Kanger (or KangerTech) have been pretty quiet lately, but they are still knocking out the odd kit here and there – mainly disposables.

What To Expect From The KangerTech Intelbox…

So this is a pod kit with a removable pod and a battery section (mod).

It is quite an odd mixture as it has some features which would appeal to more advanced vapers whilst also being quite simple.

For instance this uses a single 18650 removable battery (which is not included). Usually you would find removable batteries on more advanced devices.

A USB Type C port is provided if you are desperate for a recharge – but it is safer to use an external battery charger.

Instead of a screen – which you would expect on a similar device – you get a bunch of LED indicators.

They apparently are “power indicators” – but whether that just means battery charge remaining or some kind of output adjustment I have no idea. Nothing is mentioned on the Kanger website – even the power output is not specified?

In fact the website leaves you asking more questions than it answers!

On the mod is an adjustable airflow slider which will apparently cater to MTL and DTL vapers. We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.

The pod section is refillable with up to 2ml of your own e-liquid via the bottom fill port.

When it comes to coils – sadly I am not sure whether the pods have fixed coils (the pods are disposed of when past their best) or whether you can just change the coils?

There appears to be 3 colour options – but they are not specified on the Kanger website. It looks like there is a Black one, Grey one and a Silver and Brown one.

What To Expect From The KangerTech Elibox Pro…

Sadly again the KangerTech website is not the most informative of places. Plus the info that is on the site doesn’t make a lot of sense.

If you see some of the included images in this preview you will see what I mean – i.e. “Disposable Smoke Bomb” or “oil filling and charging integrated smoke”. Hmm Vapers do not like the word “Smoke”!

Basically this kit is targeted to those who buy disposables – they like the ease of use and it is simply ready to go – no carrying batteries or e-liquid.

The Elibox however is refillable and rechargeable but still has a disposable element to it.

The disposable element is the coil – over time the coil loses performance and issues such as running the device without liquid also kills the coil.

In this case when the coil fails the rest of the device is scrap. This is a shame but still more re-useable than a standard disposable which is scrap when it runs out of liquid or battery charge.

The device will hold up to 8ml of your own e-liquid but I have no idea where the filling port is sorry!

Inside the pod is a 1.2ohm NiCr double wire coil and the device outputs a constant 3.5V to keep the performance stable despite battery charge dropping.

Talking of battery there is a 450mah battery which is recharged within an hour somehow but no mention of the type of charge port or charge rate!

Apparently there is an LED indicator which does display fault conditions and when charging. Again it is not mentioned if the indicator works whilst vaping?

I assume this device is auto draw activated as there is no sign of any buttons or controls?

There are 5 colour options to choose from but none of them have official names – so here are the names I have given them – Brenda, Archie, Water, Purpley and Swirly Pink.

After seeming to have a bit of time off Kanger are back with a range of pod kits including the Pro Vito, Elipen and Elibox Pro!

What To Expect From The KangerTech Elipen Kit…

This is similar to the Pro Vito kit in that it is a “Semi disposable”…

What on earth is a semi disposable?

Well it is a kind of hybrid – which can be refilled and recharged but the coil is fixed to the device. This means when the coil fails (either through prolonged use or even burning out) that the whole device needs to be binned.

This is quite sad to chuck away a device – but it is still longer lasting than a standard disposable which is binned when the e-liquid or battery run out.

Kanger promise that you should be able to get 10000+ puffs from this device – so this must have a pretty heavy duty coil!

I am not sure how this is filled as the Kanger website is a vague kind of place to be – but it will hold up to 4ml of your own e-liquid. I assume for TPD regulated areas a 2ml model may have to be introduced.

Inside the pod is a 1.2ohm Mesh Kanthal coil which is powered by the battery at a constant 3.7V. Therefore the output should not decrease as the battery discharges.

The battery is an internal one which is 500mAh capacity and there is a Micro USB port for charging and this can be fully charged in one hour apparently.

There is no mention of indicator lights or any operating buttons so I assume this is auto draw activated?

There are 9 colour options to choose from but none of them have official names so just have a look at them below!

Kanger have seemed to be less in the limelight lately but were releasing kits up until October 2020 – such as the VBar Kit, UBar Kit and the iBar Kit.

What To Expect From The KangerTech Pro Vito Pod Kit…

This funky little fella wouldn’t look out of place on a display stand with all the disposable vapes.

However this is refillable and rechargeable!

The Kanger website is pretty vague about this kit but I will tell you all I know…

Firstly inside the plastic shell body is a 400mAh battery which is recharged within an hour. There is no mention of what type of USB port and charge rate though.

As you can see from the exploded view above the pod is not removable – so when the coil has stopped performing well you will scrap the whole device. Whilst this is pretty wasteful it is a slight improvement on the non rechargeable disposables.

The filling plug is located on the side of the device with a silicon port cover and you can refill with up to 2ml of your own e-liquid.

Inside the device is a 1.5ohm NiCr double mesh coil which should be ideal for higher nicotine / nic salt e-liquid.

The power output is specified as 7W but I have not seen anything about indicator lights? Also this must be draw activated as I cannot see any buttons?

There are 6 colour options to choose from but none of them have official names – so I will make some up! L-R= Whale, Polar Bear, Dolphin Pink, Dolphin Blue, Browny one with leaves on and Cat…

I am really torn about this kit!

Firstly yes it is less wasteful as you can charge and fill this but when the coil has packed in it is scrap.

Also you really must keep an eye on your e-liquid level – if it gets empty and burns out the coil again the device is heading for the bin!

Plus are cartoons a good idea to have on vape products?

What To Expect From The KangerTech Olit Kit?

There seems to be a bit of a buzz about sterilising vape gear lately – possibly COVID related – but I think it started before that.

Anyway in order to keep your mod free from germs the Olit charging box disinfects the mod when it has been placed inside. Kanger say this can kill over 99% of bacteria in around 60 seconds.

The box also doubles as a charging bank and has a 1200mAh internal battery. To charge up the box use the USB Type C port.

A screen is located on the box but the size is not stated. The screen displays the charge of the box remaining and the timer for sterilisation.

The mod itself has an internal 200mAh battery which is pretty small but remember it can just be inserted into the box for charging on the go.

An LED indicator is located on the mod but I am not sure if this displays the battery capacity remaining?

The pod is held magnetically in the mod and an airflow sensor means you simply inhale to get the device to fire.

You can refill the pods with up to 1ml of your own e-liquid but the coil is fixed. This means when the coil has passed its best you replace the whole pod.

There is no mention of the kit contents or pods supplied other than the fact it has a 2ohm coil. I am not sure if there will be any other coil resistances available.

There are 4 colours to choose from: Blue, Silver, Red and White.

I was a bit worried about Kanger – one of the very early brands in vaping – as we have seen few releases in the last year or so – the most recent being the Auro Pod in January 2020 and the Gem Kit in June 2019…

What To Expect From The KangerTech Ibar Kit?

This is a simple pod kit with fixed coil refillable pods. Basically when the coil has passed its best you will need to replace the whole pod.

Thankfully it is refillable via a side fill port and will hold up to 2ml of your own e-liquid.

The only coil option is the Kanthal 1.2ohm wicked with organic cotton and you get one of these pods in the kit.

Moving on to the main device this has an internal 800mAh battery which is rechargeable at a max rate of 0.75A. The type of USB port is not stated.

There are 2 output options – either a full battery power (the output will decrease as the battery remaining decreases) or a constant voltage output (3V will always be output).

To change the power output click the fire button 3 times and the LED will change colour accordingly.

A battery level LED indicator is included plus a Vibrate notification vibrates to indicate if you have had more than 15 puffs in 15 minutes to prevent over doing the nicotine.

What Does The Kanger Auro Starter Kit Have To Offer?

Anyone else look at Kanger lately and feel a bit sad? Their products seem to have all been done before and at least a year ago…

For instance the pod and pen combo has been around for quite a while – I think of the Innokin GoMax, Freemax Gemm and Vaporesso Podstick.

Firstly looking at the battery or “Mod” part of the kit which provides the power.

There is an internal 2000mAh battery and this gives a full power output. This means the power is not regulated – so will be higher when fully charged and may decrease as the battery charge level drops.

The actual power output is not stated.

To charge this use the Micro USB port and it can be charged at up to 1A rate.

An LED indicator is included which surrounds the fire button and will display the battery capacity remaining – in a fashion. It actually stays green until the battery is less than 20% charged.

Moving on to the tank now – which is a disposable pod style. This means you can refill it with your own e-liquid but when the coil has expired the tank is disposed of and replaced.

Kanger say the price of the tank is equivalent to a single coil head.

The tank has a standard 510 connection to the battery and (I think?) an adjustable airflow ring on the base.

To refill the tank there is a top fill port covered with a silicon plug. The tank is an all in one construction so no parts to remove or strip down to make life easier.

Inside the tank is the heating element (or “Coil”) which is a 0.3ohm Mesh Kanthal coil rated at 25-40W.

There are 2 colours to choose from: White and Black.

Anyway what does this little gem (soz) have to offer that the other billion pod kits don’t?

For those of you who have been under a rock for the last year Pod Mods are handy little devices which have a low power output, smaller batteries and perfect for use with high nicotine or nicotine salt e-liquid.

As their power output is low they can afford to have a smaller battery capacity which also reduces their size.

Inside the body of the device is a 500mAh battery and there are indicator lights to inform you of the battery capacity remaining. You would not believe the amount of gear I have reviewed where a simple battery indicator has been overlooked!

The device will output 11.5W or 3.7V – which sounds low but with a high resistance heating element and strong nicotine liquid this should be adequate to give a good throat and nic hit.

The e-liquid lives in the removable pod which you can refill with the e-liquid of your choice via the port on the base of the pod.

Inside the pod is a 1.2ohm ceramic coil. When the coil is past its best there is no messy coil changing to contend with you discard the pod and install a new one!

There are 6 colours to choose from: Black, Hot Pink, Blue, Rainbow, Green and Silver.

The Kanger Supo pod mod is a little different to the “norm” however, in that, instead of a simple, small, lightweight pod where you Mouth to Lung (MTL) vape, you have a choice of MTL or Direct to Lung (DTL) by a slide switch on the front of the pod itself thus altering the coil being used.

What Else Can We Expect From The Kanger Supo?

Straight out of the box, the Kangertech Supo looks stylish and elegant, certainly something you can use out and about as a standard pod system for an MTL or switching it up from time to time with a DTL vape.

I received the Kanger Supo pod system in Blue as you can see from the image above. The kit does come in three other colours.

The Supo pod System can use standard e-liquid or Nic Salts, whichever you prefer.

This device was sent to me for review. As always, I will give you my own, honest opinion of this product after a lengthy testing period.

Design and Build Quality

The Kanger Supo pod mod is packaged well. You get a small box with a compact design and a picture of your chosen colour on the front.

Once you open the box, you are met by the device itself with the pod pre-fitted into the device. On searching around, there isn’t a lot else to find except the magnetic charger and an instruction manual.

You get an all metal outer body with plastic through the middle. This pod System, as with most pod mods, sits in the hand very nicely. It’s ideal if you are out and about as it will fit with ease in a pocket, purse or handbag.

The design of the device is small and compact even with the pod fitted. It has a very smooth finish with all corners and edges rounded off. Even the bottom of the device, where you place the magnetic charger, is rounded slightly not allowing you to stand the device up but having to place it down on a surface flat.

To switch from MTL to DTL, you simply slide the switch across to the left covering up the single hole and revealing four holes for the DTL vape. The device automatically changes to the correct coil for your choice.

You have an LED indicator on the front and indicates when the device is firing and the battery status.

• When the battery is in the range of 3.9-4.2V, the LED is white.
• When the voltage is in the range of 3.6-3.9V the LED indicates a blue light.
• When the device is in the range of 3.2-3.6V, the LED indicates with a Red light thus warning you to charge the device.

On one side you have the switch to change from MTL to DTL or vice versa and on the reverse, you have the wording SUPO and KangerTech.

How Does the Kanger Supo Vape Pod Perform?

The Kanger Supo performs as well as most pod systems out there once the ceramic coil inside the pod has had around 3ml of e-liquid through it.

I found that for the first 2-3ml of e-liquid, the flavour from the pod wasn’t what I would expect. Once you are past that break in period, I found the flavour from either the DTL or MTL was very pleasant and you could just about detect flavour notes from the e-liquid.

The Supo is an auto fire device, meaning there are no buttons to press in order to vape, you simply take a draw from the device and it automatically releases the vapour from the pod into your mouth. With a simple slide of the switch, the Supo instantly changes the air intake and the coil needed for your selection.

I vaped a 50/50 12mg e-liquid and a 50/50 20mg Nic Salt e-liquid during the testing period.

How To Charge the Supo Pod Mod

Charging this pod couldn’t be simpler. Plug the USB cable into a suitable outlet and attach the magnetic end to the pod. Charging the Kanger Supo from flat takes around 90 minutes which is pretty decent for an 800mAh battery.

The Supo is fitted with overcharge protection, short circuit and low voltage protections.

How to Fill the Kanger Supo pod

The pod will only fit into the top of the Supo one way, so, if you are putting the pod into the device and you are met with resistance, you have it the wrong way.

Because the Kanger Supo is an “Open pod System”, this means you are able to use your own choice and flavour e-liquid.

Filling the pod is very easy indeed.

• Remove the pod from the device
• Lift up the rubber bung on the side of the pod
• Fill with your e-liquid.
• One word of warning though, you will have to tilt your pod and move it around to enable the e-liquid to go evenly around the coil.

Flavour and Vapour Production

The flavour you get from the Supo is pretty decent for a pod System, it’s not the best but it is certainly not the worst out there. Both MTL and DTL vaping from Supo is pretty evenly matched with the DTL setting just edging ever so slightly over the MTL.

As for vapour, the MTL setting on this device is pretty standard, you will be able to vape this and only produce the slightest of clouds making it ideal for that stealth vape. On the DTL setting, you get an average cloud coverage but it isn’t one that will block your view from the TV.

Just don’t expect a DTL vape like you get from a true sub ohm tank or RTA because it’s not that. What you are getting is a DTL vape from a pod System, which, overall is good.

Battery Life

The battery life from the Supo pod is fairly good on the MTL setting, I can quite easily get through a day depending on my usage. If you vape the pod on DTL, the battery life reduces quite significantly, you will be recharging after two to three hours depending on your usage.

Pros

• Break in period of ceramic coil

My Final Thoughts

I always say that pod systems are a great starting point for any new vaper and the Kanger Supo is no exception. You can use your own e-liquid of choice, which is always a plus point, because, lets face it, some closed systems and the pods provided taste like cardboard.

You get a very good MTL vape from this device and you can also change it up and use it for DTL if you choose to, giving it a slight edge on some of the other pod Systems out there.

When I think of Kangertech, I can’t help but think of the original Subox Mini kit. Or in fact anything from Kangertech around 2014/15. It takes me back to my early days of vaping. And Kangertech was the big name coming out of my local Vape Shop.

Design and Build Quality

Subtank Mini 2.0 Tank

I received the black version of the Subox Mini V2 kit, and the satin black paint finish is really nice, smooth and feels high quality. And this quality runs through the rest of the tank as well. All the threading is beautifully smooth and clean, the tolerances on the O-Rings are spot on and it’s all well put together.

The text on the side of the tank showing Min and Max filling is very cleanly etched onto the tank and the dual adjustable airflow slides nice and smoothly.

Kbox Mini 2.0 60w Mod

The slightly re-designed Kbox mini mod is a small and simple bit of kit, the paint finish perfectly matches the mod and the display is bright and clear, Even in direct sunlight.

The ‘K’ on the side of the mod is slightly glossier than the rest of the mod and in my opinion is a nice little touch and on the other side of the mod the name is engraved/formed into the plastic and is very nicely produced.

There is one slight gripe, with the tank on top of the mod – there is a gap between the both, big enough to fit your finger-nail between. That might not sound a lot, but it concerns me that KangerTech have allowed this kit to be released without the attention to detail to correct this.

It also means that if you were to put force on the tank in any direction, you would effectively be putting pressure on the 510 connector, possibly causing it to snap/weaken. Poor Quality Control.

In The Hand

Due to the high quality paint finish, the Kanger Subox Mini V2 feels lovely and comfortable in the hand. Even though its smooth, it’s not a slippery finish. And doesn’t show fingerprints very easily, although a drop of juice on the mod/tank is highly noticeable.

A very simple shape which isn’t anything new, but it’s a tried and tested shape which still works today.

Setting the Tank & Mod Up

How Does the Kanger Subox Mini V2 Perform?

With all the positives so far, it’s unfortunate that things have to go downhill from here on – As nice and simple the design is on the Subox tank, the performance is still stuck in 2015. I generally kept the wattage around the 20w mark, which is on the higher end of the recommended 15-25w. And for the time that the coil lasted (4 days) it performed OK.

Flavour & Clouds

At a stated 0.83Ω it delivered vapour, and flavour. But both were in no means ‘Satisfying’ and in all honesty, show no improvement over the original KangerTech kits we all know and love from 3-5 years ago.

If anything it seemed worse than what I remember! And unfortunately, by day 4, I was starting to notice a slightly burnt/flavourless sensation from the NCOCC coil. Which seem newly designed over their original, distinguishable square shaped coils. But I have been let down by this coil, and with no spare. I’m stuck with a tank I can’t currently use/test.

The Kbox Mini 2.0 60w Mod

Thank goodness the mod is here to save the day! Just like the tank, it’s a simple design. But simple works in this instance. During my 4 days using the stock tank, I didn’t have to charge the mod once. With an internal 2200mAh battery its more than capable of vaping at 20w for a few days before the need to charge.

However due to my issues with the tank, I swapped out the 22mm tank for an Oumier Wasp Nano RTA which sat beautifully on the mod, and vaping at 50w the battery lasted all day every day. Anything bigger than 22mm and you will have a bit of overhang. So it really is a little diddy mod.

It takes a while to charge (3.5hrs) But with an All-Day lasting mod, this hasn’t been an issue.

Final Review Verdict

If the Kanger Subox Mini V2 kit was to be released back in 2015, it would absolutely be a top seller. Unfortunately the game has changed, and even beginners/starter vapers would find the tank unbearable, especially if they experience the short life of the coil like I have.

The Kbox mod on the other hand is an excellent starter vape mod for someone. And even ideal for an experienced vaper wanting a small device which could be used and abused, with good battery life, and doesn’t need the big wattages on offer from a larger box mod.
