In this review, we are looking at another over-fed bunny from Hellvape! Say hello to the new Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA – which is an updated version of the Fat Rabbit 2 RTA!

This RTA is another great example of Hellvape’s craftsmanship and marks their breeding résumé with excellence for ingenious design and manufacture!

As a company, Hellvape doesn’t need a long introduction mainly because of their standing within the vape community, along with the sheer quality of their products speaks for themselves!

Hellvape have been around the vape scene since 2016, their main offices and production plants are based in China.

The popularity of the company started to climb in 2017, with the invent of their Dead Rabbit series of RDA and RTAs, their Fat Rabbit series of tanks are proving to be almost as popular!

What to Expect From the Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA?

This RTA has been released with 7 colours options – Full Matt Black, Matt Black, Gunmetal, SS, Blue, Gold, and Rainbow.

As normal, Hellvape have produced two versions of this RTA – a 2ml version for the TPD market and a 3ml standard version with a spare 5ml bubble glass.

The Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA has 3 available airflow combinations:-

  • Top
  • Bottom
  • Both together

Trust me – this RTA can produce a “Hell” of a lot of vapour with great flavour!

With a base diameter of 25mm, the F.R.S2 will be at home on even the most popular of devices!

While the name suggests a single coil RTA, its postless deck will support single and dual DIY coils!

My sample of the Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA is the standard version and was sent directly from Hellvape for review!

Any thoughts and views expressed are my own, after a considerable testing period.

Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA – Design & Build Quality

I was sent 2 samples of this standard kit, Full Matt Black and Gold!

Both kits came presented in card boxes, and as always Hellvape included extras – a flat-head screwdriver, post screws and O-rings.

Also within the kits are – 1 pre-made 3.5mm Ni80 coil, a coil cutting tool and 1 strip of shoelace cotton.

This RTA is constructed of 304 Stainless Steel, Pyrex glass and a Resin mouthpiece.

Hellvape says the Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA has 7 parts when dismantled. To date, I cannot remove the bottom airflow ring on either tank!

As always Hellvape’s standard of quality design and manufacture is outstanding!

Starting at the top

This RTA has a removable 810 Resin mouthpiece, in various colours depending on the colour of your tank!

The top of the cap has a thick O-ring to stabilize the mouthpiece. The cap is removed from the main body with a ¼ turn.

On the reverse of the cap, you will see an O-ring which helps to minimise leaking.

The top airflow adjustment ring is removable for easy cleaning and has a lined decoration to help turn the ring while in place!

Middle Section

This section is all one piece and is lightly embossed on the outside of the coil cover with the Fat Rabbit logo.

Two kidney-shaped fill ports are housed in this section along with the dual top external airflow that consists of two slots that angle inwards!

The centre hole you can see between the two fill ports is the chimney exhaust which is where you get the lovely vapour travelling to your lips!

Looking inside of the coil cover you will see 2 honeycomb airflow plates each consisting 16x 1.2mm holes.

Build Deck

When the build deck is unscrewed and removed, you will be able to easily change the Pyrex glass tank!

Hellvape have given us a simple postless build deck that has plenty of room to hold a single coil of up to 4mm or dual coils of 2.5mm inner diameter!

The deck has 4 screws to capture your wire tails. The positive wire slots sit inside a peek insulator and seated between the wire slots is the internal deck airflow which comprises of 20x 1.1mm holes.

To each side of the deck is a space to tuck your cotton tails!

The deck has a threaded ring, which allows a smooth connection to the main part of the tank and an O-ring for the Pyrex glass to sit on!

510 connection base

Looking around the base; the bottom airflow ring has a turn decoration which is similar to the pattern of the top airflow ring. I have not yet been able to remove this airflow ring without damaging the RTA base!

On the bottom of the base is printed the normal safety information. It also has a 510 post which has well-turned threading and a gold-plated connection pin.

Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA Quick Start Guide

Today I will be using the Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA on my Innokin Coolfire Z60

Due to my Nickel allergy, I will be using a homemade single 6-wrap Kanthal 20gauge coil made on a 4mm rod for this review!

The liquid I will be using for this example is called “El Azul” from “Over the Border”.

My wicking material is Cotton Bacon V2. I’ve also swapped the 3ml Pyrex glass for the 5ml bubble glass!

Basic Prep Guide

  • Install the coil then heat and scrape it, to get rid of any hot spots
  • Add your cotton through the coil, and tuck the ends into the build deck

Make sure to tuck the cotton behind the threaded ring, or you will find the cotton will catch once the main tank is replaced.

Tip: Don’t overstuff the cotton into the wick spaces or you might get a liquid lock!

  • Dampen your coil and cotton with e-liquid this is known as Priming your coil
  • Re-assemble the build deck back into the main tank. At this point, I like to close both airflow slots. I often find this helps to eliminate air bubbles and leaks via the bottom airflow
  • Unscrew the top cap and fill the tank with e-liquid

Screw the tank onto a suitable device, open both airflows to your desired level, and now enjoy a great-tasting cloudy vape!

How Does the Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA Perform?

I’ve said in the past I love using RDA’s and RTA’s. Being the skinflint I am “lol” I find it cheaper to use this type of atomiser rather than the stock coil variety!

I am impressed with the new Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA. While it has the standard Hellvape look it is very much in my wheelhouse, it is simple to build on and being simple for me is always good “lol”. The tank fills quickly and is easy to dismantle for cleaning!

My 6 wraps coil has a resistance of 0.3Ω and I cut its tails to 5mm using my Coilytool.

Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA In use

I bedded the coil in, with both airflows opened to less than a quarter and my mod set at 20W for a few MTL toots.

With both airflows open to about 1/2 I upped the wattage to 30W. I was able to enjoy a good approximation of a Restricted Direct to Lung style, which produced a hell of a good flavour!

Upping the wattage to first 35 then 40W after opening both airflows fully, using the DTL style of vaping, I enjoyed a flavourful and cloudy vape.

I did try a 50 and 60W vape with this coil but found that while the vapour production was still great the flavour dropped off considerably!

Dual coil use

I know you’re going to ask, did I plug in dual coils? Yes I did I used two Kanthal 24g, 2.5mm diameter coils in my gold version of this RTA they totalled 0.39Ω with 9 wraps each.

I treated them as above for the single coil and managed to take the wattage up to 50W before I detected a drop in the flavour of my T.Juice Red Astaire!

Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA Airflow

While not a completely silent airflow I have no complaints with it, it was smooth on whatever setting I had it on.

The Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA is great for chain vaping although it does become a little warm. However being made mainly of Stainless Steel the tank does cool fairly quickly.

In the time I have been testing this RTA, I have had no leaking from it!

Pros

  • Excellent quality and design
  • Good flavour
  • Smooth Airflow
  • Great vapour production
  • No leaks

Cons

I have no concerns with the function of this RTA!

Final Review Verdict

This is a standard-looking Hellvape tank, which fits right in with its predecessors.

It’s an easy-to-maintain RTA, and would be great for all levels of vapers!

I have been using the Hellvape Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA for a couple of weeks now. The only thing that is of slight concern is not being able to remove the bottom airflow ring without damaging the deck/base!

The designers over at Hellvape have updated their Dead Rabbit V3 RTA and are calling it the Hellvape Dead Rabbit V3 RTA 2024 edition!

Two years ago, I was honoured to review the original Hellvape Dead Rabbit V3 RTA, which is still an excellent RTA!

While there aren’t any really significant changes to the new 2024 edition, the changes that have been made are more cosmetic making the 2024 edition slightly more pleasing to the eye.

Hellvape as a company have been around the vape scene since 2016. Their main offices and manufacturing plants are based in China with sales outlets worldwide.

Without doubt the Dead Rabbit series of RDA and RTAs are considered Hellvape’s most popular products!

What To Expect From The Hellvape Dead Rabbit V3 RTA 2024?

Hellvape have released this RTA in 7 colours – SS, Gunmetal, Gold, Blue, Matte Full Black, Matte Black and Rainbow.

The Hellvape D.R V3 2024 edition is a 25mm diameter RTA and the postless build deck provides ample space for dual coil builds.

The juice capacity of this one is 3.5ml. But in the box, you will find a bubble glass to increase the capacity up to 5.5ml. Sadly for us in the UK, the TPD version comes with a 2ml glass.

The 3.5ml tank is made of iridescent-coloured Pyrex created with an interesting process called fuming!

Hellvape has changed the airflow from the slatted, slot airflow of the original D.R V3 RTA to a honeycomb style.

To finish the look of this RTA, Hellvape have included a colour-coordinated resin mouthpiece as well as a spare Delrin drip tip.

The Dead Rabbit V3 2024 edition was sent directly to me for review by Hellvape.

As always my thoughts and views are my own, after considerable testing period!

Kit Contents

  • Hellvape Dead Rabbit V3 RTA 2024 Edition
  • 810 black Delrin drip tip
  • 2x Shoelace Cotton
  • 2x 0.37ohm Ni80 Clapton Coils
  • Bubble Glass
  • Accessory Bag
  • Coil Cutting Tool
  • User manual

Specifications

  • Size: 45x25mm
  • Weight: 59g
  • Honeycomb top adjustable airflow
  • Replaceable 810 drip tip
  • Dual coil postless deck
  • Capacity – 5.5ml / 3.5ml / 2ml(TPD)

Design & Build Quality

Each kit comes in a card box and as normal with Hellvape includes a host of extras! Including a spare 810 drip tip, 2 pre-made NI80 coils, cutting tool, cotton, screws, O-rings, screwdriver and Allen key.

Like all of Hellvape’s products, this one is of excellent quality, with a great manufacture and design!

The construction materials of the DR V3 RTA 2024 include 304 Stainless Steel, Resin and Iridescent Pyrex.

This RTA dismantles into 6 parts: the mouthpiece, fill cap, airflow control ring, main chamber, iridescent 2ml glass tank and the postless build deck!

Main Body

The Dead Rabbit V3 RTA 2024 has a colourful coordinated resin 810 mouthpiece installed. A spare black Delrin mouthpiece is in the box.

When the drip tip is removed you will find an embedded O-ring that stabilises the mouthpiece in the cap. The cap itself is made of Stainless Steel and has a pattern cut out around the edges, giving the cap a somewhat wagon wheel look!

The fill cap is removed by a ¼ turn and covers the 2 kidney-shaped fill ports.

On the reverse of the cap you will see an O-ring that aids with the no-leak design.

To remove the honeycombed Airflow Control Ring turn the airflow off and lift the ring from the body.

The main chamber section is one part and includes the fill ports, airflow slots and the coil cover. You will see the coil cover has been engraved with the Dead Rabbit logo.

And on the rear is the 2024 edition logo.

The kit includes 2 Pyrex tanks

  • Iridescent 3.5ml TPD tube
  • 5ml bubble tube.

Build Deck

This build deck is a duplicate of the original V3 RTA and has a postless design.

Before inserting your coils you will first need to undo the 4 flatheaded screws located on each side of the deck!

Looking into the deck you will see space to tuck your cotton tails.

Engraved on the bottom of the base are the normal safety marks, as well as the name of the RDA. Hellvape has also added a decorative pattern for this edition.

The base has a well-turned threaded 510 post and a Gold-plated positive pin.

Quick Start Guide

Today, I will be using a pair of KA1 24g DIY coils, they were made on a 4mm post and both together equal 0.5Ω.

For e-liquid, this time I will be using OHM Brew “Punchy Pineapple” and I will be using my Smok G-Priv 4 Mod.

Preparing For Use

Find the Ni80 coils that come with the kit, or create your own DIY coils!

  • Install your coils into the postless build deck

BTW I trimmed my coil tails at 5mm as suggested by Hellvape. I used my Coily Tool for this.

  • Screw the DR V3 RTA 2024 deck on to an Ohms meter or a suitable mod.
  • Pulse heat and scrape your coils, so they glow from the inside out
  • Insert cotton through the coils and lightly fluff and cut the tails
  • Tuck the cottontails into the wick slots
  • Dampen your cotton and coils with E-liquid
  • I like to test fire the coils at this time on a low wattage
  • Reassemble the build deck back into the tank.
  • Remove the top cap and fill the tank with E-liquid – leave the RTA alone for a few minutes so the cotton can soak up more liquid

Enjoy a nice cloudy tasty vape from the Dead Rabbit V3 RTA 2024 Edition!

Hellvape Dead Rabbit V3 RTA 2024 Performance

Having had experience with the former version of this RTA I found it very simple and easy to build and wick the 2024 Edition.

I would however suggest that you take your time and try not to overstuff the cotton spaces. As this might lead to the liquid being strangled and result in dry or burnt hits!

Wattage/Airflow settings

I started using the DR V3 RTA 2024 at 25W with the airflow open to its lowest setting (2 holes) for a few puffs. This helped with bedding in my dual coils and also resulted in a fairly tight MTL draw!

After bedding in my coils, I opened 8 of the 16 airflow holes and took my wattage to 40W for a few toots. Then to 50W with 10 holes open – this is my standard vaping configuration with this RTA with these coils and resulted in a very tasty cloudy vape.

I did take the wattage up a bit in steps with full airflow to 70W and like the previous version, my micro lungs rebelled lol!

Airflow

I have found that I prefer the airflow open to 8 of the 16 holes. Also I have played with the airflow at different settings and have found that overall the draw is very smooth.

My Tests

In testing the Hellvape Dead Rabbit V3 RTA 2024 Edition at 45/50W with these 0.5Ω coils, chain vaping was a great experience!

However, the tank does become quite warm but it does cool quickly however.

All parts of the new 2024 Edition are compatible with the previous original V3 RTA!

Pros

  • Very good quality
  • Good design
  • Great flavour and vapour production
  • Smooth airflow control
  • Easy to install coils

Cons

Basically, the Dead Rabbit V3 RTA 2024 Edition is a duplicate in every way of the original V3 so nothing is really new, I have no concerns with this tank!

Final Review Verdict

Hellvape has done it again with another fabulous looking tank.

This is a simple-to-build-on-and-use RTA that I’d be happy to recommend to most levels of vaper!

Comparing the 2024 Edition to the Original V3 the only real difference is that the airflow is a wee bit smoother and the iridescent glass is a nice touch but hardly necessary.

While this is a great tank I can’t honestly say I would have purchased this tank solely for its features as I already own the V3 RTA version.

The design team over at Hellvape have given me the opportunity today to take a good look at their newly released Hellvape Drop Dead V2 RDA and what a beauty she is too!

Who remembers the original Drop Dead RDA (as pictured below)?

It was a collaboration between Hellvape and American YouTube Vape reviewers Heathen and TVC, combining both the Dead Rabbit and Drop RDAs.

The new Drop Dead V2 includes a much-improved airflow and a deeper juice well. The iconic bunny ear posts have been replaced with a simple-to-use postless deck!

Hellvape is a company that has been around the vape scene since 2016. They have their main offices and manufacturing plants based in China with sales outlets worldwide!

Hellvape’s most popular range of products is the Dead Rabbit series of RDA and RTAs.

What to Expect From the Hellvape Drop Dead V2 RDA?

It has been released in 8 colours – SS, Matte Black, Gold, Blue, Gunmetal, Matt Full Black, Rainbow and Bloody Mess.

The Drop Dead V2 is a 24mm diameter RDA and the postless build deck provides ample space for dual coil builds. The juice well depth has been increased to a staggering 6.2mm!

Hellvape has increased the airflow inlet holes, from the 28 holes of the original to a whopping 36 holes now. Giving you a fabulous 21 combinations for a great cloudy and flavourful vape.

The Drop Dead Version 2 RDA was sent directly to me for review by Hellvape!

As always my thoughts and views are my own, after considerably testing it.

Kit Contents

  • Hellvape Drop Dead 2 RDA
  • Extra colourful 810 drip tip
  • 2x Shoelace Cotton
  • 2x 0.37ohm Ni80 Clapton Coils
  • Accessory Bag
  • Coil Cutting Tool
  • BF (squonk) pin
  • User manual

Specifications

  • Size: 24x27mm
  • Weight: 42g
  • Side honeycomb adjustable airflow
  • Replaceable 810 drip tip
  • Dual coil postless deck
  • Includes optional hollow 510 pin for squonking
  • 2mm e-juice well depth

Hellvape Drop Dead V2 RDA – Design and Build Quality

Each kit is well presented in a card box with a paper oversleeve and includes a host of extras. Including: 2x 810 drip tips, 2 pre-made DIY coils, a cutting tool, cotton, screws, O-rings, a bf pin, a screwdriver and 2 Allen keys.

Like all of Hellvape’s products, this one is of great quality and has excellent manufacture and design!

The construction materials of the Drop Dead V2 RDA include 304 Stainless Steel and Resin.

This RDA comes apart in 5 pieces: the mouthpiece, airflow cap, barrel, build deck and the positive and or BF (Squonk) connection pins!

Starting At the Top

The top of the Drop Dead V2 RDA is graced with a colourful stainless steel and resin 810 mouthpiece. A spare colourful resin mouthpiece can be found in the box.

Removing the mouthpiece, you will find an O-ring that stabilises the mouthpiece inside the cap. When in place the mouthpiece sits on the flat surface of the airflow cap!

The airflow cap is removable from the barrel and has staggered projections that block/uncover the airflow holes within the barrel.

There is an O-ring around the cap body to allow for smooth action when adjusting the airflow.

On the reverse side of the airflow cap there is a small amount of doming. This helps with any liquid splash or any condensation created to drip back down to the cotton and coils.

The barrel for this RDA I would say is pretty much standard, it does come with the Drop Dead logo on the front. The Matt Black version which is currently under review, has a Silver-coloured logo, while the rest of the range has logos that are the same colour as the barrel.

One big change from the original Drop Dead, the V2 has 18 airflow holes over 3 rows on each side of the barrel, the original had only 14 over 2 rows.

That’s 36 holes in total, which will allow for 21 airflow actions. This makes for a great customizable feature!

Hellvape Drop Dead V2 RDA – Build Deck

Removing the build deck from the barrel, you will see Hellvape have given us a postless design build deck for this RDA in which to place our DIY coils.

The juice well is nice and deep (6.2mm).

To insert your coils you will first need to undo the 4 flatheaded screws located on each side of the deck!

Below the screws are 2 O-rings that ensure a leak-proof seal when the build deck is in place within the barrel.

Engraved lightly on the bottom of the base are the normal safety marks, as well as Hellvape’s logo and the name of the RDA!

The base has a well-turned threaded 510 post which holds a gold-plated positive pin that can be replaced for the BF hollow pin for use with a squonk mod.

Hellvape Drop Dead V2 RDA – Quick Start Guide

Today, I will be using 2 KA1 20g DIY coils, they were made on a 4mm post and both together equal 0.16Ω.

For this review, I will use the RDA on my Voopoo Drag 2 Mod and for e-liquid I will be using my DIY Lemonade e-liquid made from a concentrate purchased at Darkstar.

Hellvape Drop Dead V2 RDA – Preparing the RDA for Use

Find the Ni80 coils that came with the kit or like me create your own DIY coils!

  • Remove the barrel from the deck
  • Install your coils in the build deck

BTW I trimmed my coil tails at 5mm using my Coily Tool

  • Screw the Drop Dead V2 RDA deck onto a suitable device or Ohm meter.
  • Pulse heat and scrape your coils, so they glow from the inside out
  • Allow the coils to cool, then insert the cotton through the coils, cut and fluff then tuck the cotton tails into the RDA deck
  • Thoroughly prime your cotton and coils with E-liquid
  • Now, I like to test-fire the RDA on a low wattage!
  • Drip some more liquid on the coils/cotton if needed and replace the cap and barrel

Enjoy some great vapour with the new Drop Dead V2 RDA!

How Does the Hellvape Drop Dead V2 RDA Perform?

I’ve said in other reviews, I prefer RDAs and RTAs over stock coil tanks. I find them more satisfying with a better production of flavour and vapour – and being the cheapskate I am, it’s often cheaper to create my coils.

Wattage/Airflow

I started using the Drop Dead V2 RDA at 35W for a few puffs, this helped to bed the coil in. I also set the cap airflow to its lowest setting, i.e. 3 holes open on the bottom row!

This setting gave me a decent fairly tight MTL draw!

After bedding in my coils, I opened the bottom row of airflow and took my wattage to 60W, for a few toots.

I next had the bottom and middle rows open and whacked the wattage up to 75W. I was more than satisfied with this setting for vapour production and flavour!

But you know I had to try the airflow fully open so I upped the wattage again in 5W increments this time to 100W.

I will admit to being a wuss here lol! As I experienced some splash back at 100W the vapour was too hot for my micro lungs, causing me to cough a bit!

My average setting for this RDA is between 60 and 80W with the airflow set with the 2 bottom airflow rows open.

Airflow

While my default setting is with the 2 bottom row open, I have played with the airflow, and the draw is fairly smooth overall.

With the airflow wide open the Drop Dead V2 RDA has the potential to be a hell of a cloud beast!

My Tests

The Drop Dead V2 RDA handles chain vaping well! However, the barrel does become quite hot after a while, but as the RDA is made of Stainless Steel it does cool fairly quickly!

In my testing, I swapped the positive pin for the BF (squonk) pin and used the RDA on my Vandy Vape Pulse 80w Box Mod.

I’ve got to say as a squonk RDA I was impressed with the liquid retention because of the 6.2mm deep juice well.

OK, the RDA did leak a little from the airflow in BF mode, this was due to my over squonking the bottle in my exuberance!

Pros

  • Great quality and design
  • Good flavour
  • Great vapour production
  • Simple easy to use airflow control
  • BF (Squonk) pin option

Cons

I have no concerns with this RDA, but if I had to be a picky pain, I’d ask Hellvape to extend the gap between the posts a little wider so longer coils can be used!

Final Review Verdict

Another winner for Hellvape! This is a good-looking RDA, it functions exactly as it says on the tin.

A simple to build on and use RDA which I’d recommend to most levels of vaper!

I have found myself using this RDA almost every day using different regulated and mechanical devices.

What To Expect From The Hellvape Drop Dead 2 RDA…

Even the logo encompasses both brands with the familiar sick looking Rabbit encased by two “D”s for the Drop Dead.

drop dead 2 rda components

As the name suggests this is an RDA – short for Rebuildable Dripping Atomiser – you can read up more about rebuildables in our guide here.

The main update appears to be the airflow style – you can see the comparison with the original Drop Dead RDA in the image below.

drop dead 2 rda comparison

On the side of the barrel are rows of 36 1x1mm holes. You rotate the barrel to open or close the airflow.

drop dead 2 rda airflow

Due to the design of the deck you can now select as many holes / combination of holes as you would like in either rows or columns.

Also the deck has been redesigned to allow more room for the dual coils. Sadly this does mean the loss of the “Rabbit Ear” posts which were popular on the Dead Rabbit atomisers.

This time, I have the latest chubby bunny to take a look at – the Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 RTA.

Well, it looks like the designers over at Hellvape have been over-feeding their Bunny Rabbits again!

Being the 4th tank to bear the moniker of Fat Rabbit, it’s another great example of Hellvape’s ingenious design and craftsmanship which they put into all their products!

The original Fat Rabbit RTA took enthusiasts of the brand by storm, so how did I get on with this new version?

Hellvape is a company that has been around the vape scene since 2016. They have their main offices and manufacturing plants based in China. Hellvape also has sales outlets worldwide. No other introduction is necessary to the vaping community because of the sheer popularity of their products!

They are known most famously for their Dead Rabbit range of RDA and RTAs.

The Fat Rabbit range includes the Fat Rabbit RTAFat Rabbit Solo RTA and Fat Rabbit 2 Sub Ohm Tank.

What to Expect From The Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 RTA?

Hellvape has released this Chubby Bunny 2 RTA in 6 colours – Black, Rainbow, SS, Gold, Gunmetal and Blue.

Essentially the Fat Rabbit 2 RTA is an upgraded version of the original Fat Rabbit RTA!

It has a postless build deck that provides ample space for dual coil builds!

Hellvape has upgraded the internal airflow to a honeycombed style that helps to increase the flavour profile by 15%, controlled by its top and bottom dual airflow.

This RTA has a substantial 4ml liquid capacity that can be increased further to 6.5ml by changing to the Bubble Glass. There is a 2ml version for release in TPD regulated areas.

The ¼ turn fill top cap makes this a very easy-to-fill tank.

The Fat Rabbit 2 RTA was sent directly to me for review by Hellvape!

As always my thoughts and views are my own, after considerable testing.

Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 RTA – Design and Build Quality

I have the standard Gunmetal version of this Rebuildable Tank Atomizer, it comes well presented in a card box.

The kit includes a host of extras under the foam tray (coils, cotton, screws, O-rings and screwdriver).

Like always with Hellvape products, this one has a great quality of manufacture and a design that is excellent!

The construction materials of the Fat Rabbit 2 RTA include 304 Stainless Steel, Pyrex glass and Delrin.

This RTA is dismantled into 7 parts – this includes the top and bottom airflow rings, the latter of which I have not yet been able to remove lol.

Starting At The Top

Gracing the top of the Fat Rabbit 2 RTA is a Black Delrin 810 mouthpiece.

A removable ¼ turn fill cap makes filling this tank easy and less messy. The cap has an embedded O-ring to stabilize the mouthpiece.

Around the edge of the cap is a knurling band that helps with its removal.

On the reverse side of the cap, you will see an O-ring that helps with leak prevention.

Filling this RTA is very easy via the 2 kidney-shaped slots.

The top airflow ring is removable from the main structure, which also houses the chimney and the coil cover.

On the outside of the coil cover, it has been engraved with the Fat Rabbit Logo.

The inside of the coil cover has 2 plates, each having 12x Ø1.2mm honeycombed holes – these connect with the top airflow and allow air to strike the coils.

The Fat Rabbit 2 RTA comes with the 4ml straight Pyrex glass installed.

NB – the standard version of this kit has a 6.5ml bubble glass in the box, whereas the TPD version comes with a 2ml glass.

When removing the build deck/base from the tank, the tank glass is then removable.

Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 RTA – Build Deck

After removing the build deck from the tank, you will see 32x Ø1 airflow holes, 24 of which are enclosed within a Peek insulator surround, along with the positive wire slots.

To each side of the wire slots are two spaces for your wick tails and directly under the deck you will see a well-turned thread for the coil cover.

On inspection of the build deck, you will note it is raised slightly from the base so the air will flow freely beneath the coil.

Bottom Of The RTA

Hellvape has printed the normal legal logos, their logo and the name of the RTA.

The well-turned 510 connection threading holds a Gold-plated pin.

Airflow

Like the original, this version of the RTA has dual airflow rings, allowing the user to dial the airflow to suit their taste!

Both airflow rings have a lined pattern for decoration that also helps with grip while turning either airflow.

Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 RTA – Quick Start Guide

Due to my nickel allergy, I will be using KA1 24g, two strands separately twisted, 7 wrap DIY coils. These were made on a 3mm post and spaced – both together = 0.12 Ω.

I will be using this RTA on my Smok Mag 18 Mod, and my choice of liquid today is Cider “Rhubarb” by E Juice Warehouse – it’s a sharp delicate almost floral flavour.

Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 RTA – Prepping the Deck

Use the Ni80 coils that came with the kit or like me make your own DIY coils!

  • Remove the base/build deck and install your coils – BTW I cut my coil tails at 5mm using my Coily Tool, the kit does include a cutting tool
  • Heat and scrape your coils, so they glow from the inside out unless you have spaced them like mine
  • Insert the cotton through the coils cut and fluff and tuck the cotton tails into the cotton spaces
  • Dampen your cotton and coils with E-liquid – this is called Priming your coils
  • Reassemble the RTA and fill the tank with e-liquid
  • Screw the Fat Rabbit 2 RTA onto a suitable device and leave the mod and tank alone for around 3 minutes so the cotton can soak up more liquid!

How Does the Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 RTA Perform?

I prefer to use RDAs and RTAs as I find them more satisfying with better flavour and vapour production. It’s also cheaper and easier to create my coils!

Wattage

I started using the Fat Rabbit 2 RTA at 30W for a few toots just to bed the coil in. With both airflows set to their lowest setting, I did enjoy a loose MTL draw!

There is no getting away from it F.R 2 RTA is most definitely a cloud-chucking DTL beast.

I took my wattage up to 50, 60 and then to 70W, all of which gave me an adequate warm vape with a heck of a cloud.

I upped the wattage to 100W and 150W and almost barfed up a lung, as the vapour was too hot for my micro lungs!

My standard everyday wattage for this RTA is between 75 and 90W with the airflow rings set almost open.

Flavour

I like to think of myself as a fruit flavour connoisseur lol – I am constantly searching for great fruit-flavoured e-liquids.

Of course, to get a great flavour from your liquid, you will need a good RDA/RTA and thankfully, the Fat Rabbit 2 RTA not only fits the bill but delivers some of the best flavours I have enjoyed for a while!

Airflow

Very much like the original chubby bunny, I found the Fat Rabbit 2 RTA dual airflow was delightful to use. I was able to dial both airflow rings to suit my style!

I put the F.R.2 RTA up against the original Fat Rabbit and agree with Hellvape when they say that the honeycombed airflow increases the flavour profile by 15%.

The draw for me was very smooth, with a full-on flavour and excellent vapour production, no matter how I set up the airflow!

My Tests

The F.R 2 RTA handles chain vaping well! However, I have found the tank does become very hot quickly especially if you chain vape it with a high wattage. As it is made primarily of Stainless Steel, it fortunately cools off fairly quickly!

In testing, I have also used the Fat Rabbit 2 RTA with a couple of my other mods, the Geekvape L200 Classic and the Aspire Rhea both of which look great with the 28mm Fat Rabbit 2 RTA on top and function is top-notch with it.

Pros

  • Great quality and design
  • Good flavour
  • Wonderful vapour production
  • Delightful airflow control

Cons

I have no concerns with this RTA at all.

Final Review Verdict

A great-looking addition to the Hellvape range of Bunnies, it functions exactly as it is described in the promotional material!

This RTA was created for intermediate to experienced vapers – I wouldn’t recommend it to those of lesser experience.

I didn’t find any peculiarities with this RTA and I would’ve bought it anyway just to add to my collection!

Up for review today is the Hellvape Dead Rabbit Solo RTA – a 24mm single-coil Rebuildable Tank Atomiser (RTA).

Many people – myself included – appreciate the fine quality Hellvape brings with their products. Why they are so prolific with this series? And is this a case of evolution and experimentation, as we are led to believe, or are they just trying to flog us another Dead Bunny?

Let’s find out…

Hellvape have been around the vape scene since 2016, their main offices and production plants are based in China. They need no other introduction basically because of the popularity and quality of their products!

Since 2017 they have been most famously known for their Dead Rabbit series of RDA and RTAs, as well as numerous stock coil tanks.

Hellvape has also released a few regulated mods like the Arez 120 and the Hell200 Kit.

What to Expect From the Hellvape Dead Rabbit Solo RTA?

The Solo RTA has been released in 6 colours – SS, Gunmetal, Gold, Rainbow, Blue and Matte Black.

And has been produced in 2 versions:

  • 2ml for the TPD market
  • 4ml standard version that comes with a spare bubble glass

At first glance the Hellvape Dead Rabbit Solo RTA doesn’t seem to be anything special, in fact to me it seems a bit plain!

dead rabbit solo rta FB

However, inside this RTA is a bit of magic going on with a new dual top interlayer honeycombed airflow, that is guaranteed to be leak-proof. Trust me on this, this RTA can produce some intense flavour!

dead rabbit solo rta airflow

The RTA has a base diameter of 24mm so will fit most popular devices!

It has a single coil deck with generous coil space that will support both clockwise and anti-clockwise DIY coils!

My sample of the Dead Rabbit Solo RTA is the standard 4ml version and was sent directly to us for review from Hellvape!

As always my thoughts and views are my own – after a considerable testing period.

Kit Contents

  • Bubble glass (standard version only)
  • Extras bag – containing screwdriver, O-rings and post screws
  • User Manual

Hellvape Dead Rabbit Solo RTA Specifications

  • Size: 24×37.4mm

Hellvape Dead Rabbit Solo RTA – Design and Build Quality

As seen by my photos, I was sent 2 samples of the standard kit in Matte Back and Gunmetal.

The kit comes presented well in a card box, with extras including a flat-head screwdriver, post screws and a few O-rings.

However, neither of these sample kits contained any pre-made DIY coils – so I’m unsure if the retail version will or not!

The construction materials the RTA Solo is made of include 304 Stainless Steel, Pyrex glass and Delrin.

This RTA is constructed of 6 parts, however, the RTA can be further dismantled by removing the sliding fill cover and the silicone fill port gasket is replaceable.

As always Hellvape’s standard of quality and design along with manufacture is outstanding!

Starting At The Top

The RTA has a low-profile 810 Delrin mouthpiece.

The Stainless Steel top cap is removed by unscrewing it. The cap has a thick O-ring to stabilise the mouthpiece and the chimney shaft under the drip tip has “Hellvape” as printed advertising.

When in place, the cap covers a slide-fill port!

To open the fill port, push the cap in the direction of the printed arrow.

The airflow adjustment ring is removable for easy cleaning.

Middle Section

This section is all one piece, and is printed on the coil cover outside with the D.R. logo and “Dead Rabbit Solo”.

This section houses a single kidney-shaped fill port along with the dual top external airflow that consists of 2 slots that angle inwards.

The centre hole you can see is the chimney outlet!

Looking into the coil cover you will see the honeycomb airflow plates that consist of 2 sets of 14 holes!

Build Deck

When the build deck is unscrewed and removed, you can remove the Pyrex glass tank easily.

This is a simple postless style deck, that has plenty of room to hold a single coil of up to 4mm in diameter!

The deck has 4 screws to capture your wire tails. The positive wire slots sit inside a peek insulator and seated between the wire slots is the internal airflow which comprises of 3 slots.

And to each side of the deck is tucking space for your cotton tails!

The deck has a thread ring around it, which allows a smooth connection to the main part of the tank and it has an O-ring that will sit flush with the Pyrex glass.

510 Base Connection

Looking at the outside of the deck base is a cut-out pattern to help with the removal and replacement!

On the bottom of the base, Hellvape have printed all their normal safety information.

The base has a Gold-plated pin and a 510 connection post which has well-turned threading!

Hellvape Dead Rabbit Solo RTA Quick Start Guide

As no coils came with my kits, I will be using a pre-made Centipede coil!

The liquid I will be using today is called “El-Morado” from a company called Over the Border.

I will be using my favourite Cotton Bacon V2, to wick this tank. I’ve also swapped the straight glass for the bubble tank!

And to satisfy my weird sense of humour, I will be using the Dead Rabbit Solo RTA on my Smok Mag Solo, (Solo on a Solo) lol.

Installing The Coil

Make your coil or use a pre-made one, such as those available here. My Centipede coil came to me from Pilot Vape, as part of a combination pack of 16 coils!

  • Trim, install then heat and scrape your coil to get rid of any hot spots
  • Add and trim your cotton, and tuck the ends loosely into the build deck
  • Make sure to tuck the cotton behind the threaded ring,

I tend to change my cotton once a day – more often if I use a different liquid!

Tip: Don’t overstuff the cotton into the wick spaces or it might cause a liquid lock and burn your cotton!

  • Dampen your coil and cotton with e-liquid this is known as Priming
  • Re-assemble the build deck back into the main tank, at this point, I like to close the airflow
  • Open the sliding fill port and fill the tank with e-liquid
  • Screw the tank onto a suitable device, open the airflow and enjoy a great-tasting vape!

How Does the Hellvape Dead Rabbit Solo RTA Perform?

I’ve said in the past I love using RDAs and RTAs, so I won’t bore you with why lol.

However, to say I am impressed with the new Hellvape Solo RTA is very much an understatement! It is very much in my wheelhouse, as it’s simple to build on, fills quickly, and is easily dismantled for cleaning!

The coil I am using today has an inner diameter of 2.5mm. I cut the tails to 4.5mm using my Coilytool. By the way, the resistance for this coil worked out to be 0.14Ω.

Performance

I bedded the coil in, with the airflow opened to less than halfway and my mod set at 45W for a few draws.

Closing the airflow to about ¼ and dropping the wattage to 35W, I was able to enjoy a good approximation of both MTL and RDL vaping styles, both of which produced a hell of a good flavour!

Upping the wattage to 60W and fully opening the airflow for a mid-level DTL flavourful and cloudy vape.

I again upped the wattage this time to 80, 90 and 100W in 5W increments. While at these values the result was a great flavour and the clouds were excellent! I must admit though the heat was a little more than my micro lungs could take lol.

Airflow

The standard dual external airflow of course works in conjunction with the internal airflow. The latter consists of 2 plates that have 14 honeycomb holes each.

While not a completely silent RTA, I must say the draw from this is one of the smoothest Dead Rabbit products so far!

It handles chain vaping very well. It does become a little warm after a while, but being made mainly of Stainless Steel the tank does cool fairly quickly.

I have had no leaking from this RTA at all!

Pros

  • Very good quality and design
  • Great flavour
  • Smooth Airflow
  • Excellent vapour production
  • No leaks

Cons

I have no concerns with this great little RTA!

Final Review Verdict

This is somewhat of a plain little tank, but it does fit right in with the Hellvape range of Dead Bunnies.

An easy maintenance RTA, that in my opinion will be a great learning RTA for those who wish to experience the building side of vaping, as well as those with more experience!

I have been using this for 2 weeks. I can honestly say I haven’t found anything I dislike about it! The flavour and vapour production I have been receiving have been almost outstanding!

The D.R Pro RDA is a great looking 24mm topper that can be customised for different looks with coloured dual airflow rings!

Hellvape has been on the vape scene since 2016, their main offices are based in Shenzhen China and they have many outlets worldwide.

Because of the popularity of their products, Hellvape needs no introduction to the wider vaping community! Except to say that their attention to detail with their designs and the quality of their manufacture is truly exceptional!

The brand is most famously known for their Dead Rabbit range of RDA and RTAs, like Dead Rabbit RDA, Dead Rabbit V2 RDA and the Dead Rabbit V3 RDA.

Hellvape Dead Rabbit Pro RDA – Design and Build Quality

As you can see, Hellvape sent me both the Stainless Steel and Gunmetal versions of this RDA for review. As always each kit has been presented well in a card box with lots of extras!

Dead Rabbit Pro RDA cap removed

Both of the examples I have been sent are designed and manufactured to Hellvape’s usual high standard.

The kit includes a free top airflow ring and a spare resin 510 mouthpiece.

The construction materials for this RDA are Stainless Steel and Resin.

The Pro RDA will dismantle into 5 parts, or 6 if you count the BF Pin!

dead rabbit pro rda components

Starting at the top

The RDA has a low-profile resin 510 mouthpiece installed that is sealed to a stainless steel shaft. This mouthpiece can be swapped for the spare low-profile colourful resin 510 drip tip included within the kit!

Dead Rabbit Pro RDA drip tips

Dead Rabbit Pro RDA Cap

Removing the stainless steel cap reveals the build deck, which I’ll come back to later.

The cap has 3 parts to it – the main body, the top side airflow ring and the bottom side airflow ring. To remove these rings it’s a simple matter of turning each airflow ring to its closed position, then pulling them off!

Both the rings are slightly different, the bottom ring has a dual single-slotted airflow with Dead Rabbit Pro printed on it, while the top ring has dual narrow slots on each side.

Dead Rabbit Pro RDA dismantled

Main Cap Section

The mouthpiece is held in position by an O-ring, around this top section is a cut-out pattern for decoration.

Dead Rabbit Pro RDA main cap

Moving down the cap you will see 2 O-rings that facilitate easy adjustment of the AFC rings, along with 2 sets of airflow inlets to each side of the cap. The bottom airflow has a standard single slot while the top airflow has a honeycomb pattern consisting of 10 holes on each side of the cap!

Dead Rabbit Pro RDA airflow inlets

Both sides of the cap have small bayonets that line up with the cut-outs on the inside of each ring to lock them in place.

Looking inside the cap you will see a bit of doming, this helps with condensation and prevent liquid splash-back.

Dead Rabbit Pro RDA Build Deck Base

On the bottom of the deck you will see the normal well-turned 510 threaded post and a standard 510 pin. This pin protrudes enough to be used on a hybrid mech mod. The pin is Gold Plated and can be replaced with the supplied BF hollow squonk pin.

Hellvape has included all normal info lightly engraved onto the bottom of the base – the RDA name, Hellvape logo and the standard recycle and CE marks.

The Build Deck

It comprises of 2 postless style terminals seated on peek insulators. The internal airflow between the terminals allows the airflow to strike the coil/s from underneath.

To the side of each terminal is a wicking space for your cotton tails.

The wire coils are inserted into the top of the posts and screwed into position by the screws on the sides.

Hellvape Dead Rabbit Pro RDA Airflow

The Pro RDA can be extremely airy with its 3 types of airflow action giving the user multiple choices. Choose top-side airflow only, bottom-side airflow only or both open together!

Hellvape Dead Rabbit Pro RDA – Quick Start Guide

The kit comes with two Ni80 coils. But for this review (due to my nickel allergy) I will be using my own KA1 24g – 6 wraps slightly spaced DIY coils. These were made on a 3mm post both together come out at 0.38Ω.

I will be firing the Pro RDA on my Hellvape Hell200, and my choice of liquid today is one of my favourites TJuice Red Astaire.

Hellvape Dead Rabbit Pro RDA – Building

Buy or make your own DIY coils or use the Ni80 coils that came with the kit.

  • Remove the cap, unscrew the post screws sufficiently to allow the coil legs to enter.
  • Install your coil legs into the post holes. I cut my coil tails at 5mm using my Coily Tool, the kit does include a cutting tool but I prefer the feel of my Coily!
  • If you don’t space your coils as I have, heat and scrape the coils (you will want the coils heating evenly from the inside out).
  • Insert your cotton through the coils, cut and fluff and then tuck the cotton tails into the cotton spaces on the deck
  • Load your cotton and coils with E-liquid this is called Priming your coils
  • I like to test-fire my RDA at this point by pulsing the power
  • Drip some more E-liquid onto the cotton and reassemble the cap back onto the deck

Enjoy the new Hellvape Pro RDA’s great cloudy and flavourful vape!

How Does the Hellvape Dead Rabbit Pro RDA Perform?

I love using RDAs, as I’ve said in the past the quality of vapour and flavour produced from them can be excellent – not to mention the cost-effectiveness of DIY coil building!

Airflow, Flavour and Vapour Production

I was very impressed by the excellent flavour of this RDA and my chosen liquid.

Admittedly for me with both airflows wide open at 45W it produces excellent vapour, although for me the flavour was a bit on the muted side.

The configuration I now use is with the bottom airflow open fully and with the top airflow open so that only 4 of the honeycomb holes open!

Removable Airflow Rings

Hellvape has released alongside the Dead Rabbit Pro RDA a selection of ring kits for separate purchase. They come in a variety of different colours and the kits include a top and bottom airflow ring as well as a resin mouthpiece!

dead rabbit pro diy combo colours

Hellvape kindly sent me two of these kits in pink.

Because I’m a bit anal of how my toppers look, I swapped the Stainless Steel airflow rings and its mouthpiece from the 2nd Dead Rabbit Pro RDA they sent, mainly because I preferred the look on the Gunmetal cap!

I have since writing this review used the Hellvape Dead Rabbit Pro RDA on my Dovpo Topside Dual Squonk Mod with the BF Pin installed and for a limited time on my Reewape Ruok Ghost 21700 Mech Mod.

Pros

  • Great quality and design
  • Customizable looks
  • Excellent flavour
  • Wonderful vapour production
  • Easy-to-use airflow controls

Cons

I have no concerns with this RDA kit, but if I had to be a picky pain I’d say the deck screw head slots are a little shallow!

Final Review Verdict

Hellvape has created many Dead Rabbit products, and so far I’ve got to say this is my favourite RDA. I am very impressed by the flavour and vapour production this one can produce as well as the different combinations of looks that can be customised!

The postless design build deck makes it easy to build on!

I would recommend this RDA for intermediate and experienced users and to be quite honest, I couldn’t find anything I didn’t like about this RDA.

Today I’m going to be taking a look at one of the newest MTL RTA’s on the market – it’s from those lovely bunny designers – the Hellvape Dead Rabbit MTL RTA!

The Hellvape Dead Rabbit MTL RTA is a sweet-looking little tank that can take up to 4mls of e-liquid and utilises a single DIY coil.

Hellvape has been in and around the vape scene since 2016, with its main offices based in China and they have various outlets worldwide.

Because of the popularity of their products, they really need no introduction to the wider vaping community, except to say that their attention to detail with their designs and their quality of manufacturing is truly exceptional!

Hellvape is most famously known for their Dead Rabbit range of RDA and RTAs and tank atomizers.

They have released a few mouth-to-lung RTA toppers in the past like Vertex MTL RTA and the MD MTL RTA.

The Hellvape Dead Rabbit MTL RTA has a base diameter of 23mm with a single external airflow inlet that has 4 settings that are operated by rotating the tank base ring!

This RTA takes 1 single DIY coil and Hellvape has given us the choice of 2 drip tips as well as 2 liquid capacities (2ml & 4ml) via separate chambers.

This sample Dead Rabbit MTL RTA was sent directly to me for review by Hellvape!

As always my thoughts and views are my own, after a considerable testing period.

Hellvape Dead Rabbit MTL RTA – Design and Build Quality

As you can see by my photos, Hellvape sent me the stainless steel version of this RTA for review, and as always the kit has been presented well in a card box.

The kit includes a 4ml liquid chamber, spare O-rings, spare post screws along with a Philips head screwdriver, cotton, a single Ni80 Clapton coil and a spare 510 Delrin mouthpiece!

The construction materials that make up the MTL RTA are 304 Stainless Steel, Pyrex glass and Resin/Delrin.

This RTA dismantles into 5 parts if you count removing the Pyrex glass from the liquid chamber.

Starting at the top

The tank is pre-installed with a long resin 510 mouthpiece that is sealed to Stainless Steel heat sink fins. This mouthpiece can be swapped for the spare shorter chess like 510 Delrin drip tip!

Removing the Stainless Steel fill cap reveals two liquid fill ports. The cap has a replaceable Silicone rubber gasket for leak prevention on the reverse side. The cap itself has a cog-like pattern and includes a knurling strip to help with its removal.

The main tank section is one piece and comprises of 2 slots for liquid filling, the chimney and the coil cover.

The two coil covers included with the kit have the Dead Rabbit logo engraved on to them.

It is very easy to remove the Pyrex glass from the main section with thumb and finger pressure – angle the glass and pull it off!

The 510 connection base unscrews from the base of the tank to reveal the single coil build deck. It comprises of a 2 post deck, a single internal airflow shaft and 2 spaces for your cotton. On each side of the deck below the deck threading are 4 honeycombed liquid intake holes.

On the bottom of the base, you will see all the normal info lightly engraved including, the tank name, Hellvape logo and the standard recycle and CE marks.

The 510 pin is gold plated and the shaft has well-turned threading, you will also see that the adjustable airflow ring has knurling to help with turning.

Hellvape has included within the kit a 0.7Ω Ni80 DIY coil and 1 piece of shoelace cotton.

My RTA came with the 2ml liquid chamber pre-installed, the 4ml chamber is in the box!

Airflow

The Dead Rabbit MTL RTA has a single external airflow slot that can be turned smoothly to suit user restrictions.

The airflow restriction hole sizes are 0.8mm, 1.2mm, 1.4mm, 1.6mm!

Hellvape Dead Rabbit MTL RTA – Quick Start Guide

Make your own DIY coil or use the Ni80 coil that came with the kit.

  • Unscrew the build deck and install your coil, trim the leads as near to the posts as possible
  • Heat and scrape the coil (you want the coil heating evenly from the inside out)
  • Insert your cotton through the coil, cut and fluff slightly and then tuck the cotton tails into the cotton spaces on the deck
  • Dampen your cotton and coil with E-liquid this is called Priming your coil
  • Re-assemble the RTA
  • At this point, I like to close the airflow
  • Unscrew the top cap and fill the Dead Rabbit MTL RTA with your e-liquid
  • Replace the cap and screw the tank onto a suitable device. Leave your mod and tank alone for a couple of minutes so the cotton can soak up more liquid – open the airflow and enjoy!

How Does the Hellvape Dead Rabbit MTL RTA Perform?

Before I start this section, if you are looking for a restricted-direct-to-lung vape I wanted to respectfully point out you may want to look elsewhere, as this RTA is a dedicated mouth-to-lung tank only!

For this review I will be using my own 24g KA1 DIY coil made on a 2mm post. I’m using Kanthal due to my nickel allergy!

I will be using this RTA with the 4ml chamber installed and firing it on my Joyetech E-Vic mini, my choice of liquid today is Illusions Awakening Mamba.

Airflow and Wattage

I started my vape experience with this little RTA by setting my E-Vic Mini to 10W and using the smallest airflow setting 0.8mm, this for me was an extremely cheek-sucking vape.

I quickly progressed the airflow and power settings up to 1.2mm at 12W, then 1.4mm at 13/14W.

Finally I settled on the last airflow setting 1.6mm and I was able to take the wattage to 16/18W. Even so, the airflow draw was still very tight for me!

Vapour and Flavour Production

I have to say at this point I’m a direct-to-lung user and while I was very impressed by the excellent clean sharp flavour of this RTA and that of my chosen liquid, the vapour production was as typically low as normal for an MTL draw which is excellent if you need a stealth vape!

Preparation for use

Out of personal experience, I found this to be among one of the easiest RTA decks to build on. However, I would suggest holding the coil with your thumb while screwing down the contact leads or the coil might move. I would also recommend not over stuffing the deck cotton spaces, as this will lead to strangling the liquid, likewise not enough cotton will lead to leaks via the airflow slot!

I only suffered 1 leak with the Dead Rabbit MTL RTA when I first coiled it up, this was due to insufficient cotton in the wick spaces, which was easy to remedy.

Pros

  • Great quality and design
  • Excellent flavour
  • Adequate MTL vapour production
  • Easy-to-use airflow control

Cons

As a dedicated mouth-to-lung tank I have no concerns

Final Review Verdict

Hellvape has created many Dead Rabbit products, and while I have previously stated I’m not much of a mouth-to-lung vaper, I am still impressed by the flavour this one can produce.

The Dead Rabbit MTL RTA is very simple to build on. It’s just a matter of placing the coil in and screwing down the post screws. The only learning curve I had was trimming the cotton to the right length so the cotton wouldn’t strangle the liquid intake or leak!

I would recommend this RTA for new and intermediate users as a good replacement for the dreaded disposable vaping devices. Plus of course to those experienced with MTL RTA vaping.

To be honest, I didn’t find anything wrong with this RTA as it stands, however speaking personally an option for RDL airflow would have been nice!

The Fat Rabbit 2 Tank is an elegant-looking sub-ohm tank that has been aimed at intermediate and experienced DTL (Direct To Lung) vapers!

Hellvape have been around the vape scene since 2016, their main offices are based in China. They really need no other introduction to the wider vaping community because of the popularity of their products!

The company are most famously known for their Dead Rabbit range of RDA’s / RTA’s and tanks. They have also released a few regulated mod devices like the Arez 120 and the recently released Hell200 Kit.

Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 Tank Design and Build Quality

As you can see by my photos, Hellvape have sent me the standard Gunmetal version of this tank, its well presented in a card box with a foam tray.

The kit includes a Bubble Glass and spare O-rings plus 2 stock coils for you to try!

The construction materials of this tank are 304 Stainless Steel, Pyrex Glass and Delrin.

This version dismantles into 7 parts if you include the removable triple-slotted top airflow ring and the coil.

Tank Assembly

Starting at the top – this tank has a Delrin 810 mouthpiece!

The removable stainless steel fill cap is a ¼ turn, which makes the tank very easy to fill.  The cap has an embedded O-ring to stabilise the mouthpiece.

As you can see this also has a replaceable silicone rubber stopper for leak prevention!

The main tank section has 3 slots for liquid filling.

At the top is one of the triple airflow adjustment rings.

Another airflow adjuster is at the bottom of the tank, plus this section houses the coil.

To replace the coil unscrew the 510 connection cup.

When the base connection cup is removed you are also able to replace the Pyrex glass tank.

My standard version of the tank came with a 4ml straight glass installed and a spare 5ml Bubble Glass in the box!

Coils

The Fat Rabbit 2 tank is compatible with the Hellvape P Coils and comes with 2 KA1 coils to get you started.

  • P7-0.1, 0.15Ω, 60-70W (installed)
  • P7-02, 0.2Ω 50-60W

Airflow

Rather like the original, the Fat Rabbit RTA version 2 has two adjustable airflow rings at the top and bottom of the tank. This allows the user to tailor the airflow to suit their personal restricted taste.

510 Base Connection

On the bottom of the base, you will see that Hellvape have printed their logo, the name of the tank along with CE and Recycle icons.

The 510 connection threading has been turned well and while the gold-plated pin is not adjustable it does protrude a little!

On the inside of the cup, it has 3 gold plated projections these are for coil connection.

Looking at the outside of the base it has a bottom adjustable airflow ring, with a patterned knurling to help grip the ring!

Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 Tank Quick Start Guide

  • Choose one of the coils that came with the tank.
  • Unscrew the tank base
  • Prime your coil with a few drops of e-liquid on all visible cotton
  • Push the coil into the tank and replace the tank base
  • Unscrew the top cap and fill the Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 tank with your e-liquid
  • Replace the cap and screw the tank onto a suitable device. Leave the mod and tank alone for around 3 minutes so the coil can soak up more e-liquid – Enjoy!

How Does the Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 Tank Perform?

My own personal preference is to shy away from stock coil tanks, not because they don’t produce enough vapour or aren’t flavourful enough, I prefer to use RDA’s and RTA’s as I find them cheaper in the long run.

It’s simply easier for me to create my own coils and change the cotton every day rather than spend a fortune on stock coil heads!

Today I’m going to use the installed 0.15Ω P coil and my liquid choice this time is Yogi Green Apple, I will also be using this tank on my Hellvape Hell200 for this review.

The Hellvape Fat Rabbit 2 Tank In Use

I have been using the 0.15Ω P coil in the Fat Rabbit 2 tank – the coil is rated at 60 to 70W!

Starting at 30W for a few toots to bed the coil in, I took the wattage to 60W in 0.5W increments. This gave me a more than adequate warm vape.

With this wattage it produced a fairly good flavour and a more than decent vapour production!

The 0.15Ω coil has lasted me 4 days so far with my style of vape. I am now on day 5 and while the vape production is still good I have had to drop back from 60 to 50W as the flavour seemed to dull a bit.

This tells me that in a couple of days I will need to change the stock coil head for a new one!

Airflow

Let’s talk about the airflow… Like the original chubby bunny I found the Fat Rabbit 2 tank airflow a delight to use, I was able to adjust both airflow rings to suit my style.

Whilst not quite as silent of a draw as the original RTA, the Fat Rabbit 2 tank didn’t provoke my ire – there’s nothing worse in my opinion than a noisy airflow or a gurgling tank lol.

The draw I have been getting from this tank is smooth no matter where I set the airflow, although I will admit when turned the airflow right down for a MTL style draw, the draw is a wee bit turbulent!

I have tested the tank on several different devices including my Geekvape L200 Classic, the Aspire Rhea, as well as my Ehpro Cold Steel 100, I even popped it on the OXVA Velocity which was a bit strange as it felt a little too top-heavy to me!

The tank handles chain vaping well but does become a little warm after a while, but being made of stainless steel the tank does cool fairly quickly.

Pros

  • Great quality and design
  • Fairly good flavour
  • Adequate vapour production
  • Delightful airflow control

Cons

I have no concerns with this tank, but if I had to give a negative – the tank does become quite warm while chain vaping!

Final Review Verdict

A good-looking tank that in my opinion fits right in with the Hellvape range of bunnies!

As I said I’m not one for stock coil tanks but I’d highly recommend the Fat Rabbit 2 Tank, as it functions just as they say in the promotional bumph.

This tank was created for those intermediate to experienced vapers, I wouldn’t recommend going straight from a disposable directly to this one!

Truth be told, I didn’t find anything wrong with this tank and I would’ve bought it to use as an out-and-about tank, but having many tanks already I can’t see myself replacing it should the unthinkable happen!

What To Expect From The Hellvape Fusion-R…

So this is typical pod kit territory with two main components – the pod (tank) and device (mod).

hellvape fusion-r components

Looking firstly at the pod – this is refillable with up to 2ml of your own e-liquid via the side fill port.

fusion pod

There are 2 resistances available – the 0.8ohm (included in kit) and 1.2ohm (available separately). Both have mesh coils and the pod is disposed of when the coil performance has deteriorated. Therefore no messy hands trying to change the coils.

The website also mentions it is compatible with the Fusion S – which I assume is a device which will be on the way soon?

fusion-r features

The mod has a 800mAh internal battery which is charged at a 1A rate via the USB Type C port.

fusion-r design

A great addition to this simple kit is an airflow adjustment slider to tailor the airflow to your preference.

A 3 colour LED indicator displays the battery charge remaining and any fault conditions.
