We have reviewed many of their devices such as the Titan X, Xpod and Xpod Mini.

What I didn’t know is that Epuffer supplies a lot of devices for performing arts, when characters are required to smoke. They offer cigalike, e-pipe and e-cigar devices for props to make it look realistic! They are the brand recommended by the Actors’ Equity Association Union also known as “Equity”.

What To Expect From The Epuffer Shift…

This is a funky looking pod kit with a futuristic technical design.

Inside the device is a 400mAh battery which apparently charges in less than an hour using the USB Type C port provided.

The output is not specified but it is designed with only 1 compatible pod available.

The pod has a 1ohm fixed coil which has “Photo Etching Process Coil” (PEPC) mesh technology – I assume this adds more surface heating area for the coil?

A side fill port is located on the pod to add up to 2ml of your own e-liquid.

You can adjust the airflow to your preference using the slider switch on the side of the device. Epuffer state this is suitable for Mouth To Lung (MTL) or RDL (Restricted Direct Lung) vaping styles.

This has a fire button or you can use the auto draw operation too.

There are 3 colours to choose from: Orange Shift, Shadow Black and Royal Blue.

My opinions are based on my experience with the devices provided. I will report on my findings – your experience may be different.

Epuffer Shift Design and Build Quality

I received 3 of these kits in all three colours – thank you Epuffer!

They all came well packaged and with the added safety of the pod removed from the device plus an isolating sticker on the pod base. Another great idea is a plastic plug in the mouthpiece to prevent contamination – make sure to remove this before use!

I found the instructions were OK but slightly confusing – especially the details of the LED indicator. It actually doesn’t tell you anything about whether it will display battery charge remaining?

This page is the worst – the “Charging” paragraphs in particular made me scratch my head…

“A) Charging: LED light will flash Red 3 times when it’s successfully charged…

B) Fully charged: LED light will flash Green 20 times when battery is fully charged”

After experimenting the Red LED flashes 3 times when you connect the charge cable and flashes Green 20 times when fully charged. The light then goes off completely.

Also there are some inaccuracies about the LED – it does not light up White when vaping – in fact it changes colour according to battery charge remaining. Can you see any info on that? Nope neither can I. Plus it does not illuminate when you install the pod?

I know it seems a bit like I am nit-picking as a lot of user instructions are terrible, but this is a UK brand with a higher price point – so I am expecting better than this.

Epuffer Shift Mod

The device is covered in a Plastic shell, which extends beyond the pod contacts to encase the pod too. It reminds me of a Glass display case where you can see the contents clearly!

I keep rubbing my fingers on it thinking I might be able to feel some of the components concealed beneath the shell, but to no avail as it is super smooth and just feels lovely in the hand.

The front of the device features the roughly square shaped fire button. This has a great clicky action and only protrudes a few mm above the device surface.

The button sits in a cut out which features what appears to be the circuit board beneath. Also in this area is the coloured LED indicator which fills the cut out section with light.

Further down the front is a faux circuit board pattern panel encased in the coloured shell with the Plastic clear casing on top.

Many screw heads are visible all over the device, but they are covered in the clear shell so you cannot actually feel them.

The rear of the device is similar to the front but more covered over. The faux circuit board panel features the Epuffer logo and required legal logos.

On one side of the device is the airflow adjustment slider, slide fully up to close off the airflow or fully down to open the airflow. This moves underneath the clear shell with only the small knob sticking out above the shell.

The opposite side is plain.

On the base you will find the USB Type C port and 2 real screw heads which must secure the device in the Plastic outer.

The transparent pod compartment houses 2 magnets and two spring loaded electrical connections. It is very easy to access for cleaning etc. This holds the pod in place firmly without any wobble whilst allowing easy pod removal.

Epuffer Shift Pod

The pod is lightly tinted but you can see the contents easily – even when installed on the device.

This has a slightly rectangular “Duck Bill” style mouthpiece which is not uncomfortable in use at all.

A side fill port is held closed by quite a flimsy silicone port cover, I can’t see this lasting a long time, but these are disposable pods anyway so shouldn’t be a huge issue.

Beneath the fill port cover is the port which is approximately 5x3mm and poses no issues with my 10ml and 30ml e-liquid bottles. I have not had any airlock problems either as the rectangular shape means there is a space for surplus air to exit when filling.

On the pod base are the 2 magnets which mate with those in the mod and 2 contacts for the electrical side of things.

The airflow inlet holes are opposite each other so you can install the pod either way around.

Epuffer Shift Quick Start Guide

This arrives with the pod disconnected from the mod. To prevent damage an isolator sticker is applied to the base of the pod.

Make sure to fill the pod with e-liquid before removing this sticker. If you don’t and you vape – this will burn the coil out and the pod will be scrap.

You can then remove the mouthpiece protector plug and charge the battery.

It is recommended to use 50% to 70% VG e-liquid in this kit, which is similar to other starter kits on the market.

Basic Operation

• Power On/Off = press the fire button 5 times – the LED will flash to confirm.
• Vaping = either press the fire button or inhale on the mouthpiece to trigger the auto draw firing.
• Battery indicator = the instructions say the LED will light up White when vaping. Which is not true. It does light up but it will be Green (high charge remaining), Blue (medium charge) or Red (low charge).
• Battery indicator when charging = the Red LED flashes 3 times when connected to a charger. It will cycle through the colours Red, then Blue and then Green. When fully charged the LED will flash Green 20 times and the light will go out.
• Adjust airflow = move the airflow adjustment slider up to reduce the incoming airflow and down to open up the airflow.

Protections

• Low Power – the LED will flash Red twice when the device needs charging.
• Short circuit – device will turn off and Red LED will flash 3 times. Clean pod and device contacts, if this does not rectify try a new pod. Otherwise the device may be faulty.
• Over time – if you vape for longer than 8 seconds the fire will cut out. You can inhale or press the button again to continue vaping.
• Anti Dry Hit – when the device detects insufficient e-liquid in the pod the LED will flash White 3 times.
• Temp High – Red LED will flash for 5 seconds and device will turn off. Allow device to cool down before turning on again.

How To Charge The Battery

The charging rate is not specified.

• Using a USB type C cable, connect the small end into the USB port on the mod.
• Connect the large end of the cable into a suitable USB outlet.
• The LED indicator will flash Red 3 times to show charging has started. It will then illuminate Red, Blue and Green as it charges.
• When fully charged the LED will flash Green 20 times and then the light will go out.

The charging time for me using a 2A charge outlet was around 55 minutes each time.

How To Fill the Pod

• Remove the pod from the mod.
• Tip the pod on its side with the fill port at the top.
• Lift up and swing the fill port cover out of the way.
• Add e-liquid whilst observing the level through the pod.
• Close the fill port firmly.
• If this is the first fill leave the pod to stand for 5-10 minutes. Take a few dummy inhales on the mouthpiece before inserting the pod into the mod to help with the e-liquid flow.
• Replace the pod in the mod.

How Does the Epuffer Shift Perform?

I mainly used my own e-liquid mix which is 50/50 PG/VG made from IVG Bubblegum Concentrate at 20% ratio. This is quite high a flavour ratio as I prefer plenty of flavour, but sadly this means it can be a coil killer sometimes.

I add nic salt to approx 6mg strength.

1ohm Pod

I have to say this really surprised me.

Despite it being a high resistance the flavour is quite lovely!

It is a very smooth vape and not harsh in any way, ideal for the higher nicotine strengths!

Even with my weeny 6mg nic I got a decent throat hit.

There is a small amount of warmth and the flavour feels almost creamy, it is that smooth.

I am not even using a creamy e-liquid – mine is Bubblegum! But that mellow flavour is delicious!

It is not the rawest or purest flavour I have had from a pod, but it brings a new twist on e-liquid I have been using for a long time.

The vapour is impressive for this high resistance coil too!

I am taking quite long draws on this as it feels like it takes quite a while to fill my mouth with vapour – so this might impact coil life, battery life and how often I refill it.

So far after 8 refills the flavour is still the same and hasn’t dropped off.

Airflow

This is not the tightest MTL airflow I have used.

On a scale of 0-10 (0 being fully closed and 10 being breathing fresh air) this ranges from around 3.5 to 5. So not a huge adjustment range really.

In fully open this is suitable for RDL (Restricted Direct Lung vaping) and when fully closed this is a decent MTL vape.

Mod Performance

The auto draw action is as quick as pressing the fire button – you really cannot tell the difference!

Some devices struggle with auto draw when the airflow is wide open or fully closed but there were no issues at all here!

The Anti-Dry hit protection didn’t seem to work for me. I vaped until the pod was empty, I was getting horrible dry hits but there was no warning lights and the fire did not cut out. I had got to the point where the burnt flavour made vaping impossible.

What I will say is that after this point I refilled the pod and the flavour was great again which was a surprise.

The power output is pretty stable until the LED turns Red, at this point the vape is weak – but you do only get a few vapes before the device conks out and needs recharging.

Leaks

No leaks at all I am pleased to report.

There is some condensation – which is to be expected and this is visible through the clear pod compartment area. Nothing troublesome though and it cleared by itself.

Battery Life

This will always vary depending on your own vaping habits.

I am a heavy vaper and have been taking quite long draws on this device.

So with that in mind – as a guide I got 3.5 hours on average. If for instance I was using stronger nicotine e-liquid I would be taking shorter puffs and less often – so the battery would last longer.

Pros

• Interesting looking device
• Airflow adjustment always gets brownie points from me
• Beautiful smooth flavour vape with a lot more vapour than I was expecting!
• Have vaped 16ml so far and the flavour is still great
• Works as a RDL or MTL device
• Simple to use

Cons

• No fire button lock – I have accidentally fired it many times when carrying
• Only one pod resistance available
• You only get 1 pod in the kit, which is a shame if you accidentally damage the pod
• Instructions are not the best I have seen – wording is a bit confusing and there are inaccuracies
• Flimsy fill port cover
• Not the tightest MTL vape even when fully closed.
• Anti Dry Hit protection didn’t seem to work for me?
• 55 minutes to charge – the battery is only 400mAh so the charge rate must be low.

Final Review Verdict

A few marks dropped for the flimsy pod cover and confusing instructions. Otherwise the build quality is excellent. I would really like to be able to lock the fire button though as I have triggered it by accident even just carrying it in my hands – let alone in a bag or pocket.

The instructions need overhauling, missing information and in some cases incorrect information. Considering this is a UK brand – surely the instructions should be better, this has impacted the “Ease of use” score. The device itself is easy to use, but for the newbie the instructions could make it confusing.

I tested the anti dry hit protection which did not work, I stopped vaping as the flavour was too burnt. But the pod when refilled did recover – to its credit.

I do actually like the design, but with the abundance of clear plastic, some may feel it is a bit cheap looking. Especially the faux circuit board area.

That vaping experience though is great. A smooth creamy flavour with a cloud that made me think I was using a lot lower resistance coil!

However the battery capacity is too low for me to be taking this out and about with me, hence dropping points in the “Replace if lost or damaged” category. Also the fact the small battery still takes 55 minutes to charge is another deal breaker.

As a starter kit this is great, will give people a brilliant impression of vaping, the quality and flavour is an excellent place to start, but for less tech savvy users it may take a bit of fathoming out.

Epuffer – improve the instructions, add a fire button locking function and this would get a lot higher marks!

I reviewed the original ePuffer Titan last January and was pretty impressed – good build – good flavour and as pen kits go, a contemporary design.

As to how ePuffer has improved the new version will shall see.

OK, ePuffer is a UK based vape manufacturer and began with the back in the day impressive Epuffer Magnum Snaps – a funky little cig-a-lite…ah the memories lol.

Since then the company has released the EPuffer Xpod Mini which Harley really liked, as well as the XPod kit, a pod kit that site admin Jonny really enjoyed.

Epuffer has released many other products, including cigars which I really like the look of – but the three vape kits I’ve mentioned are the only ones we’ve reviewed.

What Can We Expect From the New ePuffer Titan X?

The ePuffer Titan X vape kit is a pen style and the company describes it as a ‘hybrid‘.

In simple terms that means it can switch from a mouth to lung vape to sub ohm by swapping out the coils – as to if that works, we shall see.

It has a built in battery with fast charging, the tank is a top fill and there’s dual airflow.

So with all that in mind, I’m hoping for good flavour and clouds, coil and battery longevity and of course how it switches between vaping styles.

Epuffer told me the improvements made came from customer feedback [great to see] and upgrades to the original include:

• 1. Added a USB Type-C connection – The battery is now charging in less
  than 1 hour.
• 2. Updated software to provide a better support for 0.4 DTL coil.
• 3. Improved 1.0ohm and 0.4ohm coils (more vapour, better flavour).
• 4. Modified a mouthpiece and installed a non removable rubber gasket.
• 5. The logo on power button is now imprinted from inside, so it will not
  fade over time.

The Titan X was sent to me direct from the company for the purpose of this review – thank you – and always my thoughts and opinions are not swayed by freebies…

Right, let’s see if I’m over the moon vaping on this one, and if it is indeed, a Titan among vapes…

Key Features

Without stating the obvious, this is a pen style vape kit that can switch from MTL to DTL vaping, thanks to the 2 types of coil available.

It has a 1500 mAH internal battery – with Type C fast charging – and can kick out a max of 50w. There’s no screen or up and down buttons to change wattage, instead the Inteli Sense Micro Controller within the chip checks the coil and sets the wattage accordingly.

The top fill tank is a TPD friendly 2ml capacity, is made from glass [covered by a protective frame] and part of the upgrade is a stainless steel mesh splash guard meant to stop spit-back.

There’s a dual cyclops airflow on the bottom of the tank, with a wide open slot rather than any honeycomb or holes that reduce in size.

So, it all looks good on paper, we’ll see in a moment how the Epuffer TITAN X vapes.

Design and Build Quality

Apart from the glass tank, the rest of the TITAN X vape kit is made from polished stainless steel.

They say polished, up close it has a kind of minimalist brushed stainless steel look about it, so it’s not shiny to the point of being a blingy fingerprint magnet – that’s a good thing!

The drip tip can’t be removed – I have tried so it might be my weak wrists – and is rather elongated but comfortable enough.

The moving parts are in general OK, the top cap screws off nicely [the fill ports are a little small] with nice threads, and it’s the same with the threads on the coil and tank to battery.

One bugbear is the airflow control – once screwed onto the mod it’s a bugger to move and you do end up unscrewing the tank, as I have a number of times. Even now and fully lubed up with vape juice, it’s stiffer than my joints after a 10 mile hike…that’s really stiff BTW

Overall it is very well made and design wise does look on the badass side of good.

So all good so far, let’s see how it performs.

How Does the Epuffer TITAN X Perform?

Given the kit can switch between MTL and DTL, I’ll break it down into the two coils.

For the MTL coil I used SuperGood Cocktail Selection nic salt Peach Bellini – bloody lovely stuff.

And for the DTL I used the last of my very tasty Jungle Juice Red Lagoon – a 70/30% VG/PG mix.

1.0 ohm Coil

I obviously used the nic salt on this one…me being Captain Obvious again…

The fill ports were just about wide enough to fit the nozzle – the same can’t be said for bigger shortfill bottles.

OK after priming the coil, I let it sit for a good 10 minutes. For newbies, priming is extremely important on stock coils as it allows the vape juice to completely soak the cotton, so avoiding dry hits and ruining your coil – see the link for more info.

OK first vape, and it was impressive.

I had the airflow half open and got a very nice semi-restricted vape. On a scale of 1:10 with 10 being the airiest it was about a 6. Obviously closed right off and this is one hell of a tight MTL vape.

Flavour was good too at around a 7.5 and up to an 8 once the coil had broken in and got a couple of re-fills – not bad clouds either if that’s your thing.

The coil wicked well and no leaks whatsoever – even left on its side over night.

0.4 ohm Coil

This coil is designed for sub ohm vaping and hopefully chucking clouds.

Wide open and this was a very airy vape right up there at a 9+ – a bit to airy for me and like do like my vapes on the looser side.

Again and with the airflow half closed, the vape was spot on with the tiniest bit of restriction, however the vapour wasn’t anything to write home about.

Yes there’s clouds, but if that’s what you’re into this is no cloud chucker.

Flavour wise, I know this vape juice very well, it was OK and on the good side of the scale…not amazing, but certainly tasty.

Again the coil wicked well, even after chain vaping, and again there was no leakage left overnight.

Pros

Cons

• A little noisy
• Airflow control ring very stiff

Final Review Verdict

Vape pen kits are still very much in vogue and the Epuffer TITAN X style wise certainly looks the part.

It’s chunky and rugged, feels weighty in the hand, and is solidly built.

There’s no doubt the chip makes it dead simple for the absolute beginner to vaping, whilst the choice of coils will enable the vaping style to grow.

Not that many vape kits can pull off a proper MTL and DTL experience simply by switching out the coil, but the new kit certainly achieves this and does it very well too.

It is a little on the noisy side and a cloud chucker this ain’t even with the extra wrap on the sub ohm coil, but that isn’t my thing so no biggie.

I’m all about the flavour, and with both coils the TITAN X is definitely in the better than good range.

Pod mod releases are not a bad thing as such, as long as they are done well. They can be excellent devices for smokers making the switch as well as for the more experienced vaper looking for a little vape to slip in their back pocket when out and about.

The XPod was also released in disposable format, called the XPod Mini, which we recently reviewed and it did a great job, if a throw away is your bag.

The X Pod is a in the mould of the JUUL pod system. A lightweight, compact device that houses a 375 mAh battery, replaceable pre-refilled or refillable pod cartridges (comes with three) and USB-C charging.

Sounds exciting so far hey This time we are definitely getting on with the review.

Design and Build Quality

The ePuffer X Pod is available in three colours, Violet, Pearl White and the Carbo Navy received for review.

Lightweight

It’s safe to say the X Pod was designed with portability in mind. This little device feels super light in the hand and pretty much forgettable in the pocket.

I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve patted myself down looking for this vape!

Design and Hand Feel

Despite the weight the XPod feels reassuringly sturdy, it’ll take a few drops for the clumsy among us.

The honeycomb design on the body not only makes for a nice tactile feel and grip but also makes this pod system stand out from the crowd.

It actually looks like some sort of sticker overlay on the images but this design is actually moulded into the plastic body.

It looks the business.

The only break in the honeycomb effect comes by way of two e-liquid viewing windows. Once your vape juice disappears from view from the first window you are just about over half way through. Once it disappears from the second window you are pretty much empty.

While the idea is nice, in reality the windows are too small to properly see your e-liquid levels.

I found myself quickly pulling the pod out of the battery to check. Which, for me, was no big deal as the pod is sucked right back in via the magnetic connections.

Auto Draw – No Buttons

The XPod is auto draw activated. Which basically means no pressing buttons to vape.

Simply inhale and the battery takes care of the rest.

The USB C charge port is on the base of the battery. You can also use the device while it is charging as well.

Pod Cartridges

As mentioned the kit comes with three refillable pods. They simply ‘snap’ into place when you drop them into the top of the battery. They are held firmly in place magnets.

It all works seamlessly. Easy for anyone to use.

For those that don’t want to bother with buying e-liquid separately or indeed filling then ePuffer have six pre-filled flavour cartridges at the time of writing.

All come with protective sleeves in a sealed pack of three.

We received these for review so will go over these separately below.

The mouthpiece itself is made from a super smooth plastic and feels good on the lips. Depending on which colour device you go for the replacement pods can be bought to match. Nice touch.

How To Fill the ePuffer XPod Cartridge

You might be catching on by now how easy the XPod is to use. Filling the pods is no different.

• Remove the rubber bung from the side of the cartridge
• Slowly fill
• Replace the bung
• Let the cartridge sit for 5-10 minutes. This allows the e-liquid to soak fully into the cotton preventing dry hits. Very important step! Be patient

The only thing that may be an issue with the refillable pods is the removable rubber bung. Rather than staying attached to the cartridge it is actually fully removable.

There are three spare bungs in the box but just something for those with butter fingers to keep in mind.

How Does The ePuffer XPod Perform?

OK.. So we know it’s a piece of pi$% to use right but all that comes to nothing if the flavour and performance fails.

First up, let’s take a look at the pre-filled XPod flavours. These come in packs of three and are available to buy separately or add to your device order.

The Epuffer e-liquids are a 50PG/50VG Nic Salt mix and all lab tested and free from Diacetyl & Acetyl Propionyl.

Keep in mind flavour is a subjective thing so what may be good for me may not be for you.

Sweet Mango

ePuffer Says:

Ripe and sweet Mango flavor with fragrant and fruity aroma.

I Say:

I’m more of an original fruit flavour fan, as in not too much sweetener added. Good news is the sweetness isn’t overpowering and serves the natural mango flavour well.

There seems to be the merest hint of cooling on the exhale which I find gives the flavour an almost refreshing finish.

It’s a very good version of a ripe mango flavour, my personal pick of the flavours and an easy all day vape.

Apple

ePuffer Says:

Sweet & Sour – Double Apple flavor is a favorite treat among apple lovers.

I Say:

Not just any apple. This is double apple! Sounds good to me but is it double good.

This is a well put together vape juice. Think Granny Smith but toned down slightly on the sour front.

The Apple flavour hits your tastebuds making this instantly recognisable. A good start and I’d have to agree they’ve doubled down on the apple here to give you a nice full flavour.

The hint of sourness is there on the exhale with a slight cooling to round off a very good flavour.

Lemon Citrus Fusion

ePuffer Says:

Bright, Sweet and Refreshing Lemon sorbet flavor that dazzles your tongue and refreshes your senses.

I Say:

Now I like my lemons but I’m not the biggest lemon vape fan. I find a lot of them almost come across tasting more like a refreshing face wipe. Or should I add what a refreshing lemon face wipe would taste like!

This flavour, for me, is ‘decent’. The lemon flavour is actually quite good but I still have that face wipe in the back of my mind as I vape.

On the exhale there is a cooling that actually leaves your mouth feeling fresh.. I guess… Just like it would if you tasted a lemon face wipe?

OK, enough of that… I actually vaped all three of these pods so it’s definitely vapable and if you are into your lemon vapes then you should be happy with this.

Tobacco Butterscotch

ePuffer Says:

Tobacco with a kick, butterscotch gives a rich, deep, buttery vape flavor.

I Say:

The description of this had me wincing like a 6 month old trying fresh lemon for the first time.

Now we have three tobacco based flavours in the range so a quick disclaimer before I get into these.

I’ve not had a cigarette for touching on 10 years and I was a Marlboro Light smoker at that. I also don’t have any tobacco flavours in my daily rotation and haven’t for 7 years. So not exactly a tobacco connoisseur so take that what you will.

Back to it..

This is a strange one. The tobacco, for me, is actually pretty good. It sits just in front of the butterscotch in terms of flavour strength and actually leaves a nice robust tobacco in the mouth after exhaling.

A very good, realistic tobacco flavour.

The issue for me is the strange butterscotch flavour sitting there in the background. It does provide that buttery sweetness but it didn’t sit that well with me.

Maybe the lemon wipe incident had messed with my taste buds.

To be fair, the more I vaped this the more the tobacco comes to the fore and the butterscotch begins to hide away providing just a hint of the flavour.

Not one for me personally. If you like the idea of a flavoured tobacco then it may be worth a go. Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below if you do.

Tobacco Flue Cured

ePuffer Says:

Flue-cured Virginia tobacco, is very well known for a slightly sweet, but strong and robust tobacco aroma.

I Say:

After the tobacco tested previously I had high hopes for this and I wasn’t disappointed. A very good tobacco flavour again.

I wouldn’t go as far to say this is strong and robust but the mouth taste this leaves isn’t far off the real thing. The sweetness is very subtle but just enough to make this an easy vape for a non tobacco vaper.

Pretty amazing how far tobacco flavours have come over the years. I’m confident this would do a good job in replacing the smokes for those making the switch.

Menthol

ePuffer Says:

The mixture of Nordic Mint essential oil creates a well balanced, clean and satisfying flavor that many menthol cigarettes smokers will enjoy.

I Say:

Wow.. After the two tobacco vapes I’ve been trying out this is super refreshing. It’s not just a full on menthol crystals type ice blast, it actually carries a nice mint flavour, similar to Fox Glacier mints if anyone remembers those.

As would be expected it leaves that clean, cooling effect in the mouth. Nicely done.

Refillable Pods

The pack includes refillable pods (No E-Liquid) so you can use with vape juice of your choice.

I’d recommend sticking to 50PG/50VG – 60VG e-liquid.

The flavour, while still decent with 70VG, wasn’t as prominent as with the lower VG juice.

Standard high nic e-liquid can be used but preferably nic salt for a smoother high nic vape.

Using Apollo Nic Salt Watermelon the flavour came though well. Definitely on a par with the best refillable pod systems I’ve personally used.

Does it Vape Like A Cigarette?

As this is primarily targeted towards smokers making the switch the way it vapes is an important thing to keep in mind.

The ePuffer XPod does a good job, neither too loose or too restrictive. The cloud production is also decent for a pod based system.

Pod Cartridge Life

The first pre-filled pod I tried only lasted just over a full day. Not good you may be thinking. Under normal circumstances no it’s not. But I was chain vaping like a mad man so it didn’t surprise me.

Subsequent pods have lasted around 4-5 days with moderate vaping and taking a few drags every 40-60 minutes throughout the day and night.

Your pod life will all come down to your personal vaping habits. Being nic salt e-liquids you don’t tend to vape as much as you would a standard, high nic e-liquid.

Using the refillable pods with my own e-liquid I’m currently on my 6th refill and still the flavour is coming through well.

So Do The Cartridges Leak?

I’ve experienced zero leaks. Not even residue on the connections of the pod or battery.

Battery Life

The ePuffer XPod battery life is good. I got a good full day, 12pm to 1pm next day before a recharge was needed. This was with moderate to heavy vaping.

Lighter, occasional vaping saw me going into the second day no problem.

Again, this will all depend on your vaping style.

The battery features a light at the end of the body that lights up when vaping. When the battery runs flat it will flash when you try and vape.

Unfortunately you don’t get much of a warning so I’d recommend sticking this on charge when not in use.

Charging is easy and fairly quick. ePuffer state a 45-50 minute charge time. I timed mine at just over the hour mark.

When charging the battery light will remain on. When finished this light will flash and then turn off.

Pros

• ‘Plug and Play’ easy to use
• Great setup for a new vaper
• Nice honeycomb design
• Lightweight
• Very good pod flavour (Overall)
• Choice of refillable or pre-filled pods
• USB-C charging
• I experienced zero leaking

Cons

• Would be nice to get a better warning whe the battery is running low

Final Review Verdict

As pod systems go I’ve enjoyed using the ePuffer XPod. It does exactly what a pod mod is supposed to do. Simple for beginners. Good flavour. Good design. Highly portable.

The fact that you can buy both pre-filled or blank (empty) cartridges is a big plus as well.

Who Would I Recommend The ePuffer XPod to?

Smokers making the switch to vaping right up to the more experienced mouth to lung (MTL) vaper that just wants a no mess, quick nicotine hit every now and then. I’ve found this to be the perfect back pocket vape when out and about.

If you are looking for a JUUL alternative then this is a solid choice.

One bonus with ePuffer is you can actually try the product and if it’s not for you they will still accept returns within 30 days. So all pretty risk free. Not many devices you can do that with.

Would I Buy the ePuffer XPod Again if Lost?

Yes I would. I’ve really enjoyed using this and have actually made my way though most of the pods. I will definitely finish them off.. Apart from the Tobacco Butterscotch that is

Update: Epuffer XPOD Havana Sweets Disposable Vape

As promised…we’ve added the Epuffer XPOD disposable vape Havana Sweets to this review, and as you can see this is a very different design.

First impressions and this is tiny but very well built and resembles a lipstick lol.

It’s that tiny it’s very easy to lose – I’ve managed to leave one somewhere, but as there’s x3 in each pack that’s not such a problem.

You get a choice of 2mg or 1mg nicotine strength and at the moment there’s only the Havana Sweets flavour in this range.

Each disposable pod is good for up to 150 puffs so for the price you’re getting a round 500 puffs in total.

If you read the Epuffer Robusto e-cigar review you’ll see I’m not that keen on the Havana Sweets flavour.

AS the name suggests it is a very sweet cigar, great if you have a sweet-tooth.

What I do like is the style and draw which is a loose MTL and plenty of vapour.

If they bring out the Havana Blue flavour I’d definitely be popping one or two in my pocket.

Although I’ve never heard of ePuffer, they’ve been around for 12 years and while researching them, their product range has caught my attention some what.

The range includes Ciga-likes, Reusable pods, Vape pens, E-Cigars, E-Pipes, E-Hookahs and obviously disposable Pods.

We have covered a number of their devices and been impressed. You can check out the ePuffer Titan X review, ePuffer e-liquid and their cig-a-like, the ePuffer Magnum Snaps.

For the record any brand that makes E-pipes or a E-cigar called “Churchill D-1800”, gets my attention.

The Xpod range also includes a newer, rechargeable Pod system.

With headquarters in the UK, USA and Canada, ePuffers products are available in 26 different countries.

Their products are designed with smokers in mind. According to their website they “make progress and develop new, less-harmful alternatives to smoking”.

What Can We Expect From The Disposable ePuffer Xpod Mini?

I recently reviewed the Vozol D1 pods and they have drastically heightened my expectations of disposable pod systems. However, I will try to review the Xpods on their own merit.

The Xpod Mini pods are directly targeted at smokers. In the words of ePuffer, they are “developed to provide smokers with a clean alternative to smoking“.

The ePuffer Xpod Mini pods are currently only available in packs of 3.

The packs come with as a “variety” or just tobacco, (see the ‘In The Box’ section for more information).

The pods are only available in 18mg Nic-Salts (1.8% by volume). And they are TPD compliant.

Carrying 1.2ml of 50/50 liquid (and water…), the pods provide “upto” 300 puffs ( Yes I’ve got my clicker back out)…. Due to the Liquid containing water, If you’ve got Asthma these probably aren’t for you.

• What is nic Salt E Juice?

ePuffer make a lot of claims made about the Xpods, so here’s a list…

• Cost less than tobacco smoking
• Taste like tobacco, but contains no tobacco
• No Carbon Monoxide (No Combustion), No TAR
• Virtually odourless; no lingering smell in clothes, home and car
• Replicates behavioural and physical pleasures of smoking
• Satisfies nicotine cravings
• Easy to use (doesn’t require matches, lighters or ignition)
• Won’t stain your teeth and damage your skin

With all that said, I expect the Epuffer Xpod mini vapes to be slim devices with a tight draw, subtle flavour and a very small amount of vapour production.

Design & Build Quality

The first thing I noticed about these pods? The design of the box reminds me of an old cigarette packet. A good bit of brand targeting, right there.

Inside is the 3 individually wrapped pod systems. The plastic wrapping is clear, airtight, quick thin and easy to get into.

Inside the plastic wrapping the pod is ready to use, other than the dust plug inside the mouth piece.

As always, the plug probably isn’t designed to be reused, but I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to.

The Xpod Mini

The pods are as expected. The best way to describe the build quality of these devices is with the word “Disposable”.

The plastic feels quite thin and flimsy, although the system as a whole feels quite secure and fairly durable. The texture of the plastic is rather Satin-like, it’s not smooth and shiny like gloss but it also doesn’t quite have the roughness of a matte finish.

3 out of the 6 pods I received, rattle slightly when you shake them. I don’t think that is much of an issue with them being disposable.

The systems are not cigarette shape, which I would expect from a disposable device that is trying to replicate a cigarette. However they do feel pretty good in hand and between the fingers.

They also have a flat base, which they can stand on.

The mouthpiece is, again, not round like a cigarette but at approximately 15 x 5mm, it fits comfortably between the lips.

ePuffer mention, the XPOD is “non-flammable” numerous times. However they don’t go into specifics.

Visually

The pods look pretty smart and formal.

The brand logos are printed on the front of the pod, in a colour that represents the flavour.

The colour of the flat plastic cap in the bottom of the base also signifies the pods flavour.

The CE (European Conformity) and Crossed-out wheelie bin Symbols are embossed on the base of the device. They’re not really noticeable.

There is a LED Light on the bottom of the device, which lights up when you take a puff…

I think….(Joke – it definitely does). It always annoys me a little bit when the designers put a LED Indicator in a place that you can’t see it, without a mirror.

Airflow

In regards to airflow, ePuffer have done really good job at replicating a cigarette.

The airflow (unlike many devices) comes through solely on the base of the device. Usually with pod systems, if you cover the airflow holes, you can still draw air. This is not the case with the xpod, the outer shell of the pod is very airtight.

The airflow isn’t so restrictive that you have to suck with all your might, but certainly too tight to use the device direct to lung (DTL) but that’s not what it’s designed for.

It’s been awhile since I’ve sucked on a cigarette but if my memory serves me right, they got the airflow spot on.

Quick Start

1. Remove the pod from the airtight packet.
2. Remove the rubber “Dust Plug” from the mouth piece.
3. Enjoy

When you take the first puff there is a little pop (often barley noticeable), That’s fine, it’s just the pod/liquid activating.

How Does The ePuffer Xpod Mini Perform?

If you’re like me, a flavour or cloud chaser, you’ll probably think they’re pointless.

However these slim pods aren’t designed for the likes of us. The rest of this review is written with the target audience in mind.

The Flavours In General

At first I thought the flavours are weak, but although the flavour is subtle, in accordance with the amount of vapour the pods produce, the flavour is actually really impressive.

The flavours are also constant. After 10 consecutive drags you can still taste the flavour. I think that’s pretty impressive.

Premium Tobacco

Would you believe it?

If you blindfolded me, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in taste, between this pod and a cigar/”premium” cigarette.

Now, I’ve never been a fan of actual cigars, I can’t stand the things but without smoke, I don’t think you could get any closer to the taste of a cigar.

It even leaves the cigar taste in your mouth/throat. I’m truly impressed.

Tropical Mango

The Mango flavour isn’t for me either, it’s the pure mango taste (You know, that very soft, sweet flavour). However it would definitely serve as a good flavour for mango lovers.

Although I do think this flavour is the less prominent of the 3 flavours. It tastes alright, but after having a fruity drink, it takes a while for the flavour to return (or at least it does for me).

Cool Menthol

Rant alert: it really annoys me when people (especially companies) don’t differentiate between Mint and Menthol. That applies here!

This is probably my favourite of the 3 flavours. Although it is menthol, there is definitely a minty taste. Perhaps ‘Minty Menthol’ or ‘Cool Mint’ would have been a more apt name.

With a subtly mint flavour the Cool Menthol is pleasantly refreshing.

How Long Does the XPod Mini Battery & pods Last?

ePuffer state these Xpod Minis provide ‘upto 300 puffs’.

If you’ve ever read or watched one of my reviews, you’ll know, that is far too vague for my liking,

So with clicker in hand I got to work.

First I counted the Tropical Mango puffs, I was so disappointed when it died at 184 puffs!

For me that was about 5-6 hours of use.

Rather disheartened, I started again with the Cool Menthol… That took 362 puffs!

That was about 11 hours use.

I Should probably mention, with the Cool menthol, although it lasted to 362 puffs at about 280 puffs, the flavour started to fade and at about 340 puffs the vapour production started to fade drastically.

I didn’t count the puffs on the tobacco but it lasted about 8-9 hours.

Maybe the Tropical Mango was the 1 in 1,000 and they usually last longer. These things do happen but I’m certainly not impressed with the difference between the 2 pods that I puff counted.

When the Pod battery has died/ran out, the LED indicator lights up after taking a puff, instead of while you’re taking a puff.

Vapour Production

The ePuffer Xpod Mini’s provide less vapour than a cigarette. Although I did find that if you inhale slowly you can get a similar cloud on the exhale.

Unlike a lot of pods, the sensor that detects the draw and activates the pod is very sensitive. (You can tell when the system is engaged, by the LED indicator). The pod being really sensitive, enables you to do a slower, longer inhale.

Obviously the longer you inhale, the longer the activated system will produce vapour and therefore produce more vapour.

Throat Hit

Although it didn’t take me long to get used to (or stop noticing), the pods provide quite a throat hit, especially for such a small amount of vapour.

Originally I put this down to the nicotine strength (18mg), then I realised the pods use nic-salts; so it’s not the nicotine causing the throat hit.

I just left it, and presumed it was the 50PG/50VG mixture (as PG is known to give more of a throat hit).

However it all made sense when I realised ePuffer uses water in the Xpods.

Water vapour is much hotter than PG and VG Vapour. Although water on its own could cause internal damage (Via burning the mouth, throat and so on), small amounts of water in e-liquid, is not uncommon and is considered safe.

However as I stated before, if you have asthma, I would advise you to be cautious of vaping e-liquids that contain water.

Final Verdict

If you are a smoker looking to quit but don’t want to jump straight into buying a ‘Kit’ the ePuffer XPod Mini pods could be a great way to “test the waters”. Just please bare in mind, vaping isn’t a one size fits all solution, there are many different types of devices and flavour.

If you use a low voltage/wattage mouth to lung device and you have left it at home, broke it or lost it, I think these little things would tide you over quite sufficiently.

If you are a sub-ohm, cloud chaser, or flavour chaser type of vapour, these probably aren’t going to serve you all that well, unless you’re desperately looking for a nicotine fix.

At the beginning of this review I provided you with a list of claims that ePuffer has made, and I’ve got to say they pretty much ticked them all off. Except from “No more embarrassment or guilt”, “Not offensive to others”, which, in my eyes, are bazaar claims.

Oh and “Costs less than smoking” because that is pretty hard to measure (although it’s probably true).

Introduction: The Titan X From EPuffer

(Updated 28/5/18 as EPuffer sent me a new device…)

The EPuffer Titan X is a new Vape Pen style kit.

This is a new brand to me – however on ECigclick we have reviewed some of their devices before including the predecessor the EPuffer Titan.

This new version has a re-designed tank section which includes a new 0.4ohm coil and a new filling system.

The mod itself now has a larger battery capacity jumping from 1100mAh to 1500mAh and is able to use lower resistance coils.

The coil heads now have a splash guard to help prevent spitting and 100% pure Japanese cotton wicking.

This is a starter type kit which is marketed towards MTL and DTL users via different coil heads included in the kit.

The mod boasts a system where it will adjust to the coil resistance and supply power accordingly.

The only colour available is shiny stainless steel.

Sometimes I hear the saying “jack of all trades – master of none” – does this apply to the Titan X?

Let’s get it charged, filled and fired up! I apologise for the rambly nature of this review – as you will see the DTL coil head took a lot of “trial and error” to get working so I thought I would share with you all the steps I had to take!

Build Quality & Design

Well straight off I can see the EPuffer Titan X is a classy, well made device.

It is super shiny stainless steel. The weight makes it feel more substantial without it feeling heavy. It feels far from “cheap”.

The battery has a great sized fire button which displays the battery capacity well.

The tank section has a substantial airflow adjustment ring with stops at the limits of adjustment.

It appears that the drip tip is fixed as you use this to unscrew the top of the tank for refilling as there is no grip on the top cap as such.

The clear windows make it simple to see your liquid level at all times.

In The Hand

How Does the EPuffer Titan X Perform?

Basic operation

• On/off = 5 clicks of fire button

The battery capacity remaining is illustrated via the colour of the fire button LED…

• Cyan = 100-50% charge
• Blue = 49-25% charge
• Red = 24-0% charge.

The instruction manual said a maximum of 40% VG E-liquid is recommended – which is rather strange for the 0.4ohm DTL sub ohm coil head?

How To Charge The EPuffer Titan X

Simply take the included USB cable, plug the small end into the USB port on the battery and the other end into a suitable USB outlet.

The LED on the fire button will stop illuminating when the battery is fully charged.

EPuffer Titan X Tank

The tank is separate from the battery and can be unscrewed. However due to the design of this device I wouldn’t really use a different tank on this battery.

The battery is designed to auto adjust the power output depending on which coil head is installed.

I had no leaks and found the tank simple to use.

How To Fill The EPuffer Titan X

• Grip the drip tip and unscrew – this will unscrew the top cap of the tank.
• Squeeze E-liquid into the smile shaped holes and watch the level through the tank windows.
• Make sure the gasket on the underside of the top cap is still present – mine fell off a couple of times.
• Replace the top cap.

How To Change The Coil Head

• Unscrew the tank from the battery.
• Turn the tank upside down and remove the base.
• The coil will unscrew from the tank base.
• Install a new coil.
• Replace the tank base.
• Fill the tank as described above.
• Leave the liquid to sit for 10 minutes to fully soak into the coil.
• Take an inhale without pressing fire to suck more liquid through the coil.

EPuffer 1ohm MTL Coil Head

Well I have to hold my hands up here and I did initially make a slight error.

In the package with the Titan X – EPuffer sent me lots of E-liquid to also review.

I picked up the bottle which appealed to me most which was the Blueberry Custard. Promptly filled up the tank and left it to stand for 10 minutes.

It turns out the E-liquid was actually 80%VG which was not stated on the box – I found out by getting a lungfull of burnt cotton and heading to the EPuffer website.

So basically this killed the MTL coil head – it worked with thinner liquid but there was zero flavour.

Anyway the lovely people at EPuffer have sent 2 packs of replacement coil heads so I could continue my review.

I have installed the new MTL head, added some 50/50% VG/PG E-liquid and I am happy to report we have flavour!!

The throat hit is excellent, you can adjust the airflow so it’s easy to get a nice restricted MTL vape.

The flavour is excellent and the accompanying vapour is better than expected from MTL and low VG liquid. Obviously I am comparing the MTL performance with similar MTL devices. The vapour from this would not be the same as with a sub ohm coil and high VG E-liquid.

Nice job EPuffer! This works a treat!

I am not a full time MTL vaper so keep picking this up when I need an extra nic boost and every time I use it I am surprised how good the flavour is on this little coil!

EPuffer 0.4ohm DTL Coil Head

With this coil I initially used 50/50% VG/PG 12mg nicotine E-liquid.

There is a fault – the fire button LED is flashing at me. The manual doesn’t say what this means.

I have removed and replaced the coil several times, cleaned all the contacts and still just a flashing light.

Popping the MTL coil head back in and that works fine – so I am assuming the DTL coil head is suspect.

The light has now stopped flashing but nothing is happening, I press fire and the button lights up – but nothing, no vapour – no noise.

Anyway after this EPuffer sent me some new coil heads so I can try the DTL action in the Titan X.

DTL Coil Head Number 2

The second DTL coil head was the same – however this did work sometimes yet other times the light would flash.

There was no pattern – it would sometimes stop working mid vape, sometimes after it had been sat a while. I tried taking everything apart, only screwing the tank on a bit, trying to fire it with my fingers wobbling the coil – everything.

After reading the instruction manual again I have now seen the recommendation is to use 40%VG or less E-liquid – which is so weird for a sub ohm coil head. So will change the liquid and try again!

So I popped in the EPuffer Cassis E-liquid which is a staggering 70%PG – I have to go steady with this as it makes my throat hurt.

The third coil head I managed to have a few vapes on before the dreaded flashing light again?

Titan X Tank On A Box Mod

After the flashing light on the third coil head I tried the Epuffer Titan X tank on a standard box mod.

The mod did display the atomiser resistance of 0.43 ohm so it was recognising the coil. The Titan X specs say the battery maximum power is 50W but it does adjust itself to different resistance coil heads installed.

With the tank on a mod at 30W it was way too harsh, at 25W was better but slight burnt taste still.

Anyway I could no longer hack the 70% PG E-liquid so I had to resort to 50% PG to continue.

After using the tank on my mod it is now working fine on the Titan X battery which is just so bizarre – I don’t know what this tank is doing haha!

So after fannying about for several days trying to get the DTL coil head to work I have finally got it going phew! This has been the longest winded review I have ever had to write!

It is wicking fine with the 50% VG/PG E-liquid but it is 12mg nic so this is hard going on a sub ohm coil – good job I am made of strong stuff innit!

So as expected this is really harsh to vape on, it’s kicking out upto 50W on a 0.4ohm coil head and I’m having to use higher PG liquid than I would usually tolerate in sub ohm tanks.

However the airflow is great, as you have such a wonderful adjustment on this you can really get it wide open or really restricted. I have this about a third open for a restricted DTL vape. Would be great with some 6mg high VG liquid if it would wick it!

I got an hour of vaping before the dreaded flashing light again… I will have to give up now.

Oh and lo and behold 10 mins later it’s working again! Sadly I got my hopes up prematurely as it’s gone again. Flash Flash – it’s becoming tedious now.

DTL Coil Head Update – 28/5/18

Well after reading my review and the issues I had with the DTL coil head – EPuffer sent me a whole new kit to see if the one I reviewed was faulty.

So I charged up and installed the 0.4ohm coil head. I added the 50/50 VG/PG 12mg E-liquid and away we go!

Hooray it is in fact working a treat now – so the issues above must have been from a faulty battery. As you can see I tried multiple coil heads and kept getting the same issue.

So the DTL coil is super airy, I tried shutting the airflow right down but this resulted in almost dry hits, so it does need to be quite open.

As this device needs thinner e-liquid I am finding the 12mg liquid quite harsh to vape on a 0.4ohm coil. But it is working a treat.

There is not masses of vapour as this can’t use high VG E-liquid but it is pretty good.

There is a good taste too – but the main difference is the really wide open airflow.

I do feel the 0.4ohm coil was an afterthought as this kit performs perfectly with the MTL 1ohm coil and the restriction on e-liquid thickness means that the DTL coil isn’t really pulling its weight. If the DTL coil could use higher VG liquid this could really shine. But it is a tiny coil and will not wick thicker liquids at all.

Battery Life

When the red LED comes on – you still get ages of vaping – however the performance does really tail off. I’m sat here now with the red LED light displaying and taking about 10 seconds to get a vape out of it!

The battery life will depend on which coil head you have installed, the MTL coil head is a lower power requirement to the DTL head.

With the 1ohm MTL coil I got altogether 6.5 hours of pretty constant vaping.

Pros

• A well built device
• Classy looks
• No leaks
• Easy to fill
• Excellent airflow control
• Easy to use
• Good battery life
• Battery indicator – woohoo!
• Fabulous MTL airflow, flavour and throat hit
• DTL airflow is spot on too.

Cons

• This is pretty pricey – as are the replacement coils
• Instruction leaflet says to use maximum of 40%VG which is a bit odd for a DTL coil head? It’s not pleasant vaping high PG with a sub ohm coil.

Final Review Verdict

The EPuffer Titan X was a great performer – with the MTL coil head. A great starter kit with the 1ohm coil.

I would buy this as a MTL device as it isn’t great for DTL – especially as you can’t use higher VG E-liquid than 50%. It’s not pleasant to vape high PG with a 0.4ohm coil.

If EPuffer could create a sub ohm coil head which could wick higher VG E-liquid this would be a great DTL kit. But as it stands for me it is a perfect MTL low power kit. In MTL mode it works a dream.

I can’t help but giggle at the name –  sorry I am a child.

Key Features

As I’ve already established the Titan’s stand out feature is allowing the vaper to switch between the two vaping styles.

The kit includes x2 drip tips – the wider for DTL and obviously the narrower for MTL.

The coils are 100% organic cotton and do indeed give a nice flavour profile. Thery’re also colour coded making it easier for you to remember which is the sub-ohm and which is MTL.

You get a 0.5ohm coil [blue ring] and a 1.0ohm coil [green ring] and as this isn’t a variable wattage device. The Titan decides the amount of wattage/voltage required to fire up the coils – easy peasy!

So the real key feature of the Titan is its simplicity and indeed its size and design.

Build and Design Quality

At just 122mm tall and extremely light the EPuffer Titan sits beautifully in the hand – perfect for stealthy vaping – and the design is really quite beautiful.

It’s a top fill design holding 3mls you simply screw off the stainless steel drip-tip to reveal six juice fill holes.

I have to say here though if you don’t have a needle point e-liquid bottle OR a bottle you can put your juice in with one you might struggle and it could get messy if you aren’t careful – those holes although there’s a ton of them are tiny!!!

The longish drip tip sits above a wonderful cut-out effect tank with the adjustable airflow ring at the base – this really does stay in place well.

I do like the six punched out ‘gripping’ holes on the airflow ring not only do they make it much easier to open and close they look good too.

The battery has the charge port just above the base and the etching of EPuffer and its logo only adds to its good looks.

I have to say I’m loving the Titan’s design and the build quality is exceptional.

You only get one battery with the kit but it does have pass through which means you can technically vape whilst it’s charging.

However the mini usb cable supplied is extremely short and to test that out I had to perform some gymnastics – not easy with my bad back lol.

How Does the EPuffer Titan Perform?

5 clicks on and 5 clicks off – no other use for the button apart of course from firing.

Remember this device recognizes the coil you’ve got in there and adjusts the power accordingly – so sit back and vape.

I’m very pleasantly surprised at how the Titan vaped.

This really is a vaping hybrid [a box mod and vaporizer crossover] done well.

The tank produces decent flavour with both coils and drip tips and I was extremely surprised by the amount of vapor I achieved.

I had no leaking whatsoever charging was ultra-fast.

What I Like

I love the design – the tank looks great with those cut out windows showing just how much e-liquid you have left.

It’s light but still feels good in the hand if you get what I mean!

Unlike other vape pen style devices and indeed a few of the hybrids out there the EPuffer Titan is a lot smaller and fits easily in your hand – bag or pocket [turn off first!].

This little guy packs a punch and does it with style – they should have called it the Bond – Titan Bond.

Speaking of James Bond that’s a bottle of Appletini e-liquid [not Martini sadly] that came with the device and if you like ‘dem apples this e-juice is sharp but sweet leaving your mouth refreshed – very nice.

What I Don’t Like

There’s not a lot to not like about the Epuffer Titan it is what it is and a very good job it does too.

Maybe one little moan and that’s the juice fill holes – they really are tiny and you can find yourself making a bit of a mess.

Final Review Verdict

This is a very nice piece of vaping kit.

It is absolutely perfect for both new and intermediate vapers and to be honest even if you’re a more advanced user this little device can’t fail to impress you.

It’s sleek – stylish – compact and would fit nicely in your suit jacket pocket.

If I dropped this off Mount Olympus would I replace it?

Indeed I would.

Introduction: EPuffer E-Liquid Range

The EPuffer E-liquid range is from company who have their headquarters in the UK!

EPuffer design, manufacture and distribute vaping devices and E-liquid to 26 countries.

They have 2 ranges of their own brand e-liquid the Premium Series and the Vapour Max Line. There are a lot of flavours to choose from in both ranges.

So for review we got a selection from both of the ranges!

I was sent 9 different flavours in 10ml sealed bottles to try:

• Blueberry Custard
• Cinnamon Danish
• Strawberry Shortcake
• Vanilla Root Beer
• Midnight Pleasure
• Cassis
• Premium Tobacco
• Canadian Tobacco
• Menthol

The Blueberry Custard, Cinnamon Danish, Strawberry Shortcake and Vanilla Root Beer are from the Vapour Max Range.

PG/VG Content

The PG/VG content varies with each liquid so will explain as I go through them.

For an explanation of VG and PG in E-liquids read here.

As the Epuffer  e-liquids differ in mixtures – I am using different devices to test them – high VG liquids are better in Sub Ohm equipment designed for thicker liquids and vice versa.

Nicotine Strengths

Now for nicotine strengths – this is where it gets confusing…

The Cassis for instance is a 10ml bottle so when it says it is 0.6% with 12mg nicotine I am massively confused?

Usually 12mg would give 1.2mg per ml. This is really making my head hurt – so therefore 1.2mg per ml would be 12% or 1.2%? Oh god I am even more confused now.

The E-puffer website has a guide below each E-liquid for instance this is below the Cassis…

“Cigarettes Equivalent Nicotine Strengths – (Per Bottle Content)

• 1.0mg – (2.0% per bottle)
• 0.6mg – (1.2% per bottle )
• 0mg – (0% per bottle )”

So reading that – it is comparing the nicotine to that in a cigarette? They state they use a

“New! TNC (True Nicotine Content) formula, is now calculated & rated per/unit basis”

Taste

If you read my article about Nicotine Salts and how I used them to give up smoking you will see it has only been 10 weeks since I finally kicked the tobacco out of my life.

As a result my tastebuds are playing up slightly so I did have to seek a second opinion for this review – so meet my glamorous taste assistant Jamie.

Blueberry Custard

This smells absolutely delicious it really does. Yum looking forward to this one!

Well this is a bit odd. There is a weird background taste to this. There is definitely the blueberry which is lovely. But there is a weird almost musty aftertaste which is not pleasant.

Gutted if this tasted like it smelt it would have been 10/10.

Cinnamon Danish

As someone who really detests Cinnamon (and Coffee if you really care haha) I handed this over to my glamorous assistant to find out if this tasted as described.

Phew looks like I dodged a bullet too – so sorry Jamie – here is his opinion…

“The cinnamon Danish was more Danish than cinnamon and there was that doughy sickly savoury flavour I really dislike.”

He gave it 3/10!

Strawberry Shortcake

This is beautiful, lovely smooth taste and the VG makes this much smoother on the throat.

I can taste the beautiful sweet strawberries and a slight hint of the shortbread.

Really tasty but not sickly in anyway and I have been happily vaping tank after tank of this so a great all day vape.

Vanilla Root Beer

Have you ever heard such a “Porn-y” name for an e-liquid! EPuffer Midnight Pleasure! Sounds like it should be in an Ann Summers brochure!

A sniff of this gave me “Pear Drops” straight away – yum!

However a vape of this is super ice cold – in fact the coldest menthol liquid I think I have ever tried!

There is a back note of this pear drop taste which must be what “cotton candy” is – I did think cotton candy was the US name for Candyfloss?

This is a lovely vape but I think a few hours of this could get a bit sickly. Plus the high PG did batter my throat a bit!

Cassis

70% PG / 30% VG 0.6mg Nicotine

I say….

So I tried this one in the Eleaf Pico Baby – and it is lovely. A bit mild on the taste – however this is designed for low power MTL devices so you won’t ever get huge taste.

I can taste and smell the apples and blackcurrant and you get a good throat hit from this too.

Personally I do have concerns about the high level of PG in this – as this makes the E-liquid very thin which could cause leaks and also if you have PG intolerance it could irritate you. I do get a sore throat from too much PG so I am having to go steady with this one.

Premium Tobacco

70% PG / 30% VG 12mg Nicotine

I say….

At first sniff this is one of the nicer smelling tobacco e-liquids I have had my hooter around. I generally find I dislike the smell of a lot of tobacco liquids and find them “chemically”.

This one has a vanilla tobacco smell.

Vaping the Premium Tobacco is a good experience – for me anyway it is one of the best tobacco flavour liquids I have tried. Like the smell this is a warm vanilla tobacco rather than a synthetic chemical style. I like this a lot!

I rarely give 10 out of 10 for a tobacco flavour!

Canadian Tobacco

70% PG / 30% VG 12mg Nicotine

I say….

This has a much deeper and more chocolatey type smell. Again not unpleasant for a Tobacco flavour which is a nice surprise!

It is a really “Old School” flavour – like the early e-liquids from many years ago – but nicer!

There is a rich nutty vibe to this one and it is a strong tobacco more of a pipe type flavour.

I would also say there is a slight after taste of Digestive Biscuits which I wasn’t expecting! Not bad at all – but slightly musty for my liking.

Cool Mist Menthol 

70% PG / 30% VG 12mg Nicotine

This smells exactly like opening a packet of Polo mints!

Imagine eating a whole packet of Polo’s then drinking an ice cold glass of water.

Yep this is how the Cool Mist Menthol feels – right there.

Cold, minty and really icy!

Final Verdict

I do have to say EPuffer might need to look at their packaging and website info.

The packaging and labels do not state what VG/PG proportion the liquids are – I have already made an error using a high VG liquid in a MTL tank which caused coil damage. It did not say anywhere on the packaging what the mixture was.

Also the nicotine strength labelling is just so confusing. I have been vaping for years on and off and even I am confused about the strengths. How on earth would a new vaper understand?

The Epuffer e-liquid taste is generally as described and the high VG liquids are a pleasure to vape. The high PG ones have lovely strong taste but are really harsh on the throat I found.

In The Box

Build Quality & Design

The Magnum Snaps kit batteries are some of the smallest batteries available on a cig-a-like e cigarette. There are two in this kit, one with a blue tip and one with a red tip that glows when taking a draw.

The batteries themselves have a smooth black finish that are nice to the touch. Unlike other mini e cigarettes I have tried the connection between the cartridges and the batteries is magnetic rather than a screw thread.

It works a treat as well, the magnetic connection is firm so once the cartridge snaps into place there is very little movement.

With the cartridge and the battery combined you have a small e cig measuring approximately 3.7 inches.

The battery life of the Epuffer Snaps is, not surprisingly, poor. This is simply down to the size of the battery which is very small for an e cig.

The saving grace with this is that it comes included with the E Pack.

Portable Charging Case / E Pack

Otherwise known as a PCC, the E Pack is a case that not only carries around two batteries and two cartridges but it also charges one battery while it’s in the case.

This is a must have when it comes to a mini e cigarette kit like this. The reason being is that the battery life of the e cigarettes themselves is short. Moderate to heavy vapers will be looking to charge their e cigarette battery every 1.5 hours.

The PCC helps with this. Simply keep one battery in the magnetic charging slot and simply swap the batteries when needed. As long as you keep the E Pack PCC charged then you shouldn’t reach a point where you run out of power on your e cig battery.

The PCC itself is a 540 mAh battery so this should recharge around 4 batteries.

It’s a nice slim PCC with a rubberized finish that slips in and out of the pocket easily. It also has a satisfying ‘snap’ closing lid.

PCC Functions

• When battery is charging in the E Pack the battery tip will glow. When battery is fully charged light will go out
• Press the button on side of E Pack to display the E Pack charge level
• Press and hold the same button to activate flash light on the base of the pack
• Micro USB Charge slot on the base to charge the PCC

So it’s all very straightforward to use and it all works well. As long as you keep the E Pack PCC fully charged and ready before going out you should encounter few issues.

How Does The Snaps E Cigarette Perform?

The kit I received for review came with three tobacco tester cartridges and I was also sent two packs of spare cartridges. One pack of Premium Tobacco and one Mocca Cafe with caramel, both in 6 mg nicotine strength.

The Premium Tobacco is a 70PG / 30VG mix and a subtle tobacco flavor that gives a smooth throat hit with the 6mg nicotine. I’m not a huge fan of tobacco flavors but this I found easy to vape and the flavor did a good job replicating the real thing.

The Caffe Mocca Caramel flavor is a 60PG/40VG mix. I really enjoyed this flavor, by far my personal pick of the two. A subtle coffee on the inhale with the caramel finishing off things nicely on the exhale.

Both flavors have test results on their sales page showing that the Premium Tobacco is free from Diacetyl and Acetyl Propionyl and the Caffe Mocca free from AP.

The vapor volume is decent, you won’t be winning any cloud competitions but for a cig-a-like it certainly does the trick.

With moderate to heavy vaping the cartridges lasted around 1 – 1.5 days for me which was good.

Epuffer also sell blank cartridges for those that would rather use their own e juice and refill themselves.

I haven’t tried these but from blank cig-a-like cartridges I have tried before will allow you to refill anything from 5 – 15 times. It all depends on a number of factors including the type of e liquid used.

Final Epuffer Magnum Snaps Review Verdict

The Epuffer Magnum Snaps kit is, for a cig-a-like, a good kit. I know there are still many smokers out there that want to start on a smaller e cigarette for their first step into vaping.

If that is you then this kit is a good choice. It’s ‘plug and play’ easy to use and allows you to be up and running in no time.
