Taking A Closer Look At The new e Juice Range From Halo Vapour Co

The juices are mixed to a ratio of 60 PG 40 VG and 50PG/50VG with the latter being targeted towards the basic starter clearomisers and the former anything upto high end rebuildables.

Obviously the range is huge so we will have a look at a selection of these juices today to see if they can park themselves on our best e-liquid list.

Pineapple – 50-50 VG & PG

They Say:

Sweet and tart, this pineapple juice e-liquid from Halo is rounded, balanced and just perfect for an all day vape! Refreshing and smooth, with a particularly rich taste on the exhale, you’ll surely enjoy this tropical classic from morning to night.

Juicy, fruity and a little bit loopy, Halo Pineapple Juice E-Liquid with have you shakin’ your thang all day long.

I Say:

The smell is sumptuous and took me back to Goa where the Pineapple Lady used to come along every afternoon and skilfully slice ‘n dice a plump fresh pineapple – talk about a thirst quencher.

You do indeed get a zingy citrus inhale whilst the exhale smooths out wonderfully leaving your mouth watering with that taste of exotic fruit.

Think fresh pineapple rather than those horrible tinned ones in syrup – fruit lovers will adore it.

Pear Drops – 50-50 VG and PG

They Say:

Knee deep in nostalgia and perfectly delicious, Halo Pear Drops E-Liquid may be even better than the real thing!

The soft fruity sweetness ‘peared’ with that familiar sherbert tang will keep you going back to till it’s all gone… Just don’t get caught with your hand in the jar!

I Say:

I used to love pear drops however they didn’t love me. I had this love hate relationship with them where after a few sucks I’d have a coughing fit.

Halo has managed to capture both the flavour and indeed smell of this childhood favourite and yeah add to the mix the nic content and boy did I cough until my eyes watered – the things you do for ‘science’ lol.

Not for me but of you love pear drops this is blending perfection

Apple & Apricot

Now there’s a flavour combination you don’t come across every day in e-liquid.

Which is a real shame, as I’m fond of both apples and apricots!

Come to think of it, I’ve never come across an eliquid yet that contains apricot, so this is a first.

And it’s very good indeed, crisp, ripe Apple finished off with a lovely juicy apricot on the exhale, it’s a very sweet and moreish juice!

Vanilla Ice Cream

This to me is a lovely, creamy vanilla bean ice cream flavour, very heavy vanilla bean on the inhale finished off with a smooth creaminess on the exhale, stick a flake in it and you would have yourself a 99!

I must say the vanilla bean is very realistic in this juice, and with vanilla bean being one of my favourite flavourings, this juice absolutely had me coming back for more!

Menthol Blast

If your palate is in need of refreshing, menthol blast will do the job for you.

A very clean and cool, yet strong hit of minty menthol on the inhale that hangs around your taste buds on the exhale, combined with a nice strong throat hit to jolt your senses back into action.

I like my menthol nice and strong, and Menthol Blast was certainly no disappointment. For a more authentic flavour though be sure to check out our best menthol vape juice list.

Classic Virginia

Halo Vapour Co’s take on the classic, American tobacco blend. Strong throat hit combined with a deep, spicy and earthy Virginia tobacco flavour combine for a rich and satisfying tobacco taste.

If you are struggling to kick the cigarettes and looking for an authentic tobacco experience then Classic Virginia does just the job.

Blackjack Twists

It’s just like the famous black jack sweets you used to get as a kid!

A nice and strong aniseed with a sweet candied twist to bring those childhood memories back.

Black Jacks have always been a bit of a ‘marmite’ sweet, people either love or hate them, personally I loved them growing up and this certainly brought back the nostalgia.

A big hit with me!

Fruit Fusion

Fruit Fusion is a lovely, summery fruit salad blend featuring delicious citrus notes on the inhale, that offer your taste buds a delightful sweetness, which is rounded off with a beautifully sweet kiwi fruit taste on the exhale.

I might be wrong, but there seemed to be almost the merest hint of cream holding the flavours together, all in all this blended together for one tasty fruity vape.

Throat Hit

It’s a 60% PG blend and all of these juices had a nice little kick to the back of my throat on the inhale, that was very satisfying.

Vapour Volume

For a blend with slightly higher PG over VG, these liquids do produce a really nice and satisfying amount of vapour.

When vaping these in my Freakshow Mini with a 0.8ohm single coil build at 22w, I got some very nice clouds, and in the Subtank Mini with the 0.5ohm OCC coil head at 27w there was definitely some respectable vapour produced!

Production Details

Ecigarette Direct are members of ECITA, the Electronic Cigarette Industry Trade Association, who organise independent and strict testing of the Halo Vapour Co liquids among others to ensure purity of the juices, and also organise bi-annual audits of the company to ensure the strictest standards are used.

Final Halo Vapour Co Review Verdict

If you are looking for some decent flavours, that work in any atomiser available, good throat hit and good cloud production, as well as being available at a really good price too, then the Halo Vapour Co range is well worth considering.

There’s a massive range to choose from so I’m sure you will find a flavour that suits your palate, even if the ones reviewed above didn’t wet your whistle!

Clean tasting juices, with authentic flavours, that you can be satisfied are nasty free too, I’ve been impressed with the offerings from Halo Vapour Co and these were really tasty juices that worked well in everything from RDA’s to Sub Ohm tanks.

I’m guessing pretty much all of us have at least tried one or two of the company’s flavours and probably owned or at least used one of their cigalikes or vape kits that they produced in the past.

This new set of four flavours comes in 50ml short fill bottles with the option of adding a nicotine shot.

I received these free of charge for the purpose of this review and as always my thoughts and opinions aren’t swayed by freebies.

For the taste test I used the Augvape Templar RDA freshly wicked every time.

Menthol Blend | Halo Vapour Co. Shortfill

Halo Says:

All the hit of our famous Halo Menthol Blast with a slightly lighter and sweeter finish.

I Say:

Regulars know I’m not a huge menthol fan – there’s a few that’s sucked me in but not many.

However…

This is very nice indeed – more of a peppermint than an out ‘n out menthol blast – think polo mint rather than extra strong.

It’s a refreshing inhale with cooling tones that aren’t overpowering whilst that sweet finish combines to make a very clean vape – very pleasant indeed.

Tobacco Gold | Halo Vapour Co. Shortfill

Halo Says:

A super fresh and slightly sweet tobacco rounded off with a subtle hint of citrus fruits.

I Say:

I’m a daily tobacco flavour vaper tending towards un-flavoured ones.

However this is actually a very nice vape indeed.

The inhale brings a tobacco throaty dryness with a hint of sweetness however the exhale is where the magic happens.

Not too sweet and not too sharp citrus notes create a very refreshing moreish flavour indeed.

I haven’t sub ohm’d a tobacco flavour for many years but this one has changed that and the bottle emptied rapidly – great vape!

Cream Custard | Halo Vapour Co. Shortfill

Halo Says:

A seriously indulgent creamy vanilla custard that is instant mouthwatering material.

I Say:

I’m not much of a custard flavoured vaper and sadly this one hasn’t changed my mind.

Cloyingly sweet on the inhale with an overpowering chemical vanilla taste that coats your tongue and tonsils.

The exhale whilst less sweet was a bit of a relief if I’m honest and I was relieved to glug some cold water down to clean the residue from my mouth.

Not sure if regular custard vapers will get more out of it and I certainly wouldn’t call this an all day vape.

Forest Berry | Halo Vapour Co. Shortfill

Halo Says:

A medley of sweet purple berries resulting in a light but incredibly moreish flavour.

I Say:

I’m a massive fan of berry based e-liquid flavours and the smell from this one is not as fruity as I’d like – indeed it was a little perfumy.

Maybe a little sweet on the inhale with a lack of that juicy zing mixed berry flavours usually have and dare I say the merest hint of that chemical perfume taste – just a touch but enough to start me worrying.

On the inhale things freshen up much more and that threat of perfume fades leaving an OK taste – but not one that I’d write home about.

Final Verdict

I guess every-man and his uncle has tried a Halo Vapour Co flavour at some point on their vaping journey I know I have.

And to be honest I’ve never been that blown away with them.

The new short fill collection is pretty run of the mill as flavours go and for me expensive for what they are certainly compared to similar flavours from similar companies.

Look I can only go with my taste buds and for me – apart from the Tobacco Gold and maybe the Menthol Blend – these aren’t cutting it.

I know I’m a fussy old sod but as vapers we’re flooded – literally – with juice brands and a juice really needs to be something very special to float my boat and certainly float to the top of the e-liquid lagoon.

Unfortunately, for me at least, the Halo Vapour Co Short Fill e-liquids are flat flavours that might have made a premium rating a few years ago – but not these days.

Verision 2 of the Tank Kit by Halo – An Improvement on the Original?

The vape pen kit is an update to their original halo tank kit. Nice to see they are keeping the name nice and simple, no confusion there!

While there are a few great vape pen starter kits for new users they fall way behind in terms of numbers when compared to sub ohm devices.

So definitely a good thing to see a new kit come to market for UK vapers.

So.. Lets see how the Halo Tank 02 kit performs…

As always my opinions are honest and my own.

What’s In The Box

The Halo e cigarette comes in standard but tidy and nicely designed sleeve that contains the following:

• Halo Tank 02 vape pen (battery)
• Halo 02 tank
• 1 X 1.0 Ohm coil (installed in tank)
• Tank 02 User Manual
• 1 x Bottle of Halo E-Liquid
• 1 x Micro usb charger cable

Features

• Compatible with 3 Coils (1.0Ohm MTL / 1.0Oh DTL / 0.5Ohm DTL) for different performance levels
• Single button operation
• Auto adjusts the power for different coils
• Vape while you charge
• 1.8 ml Tank capacity

Build Quality & Design

First impressions are great straight out of the box. The Halo battery and tank look and feel superb. The matte black rubberised finish is a big plus for me, in the hand it feels great.

Ever picked something up that you just like to handle because of the texture? It has that effect on me, I’ve rarely put it down in between vapes!

Anyway..

Apart from the finish the battery is super simple. It features tasteful branding to the side and base. A micro USB for charging at the bottom of the battery, meaning you can keep your e cig upright when on charge as well as vape while charging without the cable being too bothersome.

The fire button is also well designed with the same rubberised finish and slight oversizing making it comfortable for a thumb press. The ‘click’ of the button, while subtle, also has that satisfying sound.

On either side of the fire button are two opaque strips. These are the battery light indicators. More on which we will cover below.

Lastly, on top of the device we have the 510 threaded connection. The threads are smooth for connection to the tank.

Halo 02 Tank

The bottom fill tank, again, has been designed well matching the battery to a tee.

The clear windows are a feature here that allows you to easily see how much e-liquid you have remaining.

The base of the tank has a dual cyclops airflow that while firm, is easy to adjust. The top of the tank houses the removable drip tip/mouth piece.

Coils

The coils I received for review were the 0.5 Ohm DTL and the 1.0Ohm MTL coil. There is also a 1.0Ohm DTL coil.

The kit to buy on the Ecigarette Direct website only includes one coil, the 1.0Ohm MTL.

This is the only downside for me, I always like to see at least 2 coils included, in this case the inclusion of a 0.5Ohm coil as a spare would be great to give a sub ohm taster to new vapers.

That aside, the Halo Tank 02 kit is a simple setup that oozes quality.

Halo Tank 02 Kit Quick Start User Guide

If you are new to e cigs or have limited experience with this type of device I highly recommend taking 5 minutes to get to know your setup before filling with your choice of e-liquid.

Simply take everything apart and put it back together a couple of times. Have a look at where the e-liquid goes (see below) and generally just get comfortable with the ‘mechanics’ of the tank. Once happy then you can fill up and get ready to vape!

How To Fill The Halo Tank 02

• Can be done with tank on mod but recommended to remove first
• Unscrew top section from the base of the tank
• Ensure coil is firmly in place but don’t over-tighten
• Turn top section of tank upside down
• Drip/squeeze juice onto the inside wall of the tank avoiding center hole
• Don’t fill past the top of the center tube.
• Look through the window to see the e-liquid level
• With tank still upside down, screw the base back on
• Leave for 10-15 minutes to allow the juice to soak into the coils
• Screw the tank onto the battery
• Close the airflow and take a couple of ‘dry draws’. Don’t press the fire button! This is to help the e-liquid draw itself through the cotton
• Open the airflow back up and vape away

All very simple. Just remember, you must allow time for the e-liquid to saturate the cotton in the coils. Failure to do this could result in burning the cotton.

Battery Operation

• 5 quick clicks in succession of the fire button to turn on and off
• Green light indicates full charge
• Blue light = 50% charge
• Red light = Low charge

How Does The Halo Tank 02 Kit Perform?

As touched on this e cig has been designed for a hands off vape experience. No changing wattage or any user changes needed.

Simply press the button to vape and depending on what coil you are using the battery will self adjust the power output ensuring it delivers the correct power to the coil.

The only real thing you need to decide on is what coil you want to use (If you have different coils of course).

Flavour & Cloud Production

1.0 Ohm MTL (Mouth to Lung) Coil

The 1.0ohm MTL coil and the holes that the e-liquid feeds through are small. This means that this particular coil will be best suited to a 50/50 or 40/60 PG/VG e-liquid and a mouth to lung vaping style. Similar to how most would smoke a cigarette.

Although, I have also used 70PG and while it still worked OK the flavour was lacking. I actually expected this with a higher VG juice though so no real surprise. I’d recommend a max 60% VG for this coil

The 50VG/50PG Black Note tobacco e-juice I was using provided very good flavour and closing up the airflow half way also helped to give that little bit tighter draw.

Overall, no complaints whatsoever.

0.5 Ohm DTL (Direct to Lung) Coil

This coil offers something that little bit different than the above in that it is a sub ohm coil and can be used for direct to lung style vaping.

I popped in a flavour I have actually been using in my Aspire Cleito Pro, Vaporfi Bites Vanilla Caramel. This is a 70VG/30PG juice.

The Halo coil surprised the hell out of me and really made the device. The flavour was spot on. A little cooler than what I know from using the Cleito but the caramel in the juice came through really well and tasted delicious! Bang on flavour for such a small coil.

I also topped up with Mangabeys by Twelve Monkeys, which is an 80VG / 20PG e-liquid, and again, very good results although not quite on par with the 70% VG juice.

The coil also had no issues keeping up with 4 or 5 drags on the run either so more positives there.

This coil does go through e-liquid a little quicker than the 1.0Ohm but that’s just the nature of the beast when sub ohm vaping and something you should expect if trying this coil.

The base of the tank can get a little hot when chain vaping but this isn’t anything to worry about. A little break and it’s good to go again.

This coil is actually a great way to try sub ohm vaping. You can just about take a mouth to lung hit but it comes into it’s own when direct to lung inhaling.

Vapour volume on both was also very good with the 0.5Ohm coil for a tank this size.

Battery Life

The battery has a 900 mAh capacity which isn’t the biggest but still respectable. With the 1.0Ohm coil I was getting pretty much a full day moderate vaping. The 0.5Ohm coil drains the battery quicker giving me around 4-5 hours before a recharge is needed.

Charging onlt takes around 1.5 hours but you can vape this whilst charging which is always a good thing.

I would suggest, however, that once you are happy with the kit that you but a spare battery as a back up and to use in rotation. At the time of writing these were £11.99 which is good value.

What I Like

For a vape pen style e cig the look and feel is great. The Halo Tank 02 looks classy, without being over the top on the design front. In the hand, the black device with it’s rubberised finish is a pleasure to hold.

While the MTL vape is good it was the flavour from the 0.5ohm coil that impressed. It could handle the 80VG juice I tried as well with no dry hits but it was the 70VG that scored top marks. Add no leaking to this as well.

Most of all this is just a plug and play simple e cig to use and a great introduction for new vapers or the more experienced that just want a portable vape that does what it’s supposed to do.

What I Dislike

There really isn’t a lot to dislike. The only thing would be that there is only one coil head in the starter kit.

Final Review Verdict

The Halo Tank 02 kit is a cracking little vape pen. Not only does it look great but it performs as you would expect although I did find the 0.5Ohm DTL coil delivered that little bit extra.

For new users or vapers looking for a little reliable device you can chuck in your pocket then this is very good choice.

Would I buy the Halo Tank 02 kit again if I lost or damaged it? Yup.. I definitely would.

Pros:

• Very good build quality and feel in the hand (black version)
• New user friendly
• Good for both mouth to lung and direct to lung (coil dependant)
• Excellent flavour on the 0.5Ohm coil
• Can be used with a variety of PG/VG ratio’s (Again, coil dependent)
• Kit comes with everything you need to get started. E-liquid of your choice included.
• I experienced no leaking
• Chance to try sub ohm vaping without changing tank

Cons:

• Just the one coil in the kit
