can we say that this pod system is unique enough to get attention?Sense Herakles Pod Kit 2 header

Let’s take an up and close and detailed look at it and find out!

This product was sent to me for the purpose of review.

As always my thoughts and views are my own after a considerable testing period.

FYI: Herakles is from Greek mythology or Hercules in Roman, he was represented as an enormously strong man of moderate height, a huge eater and drinker, very amorous, and generally kindly but with occasional outbursts of brutal rage!

So did this one turn me into Mr Angry Vaper?

Design and Build Quality

The Kit comes nicely displayed in a cardboard box with an over sleeve and a foam tray inner.

As you can see I have been sent the rainbow Herakles Pod mod.Sense Herakles Pod Kit content

Herakles Pod Mod

Like the Smok RPM the Herakles has a cubic shape, the mod has the appearance of being slightly taller than the RPM, this is down to the larger mouth piece.

Measuring in with a body diameter of 27mm, the pod bay measures at 25.2mm and the device has an overall length of 104.5mm with the pod in place.

Just like the RPM the device feels very comfortable in the hand and overall, I would say that the design has been done well with a good quality of manufacture.Sense Herakles Pod Kit kit

From the Top

Looking into the pod bay, you will see 2 gold plated spring loaded contact points, and 4 strong magnets that hold the pod in position with no movement.Sense Herakles Pod Kit bay

To each side of the mod you will note carbon fibre stickers, along with LED lights – more about those later.Sense Herakles Pod Kit sticker led

On the back of the device you will see branding as well as the Herakles logo.Sense Herakles Pod Kit advert

There’s a colourful screen with all information you would expect to see from this type of device.Sense Herakles Pod Kit screen

Along with the usual fire and adjustment buttons: a 3rd adjustment button has been included, and this is for the operating the LED lights.Sense Herakles Pod Kit charge

On the bottom of the device you will find the micro USB charging port and the obligatory CE and recycle marks printed in white, and unlike the RPM the base is more of a square.Sense Herakles Pod Kit port

6ml Pod and Coils

You get 2 square pods with the kit, both of which take replaceable PnP coils.

The pods are is made of plastic and fit really well into the Herakles body, with no movement of the magnets.

Whilst the colour of the pod is dark, you are able to see the remaining liquid quite easily by removing it.Sense Herakles Pod Kit pod empiy

The pod has 4 magnets at its base that hold firmly to those within the body, and a large space for the insertion of a plug n play coil.Sense Herakles Pod Kit bottom and top

On one side of the body of the pod you will see a black silicone plug with an arrow, this is to cover your fill port.Sense Herakles Pod Kit open port

The mouth piece of the pod is black, and as I said earlier it is slightly taller than the RPM, the slot is however the same size, the mouth piece and pod are made as one complete unit.Sense Herakles Pod Kit mouth piece

Included with the kit are 2 plug n play coils and both are 0.4Ω single mesh with a recommended wattage of 15 to 30w.Sense Herakles Pod Kit pod coils

As a bonus Smok RPM 0.4Ω replacement stock coils do fit and work well with this unit as does the Smok RBA coil head even better the Reewape RBA also fits and works well.Sense Herakles Pod Kit coil diff

The Pod is constructed well – the design is very good, though as far as the quality goes I say it feels on the cheaper side!

How Does the Sense Herakles Pod Kit Perform?

For this example I will be using one of the supplied 0.4Ω coils.

The liquid I will be using is Coastal Clouds Lemon Meringue Pie.in hand

Basic Quick Start Guide

  • Prep your coil by dripping a few drops of liquid into the top of the coil.coil prep
  • Place the coil into the pod by simply pushing it into the pod from the bottom.port plug tight
  • To fill the pod with E-liquid, flip open the silicone bung and fill through the fill port.pod fill
  • Replace the bung tightly.closed port
  • Place the pod into the body of the Herakles, and leave the kit standing for 2 or 3 minutes before use, this is to allow the cotton within the coil to soak up more liquid; Sense say 5 to 8 minutes but in my experience as long as you prep the coil 2 or 3 minutes will be enough.

When it comes time to change out the coil for a new one, I would suggest that you empty the pod or risk a flood.coil pod

Sense Herakles Pod Kit Battery

Make sure your battery is fully charged before using this device for the first time, I say this because mine came to me with less than a ¼ charge!Kit charge

Sense Herakles Pod Mod – Fire Button

  • 5 times will turn the device on and off.
  • 1 press will fire the device.
  • 3 presses will switch on the power lock function to unlock 3 presses again; you cannot vape while the power is locked!

Adjustment Buttons

  • Holding both will lock the wattage, repeat to unlock again; you can still vape when the wattage is locked.
  • The device will adjust from 5 to 40w.

Sense Herakles Pod Kit Flavour and Vapour Production

20 to 32W

Starting with 20W the vapour production was impressive!Pod Kit toot

Flavour wise, I was not impressed with the antibacterial cotton in the coils.

Maybe because the cotton is unfamiliar to me, but I got what I can only describe as a musty taste not pleasant for me at all.Pod Kit face

Although Sense say these coil can only vape up to 30W I have been vaping them at 32W with no problem!

Again the vapour production was good, the flavour again for me was yuck – I changed the coil out for an RPM 0.4Ω coil (much better lol).

Talking about the RPM coils, they have a slightly more squared base to them compared to the Sense coils so they are a tighter fit but work wonderfully.coil push pod

The draw for both coils was a little on the loose side, much more of a direct to lung than a mouth to lung draw!check toot

Sense Herakles Pod Kit Battery Life and Performance

Battery life for this kit is quite acceptable – from a full charge I am able to get 3.5 hours at 32W.

Filling the pod is easy, I will recommended however that you make sure the bung is in tightly as I found one time I didn’t check it well enough and the silicone bung popped out and flooded the pod bay on me lol, apart from that I have had no leaks from around whatever coils I have tested.

Because this pod is a large pod (6ml) the kit it is not available for purchase in the EU at the moment.

I have heard that there will be a 2ml version released but when that will be I don’t know.plastic pod

Like all pod devices in my tests I did shake the device to see if the pod came loose, it doesn’t even with very violent shaking!

Pros

  • Good Quality
  • Fair Design
  • Good flavour with Smok coils
  • More than adequate vapour production

Cons

  • Antibacterial Cotton (subjective)
  • Very familiar design (subjective)

Final Review Verdict

To answer my own question at the start of this review – is this kit unique enough to get attention?

For my own personal tastes No I wouldn’t call it unique, in most respects they have just copied an existing design and added led lights to it!

Regarding the sidelights, in my mind are just gimmicks that we have seen with other mods but at least with these they can be turned off so they don’t annoy.

I don’t personally like the taste of the antibacterial cotton Sense have used in the coils so I will give Sense credit for making the Herakles pods compatible with the Smoke RPM coils and RBA heads as this make the kit much more versatile for me use the kit alongside the RPM.

Would I recommend the Sense Herakles Pod Mod?

“Yes” if for no other reason than the large 6ml pod and replaceable coils!

The mod itself is very easily understood with no learning curve to the operation.

Would I buy this Mod again due loss or damage?

I will say maybe!

While I said in the review the Herakles is basically a twin of the Smok RPM – Sense has not quite captured the quality of the RPM although it is very close.

The Sense Orbit Baby is one of the latest POD/AIO kits from Sense and is an MTL device using mesh coils.

It’s a tiny device with just two power settings, and no buttons – so an interesting way to change power, which we’ll of course get into.

Sense Orbit Baby review

Sense Technology Co. Ltd are based out of Shenzhen China, they have a number of products out there, the Sense Screen Tank, The Sense Blazer Mini tank and the Sense Orbit Pod system to name just a few.

You may find it difficult to find some of their products in brick and mortar stores but they are readily available in a number of online stores.

What Can We Expect From The Sense Orbit Baby?

The Orbit Baby is draw activated vape device that uses replaceable stock mesh coils placed into a 2ml capacity pod.

This is a small device that completely fits in the palm of your hand so it is easily kept in your pocket, or you can attach it to a lanyard using the lanyard holes on the top corner of the device.

Zinc Alloy and PC construction, available in 6 colours/designs.

It comes with one refillable pod and a couple of 1.0ohm coils.

colour options

So, let’s get into this and find out how this ‘lil pod system will work out for any level of vaper.

This kit was sent to me for the purposes of this review, I will give you my honest opinion, and I have been testing this product for a couple of weeks.

Design and Build Quality

This is a small quite stylish design; the zinc alloy and PC construction is smooth in the hand.

It’s also easily hidden in the hand, pocket, or lanyard for a stealth setup.

Checkout our guide: 9 Small Vape Mods You Need To See

The Sense Orbit Baby is aimed at new vapers and existing vapers looking for something easy while they are on the go.

Sense Orbit Baby in hand

The build quality is excellent, no rattles no matter how much you shake it.

The pod inserts snugly into the main device and you have no fear of it falling out.

There is a slice of the clear pod left visible when inserted into the device to give easy visibility of what juice is remaining in the pod.

The USB charge port is located on the side of the device with a small LED above it.

The LED will light up when on charge or the device is in use.

One small issue with the design, the base of the device is curved, it will stand upright on a desk but will fall over with the slightest bump so don’t leave it near the edge.

Fire Button | Airflow

There is no fire button on this device, this is purely a pull to activate vape.

As I mentioned earlier, there are two power settings with the device.

With no power button, the power is changed by taking 5 quick puffs from the device, the LED will flash after this, white for normal power and green for high power.

The airflow itself is quite airy, a bit too airy for my personal preference and would be comparable to a very light cigarette, somewhat like a Silk Cut…remember those!

The airflow is not adjustable, although it is quite open, the flavour is still there.

The Sense Orbit Baby Coils

The Sense Orbit Baby comes supplied with two 1.0ohm Orbit XS mesh coils, please note that neither of these come preinstalled, so make sure and fit one before you put juice in the pod.

pod and coil separate

So, let’s start off with fitting one of the coils into the pod.

This is very easy to do, firstly pull the pod from the device, take the coil and insert it into the bottom of the pod, no screwing necessary, just give it a good firm press.

One thing I would say, you will see that the coil is held in place by the O rings, make sure the bottom O ring is seated properly in the pod, no bends or twists.

You might need to take it out and replace a couple of times to get the O ring to sit right, you don’t want to risk any leaks.

We will go over filling the pod in the next section.

With priming the coils, I only filled the pod and left it for about 8 minutes.

The coils are quite small so priming them by placing a drop of juice on the cotton holes and one down the main chimney isn’t necessary, as long as you leave it for a bit to soak.

If you do place some down the middle of the coil, I would recommend a single drop, again, it is a small coil and you risk getting that irritating gurgling flooding noise with you first several vapes.

Read more: Priming Your Coils and Why You Should!

Sense Orbit Baby XS Coils

The coils themselves perform very well, I have used the same coil for two weeks now without any performance degradation.

I did swap the coil for a couple of days trying different flavours but I always reverted back to the first coil to test its sustainability.

How To Change The Sense Orbit Baby Coil

Replacing the coil couldn’t be simpler, although, if your pod is full of juice, you are going to have some spillage:

Sense Orbit Baby inserting coil

  • Simply pull out the pod from the mod
  • Pull out the old coil
  • Push in the new coil, making sure bottom O ring remains straight
  • Fill pod with juice and pop the pod back into the device.

straight O ring

That’s it, once filled and primed for 5 to 10 minutes, you are good to go.

How to fill the Sense Orbit Baby

It is very simple:

  • Pull out the pod from the device
  • Hold the pod upside down and open the rubber bung, it is attached to the pod so you don’t have to worry about dropping it
  • Fill with your preferred juice
  • Place the rubber bung back into the hole firmly
  • Place the pod back into the device and leave to stand for 5 to 10 minutes before vaping to allow the e-liquid to soak through coil.

How to fill the Sense Orbit Baby pod with juice

Sense recommend waiting 5 minutes after each refill, I had never let the pod run completely dry so I didn’t have any issues vaping straight after a refill.

How Does The Sense Orbit Baby Perform?

Lets get into the coils and filling the pod in a wee second, I just want to note that there is a 4 second cut off mid draw while vaping, this is a safety feature to stop it from overheating.

This can be a little irritating on some devices, but it doesn’t take too much away from the vape, probably one of the benefits with it being so airy.

I myself like to take long draws, normally around the 6 plus second mark, in the case of the Sense Orbit Baby, it was cutting off literally a second before I finished each pull.

Juice window

Flavour and Vapour Production

I use the same juices in all reviews to keep the scoring consistent.

The juices used were: Pure Mist 50/50 VG/PG – Vampire Vape Pinkman 60/40 VG/PG and Excision Harambe 70/30 VG/PG

All juice was tried on two power levels.

With the Pure mist, which contains standard nicotine, I didn’t find any difference between the normal and strong power settings.

There was flavour there but it wasn’t a wow factor, pretty average to be honest: 5 out of 10.

The Vampire Vape Pinkman, which is a nic salt juice, a big improvement on flavour, again, not picking up much difference between the normal and strong but either way the flavour is good: 8 out of 10.

The flavour from the Excision Harambe, now I was a little worried about this one, the coils are small and I had some doubts that they would be able to keep up with a 70/30 juice.

Amazingly I chained this juice for two minutes straight and the coils kept up.

The flavour as well was very good: 9 out of 10.

Vapor production is not going to hot box any rooms, this is a MTL device so we wouldn’t be expecting it too.

Read more:

Sense Orbit Baby Coil Life

After two weeks of use there is still plenty of life left in the little Orbit XS coil, I’m getting no signs of any burnt taste, I would fully expect maybe another week or two before I would need to change.

As with all reviews I am not using overly sweet juice which will have an impact on the colouring and clogging of the cartridge.

Sense Orbit Baby Mesh Coil

Airflow | Draw

As I said near the start, this is a very open airflow, not quite like an open straw but comparable to a Silk Cut purple smoke.

Juice Consumption

I was beginning to wonder if this was using juice at all, it is exceptionally thrifty and a pod full will more than likely last you quite a while, obviously if you intend to chain all day will need to open that rubber bung a couple more times.

Vapour Production

To be honest, this probably produces a bit more vapour than most devices in this area, considering the size of the device and the size of the coils.

With the mesh coil it is creating a bit of cloud, but again you are not going to be hot boxing any rooms, probably not even the broom closet.

Battery Life

The 460mAh battery really does fully charge in an hour, from this depending on your usage, you should get the best part of a day from it.

You can expect between 4 to 5 hours of reasonable chain vaping under a full charge as well.

charging

Charging the device is simple, plug in the Micro USB cable into the side and within the hour you will have a fully charged battery.

The Sense Orbit Baby can be used while charging, as a safety measure, the device will stop charging whilst it is being used and begin charging again when you are finished.

Pros

  • Economic Design
  • Easy to use
  • Fits in any pocket
  • Excellent Battery Life
  • Mesh Coils giving good flavour

Cons

  • A bit too airy
  • 4 second cut off
  • Curved base

Final Review Verdict

So when this came through, I was fully expecting a small AIO device with pretty common wire coils and more than likely little flavour.

The fact that this tiny device has mesh coils is a big plus for me.

A lot more manufacturers should be looking at mesh for the AIO devices.

The vape itself is not bad, yes it’s a bit on the open side for me but the flavour is there.

With nic salt you will also have a bit of a throat hit, I think this would have been a stronger hit with a bit more restriction on the airflow.

It’s a very simple device to use, and I think the way you change from normal to strong is pretty cool.

Is it going to keep a new vaper off the stinkies?

I guess that depends on what you smoked or are smoking!

The Sense Screen Tank has been out for a while and from what I have seen online has been very well received! This seemed to sneak under the radar of many people until word of mouth got it noticed!

screen tank main image

Sense have made a name for themselves for creating other fan favourites such as the Herakles, Cyclone and Blazer Mini tanks.

Following on from the wonderful Freemax Mesh Pro the Sense Screen tank was one of the first multi mesh coil head sub ohm tanks. You get a Dual and Triple coil in the kit with a quad coil available separately.screen tank coils

With a 7ml bubble glass and a 4.5ml straight glass included in the kit there is plenty of capacity for e-liquid. The glass size will be reduced for TPD compliance in EU Countries.

The top cap slides to reveal a top filling port and there is an adjustable airflow ring on the tank base.

There were 2 releases – the original tank was a plain affair with a single base colour and white ripples through it. These came in Red, Black or Blue versions.screen tank std colours

The second release included a Wooden Version (?), plus 3 Resin versions in Black & White, Red & Purple and Blue & White.screen tank resin colours

I received the item free of charge for review and as always will report back honestly on my findings of the device in my possession!

Build Quality & Design

My Sense Screen Tank is the later Resin edition in the Red and Purple colour.screen tank full view

The packaging was pretty good – a plastic hard shell with a wrap around sleeve. Inside the hard shell everything was laid out nicely.

The instructions were a bit well – poo to put it bluntly. They are just printed on the underside of the cardboard insert in the package and that is all you get. For instance there is nothing to explain how to change the coil head.screen tank instructions

I have to say there isn’t one tank in the Screen range which is particularly “pretty”. I think that Sense really needed to produce some plain resin or metal versions as the looks have put a lot of people off purchasing this tank.

Mine looked like a red tank with black streaks through it – the purple colour wasn’t very clear in most lights.screen tank on mod

On top of the tank is a resin 810 drip tip. This did confuse me initially as I couldn’t remove it from the tank. So I started to turn it to see if that would help loosen it. The drip tip then unscrewed leaving a metal part sticking up from the tank.screen tank drip tip sleeve

However this metal part was simply a connector from the drip tip to the tank and the resin part of the drip tip screwed onto this like a sleeve.screen tank 810 drip tip

The kit also included a curious resin thingy. Which once I had sussed out why the drip tip appeared to screw on – turns out to be a 510 drip tip adaptor!sense screen 510 adaptorscreen tank 510 drip tip

I had to ask a few people online what it was as initially with the metal 810 sleeve still inside the top of the tank I hadn’t got a clue where this went. Doh – I am blonde, and very very tired…

The top cap slides to open with a small arrow on the metal ring below the top cap. This isn’t garish (like the Freemax Mesh Pro red dot!) but can be hard to see in some lights.screen tank fill arrow

I found the top cap had plenty of resistance to sliding – more than the Freemax tank so should be less likely to open in a pocket or bag.

I had the 7ml bubble glass already fitted and it does look a bit strange but not as ridiculous as say the Smok TFV8 Baby V2 with the huge bubble glass and short tank.

The base of the tank has the adjustable airflow ring which moved very smoothly – but there was a good reason for that – see below!screen tank coil dual

On the bottom of the tank is the Sense and Screen tank branding along with the required legal logos.screen tank bottom view

Initially this felt like a well made – if not a big ugly tank!

7ml Capacity – Pro or a Con?

My Screen tank really did not make a good impression. In fact swearing in front of your In-Laws the first time you meet them would be a better first impression.

Leaking

I put the tank on my mod and filled the whole 7ml bubble glass. Within an hour the 7ml was all down the side of the mod and my desk.

I took the tank apart and made sure everything was screwed in properly as I have had some tanks with loose coils etc.

So not wanting to risk killing my mod I set the tank on a tank stand and filled up again. This time I sat it on a pile of tissue – smart move huh!

Next morning – you guessed it – 7ml of e-liquid contained in a very soggy tissue and sod all actually left in the tank.

So I thought I will give this one more chance. I took the tank apart and I replaced the bottom O-ring (sadly no more red O-rings in the pack so I have a black O-ring at the bottom and a red one at the top now!). Also I installed the triple mesh coil and just had a good look around and couldn’t really see anything which would cause a leak.

I did find it was very hard to get the thread on the triple mesh coil to start without going in wonky and trying to cross thread. It took ages to get it to start.

So I left it again with it on a tank stand – only filled up halfway and thankfully after 3 days it appears to have kept the e-liquid inside the tank. Which means I can possibly risk using this on a box mod now!

Set-up Guide

The tank comes fully assembled with the dual coil installed. So you just need to fill the tank, attach to a mod and away you go (in theory!)

My advice after the leaking issues is to fill it and leave the tank standing on some tissue – just in case of leaks and then you won’t kill your mod.
screen tank components

How To Fill The Sense Screen Tank

  • Look for the small arrow on the top of the tank and slide the top of the tank across at this point.sense screen filling port
  • Fill the tank with e-liquid through the fill port.
  • Keep an eye on the e-liquid level through the tank glass.screen tank refilling
  • Slide the top cap back into original position.
  • If this is the first time filling or a new coil has been installed make sure to leave the tank for at least 10-15 minutes after filling to make sure the coil has fully absorbed the e-liquid. If it hasn’t you will get a “dry hit” which is vile with a mesh coil!

How To Install The Coil Head

  • The tank should be less than half full to do this. If it is more than half full you could have some e-liquid spilling – so do this over a tissue!
  • Turn the tank upside down and unscrew the base from the tank.screen tank coil installed
  • If a coil is already installed this should just screw out.screen tank coil removed
  • Screw a new coil into the base.
  • Replace the base onto the tank.
  • Fill as described above.

How Does the Sense Screen Tank Perform?

Flavour & Cloud Production

This is a Sub Ohm tank which therefore means you need to choose your e-liquid wisely.

Sub ohm tanks are designed for higher VG e-liquid – I would say 70%VG upwards. I used my usual Stika Bombz Fruit Salad which is 80% VG and 6mg Nicotine.

You won’t need high nicotine levels for this tank so I would say 6mg nicotine is maximum. Any more than that at high power will be mega harsh.

We tell you more about e-liquid and VG and PG in our Guide.

As these coils can run at quite high power it would be better to use this tank on at least a dual battery mod. I used my Smoant Naboo mod for this test.

Airflow wise at fully open there is a slight restriction – not as open as say the Smok TFV12 Prince tanks – and you can close the airflow down to nothing. So plenty of adjustment.

I tend to use a restricted DTL and found setting the airflow in the Mid position suited me best.

S2 Dual Coil

This is a dual mesh coil – 0.23ohm resistance and rated 60-135W (best at 80-110W).

Whilst changing back to the S2 coil (from the S3) I also changed the tank glass to the 4.5ml spare glass – just to see if the leaks stopped. Sadly again still some coming through the airflow inlets – was worth a bash though! See I desperately want this tank to work!screen tank 4-5ml glass

Starting at 60W the flavour was already kicking right in – wow and much “wetter” vape than the S3 coil – i.e. not as dry vapour? Am I making any sense at all?

Moving up to 70W and still beautiful but the vapour felt a bit hot on my lips. Might just be me being a girly wuss but it did. Honestly I felt this as very warm – almost to the point of not really wanting to go much higher power wise!

Ok I will put my big girl knickers on and at 80W this really is hot now. The vapour is abundant and pours out when you exhale. The flavour is still excellent but it’s a bit hot for me to take a long vape.

At 90W it feels like it is burning my tongue – but it is still wicking well – no dry hits and plenty of flavour. I will try one vape at 100W see if I can hack it.

At 100W it started to feel a bit spitty and way too hot for me to inhale much on. But I did a few short vapes and it was wicking fine.

For me 65-70W was where I like this best even then though I am taking shorter vapes than I did on the S3 coil because of the heat! Wow what a beast this coil is!

S3 Triple Coil

This is a triple mesh coil – 0.34ohm resistance and rated 60-150W (best at 80-120W).

So I started at 70W and wow tons of vapour and throat hit already. The flavour was slightly muted compared to the Mesh Pro but still pretty decent.

I am getting a lot of gurgling though I think there is still something not quite right with my tank and some liquid oozing out of the airflow inlet. Not as bad as when I first filled the tank though but enough to affect performance.

Moving up to 80W and the flavour is bursting out now – wonderful! 90W is more of the same just a bit warmer – but still not too hot or threatening “Dry Hit” territory!

I am up to 100W and it’s cloudy in here – wow my poor lungs – but again still plenty of flavour, no dry hits and the cloudzzzz bro!Screen tank smoant naboo

At 110W still working beautifully and just for research purposes I did go up to 120W and the vapour was starting to feel a bit drier – if that makes any sense. I think if you chain vape at this power level you might start getting wicking issues.

Plus running this tank over 100W you are guzzling the e-liquid I did have to keep filling up! The tank does get very hot when vaping regularly – again with higher power tanks this may be the norm but not something I am used to with my Freemax Tanks?

My verdict is the clouds from this are immense and around 80-90W was where my lungs could cope. The flavour is excellent too!

Pros

  • Slide top fill has some resistance
  • 7ml capacity (could be a “Con” if it leaks!)
  • 510 and 810 drip tip compatible
  • Decent kit of spares including glass and O-rings
  • Coils are bursting with flavour
  • Soooo much vapour!

Cons

  • Leaked through 14ml of E-liquid before I had even vaped a drop!
  • Not the nicest looking tank in my opinion
  • Instructions poor
  • Tank does get very hot during use

Final Review Verdict

If this was prettier and didn’t leak like a badly run sewage works this would have got almost full marks.

The leaks were a nightmare – I couldn’t even risk leaving the tank without first closing the airflow adjustment. I haven’t seen many people online complain about leaks so sadly mine might just be a rogue tank. I have seen a few posts showing the wooden version cracking in places such as the airflow adjustment ring.

It has to be said I think this is a really ugly tank too. A plain colour or metal version would make this sell out super quick – so do consider it Sense!

The flavour and vapour performance however is epic – I am wondering if the Sense Screen coils will fit in another tank as they are so good! The tank itself is the let down here – the coils are incredible!

Sometimes in order to get huge vapour you trade flavour and airflow off against each other. However both coils in the Sense Screen Tank give you both! Flavour and Vapour are huge!

Just a quick look through the specs tell me this could be a rival for the incredible Smok Nord – which incidentally has kept me off ciggies for 26 days so far!orbit white poster

Like the Nord this has an internal 1100mAh battery which is a really decent size for a pod mod and they say it takes only 1.5 hours to fully charge.orbit red poster

You can also choose from 3 power modes – soft, normal and hard to suit your style and also the coil you have installed.orbit pod power modes

The pod design uses a side fill port again the same as the Nord and push in coils – again looks “Nordy” to me too!orbit pod instructions

The kit includes 2 coils – a 0.6ohm mesh and a standard 1.1ohm coil so should be useful for DTL and MTL vaping styles – read our guide to tell you more about those terms!orbit pod coils

There are 6 colours to choose from – White, Rainbow, Wine Red, Gold, Cyan and Mixed Grey.

The Sense V-Jet Kit is a 230W mod using dual 18650 batteries.

I hadn’t heard of the manufacturer “Sense” before but having a look round and on Ecigclick we have reviewed some tanks from them in the past, including the Sense Blazer Mini Tank and the Sense Herakles RTA 2. Both of these tanks scored highly with the Blazer Mini winning a rare 5/5!

I do hope that Sense continue their tradition of great products with this Mod.

It looks really lovely and the kit includes the V-Jet tank.
Vjet componentsThe mod will operate in various modes – Variable Wattage, Variable Temperature, TCR and something called “TCF” of which means nothing to me!

There is a TFT LCD screen which on the marketing images shows a clock and a calendar – which would be very useful!

There appears to be 5 colours available:  Red, Black, Green, Yellow and Blue and they do look great in the images.

Isn’t this a stunner!

I love the colour screen and being able to have the time and date showing – I don’t wear a watch so constantly have to keep getting my mobile out to see the time or date.

The power output is excellent and more than most vapers will ever need.

The top fill system of the tank makes filling up easier. However there is no mention of the resistance of the supplied coil heads or what type they are? Which will be a bit of a shock when you need to buy replacements.

Would it make sense to get one of these to add to your collection? Let me know in the comments below!

The Sense Blazer Mini, produced by Shenzen based SenseTech, may not be known to your average vaper in the street and may not boast a list of products as long as some of the better known giants, what I can say is that they’ve been releasing some quality gear lately.

Not least of which are the cloud churning Blazer 200 Sub Ohm Tank, the incredible Herakles tank range (especially the RTA) and of course the impressive Blazer mod series.

The brand is continuing to make a name for itself in my books with it’s addition to the insane range of mini sub Ohm tanks currently hitting our stores.

The Sense Blazer Mini

The Sense Blazer Mini Sub Ohm Tank and let me tell you, the more I use it, the more I like it and I’ve been using it a lot lately! I’ve been enjoying the 0.4 Ohm coil with this tank for a few days now but can it reach the best sub ohm tank list?

It hits easier and gives me deeper flavour than a good number of lower resistance coils on other popular mini sub Ohm tanks I own so: I’m pretty damn impressed.

What’s In The Box

  • 1 X Sense Blazer Mini Tank
  • 1 x 1 X O.6 Ohm Coil Head
  • 1 X 0.4 Ohm Coil Head (0.2 Ohm also available)
  • 1 X Replacement Pyrex
  • Extra Seals In Alternative Colours & Extra Gaskets and O-rings

Features

  • Convenient Hinged Top Cap
  • Top Filling
  • 3.6ml Juice Capacity
  • Stainless Steel Construction
  • Adjustable Bottom Airflow
  • Various Coil Options
  • 60.6 mm x 22.8 mm

Build Quality & Design

To be perfectly honest with you, I didn’t like the Sense Blazer Mini tank at first.

I opened up the neat, compact transparent plastic box and felt that it lacked finesse and sleekness.sense blazer mini review

It’s detail heavy and rather rugged looking (especially the stainless finish like I have).

The hinged top cap is particularly thick, as is the base where the adjustable airflow sits: both feature prominent grip texturing and the top cap has the logo emblazoned on it.

That, combined with the loud wick holes all round just give it a busy and industrial look that I soon grew to love when I realized how well this tank performed.

I felt like the top cap could have been reduced to make way for more e-juice but in the end, that adds to the rugged and durable feel of the tank and the hinged door is a priceless feature that just feels that much better because of that safely thick piece of metal at the top.

I say I didn’t like it at first but I definitely like it now.

The tank is heavy, just like it looks and having dropped it once from quite a height onto a hard as hell floor, I know that it’s near indestructible.

Once you realize what an awesome tank this is, you start to see how good it actually looks too: although the old school, mechanical aesthetic won’t match every mini mod, it’s going to look awesome on the Blazer range, Alien 220W, all you can do is try!

As far as breaking down the tank goes, to clean, change coils or replace the seals with the multicolored ones included in the pack…this is one of the easiest breakdowns.

Everything unscrews where it’s supposed to and I never got the impression, as I so often do with mini tanks (or any tanks actually) that the thing was going to break because I had to strain so hard. It’s a smooth operator.

Accessories

I won’t lie, I’m a little bit sad that the 0.2 Ohm coil isn’t included in the kit but I was so surprised by the performance of the 0.4 Ohm coil that I’ve been vaping happily on it for a week now.

Oh and I like the inclusion of alternative color seals that you can fit for some matchy matchy and now that I’ve got one red and one white ring, this thing looks so cute and industrial.

How Does The Sense Blazer Mini Perform?

We all make mistakes, I enjoyed a dry hit when I couldn’t wait to get the show on the road but after a few good soaks and a half a day’s getting used to the Sense Blazer Mini has become, quite possibly my new favorite mini tank.

That, my vaping friends, is purely based on the fact that I’m getting a better vape of 0.4 Ohm coils than I’ve been getting off coils with half the resistance on other, really popular mini sub Ohms.

In the week I’ve been vaping on this tank I’ve experienced absolutely no leakage, splutter or gurgle, even when the tank is full to the brim.

Using Apollo Boss E Liquid I found it to be the smoothest, cleanest vape I’ve had in a while but I felt like the coils or at least the cotton, took a little breaking in, at first the flavour seemed harsh but now it’s so so smooth and flavorsome.

Airflow

The bottom airflow is adjustable via a huge belt with rather attractive looking grip texturing, its quite a tight twist but then…nothing should be too easy, except the vape.

The overall vape is so incredibly smooth on this device that, even when the airflow is near closed it still has an airy feel.

Opening the flow right up you get a smooth intake sound and it feels like you must be breathing straight air only the clouds tell a whole different story.

A great tank to use with the best e liquids out there to get a full on flavour profile.

How To Fill The Sense Blazer Tank

  • Slightly twist the top cap grip to the right
  • Open the hinged top cap/lid
  • Fill through one of the kidney holes in the gasket, avoiding the central shaft
  • Close lid and twist grip to the left to lock
  • If it’s a fresh coil leave it to sit in the juice for 5 minutes
  • Enjoy

Oh happy days and bless SenseTech for this hinged door, hello people but…why don’t all tanks have a hinged lid!?!

I love convenience and I love this. Plus the hinge is thick and chunky and feels completely indestructible.

How To Change the Sense Blazer Coil

  • Screw the pyrex and fixed coil housing off the base
  • Unscrew the coil from it’s seating
  • Change Coil
  • Replace Pyrex

Stock Coil Performance

So the pack comes with a 0.4 Ohm coil installed and an extra 0.6 Ohm coil in the kit. There’s a 0.2 Ohm coil available that I can’t wait to get my hands on.sense blazer mini coils

0.6Ohm Coil

The 0.6 Ohm coil provides a cool yet really satisfying vape with more clouds and flavour than you’d ever expect from that resistance.

It vapes like a charm and is perfect for use on a mini vape mod for beginners and intermediate vapers venturing into the sub Ohm districts.

0.4Ohm Coil

The 0.4 Ohm coil may be the best stock 0.4 Ohm I’ve encountered.

It’s flavourlicious and chucks clouds from 50W right up to over 100W, no lie: it vapes better than a few popular 0.2 Ohm coils I have and this coil is the reason I’ll be paying closer attention to SenseTech from now on.

I used a 90VG, no nicotine juice throughout and the coils seem to be having no problem at all with my rather viscous DIY liquid.

I’ve been doing more time on the 0.4 Ohm and I can honestly say, wow! Such a smooth, clean, consistent vape with flavour profiles deepening as the heat slowly but beautifully increases up into the maximum recommended range of 120W.

Killer flavour and clouds, bro, clouds for dayyyys!!!!

You won’t believe how well this coil vapes even at 50W but I’m sitting pretty with it right now at 90W and the flavour is absolutely off the charts.

What I Liked

I love the fact that I didn’t like it at first and it carved it’s way into my esteem.

I love everything about this tank, from the hinged cap and rugged feel to the incredible flavour and smooth rich cloud formation. I haven’t even tried the 0.2 Ohm coil yet, good lord.

What I Dislike

What do you mean?

Final Review Verdict

I thought I didn’t like the Sense Blazer Mini tank at first, the cotton and coil took about a tank full to really break in, not sure why.

I’ve explored the full recommended range of both coils and tested the tank through falls, flavours and upside down transport, no leaks, no gurgle, just an all round great vape that will give you more flavour and cloud for your wattage than you’re used to.

This is an incredible mini sub Ohm tank.

Would I buy this if I lost/broke the device? Oh hell yes!

Pros

  • Indestructible design
  • Hinged top cap
  • Easy top fill
  • Easy coil change
  • Magnificent airflow
  • Brilliant flavour
  • Outstanding vapor production
  • No mess

Cons

  • Took a little breaking in

From the successful Sense stable is another atomizer bearing the fabled Herakles name. However, instead of a sub ohm clearomizer tank the Sense Herakles RTA2 is a full rebuildable tank atomizer.

The Herakles RTA 2 comes complete with a 25mm diameter, two post deck, juice flow control, top filling and plenty of airflow options to match as well.sense herakles rta 2 review

There’s a large 6ml capacity, which means less refilling during use, and top filling means it’s quick and easy to refill when you run out of juice.

Sense are one of my favourite manufacturers within the industry, as each one of their products I’ve tried hasn’t let me down. They have offered some of the best performing tanks on the market.

With the original Sense Herakles being one of my all time favourite tanks, I was very excited to get my hands on the RTA version!

Let’s see whether my excitement was justified…

Kit Contents

It’s packaged in much of a similar fashion to the original Sense Herakles. Inside the branded presentation box is-

  • Sense Herakles RTA2
  • Spare glass tank section
  • Spare parts tube with spare copper connector pin and threaded 510 drip tip adaptorsense herakles rta2 boxed

Key Features

  • 25mm width
  • Large two post build deck
  • Rotatable positive post
  • 6ml capacity
  • Top filling
  • Adjustable wicking holes
  • PEEK Insulators
  • Quad adjustable airflow
  • Enlarged interior airflow
  • 10mm threaded wide bore drip tip
  • 510 drip tip adaptor
  • Copper 510 connector pinsense herakles rta2 parts

Build Quality and Design

Sense tanks have always been very well made and the Sense Herakles RTA2 is robustly constructed.

Threading on the tank is very smooth, and removing the top cap to refill is very easy, with large filling ports at your disposal.sense herakles rta2 top fill

There’s a 10mm wide bore drip tip installed as standard, however, if this isn’t to your tastes then Sense have thoughtfully included a 510 drip tip adaptor so that you can use other drip tips.

Along with this, a replacement glass tank section if you manage to break the original.sense herakles rta2 review

If you need to strip down and clean the Sense Herakles, all parts come away smoothly thanks to the super smooth threading.sense herakles rta 2 parts

The Herakles RTA2 is top filling, and this is also backed up with juice flow control. By rotating this you can open up and close down the huge juice flow holes, which also comes in handy when it comes to wicking different ratios of juice.

By rotating this you can open up and close down the huge juice flow holes, which also comes in handy when it comes to wicking different ratios of juice.

The Herakles logo on the chimney looks pretty awesome as well!

Sense Herakles RTA2 Build Deck

The Sense Herakles RTA2 is the latest in a long line of two post rebuildable tanks, and with the diameter of the tank being 25mm, you have a whole lot of room to build on.sense herakles rta2 - 2 post deck

There are two post holes drilled into either side of the posts, with plenty of space to fit your coil legs into, and the hex screws trap down your coil legs perfectly.

There is a large airflow slot at either side of the deck, and positioning your coil over this will bring maximum performance.

There are two massive cutaways at either end of the deck, and you simply drop your wick down into these, making sure there are no gaps otherwise you will get leaks. sense herakles rta2 deck

It is dual coil only, however it is really quick and simple to build on!

Sense Herakles RTA2 Airflow

At a glance, the airflow holes on the Sense Herakles might look small compared to a lot of other tanks out there, but don’t let that fool you as the Sense Herakles is capable of some serious cloud output if you want it too.

There’s a very airy, wide open draw with all airflow slots open, but you can close these down to further intensify the flavour if you so wish.

How Does The Sense Herakles RTA 2 Perform?

I’ll cut right to the chase and say this is one outstanding tank when it comes to performance.

The flavour is quite simply fantastic and this beats many other similar two post tanks.

This provides flavour that can match with many RDA’s, it really is something stellar.sense herakles rta2 vape tank

Complex juices work so well with this tank, as individual flavour notes can be picked out easily, and it delivers a smooth and rich experience.

This is a level above most other RTA’s in its class, and flavour chasers will be all over this.

Cloud production is pretty phenomenal. If you like to chase clouds, you will love the Sense Herakles RTA2. It’s got bags of airflow, and a really loose draw when wide open, and it really does love to chuck the clouds.

Loading this tank up with high VG juice makes for one hell of a cloudy experience!sense herakles rta2 on mod

Wicking is another massive plus point of the Sense Herakles RTA2. As long as the tank is wicked correctly and the juice flow is open, this wicks absolutely anything, and allows you to crank up the power without fear of dry hits creeping in!

What I Liked

The performance of this tank really took me aback. Dripper level flavour, dripper level clouds, all wrapped up in an RTA package.

The build deck is huge and easy to build on. It may be aimed at dual coil builds, but beginners can pick this up very quickly and get to grips with it.

Top filling is easy to use, and on the whole, this is a really well constructed tank. It doesn’t feel flimsy at all, and threading is buttery smooth.

There are loads of airflow options. The airflow control ring is a dream to use and very smooth, and you can finely adjust your airflow.

What I Didn’t Like

Not much to be honest!

There were a couple of very minor niggles, such as a small bit of leaking after rewicking and refilling occasionally, the tank gets a little on the warm side when putting more than 60w through it, and the 25mm width isn’t going to be to everyone’s tastes.

These really are minor issues, though.

Final Sense Herakles RTA 2 Review Verdict

My first experience with a Sense atomizer was with the original Herakles sub ohm tank, which to this day is still one of my favourite tanks and one I still rate as one of the best sub ohm tanks available.

Subsequent Sense tanks haven’t let me down either, and the Herakles RTA2 may very well be my new favourite one from the bunch.

The flavour is just truly sensational, competing with a lot of rebuildable dripping atomizers, and it also competes with RDA’s on the vapour front as well, with truly huge clouds!

There are very little downsides to this truly outstanding two post RTA, and this absolutely has to be one of the best options out there for a two post RTA. I can’t recommend this highly enough, it’s a superb atomizer that delivers each and every time!

Pros

  • Really outstanding flavour
  • Phenomenal vapour
  • Very easy dual coil deck to build on
  • Very smooth flavour delivery
  • Simple top filling system
  • Competitive price
  • Well constructed
  • Easy to use juice flow control
  • Very smooth airflow control ring

Cons

  • If it isn’t wicked correctly, it is prone to dumping your juice out of the airflow holes
  • 25mm size is too big for a lot of popular mods
  • Lot of heat transference at high wattage
  • No single coil option

The Cyclone is the latest Sub Ohm tank from Sense Technology Company Ltd. Their previous offerings include the Herakles which we found to be a great tank and the Hydra which is the smaller version of it.

sense cyclone reviewAccording to the back of the packaging the force of a tremendous cyclone could have been the reason the “Dinosaurs became extinct!” As theories go it isn’t the most bonkers one I’ve ever heard and let’s be honest it’s just a tag line used for marketing this product.

What Can We Expect From The Cyclone by Sense?

The Sense Cyclone is a 22mm diameter sub ohm tank that is recommended for use between 50W-150W. It features top filling and comes complete with 2 coils to get you started.

I purchased the Cyclone for the purposes of review. Lets get stuck in and see how this tank performs.

Specifications

  • Stainless steel and glass construction.
  • 22mm diameter.
  • 5ml tank capacity.
  • Top filling.
  • Spit back protection guard.
  • Adjustable airflow.
  • Wattage Range: 50-150W.
  • Coils available: 0.6ohm Kanthal (50-150W), 0.2ohm Stainless Steel (50-100W) and 0.2ohm Ni200 Coil (available but not included).

The Cyclone does not currently feature an RBA deck but one is rumoured to be coming soon.

Kit Contents

  • 1x Sense Cyclone.
  • 1x Replacement glass tube.
  • 1x 0.6ohm Kanthal coil (pre-fitted).
  • 1x 0.2ohm Stainless Steel coil.
  • Instructions on box interior.

The contents are well presented and the box itself is very similar to the Herakles. I do have one gripe and that’s the fact that the warning label on the side of the box is very hard to read.Buy Sense Cyclone

Black text on a dark brown background never works well and I think Sense should have made this more obvious. The warning states that this tank should never be used with hybrid connectors so please don’t do it because it’s dangerous.

Sense Cyclone Styling and Overall Build Quality

In comparison to the Herakles the Cyclone is something of a beast. While still being 22mm in diameter this is not a small tank and it really does make the Herakles look like its smaller brother.

The build quality on the whole is pretty good but some of the threading is a little sharp in places so you should take care when unscrewing that you don’t cut yourself. The glass is durable and feels reasonably thick and it’s nice that Sense decided to include a spare glass tube as part of the overall package.510 drip tip cyclone tank

One issue that did irritate me was the fact that when I received the tank the pre-fitted coil had become detached from the 510 base and was stuck in the main body of the tank where the juice flow and airflow control are situate.

Since that part of the tank cannot be fully broken down it took a bit of effort with a pair of pliers to remove the coil.

I would suggest to you that if you buy this tank make sure you have the coil tightly screwed down in the base so you don’t run into the same problem.Base of the Cyclone Sub Ohm Tank

My next gripe is the fact that the main body of the Cyclone cannot be taken apart and cleaned. The glass itself is removable as is the top and bottom of the tank but the centre section is machined as one piece.

You know I’m getting really tired of companies that are doing this, Aspire did it with the Triton and now Sense are at it with the Cyclone.

Sure it makes things more straightforward to a newcomer because it has less parts but we all know e-juice can create a mess and when you can’t actually give the tank a thorough clean it seems like a con. Thankfully the tank was free of machine oil but you did have some oil in that centre section you wouldn’t be able to do anything about it.

Moving on, the drip tip fits secure and is wobble free. It is made from stainless steel but has an inner Delrin section to cut down on the amount of heat that reaches your lips when vaping at high wattage.

Sadly the next con is the fact that you can’t use any of your other drip tips because the mounting hole is too wide likely on account of the spit back protection blades needing a large diameter.

At the top where the drip tip fits you an airflow adjuster and you will definitely need to have this open when vaping at the extreme wattage this tank requires.

I’m sure you’re now thinking that 50W isn’t high but bear in mind that is the absolute minimum for the Cyclone coils and you will need to apply way more power to get a satisfactory vape.Sense Cyclone top

As mentioned already the tank features spit back protection in the form of six triangular shaped blades arranged in a circular pattern that are fixed at the top of the main air tube. I think this is an innovative idea since at high wattage the e-juice will spit a lot.

The top section of the tank unscrews to allow for top filling but is really quite stiff and it makes things far more of a pain than they need to be.

This problem is compounded by the fact that there is no knurling to make it easy to grip and half the time you just end up adjusting the top airflow instead. If you grip the top airflow adjustment and the section just above the glass it makes it a little easier.

Maybe it’s just me but if you design a tank to be top filling then at least make it convenient to get into so that is yet another particular gripe I have, they’re adding up aren’t they?

So let’s look at something positive shall we?

The middle of the tank features the main adjustable airflow ring and there is also a juice droplet and a vaping icon clearly marked very much like the Aspire Triton. You set the ring to the droplet indicator when you wish to fill and turn it to the vape icon when you want to use the tank. That at least is a very handy feature especially for a newcomer.

This tank has a 5ml capacity which I find to be quite decent the only problem with it is that due to the high levels of wattage you will need the juice will still drain very fast.

Filling the Sense Cyclone

The top fill system isn’t the most straightforward one I have come across so it’s important that I devote a small section of this review to it.

When you want to fill the tank you need to follow these steps:

  • Firstly you have to turn the tank upside down.
  • You then turn the centre adjustment ring to the juice droplet icon (fill mode).
  • You then turn the tank the correct way up and remove the lid.
  • Fill the tank.
  • Screw on the top lid securely.
  • Finally turn the centre adjustment ring to the vaping icon.
  • You are now ready to vape.

It is a little long winded but it is really important you follow these steps because if you don’t the Cyclone will leak like a sieve and 5ml of e-juice all over your lap is not a nice thing. I did still get some leaking when I filled it due to the large airflow slots on the bottom of the tank.

I think the problem is due to the way the tank fits together because adjusting one section seems to have the knock on issue of affecting something else which I found was typically the fill/vape adjustment. Not making sure the top cap is completely secured is another issue and I think if it was easier to screw/unscrew then it would help with this problem.

How Does The Sense Cyclone Perform?

For the record I typically don’t run any of my Sub Ohm tanks higher than 65-75W and I didn’t particularly relish the idea of vaping at 150W. I know from my experience with other tanks and also my RDA’s (Drippers) that when I have vaped at 100W I get a serious nicotine rush that I personally find too much for me.Cyclone 15w Coil head

Once you combine the high wattage, increased heat and the massive airflow, nicotine really does start to hit you hard and feels far stronger than your typical strength. So on this occasion I dropped from my typical 6mg to 3mg strength.

I filled the tank with Element Watermelon.

0.6ohm Kanthal Coil

The first thing that strikes you when you take your first vape is the immense airflow because it really does “whoosh” truly like you would imagine a cyclone or tornado.

I started at 50W and flavour was very average but the sheer airflow and draw felt really nice. There was quite a lot of vapour produced just at 50W so I increased to 70W which improved the flavour a bit and the vapour production increased as you would expect.

Next I increased the wattage on my vape mod to 100W. At this point flavour was far better, well above average, much warmer (not unbearably so) with immense clouds being produced. At 125W there was a further improvement in flavour with cloud production once more increasing.

So finally can this coil truly handle 150W?

Yes without a doubt this tank can achieve its claim and you can vape at 150W. If you have to top airflow slot open it is actually much cooler than you expect. If you take very long draws then obviously it does start to get hot but it is still tolerable.Sense Cyclone sub ohm tank

I did find the nicotine really hitting me at this point but this atomizer has so much airflow it seems like you can keep inhaling for ages. If you are the kind of user that wants to vape at this level often then do make sure you keep yourself hydrated.

Flavour at 150W was very good but it really didn’t start to come close to the flavour I get with the Herakles until I hit 100W.

It is important to note that I had absolutely no spit back with the 0.6ohm coil so the bladed spit back guard is definitely doing the job. I have read reviews where people have mentioned they had spit back issues with this coil but I did not find that the case for me.

O.2ohm Stainless Steel Coil

I’m not going to go into massive detail regarding this coil since the review is already quite long. Suffice to say vaping with this coil is a very similar experience to the 0.6ohm Kanthal one. I did find that up to 80W the cloud production weaker than the Kanthal coil but quite comparable when you reach 90W.

In my opinion at 100W the stainless steel coil offers better flavour than the Kanthal one at the same wattage.

If this coil is anything like the Uwell Crown stainless steel coils then it should last considerably longer than the Kanthal one.

Powerful but with some flaws

Like the very force of nature that is its namesake the Cyclone is indeed very powerful. It is unfortunately not without issues, it leaks when it comes to filling and I felt the whole design was a little bit too over engineered making it more awkward than it needs to be.

Sense Cyclone vs SMOK TFV4

At present it’s a toss-up whether you go with SMOK’s offering or this tank from Sense. Both are truly monstrous cloud chasing bad boys and both require large amounts of wattage. In addition they drain juice quickly but in my opinion the SMOK TFV4 gets through juice much faster. If you are one of those people that wants loads of clouds then neither tank will disappoint.

The advantage of SMOK’s tank is that it comes with a RBA deck so you can build your own coils and the rumoured Sense Cylone one will be a separate purchase.

As far as my personal opinion goes I think they both offer an extreme vape but if I had to choose one I think it would be the Cylone. I prefer the fact it is 22mm and I actually found the vape far more enjoyable than the TFV4 but by the same token SMOK’s tank is probably a better overall package for the money.

Is it worth it?

If extreme vaping is your thing then sure you’re going to love this tank. If you already have a TFV4 then it might not be worth it since two powerful tanks will cost you a fortune continually filling them with premium e-juice. Be prepared for the fact your batteries are going to drain way faster at the required wattage.

I think the Cyclone is worth the money, it has some faults mainly due to some of the design decisions but it is well made and capably achieves its aim in letting you vape at 150W.

For me it isn’t a tank I would use all day long because the nicotine rush would knock me on my back but it is very enjoyable in small does and does give you quite a fix. I advise you to consider dropping the nicotine strength of your e-juice if you plan to use this a lot.

Do I really need a tank like this?

Newer tanks like this are quite extreme and they aren’t for everyone. Any device that keeps you from smoking is the right one for you. The Cyclone is pretty much an ultimate “Cloud Chucker” tank clearly designed to compete with the TFV4 from SMOK.

If high wattage and storm front levels of clouds aren’t your thing then make sure to skip this.

Final Review Verdict

A good tank that has some flaws that make it not entirely hassle free nevertheless it does perform admirably. The main disadvantage is really the power required to get the best from this tank and at present Sense have potentially excluded a lot of vaper’s who really see no need for 100W plus devices.

Pros

  • Top filling.
  • Can handle 150W without issues.
  • Vape is cooler at extreme wattages due to good ventilation.
  • Nice flavour at 90-100W.
  • Insane airflow which means monstrous cloud production.
  • Spit back protection is a nice innovation.

Cons

  • A bit more complicated than it needs to be.
  • Top filling can be troublesome.
  • Has its leaking moments, mainly when filling.
  • Requires very high wattage for the best results.
  • Drains juice quickly.
  • You can’t use your own drip tips.
  • No RBA deck included. (Rumoured to be coming as a separate purchase)

Herakles according to Greek legend was the Son of Zeus who had to perform twelve labours to appease Hera and the other Gods, but in the case of this product it’s a new Sub Ohm tank for cloud chasers.

Manufactured by Sense Technology Company Ltd. Sense were formed in 2014 and are based in Shenzhen China. Their primary focus is the R&D, sales and services of electronic cigarettes.Sense Herakles review

Before we do though there is a very important note to make regarding Sub Ohm vaping. While they offer a new way to vape they are not for everyone. Please take a look at our beginners guide to sub ohm vaping before you decide to buy!

This tank will not work with EGO/Pen style e cigs and some of the earlier mods such as the MVP2 and Eleaf iStick 20W. The latter two cannot fire sub 1 Ohm coils. Just be sure your device is compatible.

In The Box

Packaged in a functional black coloured cardboard box:

  • 1x Herakles Sub Ohm Tank
  • 1x 0.6 ohm resistance coil pre-fitted in the tank
  • Spare Pyrex glass tube
  • 1x 0.2 ohm resistance coil.

Sadly very basic packaging, it does the job certainly but the lack of a user manual is something companies should be mindful of considering that many new users and vape converts will be attracted to these products. Even a small note would be a step in the right direction.

The 0.2 ohm coil actually has 30-75w written in it, this is definitely a manufacturing error because having tested the coil 30 watts is not sufficient. Assume it was meant to say 50-75w.

A Smart Looking Tank Reminiscent of the Atlantis

Yes the Herakles looks remarkably like the Atlantis. In fact the resemblance goes one step further since the Herakles is quite capable of using the Atlantis coils which is certainly a nice bonus given that if Sense ever decide to stop making their coils you can always buy compatible ones from Aspire.

I find it a very smart looking tank and it looks good on all my devices. The machining and overall construction is high quality. Everything fits together well.

Base of the Herakles sub ohm tank

The pyrex glass is solid, the drip tip fits perfectly and is wobble free.

One additional point about the drip tip is that internally it is delrin and heat resistant surrounded by a stainless steel outer section, this means it will certainly keep the heat from your mouth when vaping at high wattage.

The tank did have the faint aroma of machine oil so I gave it a thorough wash before use.

Just some minor things:

The bottom of the tank that serves as the airflow control also has stacked fins that serve as the heat sinks. My issue with it is that seeing what airflow setting you actually have selected is somewhat problematic at the best of times. Its a bit like looking though a half closed blind or a car engine grille and serves as a mild annoyance to me.

In actual practice its easy to tell what airflow you have selected simply by using it and adjusting accordingly. The airflow ring clicks when rotated to each of its settings. While it is a little unfair to criticise this it does beg the question did nobody consider this when designing it?

Sadly for those who like to prime their coils by taking a hard draw with the airflow fully closed, the airflow settings do not support a completely closed option.

Regardless of these very small issues I cannot deny the fact that this tank looks great and is very well made.

The tank does not come with a user manual however it is very easy to use.

New to these kind of tanks? Then read this first:

Firstly with any of these sub ohm tanks make absolutely sure that you have a device that is capable of firing at the wattage needed. If you have device that can only put out the minimum needed then while the tank will work it simply will not give you the quality of vape that you will likely want.

So if a Sub Ohm Tank needs a minimum of 50 watts but its operating range is 50-75w then an iStick 50w will certainly fire it but you will likely drain the battery much faster with continued use and its only giving you the bear minimum level of performance.

Where did all my juice go?

Sub Ohm tanks by their very nature drain your juice very fast so keep that in mind if you are trying to stick to a budget.

Regarding Mechanical Mods:

If using a Sub Ohm tank with a mechanical mod be certain you are using good quality batteries and that your mod has adequate venting.

Absolutely do not use mechanical mod hybrid adapters with sub ohm tanks, to do has been proven to cause problems and could be very dangerous.

Above all be mindful and stay safe.

Priming Coils:

With sub ohm tank coils you first take the coil and drip juice down the centre of it.

Also apply some juice to the side wicks or wicking holes. It is important to make sure the wick becomes fully saturated. With darker juices this is easy to see and you will notice the wick changing colour. This will help reduce the chance of getting the dreaded burnt taste in your vape.

  • After priming the wick proceed to fill up the tank, then screw in the coil and its attached tank base.
  • Leave the tank for a minimum of 15 minutes to ensure coil saturation.
  • If the tank supports a closed down airflow option you can take a few primer draws to help.
  • Fire the tank at a lower wattage to start with and gradually increase to your desired setting.

The Herakles is so very simple to use:

Yes this tank is straightforward to use so even someone trying one for the first time should have no issues. Mainly due to the fact everything is so well machined and fits together properly.Various parts of the sense herakles sub ohm tank

Filling it is easy but when using some 30ml bottles of juice that had larger nozzles it was a much tighter fit to pour juice in between the main air tube and the glass. Its not an issue for me but it has far less room there than some other sub ohm tanks.

Airflow adjustment is easy albeit slightly troublesome to see what setting its on. The airflow control ring is solid, clicks nicely into place for each setting and never moves of its own accord.

How Does The Herakles Perform?

The Herakles is a great vape, very flavoursome with lots of vapour:

In terms of vaping the Herakles is certainly up there with the Gods of Sub Ohm Tanks. Some embellishment on my part there to fit the theme but it is one of the best so far. I found flavour to be lovely and gives a fantastic smooth vape. I found the sweet spot to be anywhere between 60-75w when using the 0.6ohm coil.

Herakles Tank on Eleaf iStick 30WThe vapour produced is excellent with some very dense clouds and its certainly something of a room fogger.

At all times the wicking has kept up and I never once experienced a dry hit with the Herakles. At 75 watts this becomes quite a very warm vape and to be honest it was a little too warm for me, 65-70 seems to be my preference after a couple of days of using this tank.

The draw is very open but can be closed down somewhat via the airflow control. Personally I love the open draw and its actually just right for me.

So is the Herakles worth it?

It’s certainly more expensive than quite a few other sub ohm tanks.

However, it is very well made so definitely worth it from the point of view that you’re paying for good quality.

The vape as stated is wonderful and I love the warm and smooth quality to it and the vapour production is excellent. It may be too warm for some but it suits me perfectly.

I am left feeling extremely impressed with this tank. Also given that it can use the Atlantis coils it does make the tank somewhat flexible.

It does drain the juice very fast but I wouldn’t say any more than any other sub ohm tank. It could get very expensive to run if constantly using premium quality juice but for those like myself who make their own it won’t be a problem.

As to coil life I have been heavily chain vaping on the Herakles for two days and the coil is still working fine. I estimate coils should last at least a week.

Final Thoughts

A truly excellent sub ohm tank that is well machined with no real drawbacks. This is a good quality product that will give you an extremely satisfying vape.

Lets break things down with the major points.

The Good

  • Well machined
  • Simple to use
  • Spare glass included
  • Great flavour, very smooth and warm
  • Lots of vapour
  • Nice open draw
  • Drip tip stays cool
  • Atlantis Coil compatibility
  • Absolutely no leaking so far

The Not So Good

  • Heat sink fins make the airflow setting difficult to see
  • Less space for filling, particularly when using larger bottles
  • Drains juice quickly
  • More expensive as an initial purchase than some other sub ohm tanks
  • No user manual. Not really a con but could be annoying to a first time user
  • Slight amount of machine oil and had to be washed first
