Aspire are back with another pod kit – the Aspire Pixo!

Aspire Pixo Colour Screen

Aspire are one of the biggest names in the industry. They offer a huge range of different kits to suit all types of vaping styles, making their name with the release of the Nautilus and Cleito tanks.

We’ve recently taken a look at a couple of pod devices from Aspire. We have reviewed the Aspire Nexi One Pod Kit and the Aspire Gotek X II.

But the Pixo is shaping up to be something totally different…

What Can We Expect From The Aspire Pixo?

Aspire are going all-in on creating a device that will really turn heads with the Aspire Pixo!

aspire pixo features

With the Pixo, Aspire are delivering the industry’s first true touchscreen pod device. It features a bright, high definition TFT Colour screen that can be customised with different eye-catching themes.

Plus you can select different animations and activation methods to really personalise your device.

aspire pixo animations

And this is a truly touchscreen device too! You can scroll through the menu and adjust the power output without needing to press buttons and you get tactile vibration feedback.

There’s the ability to switch between two different output modes…

  • SMART automatically adjusts the power to match the resistance of the coil
  • WATT allows you to adjust the wattage yourself from 5-30W.

aspire pixo modes

Airflow can be adjusted seamlessly to suit your vaping style. The Aspire Pixo is able to deliver a Mouth To Lung (MTL), Restricted Direct To Lung (RDTL) and Direct To Lung (DTL) vape. We tell you what all these terms mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.

Four different coil resistances are available that are tailored to different styles of vaping. Choose from 0.4ohm, 0.6ohm, 1.0ohm and 1.2ohm easy side-filling pods.

aspire pixo pod options

Aspire have tested these pods extensively, stating that the built-in mesh coils offer 43% longer coil lifespan and 36% more flavour duration than pods from other manufacturers.

You can get up to four days of use thanks to the built-in 1100mAh battery. 2A fast charging ensures that your Pixo can be fully recharged in under 35 minutes.

There are a total of 8 colours to choose from. The first initial production includes 5 colours: Beige, Sage Green, Frost Blue, Ice Silver and Gunmetal.

Design & Build Quality

Depending on whether you have got the TPD version or the non-TPD one, the Aspire Pixo measures 108.9mm x 30.4mm x 16.6mm (TPD) or 111.4mm x 30.4mm x 16.6mm (non-TPD).

aspire pixo front view

The difference in size is a result of the TPD version coming with a 2ml capacity pod to fit with regulations, hence it being a couple of millimetres shorter. Whereas the non-TPD version has a larger capacity 3ml pod.

mouthpiece aspire pixo

The Pixo pods connect magnetically to the device but I did notice that there is a slight wobble to them. During use I didn’t experience them accidentally disconnecting from the device or any issues with the coil resistance being incorrectly read due to a poor connection.

aspire pixo mod and pod

Looks wise, the Pixo exudes absolute class and not only does it look like a premium high end product, it feels very robust too. There’s a really nice, smooth feel to this in the hand.

aspire pixo in hand

The listed product weight is 70g and it really does feel like there is some weight to it in the hand. I definitely notice it in my pocket too!

aspire pixo rear view

Such is Aspires commitment to providing a premium vaping experience with the Pixo, you even get a microfibre cloth included in the kit to keep that lovely finish on the device fingerprint and smear free!

HD Touchscreen

A standout feature on the Aspire Pixo is the high definition touchscreen that is prominently present on the front of the device, just below the circular power button.

aspire pixo fire button

This is a 1.47″ TFT colour screen that can be customised with three different preset themes (four if you connect the Pixo to your computer and download the latest one from Aspire) and animations that kick in when you take a puff.

It is a large and clear screen that is very vibrant in colour and easy to see under any light conditions. Displaying information such as the battery life, output mode, output wattage, voltage, coil resistance, puff counter and a vaping timer.

aspire pixo screen

This really is a magnificent looking screen and in my opinion, this is the best one that I have seen on any pod mod that I have used.

Quick Start Guide

Firstly, you are going to want to fill up one of your Aspire Pixo pods, a 0.4ohm one is installed in the device and a 1.0ohm one is spare in the box.

aspire pixo components

How to Fill the Pod

You need to locate the silicone filling port cover, which is Aspire orange coloured and located on the side of the pod.

0-4ohm aspire pixo pod

Pop this open, and fill the pod up with your e-liquid of choice.

aspire pixo filling

After you have filled the pod up, let it stand for five minutes to allow the cotton in the coil to absorb e-liquid. This will reduce your chances of getting any dry hits or a nasty burnt taste. Also this will also help to prolong the lifespan of your pod by ensuring that the cotton is fully saturated with e-liquid.

Menu Options & Operation

To power on the Aspire Pixo, quick press the power button five times. You can also turn the Aspire Pixo off by quick pressing the power button five times.

To bring up the menu, quick press the power button three times whilst the device is on.

aspire pixo menu

This will bring up a suite of options, which you navigate by scrolling and pressing the screen using your finger and these are:

  • Output modes: allows you to switch between smart and variable wattage modes. Smart mode automatically sets the output power depending on coil resistance. Wattage mode allows for manual output adjustment.
  • AB mode: switch between auto draw (A mode), button activated (B mode) or auto draw and button activated firing (AB mode).
  • Puff record: displays a graph showing the last seven days of your vaping habits on the Pixo.
  • Vibration: turns vibrating feedback on and off.
  • Screen setting: adjusts the screen brightness and screen time out.
  • Theme: change between distinct preset themes for the home screen.
  • Vaping animation: change the animation that displays when you take a puff or turn it off entirely.
  • About Device: displays the software version number. Also, if upgrading the software, enter this and long press the power button to activate.

Touchscreen Wattage Adjustment

Adjusting the wattage is done via a gesture swipe on the screen itself. A quick double swipe will bring up the wattage adjustment screen and you simply press the + or – touchscreen icons to adjust the wattage.

aspire pixo W adjustment

Wattage can be adjusted from 5-30W in 0.5W increments.

Aspire Pixo Wattage

I have noticed that this has accidentally activated a couple of times in my pocket or when fiddling with the device, but I do stress that this was pretty rare.

Charging

The Aspire Pixo offers USB-C charging and you do get a USB-C cable included in the box. The USB port is located on the base of the device.

aspire pixo usb port

Charging this device up is absolutely rapid, it has 2A fast charging so it can be charged from empty to full in under 35 minutes.

Whilst charging, the battery percentage is displayed on screen so you can check on the charging status in real time.

Safety Protections

Eight safety protections are built into the device. These are: 7 second vaping over-time protection, open circuit protection, low resistance protection, short circuit protection, low voltage protection, abnormal charging, overheat and overcharge protections.

aspire pixo protections

How Does The Aspire Pixo Perform?

A 0.4ohm Pixo pod is installed in the device and a 1.0ohm pod is included as a spare, so the Pixo can appeal to all styles of vaping right out of the box. 0.6ohm and 1.2ohm pods are available to purchase separately.

aspire pixo pod options

Each of the pods features a mesh coil inside and I got good longevity out of these. Over a weeks’ worth of use from each using a range of different e-liquids, from NET tobaccos to desserts and sweet disposable-styled bar salts.

I didn’t get any issues with burnt hits or the pods leaking during use!

0.4ohm Pod

This is the pod that comes installed on the Pixo and it is ideal for restricted direct lung or direct to lung vaping, with a recommended power output range of 23-30W.

I felt that I got the best out of it at the higher end of the scale, my preference with this pod was to use it at 28-30W and I found that the flavour was pretty much faultless.

My e-liquids tasted exactly how I expected them to and I was picking up on all of the flavour notes present.

This pod is best used with lower nicotine e-liquids that have a higher VG content in the mix ratio.

1.0ohm Pod

This is a pod that is best suited to mouth to lung vaping, as with the 10-15W power output range this is too under-powered for restricted lung or direct to lung vaping.

But, it is perfect for mouth to lung vaping, so you get a vape that is just like a disposable once you close the airflow down!

Flavour is great here too and this pod is superb for disposable styled bar salt e-liquids with a high nicotine content.

Power

Plenty of output power is available here, with an adjustable output wattage range of 5-30W.

I feel that is plenty for a pod mod, as any higher than that and there’s a risk of the device becoming too warm during use.

Airflow

A buttery smooth sliding airflow control is located down the side of the Aspire Pixo. You genuinely can vape mouth to lung, restricted direct lung and direct to lung with this device.

There’s even a separate, small airflow hole on the airflow control for those that enjoy cheek-suckingly tight mouth to lung draws!

aspire pixo airflow adjustment

My preferred style of vaping is restricted direct lung and having two out of the three larger airflow slots open provided a near perfect draw for me.

This device is also more than capable of kicking out the clouds if that is your thing!

Battery Life

Battery life is really dependent upon the resistance of the coil and the selected power output, as well as how frequently the device is used.

For example, I would get a full day when using the 0.4ohm pod at 28-30W. But when using the 1.0ohm pod at 12-15W I would get two, even three days of use from this.

You can eke out a little extra battery life by changing settings such as the screen brightness and turning the vibration and vaping animations off, but you won’t get a hugely noticeable difference.

Pros

  • Screen on the Pixo is absolutely stunning
  • Touchscreen controls offer something a little different
  • Great battery life
  • Robust build quality
  • Mouth to lung right through to direct lung inhales available
  • Lovely flavour from the pods
  • Variable wattage and adjustable airflow
  • Charges up very quickly

Cons

  • Not the most beginner friendly pod mod on the market
  • Easy to accidentally change power output due to the swipe controls
  • One of the larger and weightier pod mods
  • Bit of rattle from the pod when inserted

Final Verdict

I’ve got to say, Aspire have done an absolutely excellent job here with the Pixo, delivering a solid all-rounder of a pod mod that caters to pretty much all styles of vaping.

The standout feature for me has got to be that lovely HD screen!

Honestly, this is one of the clearest and best-looking screens I’ve seen on a device yet. And it has the added bonus of having touchscreen controls too.

There’s plenty of power in the Pixo too, with this being one of the most powerful pod mods on the market and it delivers a very flavoursome vape as well.

The build quality on the Pixo is something to admire, this is a really robustly built device. However this might be a little too on the weighty side for some.

All in all, I’ve really enjoyed the time that I’ve spent using the Pixo and this is a device that I definitely will continue to use. I’m already in the process of purchasing some replacement pods for it!

Many thanks to Aspire for sending the Pixo in for review, this is available in the UK now!

We’ve got a really interesting little device in for review here with the Aspire Nexi One Pod Kit!

aspire nexi one in charger

Aspire are a huge brand and one of the most recognisable names in the vaping industry. Coming to prominence with the release of the Nautilus and Cleito tanks and they now boast a product range that caters to any type of vaper.

We’ve taken a look at a couple of products Aspire have released this year such as the Veynom LX kit and the Gotek II pod kit. Now let’s take a look at what the Aspire Nexi One Pod Kit has to offer!

What Can We Expect From The Aspire Nexi One Pod Kit?

Well, this is a bit of a departure from some of the products that Aspire have released recently. With the Nexi One Pod Kit they are looking to redefine the cigalike to produce a device that closely mimics the draw of a cigarette, in an easy-to-use package.

nexi one components

The Aspire Nexi One Pod Kit is made up of the Aspire Nexi device and the PB (Powerbank)

The main device is a cigalike (in the shape of a cigarette) device that uses different flavoured refillable cartridges and has a 60mAh battery.

The Aspire Nexi One PB powerbank has a 400mAh rechargeable battery capable of replenishing the Nexi One device battery up to six times.

You can pop your Aspire Nexi One into the PB when not in use and have it recharge your device easily thanks to Magnetic Pin Charging. The Nexi One PB can be recharged via USB-C to keep it topped up!

aspire nexi one banner

There’s different tobacco-based flavours available to purchase, which can be slid in and out of the Nexi device easily. The pre-filled pods are filled with 1.2ml of e-liquid and you can choose between 20mg nicotine salt or 12mg freebase nicotine versions.

Many thanks to Vape Club for sending the Aspire Nexi One Pod Kit over for review. Let’s have an in-depth look at this kit!

Design & Build Quality

Starting off with the Aspire Nexi One Device, this very much resembles the look of a cigarette and the size of one too, with dimensions of 9mm x 62mm.

aspire nexi one box

At the top of the device, you can screw in a refillable pod which has a small opening for vapour to come through. On the pod you have a band that displays the flavour and the nicotine strength.

aspire nexi one cartridge battery

At the end of the device is a magnetic charging point, as well as a light that illuminates whenever you take a puff.

aspire nexi one device end view

The Aspire Nexi One PB is the powerbank that comes in the kit, featuring a flip top cover for the Nexi Device to slide into. This features a built-in rechargeable 400mAh battery with a USB-C charging port on the side.

aspire nexi one pb base

At the base of the PB is the button to activate the charging function.

aspire nexi one pb

On Aspire’s website, there are four different colours advertised for the Nexi One Pod Kit (Green, Black, White and Blue). But at present Vape Club are only stocking the Black kit.

nexi 1 colours

It is a very discreet little kit that slides into my pocket easily and once there it is barely noticeable. It does look pretty smart too, almost like an old-school cigarette case!

Quick Start Guide

Before getting up and running with the Aspire Nexi One Device, you’ll need to insert one of the pods. You get one included in the kit and it simply screws in and out of the top of the Nexi One Device. There’s a draw activated system used that automatically fires virtually instantaneously when you take a draw.

aspire nexi one device

Charging

You can pop the Nexi One Device into the Nexi One PB to recharge it. Simply open the flip top cover on the PB and slide the Nexi One Device in.

aspire nexi one charging

Though, at first, I was a bit bemused as to why it wasn’t charging automatically! Then I read the instruction manual and realised that you need to push the button on the base of the Aspire Nexi One PB five times to activate the charging function and the LED will let you know once it has finished.

Aspire have designed this so that accidental charging is minimised and it’s good to see that they have safety at heart there.

Recharging the Aspire PB is done via USB-C and a cable is included in the kit. This charges at a rate of 1A, charging the built in 400mAh battery quite quickly.

Flavours

You get a single 1.2ml pre-filled pod included in the kit and replacement pods are available to purchase in packs of three. You can choose from 12mg and 20mg nicotine strengths.

aspire nexi one pod options

On Aspire’s website, I can see some hints of different fruit flavoured Nexi refill pods. But I’ve had a look around online and I can’t see anything other than the tobacco-based and menthol flavours for sale in the UK. So maybe different flavours will be hitting the market soon!

Anyway, Vape Club sent me the Aspire Nexi One device along with the Classic Tobacco, Vanilla Tobacco, Bluemint Tobacco, Menthol Tobacco, Fresh Menthol and Caramel Tobacco flavours.

aspire nexi one flavours

Now, these aren’t complex multi-layered blends, so I’ll keep my thoughts on them quite short and sweet. But simple tobacco based flavours designed to appeal to people looking to quit smoking and in all honesty after trying these, I think they might just do the job there.

Classic Tobacco

Classic Tobacco is a smoky, rich tobacco flavour that also has a pleasing amount of throat hit. I could definitely pick up on it whenever I took a puff and I found that to be quite satisfying too.

This is more of a straight up tobacco that will likely appeal to someone looking to vape something that is as close to the taste of an actual cigarette. But as we know with vaping there isn’t really anything available that does that, which is a good thing!

Fresh Menthol

OK, so a straightforward no-frills menthol here that has quite a fresh and crisp minty flavour to it on the inhale. It isn’t quite strong enough at the peak for me, the flavour seems to die down quite quickly.

It’s a bit lacking on the exhale here, with no real flavour to it at this point. Plus there’s no throat hit with this one to speak of.

Menthol Tobacco

This tastes like a combination of the Fresh Menthol and Classic Tobacco flavours. Don’t expect a menthol cigarette flavour here!

I get the crisp mint from the Fresh Menthol mixed with the smoky notes from the Classic Tobacco. The smoky tobacco notes take over on the exhale as the initial menthol hit dies down.

Throat hit is a bit reduced here compared to what I got with the Classic Tobacco flavour and I would imagine that the menthol is taking the edge off a bit.

Bluemint Tobacco

On the inhale there’s a very weak note of blueberry and an almost imperceptible note of mint too. I expected a bit of a cooling effect but I didn’t get that at all.

I felt that the tobacco flavouring was quite weak here too, it just seemed like a very generic and subtle tobacco flavour was present.

There’s a very little tickle at the back of my throat but that is about it when it comes to throat hit!

Vanilla Tobacco

There’s quite a strong scent of vanilla here when I pop one of the pods out of the packet, which is quite a pleasing and inviting smell.

Vanilla is definitely the most dominant flavour here, with a smoky tobacco note in the background. It does taste like a vanilla bean flavour and it’s very smooth as well.

There’s no throat hit here that I could pick up on, just smooth vanilla tobacco flavour all the way!

Caramel Tobacco

This one did not smell pleasant at all when I took it out of the packet!

However, the flavour when vaping this is somewhat better than the smell!

I get a nice, creamy caramel flavouring mixed in with an earthy and rich tobacco flavour. I felt that the caramel complimented this one well.

There’s a small but pleasing throat hit to Caramel Tobacco too.

How Does The Aspire Nexi One Pod Kit Perform?

Aspire have aimed to replicate the draw of a cigarette with the Aspire Nexi One Device. It’s been 11 years since I smoked a cigarette myself but this is pretty much how I remembered it to be! That means I get a very tight mouth to lung draw and a very discreet amount of vapour produced.

To replicate the cigarette styled draw, inside each pod is a 1.6ohm nickel-chromium coil and the Device has a fixed 3.6V output. I’m a bit of a nicotine fiend and I did find this a little on the weak side to really satisfy my nicotine cravings. But Aspire are quite limited by the TPD regulations only allowing a maximum nicotine strength of 20mg.

aspire nexi one mouthpiece

I noticed that there is a 50mg nicotine strength version available for non-TPD markets and I would imagine that would do the job just fine when it comes to getting a swift nicotine hit!

Given the resistance of the coil and the fixed power output of the Nexi One Device, the battery does last quite a surprisingly long time. I could get a good few hours of puffing away on this before needing to pop it into the Nexi One PB to recharge.

And as the PB can recharge the device up to six times from a full charge, you only need to recharge the PB every other day or so. Obviously if you are puffing away on this quite frequently you will need to recharge it more often!

aspire nexi one pb in hand

On the packaging for the pods it states that you can get up to 1200 puffs (from the three included pods combined!) – so up to 400 puffs from a single pod. During testing, I got 121 puffs from a single pod, taking long and slow inhales on it.

Pros

  • Mimics the draw of a cigarette
  • Good selection of tobacco-based flavours along with menthol
  • Small and discreet vaping kit
  • Very easy to use for beginners
  • Handy powerbank recharges your device when not in use

Cons

  • Output power is a little on the weak side for a satisfying nicotine hit
  • Appeals to a limited section of the market
  • Device battery doesn’t last long before needing to be recharged
  • Tight, cigarette-styled draw won’t be for everyone

Final Verdict

I’ll admit that this review was a tough one for me at first, as I haven’t used a cigalike-type device for many years now. In all honesty, I thought this segment of the market had all but disappeared. But whilst reviewing this I had to think about who this device is actually aimed at.

Now, if you like your refillable pod kits or devices that kick out the clouds, this obviously is not going to be a device for you!

The target market for a device like this is really going to be someone who is finding it hard to quit smoking and craves that cigarette type experience, which most pod kits don’t actually deliver. Aspire’s Nexi One kit certainly does in terms of the looks and the draw. It may also tempt users of heat-not-burn devices over to vaping too.

A case in point here is that after I had finished with the kit, my wife gave it along with the unused pods to one of her work colleagues. The colleague had struggled to quit smoking and didn’t like using pod systems. They are still using it a week later and haven’t touched a cigarette!

I do have my reservations about the strength of the device and the nicotine hit that it delivers. But in all honesty Aspire are quite hamstrung on this due to the laws around nicotine containing products. Increasing the output power would probably be beyond the limitations of a device like the Aspire Nexi One.

If you are after a kit that mimics the looks and draw of a cigarette, then you aren’t really going to get better than this. It also boasts some pretty decent tobacco based flavours and you can handily reuse this over and over again. The powerbank comes in really handy too for keeping your Nexi One device recharged on the move!

Many thanks to Vape Club for sending the Aspire Nexi One Pod Kit over for review. This is available from them for £18.99 with spare pod packs available for £5.99 each!

What To Expect From The Aspire Rover Plus Kit?

The full kit consists of the Aspire Rover Plus mod and the AF sub ohm tank.

rover plus components

First – it is time to get to know the Rover Plus mod!

This has an internal battery with a 2600mAh capacity. It charges via the USB Type C port at a 2A charge rate.

design and styling of the Aspire gotek x II

The Gotek X II follows on from the Gotek Pro, Gotek S and Gotek X – all three of which we have previewed here before!

Aspire are one of the largest names in the industry. Having originally made their name with some classic tanks such as the Nautilus and Cleito. We have recently reviewed some of their latest releases such as the Cyber X and the Veynom LX kit.

What Can We Expect From The Aspire Gotek X II?

The Aspire Gotek X II is a compact, auto-draw pod system designed to offer convenience in a small, user-friendly package. There’s no buttons or screens you simply puff away on the mouthpiece!

It utilises the Aspire ASP chipset to provide a consistent vape from start to finish and to also regulate built in safety protections.

An 800mAh battery is built into the device, to last you through a full day and the Gotek X II recharges via USB-C.

The Aspire Gotek X II is compatible with the Aspire Gotek series of pods. At the time of writing you have the option of a 0.6ohm and a 0.8ohm pod, with a 0.6ohm pod included in the kit. 1 ohm pods pre-filled with e-liquid are due to hit the market soon!

Aspire state that the Gotek pods are designed to offer enhanced flavour, improved cloud production, long lifespan, fast heating and a reduction in dry hits.

In place of a screen, you have an intuitive LED indicator which indicates current battery level and when safety protections built in.

With that in mind, let’s have a deeper look at the Aspire Gotek X II kit!

Many thanks to Vape Club for sending in the Gotek X II for review, as always my views are my own.

Design & Build Quality

Aspire’s Gotek X II sports a futuristic, funky design on its box-shaped housing. It is quite a small little pod system too, sporting measurements of 81.5mm x 47mm x 21.5mm and weighing in at a reasonably lightweight 85g.

aspire gotek X II in hand

The housing is transparent, allowing you to see the internal battery as well as how much e-liquid you have got left in your pod. It looks pretty cool and a bit different from similar pod systems available on the market!

front view of aspire gotek x II vape

Gotek pods slot in at the top of the device and are held in place firmly with a magnetic connection. I didn’t once have any issue with the pod coming loose and slipping out.

pod section in mod

All in all, despite the shape of the kit it was comfortable to hold in hand, though I did feel that this kit felt a bit cheap and plasticky.

Quick Start Guide

How To Fill The Aspire Gotek X II Pod

Before using the Aspire Gotek X II kit for the first time, you’ll want to fill the pod up. Unless you have got the pre-filled 1 ohm pods to hand!

how to fill the gotek x II pod

So with the refillable Gotek pod included with the kit, simply:

  • Slide it out of the device and locate the orange bung on the side of the pod.
  • Pop this open to reveal the filling port
  • Insert the nozzle of your e-liquid bottle and fill it up.

Once done, slide the pod back into the device.

If you are filling a fresh pod for the first time, let it sit for five minutes before vaping to allow the e-liquid to fully saturate the cotton!

Charging

As you might have expected, the Gotek X II has a Type-C charging port. You do get a charging cable included which you simply plug into the port at the base of the device.

airflow and usbc charging

The maximum charging current is 1A and when fully charged the LED will flash Green 20 times.

Operation

Once you have filled up your pod, you can simply just puff away on this kit, it really is that simple!

There are no settings to adjust on this kit and no screen present. You can adjust the airflow using the slider at the base of the device.

There is an LED light indicator at the base of the device, which will light up and flash to indicate various different protections.

  • 6 second overtime protection – LED light will flash Red and Blue 10 times and the device will switch off.
  • Short circuit protection – LED light will flash Red and Blue three times and power output will be stopped.
  • Low voltage protection – LED light will flash Red 15 times.
  • Overcharge protection – LED light will flash Green 20 times and the device will stop charging
  • Overheat protection – LED light will stay Yellow for three seconds and the device will switch off.
  • Overvoltage protection – device will immediately cease charging.

The LED light also indicates the current battery level: Green means that 60-100% charge remains, Blue means that 30-60% charge remains and Red means that 0-30% charge remains.

How Does The Aspire Gotek X II Perform?

You get a 2ml capacity refillable 0.6ohm Gotek Pod included with the kit, but that is it.

There’s no spare pod included.

aspire gotek X II battery and pod

0.8ohm Gotek Pods are also available, however I didn’t get to try these out. You can even purchase 1 ohm pods pre-filled with e-liquid, which I believe are shortly coming to UK shores!

Now, this isn’t an absolute ‘flavour monster’ like some of the pod systems I have reviewed recently, but I also do have to bear in mind that this is a sub £15 pod system. Power output is fixed at 3.4V and it is delivered consistently from a full battery to empty.

There’s no adjustable power here though, so this may feel a little underpowered for some vapers!

mouthpiece

It offers a very smooth and consistent draw, albeit the flavour is a little muted compared to some of the more expensive pod kits on the market.

Flavour is serviceable enough though for the price and will be good enough for people making the switch to vaping from smoking. I feel that it certainly offers a better vape than a throwaway disposable vape!

aspire gotek x II side view

I do have to point out that I’ve seen this marketed as offering both a Mouth To Lung (MTL) and Restricted Direct Lung (RDL) hit, but I did find that even with the airflow fully open I couldn’t get a restricted direct lung hit. We tell you what the terms MTL and RDL mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.

In my opinion, this is purely a mouth to lung device.

That being said, it does offer a good mouth to lung draw. It fires virtually instantaneously when you take a puff on it and you have a fairly loose mouth to lung draw right down to a cheek-suckingly tight one at your disposal.

aspire gotek X II reviewed

I’m quite impressed with the fact that during use, I’ve not had a single drop leak out of the pod. In fact I’ve not even had any condensation build up whatsoever which I would usually expect from most pod systems! That does speak volumes for how well the pods themselves and the airflow has been designed.

Battery life is a plus point with this kit. This has quite easily done me a full day’s use before I’ve needed to pop it on charge. Making it a good option for a cheap kit to take away on a trip or if you are off to a festival for example.

Pros

  • Cheap price point
  • Easy to use pod system
  • Small form factor
  • No leakage from the pod
  • Adjustable airflow
  • The 800mAh in built battery will get you through the day

Cons

  • Flavour is a little lacking
  • Doesn’t really offer a restricted direct lung hit, only mouth to lung
  • Very basic in terms of features
  • Build quality feels a little cheap and plasticky
  • No spare pod in the kit

Final Verdict

The Gotek series of pod systems from Aspire have always aimed to offer a user-friendly experience at a budget price and the Gotek X II continues that trend.

You won’t find adjustable wattage or even a screen on the Gotek series. This is for people that just want a basic mouth to lung pod system that they can fill up and puff away on, without having to adjust any settings. Though having the ability to adjust the airflow is a bonus!

Although I felt that the flavour was a little lacking with this one (then again I have been spoilt this year with the pod systems I have got to use!). It doesn’t really offer a restricted direct lung hit, I’d say that a device like the Gotek II is a good choice for someone looking to switch over from throwaway disposable vapes to a pod system.

It has been priced very competitively and is a decent enough kit at the price point it is available for.

You can’t really get an easier kit pod system to use, it’s simple to fill up, the pods just slide right in and you just puff and go!

Aspire are an absolutely huge name in the vaping industry and one of their latest kits is the Aspire Veynom LX, which is what we will be having a look at in today’s review!

front view aspire veynom

Originally becoming well known for producing excellent tanks, both big airy cloud chasing tanks down to tight Mouth To Lung ones, Aspire further diversified into producing some very interesting mods and pod systems.

We have previewed a few of their recent and upcoming releases, such as the Minican 4, Huracan LX/ EX, the Raga AIO and reviewed the Cyber X.

I must admit, it’s been a while since I have used an Aspire product (save for the timeless Nautilus stock coils!) Having previously been an early adopter and a big fan of old Aspire products such as the Nautilus tank, Atlantis 2, Cleito, NX75 mod and the Aspire Gusto Mini – one of the really early forerunners of the pre-filled pod systems you see today!

What Can We Expect From The Aspire Veynom LX?

Aspire’s Veynom LX is one of the latest pod kit systems to hit the market. It aims to cater for Mouth To Lung (MTL) and Direct To Lung vaping (DTL). We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide To Vape Styles!

veynom lx vape

There are two versions of the Aspire Veynom that have hit the market, one is the EX and the other is the LX.

veynom lx ex banner

And they are virtually identical, with the only difference being that the EX is slightly larger on account of it taking a single 18650/21700 or 20700 battery.

veynom ex battery

Whereas the LX has a built in 3200mAh battery that has 2A fast charging through its USB Type-C port.veynom lx battery

With the Veynom LX, you have a huge range of options to really customise your vape. You have variable wattage, variable voltage and adjustable airflow. Plus the Veynom LX also supports temperature control, bypass mode and custom output power curves with CPS mode.

veynom modes

If you don’t fancy messing about with settings, simply use Auto Mode which will automatically select the best power output for you based on the resistance of your selected coil.

A large 0.96 inch TFT colour screen clearly displays relevant vaping information and the brightness can be adjusted to your preference.

There’s also an LED around the power button, that can be customised with six different settings!

veynom light themes

At the bottom of the device is a manual on / off switch to help prevent accidental activation / adjustment when carrying around.

There’s 8 colours to choose from: Silver, Gunmetal, Black, Chrome Blue Fade, Teal Purple Fade, Gold Pink Fade, Metallic Fade and Rainbow.

The Veynom pod tank comes included with the kit and features a 2ml capacity for areas covered by the TPD Regulations and a 5ml capacity outside of TPD regulated areas. A screw-to-open top filling system is provided.

It is compatible with Aspire’s BP series of coils, making it a great option for both MTL and DTL vapers.

If you don’t get on with the included Veynom pod tank and would prefer to use your own tank there’s also the ability to purchase a 510 adaptor for the Veynom LX.

Design and Build Quality

Vape Club sent me the Teal Purple Fade version for review.

As the name might suggest, there’s a lovely Chrome Teal and Purple finish on this kit. There are Carbon Fibre wrap accents on it and ‘VEYNOM LX’ in Silver in between the Carbon Fibre.

aspire veynom lx in hand

It is a reasonably large bit of kit, measuring in at 129.6mm x 34mm x 28mm. But it fits nicely in my hand with only the Veynom tank poking out of the top when I hold it. At 164g in weight, it is quite weighty as well and I definitely know it is there when carrying it around in my pocket!

OLED Screen / Buttons

On the front of the device, there is a large 0.96inch TFT colour screen. This is a standout feature of the Aspire Veynom LX kit, displaying information clearly on its large screen. On here, you’ll see battery life displayed in a bar and as a percentage, the selected output mode, power setting, output voltage, amp draw, coil resistance and a puff counter.

Below the screen are the plus and minus power adjustment buttons as well as the USB Type-C charging port. Above the screen is a large square fire button. This is ringed by an LED that lights up during use and you can customise this with six different presets through the menu system. Or just turn it off entirely if it isn’t to your tastes!

oled screen aspire veynom lx

At the base is a Silver on / off switch, which makes a change from the usual 3/5 clicks of the fire button to turn a device on and off!

That being said, it took a little bit of getting used to! In the first few days of using this device there was more than one occasion where I found myself clicking the fire button in vain, trying to turn the Veynom LX off, before remembering the power switch at the base!

Pod Tank

On top, is Aspire’s Veynom pod tank, which connects magnetically to the Veynom device.

veynom tank battery

This can make swapping coils a breeze, as you simply remove the tank, slide out the coil from the base and slide in the new one. Rotating the tank also allows you to adjust the airflow.

Capacity wise, you are looking at 2ml if purchasing the TPD product and 5ml for the non-TPD version.

Both of which are actually the same size! The 2ml capacity is achieved with the use of a large Silicon plug inserted into the original 5ml tank, which you cannot remove as the tank is sealed.

This not only reduces the capacity of the tank to make it compliant with TPD regulations, it also reduces visibility through the PolyCarbonate tank section. Meaning that you can only see e-liquid level through a small gap in the Silicon plug, which is a bit annoying.

I can only imagine this was done to save costs, as not only would a separate 2ml tank need to be manufactured for the TPD market, the Veynom LX device would probably need to be resized as well to accommodate a different sized tank.

Aspire may well have recognised that this compromise on tank capacity may not be to everyone’s liking, as if you decide that the Veynom tank isn’t for you and would like to use your own 510 threaded tank, you can purchase a 510 adaptor for the Veynom mod. This wasn’t included with my review product so I can’t comment on how this works!

Build quality is pretty impressive, this does feel and look like a very premium product. The finish has held up during the ten days that I have used it and I’ve not yet managed to pick up any noticeable scratches.

Quick Start Guide

Firstly, turn the device on using the power switch at the base of the mod – not by clicking the fire button five times! It will take around three seconds to boot up and will display the Aspire logo on the screen whilst booting.

As standard the fire button fires the device and the plus and minus buttons adjust the power output.

Combinations of these buttons are used to access menu settings…

  • You can lock and unlock the plus and minus adjustment buttons by holding down the plus and minus buttons, if you don’t want to inadvertently change power settings with the kit in your pocket or bag, however this will not lock the fire button.
  • You can lock the fire button by pressing the fire button three times continuously.
  • To adjust the screen brightness and to adjust the LED display around the fire button (or turn it off entirely), hold down the fire and minus button. This will bring you into the menu interface and you can switch between the LED adjustment and screen brightness by pressing the fire button. Plus and minus will adjust the setting.
  • Changing output modes is done by pressing the fire and plus buttons simultaneously. The selected output setting will flash, and you’ll be able to cycle through and select a different output mode as covered below.

User Modes

  • AUTO – the Veynom LX will detect the resistance of the coil and automatically select a recommended power output for it.
  • WATT – standard variable wattage output mode, adjust the wattage from 1-100W in 0.5W increments by using the plus and minus buttons.
  • VOLTAGE – changes the output to variable voltage, adjust the voltage from 0.5-9V in 0.01V increments by using the plus and minus buttons.
  • BYPASS – makes the Veynom LX behave much like a mechanical mod (with safety protections!) Output is determined by coil resistance and battery level, and will decrease power output over time in line with battery level.
  • CPS – Customisable Power Setting (custom curve) mode, set a custom power output for each puff by individually adjusting power levels on the P1/P2/P3/P4 and P5 slots.
  • TC – Temperature Control Mode, only compatible with suitable Ni, Ti and SS coils. Allows you to vape via selected temperature level rather than output wattage/voltage and provides dry hit protection.

Safety protections are built into the Aspire Veynom LX and these include 10 second overtime, open circuit, short circuit, low resistance, low voltage, overcharge, over heat and abnormal charge protections.

Filling The tank

The Veynom pod tank features a screw-to-open top filling system. So to fill up the tank you simply grasp the drip tip with one hand, hold the tank with the other and unscrew the top.

how to fill aspire veynom tank

This reveals a choice of two silicone filling holes, simply insert your bottle nozzle in either and squeeze to fill.

If you are filling the tank with a brand new coil present, pop a few drips of e-liquid down the middle of the coil and leave it to stand for at least five minutes before using it to ensure that it is fully primed.

Charging

A USB Type-C charging port is located below the screen and you do get a USB Type-C charging cable included in the box.

Whilst charging the screen displays the current battery level both as a bar and as a percentage, so you know exactly how far along the charging process it is.

aspire veynom lx buttons

Up to 2A fast charging is supported so the Aspire Veynom LX charges up in next to no time at all!

How Does The Aspire Veynom LX perform?

Included in the kit are the 0.3ohm and the 0.15ohm Aspire BP coils. These feature a mesh construction and the 0.15ohm coil is installed in the Veynom tank out of the box.

airflow veynom xlUsing the 0.15ohm coil allows you to really push the capabilities of the Veynom LX device.

This is recommended for use in the 60-80W range though I’ve found you can push this coil even higher than that. This is definitely better suited for use with the airflow fully open and delivers a very warm and flavourful vape. Though it will make the top of the device and the tank quite warm too when chain vaping!

My preference was actually to use the 0.3ohm coil. This is better suited to a Restricted Direct Lung (RDL) vape (my own personal preference) and performs great with the airflow around half open.

This is designed for use in the 30-40W range and delivers a cooler vape than the 0.15ohm coil and also delivers a vape absolutely packed with flavour.

veynom lx tank

I was definitely impressed with the performance of both of these coils, with superb flavour delivered by both of them and no issues wicking e-liquid right up to 80% VG.

I also didn’t experience any spitback or leaking when using either of them, just the occasional small bit of condensation at the base of the tank that I needed to wipe off now and again.

The Veynom pod tank is compatible with the full range of Aspire BP coils and there are plenty of different versions to try out.

A cloudy vape is still a guilty pleasure of mine from time to time! Both of these included coils are capable of delivering room-filling clouds of dense flavour with the power cranked up and the airflow wide open.

I can’t say how this will perform on the MTL front. You can certainly shut the airflow right down, but the drip tip is a little too wide for a MTL vape. Plus the included 0.3ohm and 0.15ohm coils certainly aren’t suitable for MTL vaping in the slightest!

veynom lx vapeHaving the Auto setting is quite handy, as by using this mode the Veynom will automatically detect the resistance of the coil and set a recommended power output for you.

Bypass mode is an old relic of the past and the power output decreases in line with battery life. Fun to test out but definitely not my preferred way to vape. I have long since moved on from a mechanical mod vape!

As I do like to tinker about with different wattage settings however, so I much preferred using the variable wattage and voltage modes.

I must admit to having a fair bit of fun with the CPS mode, as with this I could set the Veynom to fire a range of different wattages. Which can really change your vape and even get more out of your e-liquids.

This worked very well with some e-liquids that feature complex flavour profiles. You might even pick up on some flavour notes you never noticed before!

I couldn’t test out the temperature control mode on this device as the included coils are not compatible, in fact none of the Aspire BP coils are from what I can see.

veynom lx buttons

Unless Aspire are planning on releasing some temperature control coils for the BP range, to take advantage of this you would have to purchase the 510 adaptor for the Veynom device and use a different tank with a suitable Ni, Ti or SS coil fitted.

A bit of a negative that I found during use was that of the battery life. With my vaping habits, from a full charge this would barely last me into the early evening let alone a full day using the 0.3ohm coil.

The 0.15ohm coil would perform even worse, I would get a couple of hours at the recommended power settings.

Now, the Veynom LX sports a 3200mAh built in battery, so I would have expected a little bit more from it! Thankfully it charges very quickly due to having up to 2A fast charging.

Another aspect to consider is that these coils are extremely thirsty. Both the 0.3ohm coil and the 0.15ohm coil absolutely hammer the poor 2ml capacity of the Veynom pod tank and I can easily refill this 3-5 times a day. Sometimes even more!

Pros

  • Rock solid build quality and great looks
  • Fantastic performance, superb flavour and clouds
  • Compatible with a huge range of different coils
  • Loads of different customisable options to have a play around with
  • 0.96inch TFT colour screen is a particular highlight
  • Screw-to-open top fill system makes refilling a breeze
  • Very easy to replace coils
  • Charges up very quickly for a mod of this size thanks to 2A fast charging
  • No leaks during use
  • 510 adaptor option allows you to use a different tank if you so wish

Cons

  • Full view of your e-liquid inside the tank is obscured (thanks, TPD regulations!)
  • Replacing the top cap of the tank after filling can lead to the airflow being inadvertently adjusted
  • Battery life drains quicker than expected
  • Temperature control mode is a bit pointless as the BP coils are not compatible
  • 0.15ohm and 0.3ohm BP coils are very thirsty – expect to be refilling a lot!
  • Only 0.3ohm and 0.15ohm coils included, no MTL option out of the box
  • 510 adaptor needs to be purchased separately

Final Verdict

Aspire’s Veynom LX has got to be the most feature-rich device I have reviewed recently. There’s a whole wealth of options to play around with in this kit, meaning you can really customise the vape to your own preferences.

Performance-wise, it has been virtually faultless. You get excellent flavour and clouds with this kit and it can deliver some real power. Though the battery life won’t get you through a full day if you vape reasonably heavily.

Having compatibility with the full range of Aspire’s widely-available BP coil range means that you have a lot of coil options to choose from, with options for DTL and MTL vapers with everything in-between.

If you are in the market for a new pod tank kit then you can’t really go wrong with this one. There’s a lot of plus points with it and the negatives that I have found during use are only minor. It’s certainly a kit that I’ll be using well into the future!

Many thanks to Vape Club for sending the Aspire Veynom LX kit in for review, this can be purchased through Vape Club for £41.99 with free delivery!

The Aspire Minican 4 is the latest update to this popular starter kit range.

So far we have had the original Minican, the Minican +, Minican 2, Minican 3 and Minican 3 Pro!

Visit the Aspire Website for more information!

What To Expect From The Aspire Minican 4…

This kit is in the “pod kit” format which consists of a battery (or mod) and a pod (or tank).

minican 4 components

Inside the mod is a 700mAh battery which is charged at a 1A rate using the USB Type C port.

minican 4 battery

When it comes to output you have 3 settings – 3.2V, 3.3V and 3.4V – the LED indicator will tell you which power level is selected.

minican 4 output

The LED will also inform you of any faults and the battery charge remaining.

A great feature is the airflow slider located on the side of the mod. This allows you to tailor the incoming airflow to suit your preference.

minican 4 airflow

Vaping is very simple using an “auto draw” system – which basically means that when you inhale on the mouthpiece, a sensor automatically triggers the firing.

When it comes to pods you can use the super simple fixed coil pods (discard the pod when the coil performance decreases) or you can purchase a pod which allows you to replace the coils. Unfortunately as there is no list of contents I have no idea which pods are included in the kit.

Aspire-compatibility

In standard format the pod will hold up to 3ml of your own e-liquid using the top fill port. For those of us in TPD regulated areas this is reduced to 2ml with a bottom fill port. The device is compatible with all previous Minican pods!

I will preview the Aspire Huracan LX / EX vape kits together as they are very similar with only the battery type being different.

The name “Huracan” has only appeared as a sub ohm tank – found in the Rhea X Kit. So now it looks like the range has increased to mod kits.

Visit the Aspire Website for more details on the Huracan LX

What To Expect From The Aspire Huracan LX / EX?

These are a more conventional style vape kit with a box mod and sub ohm tank setup.

huracan lx ex components

The two kits are pretty much the same apart from the battery type.

The Huracan LX comes with a 3000mAh internal battery and a quick 2A USB Type C charging port.

huracan lx battery

In comparison the Huracan EX uses a removable 18650 battery – which is not included in the kit.

huracan ex battery

Apart from the battery and physical size both the LX and EX are the same.

The output is specified as 5-100W (0.5-9V) and you have plenty of user modes to play with – Variable Wattage, Variable Voltage, Bypass, Temperature Control and CPS (Custom Curve).

huracan lx ex modes

A 0.96 inch colour TFT screen is provided to view all of your vaping data!

huracan lx ex screen

Both the mod and tank have a standard 510 connection – this ensures they can be used with other devices.

The tank is compatible with the 0.3ohm, 0.17ohm, 0.15ohm BP Meshed coils and 0.15ohm BP Pro coil. As the kit contents are not listed I do not know which coils you will get with the kit.

huracan lx ex coils

To help prevent leakage the airflow inlet is at the top of the tank, meaning the e-liquid level is below the airflow. The airflow is also adjustable to your preference.

huracan lx ex airflow

Filling is taken care of via the screw off top fill cap and the tank will hold up to 6ml of your own e-liquid. I have not seen a 2ml TPD Compliant version mentioned.

huracan lx ex filling

For the Huracan LX you can choose from 6 colours: Black, Grey, Blue, Pink, Gunmetal and Purple.huracan lx colours

The Aspire Cyber G Slim is the newest member of the Aspire Cyber range of pod kits.

Other relations include the Cyber X, Cyber S and Cyber G.

Visit the Aspire website for more details!

What To Expect From The Aspire Cyber G Slim…

This is a hybrid of a tube style vape pen and a pod kit.

cyber g slim components

It has 2 main components, the mod (or battery / controls section) and the pod (tank section). The pod is replaced with a new one once the coil performance has deteriorated. Ideal for those who dislike the thought of messy coil changes.

cyber g slim pods

The pod used is from the “TG” range, which is also compatible with the Cyber G device.

It is refillable with 3ml of your own e-liquid via the side fill port. Unfortunately for TPD regulated areas this capacity is reduced to 2ml.

cyber g slim filling

There are 2 resistance options available – 0.8ohm and 1ohm and they have Mesh coils which should improve flavour and coil life.

cyber g slim coils

Inside the mod is the 1200mAh battery which is charged via the USB Type C cable at a slow 0.5A charge rate.

cyber g slim battery

It will output a constant 3.4V, which means the power is regulated so it stays the same regardless of the battery charge remaining.

To make life even easier it has “auto draw” – meaning no buttons or adjustments – just inhale on the mouthpiece and it will fire up automatically!

cyber g slim draw activated

An LED indicator is provided on the base which will display the battery charge status and any faults.

Here is an introduction video from the Aspirecigs YouTube channel.

There are 10 colours to choose from: Black, White, Grey, Graphite Blue, Violet Red, Blue, Red, Sakura Pink, Fern Green and Galaxy Black.
