Designed and engineered in the USA by Project Sub Ohm, the Saucecode BXDC is a Sub Ohm tank featuring an advanced top fill system.

The first ever dual material pre built coil heads, an included RBA deck, large 4.5ml capacity, finely adjustable airflow and it can be used with other coil heads from other manufacturers, such as Aspire Atlantis and Sense Herakles coil heads.Project Sub Ohm Saucecode review

The dual material BXDC coil heads are a really interesting prospect, as they are the first of their kind to sport a dual material wick.

You have Fibre Freaks Density N2 cellulose wick found on the outside of the crossed dual coils to ensure the BXDC coils wick quickly and can wick any e juice ratio, and Japanese Organic Cotton is in contact with the coil to provide the best flavor possible.

Of course, there’s an RBA coil provided if you prefer to build your own, and if you can’t get your hands on replacement BXDC coils then you can use Aspire Atlantis, Aspire Triton, Sense Herakles and Eleaf Melo coil heads.

I’m always excited to get my hands on Project Sub Ohm kit as they do knock out some really special releases, lets see if the Saucecode BXDC Sub Ohm tank is one of those!

In The Box

The presentation box that the Saucecode comes in is very stylish, much in the same vein as previous Project Sub Ohm releases, it’s an all black box with the Project Sub Ohm logo, Saucecode and the #UltimateFlavorTank hashtag.Project Sub Ohm Saucecode review

BXDC heads are quite hard to get hold of in the UK at present, so if you prefer to use the pre-built coil heads you’ll also find that the Saucecode is compatible with the following coil heads-

  • BXDC Coil Heads
  • Aspire Atlantis V1 Coil Heads
  • Aspire Atlantis V2 Coil Heads
  • Aspire Triton Coil Heads
  • Aspire Triton V2 Clapton Coil Head
  • Eleaf Melo Coil Head

Build Quality & Design

It has a caged stainless steel design with a Pyrex glass outer that is reminiscent of the looks of the Aspire Triton. Unlike the Aspire Triton however, you can fully strip down the Saucecode to clean it, and if you break the glass this can be removed and replaced with the spare included in the box, which saves you having to go out and purchase another tank!Project Sub Ohm Saucecode review

The included shorty drip tip is manufactured from 404 grade stainless steel, I found this a little short however and my lips did come in contact with the top of the tank which gets quite hot during use, however it is 510 threaded so you can swap it out for a longer drip tip should you wish.

The base of the Saucecode sports a non adjustable 510 copper contact pin, so you don’t want to be using this with a hybrid mechanical mod! It’s also a 22mm width tank which makes for a good fit with most mods.

There’s a no spill coil swap system in place that means as long as you invert the tank when swapping your coils around, you won’t lose a tankful of juice. The threading is really smooth so it’s quick and easy to swap your coils around.

Overall, I think it’s a really smart looking tank, I really like the design and looks, and the fact you can swap the o-rings out for different colored ones to match your mod!

Airflow

There’s an airflow control ring present at the bottom of the Saucecode BXDC tank, and adjusting this allows you to adjust the airflow coming in through the four airflow slots. Wide open puts it in cloud chasing mode, half open is flavor chasing.

Wide open it isn’t the airiest tank around, but it can still throw out some decent clouds, certainly better than a lot of other tanks that are designed for use in the same wattage range!

How Does The PSO Saucecode Tank Perform?

You have a 4.5ml capacity which is more than a lot of competing sub ohm tanks offer. The Saucecode is top filling and there are two huge fill ports present at the top of the tank to fill juice through.

The DAAC juice flow control system is found here too- unscrew the top cap to close off the chimney and prevent spillage, screw it all the way back on until it won’t go any further to raise the chimney and expose the coil.

I’ve found it needs to be fully open when in use otherwise the odd dry hit creeps in- when fully open you can wick up to 80VG juice with the BXDC coil.

You have an RBA coil included with the Saucecode and this has a 0.5ohm build pre installed. All you need to do is wick it and its ready to use! As long as the wick is covering the juice flow holes, and you don’t use too much wick, this performs very good at 35w with really nice flavor and decent cloud production using a Muji wick.Project Sub Ohm Saucecode review

The BXDC Coil I believe offers the better performance however. The Fiber Freaks Density N2 cellulose wicking material helps to wick juice very quickly indeed, meaning you can chain vape away happily without worrying about dry hits.Project Sub Ohm Saucecode review

The Organic Cotton in contact with the coils themselves provides a really fantastic vape, which is one of the most flavorful vapes around! Complex juices work really well with these coils with individual flavor notes coming through as you vape, and these offer flavor almost on par with a dripper, which is amazing for a pre built coil head.

The coils are rated for use between 10 and 40w, however Project Sub Ohm recommend that 36w is optimum power for the BXDC coil- I’d agree with them as this is where I got the best results for flavor and vapor!

Final PSO Saucecode Tank Review Verdict

Project Sub Ohm have pulled another stunner out of the bag with the Saucecode BXDC sub ohm tank. Rather than being just another sub ohm tank with big clouds and average flavor, the Saucecode BXDC can chuck the clouds but it really excels at flavor! It’s not tagged as the #UltimateFlavorTank for nothing!

The flavor from the BXDC coils is really something else and one of the very best clearomizers for flavor out there. The Saucecode also offers the ability to rebuild your own coils with the included RBA coil, and it can be used with other manufacturers coils too, which is a bonus if you have no spare coils to hand!

It’s available at a really good price and for the flavor performance alone of the Saucecode BXDC, you can’t really go wrong. If you want a tank that performs like a sub ohm tank, yet excels at flavor as well as clouds, then this is the tank for you!

Pro’s

  • Absolutely amazing flavour production
  • Very good clouds
  • Top build quality
  • Looks fantastic
  • Cheap price
  • Interchangeable with a wealth of other branded coil heads
  • Finely adjustable airflow
  • Wicks up to 80VG

Con’s

  • Juice flow control isn’t as finely adjustable as it’s made out to be- needs to be fully closed for filling, fully open for vaping
  • Drip tip is a major gunk magnet!
  • Wicking needs to be really spot on with the RBA deck otherwise it floods or dry hits, not particularly forgiving
  • BXDC coils are in short supply in the UK

The original Silverplay RTA by Project Sub Ohm was an absolutely fantastic tank, I got my hands on a 1:1 clone and was hugely impressed in my earlier review, but availability in the UK of the genuine version of the V1 was next to zero unfortunately.

Thankfully, www.vapour.co.uk have got the genuine version of the PSO Silverplay V2, which promises to offer an even better experience over the outstanding V1.Project Sub Ohm Silverplay V2 review

The already outstanding airflow has been upgraded even more, single as well as dual coil builds can now be accommodated, the juice channels have been widened further, you can access the build deck without draining the tank, refill without needing to fiddle with the fill screw and no less than three different tank options are supplied so you can customise the look of the Silverplay V2.

On paper, all of these improvements look to make the Silverplay V2 the ‘killer’ rebuildable tank, so lets see how it performs…

Kit Contents

The packaging is very impressive, the Silverplay V2 comes in a very smart presentation box giving it a very premium feel. Inside the box is-

  • Project Sub Ohm Silverplay V2 RTA
  • Rifled and spiralled shorty drip tip
  • 304 Stainless Steel Tank section
  • Two glass tank sections
  • Squared top cap (installed)
  • Beveled top cap
  • Screws and O-ring pack
  • Instruction manual

Its really impressive that you get three different tank options right out of the box. Like the V1, the Silverplay V2 is also compatible with existing Kayfun, Orchid, Russian 91 and Silverplay V1 parts, so there’s endless customisation options with this tank.

PSO Silverplay V2 Set Up

The Silverplay V2 is a rebuildable tank, with no build pre installed, so you will need to install your own coil and wick build in order to use this tank. Please ensure you have an ohms reader to hand, along with a knowledge of Ohm’s Law as well as battery safety before you do so!

As per the V1, it’s very easy to disassemble the tank. Everything screws apart nicely and the threading is buttery smooth. As a bonus, this time around you can access the build deck without needing to drain your tank, so you can make adjustments on the fly to your build. You can also fill without needing to use the fill screw as well!PSO Silverplay V2 RTA Parts

Again the build deck is a generous size, the post holes aren’t the largest around but I had enough room to fit a dual coil build in using 0.4mm kanthal, that came out at just under 0.4ohm, and there are airflow holes at either side of the deck which you want to make sure your coils are positioned over.

You do have the option as well to use the Silverplay V2 in single coil mode as well.

Post screws were able to be adjusted without much fuss and trapped my coil legs down nicely. Noticeably, the juice channels are even wider than they were on the V1! I made sure my wick tails went down into the juice channels to take advantage of this.

As mentioned above, when it comes to filling you have the option of filling via the fill screw or simply by inverting the tank, unscrewing the top section and filling through the fill ports to the side of the chimney.

My fill screw (as per the V1 clone I reviewed!) was screwed in so tightly I couldn’t get it undone, so I have just stuck to filling via unscrewing the top section and this works really well. I had no issue filling with a glass dropper, needle nose bottle or a syringe.

All in all, it’s a very easy tank to set up and get going, and it’s also very forgiving too- I must say I have been a little sloppy with my wicking a couple of times but I haven’t encountered any issues!

How Does The PSO Silverplay V2 Perform?

So how do all of these upgrades and improvements translate? Very well indeed, in fact these upgrades have translated to producing what I consider to be the best rebuildable tank on the market today!silverplay v2 rta deck

First off- the flavour. It is absolutely outstanding on the Silverplay V2 and the more power I put through it, the better it gets. Also, the tank stays cool and it has never got uncomfortably warm or hot when in use, even whilst chain vaping, and this is down to the PEEK insulators. It’s able to wick high VG juice with ease, I’ve been vaping the Apollo FaQ range in it, which is 80VG, and it hasn’t struggled with the wicking at all.

Complex juices really shine in the Silverplay V2 with individual flavour notes coming through and becoming very pronounced. I’ve rediscovered a lot of my favourite juices using this tank! If you really want to chase flavour then close the airflow down to the two widest holes – you get fantastic flavour and cloud results with this.

Airflow is outstanding. If you are looking for a cloud chasing tank this is the one for you. There’s lots of different airflow options available, with the airflow at its most wide open setting the Silverplay V2 blows some absolutely huge clouds.

I can’t think of an RTA that can even compete – this is serious dripper level clouds!

The flavour is still excellent even with the airflow wide open. It’s able to handle high power with ease- but be warned, it does drain your juice very quickly. Even though the capacity is now 4.5ml you are likely to find that you refill this often- I have found myself getting through at least three tankfuls of juice a day with the Silverplay V2!

The performance of the Silverplay V2 has made this tank the one that I go to constantly now, it’s now far and away my go to tank!

Final Silverplay V2 Review Verdict

If you are looking for the tank that has it all, the Silverplay V2 is the one for you. Project Sub Ohm have tagged it as the #UltimateRTA and I really do agree with them, because in my opinion the Silverplay V2 is the very best rebuildable tank on the market today.

It’s unparalleled when it comes to flavour and vapour production, it’s dead easy to build on, very forgiving, infinitely customizeable, it looks gorgeous and it’s priced extremely well too. There isn’t another rebuildable out there I have tried that comes close to it!

The Good

  • Airflow is just unbeatable for an RTA
  • Flavour is outstanding
  • Top rebuildable tank on the market in my opinion
  • Able to get at the build deck without draining a tank of juice
  • Able to refill without needing to use the fill screw
  • Infinitely customizeable looks
  • Easy to build on
  • Huge juice channels- handles any juice ratio
  • Stunning looks
  • Great price
  • Extremely versatile tank
  • Handles single or dual coil builds

The Not So Good

  • I do get the occasional leak out of the airflow holes, but nothing too major
  • Fill screw is screwed into the tank very tightly!
  • It drains your juice very quickly!
  • Airflow is almost impossible to adjust when screwed into a mod

Designed by Project Sub-Ohm the Swirlfish V2 is a dual coil only RDA (Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer). It feature a unique airflow design to help create a vortex of air when you vape.

One of the main features of the SwirlFish V2 is the Swirl Top Easy Drip System, featuring a hinged locking top cap that is accessed using the finger notch or through a correctly fitted 510 drip tip, opening up for easier access for dripping.project sub ohm swirlfish v2 review

Box Contents

  • One Project Sub-Ohm SwirlFish V2 RDA.
  • Three Sided Multi Tool.
  • Two Additional Pairs of O-Rings.
  • Four Additional Hex Screws.

Swirlfish V2 Design & Build Quality

Improving on the original Swirlfish RDA, the SwirlFishV2 features a split positive post system paired with deck milled negative posts, with each post hole measuring 2mm in diameter. A new squared PEEK insulator greatly increases heat resistance and durability.

In addition the overall height of the dripper has been shortened to 25mm. The SwirlFish is manufactured from 304 Stainless Steel for durability, and features silver plated copper contacts for maximum conductivity.project sub ohm swirlfish v2 rda

In my opinion the design itself is quite attractive and looks streamlined. The main parts of this RDA seem to be machined very well and everything fits together properly. The swing top cap is a nice feature but it is something we have already seen before on other drippers and also on Smok’s TFV4 Sub Ohm tank.

This RDA uses a four post design and features a squared centre post to prevent spinning. The post holes are quite large so should easily accommodate most builds but if you want to fit more extreme builds the 2mm holes will limit you.

The screws as you will learn later are less than ideal. The O-rings to be brutally to the point are poor because they are very weak and don’t last five minutes which is something of an exaggeration to make a point but after a full day of use the O-rings were already degrading and top cap starting to come off too easily.

The juice well is reasonably large and is 6mm deep. Surrounding the deck is the deck shield which features large airflow blades. These blades are designed to create a vortex of air that swirls around the coils. This design also means that there is additional juice well space. The deck shield can be removed for ease of access when building.pso swirlfish v2 rda deck

The airflow has been redesigned compared to the V1, featuring a paired triple diagonal slot and air hole system, with each pair designed with corresponding sizes. Each diagonal slot measures 3mm long, with width increasing from 1mm to 2mm in a right to left fashion.

Each paired air hole also increases in size from just under 1mm to 1.5mm, creating a unique and turbulent airflow system specifically designed to increase swirl and airflow disruption. What this means in a nutshell is that the large holes let air in faster with the smallest holes ensuring the air comes through slower. This combination of different sizes is what helps to create the vortex when you vape.

This RDA does not include a drip tip but I did find that most of the ones I own fitted without any issues. The 510 pin is silver plated copper and is adjustable.

My Build With The Swirlfish V2

The Swirlfish is quite different to most typical RDA’s so you have to keep a few things in mind when building it. Firstly you have to unscrew the deck shield so you can get good access to the deck. Secondly you have to keep your coils centred even though the airflow comes in from the side. I know it might be tempting to position your coils to the side in line with the airflow but seriously don’t do it.

I built two identical coils using 26AWG (0.4mm) Kanthal. The final resistance of my build was 0.5ohm and I wicked with Japanese cotton using the Scottish Roll method (see video). Both coils were carefully centred which looks unusual when you refit the bladed deck shield because it looks like it blocks air to the coils but trust me this is the correct way to build it.

Problems I had with this RDA

I initially tried three different builds and every time the same grub screw kept cutting the wire. This particular grub screw also didn’t seem to screw down very well and upon tightening it the wire got cut again but this time the screw became lodged in the post.

I tried numerous times to remove it and I was getting extremely annoyed. In the end I decided to drill it out but unfortunately a piece of the grub screw was forever stuck at the bottom of the post. Thankfully the RDA comes with spare screws and luckily my drilling hadn’t destroyed the threading in the post.

The screw does require a little bit more force to screw down now but at least it seems the RDA is still usable. I would like to hope that this is just a one off incident but if this should happens to you then you won’t be happy.

I am left with the feeling that the screws are rather poor because this is the first time I have ever had any problems with grub screws.

How Does The Swirlfish V2 Vape?

This RDA offers a very good vape and I was impressed with the flavour. I tried it with Element Strawberry Whip and Element Watermelon Chill. In each case the flavour was exactly what I want in a vape and the Swirlfish V2 surprised me since Project Sub-Ohm RDA’s are typically focused on cloud chasing.

Vapour production is very good and it puts out some good clouds. Due to the way this RDA is designed the vapour comes in from the sides and is swirled around. I believe the very good flavour is due to these vortex conditions and it is pleasing seeing the vapour swirl around when you exhale.PSO silverplay v2 rda

The swing top lid is handy when having to refill but what lets it down is the weak O-rings on the top cap which means you can end up flipping the lid and pulling off the cap.

Is it worth it?

This atomizer is well priced for an authentic RDA. The only downsides to the package is the possibility that the screws and O-rings you receive with it may be poor. If you don’t mind spending a little extra to replace them then this RDA is good value considering it offers good flavour and cloud production.

Final PSO Swirlfish V2 Review Verdict

While I do think this RDA is very good in terms of flavour and vapour production it did disappoint me because of the issues I had with the screws.

In my opinion the O-rings should also be much stronger than they are. To be fair spares are included and large amounts of O-rings can be purchased very cheaply from vendors such as Fasttech. I guess I expected the manufacturer to include good quality ones since it is an inconvenience for people knowing they will have to replace them.

This is actually a great authentic RDA that is priced very reasonably. It shouldn’t disappoint providing you get better screws than I did and you are prepared to upgrade the O-rings. This RDA is not especially newcomer friendly since it does require a dual coil setup and requires some experience aligning your build correctly.

The Good

  • Deep juice well.
  • Good vapour production due to vortex design.
  • Great flavour.
  • Swing top lid is useful.

The Not So Good

  • Poor screws.
  • Rubbish O-rings.
  • Dual coil only.

Project Sub Ohm have released another redesigned mini rebuild-able dripping atomizer, their talented in house design team have redesigned the Infinite CLT V3 Mini RDA to add their own personal signature touches to it.Project Sub Ohm Infinite CLT V3 mini review

The Project Sub Ohm Edition Infinite CLT V3 Mini features a shortened chamber over the popular CLT V3 RDA for better flavor, triple stacked airflow for fine tuning of your vape, huge interchangeable wide bore drip tips and a clever honeycombed spit back sleeve to eliminate many a mini RDA users nightmare- juice spit back. It seems like they have really thought of it all here!

With the huge wave of mini RDA’s becoming immensely popular as of late, does the Project Sub Ohm Edition Infinite CLT V3 Mini stand out from the crowd?

CLT V3 Mini RDA Kit Contents

The Project Sub Ohm Edition Infinite CLT V3 Mini comes packaged in the standard Infinite CLT V3 Mini packaging, you wouldn’t realize it was the Project Sub Ohm edition until you open it up and see the trademark logo on the top cap as there is no Project Sub Ohm branding on the box. Inside you will find-

  • Project Sub Ohm Edition Infinite CLT V3 Mini RDA with 11mm Pyrex Wide Bore Drip Tip
  • PEEK Honeycomb spit back protector insert
  • 510 drip tip screw in adapter
  • Black delrin 11mm drip tip
  • Spares kit with replacement post screws, screwdriver and o-rings

Project Sub Ohm have tried to cover every base here, and done it well! There is plenty of kit included within, couldn’t ask for any more!

CLT V3 Mini RDA Set UpYou will find a very clean build deck with the Project Sub Ohm Edition Infinite CLT V3 Mini, not a single speck of machine oil to be found, completely clean and spotless! As with any new atomizer you should always check that your atomizer is clean before first use and no traces of nasty machine oil residue are present.

Onto the build deck then, and it is massive. There are three big posts present, and the deck size has been maximized to take advantage of every available millimeter of build space.

The 2mm negative posts are milled into the deck and you have an over sized 3mm center positive post, all three posts feature cut out slits for post holes which have been enlarged over the CLT V3 so you can accommodate even thicker wire.RDA Deck of Infinite CLT V3 Mini

The screws and threading are superb, no issues with threading screws, and coil legs get trapped down easily. The post slits most definitely have enough room to fit large builds in, you wouldn’t have any issue fitting clapton builds in for example.

The juice well itself isn’t particularly massive, and with the Project Sub Ohm Edition Infinite CLT V3 designed for sub ohm builds you will be dripping frequently and often.

Thankfully, this is made easier by the size of the giant wide bore drip tips, you can drip down onto your build straight through the drip tip without even removing the top cap. That is only possible if you haven’t inserted the PEEK honeycomb spit back protector!Infinite CLT V3 Mini RDA

For my own build I went with 8 wraps of 0.4mm kanthal with a 3mm coil diameter which still left me with a lot of room to play with in the deck. I raised the coils slightly so that they were roughly in line with the middle airflow slit, centered them, and used a generous amount of Muji wick to soak up as much juice as possible.

The three middle airflow slits are easily adjusted and can be really fine tuned to suit your vaping style, single coil configurations are possible here if that is what you prefer!

PSO Edition Infinite CLT V3 Mini RDA Key Features

How Does The Project Sub Ohm Edition Infinite CLT V3 Mini Perform?

The Project Sub Ohm Edition Infinite CLT V3 Mini was designed with chasing clouds in mind, and it does that job extremely well.

In fact, I would say it is one of the absolute best RDA’s around when it comes to cloud chasing! The triple stacked airflow system provides a very airy vape when fully open, with huge volumes of vapor produced even at 40w and using 50/50 juice, but there is not much of a loss in flavor either with the airflow wide open due to the way the air hits your coils through the airflow slits.Infinite V3+ CLT V3 mini base

The wide bore drip tips maximize the amount of vapor inhaled as they are virtually the same width as the top cap itself, plus this allows you to drip juice down into the deck without even needing to remove the top cap.

Should you find that you are getting a bit of juice spitting back onto your tongue, simply insert the spit back protector underneath the drip tip, and this pretty much negates spit back entirely, without much compromise to your vape.

You can take the RDA up to really high wattage without any fears, as it handles it very well and the RDA itself doesn’t get too hot when taking it over 100w, thanks to the PEEK insulator used.

Flavor has been improved over the CLT V3 by reducing the height of the RDA to a mere 22.5mm, the same height as the Freakshow Mini, which is widely regarded as one of the best flavor RDA’s around.

The Project Sub Ohm Edition Infinite CLT V3 Mini can even compete with the Freakshow Mini on flavor, and any of the best flavor RDA’s available, the flavor from this RDA really is incredible no matter what airflow setting you have it on.

I can’t stress enough just how well this RDA performs, it truly is among the very best around when it comes to performance.

Final Thoughts

Well to sum up this RDA in one word it would be- outstanding. The Project Sub Ohm Edition Infinite CLT V3 Mini has to be one of the very best RDA’s out there right now. You want flavour? The Project Sub Ohm Edition Infinite CLT V3 Mini RDA offers it in droves. You want clouds?

You will be blowing absolutely massive clouds thanks to the triple stacked adjustable airflow system and huge “ultrabore” drip tip combined with massive deck space allowing for any number of builds to be installed. It is just a really incredible RDA.

I really struggled to find any negatives with the Project Sub Ohm Infinite CLT V3 Mini RDA. It truly is absolutely stunning, and outperforms pretty much anything available these days. Go ahead and buy one if you are considering it, you won’t be disappointed at all. This is one of the best RDA’s I have ever experienced.

The Project Sub Ohm Mutation XS is the redesigned ‘mini’ version of the recently released Mutation X V4, boasting the new features found in the Unicig designed Mutation X V4 but compressed into a rebuildable dripping atomiser measuring only 17mm in height.

Mutation XS ReviewThe original Mutation series of RDA’s designed by Unicig/Indulgence has been arguably the most popular series of RDA’s ever released, offering exceptional performance for cloud chasers at a very low price, and recently with the introduction of under coil airflow on the Mutation X V4, great flavour to match as well.

What Can We Expect From The Mutation XS RDA BY Project SUB OHM

The Mutation XS has been designed by Project Sub Ohm in the USA, responsible for some excellent atomisers such as the Silverplay, and hopefully, their Midas touch translates into gold with the Mutation XS!

The Mutation X V4 has taken the market by storm, but does the smaller Project Sub Ohm designed XS version match up to its bigger brother?

Mutation XS RDA Kit Contents

The Mutation XS by Project Sub Ohm is packaged almost identically to the Mutation X V4, in a neat white box, and houses the following contents inside-

  • Project Sub Ohm designed Mutation XS
  • Pre Installed 11mm wide bore competition delrin drip tip
  • Exclusively Designed Signature Edition 11mm White Delrin Shorty Widebore Competition
  • Drip Tip
  • Beveled Heat Reducing Delrin 510 Adaptor Top Cap
  • Silicon Bottom Airflow Sealing Plugs
  • Manual
  • Additional O-Rings, Screws, and Screwdriver

Mutation XS RDA Set Up

First things first I would check your Mutation XS by Project Sub Ohm for machine oil residue. I found quite a fair bit of machine oil present on the deck and underneath the screw heads which required a good clean before I began to build on the deck.

Once clean, you have the same deck arrangement as the Mutation X V4 – that is is a split centre positive post arrangement with two negative posts milled into the deck for improved conductivity.

Juice well isn’t particularly large but the deck is nice and big to build on- just watch that you don’t short your coils on the internal AFC ring when going for some thick coils!Mutation XS Parts

Like the V4 you find generously sized post holes, the Mutation series is all about crazy builds and huge clouds! Unfortunately, the post screws themselves have poor threading, I had a lot of trouble trapping down my coil legs when using 0.5mm and above kanthal, but I eventually got there in the end!

You have three airflow holes on the deck- you want to make sure that your coil is over these for maximum flavour. The adjustable under coil airflow can be found to the side of this- however juice has a real tendency to leak out of these holes.Base of Mutaion XS

You can plug these slots up with the included silicon plugs but this will be at the detriment to flavour. The Mutation XS can be set up in single or dual coil easily as either side of the airflow can be completely blocked off leaving one side still open and adjustable.

I went for 8 wraps of 0.5mm kanthal with a 3mm coil internal diameter and this just about squeezed in under the top cap!

Mutation XS RDA By Project Sub OHM Performance

Most people are going to buy a Mutation series RDA for one reason- clouds. The Mutation series is really at the top of the game when it comes to cloud chasing and the Mutation XS is very much in the same vein.

With that in mind I used a 70VG juice, Punk Grenade by Riot Squad.

You can blow absolutely enormous clouds with the Mutation XS, real competition level stuff if that is your thing, even with the airflow partially closed down the Mutation XS still blows bigger clouds than a lot of rival RDA’s.

Even in single coil, with half the airflow closed, the levels of vapour can only be described as ridiculous!RDA Base of Mutaion XS

With the airflow wide open, the clouds are just insane, the Mutation XS leads the way when in this configuration, it is probably the airiest vape you will ever experience, almost like drawing on air.

Flavour, as per with the Mutation X V4, is vastly improved and the best in the series so far with the addition of the under coil airflow holes.

This now means that air is drawn in and hits the coils underneath vastly improving flavour and meaning that the Mutation series can for once now rival a lot of flavour RDA’s available.Mutation XS Project Sub Ohm RDA

I notice a slight improvement in flavour over the Mutation X V4 with the reduced size but in turn the vape is also warmer too. You can really get the best of both worlds with the Mutation XS!

Pros

  • Incredible cloud production
  • Flavour improved over the V4 with a smaller height
  • Supports single or dual coil builds
  • Massive amount of airflow options
  • Can still slot in plenty of different crazy builds even with the reduced height
  • Cheap genuine RDA

Cons

  • When the bottom airflow is open juice has an annoying tendency to leak out of the airflow holes
  • Iffy build quality with the supplied screws- I had trouble trapping coil legs down using
  • Kanthal over 0.5mm
  • Machine oil residue present under the screws and on the deck
  • As per the Mutation X V4, the juice well is pretty small
  • AFC ring can touch against your coils with larger builds when installing the top cap causing shorts

Final Thoughts

Like the V4, the Mutation XS is flawed. The same issues are here such as juice leaking out of the bottom airflow and slightly questionable build quality, especially with the post holes and screws, but the good does still outweigh the bad.

If you already own the original Mutation X V4 there isn’t really any benefit in purchasing a Mutation XS as it offers pretty much the same, but anyone looking for one of the best cloud chasing experiences out there should look no further than the Mutation XS.

At the price you can pick these up for it represents a real bargain for such an high performing and genuine RDA. It’s definitely one of the market leaders for chasing clouds, a hallmark of the Mutation series, that’s for sure!
