More Details On The Freemax Galex Nano 2…

The Galex Nano 2 is designed to be compatible with the rest of the range including the Galex, Galex Pro, Galex V2 and Galex Nano.

galex nano 2 compatibility

That compatibility means this kit can use the original Galex pod with replaceable coils or the new fixed coil Galex V2 pods.

In fact with this kit you get the best of both worlds as you get the fixed coil 0.6ohm V2 pod and the replaceable coil pod with the GX-P 0.8ohm Mesh coil included in the box.

galex nano 2 pod options

Available separately are 0.8ohm and 1ohm Galex V2 pods and the GX-P 1ohm mesh coil.

galex v2 pod options

The V2 pod will hold up to 3ml of your own e-liquid via the side fill port. In TPD regulated areas this is reduced to 2ml.

The removable coil Galex Pod has a removable mouthpiece (which is child resistant) to access the fill port.

Looking now at the device, this has an internal 900mAh battery which is charged via the USB Type C port in around 1 hour.

The output is adjustable from 5-25W using the multi-function button. You can lock this button and it is also used for turning the device on and off.

Your vaping data is displayed on the 0.42 inch screen.

The multi-function button can also be a fire button when unlocked, or you can lock it to use the auto draw (inhale activated) fire function.

An airflow slider is provided on the top of the device to adjust the incoming airflow to your preference.

It is the newest version of the excellent M Pro / Mesh Pro and M Pro 2 sub ohm tanks.

maxus 3 tank

This is compatible with previous Mesh Pro / M Pro coils plus the new coils included in the kit: M1-D dual mesh 0.15ohm and M2 904L 0.2ohm.

More Details On The Freemax Galex V2…

Not only has the outside appearance had an upgrade from the original Galex, there are some tech upgrades too!

galex family range
Left to Right = Original Galex, Galex Nano, Galex Pro and Galex V2

For a start the output has changed, it is now specified as 15.3W (3.5V) maximum. The original was stated to be 11-16W.

galex v2 features

The biggest change comes with the pods.

The original pods had a removable mouthpiece to access the top fill port, but the V2 has a side filling design.

freemax galex v2 side fill

Also the V2 pods have fixed coils, whereas on the original you had to replace the coil. Fixed coils are much simpler for those who don’t want the mess or faff of changing coils.

freemax galex v2 pods

They still come in the 0.8ohm and 1ohm variants and you get both included in the kit.

The pods are also compatible with the rest of the Galex devices and likewise the original pods are compatible with the V2.

As you can see the new design is sleeker and is mainly Aluminium Alloy and contains the same 800mAh battery.

Here is an introduction video from the Freemaxvape YouTube Channel.

There are 5 colours to choose from: Gunmetal, Golden, Cyan, Blue and Pink.

Hands up! I’m a bit late to the party when it comes to the Freemax Marvos 80W pod kit.

Freemax Marvos 80W pod kit hand check imageThis is the 4th version in the popular series and has been superseded by the award winning Marvos X 100W kit and the Marvos X Pro 100W.

..Just goes to show that Freemax haven’t been resting on their vape Laurels, doesn’t it.

Freemax have been manufacturing mid to high end vaping products for a decade now. From the word go they’ve been consistently enhancing the vape experience with innovation as the main focus.

Their brand mission is to continue to be the most reliable manufacturer for quality flavour replication. To remain pioneers in the industry and the number one choice for consumers.

Freemax LogoWhen Freemax released the Fireluke M in 2017 it was the first time anyone had vaped mesh in a sub ohm tank. It featured the now infamous FM Mesh CoilTech complete with tea fibre cotton.

I’ve been a bit of a fan boy ever since!

The Freemax Marvos 80W kit features version 4 of said Coiltech so let’s take a look at how it performs and everything else the pod kit has to offer.

What Can We Expect From the Freemax Marvos 80W Pod Kit?

The Freemax MS platform ensures all coils within the Marvos range are compatible.

This also includes the latest MS-D mesh coils and FM CoilTech 5.0

Freemax MS platform and coils

What sets FM CoilTech apart from other coils is the way airflow has been carefully calculated to optimise flavour and vapour production.

Freemax do this by testing various mesh coil resistances and wattage outputs so that taste is purer, cleaner and more flavoursome.

The tea fibre cotton has excellent antibacterial properties and prevents flavour degradation over time.

Patented structure of the Freemax Marvos mesh coilsThe military grade stainless steel SS904L mesh is also corrosive resistant and has a honeycomb structure to boost flavour, faster and more efficiently.

All the pods in the Marvos range are interchangeable. In some instances by way of a 510 adaptor. There’s also a separate RTA pod.

freemax ms pod platform

CRC (Child Resistant Cap) versions are also available.

The mouthpiece includes a patented anti spit back design. So no matter how feisty the coil, it won’t leave hot E-liquid on the tongue.

Freemax Marvos Pod compatibility

The Freemax Marvos 80 is designed for use as a DTL (Direct To Lung) or semi Restrictive Direct to Lung (RDL) vape. We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.

This is made possible by a significantly wide adjustable airflow slider on the side of the device. It’s designed to enable accurate and smoother adjustment.

Freemax Marvos 80W adjustable airflow

As the name suggests, the device is capable of churning out anything up to 80W of power. To do this it relies on a single 18650 external battery (not included).

There are three modes to choose from: Power (Variable Wattage), Smart or Bypass. The screen colour can be changed to reflect your current mood.

marvos 80W screen

Fast 2A charging is incorporated but as always, I highly recommend using a dedicated external battery charger.

The Freemax Marvos 80W kit is available with a 2ml TPD compliant pod and as a 4.5ml capacity pod for those outside of the EU.

Pick it up in five metallic colour schemes. Choose from Copper (under review), White, Blue, Black or Gunmetal.

Freemax Marvos 80W Pod Kit Design and Build Quality

My first impression is at how tall the device is. At the same time it’s relatively slim which means it’ll fit OK in a trouser pocket.

Marvos 80W Mod

I’m really digging the Bronze version complete with all its pseudo patination. It gives the Mod a worn appearance and even the ‘Marvos’ branding looks faded – straight out of the box.

The etched “V” patterns at the top and bottom aren’t really a necessity and the micro dots in-between may be prone to gathering dirt and grease.

Etchings on side of the Freemax Marvos 80 ModThe adjustable airflow switch sits directly beneath the pod housing and feels extremely loose. That’s before contact with any E-liquid.

So if you do plan to stick the Marvos 80 in a pocket, chances are the airflow will have altered by the time you’re ready for another vape.

Airflow slider on the Freemax Marvos 80W pod kitI’m not the biggest fan of the design – I’m always reminded of a panel pin for some reason.

The fire button definitely feels sticky. So much so that an audible squeak can be heard when using. No such issue exists with the rocker switch.

The front panel is composed of a shiny gloss Black plastic and prone to finger prints from the get go but the 0.96in TFT colour screen is quite bright and clear.

A type C USB charging port is sensibly placed at the bottom and recessed to prevent accidental damage.

The Freemax Marvos 80W kit relies on an 18650 battery and it’s fitted by opening the hinged door on the base of the Mod.

Battery door open on the Freemax Marvos 80W mod sectionSimply slide the door forwards to release it. There doesn’t appear to be any spring load mechanism but the door itself feels sturdy enough and doesn’t rattle around.

Marvos DTL Pod

The pod is made from the usual tough PCTG material and fully transparent.

It incorporates a moulded mouthpiece with an opening of 10mm. Additional proof that the device is set up for a direct lung vape.

Peering down inside the mouthpiece I can see exactly what Freemax mean by their anti spit back tech.

Anti spit back tech on the mouthpiece of the Freemax marvos DTL podA series of grooves are cut into the lining to trap any rogue E-liquid droplets before reaching the mouth.

Four small magnets are press fitted into the underside of the pod. Although providing a firm connection with the Mod, it’s easily separated when dropped from standing height.

But the magnets do allow the pod to spin freely inside the mod using its own magnetic ring, so there’s no wrong way of attaching it.

Magnetic contacts and fill port on Freemax Marvos DTL pod

The Marvos DTL pod uses a bottom fill system. There’s an arrow on the silicone stopper to show how and where to open it.

Quick Start Guide

How To Install The 18650 Battery

  • Push the battery door forwards at the point of the arrow to release and lift
  • Insert the 18650 battery with positive (+) end facing downwards into the Mod
  • Close the battery door by sliding it back into position

How to install a battery on the Freemax Marvos 80W ModThe device will automatically switch on.

Note: Always make sure your battery is in good condition.

Remember to periodically check for signs of damage or tears in the battery wrap. If the battery shows signs of damage, replace it immediately.

If the wrap is torn, you may be able to replace it with a new one.

We tell you more in our Guide To Battery Safety.

How To Install The Coil

  • Pull the Marvos DTL pod out of the battery section
  • How to fit the coil in the Freemax Marvos DTL podPush the coil up inside the pod chamber as shown in the diagram

Remember to push the coil in as far as possible. This will ensure the O rings are providing an adequate seal.

How To Fill The Pod

With the coil installed, locate the fill port seal on the base of the pod

  • Lift the silicone stopper at the point of the arrow marking and pull to one side
  • Push the E-liquid bottle nozzle into the fill port opening
  • Gently squeeze E-liquid into the fill chamber. Avoid overfilling
  • How to fill the Freemax Marvos DTL podReplace the silicone stopper ensuring a firm seal
  • Drop the pod back into the battery/Mod section

Let the E-liquid soak into the cotton for around five minutes before vaping.

How To Operate The Freemax Marvos 80W Pod Kit

  • Press the fire button 5 times to turn the device on or off
  • Use the menu rocker buttons to increase/decrease wattage
  • Press the fire button 3 times to select Smart, Power or Bypass mode
  • Hold both menu rocker buttons to lock/unlock the device
  • Hold the left rocker and fire button together to cycle through the five colour schemes
  • Hold the right rocker and fire button together to reset the puff counter
  • Hold the fire and both menu rocker buttons to restore device factory settings

NB: It’s still possible to vape while the device is locked.

Smart mode automatically detects the best power setting for the installed coil. You will not be able to vape outside of the coils maximum wattage range.

In power mode the user defines power settings for the coils, between 5 – 80W.

The Freemax Marvos 80W pod kit in Power mode.
The Freemax Marvos 80W pod kit in Power mode.

In Bypass mode the device runs directly off the battery. Power is displayed in voltage.

Please note that when in Bypass mode the menu rocker buttons are disabled.

In the event of malfunction the screen will respond to over vaping, no atomiser, high temperature, low voltage, low resistance and low battery.

How Does The Freemax Marvos 80W Pod Kit Perform?

I began by testing the included 0.25ohm MS mesh coil.

It has a power rating of between 40-60W with a recommended setting of 50W. That’s exactly what Smart mode suggested so I ran with that.

IVG’s Apple Berry Crumble, a 70VG/30PG E-liquid ratio was used with 3mg freebase nicotine applied.

Freemax MS 0.25ohm Mesh Coil

Freemax MS 0.25ohm mesh PNP coilEven with airflow wide open the flavour is insane!

Apple and Berry combine, blasting out of the exhale and even subtle traces of baked pie crust are included.

However, at 50W there’s next to nothing in the way of warmth and that does take away some of the magic of this dessert profile.

Power to the coil feels instantaneous and the inhale is silky smooth with little in the way of turbulence.

It’s quite understandable for the vape to be relatively loud on this airflow setting but that’s still something to be aware of.

Definitely a direct lung vape with say, maybe around 10% airflow restriction at the max.

Other Airflow Restrictions

Adjusting airflow to around mid position (50%) and I don’t get the restriction I’m looking for.

I’d hazard a guess at a further 5-10% over wide open, which really isn’t enough to be effective.

There may be a slight increase to the warmth and concentration of flavour but nothing much to write home about.

As before, vapour production is immensely impressive. Even with my aging lungs it travels a good 3 – 4ft across the room before tumbling and dissipating.

It’s when the airflow is closed off to around 80% that a semi restrictive lung vape becomes an option.

Yet it doesn’t seem to have much effect on flavour quality. Having said that there’s now more warmth generated so that does add an extra dimension to this classic E-liquid recipe.

I favour this level of restriction the most. Simply because it’s my preferred style of vaping.

Freemax MS 0.15ohm Mesh Coil

I opted to try out bypass mode while testing this coil. So although best suited to 70W, I went in at the top end of the wattage scale.

Digbys Inca was used. It’s a Tobacco flavour with a 70VG/30PG E-liquid ratio containing 3mg freebase nicotine.

Freemax MS mesh 0.15ohm plug and play coilAs previously mentioned, power is pulled directly from the battery while in bypass mode. It relies entirely on the fire button since the menu rocker is disabled.

Usually a fully charged 18650 battery will pull between 4 – 4.1V but the Freemax Marvos maxes out at 3.4V. So that’s more in line with its maximum wattage output of 80W.

It’s true what I’ve heard about bypass mode. You really cannot beat those first half a dozen pulls for power. More importantly, and in this case, that power is both instantaneous, pushing out flavour by the vape load.

I got a very strong, warm and punchy vape. The nutty, caramel tones of the profile mixing perfectly with the blended Tobacco.

The vapour production was great and on par with the 0.25ohm mesh coil.

Airflow properties were also on par with the 0.25ohm coil. Again, it needed to be restricted by around 80% to be classed as a semi restrictive vape.

I felt that was the optimal setting for flavour and vapour production too.

Overall Battery Performance

Smart mode gave me 6.5 hours use from the 18650 battery. During this time, flavour and vapour production held up well. The puff counter read 175 when the battery gave up and I’d vaped around 12ml of E-liquid.

I got the same number of hours when using bypass mode. What I will say is that I felt the vape to be slightly more consistent across overall life span of the battery.

By the time it needed charging, voltage had dropped to 2.75V. The chip was still pulling 52W of power – a drop of 28W but negligible in terms of overall performance.

The puff counter was reading 162 and I’d vaped around the same volume of E-liquid as when using Smart mode.

Pros

  • Excellent flavour and vapour production from both coils
  • Masses of airflow for a direct lung/semi direct lung vape
  • Ergonomic and comfortable in the hand
  • Sturdy battery door

Cons

  • The fire button is a bit sticky
  • Display isn’t great in direct sunlight
  • Gloss Black plastic front panel prone to scratching easily
  • Airflow adjustment not as versatile as it could be
  • Both coils do leak at the base
  • 2ml TPD pod guzzles the juice (subjective)

Final Review Verdict

The Freemax Marvos 80W pod kit performs very well. Both coils deliver excellent flavour properties and vapour production is pretty sweet too.

Those Freemax MS mesh coils crave power and airflow. Of particular note is how well they retain awesome flavour regardless of airflow setting.

Tea Fibre cotton, you see. Has me every time!

I usually have to supress airflow a fair bit to get the flavour I’m looking for.

That’s not the case here.

Yes, the coils are juice guzzlers and the pod was frequently refilled. That’s always going to happen when power meets pod capacity.

The Freemax Marvos 80W pod kit isn’t particularly heavy and feels comfortable in the hand despite its height. The fire button is sensibly placed for thumb firing.

Menu functionality has been kept simple and is easy to use. Switching from mode to mode is as easy as it gets. I love how Smart mode works to preserve the lifespan of those two amazing mesh coils.

So, yeah – overall I’d say Freemax ain’t meshing around when it comes to the Marvos 80W pod kit.

A solid and reliable device.

The other Galex kits were more of a starter kit whereas the Galex Pro is a step up. There are a lot more features to play with in this version!

Looking first at the basics, this has a 800mAh battery which is charged via the USB Type C port. The charge rate has not been specified however a graphic shows it should only take 40 minutes.

galex pro charging

The output is stated as 5-25W and it appears to have Variable Wattage output adjustment too.

galex pro output

You can view all of your vaping data on the 0.69in screen which also displays puff counter, battery charge and of course your power output.

galex pro screen

There is a choice of either using the fire button or auto draw firing when vaping, plus you can lock the fire button if required.

galex pro activation

Another funky feature is the blingy “full spectrum” lighting effects. Choose from a Breathing (pulsing) light pattern, Spectrum Cycling (cycles through the different colours) or simply turn it off completely.

galex pro lighting

When it comes to the pod this has removable coils and top fill leak resistant and child resistant system.

galex pro pod

This appears to be compatible with the new GX-P coils and the GX coils used in the other Galex kits.

galex pro gx-p

galex pro gx coil

Anyway there are 2 GX-P coils included in the kit, the 0.8ohm and 1ohm. Both are mesh with “FM SaltCoilTech 4.0” which basically means SS904L (Stainless Steel) mesh, 50% more Tea Fibre wicking and apparently a longer coil life.

galex pro fm 4

I have not seen any mention of airflow adjustment so this must be a fixed airflow?

Here is a brief introduction video from the Freemaxvape YouTube channel.

There are 5 colours to choose from: Black, Gunmetal, Blue, Cyan Purple and Pink Gold.

Freemax have made a great name for themselves for simply kicking out the flavour! I was a huge fan of the Fireluke and Mesh Pro tanks!

What Is New On The Freemax Starlux 40 Kit?

This is called an AIO but to me it does fit into the Pod Mod category – with a removable pod (tank) and a mod (battery/control) component.

starlux 40 features

As with most of the new additions from Freemax this features “Full Spectrum Vaping” which basically means the LED lighting effects.

starlux lighting

You can choose between the LEDs off, multicolour or unicolour.

Plus you get a set of 3 LED’s which display the battery charge remaining and device status.

starlux battery

Inside the mod is a 1400mAh battery which is charged via the USB Type C port but the charge rate / charging time is not specified.

The device will select the output according to the coil resistance installed, for instance…

  • 0.2-0.45ohm = 3.2V
  • 0.46-0.94ohm = 3.6V
  • Greater than 0.95ohm = 4V

starlux output

On the side of the mod is an airflow adjustment switch to tailor the vape to your preference.

starlux airflow

You can either press the fire button or use the auto draw system to fire the vape.

starlux activation

Looking at the pod now – in standard format this will hold up to 4ml of your own e-liquid. Sadly for us poor buggers in TPD regulated areas this capacity is reduced to 2ml.

Filling is made easy by a child resistant slide top fill arrangement.

starlux filling

Also the 510 drip tip is replaceable – ideal if you lose the original or prefer a different type.

starlux drip tip

The coils are replaceable and a new range of coils have been designed for this kit.

They are the ST Mesh range in 0.5ohm and 0.35ohm variants – you get both included in the kit.

starlux coils

Freemax say that the coils are leak resistant by design.

Today I’m taking a look at the new full spectrum Freemax Galex Pod Kit, inspired by the vast galaxy!

Freemax Galex header article

An ideal kit for those that want a modern smaller device that creates a discreet amount of vapour but still produces a great flavour and has a light show to rival larger devices!

Freemax Galex blue lights

Established in 2013 in Shenzhen China, Freemax has bought us many quality devices such as the Galex Range, Twister Range, the Maxus Range and the Marvos Range, Freemax is also known for their Fireluke range of tanks.

Worldwide Shipping – Use Code ECC For 10% Off!

What Can We Expect From the Freemax Galex Pod Kit?

Slightly simplified in function to its sibling the Freemax Galex Nano, the Galex pod kit is an auto vape pen-style kit that fits well in the palm.

Freemax Galex edges

It is powered by an 800mAh battery and it’s been optimised to last longer on a single charge.

Freemax Galex battery mah

It will deliver up to 16W of power. The added multicolour and unicolour lighting options bring a modern feel to the classic pod device.

Freemax Galex colourful lights

The pod is child-resistant and leak-free and the replaceable GX coils are cross-compatible with all Galex products!

Freemax Galex empty gx pod

The kit is available in 5 great colours: Gunmetal, Blue, Cyan Purple, Pink Gold and Black.

Freemax Galex available colours

This sample kit was sent to me directly by Freemax for review.

As always my thoughts and views are my own after a considerable testing period!

In The Box

  • GX 2ml Pod
  • GX Mesh coil 0.8Ω
  • 1Ω GX Mesh coil (installed)
  • USB Type C cable
  • *User manual

Design and Build Quality

I was sent a sample of this kit in Black for this review, the kit comes in a card box with paper over sleeve.

Freemax Galex just opened box

While this sample kit didn’t include a *user manual, it does come with a spare coil and a Type C charge cable.

Freemax Galex usb and coil

Like the Galex Nano, this device is auto-draw and there are no buttons to push.

The device has a height of 107mm tall with the pod installed and is just 23mm wide. The Galex weighs in at 48g, and is constructed from durable Zinc Alloy.

Freemax Galex Pod Kit From the top

The pod bay contains 2 spring-loaded gold contact points as well as 2 strong magnets that match up to those on the pod for a secure hold.

Freemax Galex bay pod

Freemax Galex Body

The body of the device has been chamfered and rounded for a comfortable hold!

On both sides of the device just below the pod bay, you will see tiny holes for airflow, giving the Galex slightly more airflow than the Galex Nano!

Freemax Galex airflow holes

Like the Nano version this device has a screen that is for displaying the light show – either unicolour or multicolour.

Freemax Galex yellow red lights

Below the screen is a single LED light which provides visual battery condition.

Freemax Galex visual batter indication

For advertising, you will see printed on the screen “Galex” and the back at the bottom is printed very faintly “Freemax.

Freemax Galex Charging

The device comes equipped with a Type C charge port on the bottom of the mod, where you will also see the normal safety marks.

Freemax Galex bottom of device

Freemax GX Pod (Child resistant) Pod

Rated ISO 8317 child resistant, this pod has a 2ml capacity and is also compatible with the Galex Nano!

Freemax Galex pod

These pods in my experience don’t leak, due to the structure of the GX coils and a cotton pad installed in the base of the pod. The pod has 2 small air valves on the base.

Constructed from clear plastic, which makes it easy to see when you need to top up your e-liquid, this pod has a top fill port and is covered by a black plastic cap/mouthpiece.

Freemax Galex pod parts

The two push-fit coils included with the kit are both FM SaltCoilTech 4.0 technology – SS904L mesh GX coils.

  • GX 0.8Ω mesh coil – restricted direct-to-lung vaping
  • GX 1.0Ω mesh coil – mouth-to-lung vaping and already installed

Freemax say these coils a good for 10 refills each!

galex coils

The FM Maze structure of the coil extends the path of the liquid and the added cotton pad in the base of the pod effectively renders it leak-free!

Freemax Galex Maze chimney

The mod has good manufacturing and design quality with a simplistic pen design. The pod cap I feel could use some work – more about this later.

Quick Start Guide

Freemax GX Pod

  • Prime your coil, this done by adding a few drops of liquid onto all exposed cottonFreemax Galex prep coil
  • Push the coil into the GX Pod
  • Remove the black plastic cap/mouthpiece and fill the pod with e-liquidFreemax Galex filling pod
  • Replace the cap and leave the device and pod alone for around 3 minutes before vaping for the 1st time

This is suggested so the cotton in the coil can soak up more liquid.

Freemax Galex Device

  • Ensure the Galex is fully charged before first use!Freemax Galex on charge

You can charge the device by plugging the cable into the type C port and a PC USB port or by using a dedicated wall plug.

Galex Nano Operation

This is a simple device to operate, it takes a bit of practice to change the light modes, which honestly confused the heck out of me to start with LOL

Freemax Galex use ready

To change the different colour modes, plug in and remove the pod twice within 3s

  • Unicolour
  • Multicolour lights
  • Turn off lightsFreemax Galex colourful lights

Visual Battery Information

To see the charge status of your battery while in use check out the single LED it will illuminate

  • Green 100-70% charge remaining
  • Blue 70-35%
  • Red 35-0%Freemax Galex battery mah

I was unable to find any safety features for this device on the Freemax website! However, the output wattage for this device is between 11 and 16W depending on the battery state.

So How Does the Freemax Galex Pod Kit Perform?

Today I will be using the 0.8Ω coil for RDL and filling the pod with 18mg freebase liquid, 50/50 Liberty Flights “British Tobacco”.

Freemax Galex liquid1

While the FM SaltCoilTech 4.0 GX coils are good to go with Nic Salt Liquids, I won’t use them as they cause me to suffer from dehydration and sleep deprivation!

Freemax Galex Pod Kit – In Use

As I have said in the past – to me devices with lights are tacky and a waste of battery power and I tend to turn lights off at the first opportunity LOL!

However, in my testing of the Galex Pod Kit I did not feel any power drop with the lights on as opposed to turning the lights completely off.

Freemax Galex lights multicolour

The GX Pod!

In the time I have been testing the Galex, I haven’t had any leaking not even any condensation residue in the pod bay.

Earlier in this review, I said the pod cap needed more work, I am concerned about the black plastic cap! It is extremely hard to remove from the pod.

Freemax Galex snap cap

And is very smooth and shiny, so pulling it off is not an option for me as I suffer from arthritis in my hands and fingers, even trying to get a nail under the pod resulted in my hands cramping up!

I did manage to remove the cap however, I did this by placing the pod into the Galex device and pushing on the mouthpiece until the cap snapped off!

While this method works fine, I am worried by this as I can see that maybe in time the plastic may crack due to its thinness!

In my opinion; a simple nail notch on the cap base would have worked better.

Removing the pod and replacing it twice within 3s to change the light modes, for me was a different and a strange exercise that took a while to master!

Freemax Galex green lights

Freemax Galex Pod Kit – Vaping

I think you all know I’m not much of a mouth-to-lung user and even less of an auto-draw enthusiast!

I have been using the 0.8Ω coil for a restricted direct-to-lung style.

With this coil I did enjoy using the kit, maybe a little more so than I did the Nano version.

The device is very comfortable to hold and use.

As for the coil life – In the 2 weeks I have been testing this kit the 0.8Ω coil, has lasted well. Only now as I write this I am experiencing a slight flavour drop-off, however I have been receiving a good flavour with decent vapour production!

Freemax Galex toot rdl

While the battery capacity (800mah) is quite small, I have been quite impressed with the longevity of the battery on average (RDL) it has lasted me 4 hours of regular use!

Freemax Galex liquid 2

Pros

Mod

  • Good Quality
  • Excellent Design
  • Good battery life (RDL)
  • LED Multilight modes

GX Pod

  • Acceptable vapour and flavour production
  • Good quality
  • Great coil life (0.8Ω)

Cons

  • The Pod fill cap/mouthpiece
  • Fiddly way to change the light modes

Final Review Verdict

The Led lights add a modern feel to a conventional pod kit, while it’s a bit fiddly to change the light modes its great fun to play with!

No buttons to push and no menus to navigate make this great little pod kit a suitable replacement for disposable devices.

Would I recommend the Freemax Galex Pod Kit?

This kit is perfect for all levels of vapers, either as a main or secondary device so “Yes” I’d recommend it!

Would I buy this device again due to loss or damage?

While this kit does everything it says on the box, I can’t see myself replacing it as I have many similar devices, albeit without lights!

This is an auto draw device – meaning you suck for your vapour.

I was unable to find any safety information on the Freemax website!

How Does the Freemax Galex Nano Pod Kit Perform?

For this example I will be using the 1.0Ω coil within the Pod and filling it with Liberty Flights, 18mg freebase liquid, 50/50 “British Tobacco”.

While the FM SaltCoilTech 4.0 coils are good to go with Nic Salt Liquids, I try to avoid them as I personally suffer from dehydration and sleep deprivation while using Nic Salts!

Freemax Galex Nano – In Use

I have said in the past – I think that devices with lights are tacky and a waste of battery power and that I tend to turn LEDs off at the first opportunity LOL!

However with the Galex Nano I have not seen any appreciable drop in power as opposed to turning the lights completely off!

Let’s talk about the GX Pod!

In the time I have been testing this device I have experienced no leaking, apart from a little condensation residue in the pod bay, which is normal!

Earlier in the review, I said the GX Pod needs more work, this is concerning the black plastic cap!

It is extremely hard to remove from the pod device as I suffer from arthritis in my hands and fingers.

The pod cap/mouthpiece is very smooth so pulling it off is not an option for me, even trying to get a nail under the pod resulted in my fingers cramping up!

As you can see, I did manage to remove the cap, by placing the pod in the device and pushing it so the cap snapped off!

I am slightly worried by this as I can see the plastic cap might at some point crack due to the thinness of the plastic!

A simple nail notch or projection on the cap would have saved worry.

Freemax Galex Nano – Voltage and Draw

I have been using the Blue 3.5V setting with the 1.0Ω coil in place, this has given me a smooth flavourful MTL vaping experience with acceptable vapour production.

I know – I’m not much of a mouth-to-lung vaper but while the draw is on the tighter side I have felt very comfortable using this kit!

Battery life

I have been impressed with the longevity of the internal battery, while quite small (800mAh) it has lasted me on average 6 hours.

I am entering my 2nd week with this coil, only now am I starting to experience a slight drop of flavour.

The pod holds 2ml of e-liquid, as a mouth-to-lung vape I can live with this, although a bigger liquid capacity would have been nice for restricted direct-to-lung.

Charging is a little longer than I expected for such a small battery just under 50 minutes via my PC’s USB 2 port.

Pros

Galex Nano device

  • Great Quality
  • Good Design
  • Good battery life (MTL)
  • LED lights

GX Pod

  • Good flavour
  • Acceptable vapour production
  • Good quality
  • Great coil life (1.0Ω)

Cons

I have no concerns with the Galex Nano Device itself but with the pod…

  • Hard to remove pod cap

Final Review Verdict

This is a fun little kit to own, and putting it up alongside the other light-up devices I own by Freemax I have my own mini disco-tec LOL.

The only thing that put a slight dampener on my enthusiasm was the pod cap! Seriously being the idiot I am it took me quite a while to figure out how to snap the cap off without giving myself hand cramps LOL.

Would I recommend the Freemax Galex Nano Pod Kit?

This is a great fun kit, perfect for all levels of vapers, so “Yes” I’d recommend it, but I’d also add a warning about the pod cap!

Would I buy this device again due to loss or damage?

I would consider buying this kit again.

The Freemax Twister 2 Kit is an update to the popular tube mod and sub ohm tank kit.

I still own the original Twister 80W kit and it came with the awesome Fireluke 2 tank. There was also a 30W Twister released for MTL vapers.

More Details On The Freemax Twister 2 Kit…

At first glance a lot of features which made the original a success are still here plus a couple of updates!

twister 2 features

Firstly the battery capacity has increased from the 2300mAh of the original up to the 3000mAh of this new version.

Plus now there is a USB Type C port with 1.5A charging which should speed things up a bit!

As with the original there is an LED indicator which displays device status and battery charge remaining.

This will output from 15-80W and again the output adjustment is in the form of a dial located on the bottom of the mod. Simply twist to adjust.

A new feature is the ability to lock the fire button to prevent accidental firing. To do this you have a “lock” position to rotate the output dial to. I would imagine you will need to re-set the output when unlocking.

Included in the kit is the new Fireluke 4 sub ohm tank. Thankfully this appears to be compatible with previous Fireluke Mesh coils.

fireluke 4 coil options

This tank comes with the 0.15ohm X1-D mesh coil – which has one coil compartment but actually consists of two mesh coils installed in a parallel configuration and is therefore called “Double-D Mesh”.

You also get the 904L (Stainless Steel) X2 double mesh coil too.

The tank has a 5ml capacity as standard – which sadly decreases to 2ml for TPD regulated areas.

A top fill system is provided which is apparently ISO 8317 Child Resistant Certified.

At the base of the tank is the airflow control ring to adjust to your preference. Plus both the tank and mod have standard 510 connections for use with other devices.

Here is an introduction video from the Freemaxvape YouTube Channel.

There are 5 colours to choose from: Black, 3D-Orange, Blue, 3D-Red and Silver.
