The iJoy Captain V2 vape kit review – so let’s see if this tough but smart looking set up floats my boat 😉

When it comes to iJoy, I really don’t have too much to say, apart from, yes, they’ve been around for a long while and made some decent kits, but there’s just nothing that really comes to mind that’s been ground-breaking or different.

iJoy Captain V2 review

I suppose some folks will say they live by their iJoy Avenger mod, or maybe the Shogun Univ which was certainly a popular variant.

For me, my only experience with an iJoy product was with the iJoy Lunar, a pod system with a glass body, nicely styled and performed pretty well.

The original iJoy Captain was released in a few different forms.

The Captain PD270 was a dual 20700 device, followed by the Captain PD1865 (Dual 18650) then the Captain X3 Kit appeared followed by the Captain Resin which came with the Captain Resin mesh tank.

Its been around a year however, since the last Captain variant was released, so its fair enough that they’ve gone back to the drawing board, and came back with the iJoy Captain 2 kit.

What Can We Expect From the iJoy Captain V2 Kit?

The iJoy Captain 2 kit is certainly a refreshed model, sure it has similarities to the original Captain models, with a large side positioned fire button and similar screen and adjustment button style.

However, with the Captain V2 mod, they’ve given the device a bullet-proof jacket in the form of thick rubber, Zinc Alloy frame and squidgy leather sections.

iJoy Captain V2 vape kit

They’ve also stuck with Dual 18650 rather than looking at the larger, and becoming more popular 21700 battery.

The tank that comes with the kit is the Captain 5 tank. Now I wont lie… I’m not quite sure what Captain 1 through 4 looked like, or even performed like, so this tank is all new to me.

ijoy Captain 5 tank

The tank makes use of a number of ranges of coils including the X3, DM and Mesh Coil Range.

So let’s crack on and see what this is all about…

Design and Build Quality

I received the Black variant of the iJoy Captain V2 kit. A proper stealthy looking device with an almost Matte Black finish on the tank, very SWAT style – I like it.

The iJoy Captain 5 Tank

Drip Tip & Top Cap:

The 810 drip tip on top is very generic but isn’t smooth or rounded at the top, meaning you can feel it on your lips.

Also if you plan on using your own 810 drip tips you’ll have to make sure they have their own O-Rings as the top cap does not have its own O-ring inside.

iJoy Captain V2 tank

There are also some nice simple, elegant branding on the top cap as well, not over the top, just simple and smart.

iJoy Captain 5 Tank Capacity:

The Captain V tank will come with a 2ml straight glass, and if your lucky or not in TPD areas, you can also enjoy a 5ml bubble glass.

Top Fill Port:

The top cap unscrews nicely anti-clockwise with nice smooth threading.

iJoy Captain V2 top cap

Once removed, there are 2 large kidney shaped filling ports.

iJoy Captain V2 the Base:

The base has the usual branding and some unusual batch numbers.

Tank – Overall:

A really smart looking 28mm Sub-Ohm Tank with very little branding and nicely machined.

sub ohm tank

The iJoy Captain V2 Mod:

510 Connector:

A centred 510 connection up top is ideal for any atomizer up to around 32mm which is always a bonus.

The ijoy Captain V Tank that comes with the kit suits the device perfectly in my opinion.

bulk tank

But of course you could use your own tanks.

However the smaller the tank or RBA, the sillier it will look.

Micro USB Port:

Under a sneaky rubber flap is a Micro USB port for firmware upgrades and also can charge at 1.5Amps, but of course I will always recommend you charge your 18650 batteries externally.

iJoy Captain V2 Front Of the Device

The face of the device is where you find a large, square display but unusually it doesn’t fill as much space is it could, a bit like mounting an iPad in the centre of a large wall.

It looks a little odd, and they could quite easily increase the screen size.

iJoy Captain V2 display

Nonetheless the display is simple, bright and clear and shows absolutely everything you might need to know. BUT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PHOTOGRAPH

Below the display is 2 small Left and Right buttons for your adjustment.

The fire button is positioned on the side of the device and is probably the largest fire button I’ve ever used, but its curved nicely and comfortable to fire.

iJoy Captain V2 Battery Door

The iJoy Captain V2 Mod makes use of one of my favourite styles of battery door, with a large unlocking latch to lever the battery like a traditional door.

iJoy Captain V2 battery door

The inside of the door is coated in a thick rubber like the rest of the device, so its clearly built to last.

iJoy Captain V2 Externals

The iJoy Captain V2 mod stands quite tall and is mostly covered in the ‘Geekvape Aegis Legend‘ style rubber, with a Zinc Alloy frame and 2 large leather feeling panels on either side.

Interestingly, as much as this device appears to be one of the IP67 rated, Shockproof, waterproof, dustproof mods, it doesn’t actually state any IP rating, only that it uses Military grade materials.

iJoy Captain V2 kit

I cant be 100% sure the iJoy Captain V2 mod is capable of being dropped in water and thrown around. It certainly looks like it could handle a beating, but iJoy just hasn’t stated the IP rating to prove it…Weird.

iJoy Captain V2 the Mod – Overall:

The Captain V2 mod is a big chunky device which I really like the look, and the feel of, with the added bonus of housing a large atomizer if you so wish.

Regardless of not having an official IP rating of any sort, I’m pretty sure the iJoy Captain V2 mod could take a beating no problem. It just feels solid and designed to last.

iJoy Captain 2 In The Hand

The iJoy Captain V2 kit, loaded up with a tank full of e-liquid and a pair of 18650 batteries is not light!

But in the hand it feels like you’re holding something pricey and substantial. Certainly not a pocket friendly portable system, but you certainly feel confident in its strength and build quality.

iJoy Captain V2 in hand

As a thumb, or finger firer it is very comfortable to hold and use thanks to the leather feeling panels on either end. So an ideal device if you tent to flip between thumb and finger firing.

How To Fill The Tank

  • Unscrew the Top-Cap anti-Clockwise
  • Fill with your desired e-liquid
  • Re-fit the Top Cap carefully ensuring you do not cross-thread the cap.

The Coils

The iJoy Captain 2 kit comes with the X3-Mesh and the X3-C1 coil.

I’m a little surprised by the X3-C1 coil. A simple Round-Wire coil within the X3-C1 which is rated at 0.4Ω and recommended 60-70w.

I thought round-wire was dead in stock coils?

vape coil

The X3-Mesh Coil is rated at 0.15Ω and recommended wattage of 40-90w which is extremely vague.

sub ohm coil

There are also a range of other coils that are compatible with the Captain V tank along with an RBA:

How Does the iJoy Captain 2 Kit perform?

Basic operation

The main screen displays loads of information.

vape glitch

Set power, battery level of both batteries, Resistance, Current, Power Mode, Voltage, Puff Count and Puff Time.

iJoy Captain V2 the Menu

There are a  small number of button sequences to remember to operate this device:

  • 5 clicks of the fire button will turn the device on and off.
  • 3 clicks of the fire button to open the Main menu
  • Left Button Decreases Power/Wattage
  • Right button Increases Power/Wattage
  • Press Left & Right Button Locks all buttons
  • Press & Hold Left &; Right buttons displays coil resistance in Ω

iJoy Captain V2 Main Settings

Three clicks of the fire button and you’re shown 4 Squares and a Rectangle. Yep…but each box will open up another level of options.

Note – The display has been almost impossible to photograph. So apologies for lack of images of the menu.

P Mode

Clicking on this option will a lot you to set your power Output between Normal, Hard, Soft and also created your own Power Curve which is actually very simple, especially if you like a boost at the start of your vape.

T Mode

Clicking on this option will allot you to choose your Temperature Control Material from Nickel, Titanium, Stainless Steel and also two M Options (M1/M2)

TCR Mode

Within the TCR mode you can customize your temperature control coils for the M1 and M2 options in T Mode.

Set

Clicking on this option will allow you to change your screen Cut-Off Time between 10 Seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds and 90 seconds.

Reset Puff

Exactly as it says.

Flavour & Clouds

For the duration of my testing, I was vaping on Code Red by Darkstar, it’s my all day vape and I know this e-liquid so well I have a very good gauge on how well it performs on any atomiser.

Historically however, it doesn’t seem to come through very well on sub-ohm tanks.

The  0.15Ω X3-Mesh Coil (40-90w)

A very vague recommended wattage range don’t you think?

But at an unusual 77.8 Watts I enjoyed this coil, especially with the airflow wide open.

If the airflow feels a little loose wide open, dropping it down half way and vaping at 60 watts is also comfortable.

The flavour from this coil is very good. Not the best flavour I’ve had from a sub-ohm mesh coil but its more than acceptable.

Did I mention this tank chucks clouds!

A glorious plume of vapour will escape as you exhale – joyous, smooth and thick.

The 0.4Ω X3-C1 Coil (60-90w)

As a traditional round-wire coil, I wasn’t expecting a great deal from the 0.4Ω X3-C1 coil., but It didn’t do a bad job.

At 60 watts I was more than happy, at that wattage with the airflow wide open you get a slightly warm vape and a decent cloud.

The X3-C1 coil didn’t perform flavour-wise as well as the mesh coil, but its decent enough considering round-wire coils are a little ‘old school’ for sub ohm Tanks nowadays.

Airflow

Regardless of how you like your restriction, the airflow is smooth on the iJoy Captain V tank, but a little noisy, not noisy like turbulent or like a whistle, just a bit on the loud side.

Battery Life

Unless you’re ploughing through loads of e-liquid at 90 watts, you should see the dual 18650 batteries lasting you a full day. But obviously that really depends on how much you vape.

If around 300 Puffs at 65-75 watts is your style (Like Me) You’ll be fine for a days battery life. Unless of course you’re using 5 year old batteries which have never had a proper charge cycle.

Durability

I’m almost annoyed that iJoy couldn’t give the iJoy Captain 2 Mod a stated IP rating.

It’s listed as ‘Dustproof & Shockproof’ yet they haven’t mentioned any rating. Meaning I wasn’t 100% comfortable giving the iJoy Captain 2 Mod a bit of a beating.

However, I may or may not have accidentally dropped this device a few times onto a tiled floor, and each time it has bounced back and worked no problem.

Without having the ideal IP ratings doesn’t really make a difference to the fact that the iJoy Captain 2 Mod feels extremely durable and hard wearing and even if it was to be dropped in a puddle, I’m pretty sure it will cope.

Pros

Mod

  • Well Built and feels solid
  • Fairly easy to navigate
  • Can take a large atomiser
  • Comfortable to Hold and Use

Tank

  • Smooth Airflow
  • Decent flavour
  • Nice sized fill ports
  • Simply Styled with decent capacity
  • Chucks Clouds

Cons

Mod

  • A little heavy and Bulky
  • Display could be larger
  • Doesn’t have IP ratings it could have

Tank

  • Airflow is a little loud
  • Drip Tip isnt the most comfortable

Final Review Verdict

The iJoy Captain 2 Kit unfortunately is ‘Just Another Kit‘ in essence.

Yes its well made, simply styled and fairly comfortable to use day to day.

But, it is on the large size so if portability and convenience is key for you, then I feel the iJoy Captain 2 Kit may be a little too much to manage day to day.

The Captain V Sub-Ohm Tank is definitely on the larger size, with a 28mm Diameter it’ certainly n the bigger side. But I really like the simple style to it with no bling but decent flavour and a steam train in the vapour production category.

So the 3 big questions I ask when testing a product are:

Would this device be long lasting and still work 3, 6 or even 12 months from now?

Absolutely.

Obviously the tank may not last as well.

But regardless of not having the usual expected IP67 rating, the mMod is solid and a joy to use.

Does this device deliver the flavour, vapour and general experience I require, in order to be enjoyed?

The X3 coils have performed very well during my testing and although the X3-Mesh is my preferred, both coils perform well with regards to flavour and vapour production, especially if you enjoy a nice loose Direct Lung Vape.

Is the iJoy Captain 2 Kit versatile enough to suit a new and experienced vapers?

The iJoy Captain 2 Kit certainly wouldn’t be recommended for a new vaper.

I can imagine a vaper who is sick of destroying mods might consider the iJoy Captain 2 mod as it really is built very well – yes its big and chunky but its built very well and very tough.

Did you buy the iJoy Captain 2 kit? Or have you tried it?

Build Quality & Design

iJoy Combo RDA

We’ll start from the top and make our way down the RDA…combo rda parts

The Drip Tip:

At the top we have the drip tip. It is just your usual 810 size and made from ultem. It’s nicely shaped and feels great in the mouth. It attaches to the barrel via an o-ringcombo rda drip tip

The Barrel:

Below that we have the barrel. A pretty simple in design. Nothing really exciting to comment about though, unfortunately.combo rda front

On the side it has dual cyclops airflow slots and a domed cap on the inside. Mine came with a couple of scratches inside, unfortunately.combo rda inside

The Build Deck & Base:

I will admit that deck does look good. Two angled posts in the centre, deep juice wells and a raised hollow squonk pin. All plated in a lovely gold finish!combo rda deck

Surrounding the build deck, you’ve got large walls that are wrapped in two chunky o-rings. Then opposite the posts, you have two angled channels that direct the airflow straight onto your coils.combo rda base

The iJoy Capo Squonk Mod:Capo squonk mod front

At the top we have the 510 connector which has a stainless steel surround and gold hollow positive pin. And also the battery cap. This is your usual screw on type and the threads are a little rough.

The cap could also do with a bit more knurling on it as well. Underneath the cap it is clearly labelled with the negative symbol, just so you know the correct way to orientate your choice of battery.capo battery 510

You can fit 20700s, 21700s and 18650 sized batteries into this device. The 18650 requires you to use the included silicone spacer. I’m not too fond of the space it leaves around the battery though.capo 18650

Below this we have the screen that is at a slight angle, and it doesn’t look out of place at all. Underneath the screen is a lightning bolt shaped + and – button to adjust your wattage.

The screen is nice and easy to read and has all the relevant information you need on there. There isn’t any Temperature Control or Power Curve options, this is just straight up variable wattage and nothing else.ijoy capo screen

If we go around to the front of the device, we have the fire button. It has a nice clicky feel to it, but every so often it gets a bit crunchy and spongy. As per usual, this device is 5 clicks on, 5 clicks off.capo squonk mod side

Below the fire button we have the squonk bottle area. You can choose to use one of the two included squonk bottles in here. I opted for the clear version that has a harder plastic shell.ijoy capo squonking tube

This is most probably my favourite part of the device as a whole. It just seems to squonk extremely well! clear squonk bottleThe darker bottle is your usual squidgy bottle that you find in most squonkers. Nothing special about that at all.

How Does the iJoy Combo RDA Perform?

On the RDA, I have been using a pair of the included coils, which come out to about 0.19Ω on the Coil Master 521 Mini Tab.supplied coil

Ease Of Build On The Combo RDA

Building on the Combo RDA is pretty straightforward… Apart from one thing. The post screws!combo rda coil installed

Where they’re at an angle, you instinctively tend to angle the screwdriver at a right angle to the deck, rather than at the same angle as the screw is. I just found it awkward to unscrew and screw in the coils on this deck.combo rda screwdriver

But once you’ve got those coils in, put some wick in there and tucked it down into the wells, it’s pretty plain sailing!combo rda wicked

Flavour & Clouds

Using some Riot Squad Punk Grenade vape juice the flavour on the Combo RDA is acceptable. I wouldn’t say it’s something to write home about, but I would say that it’s more of a cloud chasing RDA than a flavour atomiser.

How Does the iJoy Capo Sqonk Mod Perform?

Ugh. This is where we get into the negative side of this kit…

To get this to fire anywhere near the 100w mark, you’ll have to build around 0.15 or lower. If you build above that then you’re going to get an extreme lack of power.

Using the coils supplied, which come out to 0.19-ish, at 100w you are getting more of a 50-60w vaping experience. At an average 0.5 build, you’re going to feel that it’s firing around 30w or so.

So after a bit of research and some help from The Vaping Postman, he explained that you have to treat this like a mech and build at the previously mentioned 0.15 or under mark, due to the mod only outputting 4.2v. There isn’t a voltage booster in this device, so it’s not going to hit those high wattages like they would on any other device.

Pros

  • Looks Great
  • Feels good in the hand
  • No complicated menus
  • Nice squonk bottle

Cons

  • Under powered as hell!
  • Not overly innovative
  • No TC mode
  • Inconsistent button feel
  • Ultem drip tip
  • Angled post screws

Final Review Verdict

Well. Where do I start?

Lets start with the RDA. It’s nothing special. Just a bog standard dripper with an angled deck. The post screws are annoying to adjust and could potentially lead to stripping.

Now the iJoy Capo Squonk Mod… It had A LOT of potential to be something good.

Something that newbie squonkers would enjoy using. Putting builds they’re comfortable with on an RDA and vaping away like mad. But no, you are really limited to low ohm builds to get any sort of decent performance from this thing. I’m not sure if the board was an oversight, but it has been the main thing to let this kit down.

Overall, the kit is a nice looking kit! And that clear squonk bottle is one of the best things about the iJoy Capo Squonk Kit! Definitely a lost opportunity here from iJoy.

Well, I think it’s fair to say I’ve had a mixed bag with some of the iJoy/Limitless items recently.

So, when I heard this was on its way I must confess I was a bit apprehensive.ijoy tornado 150 review

The iJoy Tornado 150 is, as its name suggests, capable of handling 150W. It is a dual prebuilt/RTA 25 mm device.

The packaging will be immediately familiar to anyone who’s bought an iJoy produced tank or RDA recently, with a carboard sleeve over a plastic inner case.

The sleeve is a pleasant shade of blue with gold printing. On the front, we have a stylised tornado image above the product name and social media links.

One side bears the iJoy logo, the other a US inspired “health warning”. On the rear, we find the product description, contents list, authenticity scratch panel and contact details for iJoy.

Inside The Box

Removing the sleeve and lid we find the contents laid out in a black, flocked foam tray. Lifting out the tray we have a warranty card underneath.ijoy tornado 150 in box

Removing the contents, we have:

  • iJoy Tornado 150 Tank
  • Spare 0.25 Ohm SS316 coil head
  • RTA head
  • Spare tank glass
  • Delrin 510 drip tip
  • Spare O-rings and screws for the RTA.
  • Also included are two pre-made coils and cotton for the RTA along with a black screwdriver.ijoy tornado 150 kit parts

Design & Build Quality

The tank looks deceptively small, sitting only 44 mm high. The body is 25 mm in diameter and holds 4.2 ml of e-liquid.ijoy tornado 150 rta sub ohm tank

On top, we have the removable black Delrin cap with a 510 drip tip hole.

It is swept upwards into a slight cone shape which allows it to be used as a chuff cap, at a push.

The drip tip supplied fits snugly and has a good airflow with thin walls.ijoy tornado 150 exploded view

Removing the cap, we find the top fill slots, easily wide enough for most bottle tips or drippers. Unscrewing this allows us to remove the quartz glass tank body.ijoy tornado 150 top fil

The seals for the tank body are good, nice and snug without being awkward.ijoy tornado 150 tank parts

The coil heads/RTAs are combined chimney types, one of the reasons for the Tornado 150 being petite as less space is used.

The coils are well made with good sized liquid slots and gold flashed contact points at the base.

The Tornado 150 comes pre-fitted with a 0.3 Ohm SS316 coil head rated for 80-150W along with a spare 0.25 Ohm coil head rated for 40-80W.

At the bottom, we find a smooth but nicely resistant air flow control, with two good sized slots opposite each other. The airflow ring can be removed for cleaning.

On the base of the tank we have a nicely engraved logo and company name circling a well-constructed 510 connector. The adjustable centre pin is reasonably proud of the thread and is not plated.ijoy tornado 150 base

The RTA has a large chimney with approximately 18mm between the walls. The base has a Kennedy style airflow with two good sized inlets.ijoy tornado 150 150 build deck

The juice slots are a good size, allowing easy wicking. The posts sit approximately 12 mm apart at their centres, with 3mm long coil holes allowing thicker builds to be easily used.ijoy tornado 150 wick channels

How Does The iJoy Tornado 150 RTA Perform?

The Tornado 150 looked rather slick atop the iJoy Maxo (review of which is coming soon).

Filling it was simple, the slots easily big enough for even the most ham-fisted user.Filling ijoy tornado 150 rta

The coils primed quickly which bodes well for the vaping experience! All the threads are smooth and well machined.

0.3 Ohm Coils

The 0.3 Ohm coils performed well, with good vapour and flavour production.

The vape was not too hot, until you hit the 150W point at which things warm up a little but not uncomfortably.

I reached 170W but flavour production dropped off, still a good testament to the airflow design and the coil head construction.

0.25 Ohm

The 0.25 Ohm 40-80W coil performed well, very good flavour production indeed.

Sadly, 80W seems a bit ambitious and the vape started to become too hot. I’d say the range of the coil is closer to 30-70W as even at 30W the flavour was good.

RTA Deck

The RTA deck was easy to coil and wick and there were no juice flow or leak issues even at 1st attempt.ijoy tornado 150 rba

The pre-made coils fitted neatly with plenty of room to spare.ijoy tornado 150 rba deck

Vapour and flavour are good and power wise it easily exceeded 100W.

The down side is the size of the RTA itself, taking up so much room the liquid capacity drops to a smidge over 2 ml.

A side effect of this is the tank also feels hotter as the walls of the chimney are much closer to the glass.

Having used the tank for a few weeks it’s done really well, although there are a couple of minor niggles.

The top cap knurling is rather smooth and flush with the fill ring below, making opening the filling awkward.

As with some other large slotted coil heads some significant leakage occurred with both the 0.3 and 0.25 Ohm coils when the tank was nearly empty, resulting in a trail of juice over the mod.

Final Review Verdict

The iJoy Tornado 150 is a well-proportioned and well-constructed prebuilt/RTA tank.

It performs well in both modes and produces good amounts of vapour and flavour.

I liked the fact that this is a 25mm tank that doesn’t stand out too much and having the RTA option means this is an ideal tank for someone becoming more experienced at vaping.

The niggles really are minor and the leakage is something I’ve seen with many RTA and prebuilt tanks that have larger juice flows.

Would I replace it? Yes, it’s a great example of a dual mode tank and it’s already in my rotation of regular use!

Well done iJoy, can we have a bigger tank modification for it? â˜ș

Pros:

  • Well proportioned
  • Good construction
  • Spacious RTA deck
  • Great flavour and vapour production

Cons:

  • Awkward knurling on top cap
  • Leakage from coils when tank low

I underestimated, as hot on the heels of the XL comes the Combo RDTA.ijoy limitless combo rdta reviewed

What Can We Expect From The  Combo RDTA by Ijoy/Limitless?

iJoy/Limitless are advertising this as being a RDA, RDTA and sub-ohm (as in pre-made coil head) tank with a few part swaps. You can choose from a range of build decks and other parts to accommodate different usage, build styles and wire types.

The Combo RDTA comes in a tasteful black and gold card sleeve over an acrylic box in the same style as we saw with the RDTA+ and XL.

The Combo RDTA is available in black and stainless steel finishes

Inside The Box

Opening the box reveals

  • Combo RDTA with IMC-2 Deck installed
  • Alternative IMC-3 deck
  • Prebuilt IMC Coil head,
  • Cross-head and one flat blade screwdriver,
  • Alternative top, cap,
  • Spare glass
  • Bag of parts. The bag contains two fused Clapton coils, spare silicone seals, spare screws, a Delrin drip tip, silicone single coil plug and a spare gold plated centre pin.
  • Warranty card ijoy limitlesss combo rdta review

Design and Build Quality

The Combo RDTA sits a touch larger than the standard RDTA (but much smaller than the RDTA+) at 53mm tall, 25mm in diameter but strangely has a larger capacity than either of them at 6.5ml.

No blue boxes here, this is due to the shaping of the base and centre pole.

At the top, we have a chuff cap (Delrin) with knurled edges. This unscrews to reveal the inside and the bright stainless airflow control sleeve which sits inside the black finished main body that has wide air slots in either side.limitless ijoy combo rdta imc2

Removing the main body reveals the gold-plated build deck with sprung dual clamps. This is held in the deck ring, also gold plated, that has two silicone seals and the filling slot, easily big enough to accept your unicorn bottle even if it has a chunkier tip.ijoy limitless combo rdta fill port

We then see the glass tank portion and base, on the bottom of which we find a serial number, logos and tank name. There is an easily fully adjustable gold plated centre pin that can be removed, allowing the deck and glass to be separated.ijoy limitless combo rdta base pin

The supplied alternative deck is a velocity style.ijoy combo rdta imc-4 velocity deck

The other boxes contain;

  • The four alternative decks, all gold plated
  • 4-hole IMC-6 triple post
  • Flat dual clamp
  • Dual post with large vertical slots
  • Dual post with large horizontal slots & four screws.
  • The RDA base, also gold plated and comes with a centre pin.
  • This has a stated capacity of 2ml beneath the deck.
  • A white ceramic chuff cap/airflow top.ijoy combo rdta rda decks

How Does The Combo RDTA Perform?

RDTA

The Combo RDTA performs well as an RDTA, very like the RDTA/RDTA+ with all the same caveats about careful wicking to avoid leaks and not using too long a wick.ijoy limitless rdta combo tank

About halfway down the tank is fine.

Filling was easy; the fill port is easily big enough for most droppers and bottle tips.

The supplied fused Claptons are happiest around the 50-60W mark, with different coils I could get higher but oddly not quite as high as the power handled by the RDTA+.ijoy limitless rdta combo coilsijoy limitless rdta combo rda coil

As expected with the coil plug in place and a single coil the maximum power dropped to around 30-40W.ijoy limitless rda single coil

The airflow control worked smoothly but didn’t feel as airy as the RDTA+. More on this later.

The alternative black Delrin top cap takes a standard 510 drip tip, including the one supplied. The white ceramic chuff cap felt very cool in use, insulating well.

The pre-built coil works well and easily matches its quoted power levels, with good vapour and flavour.ijoy imc sub ohm pre built coil head

Changing the decks over was a relatively simple process: remove the centre pin and unscrew the deck from the deck ring and reverse.

However, the threads between the deck and deck ring feel rough and coarse, occasionally sticking.

The post screws themselves were good and the variety of clamp and hole styles accommodated everything from single wires to quad twists and exotic claptons with ease.

The RDA base is easily fitted with a deck, just screw into place and screw the centre pin into place.

Centre Pin Problem

But here we hit a pothole, the centre pin is supposed to be insulated with PEEK (solid) in the same way as the RDTA base. It’s not, instead there’s a soft silicone grommet.ijoy Combo RDTA Pin

Which of itself wouldn’t be the end of the world were it not for the fact that there’s no depth stop on the deck pieces.

This means it’s easy to screw the pin in too far, compressing the grommet and causing damage.

In fact, the pin will go in so far as to be totally flush with the thread. This is dangerous, especially on a hybrid mod where a hard short would result.

RDAijoy limitless rdta combo rda

The RDA base is easy to wick, but impossible to fill without removing one of the wicks.

In theory one could drip from the top and let it soak down but there is so little clearance between the level of the deck and the airflow (about 1mm) that trying to do so results in juice flooding out the sides.ijoy limitless rdta combo dripper

Even normal dripping results in bad leaks.

And that airflow clearance also affects the RDTA use, the tank is more prone to leaks than the RDTA+ which has deeper milling in the deck and a slightly higher airflow position.

Final Review Verdict

iJoy/Limitless are marketing this as a Combo device, RDTA and RDA in one.

It’s not as you have to buy a separate RDA part and that’s misleading.

If you do indulge in buying the RDA base it’s disappointing as it’s a nightmare to fill, dangerous with the potentially shorting centre pin and again the marketing is misleading as it claims this is a PEEK solid insulator.

I’m disappointed with the execution and quality control here. This could have been a great, different tank/RDA combo.

Instead it’s a misleading, potentially dangerous and damn infuriating to use one.

iJoy/Limitless, you need to sit down and have a think about where you’re going with this.

Would I replace it? Not very likely.

Pros:

  • Unusual
  • Variety of centre posts/clamps
  • Smart looking

Cons:

  • Must buy RDA deck separately
  • No clearance between deck and airflow on RDA deck
  • Awkward filling of RDA
  • No “stop” on centre pin screw of RDA
  • Centre pin insulator on RDA base is not PEEK as stated
  • Tends to be leaky

The guys at the iJoy/Limitless offices must be pretty darn busy. Hot on the heels of the LUX and LMC mods, the RDTA and RDTA+ comes this new tank.ijoy limitless xl tank review

What Can We Expect From The iJoy Limitless XL Tank

This is a 4ml prebuilt/rebuildable tank, with the added novelty of LED chips in the base of the pre-built coil. iJoy/Limitless claim the tank is good for up to 215W!

The XL tank comes in stainless steel or black finishes, the black featuring gold plating
on the coil housing.

Lets get straight to it..

What’s In The Box

Removing the cardboard sleeve and plastic lid we’re immediately presented with:

  • XL tank
  • 2 X rebuildable decks
  • Alternative top cap
  • Bag of spares that includes seals, cotton and glass.
  • A black cross head screwdriver is also included.
  • Under the black flocked foam tray, we find the warranty card and user manual.

Design and Build Quality

The XL is certainly an imposing tank, standing a smidge over 60mm high and 25mm in diameter smaller box mod users are going to have a bit of overhang.

Up top we have a smooth brushed stainless steel “chuff” style integrated cap which can be replaced for a flat one that has a standard 510 opening.

Both are well finished and unscrew smoothly.

Removing the cap, we see the upper of the chimney assembly and top fill slots. The chimney is pretty wide allowing us to see down to the top of the quad (!) prebuilt coil in place.

The outside of the chimney is engraved with the iJoy and Limitless logos and leads down to the coil cover which is styled with a cut-out XL design revealing the pre-fitted XL-C4 coil head.ijoy limitless xl tank on mod

Below this we have the Limitless logo bearing fan-styled airflow control which is smooth and has nice tension which should help prevent it being moved by accident.ijoy limitless xl airflow

Taking off the base reveals the wide 0.15 Ohm XL-C4 coil with its quad coils and large ovoid juice holes that provide adequate feed for the four dual coils.ijoy xl tank xlc4 coil

Remove the coil and flip it over we see four good sized airflow holes and another hole for the center pin.ijoy limitless xl coil airflow

You can also see the LED light chips under the shield.

The inside of the base is clean with a gold flashed centre pin. The pin isn’t adjustable but does stand well proud of the threads meaning this should be OK on a hybrid style device.ijoy xl tank base

The underneath of the base is plain finished.

Two Rebuildable Decks

The two rebuildable decks have removable chimney parts, revealing two good sized build decks with pre fitted coils (fused Clapton on the dual XL2, transformer Clapton on the XL1).ijoy limitless xl rba decks

The XL1 has open sided screw holes which easily take heavy gauge builds and a 6.5mm diameter air hole.ijoy limitless xl 1 rba

The XL2 has an open velocity style deck, again with plenty of wire clearance and two 3.5 x 2.5mm airflow holes.ijoy xl 2 deck

On both rebuildable decks the wick material is fed into the juice flow holes and as with all decks of this type you need to make sure the wicking is sufficient to prevent leaks.

Both have gold plated contact parts.

All of the insulation parts in the tank are made from PEEK.

How Does The iJoy Limitless XL Tank Perform?

The XL tank was very easy to fill and priming the XL-C4 coil head was very simple. The C4 has four dual-coil chambers and is rated from 50W to 215W.top fill ijoy limitless xl tank

With the airflow open and the chuff cap in place I started at 50W with Vaporfi Grand Reserve vape juice.

50W

At 50W the vape is fairly light and with the exceptionally open airflow there wasn’t much flavour.

80W

At 80W the flavour was noticeable as was the increasing amount of vapour but without much heat.

The juice flow was good and there wasn’t a noticeable re-wicking time.

120W+

As we carry on up the wattage we get a progressively denser vape, with flavour peaking at around 120W.

There was no evidence of burning, although the vape was warmer than I’d want over 180W but still usable even at 215W.

At maximum power (of the LUX vape mod I was using as well as the coil rating) the amount of vapour produced was immense.ijoy limitless xl on lux mod

Swapping for the 510 top and a standard drip tip produced more flavour at the expense of being able to hit the upper powers, topping out at around 160W.

Reducing the airflow brought great flavour but was now limiting the power to 100W.

I have to say that the vape was pretty good like this.

The LED chips are red and cast a glow from the airflow slots. They’re not particularly bright but can be noticed in low light/dark.ijoy limitless xl lights

Personally I’d have gone for a different colour (blue or white) but I’m guessing choice is limited partly by cost and partly by the limited number of LED chips that would tolerate the heat.

Rebuildable Decks

Moving on to the rebuildable decks, these were also very good.ijoy limitless xl rta coil head and RBA types

The single coil X1 deck has slightly less airflow and tops out with the pre-fitted coil at around 55-60W before things start getting a bit overheated.

At the lower end (around 45-50W) there was plenty of flavour and a reasonable amount of vapour. Wicking was a breeze (I used Cotton Bacon V2) and it was easy to get the juice channel properly filled to prevent leaks.

The chimney threads, as with the ones on the main part of the tank, are well machined and smooth.

The X2 deck again doesn’t hit the dizzy 215W heights, topping out this time at around 90W with the pre-fitted coils.

Airflow was, as you’d expect, freer with the dual airflow holes but still kept a good amount of flavour to go with the increased cloud.

Both of the RTAs did a better job of reproducing flavour than the prebuilt, which is obviously aimed at a bit of cloud chasing.

The tank did get a bit warm when we were over the 150W point but that’s to be expected.

There wasn’t a massive ramp time. The tank was relatively leak free, except if the juice level dropped below the wicking holes and the XL was hot, then I saw some minor leaks.

There were none with the rebuildable decks unless the wick wasn’t adequate to fill the juice channels properly.

The tank capacity is a bit of a shame, 4ml may be more than the TPD technically allows but it’s also not an awful lot of juice if you’re running the XL-C4 coil and high watts.

I emptied the tank of 0% nic e liquid in about 30 minutes.

Pros:

  • Well machined
  • Good seals
  • Huge airflow and vapour production possible
  • Excellent flavour at lower airflow’s / wattage’s
  • Easy to fill
  • Easily rebuilt, spacious RBA decks

Cons:

  • Light chips aren’t that bright
  • Prebuilt coils can leak when juice level is low
  • Design may put some off

Final Review Verdict

I have to confess, I initially thought the iJoy/Limitless XL was going to be a “one-trick pony”, gimmick tank.

But actually I like it. Yes, it’s chunky and the design might not suit some but I rather
like it.

It’s a shame the lights aren’t a bit brighter, but that is a trick and not really what the tank’s about (although it appeals to the performer in me).

What we’ve got here is a competent, well-engineered multi-purpose atomiser that’s easily taken from great flavour to cloud chucking and there’s not really anything to dislike about it.

The rebuildable decks are easy to re-wick and re-coil and perform well.

A little more tank capacity and we’d have a real star here.

Would I replace it? Yes.

It’s been a busy few months for Limitless Mod Co and iJoy: The iJoy Limitless RDTA (reviewed here), the 200W TC Mod, the 215W Lux, and now the RDTA Plus.

The packaging is a pleasant art-worked blue slip cover over a rigid plastic case. On the front we have the product name, the LMC logo and the iJoy/Limitless co-designed message.limitless ijoy plus rdta

To one side we find the iJoy and Limitless logos, the other a disclaimer/warning about coil ratings, proper building and centre pin adjustment.

On the back we have a product description, contents list and authenticity scratch panel.

Inside the Box

Removing the sleeve and plastic lid we are presented with the RDTA+ and its extras.

Along with the RDTA+ itself we get:

  • Alternative colour seals
  • Silicone single coil plug
  • Delrin drip tip adaptor
  • Black cross head screwdriver
  • Alternative smoke coloured tanks glass
  • Spare screws
  • 2 pre-made fused Clapton coilsijoy limitless rdta box

Design and Build Quality

The iJoy Limitless RDTA Plus itself is imposing, standing at 61.5mm tall with a diameter of 25mm and liquid capacity of 6.3ml. It’s available in green, blue, red, black and stainless steel finishes.

As with the RDTA this is a Genesis style tank but the styling has taken a step forward from the original.ijoy limitless rdta review

At the top the curved chuff cap has been replaced by a flat Delrin cap with knurled edges and two means of altering the airflow at the top: The wide bore drip tip can be removed to allow a wider flow directly from the raised lip on the cap or alternatively it can be replaced by a Delrin reducer allowing a normal 510 tip to be fitted.ijoy limitless rdta plus parts

The cap screws onto the airflow adjuster, which can be pulled free of the main tube. The main tube bears the Limitless logo and some tasteful scroll artwork, encircling it completely including the two massive cyclops style air slots.

The airflow can be adjusted both in terms of volume by rotating the cap and direction by rotating the main tube.ijoy limitless rdta plus reviewed

Pulling the main tube upwards reveals the deck. This has been reworked from the first version of this RDTA.

The velocity deck now has an 11mm post centre distance, with 2.5mm post holes. The screws have been altered so two titanium screws fix the upper post holes vertically while two stainless steel grub screws fix the lower post holes horizontally.ijoy limitless rdta plus airflow

We can see the wicking holes leading to the tank, as well as the glass retaining collar which has the juice filling slot. Juice filling is achieved by pulling the main tube slightly upwards to reveal the filler, indicated on the collar by a small drip symbol.

Removing the glass retaining collar and the glass itself we see the complete central pillar and deck assembly.

On the bottom we have the serial number, iJoy and Limitless co-design message and a fully adjustable gold plated centre pin. This stands sufficiently proud to allow safe use with mech and hybrid mods.ijoy limitless rdta plus base

How Does The iJoy Limitless RDTA Plus perform?

Using the supplied fused Clapton coils, it was an easy task to get the RDTA+ ready.

The deck is roomy, the posts sturdy and stable. The thick wire fitted easily through those bigger post holes and dropping the long wicks through the holes into the reservoir was easy.ijoy limitless rdta plus coil

That said, this is a Genesis style tank, so care needs to be taken to make sure the wick fills the deck holes sufficiently that leakage when tipped is not a problem.

Not so easy was filling the reservoir. The fill hole sits between the two legs of cotton, so a bit of wiggling is needed to fill it evenly.

Our reviewer said that the RDTA needed at least 50W to get going. The RDTA+ needs more, much more.

The supplied coils come out at 0.13Ohm and are thick, which means lag and heat soak.

The deck is encased with metal and sits on a solid metal pole, meaning the whole tank is a heat-sink.ijoy limitless rdta plus deck post

At 85W we need several draws to warm the tank up and even then we have a lag of approximately 1 second before we hit peak production.

Re-fitting with thinner gauge coils did improve this and with lower air flow and the 510 adaptor fitted flavour production was good along with a good amount of vapour.

But it still takes a while to warm the body of the tank up.

The single coil plug fits well and straight away we get less lag and correspondingly lower airflow as the plug covers this.

But so far what I’ve described isn’t what the RDTA Plus is about.

Put the stock coils back in, open up the airflow, refill the ejuice and
. Well, the pictures say it all.ijoy limitless rdta plus drip

I kept turning the power up and even 215W is an achievable vape (albeit making sure you give the wick time to catch up and you keep the tank filled).

Huge, dense clouds not over hot but still some flavour. The only thing that marrs the experience (apart from the obvious e-juice bill!) is you do get some spitting and popping at times but I suspect a lot of this is due to the nature of the fused Claptons.

An anti spit-back might not have been a bad idea however.

As is expected with a Genesis styled device this is not one for leaving on its side or putting in a pocket, especially when warm.

Given any excuse this will leak unless you’ve wicked it incredibly tightly which would then compromise its ability to vape.

The other flaw
the juice bill. Flat out the 6.3ml tank is emptied in a few draws (so make sure you reduce your nicotine strength!).

Final Review Verdict

This iJoy Limitless RDTA Plus, in its default configuration, not an everyday RDTA.

It was never intended to be, this is the crazy muscle car RDTA+ that Limitless wanted and they most definitely got.

It can be tamed into a more flavourful, usable device but that’s rather missing the point.

This was made to be a cloud beast, a show off, an indulgence and its makers have achieved just that.

It needs a high wattage mod to achieve its potential and really only makes sense with one.

Would I replace it? Yes, but not for a day to day use but purely to please the playful geek in me 🙂

Pros

  • Beautifully styled
  • Well made
  • Good fitting seals
  • Good spares package
  • Massive power capacity
  • Capable of huge clouds
  • Excellent 510 pin

Cons

  • Usual Genesis style leaks
  • Tank absorbs a lot of heat
  • Spitting

It seems there’s one thing us vapers can never get enough of: Power! Whether it’s the max Watts or the quest for more mAh we love it.

Limitless Mod Co and iJoy have sent me what they claim is both, in the shape of the Limitless Lux mod, a dual 26650, 215W powerhouse.limitless-lux-review

The parcel the courier handed over was pretty weighty and inside were three packs: The Lux mod, a pack of iJoy 26650 cells and an additional wood finish sleeve for the mod.

The cells are claimed to be 40A continuous (85A pulse) with a capacity of 4200mAh. They arrived well packaged and wrapped, with their own authenticity codes.

The wood effect sleeve came protected in a foam tray inside a matt black and silver box.

That matt black and silver theme carries over into the packaging for the Lux mod itself, very understated with the device name imprinted on the sides in spot gloss, and in silver on the lid.

The rear shows the absolutely minimum of information, some company identifiers and an authenticity code.

Inside the box

Opening the packaging we’re first presented with the Lux itself nestled in a flocked foam tray.

Lifting this out we find a cardboard support beneath which are instructions, warranty card, native American themed stickers and a micro USB cable.

Build Quality and Design

The Lux mod is an imposing beast. Styled as it is in its default guise of black and brushed metal it has a serious air.limitless lux vape mod

Its dimensions carry that forward, with the Lux standing a smidge under 102mm tall, 58mm across and 31mm deep.

The weight of the device conveys the same message. Loaded with the two 26650 cells it comes in at 354g

The top of the mod has a recessed, properly sprung 510 connector, a 0.66” OLED display and two up/down control buttons, with a nicely sprung fire button on the front edge.limitless lux top mod

The sides of the black sleeve have the LMC and iJoy logos, whilst either edge has diagonally deep cut ventilation slots. These slots are echoed in the diagonal indents on either side of the top of the mod.Limitless Lux Mod review

Gripping the sleeve and the top of the mod and pulling upwards the two parts separate with a magazine like snap, the two being held together with a combination of magnets and a sprung ball/detent retainer.limitless lux dual battery

The sleeve is black coated alloy with the brushed metal base friction fitted.

The wood finish sleeve is in reality also metal with a paint coating and lacks the logos on either side.Limitless Lux Wood sleeve

Beneath the sleeve we find the cell holders, both with a sprung connector at one end and clear polarity markings.

We also find two 18650 sleeve adaptors so the device can be used with smaller cells as an alternative. Between the two holders is a central column of plastic.limitless lux 18650 adapter

At the top rear we find a micro USB connector which is, unsurprisingly, only for firmware updates. To the IWEPAL chipset, a specific to iJoy item.

No firmware updates are currently available.

Functions

With cells fitted 5 clicks turns the device on/off, you’re presented with a flash screen showing the logos, then the default settings of 30W in VW mode.Ijoy Limitless LUX MOD OLED

The up/down buttons step the power in 0.1W increments, accelerating nicely if held down
until you reach 99W. The mod then switches to 1W per click or jumps of 10W if held down.

Which is probably just as well with the 215W top limit.

Three clicks take you into a menu with 6 symbols:

  • N – Ni200 TC mode
  • T – Titanium TC mode
  • S – Stainless Steel 316 TC mode
  • P – Variable Wattage mode
  • Screen rotation
  • Lastly a bar graph symbol.

Each setting is selected with a click of the fire button.

Each of the temperature control modes operates the same way. Pressing the fire button briefly followed by the down button sees the temperature symbol flash, allowing you to adjust the temperature limit.

Scrolling past the end of the range will switch you between F and C. Another press of the fire button followed by the up button allows you to adjust the upper power limit.

That last menu item, the bar graph, takes you to a sub menu where the power ramp can be chosen.

  • Norm – 100% of the selected power is applied all the time, Hard – the power is boosted initially by 30%.
  • Soft – Power is initially reduced by 20%.
  • User – the user can adjust six 0.5 second bars of a histogram, each step away from the middle is 10% up or down from the set power.

The Lux features reverse polarity, overheat, low battery, short circuit and low ohms protection.

There is currently no TCR mode.

The rest of the specs are;

  • Wattage: 5 – 215
  • Volts: 0.5 – 8.0
  • Output current: 1.0A – 36A
  • Temperature range: 300 – 600F / 150 – 315C
  • Resistance: 0.06-3.00
  • Power efficiency (stated): 95%

How Does The Limitless LUX Mod Perform?

The Lux is surprisingly comfortable to hold and use despite its size and weight.limitless-rdta-drip-tip

The fire button fits nicely under the thumb or forefinger and the top mounted screen is clear and pleases my inner geek in being able to see what’s happening in TC modes.

Until of course it gets covered in condensation which can happen with some vape tanks and RDAs.

The cells, unsurprisingly, took the best part of a day to charge fully in my Nitecore D2 charger but they barely became warm in the process. The cells fit snugly in the holders and don’t wriggle about.

Sadly, I was unable to test the 18650 holders as iJoy recommend a minimum of 35A continuous cells (40A continuous for 26650) but they did fit my 18650s snugly without being impossible to remove.

At lower powers that reserve of 2 x 4200mAh cells is a joy, I went almost two full days without needing to think of charging.

The power ramp controls work well, Soft being especially good in the Temperature control modes.

The TC modes were accurate although limited by the lack of a TCR mode. Perhaps a firmware update might sort that.

Hopefully a firmware update will also sort one other niggle – When replacing the cells in TC mode the temperature and power settings are reset to defaults, but VW mode is unaffected.

However, switch between TC and VW modes and you’ll find that the VW mode is reset to 30W, rather frustrating.

At higher powers the Limitless Lux shines.

I was able to easily hit 200+W with the Troll V2 and Limitless RDTA+ using pretty hefty wires and there was minimal lag.limitless lux oled display

But of course at such dizzying levels you’ll want much lower Nicotine e juice than normal and a few extra sets of 26650 cells because you’re chewing through the power even with these.

Limitless LUX mod and rda

That said it was rewarding and rather exciting to actually be able to use the mod properly at these levels for some time before the “low power” warning appears.

What wasn’t so pleasing was the poor fit of the sleeve which twists slightly around the main body causing a rattle and cheapening the feel of the mod.

It affected both the sleeves in the same way and I suspect this is partly due to the absence of an upper retainer and also partly due to the moulded plastic centre pillar.

This also concerns me in that were the mod to be dropped or twisted hard that plastic pillar could well snap, not something that sits well in a device that is both marketed and priced as a flagship, premium product.

The finish of the metal on the main body and the black sleeve have fared well, much better sadly than the thin wood effect paint on the other sleeve which lacks a decent hard-coat meaning it has picked up some easily visible scratches and chips.

Final Review Verdict

I liked the Limitless Lux, it’s a good, competent high power and Temp Control mod. It’s comfortable to use and having that extra capacity is great at lower wattages.

But
This is a mod marketed and priced as a premium, top quality device. And sadly, it’s not quite there yet and won’t be sliding into my best vape mod list.

The firmware shows a lack of testing and has a gaping omission in there being no TCR given this is aimed at the market sector most likely to use unusual wires.

Worst of all however is the build quality. The paint on that wood sleeve is too soft, especially at the price charged for it.

The sleeve twisting around the body is sloppy and the use of plastic for the central pillar of the device smacks of a lack of thought or penny pinching.

Yes, I liked it and were I to lost this one I might well replace it. Just not at the prices being charged for it. Brand, you see, is not everything.

Pros:

  • Good cells
  • Imposing good looks
  • Competent Temperature Control
  • Comfortable to hold
  • Low lag on heavy builds

Cons:

  • Inconsistent firmware
  • No TCR mode
  • Build quality concerns
  • Poor paint finish on wood effect sleeve

UPDATE:

I was unable to update the firmware as the Lux I was sent is faulty, the USB connection is not recognised on any computer, giving an error saying the device has a fault.

Condensation from the base of atomisers (including the XL) collects on the top of the device and gets under the screen. Despite contacting iJoy about this several times over the last month by email and twitter they have not responded.

I therefore cannot recommend this device in any way.

The iJoy Limitless 200W TC box mod is a collaboration between both iJoy and Limitless. ‘Really, I wouldn’t have guessed’….

The two companies have produced (at the time of writing) 5 products together including the iJoy Limitless RDTA, iJoy Limitless XL and the other box mod, iJoy Limitless LUX.ijoy limitless tc 200w review

Although, there is no mention of iJoy anywhere on the mod or indeed on the Limitless website. The iJoy website does, however.

In this review, we are taking a closer look at the 200W powerhouse of a mod.

Inside the box

The perspex casing, smashed to pieces on arrival, contains the following:

  • Limitless 200W TC mod
  • User Manual

Main Features / Specs

  • Custom Chipset
  • Interchangeable side plates
  • Variable wattage / Temp Control
  • 10-200W
  • Resistance: 0.8-5 Ohm
  • Temp Control Wire Compatibility: Nickel, Titanium, Stainless Wire
  • Powered by 2 X 18650 batteries
  • Various safety features

Build Quality and Design

The first thing that is evident with the Limitless 200W mod is that it’s built like a brick.

With the 2 X 18650 batteries installed it has a seriously weighty feel to it. I happen to like a mod that feels substantial, but the size of the box itself is a little big for my smaller than average hands.limitless 200w tc mod in hand

The design is what you would expect from a box mod, there is no messing about here from Limitless, they have kept the aesthetics classic and simple. The cut away corners offer a respite to the square form while offering a comfortable finger rest when holding the mod.lmc 200w tc vape mod

I would have liked to see the fire button on the top corner here, rather than placed just below it. Ergonomically, for me, it would have made for a more comfortable firing position.

Customisation

Limitless are all about allowing for customisations. This mod allows that by removing/replacing the side plates.

On the mod I received for review, mine had the standard red background with black LMC logo. limitless mod dual 18650 battery

There are far more interesting designs to go for such as Aztec, Bandanna, and the Skull Chief Plates. So, a good features for those that like the idea of changing the look of their device.

Top of Mod

The top of the mod features a quality 510 thread with spring loaded pin with lots of ‘give’.limitless mod 510 thread

Mod Edges

limitless vape mod 200wOne edge of the mod features large Limitless branding in white while the opposite side a mirrored OLED plate with solid metal power and function buttons, neither of which had any rattle whatsoever.

The image below was taken with the protection film on, so ignore the poor quality!limitless 200w mod oled

Front and Back

The sides of the mod feature the removable plates. These are held in place well by magnets with one of the side plates covering the battery compartment.limitless mod side plates

That is pretty much it. There is no place for a Micro USB port, which of course means no charging via the mod and more importantly no firmware upgradeability. A bit of a disappointment on that front.

Overall, the Limitless mod is quality. Design wise, it’s not my thing. Far to big and bulky. But that’s just a personal preference.

How Does The iJoy Limitless mod Perform?

Menu System

The iJoy Limitless 200W mod features a custom made chipset, it has all the usual features you would expect but the menus system was different to anything I have tried.ijoy limitless mod tfv8 smok

One thing I found from the outset is that it’s a bit of a strange one. Or more to the point, a pain in the arse. I found myself trying to change the wattage without success for around 5 minutes.

OK, I didn’t read any instructions at this point but even when I did I just found myself consistently entering different modes when all I wanted to do was increase/decrease my wattage.

Here are some of the issues I had:

With the tank on and OLED display showing my wattage settings I instinctively press the ‘+’ or ‘-‘ function button to change the wattage.

On the Limitless the ‘+’ button doesn’t immediately change the wattage, it scrolls through you ‘pre-set’ settings (M1, M2, M3).

The ‘-‘ function button doesn’t immediately change the wattage setting down. It scrolls through the three power settings. These settings are PO (Powerful?), SO (Soft) and ST (Standard).

To change the actual wattage I have to do the following.

Press the ‘+’ function button until I reach the M1/M2/M3 setting. When the ‘M’ setting is flashing you then press the ‘-‘ button to enter the wattage changing mode.

This needs to be done every time I want to alter my wattage.

The same needs to be done for temperature settings.

Getting into the menu system to change your coil settings and vape modes is also not the most user-friendly.

5 Clicks of the power button turns the mod off, then an extra press of the power button enters you into the menu.

I’m sure after prolonged use it will become second nature but the menu selecting process just didn’t work for me.

Power Mode

I found myself sitting in the PO (Powerful) mode when vaping in wattage mode and all was good, it provides a nice punchy delivery. I used the SMOK TFV8 at around 120W and all was good. I didn’t get it upto 200W, not a level I vape at personally.smok tfv8 limitless 200 mod

If you’re pumping the wattage right up just be sure your batteries can take the strain. Or if you want to reach these wattage’s go for a ‘three battery’ mod such as the Wismec Reauleaux.

Temp Control also performed as would be expected although my primary ‘go-to’ vape is in wattage mode. So the latter is what I reverted to for the majority of my time with this mod.

For vapers that want TCR as a feature, you are out of luck with the Limitless 200W mod.

What I Liked

The build quality is fantastic and the ease at which you can switch out the side plates makes for a nice customisable mod.

The threading is also quality and all the tanks I tried fitted flush to the mod.

The mod also performed well as you would expect, once you have your settings in place.

What I Didn’t Like

The menu system on the Limitless mod was a headache for me. Even when I got used to the way it worked, selecting the wattage and temperature required too many steps.

I personally am not a huge fan of the looks, but that is just me. I’m sure many vapers out there will think otherwise.

There is no way to upgrade the firmware on the mod which may be an issue for some, so keep that in mind.

Final Review Verdict

If you are looking for a heavy duty, quality device then you won’t go far wrong. It’s not a mod I would vape when out and about due to it’s size and weight but around the house or at my desk, no problems.

The main bugbear for me was the menu system which I found pretty frustrating, so if you have minimum patience then you may want to think twice about buying this mod.

There are easier mods to use out there and ultimately the iJoy Limitless 200W TC just wasn’t a mod I particularly enjoyed for my vaping preferences.

Pros

  • Build quality is excellent
  • Performs well
  • Customisable side plates to change the look of your mod
  • Solid buttons

Cons

  • Menu system drove me nuts at times
  • No firmware upgrade available
  • Too bulky (for me personally)
  • On the ugly side (Again a personal thing)

iJoy Tornado RDTA. It sounds like a tank that is capable of some serious performance, and it’s marketed as capable of performing at up to an astonishing 300w.ijoy tornado rdta review

That would make it the most powerful tank on the market to date, and a serious contender as the King of the Clouds!

What Can We Expect From The Tornado RDTA by iJoy?

The large amount of airflow also provides cooling to the tank as well, to help prevent it from overheating during usage.

Alongside it’s high wattage capabilities it features a sliding side filling system, the ability to swap build decks with two velocity styled decks capable of four and six coil builds respectively.

There is also a huge adjustable airflow, massive juice flow channels and a fixed 24k gold plated connector for direct contact and maximum conductivity.

Does the Tornado whip up a storm? Is it one of the best RDTA’s available? Or is it all just a load of bluster?

Let’s find out…

Kit Contents

  • iJoy Tornado T4 with two post T4 Deck
  • Hex key, spare post screws and o-rings
  • 510 drip tip adaptorijoy tornado rdta 300w box

Key Features

  • 24mm Diameter
  • 5ml Capacity
  • 17.8mm two post velocity styled build deck
  • 30-300w capable
  • T6 deck available separately, can be built with up to six coils
  • PEEK Insulator
  • Direct contact 24k 510 gold plated 510 connector pin
  • Airflow cools entire deck and sub-deck
  • Slide and lock gasket side filling
  • Delrin Wide Bore Drip Tip
  • Stainless Steel construction
  • Pyrex Glass tank section

Build Quality and Design

For some reason, whenever I look at the iJoy Tornado, I can’t help comparing it to a rocket.

Anyway, what we have here is a 24mm width tank that is constructed of Stainless Steel with a thick Pyrex glass tank section, and a large Delrin wide bore drip tip.ijoy tornado rdta parts

If you wish to use your own drip tip, you will need to make use of the included 510 drip tip adaptor.

There is a 24k gold plated fixed 510 connector that does stick out quite far and can give you some difficulty getting a flush fit with certain mods.

At the side of the tank is what is termed as a ‘slide and lock gasket side filling mechanism’ whereby you turn the top cap and lift it up to reveal the side filling port.ijoy tornado rdta juice fill side

I’d recommend giving the Tornado a good clean before using, as my unit had a pretty generous helping of machine oil around the posts, deck and o-rings. It was quite visible when removing the iJoy Tornado from the box for the first time.

Thankfully it does disassemble fully, and after a thorough cleaning, it was ready to go.

iJoy Tornado Build Deck

The iJoy Tornado actually has two deck options available. The retail package comes with the T4 build deck, which is a two post velocity styled deck with large post holes and a huge airflow hole at either side of the deck, and massive wicking cut outs.ijoy tornado t4 deck

There is a lot of room to build on, so slotting those large coils in to handle high wattage can be done with ease.

The T6 option, which I received with the iJoy Tornado RDTA for review, has the same deck layout but adds an additional two post holes onto the top of each post, and allows for six coils to be installed!ijoy tornado t4 t6 rba decks

This makes the iJoy Tornado theoretically capable of handling 300w, if you do intend to use the T6 deck and go for a sextuplet coil build, please ensure you do so safely!

iJoy Tornado Airflow

For a tank that takes such large wattage, you are going to need plenty of airflow. Thankfully, the iJoy Tornado doesn’t fall flat at all in this department.

There is a huge dual cyclops adjustable airflow arrangement measuring in at 15mm by 2mm, which gets fed up to your build through two 5mm diameter inner air holes.ijoy tornado rdta airflow

There is a crazy amount of airflow here, which offers you a phenomenally airy draw, and market leading vapour production as a result!

How Does The iJoy Tornado Perform?

As you would expect from this tank, the iJoy Tornado is all about extreme performance and massive clouds! For this review I was using Fuggin Vapor e-juice which is an 80VG mix.

It really doesn’t let you down on this front, I pushed the T4 deck with a 0.2ohm build up to 175w before it became too uncomfortable for me to vape on, and boy does this really fling out some serious clouds.ijoy tornado rdta chimney

This tank I believe has become the benchmark for other high wattage cloud chasing RTA’s to aspire to, it’s a serious performer on the vapour stakes.

Now, I did give the T6 deck a try and mounted 6 coils in there, that came out at a final resistance of 0.14ohm.ijoy tornado coils

I don’t have any mods capable of going over 220w unfortunately, so for the purposes of research, 219w with the SMOK Morph would have to do.

What I got was an insanely hot vape that was only bearable for a second or two at a time, but even those extremely short hits were fogging the lounge out in seconds!

It wasn’t particularly great for flavour, but it was incredible at clouds that is for sure

Back to the T4 deck, and when it comes to flavour the iJoy Tornado is surprisingly good.ijoy tornado t4 deck

It’s quite rich, and a lot more flavoursome than I expected it to be.

As long as you stay under 100w with the T4 deck you do get a really rewarding and tasty vape from this, I found when you start going north of 100w things do start to get a little too warm and muted.

You can see some of our favourite e-liquid brands here.

What I Liked

The iJoy Tornado is supreme when it comes to cloud production. There’s no other RTA I have experienced that can produce the level of vapour this provides, nor withstand high wattage as well as this one does.

The side filling system works great, its something I have experienced before on the OBS Ace and in practice it works very well here, making quick filling easy.

It’s a very well constructed tank, that feels really well made and disassembles easily to maintain.

The build deck offers a massive amount of space and it’s very easy to build on as well.

What I Didn’t Like

This really is only for extreme high wattage vaping, at 70w and over. Under 70w it is a pretty flat experience with not a lot of flavour, a long coil ramp up time and pretty wispy clouds.

The 510 pin is fixed and non adjustable, and it sticks out quite far from the 510 connector itself, meaning that you can have a bit of an unsightly gap when using this with some mods.

Final Review Verdict

The iJoy Tornado is a hell of a beast of a tank. This really delivers massive clouds in spades, with huge airflow and the capability of withstanding some incredibly high wattage.

There are few tanks on the market that can perform quite as well as this does, especially at the wattage I tested this out at, and I feel this will set a benchmark for other high wattage tanks to follow.

Be warned, this tank is only for those that know what they are doing, however in the right hands the iJoy Tornado is a hell of an extreme vaping experince!

Pros

  • Capable of handling the highest amount of wattage yet for a tank
  • Absolutely crazy clouds
  • Flavour is actually pretty decent as well
  • Well constructed tank
  • Wicks very well
  • Easy to build on
  • Side filling is easy to use
  • Loads of airflow

Cons

  • This is only for people who like vaping at really high power
  • Hot vape at over 100w
  • Tank gets very hot going over 100w
  • 510 pin is fixed and quite long
  • Machine oil present in the tank out of the box
  • T6 deck just offers an incredibly hot vape

It has a 4ml tank capacity, with a dripper style two post deck above the tank section, and also some of the largest airflow ever seen on a tank coupled with possibly the largest chuff cap ever seen on a tank too!ijoy limitless RDTA review

This looks to be one that cloud chasers will lap up in droves, so with that in mind let’s have a look at what the iJoy Limitless is capable of.

Kit Contents

  • iJoy Limitless RDTA
  • Spare o-rings
  • Drip tip adaptor
  • Spare screws
  • Pre made twisted coilsijoy limitless rdta box

Key Features

  • 24mm diameter
  • True RDTA design
  • 4ml capacity
  • Gold plated 510 connector
  • Hybrid safe
  • Large adjustable airflow
  • Wide bore Delrin chuff cap
  • Can be fully stripped down
  • RDA style two post build deck
  • Side filling port

Build Quality and Design

The iJoy Limitless is constructed of stainless steel with a glass tank section, and it has a hybrid safe, gold plated 510 connection for use with hybrid mech mods, minimizing voltage drop and maximizing the performance.

The top cap is constructed of Delrin and is almost the same width as the whole top cap itself! Airflow is also part of the top cap and is adjusted via turning the top cap to close down and open up two massive airflow slots.ijoy limitless rdta review

The iJoy Limitless can be fully stripped down to clean, and this also then gives unrestricted access to the build deck as well, making it easier to build on by giving you more space to work with.ijoy limitless rdta parts

At the side, there is a side filling port which is easily opened and closed to fill the 4ml tank. Overall, it feels like a pretty robustly constructed tank, and very well made.

iJoy Limitless Build Deck

The iJoy Limitless features a two post build deck, and like a few other RDTAs to recently hit the market, you can fully strip the tank down to reveal the build deck.ijoy limitless rdta part

It offers a huge amount of space to build, with large post holes aimed at accommodating thick wires.

Wicking is very simple. There are wicking holes cut out of each the corner of build deck, and you simply need to make sure your wick goes through these and down to the base of the tank.ijoy limitless rdta deck

There are pre-made twisted coils included in the spares kit that you can simply install, wick and get going.ijoy limitless rdta clapton coils

I didn’t find the performance of these to be too great so I went with my own dual Clapton coil build which I found worked far better.

How Does the iJoy Limitless Perform?

Where this tank really excels, more so than the vast majority of other tanks out there, is at sheer vapor production and ridiculously sized clouds.

Forget running this under 50w, you’ll need to be putting a minimum of 50w through it to really see just how awesome this tank is at throwing out giant, thick clouds of vapor.ijoy-limitless-rdta-on-mod

Cloud chasers, this is definitely the tank for you!

Surprisingly, for such an airy tank, this is capable of some excellent flavor from your e juices.

I’d happily say it’s on par with a lot of dedicated cloud chasing RDAs, very impressive.iJoy Limitless RDTA On Vpae Box

I’ve been really happy with the performance when running my favorite vape juice through the iJoy Limitless, picking up on flavor notes I didn’t realise were there before.

It does have a 4ml tank capacity but given the amount of wick and power needed, this tank guzzles juice in no time at all.

It’s pretty much a dripper with an enlarged juice reservoir!

iJoy Limitless Airflow

Airflow on the iJoy Limitless could well be the biggest to date found on a tank.

There are two humongous cyclops airflow slots on the top cap, that are adjusted via rotating the chuff cap.ijoy limitless rdta tank

There is an incredible amount of airflow at your disposal here and this really is suited to people who cloud chase.

You need to be putting at least 50w through this to get the most out of it due to the sheer size of the airflow.

Be warned, due to the ridiculous size of the chuff cap, which spans almost the entire size of the top cap, this is an incredibly airy draw which some users may not be used to.

Once you are used to it, you’ll be producing some epic clouds!

What I Liked

The airflow is absolutely crazy on this thing and it doesn’t take much effort to produce competition level clouds. The airflow is really something to behold and it’s a lot of fun letting off some serious steam!

The airflow is large, but the flavor definitely doesn’t feel compromised. The iJoy Limitless is capable of providing some excellent flavor from your juices and I was really impressed with this.

The ability to strip the tank down to build and re-wick the iJoy Limitless makes both of those things very easy indeed. It’s forgiving and easy to build on and even inexperienced users will pick it up quickly.

Side filling is a great addition to this tank. It’s easy to fill and quick too, simply twist the fill port open at the side, fill, and close it off when done.

What I Didn’t Like

The supplied chuff cap spans almost the entire width of the chuff cap which means the draw is so airy, it’s pretty much like breathing! This may be uncomfortable for some users.

Thankfully a drip tip adapter is included if you wish to use a smaller bore drip tip.

This is strictly a dual coil tank only. There is no option here to build with a single coil.

It’s also a tank really aimed for those that like to vape at 50w and over only. I found that under this, the whole experience feels a little flat and underwhelming.

Final iJoy Limitless RDTA Review Verdict

The iJoy Limitless is a tank that can rightly lay claim to dripper level performance, in a rebuildable tank package.

The flavor and vapor are both bang on par with what you would come to expect from a rebuildable dripping atomizer, and with a tank capacity to boot that saves you having to re-drip constantly.

The airflow from this tank is really something to behold. If cloud chasing is your thing, you definitely need this tank in your life, there aren’t many other tanks out there that stand up to the phenomenal clouds this tank produces!

Pros

  • A cloud chasers dream. The airflow is absolutely huge!
  • Flavour and vapour on par with a stand alone rebuildable dripping atomiser
  • Absolutely huge airflow
  • Possibly the biggest vapour out of any tank to date
  • Very easy to build
  • Side filling works very well
  • Hybrid safe connection

Cons

  • Going to be a little too airy for some
  • No single coil option
  • Chuff cap is very wide which some users may find uncomfortable
  • Under wicking will result in excessive leaking
  • A little bit weak under 50w
  • Gets through juice in no time at all
