The Blitz IVO MTL RTA is (I think) the company’s first MTL offering!

lung rta bannerBlitz have really made a name for themselves with some great offerings including the Intrepid RTA and Ghoul RDA.

What Can We Expect From The Blitz Lung MTL RTA?

So as the name suggests this is designed for Mouth To Lung (MTL) vapers – we tell you more about this in our Guide To Vape Styles.lung rta components

Airflow is usually key when designing a MTL atomiser – with more restriction and precise control required.

On the base of the tank is the adjustable airflow ring with 3 hole inlets ranging from 1-2mm diameter and a larger slot (2x4mm) for restricted DTL vaping.

Plus you can change the air outlet which directs the airflow just below the coil. There are 3 inserts from 1-2mm.lung rta airflow options

The build deck is similar to the early MTL tanks with a single coil configuration and 2 clamp screws.lung rta deck

As with a lot of MTL RTA the diameter is only 22mm in order to fit on some of the smaller box or tube mods.

A screw off top cap gives access to the refill ports.lung rta refilling

The drip tip is 510 size and you get two styles in the kit.drip tips

There are 2 colours to choose from: Stainless Steel and Black.

The Blitz Realm Pod Kit does look like another run of the mill pod mod release which we are being drowned in lately.blitz realm banner

However one feature has caught my eye…

I love a pod kit with a replaceable coil – I dislike throwing away whole pods when just the coil is knackered. So the Realm ticks the boxes here.

Even better than a replaceable coil is what coils you can use!

The Realm uses the amazing Smok Nord coils – which I love in the Nord and also the Smok Trinity Alpha kit.

There are 4 coils to choose from which should suit most vapers. I am not sure if you get any coils in the kit though – nothing is mentioned?realm nord coils

  • 0.8ohm Nord Mesh MTL Coil – this is usually supplied with the Trinity Alpha kit
  • 0.6ohm Mesh Coil – this is part of the Nord and Trinity alpha kits
  • 1.4ohm Regular – this is a standard metal coil and great for flavour
  • 0.6ohm Dual Regular – this has 2 regular coils inside

The device itself will output between 5-30W and as there is a screen and adjustment buttons I assume this has full variable wattage control?realm battery

The battery is 1100mAh and is not removable. As this has a constant output with a boost technology the power output should not drop as the battery discharges. When the device cannot output the required power it will just fail to fire.realm output

You add your e-liquid to the refillable pod which will hold 3.ml of liquid. This capacity may have to be reduced to comply with the TPD regulations in affected areas.

  • Coils: Replaceable – uses Smok Nord Coils – 0.8ohm Mesh MTL, 1.4ohm Regular, 0.6ohm Mesh, 0.6ohm Dual Regular

realm pod specsI am a huge fan of the Nord range of coils so this could be a great little kit allowing you more power and more adjustment than the Trinity or Nord devices.

The Blitz Monstor Sub Ohm Tank is not just an odd spelling mistake – but is a new sub ohm tank from the people over at Blitz.blitz monstor poster

We have reviewed a few Blitz products here on Ecigclick including the Blitz Ghoul RDA and the lovely Intrepid RTA.monstor glass options

In its basic form it is a chunky multi mesh stock coil sub ohm tank – but a few new features caught my eye…silver blitz monstor

For a start you have replaceable airflow rings on the base of the tank. These rings change the diameter of the tank base – you can have 28mm, 25mm or 24mm. This is handy for some mods where the tank diameter is restricted or when you might get the tank base overhanging the width of the mod.monstor airflow rings

The rings are also there to adjust the airflow intake to your preference.monstor components

Another great feature is that this tank is compatible with the coils used in the Freemax Mesh Pro tank. Now personally I think these are the best sub ohm tank coils I have ever used for flavour, clouds and lifespan. blitz monstor promo shot

Blitz do supply two of their own coils in the kit which might be great – they are a 0.2ohm dual coil mesh and a 0.15ohm triple mesh. If you find it difficult to obtain the Blitz brand coils or love the Freemax ones then you of course have the options to use the Mesh Pro coils in here.monstor coils

There is a slide top fill cap and a choice of glass capacities – these might be smaller to comply with the EU TPD regulations so expect something being released in a 2ml format.blitz monstor top fill

There are 2 colours to choose from – Silver and Black.monstor tank colours

Kit Includes

  • Blitz Monstor Sub Ohm Tank
  • 0.15ohm triple mesh coil
  • 0.2ohm dual mesh coil
  • Bubble glass
  • 25mm AFC ring
  • 28mm AFC ring
  • 24mm AFC ring
  • User manual
  • Accessories

Blitz Monstor Sub Ohm Tank Specs

  • Size: 54x28mm (base can be changed to 25 or 24mm too)
  • 810 Resin drip tip
  • Slide top fill
  • Capacity: 4.5ml / 6.5ml (bubble glass)
  • Coils – included dual and triple mesh – plus compatible with Freemax Mesh Pro coil heads
  • Removable airflow ring to adjust base diameter
  • Adjustable airflow
  • Silver plated 510 connector

Wow this could be quite a clever design with the ability to change the base diameter and of course using the Freemax coils makes me like this already!

Will you be buying the Blitz Monstor Sub Ohm Tank or do you find it a bit scary? Let me know in the comments below!

So yeah it’s really hard to tell them apart isn’t it – hope you won’t own both and end up accidentally vaping on the pistol. m1911 mods

Blitz have made a good name for themselves in the vaping world with great stuff like the Intrepid RTA and the Ghoul RDA and now they are entering the Mod market with this and the Vigor 81W SQ Squonk mod.m1911 mod promo shots

The info on the Blitz website is pretty vague so I will tell you all I can from my searches for specifications etc.M1911 and box

You will need 2×18650 batteries to power the mod and it will output between 5 and 200W.

There is a screen but no indication of the size or display type. m1911 components

You will find the usual user modes to play with including Variable Wattage, Bypass, Temperature Control and Custom Curves.

There are 5 colour options to choose from – Silver, Black, Blue, Gold and Red.

The Vigor 81W as the name suggests will output between 5 and 81W using either a single 18650, 20700 or 21700 battery. No batteries are included in the kit.

There is a 0.91in OLED display located on the side between the “B” logo and the adjustment buttons.vigor squonk screen

You have the usual user modes to choose from including Variable Wattage, Bypass, Custom Curves and Temperature Control. I haven’t seen any mention of resistance limits or TC materials sadly.vigor squonk promo shot

To say we’re a little late to the Blitz FP RTA party is an understatement however we do have the new and improved version to review!

OK this is a joint project between TVP [he’s dropped the postman tag now] aka ‘controversialUK YouTube reviewer Mark Roberts and Blitz Enterprises who in the past have brought out the Intrepid RTA which our Michelle felt you needed to experiment with and the Hermetic RDA designed by Mat over at Suck My Mod.

tvp fp rta review

It’s a 30mm RTA that can take either a single or dual coil and given its size you will need to have a vape mod it will fit – see below for suggestions.

The name Mark chose has raised a few eyebrows – the FP in this case standing for Fuck Pig – yeah I know lol.

OK we actually bought this [we do buy many of our review products] and obviously buying a device or indeed receiving one free of charge in no way affects my opinions. And for the record and despite Mark being a good mate who seems to enjoy cuddling me at every chance he gets…he’s never bought me a beer [a northern thing I guess lol] nor offered any other kind of bribe or remuneration for a ‘good review’…

vaper expo uk reviewers
myself and Mark far right…like I said any excuse to cuddle me lol

In all seriousness most of us in the review game tend to hold products from reviewers to a much higher standard. This is especially true in this case and if this is sh!te trust me I’ll say so…

Right…so was this a f**king pig to build on and a pig of an RTA to vape on?

Let’s take a closer look

Inside the Box

A box is a box…but this one at least has thumb holes on the side making it easier to remove the top.

tvp fp rta boxHowever I know Mark isn’t at all happy about the lack of contents or info on the base – a minor issue maybe but a niggle nonetheless. OK inside you’ll find:

  • 1 x FP RTA (2ml)
  • 1 x 810 Acrylic Drip Tip
  • 1 x 4ml Glass Tube
  • 1 x 6ml Tube
  • 1 x Screw Driver
  • 2 x Ceramic Clamp
  • 2 x Clapton Coils
  • O-rings
  • Screws

tvp fp rta contents

IMPORTANT: The glass that comes with the assembled FP RTA in the TPD version is NOT to be used – it’s merely a ‘work around’ of the TPD 2ml tank rules…the tank comes with another box containing – in my case – an almost 6ml bubble glass and inside the main box a 4ml straight glass tank – these are the ones to use! Earlier versions included a PEI bubble tank which thankfully mine didn’t.

tvp fp rta spare glass

TVP FP RTA Specs

  • 30MM Diameter
  • Knurled outer chamber for better juice flow
  • Ceramic Clamp System for easy single build OR dual build
  • 30 Honeycomb airholes, concave style bottom airflow for clouds and flavour
  • GTA style wicking
  • 4ml and approx. 6ml capacity

Key Features

First up the Blitz FP size…this is a big boy coming out at 30mm at the base and obviously using the bubble glass will increase the girth – ooer missus – so not one for a small mod as it will not only look odd but also become extremely top heavy!

The deck is a clamp style that can take either a couple of up to 3.5mm coils max or as a single with a large chunky fancy coil. Wicking is GTA style which is probably the easiest way to wick and your coil legs are kept in place via ceramic clamps.

tvp fp rta deck

The chamber is slightly domed however it’s the knurling on the outside that catches the eye and not just as a design feature either. Mark reckons this allows the juice to, if you like, ‘grip’ the indentations so allowing the liquid to reach the wicks better…as to if that’s now a ‘thing’ I’ll look at later.

tvp fp knurling airflow

Once the ‘travel glass’ is removed you have the option of the straight giving you 4mls or the bubble giving you close to 6mls.

The FP takes a standard 810 drip tip and a spare clear one is in the box – all my tips that I’ve tried have fitted no bother. I really like the black one that’s included it’s a ‘dot style’ that matches the knurled chamber perfectly – comfortable too.

Airflow comes from a stepped control reminiscent of the Steamcrave style and there’s 30 honeycomb air ports on the base of the deck arranged in almost a ‘half pipe’. This suggests a smooth vape which I’ll get to soon.

airflow fp rta

Incidentally the FP RTA is available in either stainless steel or black.

Design and Build Quality

I have no issues with the materials or the build quality – except maybe for those new screws – all the moving parts thread nicely and I found no issues with the quality of machining or indeed the materials used. The Blitz FP RTA was clean and thankfully free of machine oil – but as always I recommend giving it a wash before use.blitz fp rta on mod

Speaking of materials this is not only a chunky tank to look at, it also looks as though it has been hewn from a solid piece of metal in a blacksmith forge – this like the designer is a statement piece – tough – big in personality and in your face.

The design like the build is almost industrial with subtle touches such as the F and the P used as knurling to grip the top cap and airflow. Whilst they’re not overly obtrusive those letters really don’t do a thing for me from a design perspective but hey like I said you can barely see them.

The knurling on the outside of the chamber just adds to that industrial look however the logo looks like an afterthought due, I understand, to the manufacturers and not Mark himself. In saying that the early runs looked far less professional than the newer version I have especially on the stainless one as you can barely see it even with coloured e-liquid.

fp rta fill ports

As for e-liquid – it’s a top fill and an absolute doddle and trust me the oversized fill ports are as big enough to take even the biggest juice nozzle out there. Some might say they’re as big as a particular US based reviewers mouth…tsk tsk Neil don’t be such a bitch lol!

OK so it’s big bold and compared to the usual run of the mill RTAs some may call it brash – so how does it vape?

How Does the Blitz FP RTA Perform?

OK first up I’m not a huge fan of clamp styled decks because as regulars know I’m a bit of a fingers and thumbs bloke when it comes to building so first up the build:

Building on the Blitz TVP FP RTA

To my untrained ‘screw eye’ it looks as though this newer version has a kind of flat/cross head hybrid thing going on. If that’s the case I’m still not happy [I don’t think Mark is either] as even after a couple of builds they are starting to fray for want of a better word.

tvp fp rta coiled

That aside I found popping the included coils under the clamps painless and even for this doddering old fool easy enough to wonder why some big mouthed drama queen reviewers made such a song and dance about it lol.

Despite there being no teeth or knurling on or beneath the clamps to help hold them in place – I had no issues tightening them down and neither was there any slippage or movement.

Wicking on the Blitz FP RTA

As I’ve alluded to the GTA style of wicking is without doubt the easiest out there. I found snipping the tails using the natural line guide of the top of the threading and the deck was perfect. You also need to fluff and thin the tails out a little and let the legs naturally fall into the wicking ports – stuffing them in will give you dry hits and too little will lead to flooding.

Once again less is more and if I can get this one to wick properly then anyone can.

fp rta wicked

Look, wicking the FP isn’t rocket science despite what some may say and I’ve had neither dry hits [or the suggestion of one] nor leakage and I’m hardly an expert.

Flavour and Vapour

For the record I didn’t have any of those large chunky fancy coils to try the FP in single coil mode. However I did make a 4.5mm basic spaced coil and to be honest – and it could be down to the coil obviously – I wasn’t that impressed – this is a big bugger and deserves and comes to life with a dual coil build IMHO.

OK so using the coils supplied again I wasn’t overly impressed – sure the flavour was decent and gave incredible vapour production to say the least.

included coils
included coils

I’ve been here before with coils included in the box of many RDAs and RTAs so wasn’t too worried and switched them out for a pair of my go to Wotofo quad core coming out at around 0.24 ohms.

And wow did the Blitz FP RTA come to life with a pair of those inside!

I ohmed out at around 0.11ohms and with that bubble glass on and the airflow wide open the flavour was bloody awesome. One thing I did note was even wide open the airflow had a slight restriction which given the size of this thing surprised me to say the least.

As I’ve often said I prefer an airy draw and the FP was just – and I mean just – this side of comfortable for my style of vaping. Closing the airflow down in stages meant of course the flavour got better and better and I found a happy medium of about 2/3rds open. I’ve used this every day for around a month and whilst initially the airflow wasn’t as airy as I expected I’ve got used to it.

I’ve mentioned the vapour earlier but it’s worth noting that Mark has definitely found that balance between flavour chasing and cloud chucking – the vapour is crazy and even at around 77w you will fog out your room! Indeed I can’t take it to my local pub anymore where vaping is allowed as even so called stealthy puffs seem to unleash the vape dragon if you get my drift – this chucks lol.

Pros

  • Great flavour with the right build
  • Chucks like a cloud chucking monster if that’s your thing
  • Option of 4ml/6ml tank included
  • Single or dual coil
  • Simple to build on
  • Superb airflow control
  • Smooth and quiet vape
  • 30mm for the big boy mods out there
  • Built to last – the metal not the glass!
  • No leakage built or wicked correctly

Cons

  • You’re gonna need a bigger mod!
  • The F and the P knurling a little unnecessary
  • Bit of a drinker – likes the juice!
  • Those screws are compared to the RTA are a little lightweight
  • The name may have affected stockists and sales – especially in the US?

Final Review Verdict

As I said at the start Mark is a good friend of mine and has been for quite some time however like all reviews I go in with an unbiased open mind.

The fall out over the FP and in some cases the refusal to review or make a fool of themselves reviewing this RTA – particularly from some reviewers over the pond – shows just what a fickle place the vape review scene can be. Some of them really need to put their big boy pants on and stop being silly little snowflakes. Anyway enough of the drama queens back to the review.

I’m kind of glad we are late to the party with this one – it was the same with the original Kylin RTA – getting the updated version means we do get to see a more polished product.

You are going to need a large mod to get this one to sit with no overhang and for the record I’ve used both the Lost Vape Triade DNA 250c and the Smoant Cylon as well as the HCigar VT250 DNA and the iJOY Captain PD1865 with no issues – but do check compatibility before you buy!

I’m a huge RTA user but can count a couple that are my go to’s and trust me the FP falls into that category – even if I do have to go outside my local pub for a toot given the clouds this big boy chucks!

It’s been everywhere with me since it first arrived – not only down to the 6ml capacity but for its vape quality and indeed looks. The design is just this side of shall we say unfussy but with a very contemporary almost industrial look – bang on point for me as I bloody hate intricate gawdy overly designed things. Don’t get me wrong – it’s far from plain it just has the uncluttered no nonsense style that I prefer. I don’t like the F and P knurling though – but hey not too much of an issue 😉

So What About The Science Behind That Knurling?

As to that knurling on the outside of the chamber? The jury’s out on if that actually adds anything – there’s a school of scientific thought that suggests it does and another that says it doesn’t. I personally don’t think it matters scientifically because it vapes bloody well and actually looks good too. One thing I have noticed is those wick bubbles don’t like it – rather than appearing at the top they assemble at the bottom – again no issues there.

For a first attempt I reckon Mark has pretty much nailed it. He could have took an easier route by designing an RDA so props for that – and he’s certainly nailed it build, flavour and cloud wise and that airflow, even if adapted from Steamcrave works very well indeed. As I’ve said I was a little surprised at that hint of restrictiveness but have gotten used to it.

tvp fp rta overhang

Not sure the name Fuck Pig was the wisest idea especially given how many vapers out there seem to faint and fall like a Victorian virgin onto their chaise lounge calling for smelling salts at the slightest whiff of controversy – but hey that’s just Mark lol.

In a nutshell and for a first design product you’ve done a great job mate and the FP RTA is definitely staying in my rotation and I’m looking forward to your next project.

The Blitz FP RTA is well worth a punt of your hard earned cash – especially now the prices have dropped lol.
