Today I’m taking a look at the new Digiflavor Drop RDA V2.

Digiflavor Drop V2 RDA hand check picWell, well, well. It’s been quite a while since I’ve had the pleasure of going over an RDA.

Is it me or are there fewer and fewer being released these days?

.. Never used to be the case.

From 2014 onwards rebuildable drippers were extremely popular among hobbyist vapers. That passion for alternative build decks, post design and airflow structure would project into the years that followed.

In 2017 and having already been established by Geekvape, Digiflavor released the original Drop RDA. A rebuildable in partnership with Brian from The Vapers Chronicles Youtube channel.

Delivering fantastic flavour, it became an overnight success. The way the coil legs simply dropped into the post holes was inspirational and opened the door to aspiring builders.

The Drop 1.5 would follow with an altered airflow configuration while retaining the post design of the original.

Our Neil Humber described the original Drop as ‘close to perfect’. Fellow reviewer Kevin Jeffrey couldn’t ask for more when testing the Drop 1.5.

Does the gush fest continue with the Digiflavor Drop V2? Let’s find out.

What Can We Expect From the Digiflavor Drop RDA V2?

The Drop RDA V2 retains the same 24mm diameter as its predecessors so we get the same build deck area to play around with.

The same four post / dual coil configuration also means some rather chunky builds can be laid down.

.. Or dropped down.

Drop V2 RDA build deckIt’s all metal which means optimal and efficient conductivity with the coils and the airflow arrangement has altered from a predominant honeycomb structure to a horizontal, linear style.

So expect a broader range of airflow options for direct to lung (DTL) through to restricted direct lung (RDL) use. We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.

Drop V2 RDA airflowProbably the biggest difference is the shape of the barrel itself. Digiflavor refer to it as the space capsule design.

As a consequence the Drop RDA takes on a completely different appearance.

drop rda range
Evolution of the Drop RDA. From left to right: original Drop, Drop 1.5, Drop V2

A squonk pin is included so as not to upset the squonkers among us.

In fact, Digiflavor has been quite generous. A tri tool, spare grub screws, rubber washers and four coils/cotton aglets all make it into the box.

I’d have ditched the silicone gel bag for a coil trimming tool, any day! 😉

So the Drop RDA V2 comes in six diverse colour schemes. Pick from Silver, Gunmetal, Black, Blue, Rainbow or Violet.

Digiflavor Drop RDA V2 – Design and Build Quality

Starting at the top we’ve got a low profile 810 Delrin drip tip. In keeping with the airflow structure its a wide bore, tapering down to 8mm inside.

It fits snuggly inside the catch cup, reliant on a single O-ring of decent tolerance.

O ring inside the catch cup of the Drop V2 RDAIt can be swapped for ones of your own but some will fit better than others.

Drop V2 RDA – Exterior

The area directly beneath the drip tip is how the Drop V2 gets its space capsule moniker. I do think it breaks up the aesthetical, unbroken appearance of the original. It looks like a removable top cap but it’s not.

It serves another purpose.

Knurling around the perimeter provides grip for making the finest of adjustment to airflow.

Turning counter clockwise will gradually open the lower tier, followed by the upper. Continue turning and both tiers start to close simultaneously.

I have to say the turning tolerances are on par and as silky smooth as it gets.

Adjustable airflow structure pf Drop V2 RDA
The bottom tier remains open at all times regardless of airflow adjustment.

So the actual diameter of the Drop V2 RDA is 24.4mm but tapers down to 22mm at the very base. It never quite feels like its sitting flush on a Mod – but of course, it is.

Digiflavor branding resides on one side with the now familiar DROP logo on the other.

A protruding gold plated 510 pin on the base makes connection with a Mod of choice. It’s mech Mod ready but can also be replaced with the included squonk pin if that’s your bag.

Protruding 510 pin on Drop V2 RDA

Drop V2 RDA – Interior

Double O-rings encircle the outer perimeter of the build deck. Initially they feel quite tight when removing the barrel. E-juice lubrication and time will soon solve that minor issue though.

Dual O ring and 4 post design of the Drop V2 RDAA quick look at the build deck shows how the four post arrangement differs from the previous two versions of the Drop.

These posts are solidly built and there’s no way of trimming coil legs from below once dropped in.

In fact, although the height of the posts measure 12mm the coil leg drops in around half way.

Overview of the deck of the Drop V2 RDA
The barrel retaining notches either side ensure airflow hits the coils head on.

So more care and attention will be needed when finding the perfect height for the coils.

The post holes measure 4mm x 3mm meaning you’ll be able to put some pretty exotic builds in. They’re tightened down on the sides by flat head grub screws.

Not my favourite – take care not to over tighten them. Although spares are included they can strip quite easily.

The juice well is around 5mm deep so you should get an adequate number of toots between dripping.

The airflow barrel spins freely inside the main chamber and various cut outs dictate the shape and passage of airflow as it hits the coils side on.

Press fit inner airflow barrel of the Drop V2 RDAThere’s also a degree of doming for airflow travelling up towards the drip tip. That usually helps to boost flavour.

Quick Start Guide

How To Build On the Drop RDA V2

The first thing to do is remove the barrel from the deck. To do this, screw the RDA onto a Mod or atomiser stand (as shown) and pull the barrel off the build deck.

Removing the barrel from the deck of Drop V2 RDA

Using the included tri tool, carefully unscrew all the flat head grub screws by turning counter clockwise.

Unscrewing the grub screws of the Drop V2 RDAKeep an eye on your progress while doing this. Don’t loosen them to the point of falling clear of the post. Unscrew them to where they’re flush with the inside of the post.

Four grub screws loosened on the Drop V2 RDAThis will ensure adequate clearance when dropping the coil legs inside. Speaking of coil legs the ones supplied are far too long.

So they need to be snipped to size. As a rough guide cut them to half their original length. This should provide enough depth to seat and position them.

Snipping the coil legs of the Drop V2 RDADrop the coil legs into the post holes as far as they’ll go. Use the flat of a finger to hold the coil in position and carefully tighten down the grub screws.

Finger tight!

Don’t force the screws. You’ll feel them biting down on the coil legs as you tighten.

Inserting the coils into the Drop V2 RDA

Don’t worry if the coils take on a distorted shape. The next stage is correcting and positioning.

Adjusting coil positions on the Drop V2 RDA

A screwdriver or equivalent is all that’s needed. Manipulate the coils into their correct position on the build deck.

It’s trial and error. You want the coils to look symmetrical. Like a mirror image. Both pushed slightly over into the deck and at the same height.

Allow a gap of at least a few millimetres between them.

Correct coil positioning on the Drop V2 RDA

Now’s the time to attach the build deck to a Mod.

Begin by setting the wattage output of the Mod quite low. Around 20W is a good starting point. Gently pulse the coils with rapid presses of the fire button.

As the coil responds by heating up, check for hot spots. If you find any, gently stroke the coil with the head of a screwdriver. That’s usually enough to remove them.

Also pay close attention to the resistance of the coils. To begin with it’s likely to be bouncing around but eventually they should settle in at a solid 0.2ohm or thereabouts.

Checking the Drop V2 RDA for hotspotsTake one of the included cotton aglets and cut it in half. I found one aglet enough for both coils.

Feed one end through the coil, making sure the length is even at both ends.

Installing cotton into the coils of the Drop V2 RDA

Trim the ends of the cotton but leave enough length to drop down into the juice well of the deck.

Gently rake the cotton. This thins and removes any inconsistencies. Then gently fold it down into the juice well. Try not to cram or stuff the cotton in.

Raking the cotton of the Drop V2 RDA

Now’s the time to apply E-liquid directly onto the coils and cotton. You can be quite liberal at this point. Saturate that cotton!

Soaking the coils and cotton of the Drop V2 RDA

After doing this you may want to test fire the RDA – my favourite step!

If everything is good, you’ll notice spits, crackling and major cloudage. Not to mention a heavenly flavour aroma!

The final step is pushing the barrel back onto the deck and clicking it into place.

Job done!

How Does the Digiflavor Drop RDA V2 Perform?

I partnered the Drop RDA V2 with the SX Mini SL Class V2, not only for aesthetic appeal but because the Yihi SX730J is an extremely reliable chip.

Drop RDA V2 partnered with the SX Mini SL Class V2

The included Ni80 fused Clapton coils were used and after pairing, came in with a resistance value of exactly 0.2ohm.

Flavour Replication

Fantastic! I ran a few different flavour profiles through the RDA and they all delivered the goods.

Strawberries and cream were very realistic with the fruit projecting plenty of natural sweetness. It felt just like biting down on the real thing.

Being able to vape at 65W meant that the cream was warm and inviting on the exhale – Just like a full blown dessert should taste.

Custard based vapes were equally as impressive. Vanilla was the lynchpin throughout and all the complex dairy notes blended perfectly. No flavour nuance seems to get overlooked.

Added warmth to the inhale only helps to heighten the overall enjoyment.

Fruit vapes are vibrant and punchy. They taste very clean and when factoring in Menthol or Aniseed, don’t lose any clarity. Cooling vapes are just that. They act more to complement the flavour as opposed to engulfing it.

A clear example of this is when the airflow is positioned wide open.

I’ve mentioned flavour blending and no more an accurate representation can be found than when testing Tobacco based profiles.

Whether nutty, woody, musky, containing vanilla or hints of caramel – they’re all traceable and work together. It was easy to separate mediocre e-liquids from those more complex.

Nothing seems to escape this RDA!

Vapour Production

As good as it gets.

The Drop RDA V2 isn’t exactly shy when it comes to vapour production. Inhaling for a few seconds soon produces a warm thump to the throat – so you know it’s going to be a cloud fest!

That warmth remains throughout the entire vape – very pleasing to dessert lovers like myself.

You might want to take stock of your environment too. Those clouds will start hanging in wavy lines without adequate ventilation.

.. Always the sign of a sound airflow structure!

Airflow

There’s no stopping it. Primarily because the bottom slots are permanently open. If you opt only for those, expect the perfect restrictive lung hit.

Even with just one of the adjustable airflow slots open that restriction isn’t lifted much. It’s my preferred setting so I was in my element from the get go. In other words it took seconds to find my personal sweet spot.

There’s no fiddling around with this RDA.

Opening the airflow further produces a direct lung vape with around 20% overall restriction. The clouds are starting to thicken but there’s no rain in sight!

Oddly enough there’s still just a smidgen of restriction when set wide open. I’d say 5% – 10% but cloud lovers will undoubtedly be in their element.

And of course it’s where the coolest vapes can be found. Great for sweet and fruit profiles, detrimental to my beloved dessert based flavours.

..You can’t have everything!

Regardless of airflow constraints the Drop RDA V2 consistently delivers flavour. Admittedly it’s more concentrated on semi restrictive settings but still great across the board.

Wide open airflow does tend to produce a partially diluted, broader flavour so maybe worth considering if you want to space out sweetness levels. Or for when other settings produce too much flavour intensity.

Turbulence

None whatsoever. The Drop V2 produces one of the silkiest, smoothest inhales I’ve come across in an RDA. In fact it impressed me as much as the flavour and vapour production.

No whistling, no fluctuation and no spit back. Doming inside the chimney no doubt helps and it certainly plays a role with flavour intensity. Very impressive.

Pros

  • Excellent flavour and vapour production
  • Silky smooth airflow
  • Effective semi restrictive or direct lung vape
  • Turning tolerances on the top cap
  • Easy to build on

Cons

  • Tapering at the base may be an issue for some
  • Doesn’t carry aesthetic appeal of the original Drop RDA
  • Can’t snip the coil legs from beneath posts
  • Flat head grub screws may be prone to stripping

Final Review Verdict

If you’re after a true semi restrictive lung hit simply rely on the permanently open airflow slots. It’s as simple as that. No further adjustments need to be made.

I was highly impressed by the results straight out the gate.

The flavour was clean, the airflow smooth and vapour production immensely satisfying.

So the Drop V2 is an RDA for those that appreciate subtle flavour notes, complexity and depth from their vapes. It leaves nothing to chance and all the hard work some of these juice manufacturers put in really gets the chance to shine.

Of course a direct lung vape is also possible to open out the spaces between Menthol and sweet based profiles.

One final note. As expected, the O-rings around the deck soon loosen up in the presence of E-liquid. Removing the barrel becomes an easy task.

The turning tolerance around the knurled top cap remains exceptionally good.

I’m actually torn between what’s better. The silky smooth airflow or jaw dropping flavour.

Is it perfect? Yup. Could I ask for more? Nope.

I think the Drop V2 RDA is a humdinger of an RDA!

What To Expect From The Digiflavor Digi-U Pod Kit…

This is a pod kit and the “U” suffix means this is compatible with the Geekvape “U” range of pod kits. They have universal pods which can be swapped between devices.

digi u geekvape u

Sadly the Digiflavor website is not the most informative of places, but thankfully the Geekvape shop has more details! In fact the device has “Geekvape” printed on the side and “Digiflavor” on the front!

Inside the device is a 1000mAh battery which is charged via the USB Type C port. Sadly the charge rate and time are not specified.

The output is stated as 20W maximum, I am not sure if this has any power adjustment or whether the device sets the output according to the coil of the pod installed?

To keep things simple this has auto draw activation – meaning you simply inhale on the mouthpiece and the device will fire!

A great addition is an airflow adjustment slider to give you options of airflow restriction.

digi u airflow

There is a mention of a low voltage warning, so I assume there is some kind of indicator light somewhere – again the lack of info has me just guessing!

The pods come in 2 resistance options 0.7ohm and 1.1ohm. You get both pods included in the kit.

Plus you get a funky lanyard!

A side port gives access for refilling and it appears all pods have the same 2ml capacity.

The Digiflavor DF DU Pod Kit is a fancy new starter kit with some great features.

df du banner

Despite being quiet for a few years Digiflavor came back with a bang with the Siren V4 MTL RTA, XP 77 Kit, S G MTL Tube and Drop 1.5 RDA.

More Details On The Digiflavor DF DU Pod Kit…

As mentioned in the press release – this kit is to celebrate Digiflavor sponsoring the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in the Asian Le Mans race.Digiflavor Le Mans

So you can see the AMR (Aston Martin Racing) livery is present on this kit.

Unfortunately the Digiflavor website is not exactly the most informative – in fact most of the info in this review comes from the Geekvape Store page!df du features

What I do know is there are 2 main components to the kit, the pod and the battery.

Firstly looking at the battery there is a 1100mAh internal battery which is charged at up to 1A charge rate via the USB Type C port.df du battery

As for output this could look a bit confusing – but there are basically 3 power levels available. These depend on which coil you install…

  • 0.6ohm coil = 14, 15 or 16W
  • 1.2ohm coil = 10, 11 or 12W.

The operation is simple as this has “auto draw” which basically means just suck on the mouthpiece and away you go. Oh and the drip tip is “nipple shaped”…

At the base of the device is a ring shaped LED to inform of battery capacity remaining. This can be a solid light or a breathing (pulsing) light – you change this setting by sucking on the mouthpiece.

The pod is refillable with up to 2ml of your own e-liquid via the side fill port.

A great feature is that the coils are replaceable. This uses the Geekvape G-Series coil range which are also compatible with the Wenax Stylus, Wenax C1 and G18 Starter kit.df du pod

Here is a brief video from the Geekvape Store YouTube channel.

There is only 1 colour option at the moment and that is the Le Mans Livery finish.

Kit Includes

  • Digiflavor DF DU Device and pod
  • 2x 0.6ohm G-Series coils

  • E-liquid capacity: 2ml
  • USB Type C – 1A charge rate
  • Pods: Refillable replaceable coils
  • Coils: Geekvape G-Series coil range

This is a cute looking kit and the fact it is compatible with the Geekvape G-Series coils is also brilliant!

The Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA review marks virgin territory for me, although I’m well aware of their products I’ve never used one, so I have no idea as to what to expect.

Digiflavor is a Shenzen based manufacturer who were established back in 2016 by parent company Geekvape, with the moto of “It’s time to make the world better” it wasn’t long before their first Siren MTL tank hit the vape market.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA hand check pic 1

In 2017 the Digiflavor Siren 25 GTA, a dedicated single coil MTL RTA was released boasting a 5ml juice capacity. Reviewer John Summers was pretty smitten with it.

A year later, our Laura-ann Burgess took us through the ins and outs of the Siren 2 GTA. The reduced tank capacity was more than compensated for by an upgraded build deck. This meant more room for a larger coil – it was even possible to achieve a restrictive direct lung vape.

In 2020 the Siren 3 GTA made a guest appearance as part of the Digiflavor Z1 SBS kit. The side mounted screws were ditched in favour of top mounted. This improved the build process by making coil installation much simpler.

It’s been said that Geekvape created Digiflavor as a way of catering exclusively for the MTL vaper.

The Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA certainly galvanises that ideology by going full circle. It repeats the same width, GTA style build deck and two post design of the five year old original.

What Can We Expect From the Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA?

It looks like the build deck will accommodate anything up to a 3mm inner diameter coil.

So we shouldn’t necessarily expect to be running with ultra low wattage typically associated with MTL vaping, that’s the fun of experimenting with coil builds.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA boxed image

The tiny yet well balanced honeycomb airflow structure built into the deck will have an impact on cloud production.

It’s likely to be improved somewhat if using micro coils or diameters of around 2 – 2.5mm. So expect coil sizes to have an impact.

The height of the tank has been shrunk over previous versions. Expect step doming and close proximity of the coil to the drip tip to increase and concentrate the flavour.

Inside the Box

I’m sure this is a review edition so the external packaging is likely to differ should you decide to partake.

An outer sleeve features a simplistic Digiflavor logo with branding on either side.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA unboxed

Removing this reveals the inner packaging and a lid that’s easily pulled off. Inside we get:

  • Siren V4 MTL RTA
  • Clapton Ni80 1.2ohm coil
  • Fused Clapton Ni80 1.4ohm coil
  • Braided coil KA1 0.65ohm
  • Fused Clapton SS316L 1.0ohm coil
  • 4 x cotton aglet
  • Spare 510 drip tip
  • Accessory bag
  • Instruction manual

Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA – Key Features

It features a raised GTA style build deck for efficient under coil wicking and improved flavour.

A top mounted post screw and clamp design make installing and trimming the coil much easier.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA logo on side of packaging

The semi hidden linear bottom airflow has been designed for even distribution of airflow while also preventing leakage. The AFC ring incorporates a red marker to denote the level of MTL airflow restriction.

Micro knurling has been etched into the tank in various places, allowing for easy removal of parts for maintenance and cleaning.

There’s a choice of four different colour schemes which are Black, Stainless steel, Rainbow and Gunmetal (under review).

Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA – Specifications

I noticed some confusion as to the height of the RTA when checking with various sites.

There seemed to be some conflicting specs, most probably due to including the drip tip with their calculations.

  • Material Stainless steel
  • Weight 43g
  • Height 28.5mm (without drip tip)
  • Diameter 22mm
  • Tank material PEI
  • Tank capacity 2ml
  • Airflow Adjustable
  • Deck Single coil two post GTA design
  • Thread 510

Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA – Design and Build Quality

It’s been suggested in the past that earlier versions of the RTA have also been able to offer a restrictive direct lung vape.

Nothing of the design and build quality of this latest offering would suggest anything other than a dedicated MTL vaping product.

To begin with there’s the radical difference in height. From the top cap to the underside of the deck the tank measures a mere 28.5mm.

That doesn’t make it much taller than my beloved OFRF Gear RTA – my all time favourite single coil MTL device.

Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA Drip Tips

Pick from a choice of two, and thank vape heaven for that because the extended drip tip is a complete monstrosity.

At around 23mm in height it looks totally out of place and does much to tarnish the aesthetics of the tank.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA close up of extended 510 drip tip

The narrow bores of both measure around 3mm so heavy airflow restriction is the order of the day from these 510 drip tips.

Two O rings are included so they both sit snug inside the catch cup of the top cap. This does mean you can replace either with a choice of your own – I did!

510 Connector Pin

The gold plated 510 connector protrudes and is surrounded by a thin ring of peak insulation.

It will allow for coupling with a hybrid mod if that’s your bag.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA gold plated 510 pin

A MTL device on a hybrid mod? Nah – not for me..

On the base is the Digiflavor logo alongside the product serial number.

Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA Top Cap and Fill Ports

It’s a very tidy arrangement with the top cap, facilitated by some fine micro knurling. The threading is butter smooth and very well engineered.

It only takes a few counter clockwise turns to release the top cap. There was a distinct absence of grinding, crunching or squeaking – great build quality.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA top cap unscrewed from tank section

The steel plating on the underside has a finish as smooth as glass although I did notice a degree of chatter around the fill ports themselves.

The Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA incorporates two kidney shaped fill ports each measuring approximately 7mm wide. There shouldn’t be any issues with bottle nozzle sizes.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA kidney shaped fill ports

Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA Airflow Design

This one had me flummoxed to begin with!

Although there’s airflow adjustability, I couldn’t quite fathom out how it worked.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA red airflow adjustment indicator

It wasn’t until I removed the AFC ring that it made any sense.

There are a series of “hidden” airflow slots that sit behind the control ring. They’re all the same size and representative of the Digiflavor Linear airflow structure.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA hidden airflow structure

The AFC ring has a notch carved into its side so when positioned will open or close the airflow slots. The external red marker indicates the degree of restriction.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA airflow control ring removed showing airflow notch

The Tank

It’s 2ml in line with current TPD regulations and made from PEI which is similar to PEEK material but less resistant to higher temperatures.

As a thermoplastic it’s usually transparent or amber in colour with a high degree of rigidity.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA PEI tank close up image

I’ve two issues with this tank. First it lacks much of a viewing window and secondly it’s difficult to gauge just how much of the tank has been filled.

I’m forced to squint down the fill port to check the levels. I couldn’t find any way of removing the PEI for cleaning either. So maybe that should read three issues lol.

Inside the Tank

It’s more a case of stepped doming on the inner chimney and maybe a little less than I was expecting.

The machine quality here though is top notch and looks very high end.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA inner doming of the chimney section

There are three juice flow ports incorporated around the inner threading allowing juice to drop beneath the raised deck. The cotton wicks are perpetually gravity fed.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA inside the chimney

GTA Style Build Deck

Now we move onto the star of the show, the build deck.

It retains the same GTA style as its predecessors, and by being raised it allows the wicks to be fed from a 5mm deep juice well surrounding it.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA build deck pic 1

The two slotted post screws are gold plated but look soft and fragile. Only time will tell if they are easily stripped. They also look a little out of place but since they’re hidden it’s no real biggie.

In the centre of the deck sits a circular honeycomb airflow intake, the strength of which is influenced via the Linear AFC ring.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA top down view of GTA style build deck

On either side of this are the juice wicking ports, constantly supplied by that deep juice well.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA – How To Build and Wick

Hopefully!

I’m not the best and certainly not the most patient given that my eyesight is rapidly failing me! lol

First things first. Remove the deck from the tank by unscrewing clockwise.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA unscrewing the post screws

Loosen both post screws so that the coil legs are able to pass through the clamps.

Position the coil legs through the clamps and carefully tighten the post screws.

The coil needs to be sitting directly above the air intake and at a height of around 2mm off the deck.

RTA coil positioning inside post clamps

Trim away the excess of coil leg as close to the sides of the build deck as possible. This will avoid any possible shorting through contact with the inner chimney.

RTA trimming the coil legs flush

Preferably using a dedicated build tab slowly dry pulse the coil. Ensure all hot spots are removed. If they persist try strumming the coil surface with an appropriate tool.

The coil needs to heat up evenly from the centre outwards.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA test firing the coilOnce the coil has cooled down pass a cotton aglet through its centre. Make sure it fits snug but not so tight as to deform the coil.

Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA pulling the cotton through the coilTrim the cotton aglet to a length that allows it to sit within the juice wicking ports. You won’t need much and you shouldn’t need to thin/rake it.

trimming the cotton to suitable sizeSaturate the cotton and the coil with E juice.

priming the cotton before placing into positionGently tuck the ends of the saturated cotton into the wicking ports making sure not to pack too tightly. There needs to be space for E liquid to circulate in and around the cotton.

RTA positioning the cotton after primingIt’s time to test fire the coil again. We’re checking for any last minute problems with shorting, wicking or vapour production.

RTA priming and test firing the cotton and coilOnce you’re happy with everything, screw the tank back onto build deck.

You’re ready to vape!

Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA – How Does It Perform?

Before we move onto flavour and cloud replication I feel I must mention the included coils.

They’re very soft and malleable which makes them prone to damage.

RTA MTL fused Clapton and Clapton included coils

Because of this I had a nightmare trying to install them. It wasn’t helped by the post clamp system as there was no way of holding them in place. On multiple occasions the coil legs simply pulled free.

When I finally did manage to secure them the level of distortion had rendered them useless. Any attempts at straightening them proved fruitless.

For this reason I opted to use my own MTL coil which was more robust.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s rare for a manufacturer to be so generous with coils but they just didn’t work for this impatient bugger!

Digiflavor Siren V4 Flavour and Cloud Production

The coil used was a Wotofo fused Clapton with an inner diameter of 2.5mm. It’s the smallest coil I could find but was a good fit for the build deck.

I used Riot Squad Sweet Strawberry which contained a hybrid nicotine content. I coupled it with the Voopoo Drag X Plus Pro running at 20W.

With airflow wide open I did notice a minor degree of turbulence but no spit back so that was a positive start, any attempts at a restrictive lung hit fell on very un-vape like ground.

– That’s to say it caused a few nasty coughing fits.

On this setting the flavour was already sparkling with lots of clarity, strawberry notes were clean and tasty.

I couldn’t even suggest this to be an airy MTL, it was just a very good starting point.

Other Airflow Adjustments

I dialed the airflow down to around mid restriction.

The tank began making more crackling sounds but again the flavour held up fantastically well.

This setting pretty much provided the perfect MTL vape.

I was able to recycle more of the vapour instead of it escaping out into the surrounding air. It was both was light and wispy, something any reformed smoker will appreciate.

So there was a accurate representation of the draw from a cigarette. It had a slight throat kick on this wattage setting but vapour production still remained discreet.

When closing the airflow further the vape was a little too tight but not enough to put the vape hardened MTL vaper off.

I felt the flavour starting to become more suppressed although still very good with the cooling agent tickling the taste buds.

It would also become a bit on the harsh side. I did notice mild throat irritation despite the hybrid nicotine content. The smoothness of an open airflow draw had certainly been lost.

I would recommend using juice ratios of 50VG/50PG in general with the Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA, it’s perfectly suited for the size of coils the build deck caters for.

Just for interest value I tried a 70VG/30PG juice and it didn’t take long for a nasty dry hit to singe the back of the throat. I never learn!

Digiflavor Siren V4 Airflow Observations

The Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA delivers all the airflow options you could ask for.

They range from a slightly airy draw that refuses to cross over into restrictive lung territory to the classic MTL vape well known to any recently converted smoker.

One of the most impressive observations was the accuracy of adjustment when using the Linear style AFC ring. It’s been honed to perfection making it possible to notice airflow differences even with the slightest of tweaks.

None of the airflow options seemed to have too much of an impact on flavour quality either.

Admittedly there was some dilution at higher restriction but by then the vape was too tight to be of use anyway.

Pros

  • Compact design
  • Great build quality – knurling, threading and machining
  • Excellent flavour and cloud production
  • Adjustable linear airflow works an absolute treat
  • No leaking

Cons

  • Difficulty in securing coil under post screws
  • Having to remove the tank from the mod to make airflow adjustments
  • The extended drip tip (subjective)
  • The lack of a viewing window

Final Review Verdict

As previously mentioned I had my fair share of woes installing a coil on the build deck. What normally takes five minutes ended up taking over half an hour.

All because the post screws were failing to clamp the coil down. To add insult to injury the soft gold plated flat head screws were already showing signs of wear and tear.

I think grub screws with standard post holes would have worked much better.

Airflow adjustment was impossible without removing the tank from the mod. I found this a massive annoyance because I’m one for tinkering, and it really shouldn’t be a thing these days.

For a tank that’s design so well I have no idea what Digiflavor were thinking about with the extended drip tip, it’s almost farcical. Either that or I’m just being the usual stick in the mud.

Digiflavor Siren V4 MTL RTA – Overall Performance

What it ultimately comes down to is performance and the Digiflavor Siren V4 RTA delivers by the vape load.

It provides one of the most satisfying MTL vapes I’ve experienced so far in 2021. This is due to the combination of airflow options, consistent flavour across those options and extremely well balanced vapour production.

The honeycomb intake ensures plenty of controlled airflow distribution under the coil which sits not far away from the drip tip itself. Combine this with some pin point tweaking of the airflow control ring and we’re onto a winner as far as flavour properties are concerned.

It’s not for the new vaper by any stretch.

It’s for someone that has knowledge of building, and for those tired of trying to source stock coils for their preferred MTL tank.

Above all it’s for anyone that craves consistency to their flavour across a multitude of mouth to lung airflow options.

So is it better than my beloved OFRF Gear RTA? Hmmmmm…

The excellent flavour qualities are matched to be honest, buthe Digiflavor Siren MTL RTA wins when it comes to build quality.

Digiflavor deliver delights with this one.

The Siren range were created for Mouth To Lung (MTL) vapers and so far there has been the original Siren GTA, Siren 2 GTA, Siren 3 RTA (found in the Z1 SBS Kit) and the recent Siren 4 RTA.

MTL is a vaping style – we tell you more about this in our Guide To MTL and DTL Vaping.

More Details On The Digiflavor S G MTL Tube Kit…

So the kit consists of the new regulated Digiflavor S Tube mod and the new S G (Siren G) MTL tank.

sg tube views

Firstly looking at the Siren G Tank – this is not a rebuildable like the previous versions but this uses the Geekvape G Series coil range – already used in the in the Wenax range, G18 Vape Pen and Aegis Boost kit.siren g coils

The kit includes the 1.2ohm and 1.8ohm G Series coils to get you up and running.

In standard format the tank has a 4ml e-liquid capacity which is refilled via a leak-proof top cap. I have not seen a mention of a 2ml version for release in TPD Regulated areas as yet.siren g tank features

You can adjust the airflow to your preference and Digiflavor say there are 10 different airflow combinations.siren g airflow

The mod is a tube style which can be converted to use either a single 18650 battery or a 18350 battery. As usual the battery is not included.sg tube battery

The output is decided by the mod according to the coil installed but you still have a choice of 3 output levels of Low, Medium and High. An LED indicator informs of the power level selected.s g tube output

A mechanical rotate lock is fitted to the mod – but it is not very clear as to what this actually does. I am not sure if this just locks the fire button to prevent accidental firing or whether this is to prevent the tank being removed to make it childproof?sg tube lock

There is a USB Type C port which can be charged at up to 2A charge rate for use in emergency when an external charger is not available.

There are 4 colours to choose from: Stainless Steel, Gunmetal, Black and Rainbow.

In this review I’m going to be taking a look at the DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA!

I’ve been eagerly awaiting this second version of this popular dual coil 24mm RDA.

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA outside purple

DigiFlavor was established in 2016 by their parent company GeekVape.  Based in Shenzhen China, DigiFlavor has a great reputation for RDA’s and RTA’s, I loved the first version of the Drop RDA so I’m looking forward to seeing what the 1.5 version is all about!

DigiFlavor is also responsible for bring us the Lynx RDA as well as the tiny ETNA RDA, and the Pharaoh RDA all three are great RDA’s in their own right.

DigiFlavor’s latest offerings include the Torch RTA, the Drop Solo 1.5 RDA as well as this one lol.

What Can We Expect From the DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA?

I think I have said in the past I love using RDA’s for the sheer quality of vapour and flavour produced.

Not forgetting the cost effectiveness of using DIY coils.

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA hand check 1

The Drop 1.5 is a dual coil RDA, the build deck reminds me very much of the original Drop RDA deck, it has a new airflow system compared to the original, and the kit comes with everything you need to get started quickly.

DigiFlavor has released the Drop 1.5 RDA in eight gorgeous finishes.

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA design colours

This product was sent to me for the purpose of review.

As always my thoughts and views are my own after a considerable testing period.

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA

As you can see by my photos I was sent the Blue/Black version of the RDA.

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA outside green

Measuring in at 42mm tall, and with a diameter of 24mm, the whole thing is made of Stainless Steel, with the exception of the 810 mouthpiece which is made of black Delrin.

Extras pack includes, Cotton, Ni80 Coils, Replacement Post Screws, BF Pin, O-rings and a T Tool.

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA extras in bags

The Drop 1.5 RDA dismantles into 4 parts including the mouth piece, the base posts are removable for easy cleaning, likewise the 510 connection pin is replaceable for the BF pin should you wish to use this on top of a squonk mod.

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA Cap/ Airflow Ring

Made of Stainless Steel the airflow ring/cap has a lined knurling decoration which has been added around the top for easy movement within the barrel.

The black 810 Delrin mouth piece sits flat to the cap and is held in position by an embedded O ring.

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA cap decoration

The body of the airflow ring has been completely redesigned instead of a graduated cut out airflow as per the original Drop, the RDA now has a set of 36 small holes and a larger slot on each side of the body.

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA body airflow

Inside the airflow cap you will see that it has a dome like effect, so that any condensation or liquid will drop back down to your coils and cotton.

doming in cap

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA Barrel

Again made of stainless steel, DigiFlavor has redesigned the external airflow system, unlike the original that had a T like airflow they have given us 4 parallel slots to each side of the barrel.

airflow barrel

For advertising simply printed on the back and front of the barrel in a large font is the word “DROP”.

Despite the design changes of the barrel they have retained the cut out on the base so the barrel still locks in place with the build deck.

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA Base and Build Deck

On the bottom of the base you will see that DigiFlavor has included all the normal expected info as well as a unique serial number.

The RDA comes with a standard gold plated 510 connection pin which as I said can be swapped out for the bottom fed squonk pin (BF) it’s located within the extras bag, the 510 connection threading has been turned well, while the threaded post is a little small in length the RDA will still function well on most mods.

threaded connection

The sides of the base include 2 projections to seat and lock the barrel in place as well as 2 O-rings that have been seated around the base for easy placement in to the barrel.

deck locking part

While a lot of changes have taken place from the original version of the Drop the build deck hasn’t changed much if any!

We still have the top loading gold plated posts with large wire holes, as for the liquid well I would estimate is about 1.5 to 2mm deep so plenty of room for cotton and liquid.

How Does the DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA Perform?

For this example I will be using the Drop RDA to start with on my OXVA Velocity

And later on my Vandy Vape Pulse 80w squonkhand check

Also because of my nickel allergy, I’m going to use my own DIY Kanthal Clapton coils, 5 wraps which work out to around 0.24Ω!

I will be using Kwik Vape “Lime Slushie” a locally produced E-Liquid to me, see what I thought of it at the end of this review.

Digiflavor Drop 1.5 RDA Quick Start Guide

  • Make your coils or use those in the box, I cut my coil tails while seated in the posts, I also angled my coils inwards towards the centre a wee bit.DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA in coils
  • Pulse and strum the coils.DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA hot coils
  • Load your cotton into the coils – comb and trim – roughly as per my photo!DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA cotton in fluffed
  • Dampen the cotton and tuck into the deck.DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA dampening cotton
  • Add more liquid over the coils and cotton!DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA cotton coils re damp

At this point I like to test fire; I then re-dampen the coils and cotton.fire test

  • Reassemble the Drop 1.5 RDA – and enjoy!

DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA In Use

This version is shaping up to be just as good as the original Drop possibly better because of the new airflow.

As a dual coil deck I found the RDA easy to build on.

mod and dripper

Simply make your coils drop in to the posts and tighten the screws, I have tried quite a few different coils in the deck of various sizes and types/styles of coil, all have been great!

I found with these dual coils in place the best wattage for me was around 45 to 65w depending on my mood as a direct to lung vape, dropping to around 25 to 35w with a more restricted airflow.

The airflow is quite swishy open wide, hence I keep mine to about half as I like a little restriction to my vape.

I found that with this liquid the resulting vapour was thick with a great flavour quality.

clouds

It is possible to get a restricted direct to lung draw from the RDA with the airflow set to on the larger slots only – it’s tight and the vapour isn’t much to write home about, but the flavour is WOW!

Which mode is better BF or 510 connections?

Basically I would say it doesn’t matter which type of mod (squonk or 510 mod) you use as the performance in either mode is really good.

If you have experience with squonk mods, you will know the main benefit is no dripping! If you are careful not to over squonk you should see no leakage from the airflow, I haven’t! hand check 4

A quick word about the e liquid I have been using with this RDA “Lime Slushie” from Kwik Vape…

I have been using this particular liquid for over a year now!

The first time I tasted it, I had a eureka moment or to be more accurate OMG this is very lush, it has the most delicious taste of natural lime that I have ever tasted from any e liquid of similar flavour.

It is sharp without being over powering and has a cool zesty after taste.

Pros

  • Excellent Quality
  • Very well Designed
  • Thick vapour production
  • Flavour is awesome
  • Easy to build on
  • Bottom feed Pin
  • Newly designed airflow

Cons

The only Cons I can come up with are really nit picking, they included Ni80 coils and the fact they don’t include a 510 drip tip adaptor.

Final Review Verdict

Well the Drop 1.5 was a very pleasant surprise!

I absolutely love the redesigned airflow, the clouds are good and thick and the flavour is awesome.

The added bonus for me has to be the BF Pin it makes this RDA very versatile, I have been looking for a descent Squonk RDA for a while, that can give good flavour as well as a goodly amount of vapour! Now my search is over!

Would I recommend the DigiFlavor Drop 1.5 RDA?

In one word “Yes” even a newbie would find it easy to build upon, for an experienced Squonk user I reckon it’s a dream!

Would I buy this RDA again due loss or damage?

“Yes” I would, at the time of this review several websites have the Drop 1.5 up for less than 20 quid – cheap as chips for a decent RDA!

Sooo…

Is this a dripper you’re keen on or already using?

The Digiflavor Torch RTA is a strange new release from Digiflavor.torch rta main

Most people will remember Digiflavor in their prime with the Original Drop RDA and the wonderful Siren 2 GTA.

Then the company seemed to disappear for a few years before bouncing back with the Z1 SBS kit and the new Drop V1.5 RDA.

More Details On The Digiflavor Torch RTA…

The main feature of this is enlightening – literally.torch rta on mod

The tank features a RGB breathing light effect which lights up when the tank fires. I am reminded of a similar idea from Smok a few years ago the TFV8 Big Baby Light Edition!torch rta light

Looking at the deck – this has a “Y” shaped 4 post/clamp style which is compatible with single or dual coil builds.torch rta deck

The raised posts should make coil leg trimming much easier too.torch rta deck views

The airflow inlet is located on the top of the tank – which does help to prevent liquid leaking through the airflow and the inlet is adjustable by rotating the control ring.torch airflow

From there the air flows down to the chimney and enters at both sides of the coil/s.torch rta capacity

Refilling is taken care of via the screw off top fill cap. The tank will hold up to 5.5ml – I expect this capacity to be reduced for marketing in TPD regulated areas.filling

A generous kit of contents is included to get you started straight away!

There are 6 colours to choose from: Silver, Blue, Gold, Rainbow, Gunmetal and Black.

The Digiflavor Drop RDA was a huge success and there is even a V1.5 of that too! So will the V1.5 Solo be a beauty? Let’s have a closer look!

What Is New For The Drop Solo V1.5 RDA?

As with the original this is a small 22mm diameter RDA.

Left = Drop Solo RDA, Right = Drop Solo V1.5 RDA

You can clearly see the difference of top cap design – this time a curvy highly polished finish.drop solo v1.5 styling

The deck as the name suggests is designed for single coil builds – and if I am honest it looks very similar to the original Solo deck.drop solo v1.5 deck

The posts have wide clamping holes to accommodate more complex coil builds and the angles below the posts allow for easier coil leg trimming after installation.photo

You can adjust the incoming airflow by rotating the outer barrel and the airflow is designed to hit the coil from both sides.

Digiflavor say this RDA has a range of airflow adjustment to suit DTL (Direct to Lung) or RDL (restricted Direct to Lung) vaping styles. We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide.

As with the original this has also been created with Squonking in mind. In standard format this is for use as a dripper, but a 510 bottom feed squonk pin is also included.views

There are 6 colours to choose from: Silver, Blue, Gunmetal, Black, Rainbow and Gold.

  • Size: 22x36mm
  • 810 drip tip
  • Single coil configuration
  • Two post deck with large clamp holes
  • Adjustable side airflow – RDL and DL

So apart from the styling I can’t see many changes for this version – even the deck looks similar.
