As the name suggests, the Apollo OHM GO V2 vape kit is a new version of a set-up I reviewed almost 2 years ago.

The question is – has there been drastic improvements given I really and mean really enjoyed the original?

Apollo OHM GO V2 Review

We shall of course find out in this vape review.

Apollo is a catchall vape company that ultimately specializes in some extremely tasty vape juice.

We’ve had the pleasure of reviewing many of Apollo’s e-liquid – to varying results – including the much loved Apollo SNCK range and the not so much liked FAQ line.

Along the way we’ve also reviewed Apollo’s hardware including the original Ohm Go kit, the Evolve and the cloud chucking monster, the VTube 5.0 and Phazer sub ohm tank.

What Can We Expect From the Apollo OHM GO V2?

Flavour – clouds and an easy but good switch from MTL to DTL vape styles is the quick answer.

It should be simple to use given the chip sets the wattage for you – an ideal kit for newcomers to vaping maybe…we shall see.

Apollo ohm go kit in hand
the original was HUGE!

I was impressed by the original version – reviewed 2 years ago – so I’m interested to see how this one fares.

Incidentally it’s available in the black I received or the stainless steel that I gave to my heavy smoking nephew…

OK, the Apollo OHM GO V2 vape kit was sent direct from the company – thank you – and as always my thoughts and opinions are my own and not swayed by freebies.

So is this new kit fit for the vaping gods?

Key Features

As vaping goes, the Apollo OHM GO V2 vape kit is about as basic as it gets.

I mean that as in using the device – I’ll talk more about the design in a wee while…because basic it ain’t.

I say basic as in the chip picks up the resistance of the coil and sets the wattage accordingly – no fiddling about it’s all done for you – ideal for absolute newbies or technophobes.

The choice of coils also means you can choose between a restricted vape – similar to a lit cigarette – or a much looser DTL vape and chuck a few clouds.

As to if the two coils pull this off with good flavour to boot we shall see.

That’s about it really, apart from the dead simple coil swap and refilling which I’ll touch on now.

Apollo OHM GO V2 – Quick Start Guide

filling vape kit

  • x5 clicks of the fire button for on and off
  • Fire button glows red whilst charging and turns off when charged
  • Prime your coil – drip tiny drops of e-liquid on exposed cotton
  • Unscrew Portal tank top counter-clockwise and fill 2/3rds to allow displacement
  • Screw back on and fire to vape and minimum 10 minutes to allow coil to prime
priming vape coil
prime the coil!

Design and Build Quality

It’s considerably shorter than the original vape kit and chunkier – no bad thing.

I’ve searched high and low for the original but probably gave it away to a smoker – so I’m relying on the original review.

Apollo OHM GO V2 design

It may be small but it feels like a hefty weight in the hand – down to the solid stainless steel construction I guess.

There’s also an apparently scratch resistant coating applied, and it feels kind of like a tough but thin veneer rather like a type of synthetic rubber, but metallic rather than spongy.

A shiny fingerprint magnet this certainly isn’t and it really does feel nice and grippy in the hand.

The Portal tank screws on and off the Apollo OHM GO V2 device nicely with no crunching and the airflow has a lovely resistance to it.

portal tank

I did have an issue with mine as the pre-installed coil was extremely bedded in and it took a few hard turns to get it out.

The fire button has a very nice throw to it and lights up green when fully powered – blue when there’s about half the power left and red when you really need to recharge.

Apollo OHM GO V2 green light

As I’ve said before, you can’t do much with the design of a pen styled kit – but the Apollo OHM GO V2 does look and feel good in the hand.

Bit over the top with logos – there’s x2 on the tank and one on the device…no biggie just me being fussy.

How Does the Apollo OHM GO V2 Vape Kit Perform?

Looking back at the review of the original vape kit, I’m surprised how much I gushed about it…

Surprised as in that was 2 years ago and back then I barely liked anything…call it my moody period lol.

New Device Old Coils?

So has the new Apollo OHM GO V2 got me just as gushy?

A little bit is the honest answer.

Time has moved on, and I guess if it ain’t broke don’t fix it – improve it is the motto here.

So has it improved?

In the looks department definitely – but what about the flavour off those two coils?

I’ve looked to see if they’ve been tweaked and I don’t know for sure if they have – and given the vape world has turned to mesh, these remain basic round wire.

Not an issue if they are packed with flavour, and I really did enjoy the vape 2 years ago.

But as I said – what was top range and a great performer based on all the other coils and tanks out there, might not be up to today’s standards.

As to if these coils have a place in today’s fast changing vape market – let’s see.

Note:

For the 0.5ohm DTL coil I used Ohm Boy Cranberry, Apple & Raspberry – 70/30 VG / PG e-liquid – bloody gorgeous stuff!

For the 1.0 ohm MTL coil I used the SuperGood Cocktail Peach Bellini nic salts – tasty stuff!

Apollo OHM GO V2 0.5 ohm Coil

I left the coil to sit soaking up the juice for a good ten minutes – it could have done with more as the first hit was a little under-cooked so to speak.

5 minutes later and the vape was surprisingly cold – I certainly didn’t remember the original being this cool.

The first fill and the flavour was so so – more OK than oh wow.

Two and a half fills and things perked up a bit – not a bad flavour at all.

I’ve had absolutely no issues with wicking a 70/30 PG/VG blend – decent clouds [not massive] and zero leaks.

Still scratching my head on why the vape is almost cold…not unpleasant…just odd for a sub ohm coil.

basic round wire stock coil
basic round wire

Apollo OHM GO V2 1.0 ohm Coil

Obviously this one wicked more quickly and the first hit was reasonable enough flavour wise – not bad clouds either.

And again, it took 2+ fills to get the flavour coming through.

Not a bad coil flavour wise – but again it’s a cold vape.

Apollo OHM GO V2 Airflow Control

Works a treat and wide open with the sub ohm coil and with 10 being extremely loose this is about an 8.5

I found halfway open gave me the best flavour though it is a little bit noisy and maybe a tad warmer – though still cooler than I might like.

As to the MTL coil, shut right down and you get a very nice restricted vape.

I found almost closed gave me the perfect tight draw, but again still very cool to vape on.

Pros

  • Dead simple to use
  • Choice of MTL and DTL coils
  • Tough and hard wearing
  • Compact
  • Nice design
  • Decent flavour
  • Decent clouds

Cons

  • Very cold vape
  • Pricey!

Final Review Verdict

For an old fart like me, going on about ‘keeping up with the times‘ might seem a bit rich.

However, whilst vape pens are still popular, they really don’t do much for me – hey come for me lol.

Two years ago I enthused over the original Apollo OHM GO and it really did deserve its place high on our Best Vape Pens list – for the time and place.

But two years on, and sadly it’s low mid-range in my books and way way way too expensive!

Now before you or Apollo goes off on one – this is purely my opinion on the vape kit in front of me and the state of the vape market today.

YES it is dead simple to use and ideal for making the switch from smoking to vaping.

YES it has decent flavour and throws a few clouds.

Does It Sit High In Today’s Vape Market?

Nope and IMHO, it’s nowhere near as flavoursome, nor is it value for money – though I guess it’s just as easy to use as a pod kit such as the Uwell Caliburn G or the outstanding Innokin EQ FLTR and those innovative soft tips.

Or come to that, faced with a choice I’d go for the Apollo BREZ pod kit against this one – every singe time. Now that pod kit absolutely rocks the flavour…decent price nowadays too!

OK, the coils and flavour remains the same – though that cold vape means I have now put it away – the only changes really are the design and the drop from a 1900mAH internal battery to a 1700mah…down to the shrinkage in size I guess.

So all those considerations taken on board – whilst it performs well, it’s just not for me…and I usually like old school vape stuff.

Saying that, a quick look at the Apollo website shows 86 almost all 5 star reviews…

Which again begs the question…

What do I know!

So…

Are you using the Apollo OHM GO V2?

If so how are you finding it?

Is your vape off this one on the cold side?

Am I talking out of my ample ass as usual?

Let me know in the comments below 🙂

The Apollo Brez is yet another entry into the extremely overcrowded pod kit market, so the question is what, if anything, makes this one stand out from the crowd?

I just had to Google the word ‘Brez‘ and found a few meanings including slang for ‘best friend’ however the most common use is for a nasal breathing aid! As to if this particular Brez has me snorting with derision or breathing easy – we shall see 😉

brez-pod kit apollo

OK Apollo is a huge vape company based in both the UK and the USA and it’s fair to say have released some pretty impressive vaping kits and indeed flavoursome e-liquids. I enjoyed the full range [at the time] of juices and really rated the Apollo Ohm Go and enjoyed the ginormous VTube 5.0 topped with the almost perfect Phaser sub ohm tank.

Since then our Michelle kind of enjoyed the DSRT range of e-liquids but loved the Salt Nic, Boss e-liquid and Smoozie e-juice series.

The Apollo Brez Pod Kit

So a decent pedigree for the Brez to live up to!

For the record the Brez Deluxe pod kit was sent to me direct from Apollo – thank you – and free of charge for the purpose of this review – as always freebies do not cloud my judgement…though at this time of year I can be bribed with Cadbury’s Creme Eggs…mostly…

Key Features

Hey it’s a pod kit so the features are pretty basic.

The pods are pre-filled and are 1ml capacity – replacements come in packs of 4.

The Deluxe kit does include all five salt nic flavours at 20mg (more on what what Salt nic e-juice is here) – which gives you the chance to try all flavours and then stick with the winners.

At the time of writing a pack of replacement Brez pods are £11.95, so a decent price – BTW you can also save an extra 10% off with our Apollo coupon code 😉

How To Charge The Apollo Brez

Charging the Brez might leave you scratching your head for a wee while – it certainly did me as there isn’t a USB port on the device. Instead you snap on a magnetic adapter and then plug in the USB cable which has a very snazzy looking 24k gold plated connection.

brez charger

The LED light indicator shows white whilst charging and turns off when device is fully charged.

As to any safety features – there’s not a very detailed manual or set of specs. In this case the manual isn’t really a manual more part of the packaging.

Vaping is activated by your draw so no need to worry about fire buttons or menu screens.

Like I said this is a very basic setup that is perfect for vape beginners.

Build and Design Quality

Thanks to the aluminium body this is both light in the hand and tough. The pods have strong magnets and snap into the battery with a very satisfying click – they aren’t going anywhere!

brez pods

Design wise if it looks like a JUUL – vapes like a JUUL and feels like a JUUL…it might be a…if you catch my drift. Apollo even have their main US base in the same city…OK that’s enough comparisons lol…oh wait:

brez vs juul
Brez vs JUUL

The Apollo Brez is a little longer and certainly a tad lighter than the JUUL and given its curved design – the JUUL being dare I say boxy and bland to look at – I do prefer the overall look and feel of the Brez – especially the black matt – looks very cool with any of the coloured pods snapped in.

How Does the Apollo Brez Pod Kit Perform?

I have to say it vapes very well indeed.

There’s a nice resistance to it which I’d put on the slightly looser side of tight – I’ll get onto the flavour from the pods in a mo’.

brez pod kit e-liquid window
juice window

Being 20mg Nic Salts I wasn’t expecting much of a throat hit – they tend to be smoother – however I was pleasantly surprised. Whilst not a whack, the tickle I got was certainly passable that I reckon even beginners straight off the cancer sticks will enjoy.

brez pod kit in hand

As well as making some pretty decent vape kits, Apollo also produces some excellent e-liquids which many of the EcigClick team has reviewed and on the whole enjoyed – yes even me lol.

In the Brez Deluxe kit you’re treated to 5 from the company’s Nic Salt range so let’s put them to the taste test:

Tobacco 20mg Nic Salt 1ml Pod

brez tobacco pod

Apollo Says:

Smooth and familiar earthy tobacco for all of those who enjoy the simpler things in life.

I Say

I’ve tasted some foul tobacco pods and nearly ALL have come from Big Tobacco brands.

Those companies really need to work on their mixology because Apollo has nailed it with this one.

Yup it’s earthy with a hint and just a hint of natural sweetness and that dryness you get from a roll-up. Very reminiscent of hand rolled Golden Virginia and if you’re coming straight of the lit cigs then one I highly recommend…

Simple!

RY4 20mg Nic Salt 1ml Pod

brez-ry4 pod

Apollo Says:

A Sweet full flavored tobacco with hints of caramel for a smooth and satisfying inhale and exhale.

I Say:

RY4 is probably one of the most famous tobacco e-liquids out there. I for one began my vaping journey on this one.

Apollo’s version off the pod is OK but I’m not getting that almost toffee back note. Not a bad flavour just not quite robust enough for me – more a Silk Cut than a strong baccy taste. Almost!

Berry Blend 20mg Nic Salt 1ml Pod

brez-berry pods

Apollo Says:

A medley of sweet berries mashed up to give you that incredible berry hit.

I Say:

Ooo I like this one – very fruity!

Even coming off the – I’m assuming 1.0ohm plus pod and sub 15w power – the flavour really is crisp with not too much sweetness either. Really does zing off the tongue and yeah definitely a medley of berry notes.

Tasty!

Melon 20mg Nic Salt 1ml Pod

brez-melon

Apollo Says:

Juicy honeydew melon with a crisp and refreshing cucumber mint kick.

I Say:

I didn’t expect to like this one but wow very refreshing.

You get a lovely hit of just sweet enough watermelon on the inhale with a hint of things to come.

The exhale is really quite lovely with the coolness of the cucumber mashing into the very light hint of mint before that watermelon natural sweetness arrives creating a very tasty clean crisp vape.

Nice!

Breeze 20mg Nic Salt 1ml Pod

brez-breeze pod

Apollo Says:

An ice cold menthol blast for that freeze kick you have been looking for.

I Say:

As I always say I don’t do menthol e-liquids – but if I did this would be a keeper.

It certainly gave me a momentary brain breeze on the inhale however the iciness was blown away quite a bit on the exhale.

Not for me but you menthol lovers will enjoy this one!

Icy!

Pros

  • Dead simple to use
  • Good flavours
  • Great vapour!
  • Excellent battery life – 8 hours from fully charged
  • Nice design – Good quality
  • Clever and flexible USB connection

Cons

  • Only 1ml pod capacity

Final Review Verdict

Given I’ve reviewed a number of Apollo products I really shouldn’t have been as surprised as I was by the Brez pod kit – they do make good vape stuff!

Sure it looks like the JUUL and come to that a whole raft of other pod kits out there, however it’s the vape quality most of us look for and the Apollo Brez vapes pretty damn good.

The battery lasts for an age – it’s light as a feather – hasn’t leaked – gives amazing vapour and the flavours are the better side of good.

It’s a pity they are just 1ml capacity. Though saying that, at such low wattage and being Nic Salt based you don’t vape as much as you think you are – so they do last a little longer than you might expect.

The flavours are actually very good indeed – Big Tobacco branded pod kits take note! And given I’m currently playing around with a JUUL for an upcoming article – they do edge the infamous brand.

The price of the Deluxe Kit, that comes with 5 flavour pods is good at £24.95. Everything you need to get vaping is right there.

The kit fits easily in your pocket and bag AND delivers a very good vape experience that I’m sure will impress and satisfy any new vaper or indeed a more experienced vaper looking for a back up device.

It’s certainly one of the better pod kits in its class out there at the moment.

The Apollo SNCK e-liquid review and this is a range of juice based on some sweet snack treats.

From cookies to Taffy, one of these is bound to hit the mark for any sweet tooth.

SNCK E-Liquid Review

SNCK is manufactured and distributed by Apollo Ecigs.

Apollo has been playing the game since 2010 and initially established themselves in the San Francisco Bay Area.

They have a wide range of juice and hardware, so they should know what they are doing.

Apollo products includes the Apollo Brez Kit, the FAQ juice range, the Apollo Ohm Go Kit and Mimi’s French Toast which I recently reviewed.

As I mentioned in that review, Apollo follow strict guidelines for their manufacturing with ISO standard clean rooms and PhD level chemists.

Apollo serve over 90 countries worldwide with one of their distribution hubs right here in the UK.

With the size of Apollo I am actually quite surprised that I have not come across their juice before, it may be that it’s not easily come by in Northern Ireland but it is readily available online.

What Can We Expect From These SNCK E-liquids from Apollo?

These flavour profiles are a diabetic dream, all of the sweetness and flavour without the need for insulin.

I have previously reviewed Apollos Mimi French Toast so I have pretty high hopes for the SNCK range.

SNCK e-liquid range with mod

The juice comes in a 60ml short fill bottle, this means that there is 50ml of juice, leaving space for a 10ml nic shot to be placed in should you wish.

They are a 70/30 PG/VG mix of juice so most stock coil tanks will have no issues wicking.

Read more about VG and PG.

For the purposes of this test we will be going back to my old faithful Wotofo Recurve RDA, built with a 0.3 ohm flat Clapton coil and running at 65w.

This has been placed on top of the my old faithful Lost Vape DNA166, a two year old workhorse that is still going as strong as the day I bought it.

These bottles of e-juice have been supplied to me free of charge for the purposes of the review and I will give my honest opinion.

SNCK E-Liquid Review – Strawberry Rice Pudding Graham Crackers

SSNCK E-Liquid Review Strawberry Rice Pudding & Graham Crackers

SNCK Says:

Sweet strawberries in a creamy rice pudding with crumbles of graham crackers on top.

I Say:

There is a real rice pudding smell from the bottle with a hint of candied strawberries.  Doing the finger test gives a real sharp bitter taste at the back of your mouth, like unripened strawberries, I really can’t taste anything past that bitterness.

Inhale and exhale flavour seems to be a bit on the muted side, for this I’m jumping the wattage up another 5 watts and trying again.

There we go, that’s better.  The inhale is creamy with a hint of the strawberry, still a bit of a candied strawberry.

The exhale is where it will all hit you, it’s a mix of everything, the rice pudding, candied strawberries and the sweet crackers all hitting you at the same time.  The strawberry is definitely the strongest flavour in this combination, peaking just above everything else.

Personally, I’m really not sure about this one, but I will be scoring it against the flavour profile and not my own personal preference

SNCK E-Liquid Review – Snickerdoodle Cookie

SNCK E-Liquid Review Snickerdoodle

SNCK Says:

Just like mom use to make, fresh from the oven buttery sugar cookies covered in sugar and cinnamon.

I Say:

There is actually a cookie smell from the bottle, kind of like sticking your face into a bag of cookies and inhaling.

You may squint your eyes a bit with the finger taste though, it’s a sharp taste like a concentrated cookie that needs watered down and that taste will hover on the roof of your mouth for a bit, take a drink of something and suddenly your cola is a cookie cola.  Doesn’t last long though, couple of mouthfuls and it will go away.

I’m definitely picking up cinnamon on the inhale, the exhale however, yes, that’s fresh out of the oven cookies, it’s actually as if you could pick up the heat from the cookie being out of the oven.

Only thing is, I think mom dropped in a little too much cinnamon in there, it tickles the tonsils a bit on the exhale.

I like it, I wouldn’t be able to vape this all day though, the cinnamon is a wee bit overpowering for me but cinnamon lovers out there, this could be the one for you.

Now my energy drink tastes of cookies!!

SNCK E-Liquid Review – Banana Strawberry Taffy

Banana Strawberry Taffy

SNCK Says:

A taffy lover’s dream! Creamy banana meets with tart and sweet strawberries to make a chewy delight

I Say:

Soft sweetie bananas, everyone knows what they smell like, smelling the bottle I feel like I have just face planted a tub of sweets.  I actually did check my blood sugar levels after smelling this ha ha.

Taking the finger test from the bottle has the exact same experience of banana sweets.  Being a type 1 diabetic, I tend to sway away from these sweeties so I am starting to get a little excited here!!!

The inhale is a subtle candied strawberry, I know strawberry is in the flavour profile but the smell and finger test got me excited about the banana.

But wait, start the exhale and there it is, sweetie bananas, not just one but a full bag of them.  Hang on, someone has put a jellied candy strawberry in the bag, just one.  The strawberry is subtle and to be honest I think the combo is pretty spot on.

This bottle is not going to last long!

SNCK E-Liquid Review – Strawberry Papaya Kiwi

Strawberry, Papaya Kiwi

SNCK Says:

A perfect fruit mix of sweet papaya, smooth kiwi, and slightly tart strawberry.

I Say:

The smell from the bottle is a punnet of fresh strawberries, not candies, fresh, there is a slight hint of the papaya as well.

The first thing that will hit you from the finger test is the papaya and kiwi, the strawberry seems to linger as an after taste.

There isn’t much to report on the inhale from this juice, all the action is on the exhale.

The papaya comes straight out in front followed closely by the kiwi.  The strawberry lingers in the background and like a shy person never quite comes to the front of the crowd.

This is pretty bang on the money, very refreshing, slightly sweet and a tiny bit of tartness in the background.

A possible all day vape here, another definite winner with this one.

Final Review Verdict

So, the flavour descriptions do pretty much line up with what is happening with the vape in all 4 of these.  In my opinion two of them hit the dart board straight in the bullseye.

Downside for me with the range is the Strawberry Rice pudding, a couple of times it felt like I was doing the cinnamon challenge, not every time but most.  Again, this is my personal opinion, I like cinnamon but I don’t want to bathe in it.  I do know some that will love this one so I’ll throw it over to them.

In third place of the four would be the Snickerdoodle, hey, it’s not a bad juice, I just don’t think I could vape it for too long before having to move to something else, I think it could get quite sickening after a while, best to treat yourself with it for a vape session and go back to your all day vape.

The last two, wow, bang on, Apollo have hit these two out of the park for me.

One negative for all 4 which I think is worthwhile mentioning, this will not be scored but again should be said.

I think these are going to be coil killers, even after each of the test I could see the darkening of the coil so be mindful if you are using stock coils, it could get a little pricey for you.

Have you tried this range of e-liquids?

The Mimi’s French Toast review and this e-liquid range is a creamy fruity trio of juices, with a side of – you guessed it, French Toast!

I haven’t come across this range of juice before, however, Mimi’s French Toast is manufactured and distributed by Apollo Ecigs.

Mimi's French Toast E-liquid review

Apollo has been playing the game since 2010 and initially established themselves in the San Francisco Bay Area.  They have a wide range of juice and hardware, so they should know what they are doing.  The Apollo Brez Kit, the FAQ juice range and the Apollo Ohm Go Kit to name just a few.

Mimi’s French Toast e-liquid are just one of their many juice ranges.

To say that Apollo follow strict guidelines for their manufacturing would be a bit of an understatement with ISO standard clean rooms and PhD level chemists, probably not many companies can say this, I’m sure there are some out there like an episode of Breaking Bad!

Apollo serve over 90 countries worldwide with one of their distribution hubs right here in the UK.

With the size of Apollo I am actually quite surprised that I have not come across their juice before, it may be that it’s not easily come by in Northern Ireland but it is readily available online.

What Can We Expect From These Mimi’s French Toast E-liquids?

The Flavour profiles are quite clear, French toast with fruit and cream, I like all 3 so this should be a good one.

It is my first French Toast vape so I am kinda excited about it, never be afraid to try new flavours – I hate watermelon but I love watermelon vapes, figure that out!

Mimi's French Toast e-liquid with hardware

The juice comes in a 60ml short fill bottle, this means that there is 50ml of juice, leaving space for a 10ml nic shot to be placed in should you wish.

Apollo then advise to let it sit for 30 minutes to let the bubbles clear.

Now, this is a max VG juice, which could mean up to a 90/10 mix if not more.  I cannot find on the web site nor the bottles the exact mix ratio.  The ingredients on the bottles are: Vegetable Glycerin, natural artificial sweeteners and flavours.

I have never had 100% VG before, but then it also says in brackets (may contain propylene glycol).

Read more about VG and PG.

For the purposes of this test we will be going back to my old faithful Wotofo Recurve RDA, built with a 0.3 ohm flat Clapton coil and running at 65w.

This has been placed on top of the Yihi SXmini G Class.

These bottles of e-juice have been supplied to me free of charge for the purposes of the review and I will give my honest opinion.

Mimi’s French Toast Blueberries Crème

Mimi's French Toast blueberry and cream

Mimi’s French Toast Says:

Fluffy and delicious French toast stuffed with crème and smothered in blueberries.

I Say:

I am definitely getting a smell of sweet blueberries from the bottle, it’s really quite appealing.

Putting a drop on the finger, you really get a nice sweet creamy blueberry taste, I already want to lick the bottle and I haven’t even vaped it yet.

So on the inhale, I’m getting cream, just cream.  Exhaling comes with the blueberries and cream mixed, not as sweet as the finger test but there is definitely a sweetness to it.

Thankfully not sickingly sweet.

I’m not picking up a French toast from it, if it is there it is being out shined by the Blueberries and Cream and ya know what, I really don’t mind.

Mimi’s French Toast Peaches Crème

Mimi's French Toast peach and cream review

Mimi’s French Toast Says:

Fluffy and delicious French toast stuffed with crème and smothered in juicy peaches

I Say:

I am genuinely struggling with the smell on this one, it’s not exactly peaches, it almost has an alcho pop smell to it.  Yea yea, how would a big bearded Diabetic middle aged man know what an alcho pop smells like, I was young and innocent once you know!

Hmmmmm maybe not innocent 😉

Quickly moving on, the finger test had to be done a few times, this was a tough one to pinpoint.  Yes there is a hint of peach but what type of peach.  Fourth drip, got it…..Peach schnaps!

The inhale again is all cream, exhaling and the peach starts to come to the forefront with the cream in the background.

Even smelling the RDA after vaping I’m picking up the peach schnaps, I swear you can smell alcohol, alas there is none.

There is a slight sweetness from the vape, and I can see me vaping this all day.

Mimi’s French Toast Strawberries & Crème

Mimi's French Toast peach and creams review

Mimi’s French Toast Says:

Fluffy and delicious French toast stuffed with crème and smothered in sweet strawberries.

I Say:

I’m getting the strawberries and cream mixed in the smell from this one.  It does not smell sweet in the slightest but it is like a candied strawberry smell, just without the sugar.

In saying that, there is a definite candied sweet strawberry from dripping it on the finger.

The inhale again is all about the cream.

Exhaling, brings a 50/50 mix of the cream and a not quite ripe strawberry.  However, I am getting a sense of French Toast at the end of the exhale of this one – took me a bit by surprise.

Again, I’m getting an alcohol vibe after a few vapes, its not terrible and by no means takes away from the flavour, it’s just that smell from the RDA after vaping.

Final Review Verdict

I seem to be saying the same thing in my last few juice reviews, we score the juice against the flavour profiles described, if the flavour profile is Brussel sprouts and cheddar cheese and that is exactly what I get from it, disgusting or not to myself, then top marks.

All 3 juices were very enjoyable for me, the blueberry one is definitely my favourite and will be in the queue for full consumption in the very near future.

Lovely vapes or not, I just can’t pick up the French Toast out of the flavour, maybe a hint in the strawberry but definitely not with the blueberry or peach.

Cloud production is immense, top marks there and that is down to the mix ratio, the VG ratio is definitely in the high 90’s with these – windows had to be opened wide after the first pull.

If you are a fan of creamy fruit vapes then I would definitely have a look at the Mimi’s French Toast e-liquid range, I think they just forgot the toast, that or its absolutely smothered in the cream.

Have you tried this range of e-liquids?

The Apollo Smoozie E-liquid range are based on smoothie drinks and are designed to be an all-day-vape kind of e-liquid.Apollo Smoozie review

Apollo have been in the Vaping game right since they first released their Cig-A-Like kit. We have reviewed a lot of their e-liquid – I recently got to try out their DSRT range and Apollo 50/50 and our other reviewers have tested their Due Time range and FAQ e-liquid ranges too.

You can choose either a high VG liquid or a Nicotine Salt liquid to suit your vaping style.

Apollo Smoozie E-Liquid Flavours

I received 10 flavour options from the range to try in both formats:

  • Maui Waui – 60ml
  • Maui Waui – 30ml Nicotine Salts liquid
  • Strawberries Gone Wild
  • Strawberries Gone Wild Nicotine Salts liquid
  • Wondermelon Berry Sour
  • Wondermelon Berry Sour – ICE
  • Awesome Apple Sour
  • Awesome Apple Sour – ICE
  • Ki-berry Pear Sour
  • Ki-berry Pear Sour – ICE

As you can see I got the standard flavour and the “ICE” or cold/menthol version for a selection of flavours too.

smoozie main image

The high VG bottles come in a short fill style without nicotine, of which you can buy separately and add yourself. The bottle is 60ml in capacity with 50ml of e-liquid to leave room to add your nic shot should you choose.

The nicotine salt versions are available to buy in the EU/UK in 10ml bottles.

I will be using a Geekvape Ammit MTL RDA (on the Nunchaku 1 mod) for testing the Nic Salt liquids and the Kaees Aladdin RDA (On the Nunchaku 2 mod) for testing the high VG liquids.

nunchaku 2 mod with rda
Nunchaku 2 mod with Kaees Aladdin RDA and Geekvape Ammit MTL RDA

As you will know personal preference is different for us all – thankfully or else only Kylie Minogue and Cheryl Cole would have a fella. So I do try to judge mainly on whether a liquid meets the description. Obviously the equipment you use can also change a flavour profile slightly too.

Thank you to Apollo for sending these over for review – I will report back my honest thoughts as always.

PG/VG Content

The nicotine salt versions have 50% VG and 50%PG.

The 50ml high VG versions have 70%VG and 30% PG.

If you don’t understand what PG and VG are read our handy guide.

VG vs PG in E-liquid: All You Need To Know.

The High VG liquids are for Sub Ohm vaping devices and the VG means you will get more cloud production. This is a lot thicker liquid which may not wick properly in starter and low power kits.

The Nicotine Salt versions are not to be used in Sub Ohm vaping equipment as the nicotine is too strong and also you will probably get leaks as this is a lot thinner liquid.

This is designed for starter kits and pod mods ideally so you can get a good nic hit at low power.

OK.. On with the Smoozie juice review!

Maui Waui – Nicotine Salt 50/50

maui waui 30ml nic salt

Apollo say…

“A pineapple and mango medley blended with sweet strawberries in a smoothie you can’t put down.”

I say….

Ooh you can smell that mango a mile off – there are tropical birds all over the UK itching to fly into my room to get their beaks into this!

There is a big throat hit as you would expect from nicotine salts but this is not as harsh as say a standard high nic. Very smooth and more vapour than I thought there would be.

Taste wise it is a bit faint – there is mango coming through and a sour vibe on the back of my throat which I can’t quite explain.

The mango is the predominant taste here and a hint of the pineapple but not very strong. For a 50/50 high strength e-liquid this is great though.

Maui Waui – High VG

maui waui 60ml

Apollo say…

“A pineapple and mango medley blended with sweet strawberries in a smoothie you can’t put down.”

I say….

Again massive mango vibes just smelling this – there is a Cockatoo pecking at my window I swear.

The High VG version is super smooth with massive clouds. It is also a lot sweeter. Both the Mango and Pineapple flavours come through well.

The smoothie sensation is there too – feels luxurious and almost like you have a smoothie on your tongue.

I didn’t get the strawberry but the Mango and Pineapple boxes can 100% be ticked.

The sweetness of this liquid really makes me happy but it is not sickly sweet either. I could vape this one all day!

Strawberries Gone Wild Nicotine Salt 50/50

strawberries 30ml nic salt

Apollo say…

“Strawberries mashed with raspberries and tart green apples with a fresh kick you won’t be able to resist.”

I say….

The smell of this reminds me of Strawberry Chewits! I have been quite partial to the odd pack of Chewits lately too!strawberry chewits

As usual with higher PG e-liquid on alower powered device the taste doesn’t seem to come through as strong as a high VG version. There is always a slight chemical taste to me. However the nic salt is very smooth and doesn’t make your throat tickle at all.

There is definitely strawberry which you seem to taste more after you have exhaled – like a faint Strawberry Chewits taste – say 10 minutes after eating one. You don’t get the apple on the nic salt version as much but this isn’t as sweet as the high VG version so it’s not necessary.

This doesn’t give the same creamy sensation as the high VG version but you get a good throat and nic hit without it feeling harsh or chemically.

As nic salt liquids go though this is lovely and very vapeable. Just be careful not to overdo it as this is hardcore stuff!

Strawberries Gone Wild High VG

strawberries 60ml

Apollo say…

“Strawberries mashed with raspberries and tart green apples with a fresh kick you won’t be able to resist.”

I say….

I tested the nic salt version of this flavour first and again this smells exactly like the Strawberry Chewits – really really yummy!

As expected the high VG version had much stronger flavour. The vape almost felt creamy on my tongue – I know that sounds stupid but it does!

So this is mainly a strawberry ice cream flavour but you do get a little blast of the apple at the end. The apple just cuts through the sweet creamy stuff to stop it being sickly too.

Wow this is absolutely gorgeous – I love this e-liquid! It is not just a taste but a sensation too and it is amazing. Well done Apollo this is a liquid I will be buying again!

Wondermelon Berry Sour – Nicotine Salt 50/50

Apollo Smoozie wondermelon 10ml

Apollo say…

“When taste buds are in danger of boring flavours, Wondermelon Berry Sour is here to save the day!! A sweet yet smooth and easy to vape blend of watermelon, cantaloupe, and strawberries, Wondermelon Berry Sour will have you wondering why we’ve been hiding this sweet flavour this whole time!”

I say….

I am getting a lovely fruity whiff just opening the bottle here so I have high hopes…

My first impression on vaping this is instantly strawberry. Like a strawberry chew taste.

I get a slight sour vibe whilst vaping but this doesn’t make my tongue tingle like the high VG version does.

It is a nice vape, nothing out of this world and doesn’t blow me away.

It is one of those liquids you can’t quite make your mind up about. Which tells me its average. Nothing makes you go “Wow that is amazing” but neither does it make you vomit up your lunch.

I suppose “average” flavour liquids are more suitable as an all day vape, nothing offensive but nothing exciting either.

I could vape this all day but it wouldn’t be a flavour I would go out and buy several bottles of.

Wondermelon Berry Sour – High VG

Apollo Smoozie wondermelon 50ml

Apollo say…

“A sweet yet smooth and easy to vape blend of watermelon, cantaloupe, and strawberries, Wondermelon Berry Sour will have you wondering why we’ve been hiding this sweet flavour this whole time!”

I say….

Aha the high VG version is way more like it!

There is still the main strawberry flavour but there is a little burst which makes your tongue tingle. I feel almost a sherbet like sensation from this e-liquid.

This is a whole lot nicer than the nic salt version, very smooth to vape too.

I am a real wuss with sour stuff, I do enjoy those sweets with the sour sugar coating, but I can pull some right faces during the process of eating them. Thankfully there are no facial gymnastics here.

There is just about the right amount of sour for me, I am by default someone with a sweet tooth though so this may be not sour enough for some people.

I absolutely love this I really do! But for some it might not live up to the “Sour” name.

Wondermelon Berry Sour – ICE – Nicotine Salt 50/50

Apollo Smoozie wondermelon ice 10mlApollo say…

“What’s more wonderful than Wondermelon? Wondermelon Berry Ice is! Packed with mouthwatering watermelon, crazy cantaloupe and sweet strawberry all on ice! Your favourite melon/berry mix blasted with chilling ice that’ll make any busy city or inland town like a day at the beach!”

I say….

I did try the high VG version of this first and wow the over use of the menthol has frozen all my taste buds away. So it took several drinks and eating some sweets to get them back to life so I could give this version a bash.

I will say from the first vape the nic salt version is not as vicious. The High VG version was like being force fed liquid Nitrogen.

The taste from this is very similar to the non ICE nic salt version with a burst of that menthol minty flavour. I wasn’t massively impressed with the flavour levels of the non ice version if I am honest.

But at least this is vapeable – the menthol levels present in the high VG versions is pretty unpleasant. This is OK.

Oh and again I am not picking up any sour stuff going on – there is a waft of strawberry sometimes.

Wondermelon Berry Sour – ICE – High VG

Apollo Smoozie wondermelon ice 50ml

Apollo say…

“Packed with mouthwatering watermelon, crazy cantaloupe and sweet strawberry all on ice! Your favourite melon/berry mix blasted with chilling ice that’ll make any busy city or inland town like a day at the beach!”

I say….

Having a first sniff of this when I open the bottle it smells pretty much the same as the “non ice” version.

But like the Apple Sour Ice liquid this is more menthol than anything. It is mainly like filling my tank with Olbas Oil!

(Oh and please don’t do that – it is not for vaping – you don’t need to anyway just buy some of this instead…)

There is a slight strawberry aftertaste but way too much menthol which is not just cooling or minty but actually like Eucalyptus and this wipes out any other flavours.

Look I will be honest – after recovering from multiple viruses over the course of December the eucalyptus is nice and cooling on a sore throat.

But if you want any other flavour than menthol – this is best avoided really. I loved the non ice version but the overpowering menthol has wiped out all of the beautiful flavour.

Apollo Smoozie Awesome Apple Sour -Nicotine Salt 50/50

Apollo Smoozie apple sour 10ml

Apollo say…

“Apples, apples and more apples! That’s what you get when you get yourself a bottle of Awesome Apples! A clean, refreshing apple sour that will have begging for more!”

I say….

Just opening the bottle gives me a beautiful rich apple smell – the same as a carton of fresh apple juice.

It isn’t quite as flavourful as I was expecting – the smell really gets your taste buds going. However the flavour you do get is lovely albeit slightly dilute.

The tart apple is definitely there I just wish it would sing out a bit more as it really is a lovely fresh and natural flavour. Nothing synthetic or “sweetie” like.

This isn’t massively sour but there was a tinge of the sour sugar that you have sprinkled on the outside of sweets which makes your tongue tingle. I do like that sensation!

Apollo Smoozie Awesome Apple Sour – High VG

Apollo Smoozie apple sour 50ml

Apollo say…

“Apples, apples and more apples! That’s what you get when you get yourself a bottle of Awesome Apples! A clean, refreshing apple sour that will have begging for more!”

I say….

I tried the Nic salt version of this flavour first and found the flavour tart and fresh and like a real apple.

The High VG version is a lot sweeter. This has more of a sweetie taste and not quite as natural.

It is a lovely smooth vape and despite the name promising “sour” I found nothing to make me wince at all. In fact this is a lot sweeter than I was expecting.

Tons of vapour and I found the flavour was stronger on the inhale and it seemed to dilute on the exhale.

A beautiful apple flavour – just not quite as sour as I was expecting.

Apollo Smoozie Awesome Apple Sour – ICE – Nicotine Salt 50/50

Apollo Smoozie apple sour ice 10ml

Apollo say…

“Tangy, tart sour apples just got really cool! Awesome Apples Ice is a blast of apples, apples and… you guessed it! MORE APPLES with a blast of a refreshing ice kick! So cool and so smooth, you’ll be grabbing your next bottle in no time!”

I say….

I tried this after the high VG ICE version – which basically cryogenically froze my whole face…

The nic salt version has a lot more apple going on thankfully and less of the menthol but it is still there.

I feel like I have eaten a Polo mint then had a drink of pure apple juice.

This is super cold but again like the high VG version the menthol flavour needs toning down a tad. It is not just cooling but the minty ice is there. This overshadows the mellow apple going on in the background.

Super refreshing but needs less mint and more apple.

Apollo Smoozie Awesome Apple Sour – ICE – High VG

Apollo Smoozie apple sour ice 50ml

Apollo say…

“Tangy, tart sour apples just got really cool! Awesome Apples Ice is a blast of apples, apples and… you guessed it! MORE APPLES with a blast of a refreshing ice kick! So cool and so smooth, you’ll be grabbing your next bottle in no time!”

I say….

Opening the bottle and adding this to my RDA I got exactly the same beautiful apple-y smell as the non ice version.

When you come to vape this however it is a whole different experience!

ICE?? ICE?? This stuff is polar, I have hypothermia from 2 vapes – wow that woke me up a bit!

And it’s not just icy, there is menthol, almost strong minty things going on.

I can still taste the apple but the mint and menthol flavour is now overpowering it. Whoosh that one took me by surprise.

So to sum up – think of vaping Vics Chest Rub whilst eating an apple… Really refreshing but needs the apple volume turning up!

Apollo Smoozie Ki-berry Pear Sour – Nicotine Salt 50/50

Apollo say…

“While everyone loves a strawberry kiwi blend, we had to one up your taste buds and add a little pear to the mix to modernize a classic! Ki-Berry Pear Sour is a juicy, tangy bottle of love that you won’t be able resist! Being this sour has never been this sweet!”

I say….

Opening the bottle and having a good sniff I get a very mixed fruit smell – like opening a bag of mixed up Haribo sweets. No smell is prominent just a fruity cocktail.

This has a bit more sour than the other flavours I have tried – but still not enough to make me wince. I barely even blinked to be honest.

The pear flavour is there – think of some pear drop sweets you have dipped into a glass of mixed fruit juice. Pear is the only flavour I can just about pick out really. The rest of the flavours kind of scramble about together.

I assume the slight sour note is the Kiwi in the background and the “omnipresent” strawberry candy flavour is what takes the sour notes away. It is just so hard to pick out a single flavour. Basically just put your hand in a mixed bag of fruit sweets and eat 10 at the same time to get an idea of what I mean.

I will say this flavour is the nearest to the description but again there is nothing massively sour and the fruit flavours do not sing out at all, they just merge into the backing choir rather than take any solo spots.

Apollo Smoozie Ki-berry Pear Sour – High VG

kiberry 50ml

Apollo say…

“While everyone loves a strawberry kiwi blend, we had to one up your taste buds and add a little pear to the mix to modernize a classic! Ki-Berry Pear Sour is a juicy, tangy bottle of love that you won’t be able resist! Being this sour has never been this sweet!”

I say….

If I felt that the nic salt version was pretty much a mashed up fruit cocktail then the high VG version is even more mixed.

There are no prominent flavours at all. It is simply a fruity mash up. Like an Orgy in a Del Monte factory.

However this is bloody lovely I will say!

It is not at all sour and does feel sweet and with a sherbet like tingle left on your tongue after a vape I am really enjoying this.

If you want sour though it’s best you move along and don’t add this bottle to your basket yeah.

Apollo Smoozie Ki-berry Pear Sour – ICE – Nicotine Salt 50/50

kiberry ice 10ml

Apollo say…

“No one has ever been so sour, sweet and cool all at the same time… UNTIL NOW! Ki-Berry Pear Ice is your favourite tangy blend of sensational strawberries, kickin’ kiwis and punching pears with an ice chill ready to be the hero of all of your taste buds needs! Made by us flavour snobs, for us flavour snobs!”

I say….

Yep the unwanted “Eucalyptus” theme continues here.

I wish someone would tell this Eucalyptus to bugger off as it comes along and steals all the flavours which should be there and replaces them with a vape which tastes like something out of the “Cough, Cold and Flu” aisle in the supermarket.

So as with the rest of the “ICE” range – this is all menthol and not much else sadly.

Apollo Smoozie Ki-berry Pear Sour – ICE – High VG

kiberry ice 50ml

I say….

I can only assume that Apollo owes someone at a Eucalyptus flavouring manufacturer a huge favour? Why else would they spoil lovely e-liquid with such huge quantities of this unwelcome flavour.

I am actually questioning myself as to if Eucalyptus is normal in menthol e-liquid? In my years of vaping “Menthol” liquids usually have a minty taste and cold sensation and “Ice” or “Cooling” liquids just have the cooling sensation usually without a flavour?

Unlike the other High VG Ice versions there is a slight aftertaste of the actual liquid flavour – but very very little. This does make it the better flavour of the Ice range.

Such a shame as the non ice version was gorgeous.

This will go on the shelf for when I get Tonsillitis or a sore throat as it is quite soothing but not a flavour I want to vape on.

Final Verdict

Hmm a mixed bag here.

If you want “suck your pants up your bum” levels of sour – then these Apollo Smoozie e-liquids are not the flavours for you.

Sadly even the liquids I enjoyed did have to drop marks for not being as sour as expected.

I am not a huge fan of sour stuff – but these are way more sweet in my eyes.

Not one of them so much as raised an eyebrow in the sour stakes.

The excessive menthol use in the ICE versions did make me cringe though.

The high VG flavours I really enjoyed but the Ice versions were over powered by a Eucalyptus menthol flavour taking away any other flavour notes.

For me I would bump up the flavour in the Nic Salt versions, the High VG versions are great and to be honest completely re-think the “ICE” versions.

The menthol flavour was way too strong and made all of these versions taste pretty much the same.

As for the Maui Waui and Strawberries flavours, these are so “Jungley” if that is a word? For some reason I keep singing the “Um Bongo” tune to myself! Wonder if they vape this in the Congo?

The High VG liquids were so smooth and yummy and the clouds were excellent.

The Nicotine Salt versions are really smooth and no harsh throat hit – I didn’t cough once! The flavours are more muted on these versions – but saying that these are some of the best nic salt liquids I have had for flavour.

So definitely a some good flavours to go for.

What Can We Expect From the FAQ E-Liquid Range?

Apollo E-liquid are catering for a mixed audience with this particular range and there is something here for the fruit, dessert and bakery loving vaper.

Mixed to a 70VG/30PG blend, this is a range that’s suitable for basic starter kits as well as more evolved tank set ups. Cloud production should at least be of adequate quality and flavour will translate across a wide range of set ups.

This sounds like quite a sweet selection so only time will tell if my cotton and coils are up to task.

For an up close and personal opinion I’m running a single fused Clapton at 0.24ohm on my trusty OFRF Gear RTA at 35w for all five juice reviews.

I would like to thank Apollo Future Technology Ltd UK Distribution for providing the FAQ range free of charge for the purposes of review – and must stress that these are my own opinions.

Green Party

Apollo Eliquid Green Party

Apollo E-liquid Says:

Here’s a party for your taste buds with Green Party! Tart kiwis balanced to perfection with great green apples!

I Say:

Let’s get this party started!

A satisfyingly juicy green apple with plenty of full bodied appeal can be found during the exhale of Green Party and there is just the right balance of sweetness which continues long after the vape ends.

The authenticity of this single fruit content more than makes up for the absence of Kiwi but there’s certainly an element of tart to round off a generally enjoyable experience.

Works great with a glass of cider!

Guava Blast

Apollo Eliquid Guava Blast

Apollo E-liquid Says:

Blast with flavour with Guava Blast! A fantastic juicy guava balanced with just a bit of lemongrass to not give you an overwhelming guava punch, but rather a guava blast!

I Say:

There’s no guava blast with this.

Instead there’s a very refreshing mix of fruits all thrown together in a very impressive manner!

Of instant recognition is the citrus element incorporating a clever fusion of orange and lemon which, as the profile description mentions, does not overwhelm so extra kudos to Apollo E-liquid for delivering what they promise with Guava Blast.

On occasion there is a back-note of pineapple to sustain interest levels for what could easily become an all day vape and as with Green Party, the sweetness to the vape is probably its hook!

Funky Monkey

Apollo Eliquid Funky Monkey

Apollo E-liquid Says:

Get funky with the monkey! Ripe bananas masked with strawberries with just a touch of killer kiwis for a fruit medley your taste buds will appreciate all day!

I Say:

I’m not the biggest fan of mixing banana with strawberry.

It’s usually one or the other for me but with Funky Monkey any issues I may have are put firmly on the back burner. Why?

Apollo E-liquid has done a damn good job of the balancing they refer to.

Predominant is the banana which still nods more to the candy variety but there are some pleasant back-notes of a sweet berry running through the whole exhale.

Again I struggle to pick out any killer kiwi but the intensity of the fruit is pitched just enough to make it an enjoyable experience albeit one that leans more towards a candy sweet profile than anything fresh and ripe as is suggested.

It’s a jungle out there when it comes to this kind of monkeying around but there’s no underarm scratching on this occasion.

Miss Samoa

Apollo Eliquid Miss Samoa

Apollo E-liquid Says:

Come and knock on our door if you have a bottle of Miss Samoa!

Delicious crunchy cookie layered with chocolate, drizzled with caramel and only gently kissed with a hint of coconut for the perfect balance for the perfect cookie vape!

I Say:

I must confess I’ve been waiting for this one.

As much as I can appreciate a finely produced fruity flavour, Miss Samoa is my kinda vape!

I’m not left wanting either.

From the very first vape I’m blown away by the authenticity of the desiccated coconut which works perfectly on the taste buds while allowing the creamy milk chocolate to melt away on the exhale.

A biscuit base is very clearly definable and I can almost pick out a hint of ginger, reminiscent of those hard ginger snap cookies.

This is by far the most complex arrangement on offer within the FAQ range and has been produced with a high degree of precision. Everything that is promised has been delivered.

A beauty of an e-liquid profile!

Coney Apple

Apollo Eliquid Coney Apple

Apollo E-liquid Says:

A flavour straight from the Island next to the city that never sleeps, Coney Apple is a delicious green apple covered and coated in sweet, sticky caramel!

I Say:

Not quite the toffee apple I was expecting instead a layer of caramel that unfortunately has the effect of muting what should have been a much more prominent and sweet cooked apple.

As a combination, Coney Apple is borderline synthetic in flavour output and none of the ingredients pull together effectively enough, rendering it the worst in the FAQ range.

Had toffee played a part in the creation instead of the rather lame caramel back-note, I may have been able to enjoy it more but as things stand, unlike the city, I won’t be losing any sleep tonight.

Final Review Verdict

Apollo Future Technology have done a grand job with some artistic colour splashes to the bottle and labeling, whilst the style of font is large and clear.

It’s a shame that like so many other manufacturers there’s nothing to tell of what to expect from the vaping experience itself.

It’s a minor gripe but given the amount of real estate on a 50ml bottle is there really any reason not to provide this?

The FAQ range will appeal to the average vaper that enjoys fruity, sweet e-liquids and certainly won’t disappoint.

Although an odd decision I found Miss Samoa to be a very welcome distraction from the banana, strawberry, guava and apple influences.

I refrain from mentioning kiwi because I just couldn’t pick it out.

On a more positive note, it’s always good to see a manufacturer broadening their profile spectrum within any given range, instead of playing to one specific type of vaper.

Introduction: Salt Nic E-Liquid by Apollo

The Apollo Salt Nic E-liquid is a new range from the long established vaping company Apollo.

I recently reviewed the Apollo high VG DSRT range, also we have had the Due Time and earlier Apollo E-liquid ranges too.apollo salt nic main banner

Nicotine Salt is used in a lot of e-liquid now to give a bigger nic hit – especially good for us poor souls in the EU who can only buy maximum 20mg nicotine e-liquid due to the TPD regulations.

The Nic Salt is absorbed quicker and more efficiently so you get a better vape and hit from nic salts – ideal for vape pen kits and pod mods.

These are not designed for Sub Ohm vaping as the nicotine will be far too harsh and the liquid is thin too so you will probably get a lot of leaks as well.

We tell you more about Nicotine Salt E-liquid in our Guide.

apollo salt nic rangeI received the full range of 10 flavours to try:

  • Melon
  • Mango
  • Watermelon
  • Berry Blends
  • Vanilla Cream
  • Refresh
  • Breeze
  • RY4 (Tobacco)
  • Tobacco
  • Tobacco Menthol

I will be using a Geekvape Ammit MTL RDA for testing these as it is quick to just dry burn the coil and rewick for each flavour.

As always it’s such a personal thing to assess the “taste” of something – our own senses plus the equipment we use can make some flavours more prominent than others. I will try my best however to report back on how close these flavours match the description.

Thank you so much to the guys at Apollo for sending these over to me and as always I will report back honestly on my findings.

PG/VG & Nicotine Content

The bottles I received were 30ml size with 20mg nicotine salt strength.

Outside the EU (in the USA) this range is available in 20mg, 35mg and 50mg nicotine strengths. If within the EU click on the UK/EU Button on the website and these are available in 10ml TPD compliant bottles at 20mg strength only. Click here to go directly to them.

The bottle contains 50% VG and 50% PG this makes the liquid thinner so perfect for starter kits and pod mods.

If you are confused about the terms VG and PG well tell you all about them in our guide.

Melon

melonApollo say…

“This flavour is the perfect blend of honeydew melon, cucumber, and mint. The melon flavour is the most prominent, followed by the cucumber, and then a slight back note of mint. A wonderfully refreshing vape for summer!”

I say….

The smell reminds me of nail varnish – sorry but it does.

Blimey I didn’t expect it to taste like that!

Where do I start?

Predominantly minty – like a chewy spearmint flavour – exactly like those white sweets in the wrapper.spearmint chews

Delicious but not getting any melon or cucumber? If this was named “Spearmint Chew Flavour” this would get a 10/10 but it isn’t. It is called “Melon” and the melon is in hiding.

MangomangoApollo say…

“A fresh splash of citrus and sweetness makes this flavour a fan favourite! It’s crisp, fruity flavour will remind you of warm summer days and juicy fruit slices. The smooth vapour quality makes Mango Peach the perfect fruity flavour.”

I say….

First sniff is a very fruity although sour smell – feels like I should be cleaning the bathroom with this rather than vaping it – let’s hope it tastes better than it smells!

This is more of a real mango taste – not a mango chutney sweet flavour. This is very sour.

Really strong flavour and leaves your mouth feeling like you have just munched a chunk of mango – wow.

There is a slight aftertaste that I am struggling to put my finger on, slightly chemically – like in the 1990s when you drank Alco-pops they initially tasted of the drink they were supposed to then left behind a trail of Turps flavour on your tongue.

This isn’t that bad at all but there is something lurking in the background – you almost expect dramatic music and the lights to dim as it’s sinister and waiting to jump out.

There is just that hint of “Bathroom Cleaner” about this one for me.

Watermelon

watermelonApollo say…

“Our juiciest juice to date. It’s like a watermelon at peak ripeness, when the colour is vivid and the juice drips down your face. Mellow sweetness and you can actually taste the rind. This flavour is perfect to vape at summer barbecues. It smells delicious and produces a lot of vapour.”

I say….

Ooh this one smells juicy! It actually smells of biting into a lovely sweet green apple to me!

This is beautiful and sweet – not a sour sharp fruit taste.

As I have already found with other nic salt liquids from Apollo there are multiple levels to the flavour which you don’t always experience from high nicotine liquids.

Although the smell to me was like apple this is totally watermelon when vaping, absolutely delicious. Sweet but not sticky or sickly, not sour at all. More like a watermelon flavoured sweetie than an actual piece of watermelon.

Having never eaten a watermelon rind (has anyone?) I can’t comment on whether that flavour profile is there or not!

Berry Blends

berry blendsApollo say…

“All your favourite berries in a fruit forward blend. This e-liquid combines the mellow sweetness of blueberry with the tang of raspberry and the juiciness of blackberry. Imagine a berry smoothie in vape form. Sweet and delicious with a smooth and rich throat hit.”

I say….

I don’t know if my nose has gone on strike or something but I can’t pick up much smell from this. Just to check I had a whiff of the Mango flavour and can definitely smell that loud and clear – so the Berry Blend flavour must not have any aroma kicking about?

When vaping this there is a flavour thankfully – I was a bit worried they had forgotten to add the flavour concentrate to this hehe!

This is as the description says – a mixture of berries. I am struggling to pick out a single flavour as being dominant.

Bingo – Vimto. There we have it – the taste of this liquid = Vimto.vimto

Vanilla Cream

vanillaApollo say…

“This flavour is like biting into a deliciously sweet vanilla cupcake! One of our top 5 customer favourites, French Vanilla is rich and bold, yet sweet and light at the same time, and customers can’t get enough of it! It pairs famously with a cup of coffee. 100% American-Made E-liquid.”

I say….

Sniff test says – Yum! Technical that huh!

This has a beautiful vanilla smell – reminds me of Drumstick Lollies – rather than an overpowering “car air freshener” style vanilla – phew.drumstick lolly air freshener

Vanilla is often one of the hardest flavours to get right with e-liquid. I have tasted “great vanilla” and “rank vanilla” liquids in equal measure.

For my personal taste the Apollo Vanilla Cream sits way up there in the “great vanilla” category.

This is an ice creamy vanilla – rather than a musty damp tasting one. Some vanillas can be horrific – this is smooth and beautiful with flavour depth you would expect from a high VG liquid rather than a 20mg nicotine strength liquid.

Excellent work Apollo!

Refresh

refreshApollo say…

“This flavour has taken the industry by storm, but we believe ours is the standout. A fusion of tropical fruit flavours with an effervescence that makes it taste just like the popular soft drink. It’s a delicious fruit punch with a lot of citrus and loads of vapour. Not too sweet, but enough to satisfy your sweet tooth while leaving you refreshed and hooked.”

I say….

So the description of this flavour leaves me none the wiser – I have never heard of a soft drink called “Refresh”?

Yep this smells of a cooling fruit punch smell, a fizzy one where the bubbles pop against your nose.

First taste is lemonade – almost as fizzy as drinking a glass! What a strange sensation! I have had a few e-liquids which are a sensation as well as a taste – but they have all been high VG liquids which carry flavour at higher watts and are smoother. Never had this with a high nicotine e-liquid – just wow.

Personally I am only really getting lemonade perhaps with a small slice of lime – the fruit punch part seems to be more of an aroma than a taste.

I may have to knock a few points off for the lack of fruit punch – which is a shame as this is really delicious and I could happily vape it all day. It just wasn’t what I was expecting from the description. “Fizzy Lemonade” would be a more accurate description I feel.

Breeze

breezeApollo say…

“Menthol and mint aren’t quite the same thing – one’s minty, and the other’s a cool, pure sensation. This E-Liquid is made with the latter in mind: pure menthol that delivers an icy-fresh blast you can really feel.”

I say….

So what does a “Breeze” smell and taste like – a question I am sure you have never asked yourself…

The answer if you care is like spearmint sweets. In fact I remember a brand of chewy mints called Soft Mints in a mint green tube – the Spearmint flavour.

trebor soft mints

And just like the smell this is 100% soft mints -beautiful – even to the point I can almost feel the texture of the mint on my tongue. Wow. Absolutely flipping delicious.

Menthol flavours tend to remind me of really strong mint and cold – like Extra Strong Mints – whereas this flavour is the spearmint – sweeter and doesn’t burn your tongue or taste like toothpaste.

My top flavour out of all this range by far – I bloody love it!

RY4 (Tobacco)

ry4Apollo say…

“One of the most popular flavours in the e-cigarette world is RY4. This full-bodied tobacco flavour includes sweet hints of warm caramel and smooth vapour finish. An unforgettable flavor for sure, and our blend is an instant fan favourite.”

I say….

Many many years ago when I first started vaping, RY4 was THE flavour to buy. I am talking of times when there were only tobacco and menthol flavours to choose from.

I do not have good memories of my RY4 experiences – the smell and taste of chemicals spring to mind whenever I see that name.

Each 10ml bottle was knocking on for £10 which made me even less inclined to experiment as it was pretty expensive if you didn’t like it. In fact I gave up vaping as I hated all the tobacco flavours and was sick to death of menthol. I grabbed the ciggies and promptly sold my Tornado VV kit for a lot less than I paid for it.

So I am over the moon to report this smells lovely! Not chemically but there is vanilla and caramel tickling my hooter.

Taste wise the caramel and vanilla are really dominant and this makes me very happy indeed. Much nicer than the “Nail Varnish Remover/Ashtray/Burning Hair” taste the old liquids would kick out.

Phew was dreading this one the most. It isn’t fully tobacco-ey so those who love really deep aged tobacco flavours will find this too sweet.

Tobacco

tobaccoApollo say…

“Most requested in the tobacco genre is a simple, dry tobacco flavour to closely mimic an actual cigarette. Of course no e-liquid is going to taste just like a cigarette, but this flavour is the next best thing.”

I say….

First whiff of this tells me it is a more chocolatey style tobacco and no chemical smell – woohoo – off to a good start already with me!

This is a dark caramel taste with a chocolate vibe in the background. No taste of chemicals or ash trays at all.

In fact I have been a bad girl lately and had a bit of a blip and started smoking on and off and the taste of this liquid smells exactly like opening a new pack of rolling tobacco!

It doesn’t taste like a cigarette – you are never going to get that close – but the flavour is excellent and in my opinion far nicer than a cigarette. Yum!

Tobacco Menthol

tobacco mentholApollo say…

“We have worked tirelessly to create a flavour that will satisfy the most serious tobacco menthol cigarette smokers. This is an all new formula, so if you have previously purchased this flavour, be prepared to taste the difference. You won’t be disappointed by this full-bodied flavour that perfectly balances the warmth of tobacco with the chill of menthol.”

I say….

Sad to say that the first smell of this did remind me of old school e-liquid the familiar chemically smell. Couldn’t detect any menthol or minty fragrance at all.

But when I took the first vape of this the menthol was there like a shot, but not the tongue burning strong minty menthol – this is cold but somehow really smooth? Very very odd.

So there is a similar taste to the standard tobacco liquid above but not as deep chocolate or caramel and there is the cold menthol swooshing across your tongue like a light breeze rather than an icy hurricane.

Another liquid from the range which has totally taken me by surprise and it is another 10/10!

Final Verdict

As you can see a lot of the Apollo Salt Nic liquids in this range scored highly.

When you vape mainly high VG e-liquid you find that to be smooth and sweet. Going back to high nicotine e-liquid seems harsh and chemically.

However Apollo have almost eliminated the harsh chemical nastiness and are bringing out layers of flavour you would think would be exceptional in a high VG liquid – not one with 20mg nicotine and only 50% VG.

A couple of flavours were a let-down – but in general these are incredible liquids. I also loved the Salt Nic versions of the Apollo Boss and Apollo Smoozie range.

We are so so lucky to get products that give such a big nic hit and taste as wonderful as some of these e-liquids. Wow.

The Apollo Ohm Go is the latest piece of vaping kit I reviewed from Apollo. The previous blew me away so I was more than a little excited to get my hands on the Apollo Ohm Go Kit.

OHM-GO-KIT

This is a self-adjusting up to 50 watt sub ohm complete kit but also comes with a 1.0ohm coil meaning you can also use it as a MTL [mouth to lung] device.

So if the Apollo VTube 5.0 and Phazer tank sent me into a happy vaping orbit will the Ohm Go Kit be another out of this world vape? Hint.. This has easily made it onto our Best Vape Pen list. Read on to find out why.

Let’s take a closer look.

And there’s something else I like about Apollo vaping products – they cover pretty much every base when it comes to specs and details – a big tick in the right box 😉

Key Features

The powerful 1900mAh built in battery should keep even the chain vapers happy through a working day and add to that pass-through vaping [vape whilst device charges] and you have a device that won’t let you down.

ohm go battery

You are also looking at a vape kit that by using different coils means you’ll be able to switch your styles with ease as the chip in the battery automatically adjusts the power.

So the 1.0ohm coil will allow you to vape as if smoking a cigarette – MTL – whilst the sub ohm coils will allow you to vape DTL [direct to lung].

A big plus for beginners to both styles of vaping is there’s no need to worry about LED screens and settings as it’s all done automatically.

Simply charge – fill with e liquid – choose the preferred coil and vape on!

The Portal tank is both top and bottom fill depending on which you prefer.

Design and Build Quality

The build on both the Portal tank and the Ohm Go is exceptional – truly exceptional.

Everything screws and unscrews beautifully. There are no raggedy edges – machine oil or any other imperfections – it’s all put together nigh on perfectly.

One thing I have noticed about the Portal Pyrex drip-tip is the fact that unlike the Phazer tank [which is fiddly to take off] this slips off easily for complete cleaning. The Phazer has a metal piece that needs to be unscrewed to completely clean the tip.

portal tank

Which brings me nicely on to the design – this is an extremely good looking vape pen mod.

From the three red O rings at the base of the drip-tip to the Apollo logo on the base of tube this little vaping gizmo screams quality and class.

The base of the tank has Apollo and Portal etched onto the excellent airflow ring whilst the black sheath over the glass looks for all the world like a spaceship window.

portal tank airflow

There’s an Apollo logo and two red stripes running along the length of the battery which for me anyway gives the whole design movement.

Rather than settle for a boring circular fire button Apollo designers have added a kind of skull or alien head shape that lights up green for full power – blue for partially charged and of course red meaning you need to charge that battery.

The USB socket is on the side and level with the fire button meaning you can stand it up whilst charging.

I think you can tell I like this piece of kit!

How Does the Apollo Ohm Go Kit Perform?

Given this is a self-adjusting battery all you need to worry about is x5 clicks on and off!

As I’ve already mentioned you can fill from the top or bottom – I found filling from the top far easier as you simply unscrew the tank-top 😉

portal top fill

Swapping out the coil is a doddle and you can leave those last few drops of e-liquid in your tank. Simply turn the tank upside down and unscrew the base. The coil is then easily unscrewed and replaced.

portal coil

Vaping on the Apollo Ohm Go Kit

OK so now you’re wondering how does this thing vape.

Like an absolute dream and then some.

I’ve tried very many self-adjusting – dual MTL and DTL devices for both beginners and established vapers and can say categorically this is one of the best I’ve tried.

With the 0.5ohm coil this literal pocket rocket spews out more vaper than a spaceship at lift off – not quite as much as the Phazer tank – but almost.

The 0.5ohm coil BTW is only chucking out between 20 and 30watts!!! Apollo sells a 0.3ohm coil separately and my goodness I can only begin to imagine how much vapour that little beauty will chuck!

Taste wise things were good but nowhere near as good as the Phazer – but still good if you catch my drift!

ohm go kit in hand

I was having so much fun cloud chasing I really didn’t want to try the 1.0ohm – but ever the professional I stopped turning my flat into a zero visibility zone [sweet smelling clouds everywhere] and popped it in.

Apollo recommends high VG e-liquids for the sub ohm coils and higher PG for the higher resistance coil.

For the record: PG = Propylene Glycol and VG = Vegetable Glycerin the main ingredients [apart from flavourings] of most e-liquids.

As a rule of thumb the higher the VG the more clouds and less throat hit and vice versa with PG.

Anyway I digress.

For the 1.0hm coil I used a 50/50 PG and VG e-liquid with 12mg nicotine.

With the airflow wide open I got a fantastic throat hit and a reasonable flavour.

However closing the airflow to halfway and the flavour [I know it well] was much much better.

vtube and ohm go comparison
Apollo VTube 5.0 vs Ohm Go Kit

Vapour wise it was slightly more than you’d get from a cancer stick and certainly smelled sweeter.

What I Like

What’s not to like!

The design is awesome –and the self-adjusting battery/chip works like a charm.

It feels great in the hand – I do like silicone/rubbery finishes – and the Portal tank really does impress with the amount of clouds it creates on a coil between 20 and 30watts.

The price is pretty good too.

For this you really are getting a top of the range vape kit that will allow you to easily switch between vaping styles and more importantly – switching that actually works.

What I Don’t Like

At a push I’d say the coils I’ve tried don’t give quite the same flavour profile as the Apollo Phazer but that is a bigger tank.

But don’t let that put you off as this is a different beast – the flavour is still great for a starter kit.

Final Review Verdict

If you count the tanks that’s x4 Apollo vaping products I’ve reviewed and have to say they are without doubt some of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure to vape on.

So that’s x2 Apollo kits I’ve had the pleasure to review and both have blown my socks off!!!

To say I’m impressed is an understatement.

Sooo…

If I left this on the moon would I be screaming ‘Houston we have a problem’ and demand I flew right back to buy the Apollo Ohm Go kit?

Roger that!

The Ohm Go Kit looks fantastic, is built beautifully and vapes like a dream – go buy one!

Pros

  • Self-adjusting battery
  • Superb design
  • Great flavour
  • Amazing cloud production
  • MTL and DTL vaping
  • Good price

Cons

None really 😉

Introduction: The Evolve Kit from Apollo

The Apollo Evolve Kit is a very small vape pen style mod with a refillable tank.

Apollo have been on the scene for quite a while now, recently releasing the excellent Brez Pod system.

I did look at the “About Us” section on their website to find out when they were formed but it just talks about Spaceships…

In the box and their website Apollo say this device is designed for 50/50 VG/PG, and high nicotine strength or Nicotine salt e-liquid.

For details about what the terms VG and PG mean in e-liquid read our guide.

I would also add this would be a great kit for use with CBD e-liquid as long as it had the correct VG/PG proportions and would be cheaper to buy and maintain than a lot of the starter kits from CBD companies.

Inside the battery part of the kit is a 150mAh battery and there are no buttons or adjustments simply inhale to vape.

The tank component holds up to 0.7ml of e-liquid (recommended to only fill to 0.5ml mark for best operation) and the coil resistance is 2.5-2.9 ohm. The coils are replaceable and available in packs of 5 from the Apollo website.evolve coils

At present the Evolve kit is showing on their website – but not on the version for the EU/UK market – so I am not sure if it will be available here. I can’t see why not as the tank capacity is within the EU TPD Regulations and it does carry the warning about Nicotine? So maybe soon.

As usual I will report back honestly on my findings of the kit I have in my possession.

Right time for some high nic action!

You have two main components – the tank and the battery.evolve pen side view

The battery part is simply black with a blue LED on the base which lights up when you inhale.evolve pen bottom view

To connect to the tank there is a 510 threaded connector – however on the battery this is unusual as it is the Male side of the connector. This is the opposite to most mods/batteries so it does mean there are few – if any – tanks you can use on this other than the recommended one.evolve pen top view

The tank part is a cylinder shape – no drip tip or mouthpiece as it is all in one.

The tank unscrews from the battery to access the coil base for refilling and coil change.evolve pen tank view

I find the refilling extremely fiddly which is my only gripe about the design and ease of use of this kit.

You get a great kit contents including a spare coil. The instruction booklet whilst brief is nice and clear and tells you all you need to know.

The kit arrives with the battery and tank not connected. So simply screw the tank onto the battery, charge and fill.evolve pen components

Basic operation

  • To vape – simply inhale on the mouthpiece.
  • Cut-off – if vaping for over 15 seconds the fire will cut off
  • Battery low – LED on the end of the battery flashes 10 times

  • Turn the tank upside down.evolve pen tank removed
  • Unscrew the coil base from the tank.
  • Fill the tank and observe the liquid level through the glass.
  • Do not allow e-liquid to enter the clear centre tube of the tank (arrowed) – this is really tricky – you will have to tilt the tank whilst refilling.evolve pen refilling
  • Replace the coil base.
  • Screw the tank back onto the battery.
  • For first use or with a new coil leave the tank to stand for 5-10 minutes to allow the wicking in the coil to absorb the e-liquid.
  • Check the liquid level and top up if necessary.

How Does the Apollo Evolve Kit Perform?

Flavour & Cloud Production

This kit is designed for thinner e-liquids. So really you will require a ratio of approximately 50%VG to 50%PG.

Higher nicotine strength liquids are preferable as this is a low power device. You can still get a good nic hit if you use high strength or nicotine salt e-liquid.

So for my first trial of the Evolve Kit I used the Apollo Smoozie “Strawberries Gone Wild” Salt Nic e-liquid in 20mg nicotine strength.evolve smoozie

My first vape was quite surprising!

I have to say I didn’t hold out much hope for this device with it having such a high resistance coil head.

But what a judgemental fool I am!

The strawberry from the Smoozie e-liquid came through really strong and a nice little crackling noise accompanied my vaping.

The airflow is not the tightest I have used but still really close to a cigarette sensation.

To top this all off I got more vapour than I was expecting too!

What a great little device.

I was expecting this to perform like one of the early Cig-a-Like devices – but it does just show how things have moved on and a little kit like this can give flavour and vapour!

Battery Life

I usually give an indication of how many hours of vaping I get from a device as a guide.

This is a bit trickier as I have been using nic salt e-liquid – which if you vape too much of can make you feel a bit icky – so I had bigger gaps between vapes than I would on low nicotine e-liquid.

So I set this to charge to get it fully charged for a battery life test – and it will not charge. The light on the charger stays red – I left it on charge for 5 hours – took it off charge and went to vape on it and the light on the end of the battery just flashed.

I tried again this time plugging the charger into a standard mains socket with an adaptor – and still the same – 4 hours of charging (considering the instructions say around 1.5 hours to charge) and the light was still red.

Almost giving up I plugged the charger back into my PC USB and this time the light went green and it’s working again – hallelujah – some kind of miracle? I might believe in reincarnation now??

Anyway I managed 40 minutes of vaping before the battery conked out again.

It’s now been charging for 3.5 hours, light is still red – so there is something seriously wrong with this kit sadly.

Pros

  • Tiny device
  • Surprising vape performance!
  • Perfect for high Nicotine, Nic Salts or even CBD e-liquid in the 50/50 VG/PG proportions
  • Cheaper to use than pre-filled disposable devices

Cons

  • Charger / battery is temperamental.
  • Fiddly bottom fill tank
  • Male 510 connector means you won’t be able to use other tanks on this battery

Final Review Verdict

My whole experience with this kit has badly been soured by this recharging issue.

It won’t charge, then it does, then the battery conks out, then it won’t charge – repeat repeat etc. etc. It could have just been mine but I can only report on the device in hand at the time of use.

Apart from this issue the Evolve pen was pretty impressive… Was…

This gives a lovely flavour and vapour even at such low power using 50/50 nic salt e-liquid. I originally reviewed this e-liquid using the Geekvape Ammit MTL RDA and the flavour on the Evolve is only slightly less. The Ammit did produce more clouds but hey that is a more advanced device.

A lot of devices of similar design use pre-filled disposable tanks – when the liquid runs out or the coil fails you need to dispose of them. This is much cheaper and less wastage – you can re-fill and change the coil heads as you need.

If you are a CBD vaper and have been buying the expensive kits sold by the CBD brands – this might be a great alternative too and just buy the liquid to refill yourself. The Apollo Evolve comes in at just $19.95.

I do feel let down by the stroppy charger / battery problem and the stupid refilling method – which is a shame as I have had to drop some marks for this.
